Wake up.
Wake up.
I'm talking to you.
You know who you are.
We can get so wrapped up in this swirl of busyness, distraction, and noise that we lose ourselves.
Get up and give back to yourself.
Who were you before you were heard?
What if?
You could use pain as a fuel.
Imagine if you can use the pain as a passport.
Imagine if you can use the pain to push you.
What if the pain can make you better?
What if the pain?
could build muscle. What if the pain could cause you to retire to leap farther, to run faster?
What if the pain could help you? Because you wouldn't have prayed like you pray had you not been hurt.
You wouldn't love like you love had you not been hurt because you know what it's like to hate somebody.
It doesn't matter who did not accept me, who rejected me, who did not see my value.
None of that matters. Yesterday is God. Always.
you have is the present.
Make this your moment to no longer be a prisoner of the past.
I'm just wondering if there's anybody that want to stop complaining about it and it's
going to use it to your advantage.
The past is not your prison.
The past is your platform to build what it is that you were placed in this world to build.
I've got to look myself in the mirror every single day.
I'm either going to allow the pain to eat me alive, I'm going to allow the pain to fuel.
Once you get that itch, once you smell that potential, all of a sudden the world opens up to you.
This is the moment that you have been waiting for.
This is for you.
Everything you're about to do is for you.
So make that decision that there's no turning back.
So if you wake up in the morning and you don't want to do something,
You don't care enough about yourself.
And that's what you need to really research is, man, why am I not doing this for myself?
Because that is the number one purpose in life is to better oneself.
Real talk.
Some of you motherfuckers piss me to fuck off.
Guy, his knees are bad.
See how he runs.
Yeah, see how I run towards a mile, motherfucker.
What were you doing for the last 65 hours?
I know what I was doing
I was running all up and down the fucking mountains
doing what I preach about
stay hard
if you're willing to suffer
and I mean suffer
your brain and your body
once connected together
can do anything
if you want to be great
you want to be baddest motherfucker ever
at what you do
you can be misunderstood by everybody
because you're going to be so
obsessed and so driven to get there
That's what it takes.
Do things you hate to do.
Be uncomfortable every fucking day of your life.
We run up from the truth.
So the only way I became successful was going towards the truth.
As painful and as brutal as it is, it changed me.
It allowed me to become who I am today.
I've trained 99% of my life alone.
I can take myself to such a level of real, real passion and purpose by myself.
anyone. That's why people come to me to motivate them.
They don't know me, son.
We all think about quitting and shit's hard.
And this is where people lose.
It's hard to process information during pain.
You're thinking about fight or flight, save yourself.
That's not a rational thought.
It's not a thought that's going to get you through hard times.
I have a resume full of the motivation.
That whenever I'm down, I'm like, oh, hang on, motherfucker.
Oh, you know.
You know the truth.
The only way you're ever going to get to the other side of this journey is you have got to suffer, to grow.
To grow, you must suffer.
And some people get it and some people won't.
Normal people get normal results.
Weird people get weird results.
You literally can't do what everyone else does and not expect to get what everyone else has.
By doing what everyone else does, you guarantee average results.
Be the guy who embraces the ugly, the miserable.
Be the guy who embraces hard work, the grind.
Don't be afraid of being hurt.
Don't be afraid of sacrifice to some blood.
You asked all my teammates.
One thing about Michael Jordan was he never asked me to do something that he didn't do.
And they're going to say, well, he wasn't really a nice guy.
He may have been a tyrant.
Well, that's you because you never wanted anything.
If you're cool with walking in the shadows of yourself and you know the only person you got is the man right there in the shadow man
How you doing pretty good? How you doing? All right man, cool, cool
It's kind of weird having a conversation with you but ain't no one else around because everyone else has faded way back then
Way back there now if you're cool with that kind of walk of life
Tell you man
World is your playground so I went to a powerlifting competition a couple of years ago
there's this one guy there lifting
holds a bunch of records in the squat
and he's a normal working class guy
from a normal working class town
on the outskirts of Newcastle
and watching that man warm up
is something else
he's got a sacred playlist
he never listens to the songs
apart from when he's about to step on
to the lifting platform
he's got these headphones on
and he's just walking up and down
in the same way that you'd see a bull
ready, ready to go out, ready to go and chase something
and he steps
out on stage and the hairs stand up on the back of your neck.
You're watching this guy channel fury.
That's the god of war.
It's your brother, your mom, your friend, the one comment they're going to say, you've changed.
Why are you doing another kick like this?
Oh, you're going to try that now.
Okay, here we go again.
The thing is, is that it's not about them being right or wrong.
Again, it's about how right and how wrong.
could be, let's say you wanted to start a podcast in the past, and you did three episodes,
and then you fell off. And then they think, I told you, so stop with these dreams, stop with this
crazy content stuff. You're never going to become an influencer, or whatever your goal is,
replace influencer of whatever your thing is. The thing is, is that you are still closer,
having done three than having done zero. And so it's just about directional correctness
and realizing that
criticizers are more often correct
but when it matters most incorrect.
But for some reason I thought that I needed to be the guy.
And I said, no, you know what?
You don't need to be the guy.
Your leader. You need to support your leader.
And it's not about you.
And so that right there also changed my attitude
because then from then on in my career and in my life,
I realized, hey, I don't always need to be the center of attention, which is what our ego wants us to do.
Our ego always wants it to be about us.
And it's not about us.
It's not about us at all.
In fact, in a situation like that, where the platoon commander wants to do something,
maybe he sees something that I don't see.
Maybe he's got a different strategic objective that he wants to accomplish, and I'm undermining that.
And what does that do to our platoon?
Hey, it makes me feel great because I think, oh, yeah, I might not be the guy in charge, but I'm out here making the calls.
That's your ego.
And what you have to do is subordinate your ego and be your ego.
supportive of the person that's in charge and you move forward together as a team because that's what it's about.
It's not about me. It's about the team. If you are someone that deals with a crippling sense of
insufficiency, your ability to discount any good thoughts you have in your mind is going to be so strong.
If you try and lead with positivity first, I need to think it, wish it, believe it, and I will achieve it.
Your set point of negativity is going to just crush that into the ground. I'm speaking from
personal experience, right, as the guy that was chronically unconfident and still how.
has the imposter syndrome that does creep in, you have to start with action.
It needs to be, okay, what would have had to have happened in a week's time for me to look back
on that week and find pride in myself?
Stop breaking promises to yourself.
When you say, I'm going to wake up tomorrow at 7 a.m.
And when the option comes to hit the snooze button, don't do it.
There's one win that you've got for the day.
That's action.
Stick to your plan.
Anticipate.
Don't improvise.
Trust.
No one never yield an advantage.
Fight only the battle.
You're paid to fight.
Each and every step of the way, ask yourself, what's in it for me?
This is what it takes.
Choosing the plan isn't hard.
Doing the plan isn't hard.
Sticking to the plan is hard.
The money isn't made in the buy, and it's not made in the cell.
It's made in the weight.
Like, I just feel like that's such an elegant way of thinking about it.
It's like the hard part about the plan is sticking to the plan.
Like, the plan wasn't bad.
Your first plan was good because it's easy to go say, I'm going to work out three days a week
for the next year. And it's a good plan. Pretty good plan. It's a pretty good plan. And the
interesting thing is that like a mediocre plan that's stuck to always outperforms an amazing and
perfect plan that you never stick with to begin with. And I know this obviously from the fitness
world, but it applies to everything. And so like the stick to it muscle is the one that you have to
flex. And that's why like if you're going through thing is you have, especially in the earlier days,
like I'm a race to start and stop and start and stop and I try this thing. I try that thing.
It's normal because you haven't been reinforced enough of sticking with something.
If you feel like right now you're looking around and you're lost or directionless,
I would take about 15 minutes and figure out what the hell you want to do with your life
and I would start getting after it.
You see, you take things in your own hands and you push against it and you push against it until it's upright.
And you stick to the plan.
I heard a thing about Bill Walsh.
He would script his first 15 plays of the game.
It was irrelevant what was happening in the world because he had his plan.
Now, that might have made him a little unflexible in some ways,
but it also meant that if something went wrong,
he wasn't scrambling.
It wasn't looking for order and direction
because, like, there was a plan
and all he had to do was stick to the plan.
You know what I noticed?
Nobody panics when things go according to plan,
even if the plan is horrifying.
But here's the thing.
Once something's important to you,
it never leaves your mind.
If you always dreamt about being a singer-songwriter, and you never did it, you'll be haunted by that at the age of 70, because it's still right here stored in the back of your mind.
It's something that's meant for you that's trying to call to you.
You see, your dreams, you either pursue them or they fucking haunt you.
You stick to what you put there on paper.
You take your time, you make the plan, and unless you really are sick or have some type of hire.
excuse, you just do what you have committed to. And this struggling of, there are still so many
distractions now, but you stick to the plan. I don't adapt anything. I stick with a plan.
Stick with a plan. Sometimes you just got to go after it and attack. Attack those dreams.
Attack their desires. Attack the person that you know you can be, but not this other person
that you know you shouldn't be.
And that's that lazy individual that resides inside of you right now.
And it's telling you not to get up, not to go forward, not to get better.
Is that who you really are?
I don't think so.
Tough times will happen.
And you just got to get tougher.
Let's be honest, ladies and gentlemen, we've all had those days where we just not feeling it.
We don't want to get out of bed.
If we don't want to go to work, we don't want to go to the gym, we want to wait for someone to save us, to make us better when we have the power within ourselves.
Throughout life, no matter what you do, who you are, where you come from, there are going to be some things that you may not even understand why it's happening to you in your life right now.
Why is this happening to me?
What did I do to deserve this?
But I may to let you know, there's a season for this and there is a reason for this.
Not everything is going to go to where you want.
That I do know.
But you have to stand fast and you've got to keep pushing forward.
Don't get lost in the abyss of giving up.
Just because it's not working for you right now doesn't mean you stop working.
Do you have the strength?
Do you have the mindset to release?
this lazy mentality, don't wait for something to happen.
You make it happen.
Lazy is not going to get that weight off your chest.
Lazy is not going to help you to drop those pounds.
Lazy is not going to help you to go that extra mile.
Lazy, it's not your last name.
Do not hold yourself back from your true potential.
What you possess inside.
Make this day count.
Make every rep count.
Make every breath that you take count.
How much pain can you endure?
You're going to feel like you can't carry on.
You're going to feel that sense of emptiness,
that sense of weakness.
And not everyone is ready for it.
Not everyone is built for it.
But what about you?
And lazy.
Make the most of your life right now.
It's tough.
I know it.
It gets even tougher along the way.
So I want you to really hold on tight and give it everything you got.
Know that there is a chance for you.
I need you to really focus on where you want to go in your life.
Doesn't matter what other people think about you.
You feel like if you're going too fast, everybody's saying you're going to
fast, maybe I should slow down. Or do you really want to slow down? Do you really want to
stop bettering yourself? Do you really want to give up on yourself? I mean, don't get me wrong,
ladies and gentlemen, there's nothing wrong with patience. But sometimes you can't wait too long.
If you're sitting around, just waiting, you're going to be waiting a long, long, long time.
And you have no time for that. Because time is of an essence.
and time, as we all know, doesn't wait for anyone.
So what are you going to do?
Are you just going to sit around?
Or you're going to just continue to believe that you don't have what it takes?
It's time to release the best of you inside right now.
Tomorrow has not come yet.
Too many people believe in tomorrow, but they don't believe in the now, the right now.
You cannot afford to wait to better yourself.
The pain that you will endure along this journey in your life, it's a process.
But keep your head up and stop looking down.
I know sorrow comes, anger comes, sadness comes.
You feel all of these things putting you in a position where you just don't think you got it.
But I believe you do.
But you got to believe it too.
So keep on pushing forward.
Times are tough.
Life is tough.
But life is good because you're living right now.
And all you need to do is to continue to be the best of yourself.
Don't doubt yourself.
Don't feel that you're the only one that's hurting because you're not.
Believe me, ladies and gentlemen, there are a lot of people out there right now who just don't have it anymore.
And you just want to let go.
They refuse to hold on.
But you got to hold on.
Just know there is a chance for you.
Right now, at this moment, there is a chance for you.
All you have to do is just continue to go forward.
The obstacles that you will face along the way, that's just the nature of the beast.
You can't avoid it, but you can go through it.
Your abilities, your drive, the determination that you must have
will get you to where you need to be.
But you must come to realize that pain is temporary.
Do you have the strength?
Do you have the mindset to release this lazy mentality?
What do you have within you?
Are you really strong enough to carry on?
Put away to doubt.
Put away to negativity.
Put away to fear.
And go after it.
Don't look back.
What's behind you?
Leave it there.
What's in front of you is your destiny.
Every movement, every step, every breath that you take must count for something good.
Know that you are going to make it.
This is your opportunity.
Enough with the excuses.
I will be greater than my pain.
I will be greater than my excuses.
I will be greater than the ground.
that I run on beneath my feet,
for I am above the ground and not under it.
Get yourself in the right perspective in life
because there will be many more challenges ahead.
And some of these challenges will make you or break you.
You can bend, but you do not have the right to be broken.
Get up and run with a purpose.
You know better.
That's time to do better.
So keep on pushing forward.
Done.
Be productive.
Be powerful.
And from the bottom of my heart,
keep it moving.
Run hard.
Run strong.
And conduct your business.
And the great titans of the great titans of industry.
Many of them got up at 5-Aim.
Even right now, you've got Tim Cook and you've got Howard Shultz
that goes on and on.
I get up really early.
I'm an early bird.
Like it, four to five.
You still wake up at 4 a.m.?
I'm 4.30.
Pick a time and start waking up at that time every day.
It doesn't have to be 4.40.
It could be 8 o'clock, could be 7 o'clock.
It doesn't matter.
It could be 11 o'clock.
But try and go to bed around the same time
and try and wake up around the same time.
And that's going to be a great foundation
for everything that you're doing.
Keeping promises to yourself is
just this insanely powerful tactic.
Before the sun rises is the time of least distraction.
Before the sun rises where you can build intimacy and fluency
with what you want to stand for in your day.
I run in the morning, right?
And as morning runs for me provide a lot of solitude.
It's at one time where I have an hour or hour and a half every day.
It's dark out, it's quiet, I don't have my phone.
There's no notifications.
My mind is clear.
It is some of the most powerful moments of my day.
I need that more mentally than physically.
Right, so we have to do the thing that our body wants us to do.
Be congruent with the man you want to be.
If you don't, the inner self-talk will always be negative.
Tomorrow, live congruently to the man you want to be.
Don't hit the snooze button.
Maybe you're sick and tired of hitting the sooze button.
Just literally flip the switch.
There's not a motherfucker that's up.
There's not a car.
There's not a person.
Everybody's in their bed, sleep, dreading that it's a Monday.
day, hey this a Monday, and I'm loving it.
I don't need an alarm clock.
All I need is my passion to wake me up.
All I need is my passion to push me.
All I need is my passion to grind.
Are you ready to be your own boss?
Well, it's time to boss up and get rid of that alarm clock
and allow your internal clock to get you going.
You've decided that you're not going to allow your circumstances to define you.
You've decided that you're not going to allow the events, the things, the people, life, determine who you become.
No alarm clock needed.
My passion wakes me up.
This is about you finally being your own boss.
This is about being inspired to be your best without somebody else pushing you.
This is about pushing yourself.
You're not going to go through life being a whiner, being a complainer, that you're going to take responsibility for what it is.
you want to create. The greatest ability that God has given humankind above the animals,
his ability to choose.
You to wake up and cry like it's your only moment. I need you to practice like it's your only
moment. I need you to study like it's your only moment. I need you to play like you ain't got
nothing else. If I lose speaking, I don't know what I'm going to do. So every single day,
I just like to see if I still got it. I like, I just want to see it 54 if I can still come
into a room and I can still light you up. I just want to see.
if I can take your mind and stretch it in the way you've never stretched.
I just want to see if I can bring that dog out of you.
I just want to see if you got that heart.
I'm playing right now.
I ain't making the money I've normally made.
But why am I doing it?
This is all I got.
We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other thing.
Not because they are easy, but because they are hard.
I think a lot of entrepreneurship and even personal growth is training yourself on how you respond to hard.
because in the early days hard was, oh, stop.
This is a warning sign.
This is a red flag.
I should slow down or I should pivot.
But the more I think about it as a competitive landscape as I'm clear on what this path is supposed to look like.
I get happier about the harder it is because I know that no one else will follow.
And I think if you can shift from this is hard to no one else will be able to do this,
then it flips from being this thing that you're like, oh, poor me to, oh, poor everyone else who's going to have to fucking try.
Try.
Find something difficult to do.
You need that.
You're not built for comfort or pleasure.
Like if that comes along, good.
You know, if you have a day where you're comfortable and there's some things around you that give pleasure, have some sense and enjoy it.
But don't be thinking that's what your life is aimed at.
One of the things for people who are not where they want to be is that they have pain, like oodles of pain.
like oodles of pain. And I remember when I was starting out, I was looking for passion. I was
looking for purpose. I was like, I just want to find something that I'm motivated by. But it's the,
it's the cat and the cheese. It's like we're looking for cheese, but we have all these cat behind us.
And all we have to do is look and remember that they're behind us and chasing us. And so if you
have the cat and you're staying in your current situation, you're being used by the cat, right?
You're being used by the business owner who, you know, it doesn't treat you well and is, you know,
and you're in this job that you don't really want to be in, right? Or you're being used by,
the situation or the context of the relationship that you're in with the girl that you're like not that into right
versus saying like this is terrible and because of this terribleness I now have something that I can run away from
and then like rather than not looking at the knife or trying to take painkillers to not feel the pain like completely sobering up
taking the knife and twisting it in your own heart and being like I'm gonna fucking do something about this
it's not avoiding pain it's choosing from the very beginning the alchemy which is like you have these
terrible situations. It's like, and you have the opportunity to turn, turn them into magic and skip
or shortcut all the growth you're going to have in a really short period of time simply by twisting
the knife and being like, I'm going to do something about it. If you do what is easy, complain about
your situation and your circumstances. If you do what is easy, stand around and be a volunteer victim
like everybody else. If you do what is easy, surrender and give up on your dreams. Become depressed and
bitter and angry.
Anybody can do that.
If you do what is easy, your life will be hard.
But if you do what is hard, keep coming back again and again and again.
If you do what is hard approaching strangers talking to people in shopping malls,
get up dressed every day, going out prospecting, knowing some way, somehow,
with a spirit of expectation, somebody's out here looking for an opportunity.
And if you do that over and over and over again, somebody's going to.
to show up. Somebody's going to say, I'm the one. You say, the emotionally immature man seeks
out motivation to do something hard one time. The emotionally mature man uses discipline to do
something hard a thousand times. Why is emotional maturity related to motivation and discipline?
Because when you have emotional maturity, you realize that some days you're not going to sleep well.
Some days you're going to wake up and you've got your schedule and everything's planned out and the
poop hits the fan. And whether things go well or not that day, the emotionally mature man
will still do what he has to do to stack his winds to focus on his purpose, whereas the emotionally
immature man will say, well, I didn't sleep. Well, I had nightmares, so I'll stay in bed. It's raining
outside. It's cold outside. I don't feel good. You have to stay the course no matter what.
And it takes a high level of emotional maturity because your emotions dictate your motion,
like what you're going to do. And so if you have emotional maturity, you're more likely to
lean into discipline when things are suboptimal.
If you lack emotional maturity, then how you feel determines what you do next,
which is very damaging to outcome-driven humans.
It's easy to give up.
It's easy.
It's the easiest thing in the world to do, I'm done.
I ain't going.
I ain't going to keep going.
I don't feel like going to work.
I'm done.
Yeah, man.
It's easy.
It's very easy.
But what's hard is going, yo, yesterday, I got nothing from work.
working as hard as I could.
Nothing happened from that.
I'm going to do the same thing again today, but I'm going to try to go harder.
That's the hardest thing in the world.
To get up every day and give 100% and be in the same position that you were each day,
but mentally know that you're trying and trying and trying, that's a real, that's a real grind.
Freud said in retrospect, the struggle will strike you as most beautiful.
Like the years of struggle will strike you as most beautiful.
And it's true. You think about the worst moments of your life from earlier.
Now they're integrated into who you are. And in some ways, we understand that we couldn't and wouldn't be where we are without those things.
Not only is that true in a positive way, but it's also just true in how the mind works. Like, this is what cognitive dissonance does. It works on you in a way that that makes this thing for the best, even if it wasn't for the best. Like, we're so worried about, like, will I regret it? You won't regret it.
because you actually don't have that many regrets at all.
The mind is pretty good at minimizing that feeling of regret.
We convince ourselves that what happened was for the best.
So we know this is almost certainly where we're going to end up.
And so why torture yourself in the interim, right?
Why not give yourself some of that grace now?
Go do something that's hard.
Go try and accomplish something that's hard.
You may win.
You may lose.
You may succeed, you may fail.
I'll tell you what, you'll be better.
If you avoid those things that are hard,
if you don't accept that challenge,
if you don't step up and step into that cold water,
I can tell you this is not a good move.
This is not a good move.
Don't do that.
Don't do that.
Just get up.
Move towards that challenge, whatever that challenge is.
Move towards that challenge and go attack it.
And you may be successful and you may not be successful, but you will be better.
And the next challenge, you're going to be more prepared for.
And the next challenge after that, you're going to be even more prepared for.
