No spin, no bias, no censorship. I'm Dan Wotton. This is Outspoken Live, episode number 11.
Race riots in Leeds. the authorities lose control of the streets as buses burn and police cars are attacked by young
children in front of adults distraught locals complain of no-go areas.
But a local Muslim politician blames the system.
And Labour finds a way to attack Nigel Farage.
Multiculturalism has failed.
Britain is being burnt up in front of our eyes, both physically and metaphorically.
But the MSM would rather talk
about anything else. Well, we will talk about it and show you the horrific footage because
the cone of silence must be lifted. Also coming up today, senile Joe Biden digs his heels in as
Donald Trump speaks for the first time publicly about the assassination attempt that nearly took his life.
But at the RNC, Channel 4 News simply want to hound Nigel Farage and Liz Truss.
I'll show you the astonishing footage and we'll debate with my superstar panel, Alex Armstrong and Nicholas Lesac.
Then the uncancelled interview with my special guest, Sharon Davies, the Olympic swimming hero ahead of Paris 2024.
Is women's sport safe from extreme trans ideology?
She'll deliver her verdict.
And this is very exciting.
In the uncancelled after show today, my amazing mama, Mary Wooten, is the first in-person guest right here in our brand new Outspoken studio.

You've just got to hit the bell to do that.
We need an independent media revolution to tell you the truth,
so your support means everything. Let's go.
It was impossible to see the horrifying pictures coming out of the Leeds race riots last night
and think anything other than the UK has fallen.
Bricks being thrown at police who ended up having to retreat? The city eventually burning down with no sign of law enforcement whatsoever after a relatively
minor incident involving a family and authorities turned into an excuse for all out violence. Dacă vă place rețeta, puteți da like, comentariu și să distribuiți acest material video pe alte rețele sociale. Just unbelievable.
But I want to show you the video that caused me the most reason to lose hope.
So have a look at what's going on here. You will see a police car and it has its lights flashing.
So I have no idea if anyone was inside.
And the adults who attack this police car then allow the children to do the same thing.
Watch what's going on. I'm sorry, to me
that is a broken community
what we are seeing there are not English values or British values.
I mean, it truly comes from another world.
It's horrifying.
And they keep going and going and going and allowing the children.
There's a woman getting involved.
Seriously, where is the morality? Where is the sense of what's right?
And it so clearly isn't right. And it so clearly isn't Britain. And it is so clearly, totally
lawless. This was the video that upset me most, actually.
And of course, this was all in the suburb of Hare Hills, where the violence was centred.
And earlier today on GB News, a local from the community told how his home has become a no-go area and he also explained how he was attacked very recently for wearing an England football shirt. And you say it's a no-go zone,
do you not feel safe? I don't feel safe, nothing, nothing used to, I'm 59 years of age now,
nothing used to ever bother me here, nothing. A week and a bit ago I was walking on the lane, 29 mlynedd oeddi ar hyn o bryd, dim ond hynny oedd yn hoffi fy mhobl. Ystod wythnos a chyntaf, roeddwn i'n mynd ar y lline, â'r siort Cymraeg i mewn a'r siort Cymraeg.
Rwy'n ceisio cadw'n glin fel y gallaf, ond byddwch yn deall.
Cymerwch y...
...blydi...
...bw...
...diffin beth na hynny, y top off Cymraeg.
Gadael o'r ardal.
Rwyf wedi tyfu yma, rwyf wedi'i ffynnu yma.
Mae'n rhaid i chi gadael yno, Grae. That England top off, get out of our area.
I've grown up here, I'm born here.
Just have to leave it there, Greg.
You say it's a no-go zone, do you not feel safe? And of course you shouldn't feel safe.
But the local councillor, Mothan Ali, from the Leeds Green Party,
who, in fairness, and good on him for this,
had tried to stop the violence and stop many of the new fires being lit,
well, he seemed to blame everyone else.
How it started isn't exactly clear.
I mean, what's happened is an absolute travesty what's happened.
Our community has been let down for so long,
whether it's by the local government, whether it's by the national government, whether it's by the local authorities.
Our community has been badly let down.
Our community has been badly neglected.
We've suffered massively from underinvestment.
This sort of thing was just bubbling under the surface.
It took an action by social services
whether it's right or wrong
I can't be the judge of that
I don't know the details
whether it was right or wrong I don't know
but that action sparked a gathering of people
the police had that contained
it was peaceful
it was noisy
I mean there was a lot of criminal damage done
but it wasn't to this extent
once the police withdrew I mean there were there was a lot of criminal damage done, but it wasn't to this extent
Once the police withdrew
encouraged the crowds to become even more violent and this is when the
we've had looting taking place a
Delivery van had all its fridges and all everything else taken out and set on fire
This bus behind us they were attacking this bus.
So I got onto the bus, I got the bus driver off,
I got the two passengers off,
and I escorted them round the back,
away from the crowds to safety.
But the thing is, this is our community,
it's our neighbourhood.
Whatever burns here is ours, it belongs to us.
It's our neighbourhood that's being burnt down here.
Now, if we don't stand up and take some pride
in our own community and stand up and say, look, you can't be doing this on our watch, ein neiborhedd sy'n cael ei ddysgu yno. Nawr, os nad ydym yn sefyll arno a chael rhan mewn ein cymuned ein hunain
ac yn sefyll ac yn dweud,
dydych chi ddim yn gallu gwneud hynny ar ein gwylio,
ac mae'r polis a'r gwasanaethau cymdeithasol
a'r awdurdodau llywodraethol ddim yn gallu gofio am ni.
Maen nhw'n rhaid eu gweld o'n gilydd.
Oherwydd rydyn ni yma, rydyn ni'n dynion dynol
ac mae'n rhaid i ni fod yn cael ein trafod fel hyn.
A oes gennych chi adborth newydd o'r polis a'r ffibergig? to be treated like it. Have you had any updates from police and Fibre Geek?
I mean the police did try and come back earlier on.
A few hours ago the police tried to come back but they were being pelted heavily with bricks and bottles
and all kinds of other things. Me and a couple of other guys were trying to protect the police
but when it got too much the police had to back off. They just didn't have the numbers to try and control the crowd.
Can you believe that is a suburb of Leeds?
It looks like a war-torn nation in the Middle East.
Nigel Farage tweeted,
The politics of the subcontinent are currently playing out on the streets of Leeds.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
And he's right, even if it prompted the predictable outrage from Labour politicians like
Alex Sobel, the Labour MP for Leeds Central, who said the Reform UK leader was
inflaming a situation with misinformation. Rubbish. Absolute rubbish.
If everyone continues to be too terrified to talk
about this mess and the abject failure of multiculturalism and unrelenting mass
immigration then we are going to lose the United Kingdom we so love.
But to react it's time for our superstar panel. And today I'm joined by the political commentator
Alex Armstrong and a new voice in British politics during the election campaign,
one of the most outspoken young supporters of Reform UK, Nicholas Lesak. Alex, goodness me,
these scenes were absolutely shocking last night. And it feels
to me like the mainstream media are doing whatever they can to try and push this story
into the background today. They're much more interested in the big technology outage and
they want to report much more on the people who are saying that Nigel Farage was somehow spreading misinformation.
Well, talking of technology outages, I do apologize in advance to the audience as I'm
experiencing many technology problems myself at the moment. It seems to be a bit of an
international thing today, but look, you're sounding good. You're sounding good and we can
see you. That's brilliant. Fantastic. I mean, look, Dan, you nailed it. The mainstream media are playing the same old tactics,
which is completely avoid this massive story,
which has consumed social media for the last 24 hours.
People want to know what's going on, what's happened,
and frankly, where the prime minister's been,
because I think he clocked off at 6 p.m. yesterday.
He hasn't been seen since.
And, you know, Channel 4 haven't even put a story out on this.
That is unbelievable.
They are far more interested in...
It is. It's completely unbelievable.
They're far more distracted with trying to chase down politicians in America.
And as you said, Dan, you know, worrying about this outage,
which, frankly, no one in Britain can do anything
about, then actually
talk about a topic that is really
at the hearts and minds of British people which is
what is going on in our country, what has
happened in Leeds
But in all seriousness Alex, just
imagine if
this had been England football
fans or Tommy Robinson
supporters at the weekend,
it would be completely dominating every news broadcast and every journalist's agenda in the whole country.
The reality is they know if they talk about this situation in Leeds, it actually opens up a far bigger can of worms.
Yeah, and this is, look, we know their agenda is to cover this up as much as possible
and to now that there's a labor government completely and reimagine that these things
are no longer happening and that keir starmer's may waved a magic wand and that it's all gone away
and as you right rightfully said dan if this was a bunch of england flat fans coming out of a stadium
and they were starting to riot the police would be down there with their horses, their battens, their police cars, their riot gear
within minutes.
It's frankly quite shocking.
The police showed up in Leeds at this riot and then drove off in the other direction,
probably because they were under-resourced.
And this is not the first time we've seen violence in Leeds.
We saw high streets being, stealing from jewellery stores and other places.
Yeah, and the thing is, what message does this send, by the way, to these groups of young men,
that actually if you do riot, then the police are just going to back off.
They're not going to bring in their riot gear.
They're going to be too terrified to do anything. Nicholas, you were a big supporter of Nigel Farage over the course of the election campaign, and you became one of the young faces
of Reform UK, which of course had this groundswell of support from young men. Now, how do you feel about the fact that this
Labour MP, Alex Sopel, immediately tried to accuse Nigel Farage, the Reform UK leader,
of spreading misinformation when he tweeted his concern about the politics of the subcontinent
being imported to the streets of England? Well, I think he's simply afraid to talk about the real
issue here. And the real issue here is that multiculturalism has failed as a concept. I mean,
if you look at the streets, if you look at what was going on, it was tremendous. It was horrendous
what happened. And this type of writing, this type of action has only really begun since we started
importing basically anybody from the third world into this country. What we witnessed last night was an example of why multiculturalism has completely failed.
And, you know, of course, it's a Labour MP. You know, they're relying on these people for their
votes. But, you know, I think we need to go further. I think that any foreigner caught,
even if they're here legally, if any foreigner was caught partaking in these rights, they should be
deported immediately. And moreover, this is a huge embarrassment for the Labour government
as it completely goes against what they're saying.
They're saying that multiculturalism is working, that it's brilliant
and that we're all better off together.
That's not the case.
That's not the case at all.
And the fact that we're afraid, that Labour MPs are afraid to talk about
the real issue here is deeply concerning to our democracy, quite frankly,
deeply concerning.
And the thing is, Alex, this isn't just happening in Leeds.
Last night, there were actually riots amongst Bangladeshi locals
protesting against a local Bangladeshi issue in Whitechapel,
where hundreds of young men attacked the police.
Yeah, look, this is a UK-wide problem.
We can't isolate it to one part of Britain
because we know that this has been something
that the UK government has spread immigration
across the country.
It's not just, unfortunately,
concentrated in one area
so we can focus in our cities.
But the reality is, Dan,
is that the failure of
assimilation goes back 30 years since Tony Blair opened the floodgates. And that has been
perpetuated by Tory government after Tory government, who have, even though we have voted
in election after election to lower immigration and solve this problem, have still not managed
to get the message from the public, hence why young people like Nicholas are turning to reform
in their droves. I wonder where the Keir Starmer deliberately left the vote to
16 bill off because the reality is many more young people are turning to reform than people
think they are. But you know, Dan, you're right. This is a problem across the country.
And look, I was born and raised in London. I can't afford to get a home here. We are
at a housing crisis, a policing crisis, a healthcare crisis. The crisis
just goes on. It's just a national crisis at this point. And we can't keep on welcoming people into
our country that don't share our values as a beginning point of immigration. We must take
people from countries that share our beliefs. And that is one of the biggest parts of the failure
of our immigration system over the last 30 years. And it's not going to get any better.
And Nicholas, do you get a sense from your friends,
from your peer group, from young people at university,
that there is a shift towards Farage and Reform UK
in the same way that we've seen that shift happen towards Le Pen
and Bardia in France? Because usually you would expect
universities, and I know they usually are, to be a hotbed of wokery. But is there a change?
Well, look, I've had my fair share of people accuse me of being every Eastern
phobe under the sun since I had declared for reform. And during the club. I'm quite frankly used to it at this point.
But I've had as many people, you know,
who've called me these horrible names
who actually have no idea who the hell I am.
And they just go out and say this horrible stuff about me.
I've had just as many people, if not more,
young people like myself, perhaps even younger than me,
going down to 15, 16 years old,
contact me and say, if they could vote,
they would vote for reform
because they are sick of this woke
political correctness, the fact we can't talk about the real issues in society because our
government, our home secretary is far too afraid to talk about what's really going on.
This was an absolute failure for her and she should resign. She's as bad a home secretary
as her husband is at dancing, so very terribly. And and quite honestly young people in their droves are
turning to reform when i was at the nec rally i helped set that up i saw so many young faces so
many young kids there some guy even brought his newborn baby with him which was astounding but
there were so many young kids that there who were inspired and they told me i spoke to a couple of
them i spoke to quite a few of them and they they all said the same thing. These, the uniparty that governs us, the Tories and Labour, they do not
have the British people's interests at heart. They don't really care about the British people.
They're infinitely more concerned with foreign policy, as we saw with Keir Starmer. He is right
now talking to all the bureaucrats, along with King Charles, instead of actually addressing
what's going on in his country. The country is totally falling apart. Yet for some reason, Labour, which appears to be a workers' party, you know,
doesn't care about the workers. They care about prolonging foreign wars. They don't care about
investing in our communities. And so I think a lot of young people who have grown up in the shadow
of Blair and conservative failure are turning to reform because they view reform as their only hope, their only salvation
in the future. And I think we're going to see things change even more. I think we're going to
see infinitely more young reform support. And I'll tell you right now, it's growing. It's growing
immensely. In fact, there are a large group of young reformers, so large, in fact, that we're
now petitioning the party to set up a youth wing, a youth wing. And we're also petitioning to have
a bit at the conference
so youth speakers, young speakers,
can come up and inspire the next generation.
Because I think one of the most important things
that the party has to do is to get the youth vote out,
especially in the locals and especially in 29.
Imperative. And you know what? We will. We will.
It's going to happen.
Well, indeed, look at Bardella in France.
And I hope Reform look at someone like you and think, actually, this is someone who we need to be embracing that youth vote and helping politicians say we can't speculate please don't
talk about why this happened and i've seen that a lot today from politicians and even from the
local police and to me that is all about shutting down this conversation because they never say that when they're talking about anti-lockdown protesters
or football hooligans or Tommy Robinson supporters. So why do they say don't speculate
any time there's some sort of issue of race or sectarianism in what's causing very obvious
violence? Because let's just state the facts here.
We've looked at all of the videos.
I haven't shown you all of them
because I think some of them will end up being used in court.
But there was a particular group of young Muslim men
who were responsible for this violence,
including, by the way,
literally setting double-decker buses on fire.
Incredible stuff.
Okay, well, look, do stand by Alex Armstrong and Nicholas Lissac because we're going to come back to you in just one moment.
But you know I have only promised to talk to you about products on this show
that are actually life-changing. And this one is a little bit more personal, but the fellas
watching are going to completely get it. And the ladies would do very well to treat their husband
or boyfriend because I promise you, this is really a game changer. So us men want our grooming
routine to be a one and done deal with the days of using the same trimmer for your face

That's not what I'm talking about, okay?
What I mean is whether, you know, you need to get precision trimming, put it that way, for all the sensitive areas.
So I'm talking about a trimmer for the moneymaker, another for the boys downstairs.
This trimmer gets it right the first time being gentle on the skin in all the delicate places.

Trust Manscaped. But now back to the show and let me return to Alex Armstrong and Nicholas
Lissac and of course, huge developments across the Atlantic where Joe Biden is under the most intense pressure to give away
the Democratic nomination, but he is digging his heels in. And this comes on the back of just a
spectacular speech from Donald Trump last night where you could really get a genuine sense of how
the failed assassination attempt has changed his entire demeanour. Watch
what happened on stage at the RMC in Milwaukee when he spoke about the exact moment where he was shot.
And felt something hit me really, really hard on my right ear.
I said to myself, wow, what was that?
It can only be a bullet. And moved my right hand to my ear, brought it down.
My hand was covered with blood, just absolutely blood all over the place. I immediately knew it was very serious that we were under attack.
And in one movement proceeded to drop to the ground.
Bullets were continuing to fly.
As very brave Secret Service agents rushed to the stage, and they really did.
They rushed to the stage, and they really did, they rushed to the stage.
These are great people at great risk, I will tell you.
And felt something.
Wow, what did you make of that speech, Alex?
Quite touching, actually.
I watched it live and actually seeing him talk about this
for the first time was quite an impact.
And just watching it back there, Dan,
to see the emotions of the audience as well,
they were clearly very impacted by all of this.
And, you know,
Trump means so much to America right now. Nigel Farage is absolutely right to put him on the spotlight in the UK,
because as we saw today with Nigel and some reporters, this is the difference between war
and peace, particularly here in Europe. And so not only does he mean a lot to domestic America, he means a lot to us internationally. And to see what happened to him due to the nasty and dangerous rhetoric that is constantly being spewed out by the mainstream media and the left-wing Democrats who still haven't repented for saying these nasty things over the last eight years even, calling hitler and fascist and a danger to democracy
it really says something about america but i'm in now in no doubt that donald trump will win
this election and he will turn the tide back that's what we need we need a strong leader for
the west and to see him alive and speaking with such enthusiasm and energy, even though the start of that speech was touching.
And he made a beautiful, beautiful tribute
to the man, Corey, that had lost his life
and those who had been injured.
But to see him back on form so quickly
shows how strong he is.
You compare that with Joe Biden,
who's hiding because he's got COVID at the moment
and he can't even sustain his presidency for much longer. And the choice is pretty stark for the American people. I mean, the 25th Amendment
should absolutely be enacted when it comes to Biden, because how on earth can they say you're
not mentally capable to run, but you're mentally capable to have your finger over the nuclear
button? I think the MSM and Democrats have really shamed themselves over this.
But speaking of the MSM, I want to show you this clip.
I mean, it's hilarious.
Channel 4 News, woke Channel 4.
We know what they're like.
But look at the massive story that's going on in the US with both Trump and Biden.
But what are they focused on?
Gotcha questions, pathetic gotcha questions
to Nigel Farage and Liz Truss.
Watch this.
Nigel Farage, have you seen Donald Trump yet?
No, I haven't.
Are you going to?
Yes.
When's your audience with him?
I don't know yet.
But you're here to see him tonight?
I am.
And did he ask you to come?
I'm here.
But did he ask you?
Were you invited?
That's got to do with you. Should you not be Were you invited? That's got to do with you.
Should you not be with your constituents?
That's got to do with you.
It's only a question.
It's an eight-day week. As long as I work seven of them, we're OK.
OK. And you're here because you're still a big Trump fan.
You think Trump's politics are the way forward?
For peace, yes.
For peace? What do you mean?
I think peace comes through strength, not through weakness.
And I think his four years were a good four years in terms of foreign policy.
Far better than anything we've seen since with Joe Biden.
Thank you.
Why you're here? Have you met President Trump?
Are you going to speak to President Trump?
Are you? We're Channel 4 News.
Have you met President Trump? Are you going to speak to President Trump? Why are you here? Liz Truss, why are you here? Liz Truss, it's
a simple question. Why are you here? Are you coming to actually see President Trump or
just to be here to soak it all up?
Would you not want to say you're actually here? You bothered to come the whole way.
I mean, I just despair about the state of our mainstream from the truly repulsive Marina Perkis,
who is one of these members of the Be Kind Left mob,
who is everything that she claims her enemy are.
She has just written about Liz Truss.
Dear Liz Truss, you're an embarrassment, a stain,
someone we collectively hope to ignore and forget. Please do yourself and the people of the United Kingdom a favour and F off into oblivion.
Which tells me that the British left, Nicholas, have learned absolutely nothing from what happened to Trump at the weekend
and the danger of that sort of subhuman rhetoric being spread about our politicians.
No, no, they haven't and I don't think they
ever will and of course the Be Kind
crowd are actually often the most toxic,
the most rude, the most vile.
I've had people with hashtag Be Kind
in their bios calling me the most
disgusting, despicable, horrendous things.
No doubt you have also been subject to this
horrendous abuse, Jack and Alex.
And even in
the States, you have these so-called
be kind people who keep saying that they wish the bullets had been an inch closer you have mark
hamill pushing a q anon level conspiracy theory that i like to call blue anon that trump actually
faked the shooting you have joy reed having breakdowns over the fact that trump wasn't
killed you have um nbc pulling shows because they're afraid that Morning
Joe, I believe it's NBC, that Morning Joe is going to not condemn the assassin and actually praise
him. It is horrendous. And the demonization of people on the right by people on the left is only
getting worse. And I'll tell you right now, circling back to what I said earlier, a lot of
young people are very afraid to come out in support of reform because they are utterly, utterly,
utterly terrified of the demonization. We saw this at the NEC when after the event, some children who had
their photos posted who were attending there, good patriotic young British kids who were
enthusiastically supporting politics at their age. At their age, I was only obsessed with cartoons.
They had their photos posted online. They were effectively doxxed
and they were called Nazis. They were referred to as members of the Hitler Youth.
And I must say, these people, they have no shame. The British left have absolutely no shame.
When they're willing, you know, there's one thing going after Donald Trump. And you know what? It
was absolutely horrific what happened to him. I watched the shooting live and I was deeply
affected by what happened because if June 16th, changed my life forever if it hadn't been for that moment when Trump descended the escalator
god knows where I'd be right now because he got me interested in politics that greatly affected me
and I was very heartened to hear that he was okay but the demonization of figures on the left if
that would happen to Joe Biden I wouldn't support it that's absolutely despicable even though I
despise Joe Biden biden's policies i
think he is an incompetent president i think they the cabinet need to invoke the 25th amendment as
soon as possible i mean heck he doesn't even remember who his wife is he was caught trying
to kiss another woman absolutely absolutely but you're not telling him to f off into oblivion
which seems to suggest political violence so i I think Marina Perkis should be absolutely ashamed on herself.
And if the MSM continue to book her on their shows,
then you'll know that they have a total double standard.
Although we know that already.
Brilliant superstar panel.
Nicholas Lesac, Alex Armstrong.
Have a wonderful weekend and we will speak very soon.
Now stand by because
Sharon Davies is with me in just one minute ahead of Paris 2024. But first, what's so important to
me about being independent is that I'm only going to tell you about products that I use and believe
in. So, verso, you've got to hear about this. As I entered my 40s and started to realize that I needed to
stop the aging process as much as possible, I decided to prioritize my health and focus on
staying sharp and fit. So I'm exercising virtually every day, taking my nutrition seriously with the
16-8 fast. But scientists like David Sinclair have proven we can now reverse aging with
interventions that actually go beyond healthy habits. So I wanted a product that would enhance
everything I was already doing, but also one backed up by solid evidence. So I chose to use
Cell Bean by Verso, which has scientifically proven ingredients that fight the effects of
aging by increasing NAD plus levels, which is the stuff that powers every cell in your body.
I've been taking the product for a number of months now, right at the start of my day,
and it has been genuinely transformative. I've found fasting so much easier and I'm eating less
too. And the team at Verso tell me that's actually due to the product's blood sugar
regulated effects, which lead to fewer cravings. I'm sleeping better, waking up with more energy and feeling happier too. So I'd
love you to experience this product, which has taken years off me. So Verso publishes third-party
testing from each batch produced to guarantee you are getting what you're paid for. And I'm
very excited to say that to Mark. Verso being the first ever sponsor of Outspoken, they have a very
special offer for you. If you head right now to buy.ver.so forward slash Outspoken. They have a very special offer for you. If you head
right now to buy.ver.so forward slash Outspoken, you will save 15% on your first order. All you
need to do is use the coupon code Outspoken. I'll put the link in our YouTube and Rumble
description, but to repeat, buy.ver.so forward slash Outspoken using the coupon code Outspoken. But now back to the show. And I'm
delighted to say our Olympic swimming star and women's rights champion, Sharon Davies,
is here for the uncancelled interview. Sharon, so good to speak to you. It's been too long.
And what an exciting time, not just for sport but specifically
women's sport and swimming because you're off to Paris aren't you in just a few days yeah it's
weird it's been weird isn't it because to be honest because you've had all these elections
you know both here and in the states and with everything that's going on then of course we've
had the football it's not been that normal build-up that we get towards an Olympic Games I games i mean who'd have thought we've got the olympics in a week's time you know normally we
would have been talking about it quite a lot but yes we will be starting with something on day one
and i will be there in my microphone and it's still the most amazing privilege to be able to
you know talk to the athletes when they get out of the water and and try not to ask them that
obvious question which was how did the race go Because we all saw how the race went.
It's just try to bring out some of their personalities so that people at home, you know, will know who these people are that are representing us.
Oh, and you do it so well. You do it so well. But I have to say, you mentioned the election.
I was really annoyed with Macron because I feel like he plunged France into chaos just before an Olympic Games.
And also, Sharon, I mean, not that the Olympics, I think, should ever be caught up in politics.
But if you look back to London 2012, which obviously was the only Olympic Games that I've ever got to experience.
I know you've obviously covered them all around the world and competed at them as well.
But my goodness, that totally transformed the vibe in London
and actually brought the whole city together,
not to mention the country.
And I think Macron was really silly, actually,
because why do you want to put your population
through political turmoil just before such a positive event?
It was bizarre.
Yeah, it was a strange decision, wasn't it?
And it was very, very risky, to be honest with you.
I'm sure the IOC were like this.
What is he doing?
Right before an Olympic Games.
And it is a little bit scary.
I mean, I have to say the one concern that I have is probably security.
You know, I think the venues will be very safe.
I think the athletes will be safe.
The village will be very safe.
Maybe out on the streets won't be quite so safe.
We know the French, you know, they are a republic.
They love, you know, a demonstration.
And I'm sure that there will be
a few of those.
And hopefully, you know,
the French will be on top of it.
I know they're moving
an awful lot of police in
and their security is very important.
But we've just seen a couple
of policemen this week,
I think, have been stabbed, haven't they?
So there will be some issues.
And it's important that we're all
very vigilant when we're out there. Yeah, please be careful because France is not in a good place I
mean we were speaking earlier in the show about the shocking race riots in Leeds here last night
but actually it feels like France is already ahead of us in terms of that constant violence
constant threat lots of uh rapes and attacks on women so so do be safe over
there because i think it's worrying times for france but what is your take on our chances do
do we have a strong hopes in the port of course we do so in um in tokyo a very very different
olympics you mentioned about you know london the best Olympics ever I've done I've done 12 so far so this is my god I know incredible hey I my
first ones I was 13 it was a long time ago but um they're all different they're all really unique
with Act Out London was the best in 2012 we did an incredible job we had eight medals from Tokyo
um and four of those were gold and you know we as i said we
start on day one we've got adam pete that's going for his third consecutive 100 meter breaststroke
win we've never had a british swimmer that's done that so that's pretty impressive after taking some
time out to do a bit strictly and to you know find himself again he's back in the water he's
going to have a chinese man chasing him down over the last 10 meters like you will not believe so
it's whether
he can actually hold it together and not spin his arms too much um we've got men's 4x2 who just
missed the world record earlier this year men's 4x200 meters um we've got world champion Matt
Richards we've got Duncan Scott going who's got a big old handful Olympic medals but never an
individual gold which he very much wants Ben Proud one of the fastest men in
water on the 50 meters freestyle be up against Caleb Dressel from America who's back in the water
again um yeah I mean you know I I think there's no reason why we can't do as well as we did
three years ago um in Tokyo and that was a strange Olympics you know doing my interviews
20 meters apart with masks on and and hardly being allowed out of my room for three
weeks this will be a much nicer olympics i think covid delayed i know when will things ever just
be normal and i do sometimes wonder sharon if we are past the days of just being able to have a
normal united event because let's be honest the world is pretty divided on a lot of fronts at the moment and of
course you wrote your brilliant book unfair play the battle for women's sport and how do you feel
because obviously that was gosh what was that i'm thinking you came on you came into my studio at gb
news was that two years ago now that you published yeah? Yeah, no, it's only a year ago.
Yeah, just had it come out in paperback, actually, literally last week.
Oh, brilliant.
And it's such an amazing, amazing book.
But I just wonder if you feel like a year on, are you winning the battle?
Because we're still seeing a lot of madness with biological men competing against women.
We are getting there. You know, we are clawing back the sports one sport at a time. So we won't
see any males in the swimming pool. World Aquatics have protected the female category. World Track
and Field have protected the female category. World Cycling has. World Boxing has. World Rugby
has. But there are many sports that haven't, including things
like football, volleyball, triathlon, you know, contact sports, martial arts. I mean, we've got
five martial arts here in the UK that do not protect the female category. So self-identifying
males can go in and actually do contact sport against females, which is a serious accident
waiting to happen. And that that really worries me.
And then it's things like parents, you know, ringing me up and saying that
that their primary school has run coed sports days.
So they're all inclusive and not a single little girl has won an event.
And those are the sorts of things that also really bother me, you know,
because what are we telling young people?
We're telling them the little girls don't matter.
Well, it is utter madness. It is utter madness. So what do you think is driving those sports
bodies that haven't made what, let's be honest, is the only sane decision to protect women's sports going forward is it wokery is it fair of being
accused of transphobia like what on earth is behind allowing this to continue yeah it's all
of that and sadly it's also just not valuing female athletes you know which throughout the
whole of history has been the case and the biggest reason as you know because we've spoken about it a few times
but the reason i speak out is because during the you know the the 70s the 80s up to the war came
down in 89 the gdr were doping their female athletes and they were totally dominant you
know they were winning numerous podiums one two, two, three. They weren't producing the same results with their male athletes.
They totally dominated women's sport and track and field swimming
and rowing in particular, those three sports.
And there were a whole generation of female athletes
who didn't get their opportunities and their just desserts.
And I just didn't want to see that happen again.
This was synthetic testosterone, which was given to young girls
to put them through male puberty.
This is now actual males that have gone through male puberty that will still end up with a huge advantage, you know, when it comes to female sport.
And at Olympic level, the difference is between 10 and 30 percent.
So the more explosive an event, the bigger the gap.
And we know from every single piece of science that we can't remove that.
You know, there's a Q angle, which is the hip to knee angle.
And that no matter what you do with, you know, plastic surgery or clothes or or suppressing testosterone, that's never going to change that.
And that cadence with the lower part of your body means that you will always have more strength and more power.
You know, you've got a picture there of Leah Thomas, six foot four, you know, spent 22 years racing as a male, and then was told to suppress their testosterone level
to 10 times the level that I have in my system. And then that was supposed to level the playing
field. I mean, that is ridiculous. And they went from being, I think it was 465th, you know,
in men's college sport in America to beating three Olympic bronze medalists
from silver medalists from America in a year, a year later. I mean, just ridiculous. And
also in an event they weren't even particularly good at. So they were naturally a distance
freestyle swimmer. And then they were a sprinter when it came to identifying as a woman. So
thank goodness World Aquatics have stopped that. And I won't have, you know, we won't
have any
males in the pool taking medals away from from our women athletes which is really good but I think
it's really important to understand that this isn't just about elite athletes this has to be
about every female you know whether it's grassroots whether it's young people at primary schools
whether it's Saturday morning park run young girls and women are as entitled to their records and
their opportunities and their wins as
as younger men are and we're not small men we are a totally different sex and we have menstruation
to deal we have we have all sorts of different things to deal with it just comes with our biology
you know and i want everyone to do sport you know i do dan i love sport i want everyone to just be
physical be active and i'm so pleased to hear that you're looking after yourself and yes I'm trying I thought you'd be happy about that it's another
big soapbox for me is getting kids to be active you know being healthier and getting off their
blooming devices but it has to be fair you know whilst we now still have fair sport for men we
no longer have fair sport for women and that's not right well no, no, it's not. And remember as well, Sharon, there are the social factors at play with bad actors like Leah Thomas.
Because I'll never forget the interview I conducted with Riley Gaines, who was one of the people beaten by Leah Thomas.
And she is pretty much in America doing God's work like you are in the UK.
You have become the two swimmers ironically they're
the best aren't they always swimmers uh blonde swimmers who are basically fighting for female
sport and the thing is with riley it wasn't just the competition side of things, although of course that was terrible, but it was the fact that she was in a changing room
with Leah Thomas,
who was exposing his penis in front of her.
And I'm sorry that that might sound a bit grim,
but this is the reality of actually what we're dealing with.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, we're not,
a lot of people think that, you know,
trans identifying males are males
that have gone through years of surgery.
This is not the case.
You know, these are often people who just identify,
like for example, world cricket protects the female category.
The ECB here in the UK does not.
And all you have to do to be able to throw a ball
at a young teenage girl in this country is to rock up today and go, I feel like a woman. That's all you have to do to be able to throw a ball at a young teenage girl in this
country is to rock up today and go, I feel like a woman. That's all you have to do. I mean,
this is crazy, right? And that means also going in the changing rooms. You know, so you mentioned
Riley, I mean, you know, they, for months, they were forced to change with a six foot four,
fully fledged male, fully intact, who made it absolutely known to everyone that they fancied
women and they were told that if they didn't go along with it they would be referred to a
psychologist to change their attitude so they had their their permission was removed from them their
consent was removed you know and then and they were threatened with being thrown out of school
or being blacklisted or not being able to get a job or being removed from the swim squad you know so i mean whenever
we poll if we poll uh you know um anonymously the rowing club or the swimming club or the
cricket club it always comes back in the the 90 plus that people want fair sport. I did a little poll on X, you know, and I know it's only X,
but it was 24 hours, 60,000 people responded,
and 97% said they wanted fair sport for women.
They didn't want biological males in female sport.
So the vast majority of people are on the side of fair sport,
and yet we have these cowardly organisations, for whatever reasons,
who just don't seem to care about their female athletes,
and they don't care about their safety either you know in contact sports um cue angle the one i mentioned
earlier hip to knee um six times as many knee injuries for women than we do for men
because of this cue angle you know so these are all biological facts that comes with
our anatomy and we can't change that and i have to say one of the moments that I was most relieved in recent months,
because you know, I've spoken to you about it before,
the female sport that I am incredibly passionate about is netball.
And the England Netball Association did a full survey of its members about this issue
and did come back and decided to ban biological males.
But I was nervous. I'm not going to lie, because in a lot of these sports, you see wokery creeping
in and there's a lot of flying the trans flag and that sort of thing. And I just think people
have to be careful about the consequences of what that actually means
yeah and i think also it's the terminology like no one has ever been banned from sport
so you know trans women trans identifying males are not banned they're just not allowed in a
category they don't qualify for so that's exactly the same as saying a 15 year old can't go in the
under 12 or weight categories yeah able-bodied athlete is not allowed to go in the under 12. Or an able bodied athlete. Or weight categories. Yeah.
Able bodied athlete is not allowed to go into the Paralympics or, you know,
a heavyweight isn't going to say, well, actually I feel like a lightweight today
and I'm going to go in here and knock 70 pounds out of you.
You know, that is the point.
They're not banned from sport.
They're just not allowed in the category they don't qualify for.
But we use this emotive language and I was listening to you earlier
on about mainstream media and, you know, very depressing particularly television media I have to say the written
media in the UK are have been very supportive but the mainstream television media it's a nightmare
just to even be able to talk to them about stats and statistics and facts and science
you know they just want to talk emotions all the time and we don't do sports with our emotions we do sport with our bodies how do you cope sharon when you get attacked and are called a transphobe which
is something that you have had to put up with now for years yeah i mean it's a bit like water
for ducks back now it's been going on for such a long time i don't take any notice of it um i feel
really passionate about women having you know
opportunities in sport it's we have a thousand women in the UK that earn their living from sport
11,000 men that 11,000 men get paid an awful lot more than that 1,000 women at the moment we have
72 trans identifying males in women's football league we have not a single trans man in the
men's football league so it's women that single trans man in the men's football league.
So it's women that are losing out.
And that's my passion.
It's not an anti-trans position.
My position is a pro women position.
It always has been, you know, and it always will be.
And I will fight for anyone's right to do sport.
World Aquatics put on an event last October
at our first World Cup, which was in Berlin,
especially for trans athletes, and not a single one turned up.
Gosh.
Because this isn't about inclusion.
No, it's not.
This is about taking advantage.
Well, it's not.
And that's why, and look, I know you never like to attack the person, right?
And I do get that.
But can I just give you two examples, Leah Thomas and Dylan Mulvaney,
and give you my personal view that they are actually bad faith actors I think
they wanted the publicity they wanted to become internationally famous and this was the way to do
so and unfortunately the mainstream media and brands like famously Nike and Bud Light
sort of empowered them and allowed them to get what they wanted.
Yeah, I mean, I try, you're right, I try very hard not to get too embroiled with,
you know, personal attacks. I try to be very scientific, to be very matter of fact,
to be as polite as I possibly can, but at the same time speak the truth.
I think that's really important. And I try not to respond on Twitter when people are vile and rude.
You know, it's not just attacks on me. It's threats to my family.
It's ringing up every charity that I've ever worked for, every company that I've ever worked for.
You know, they deliberately go out of their way to try and make your life as difficult.
And get you cancelled.
Yeah, I do not do that to them. They do that to me.
And when people go, this is a two way street, I go, it is not a two way street.
I have never attacked anybody who is trans I'm just asking for fair sport for women you know and I will keep on that message so so I'm not gonna have a go at you know those two individuals
particularly um because I just think well I'll just try to put that to one side but I do think
it's a bit ironic that we you would try to sell a sports bra
that's modelled by a male who has no boobs.
Because the whole point of a sports bra is to hold those boobs in place
when you do your exercise.
And it's really, really important.
So, you know, it does seem a bit silly.
And it never goes the other way.
You know, we would never be having a woman trying to sell jockstraps, would we?
You know, it just wouldn't happen.
It always only goes one way.
Then the other big issue we've got, Sharon, is that there's a new government in the UK.
And I know they're now talking the talk to a degree when it comes to protecting female sports. However, this was a prime minister who was not prepared to say
whether a woman could have a penis.
We've got a foreign secretary
who believes that men can grow cervixes.
Seriously?
Like, I'm nervous about this labor government clearly i think they saw that
it was very unpopular for them to back the extreme trans lobby but it feels like that's
where their heart's at so what's your take so far we've've obviously got Lisa Nandy as the new culture secretary.
So she's going to be very important in terms of the fight for female sports in the future.
Yeah, I mean, it's early doors, isn't it?
You know, and we have to, I think, hold Keir Starmer's feet to the fire.
He has said that he thinks that women should have fair sport, that we should protect the female category. I think now he has to stand up to that and he has to keep his word.
We have seen Wes Streeting, I think, do a very brave thing, which is to protect young people.
You know, young people cannot make the sort of decisions that adults make. They just don't
understand the consequences of taking a puberty blocker and a cross-sex hormone, which will change them physically for life, particularly young women, because there's no
going back once you start to take testosterone. And I know that from personal experience,
having watched those poor young East German girls being pumped full of it. Okay. And these are
things that will potentially shorten their life, but it will, and it will make them sterile. It
will take choices away from them, which when you you're 14 you don't understand what that really means so i think that the west has done the right thing
i think that the cast report was incredibly important um and i think you know you you
obviously mentioned trump earlier on and i think if we see trump coming in in november that will
change things quite drastically in america as well so maybe we're beginning to, you know, be allowed to talk the science, being allowed
to talk the facts, being allowed to actually talk the reality.
And that's been suppressed for a really long time.
The no debate thing has had a very powerful effect on just shutting people up.
So we've not been able to get scared.
Yeah, people are scared that they're going to be called a transphobe
and as a result, they don't want to have the conversation.
And by the way, Sharon, you are being very modest
because, of course, we should point out
that if it wasn't for the terrible doping that went on in the 1980s,
you would be an Olympic gold medalist.
So it is extremely frustrating, isn't it, when cheating goes on.
And that's why this cheating has to stop.
It is. And, you know, there are times when, you know, it really sort of irks.
But I have friends that were fourth behind three East Germans.
That would be so bad.
Their whole lives, Dan, would have been different.
You know, they would have had a totally different life.
And those are the people that I'm kind of fighting for because nobody fought for
us nobody stood up the ioc ignored it for 20 years and even when the wall came down and all the
documents were available and there was court cases going on in the unified germany they still didn't
acknowledge what they did so you know the fact that they're doing all over again to women's sport
really really annoys me and i have not a lot of time for the IOC um Shan I just want to show you
a headline from the mail which I saw earlier because it really angered me but I want to know
what you think so this is about Sam Smith and it says it was the worst Sam Smith reveals they were
unable to walk after horror skiing accident that left them with permanent
damage and anxiety now i'm big on the english language right sharon it doesn't work it doesn't
work what what is this they them thing are you in the camp of we should just use whatever pronouns someone wants? Or are you more like Megyn Kelly, who says, actually, no, I'm going to call Leah Thomas a he.
I'm going to call Dylan Mulvaney a he, because otherwise we're denying science.
Do you know, I try to be, I try to box clever on this.
I try not to call them he or she, and I try to just refer to them as Dylan Mulvaney or Leah Thomas.
You know, I definitely now talk a lot about trans identifying males and trans identifying females,
because I think the general public have got really confused. And they don't quite understand what
you're talking about. So when I'm referring to sport and physiology, I try to say trans
identifying male, so we know that they know that I'm talking about a male, you know, or I use the word biological male, you know, again, so we know.
I mean, I'm just frustrated that we've not got around to clarifying the Equality Act, because when that was written in 2010, without a shadow of a doubt, sex meant biological sex.
And now that has been deliberately muddied. So we don't know what the hell we're talking about you know and that's a really important thing to do there's one thing that i would like to see kirsten do it's to do
what the conservatives were going to do which was to clarify the equality act and then we can
actually have we could protect sex discrimination laws at the moment we can't do that and and women
are losing out all over the place because of that yeah totally i mean, in the past, I took a similar stance to you and I just thought I'll avoid it altogether.
But I have actually become more hardline on that over the past couple of years, because unfortunately, Sharon, I believe there are a lot of people who are doing this simply to bring attention to themselves to deny science and i can't do it anymore
so one of the reasons i really am so proud of being independent now is that i don't have to
go along with the daily mail saying to me you can can't call Sam Smith a he, because I know Sam Smith is a
he, you know? The one I find the most offensive is when we have males that are raping, in the
males that are committing crimes against women. I find this offensive that they will have a middle
aged man who has a sexual fetish about dressing up as a woman committing rape which can only be
committed by a biological male against a female and then that crime is being written down as a
female crime yes to me that is obscene and a woman cannot commit a rape it's physically impossible
that's you know we're giving more sympathy and credence to the perpetrators of
the crimes than we are to the victims who've now got to refer to this person that's raped them as
a she in court and to me that is outrageously wrong um we saw that with isla bryson didn't
we in scotland absolutely absolutely graham graham not yeah exactly you you mentioned non-binary i
don't believe in non-binary.
I'm like you.
I think it's, you know, it's a bit of a narcissistic,
look at me, look at me.
And that is the world that we're in, you know,
with social media now.
We've got to that point really.
And we've got to the point now with young girls,
if they don't fit into a particular framework, you know,
if they don't all look like mini Kim Kardashians,
then they can't possibly be girls.
I spent my youth climbing trees training with the
boys thinking of chlorine with short hair and broken teeth you know I would have been exactly
that person they would have gone well you don't look like Kim Kardashian go start taking some
cross-sex and and and by the way me on the other side Sharon as a young gay boy who wanted to hang
out with the girls and play with barbies i am utterly convinced
that my poor parents would have been told by some woke teacher oh you should consider whether he
wants to be a girl absolutely not absolutely not hormones run wild and nothing should even be
considered we've gone backwards you know we spent the 80s I'm older than you Dan right so we spent the 80s moving away from stereotypes telling women they could
be anything you know do anything and now we're putting everybody back into boxes again and that
is the stupid thing about this I believe anyone should be able to be whatever they want to be
be as feminine as masculine as they want to be but you cannot change your biological sex you know
whatever sex you are born you know whatever sex you are
born not observed whatever sex you are born you will remain for the rest of your life and and
medicalizing people to fit into stereotypical boxes that society is creating not nature
is is a mistake that in many years to come we will look back on and be horrified about
well look i thank god that maybe this is the wrong term, but that you had the balls to
stand up for what you believed in because believe me when you started doing it Sharon no one else
was and you took so much flak. I saw it, I saw the attacks in the mainstream media and actually
the other woman who did the same
thing was jk rowling and history will prove that you were both right and i know she's not so focused
on the area of sport but it's a very similar battle that she fights she could keep her head
down and say and do nothing and just spend all her millions and she chooses to stand up for young
people as do you uh but have a wonderful
time in paris when do you head off i'm off next week and we start i think we have the opening
ceremony it's might be friday and we start on the 27th so swimming is obviously that first week
and um and cheer our guys along because they've worked incredibly hard and they will do us proud
well i will be watching sharon dav. So good to speak to you.
