is you seeing it like it's clear to you like you know exactly what you want you know exactly
when you want it listen to me You know exactly what it tastes like
You know what it looks like
You know what it smells like
Before you really blow up, blow up
And you get success
You literally have it in the palm of your hand
Without having it
I didn't come here to make friends
I don't even care if they respect me
I know who I am.
I've got enough respect for myself.
I do not want them to beat me.
They're never going to beat you.
They
came close to that. And I'm telling you right now, I'm telling you right now because I care about you.
I'm telling you right now because I've been there.
I've done that.
You've been in it for three years and you're about to quit.
You've been doing it for five years and it don't look like you think
You put all your money in it
You put all your time in it
People looking at you crazy
Five years you've invested, hold
You put too much in it to quit now
And the problem with some of y'all is you want somebody else to support your dream
If it's my time, this is my moment
Tomorrow, tomorrow, ain't no such thing as tomorrow
What does your dream look like? What does it smell like? What does it taste like?
If you want it to happen, get your butt up and make it happen.
If you want it to happen, rise and grind.
Welcome to Daily Motivation, where you get motivated and inspired.
And right now, I need you to listen
because we are going to go from A to Z
and I dare you,
yes you,
to make a choice
and choose to change.
Average into a mass.
Broken into booming.
Confusion into clarity. Desperation into booming. Confusion into clarity.
Desperation into domination.
Endangered into exceptional.
Failure into first class.
Give up into go-getter.
Hopeless into hungry.
Nah, nah.
I got to say it like Les Brown.
You got to be hungry.
And what that means is your classroom has to be like your favorite place to eat.
You got to eat it.
You got to drink it.
You got to see the success.
You got to live the success.
You got to breathe the success.
And you got this.
And that's why you made the decision to change introverted into influence.
Jacked up into jaw dropping.
Knocked out into knowledge itself.
Last place into the leader of the pack.
Minor into major. No chance at the next level, out of touch into outstanding.
This is just a reminder of how powerful words can be as it relates to our mindset.
So I need you to kill that negativity and speak that positivity into existence
because those that can weather the storm, those that can fight through the adversity,
those that can push through the problems are putting themselves in a position to prosper
and winners like you understand.
And that's why you chose the term pain into passion, power and purpose.
Quitters mentality into quality lifestyle.
Regret into redemption.
Sadness into superstar status.
Terrible into terrific.
Unlikely into upper bound.
Vindictive into victory. Weakness into winning formula. X'd into terrific. Unlikely into upper bound. Vindictive into victory.
Weakness into winning formula.
X'd out into extraordinary.
I know, I know.
They start with E, but they're pronounced with an X.
So we gonna make it work.
Yearning into yes, you can.
And finally, from zero into thynormous.
And that's how you go to the next level and win.
Not only in the classroom, but in every aspect of your life.
As Albert Einstein said, try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value at the end of the day success is
incredibly motivating and accomplishing your goals and your dreams is something that i wanted to do
since i was a little kid that's been a driving force in my life but through all of that the
times that i felt happiest the times that i felt most, the times that my anxiety and my stress have been at zero,
are the times where I felt like I was being most true to myself, where I was trying to really
become a person of substance. I wasn't looking for something extrinsic. I was focused inward
and trying to develop the person that I'm becoming, that I had some code that I was living by,
that I was really deciding not just what outwardly success looks
like, but what does it mean to be a good person? What does it mean to be an effective person? What
does it mean to be worthy of trust? And those things at the end of the day, those things are
something that when you invest in finding value in that, that it takes you somewhere amazing.
And as Bruce Lee said, knowledge will give you power,
but character will give you respect.
And at the end of the day,
I really can't think of anything better than that.
I can't think of anything that will keep me company
when I'm alone,
when there's nothing but silence around,
when all I can hear are the sounds of my own thoughts.
The only thing that is going to bring me or you comfort
is respect, is self--love is knowing who you are
Really and knowing that you're true to that even when nobody's looking and that
concept that notion of having a guiding light a principle something by which you steer by that you are always
true to and that in your moments of stress chaos confusion of
desire
That in your moments of deepest desire,
that you're still true to that,
that all you think about is that North Star
of being that person that you want to be.
When you let that be your guiding light,
when you stay true to that,
nothing can hurt you.
Because nothing will be able to make you feel badly about yourself
because once you know who you are and you're true to it nothing else matters
no matter what type of circumstances that you have been raised in or have experienced
you always
have the ability to find a way out and create success for yourself. And I had to do that
in my own life. I'd see all the college students go towards the campus and I thought to myself,
where are they going? What are they doing? Why do they look different than the rest of
the people that are in the group? And that always kept in the back of my head. And our mother said, whatever you do, in order to change your circumstance,
you're going to have to get an education. And so I kept that in the back of my head. No matter what,
I had to educate myself. I had to get a degree. The people that I saw going to the school down
the street, that's something I could do. And I had that vision. I would go to this
school that was like in a predominantly well-off area and everyone had books and paper and really
nice shoes. And I remember looking at this thinking, oh, I don't have any of that. And every time I
would come back into my neighborhood, I would see the graffiti and I'd see the trash. And I thought to myself, what makes a difference?
Why are there people here in this situation versus here in this situation? And every single day I
would come back and it came down to this. It was the thinking, how we think, how we look at
situations, whether or not we see ourselves doing well and being successful,
or versus if we see ourselves as a not successful person in an environment, our thinking defines our life.
And when we can take hold of our thought and see it for what it is and change it and transform it and change it to
convert it into an energy that unleashes a brain power that allows us to change a situation.
That, my friend, is how we change our lives and that's how we change everyone else.
What happened was I was failing algebra. I failed algebra. I failed geometry. I failed
calculus and chemistry. And there was this calculus teacher that said, all right, I failed geometry, I failed calculus and chemistry.
And there was this calculus teacher that said,
all right, I'm going to offer calculus tutoring
for anyone who's willing to come to the campus during the winter break.
And I thought everyone was going to show up.
There was only myself.
And I thought to myself, this is such a blessing.
And I sat there and I picked his brain
I'm like, how do I look?
What does an integral mean?
What does the tangent mean?
What does the instantaneous rate mean?
And these are all words for derivative
and calculus
and I got a chance to sit down with him
and that was the first time ever
that I realized I was smart
and when I sat with
them, it was amazing because I realized what was stopping me was my own fear. It wasn't anything
with my educational aspect. It was me thinking I couldn't do well in mathematics. And when I learned
to remove that fear and think, I'm going to do this no matter
what's going to happen. I may fail it. I may not fail it. I'm going to do well at this. And I'm
going to just, just see where it goes. I'm going to put my all into it and find out. And I put my
all into it and I failed. But it's something inside of me shifted. I realized, hey, failing wasn't that bad.
If I can spend a little bit more time at it, I can actually do really well at this.
And that was the shift in thinking.
I'm like, all right, I'm just going to spend some more time in it, and I'm going to actually get this.
When I overcome my own fear, it was when I was working with someone else and recognizing that the person next to me was the exact mirror of myself.
And as if, as I could help that person right next to me, I was helping myself at the same time.
And it became this teamwork.
Every single person on the campus needed mathematics.
And so I got a chance to know everybody on the campus and became one of the most popular people because everyone needed mathematics. And so I got a chance to know everybody on campus and became one of the most popular people because everyone needed mathematics. And that confidence that was built from taking something that I failed at before and shifting my thinking about it and embracing it to actually create a new reality for myself, that's what empowered me. And that's what allowed me to graduate top of my class, which later on opened up the door to Launch Rockets.
You know, one of the most powerful sentences in the world consists of 10 two-letter words,
right? And it goes like this. If it is to be, it is up to me.
And you can make your dream become a reality.
You can make any goal achievable.
You just have to want it.
You need to surround yourself with people who want you to achieve.
People who want you to challenge yourself.
People who want to see you get to the top.
But if you can't break past that barrier of being afraid to go into
obstacles then really you're no better than the 90% who just have a dream and do nothing about it
you need to want it with every part of your body you need to commit yourself because commitment
and effort is the only thing that will like break these obstacles and get you where you want to go
but until you do that you won't get
anywhere and the truth is a lot of people unfortunately surround themselves with people
who put them down who think their dreams aren't worth it and here's the truth you need to learn
to stand up for what you believe in even when the whole world is sitting down and if you can do that
and believe in what you believe in the world is yours
to take there's no other way around it if success is the result that you are ultimately seeking
you must be obsessed with the process you have no time to let fear, doubt, failure,
quit, negative thoughts,
or give up enter into your mental.
See, you have massive
potential. So from the moment you
open your eyes in the morning, your mindset
has to be win.
Meaning winning
that particular morning and carrying that
winner's mentality with you as you
enter your classroom.
So what the person to the left of you is pessimistic.
So what the person to the right of you is zoned out.
You, yes you, can only be concerned with staying locked in because you refuse to let the aura
of your classmates or classroom enter into your mental space.
See, this race is won by the one that can distance him or herself from the rest of the pack.
And those are the facts.
So I need you to realize that there will be bad days.
There will be times that you feel like you have no earthly idea what your teacher or professor is talking about.
But what you will never, ever do is throw a pity party. What you will never, ever do is talking about. But what you will never ever do is throw a pity party. What you
will never ever do is tap out. What you will never ever do is concede and throw in the towel.
What you will do is knock on his or her door and say, listen, I only have one option,
and that is success in your class but right now I'm confused about the
lesson you taught today and I need clarity and I need it now I guarantee if you are passionate
about wanting to achieve success in that class he or she will bend over backwards to help you
but if you settle for mediocrity and never say anything,
you are setting yourself up to fail.
And failure, my friend,
is not in your DNA.
I promise.
You're not the first person to question whether or not
they have what it takes
to achieve at a high level.
I promise.
You're not the first person
to feel like they are underperforming.
I promise.
You are not the first person
to feel like their brain is about to explode.
Listen to me.
Those that can push through no matter what storms arise are in the small minority,
that small percentile of those that ultimately break through and make their goals and dreams a reality.
So the reality is this.
You were born with everything
you need to pass every class
with flying colors.
You were born with everything you need
to overcome the anxiety that may pop up
from time to time on a mission to derail
your lifelong hopes, dreams, and aspirations.
See, my favorite acronym
is HWPO.
And just in case you forget, or just in case you don't know, that means hard work pays off.
So winners like us never lose focus.
And we're horrified and petrified whenever someone tries to tell us to take the easy route.
Because we already know there is no easy route because if it were
easy everyone would do it so we avoid that ignorance and get back to our grind of studying
harder than we've ever studied before because we understand that you get out of it what you put
into it so we pour our heart and soul into our homework we pour our heart and soul into our homework. We pour our heart and soul into
studying for exams. That way, we sleep like a baby because we know in our heart of hearts
that we have put every ounce of our being into our work, and therefore, success is a
foregone conclusion.
After all of the hard work, after all of the studying, after all of the studying after all of the blood sweat and tears
you still fail
and never forget this you never fail you never lose you only learn
see life will knock the mess out of you when you least expect it.
It's part of the process. See, that's when you have to tell yourself, because of this
setback, I'm strong. Because of this setback, I'm wiser. Because of this setback, I'm smarter.
And because of this setback, I'm hungrier than ever.
So I say all of this as a friendly reminder.
And we're at this.
And we're born to be spectacular.
So I need you to jump over the obstacle.
I need you to go around the pitfalls.
And I need you to push through the adversity.
Because that dormant volcano of success that's living inside of you is just waiting for you to grant permission for it to erupt.

Get your e-book now life it's one of the most beautiful things
any of us are ever going to encounter but hiding in that beauty is the most destructive force
imaginable because if you want to get something done,
if you want to do that thing that burns inside of you,
you have to remember,
you can do anything once you stop trying to do everything.
The key to really being successful,
the key to doing something at a grand scale,
the key to playing on a world stage,
is to pick something.
To be able to stand in a room with a thousand doors and shut 999 of them, to have the balls to know which path
you're willing to take and to exclude all others. But until you can do that, you're never going to
be able to develop the skill set that you're going to need to perform because here is the reality.
It isn't about what you think you should have to put in.
It isn't about the amount of energy and drive that you think is reasonable.
As Karlsruhe and Clausewitz said,
pursue one great decisive aim with force and determination
because that is how you bend the universe to your will.
That is how you impress people. That is how you capture the universe to your will that is how you impress people that is how you capture the human imagination
And if you want to do something extraordinary and be remembered
You've got to get so good that you're performing at a level that has never been seen before that is the only path to set the
bar
Ridiculously high and then surpass all expectations. You can't put it down low and then beat it and say, whoa, look at me. People don't give a shit. They see through that. You've got to do something that
leaves their jaw agape. You've got to do something that makes the hair on the back of their neck
stand up. You've got to leave them in awe. But the only way to do that is to get that good. And the only way to get that good
is to pick one thing
and go at it with everything you've got.
Do you ever get anything wrong?
What do you do when you make a mistake?
I get everything wrong.
It's just that I can't recall it
because once it's wrong,
I'm moving on to the next thing.
Like dwelling on what you f***ed up on is'm moving on to the next thing. Like, dwelling on what you up on
is the quickest way for the next thing not to work.
Right?
So like, so, I think I do everything.
I mean, you know this, this is a fun thing to say.
Some people in the back know this.
I was a breakout YouTube star in the first year, 2006.
I decided that the right strategy
was to leave YouTube completely
and go to Vidler because
Vidler offered me equity in their company
and I've left an enormous amount
of attention. I deviated
from my intention thesis to do
short term economics and equity in a company
and I lost.
I lost. When DRock finally came into my life
two years ago and we started to try to build up my YouTube
for the first time, I was sitting on 40,000 user followers
in a world where I could have had millions
if I just stayed the course.
So I make mistakes all the time.
I'm re-orging VaynerMedia every day
because it's based on a mistake I made the prior year.
I just don't give a about my mistakes.
Everybody else cares about your mistakes.
If you're worried about your own mistakes,
you've already lost.
I've had lots of bad luck in my life,
but I think having bad luck is equally as important
because when you have bad luck in life,
you have to reflect.
You have to take the knowledge from that experience.
We've all been treated badly.
We've all made mistakes.
We've all had bad luck.
So what we have to do is reflect,
take the knowledge from that experience,
and then allow it to enrich our life.
It's as simple as that.
And let's be honest,
when people say, do you have any regrets, Marco?
I say no.
Because had it not been for all those mistakes I made,
I wouldn't have the knowledge that I have today.
I wouldn't have the experience that I have today. I wouldn't have the experience that I have today.
Because mistakes are fine as long as you take the knowledge from the mistake.
Through a series of events, I learned the power that we have in our brain.
When I overcame so many challenges when I was launching rockets of being a woman
and being a person of color in a predominantly area that was
different than myself, I had to think differently.
I had to think, all right, I'm going to stand out.
Everything that I do is going to have to be twice as good.
That's just the nature of it.
And I had to change the way in which I was thinking in order to do that. How am I going to be such a contributing force to this environment
that whenever I leave, I've made a difference? And when I realized that, and then when I coupled
that with the aspect of mathematics, where the same type of math that we use to launch to Mars
is the same type of math that we use to literally reshape our own brain.
I realized the power of our thoughts. When we are aware of where we are, what we're doing,
and more importantly, the decision that we have in front of us, the choice in our thought in a situation, whatever decision that we make in that full awareness, that decision in itself
is a fractal moment in chaos that literally changes the brain at that very moment to
restructure it inside of your head so you can unleash your power. When you look at how are my
thoughts going to align with where I want to go, and you decide that moment in time where you decide,
this is a thought that's going to get me to being a rocket scientist.
This is a thought that's going to get me to be a doctor.
This is a thought to get me to be a host of my own show.
Whatever it takes, I'm going to have all the type of thoughts
that's going to get me closer to where I want to go in the future.
When we realize that we have a choice in how we think about things, where we have a choice, are we going to be scared about something?
Are we going to go for it no matter what's going to happen?
That is when we unleash this power to here.
When you are expected to succeed by your mentors or parents or teachers,
when there is an expectation on your life to do well,
at an early age you adopt it, you address it, you adhere to it, you create it.
But if you are never given that opportunity to know what you are capable of doing,
if you are never given that word, that encouragement that says,
do you know what?
You can be good at mathematics even though you failed algebra and geometry and calculus and chemistry,
which I did.
You can actually do well in mathematics. If there's not someone showing you your worth when you can't see it,
you'll forever be looking in the mirror thinking that you're not worth what you are.
When you see exactly what you don't want, if you can take the exact opposite of that,
that's how you find out what you do want. For example, when we launched rockets, we knew,
okay, we didn't want there to be an explosion out the jacket, which was like the side of the rocket,
but we wanted the explosion to go down. So we thought, okay, what is the worst case scenario?
And the worst case scenario is, okay, there will be a kind of tired flames blowing out where we
don't want it to go. So we're like, how can we prevent that?
How can we focus on where we do want it to go?
Where's the ideal part for it to go?
And the ideal part is for the, the,
all the flames to go down the tubes and go through and create a plume.
So what we had to do in that aspect is literally envision exactly what we
didn't want and figure out the chain of events that could possibly get us there to what we don't want and then
go backwards. The beauty about working in rocket science is that I had the ability
to observe genius brains and I realized that any of us can gain a genius brain
no matter what age we're at. It doesn't matter.
Forget what anyone's ever told you.
You can gain a smart brain at any age.
Every decision that you make reshapes your brain.
The more powerful you are in making decision after decision after decision,
the more powerful your brain becomes.
Does that make you really careful about what decisions you make?
Like, are you super aware when you're making decisions?
I've learned to become aware to see,
all right, this is where I want to go.
How is this decision going to help me get there?
It's always keeping that in the back of your head,
like, this is where I'm going to go.
And I'd made the decision very early in life
that no matter where I was, I was going going to change it I was going to change it so
I would leave my mark to be able to help in a very powerful way so people after I
leave would be able to make their own mark and build it in a way in which
was going to be very powerful for their life.
If you're a person in science, technology, engineering, mathematics,
that word STEM, go into it, do it.
There is such an overwhelming need for you.
You have the ability to see the big picture.
You have the ability not only to do the mathematics,
but you have the ability to see the big picture
and use your communication skills
in order for people to see how important concepts are. So that is the gift that you bring. If you
have the opportunity to go into that, do it. Thanks for listening. Kindly support the movement of this podcast by supporting us or subscribing to our premium content for more exclusive stuff.
