Starting point is 00:01:22 There's nothing sadder than a group of adults sitting around the table rolling dice to kill imaginary wizards. But that's exactly what we're going to be doing today. Welcome to episode 28 of D&D is for Nerds. Sitting around the table, we have the fiery Jackson Bailey playing Cassius Christie. Yeah! We have Ali Kathleen playing Princess Ainsley Foggyfeather. I'm so sick of Jackson shit. We have Joel Zammett playing Leo Shadow.
Starting point is 00:01:52 I'm not sick of his shit just yet. It's alright. And we have the heavily edited DM, Adam Crystal Ball. That's not your name. I'm a mystic. Previously on D&D is for nerds you know there's nets that comically like hoist you up into the air that's what you're in one of the kobolds like darts forward and in very broken common it says this talk or land you run now you have not warmed to me yet lady i've warmed to you you haven't warmed to me i'm a being of love how much strength would
Starting point is 00:02:27 be required to tear one in half one of the kobolds charges forward and then another kobold gets in his way no no he's stabbed straight through this other kobold killing it let's stop calling it the dragon hole please no no the dragon hole's. It is a hole where a dragon was. You see this massive set of iron doors set in the centre of them, a smaller door that you imagine kobolds might use to go in and out. What did you find beyond the door? There are two... This one's going to be a little difficult to explain.
Starting point is 00:03:01 But there are two tunnels, not side by side, but one on top of another okay so it's a large area a smaller tunnel that you imagine the kobolds use it's big enough though for someone like cassius or ainsley and that one runs just like on the same level that you guys are then there's another really massive one but you imagine like it's above it but high enough that you imagine you would need to be able to fly to reach it. Or you'd need to have climbing equipment, maybe.
Starting point is 00:03:30 Or have an owl. I explain this to them, so I'm like, but we can probably crawl through and crawl through whatever the kobolds would do. Take the little kobold hole. Alright, I'll crawl in afterwards. Okay. Ainsley? Yeah. Grayson has some trouble with his
Starting point is 00:03:45 hammer. He does that thing where the shoulder pauldrons hit the sides and he's like, oh, okay. Can we pull him out? He just rearranges himself and goes through. I'd like to make a slight comment to him and just be like, oh, it looks like you're a bit too muscly for the cobalt hole.
Starting point is 00:04:02 You know, just build up his confidence. He muscly for the cobalt hole. You know, just build up his confidence. He snickers, which is the most you've ever seen him laugh. Yes, guys. Power couple. Should I keep just gingerly, just keep it a one eye out for them traps? Yep, you can if you want.
Starting point is 00:04:21 Grayson, at this point, once you get through the door, once you start checking for traps, Grayson really pushes to just get going. He's not worrying too much about traps. Something up, Grayson? I'm very keen to get to the dragon's treasure, he says. Oh, no. You going to curse us?
Starting point is 00:04:39 You going to be out to have four Grayson? Remember how the guy was like, don't take too much treasure, otherwise we're all going to get cursed? I'm not going to take too much. for Grayson. Remember how the guy was like, don't take too much treasure, otherwise we're all going to get cursed? I'm not going to take too much. Don't worry. I just... What's the hurry?
Starting point is 00:04:48 Yeah, Grayson, calm down. I want to give Ainsley a look like, is he on the level? What's this? Cassius, I don't know you well enough to make relationships. Good advice, okay? Calm down. Down. Throw my hands in the air and walk down the cobbled hole.
Starting point is 00:05:03 Good. I was hoping someone would just do that I follow suit oh you are so lucky you son of a bitch Jackson you take a step onto another one of this like like I said poorly worked
Starting point is 00:05:18 stone area and your foot presses down into the stone and you've realised you've stepped on a trap and you're like you jump stepped on a trap, and you're like... You jump backwards just as a series of spikes, Indiana Jones style, come out of the wall and jab where you were a moment before. Maybe Leo should go first.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Can we avoid that step? Yeah, quite easily. Can I disable it? You can try to disable it. I'll try and disable it. Don't get pierced. How sad. You disable the trap.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Sound good. You force the trigger so that it will stay always up instead of going down. Continue on? Yeah. Constantly looking for traps. Yep. And better than he was before. Now I'm alert.
Starting point is 00:06:04 You're awake now. You detect another trap, a similarly triggered one where it's got like a pressure plate and then this time instead arrows shoot out. You can try to move around it or you can try to disable it. I'll keep trying to disable it. You're doing good with disabling.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Yeah, you disable this one as well. Excellent. Sick! I'm actually being a rogue this time. Yeah, mad respect, yo. Unfortunately, this time you tripped the trap. Oh, no. You're like... Does he get shot?
Starting point is 00:06:33 Mm-hmm. Does he get shot? No, no, no, hang on. So you're moving your way forward, and the way you've been doing it, I'll say, is that you're, like, testing the step first before you put your weight onto it. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:06:44 You test this particular step, and then you're like, the step first before you put your weight onto it. You test this particular step and then you're like, Oh no, this one's okay. It wasn't though. You just didn't push hard enough. But when you put your weight onto it properly, then you've pushed hard enough. Uh,
Starting point is 00:06:56 a massive pit opens up beneath you. Yeah. Did you fall? I'm about to find out. Uh, spaghetti. Uh, you don't fall in.
Starting point is 00:07:05 Oh, good. Are we going to have to jump this pit now? Yeah, now that it's been set off properly, you'll have to jump it. It's 10 foot across. That seems like a lot. And it takes up the entire thing. That seems like a lot. Fucking massive.
Starting point is 00:07:15 10 foot wide. How strong is Mr. Fizz? How much across? It takes the entire space. It spans the actual corridor, and then it goes ten feet away from you, so you have to jump ten feet. That seems like a lot. That seems like a lot to jump.
Starting point is 00:07:30 If one of you can get across, they can take a rope with them. Who's the best jumper? Oh, I should also mention, even with your light and with Cassius' dark vision, none of you can see to the bottom. I intend to hurl Leo. With a rope? With a bull strength. I'll tie a rope around his waist.
Starting point is 00:07:51 You cast bull strength for the second time? Yes. Just make sure you've... Yeah, I'll notch it down. That's twice. Does it just make you extra strong for a little bit? How heavy are you again, Leo? Gives me a plus four.
Starting point is 00:08:01 Actually, did everyone work out their weights? Yeah. 30 libs. I haven't got Cassius' weight. I thought I told you last game. I think it was like one. Oh, no, no. I do have your weight.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Sorry. Yeah, I do. Sorry. All right. I'm going to just jump them down here. Okay. Ow! Oh, Ali.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Sorry, guys. I hit my head on the microphone. Fastball special. Adam plus. Sorry, guys. I hit my head on the microphone. Fastball special. Adam Pliss. I'm so sorry. Can I get a high or a low? Oh, no. Actually, Ainsley.
Starting point is 00:08:38 Don't put this in my body, Ro. I can't die. You've tied a rope. But I'm like, maybe he's going to sever it. Or you just land on my rope. Oh, okay. I didn't hear, you've tied a rope, but I'm like, maybe he's going to sever it. Or you just land on the spot. Wait, did you tie a rope? Yeah. Oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:08:48 I didn't hear that. Hi. He tied a rope around my waist, held the... Hi. Hi. I thought you were saying hi as in, hi, Adam. A little bit. Okay.
Starting point is 00:08:57 So Cassius throws you. You land on the other side perfectly. Everything's fine. Yay! All right. It would have been so awkward if you just hit spikes. you, you land on the other side perfectly. Everything's fine. Alright. It would have been so awkward if you just hit spikes. Everyone's like, is he okay? I'm like, oh. Or you, hell,
Starting point is 00:09:13 fumble and I just drop straight down and smack the side. Oh no. Grayson stands next to you, Cassius, and then he says, great, now that he's across with the rope, we just have to worry about him having to hoist all three of us across. We can do one at a time. Don't sass me, Grayson.
Starting point is 00:09:30 Don't speak to him like that. Do I have anything to nail? I don't know. You've got your cactus, Shane. I've got a grappling hook. That doesn't help us. Oh, you could try to hook it to the wall. Like I said, it's fully work.
Starting point is 00:09:41 You could try. Grapple hook, tie the rope to the grappling hook. Try to fix it. Clunk that down into the thing. I'm so happy. I'm going to fall. Yeah, you try to hammer it in as hard as possible. It looks all right.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I have a crowbar as well. A crowbar does not help you. I can use it as a hammer to smack it in. Well, I was assuming you were using something to hammer it in. Not just your little man's strength. Little tiny little fists. All right, I'm going to turn it. Which is the crowbar. Not just your little man's crowbar. Little tiny little fists. All right, I'm going to turn to Grayson and Ainsley. I'm the heaviest.
Starting point is 00:10:10 I can own that. Okay. I'm proud of it. I'm proud. Big is beautiful. I'm going to climb across first because if it can take my weight, it can take anybody's. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:21 Eh? Yeah, sure. All right, I'm going to try and climb across. Wouldn't it have been smarter to... Okay. Oh, no. What were we going to say? I was going to say, why doesn't Ainsley come across first because she's the lightest and she can help
Starting point is 00:10:33 support this and then Grayson can come over and then we've got all three of us holding the rope. Then you, Cassius, can come over. See, now that would make sense. As you guys have been talking, you all hear when it echoes through the tunnel this like
Starting point is 00:10:46 heavy sound of metal hitting the floor you look behind you and Grayson has taken off his armor and looks ready to make it run across oh my god
Starting point is 00:10:54 sweetheart what? guess Grayson's doing it he falls into the pit oh no what? Grayson no what?
Starting point is 00:11:03 what have you done Adam? you, no! What have you done, Adam? You piece of shit. What have you done? Stop laughing, you piece of shit! What have you done? He got literally the only number he needed to fail. What? What have you done?
Starting point is 00:11:20 What have you done? Adam? You hear this very heavy, like, thump on the ground. Oh, my God. Grayson made no sound going down, but when you hear that thump, you hear him go, ah. Oh, he sounds okay. Are you okay, Grayson?
Starting point is 00:11:36 Drop a torch down. Hang on, I need to work out fall damage. Throw Alka-Lis fire. Can you see? Ah! No, stop it. Not laughing time. Distraught time. That's a lot of dice? No, stop it. Not laughing time. Distraught time.
Starting point is 00:11:47 That's a lot of dice. Oh, my God. What's going on? Adam, tell us what's happening. Ten. What's that mean? That's ten damage. Ten what?
Starting point is 00:11:56 Twenty. What? What? Twenty-five. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Guys, guys, I'm not okay.
Starting point is 00:12:02 I'm not ready to be alone. I got comfortable. You're not ready to be a widow? No, we're not even married. What's going on? You are going to have a spring wedding. We were going to have the cutest, strongest babies. From down in the pit, you hear,
Starting point is 00:12:19 I'm okay. Oh, thank God. Oh, thank God. Look how... Hey, Grayson. What were you thinking, buddy? I thought we had planned a system. That's too funny.
Starting point is 00:12:33 I thought I could make it. You thought wrong, didn't you? I hear a wet squelching sound from down in the pit. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Can we just throw our health potions down? I landed on a spike, he says. Oh the pit. Oh my god. Can we just throw health potions down? I landed on a spike, he says. Oh boy.
Starting point is 00:12:49 Who has health potions? I have more sympathy for you, but this one's all on you. He was there for you. You should be here for him. Drop the rope, he says. I'm about to. Drop the damn rope. Now.
Starting point is 00:13:03 It's on your side. Cassius, you've got the other end. No, you are holding it. You drop it. You have it in the damn grappling hook thing. Why don't you hold it? You was around my waist and then you held it and you threw me. Yeah, so if you take it off yourself he can climb up on my... Better
Starting point is 00:13:19 I take his weight than you. Better that the grappling hook takes the weight than you. I'll wash my hands. Then he's on my side. Down on your side. Yes. Okay.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Because then we can both move up. Wrong side, he calls up. Oh, my God. This is all your fault, Leo. What did I say, Leo? You halfling bastard. Is the rope not on the other side, he says? It's on Leo's side.
Starting point is 00:13:48 Can we both help? Do you have a rope? Can you feel the rope? Can you see the rope? The rope is on your side, Leo. Can you see it? We've got another rope. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:55 Can you get to it or are you just stuck? Yeah, I can get to it. Then get to it. Okay. Do not be rude to him. The rope goes taut when he grabs it. Oh, good. Where have you got the rope?
Starting point is 00:14:03 Like, is it attached to the grappling hook? Yes. Is it still tied around your waist? It's tied to the grappling hook. Okay. All right. I'm only little, so we're going to have to work into teamwork here. Why don't you jump across? Ready?
Starting point is 00:14:21 Yep. Three, two, one. Cool. I start hoisting it up and trying to give it as much go as I can. It gives immediately. Oh, for goodness sake, guys. Let's go with the other plan. You hear Grayson yell again from in the pit.
Starting point is 00:14:38 Okay, all right. Grappling hook found your head, huh? Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop. Everyone stop. Cassius, what was your original plan that you were going to jump across? Grappling hook? What? What's going on? Grappling hook found his head.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Oh my goodness! That first pain was from the spike. Then you're like, grappling hook found your head? I'm like, oh yeah, actually grappling hook. Leo, you bloody moron. I have spider climb, right? I think I have spider climb right? I think I have spider climb as a druid Are you fucking serious? I could have been using that
Starting point is 00:15:09 Could have just carried you along Might have been good You better believe you have spider climb Oh my god I don't think it lets you bring people Hang on let me look at this Do you have a health potion? I say to Ainsley. I don't think it lets you bring people. Hang on, let me look at this. She can hold on to you. Do you have a health potion?
Starting point is 00:15:27 I say to Ainsley. I'm going to take it you don't. You have to have your hands free to climb like this? Yeah. I've got four. Good. Well, that's great. For now.
Starting point is 00:15:37 But fine. Grayson, can you catch? Do not throw a health potion down at me. The glass will go in your eye. If you can carry Ainsley on your back you're fine I can probably do that maybe we should have bloody thought of that beforehand well hey I didn't know he could climb the walls like a spider
Starting point is 00:15:52 I'm gonna hoist Ainsley onto my back climb down climb down? what? why? well because I want to get a health potion take it down to Grayson can we move him?
Starting point is 00:16:02 why don't you climb Ainsley over and then you climb down. Fine, I'll take Ainsley to Leo's side. Drop her off with a flump. I hand you a health potion. Grayson's equipment is still on your side. I'll go back and get it. But first, I get a health potion from Leo on his side.
Starting point is 00:16:21 Climb down. Oh wait, no, that's rations, not potions. I got nothing. Oh my goodness, Leo. None of usations not potions I got nothing oh my goodness Leo health potions can we make a health potion no do I have any healing spells
Starting point is 00:16:33 yeah you do ok good for fucks sake you fucks can you guys oh that was a second level spell, Spider Climb, by the way. Can you feel... Bull's strength is second level too, yeah?
Starting point is 00:16:50 Channeling Cassius right now. Fucking moron. You've got Cure Light Wounds, which is a first level spell. I'm out of second level anyway. How is this my fault? Fucking buggerlugs down there trying to jump a ten foot chasm. So I'm going to climb down. With no warning to anybody. What conditions, Ian?
Starting point is 00:17:07 You get down there. There's three spikes just, like, jutting out of the bottom there. Oh, my God. They're maybe five feet tall, so nearly as tall as a person. Oh, my God. How is he still alive? One of them is slick, completely slick with blood. Grayson's leg is fucked.
Starting point is 00:17:24 One of his legs, it looks like he went down to the bottom on this leg. It doesn't look like he's going to be walking very well anytime soon. Can I, how's hoisting him off the spike going to be? He's not on the spike. Oh, he's not impaled. He's hoisted himself off it. He's like
Starting point is 00:17:40 slumped up against the wall. There's like a grappling hook sitting next to him and a lot of rope. Just grab the grappling hook. Grab the grappling hook if you can. Wait a minute. How did it go down and you didn't? Because he had it hooked on something else.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Did you have it tied around yourself? No. Oh, right, right. I'm going to use Cure Light Wounds on old Grayson here. Bloody hell. See what I can heal up. What's these two yell down at me for? Okay, so you can heal him enough
Starting point is 00:18:07 that he can move under his own weight. That's a good start. Can I hoist him onto my back to get him up there? Yep. So I'm going to go through the laborious process of hoisting everybody up onto the other side, going over to the first side we were on, getting his equipment, bringing it back over.
Starting point is 00:18:24 Takes you a little while, but you've got time. It's like that riddle that you do, and it's like you've got one boat and you need to get all the kids across the other side. And if you leave Grayson and Ainsley on the same side, they'll bone. So you've got to avoid the boning, get them across. I get everything over to the one side.
Starting point is 00:18:43 The trick is, why do you want a wolf? Yeah, exactly. That's the trick of the whole thing The trick is, why do you want a wolf? Yeah, exactly That's the trick of the whole thing Why does that farmer need a fox? Why does he need a fox for? That's right That's not a farm animal Hey, you know what's worth a lot of money? Fox pelt
Starting point is 00:18:57 Oh, there you go But you don't need it to be alive for its pelt So you brain the fox It's a duck Is it a duck or a chicken? but you don't need it to be alive for its health. So you brain the fox. Hurl, it's a duck. Is it a duck or a chicken? I think it's a chicken. Okay, I was going to say if it's a duck, just... And then what, like a cabbage or something like that?
Starting point is 00:19:15 Yeah. Hurl the cabbage onto the river. Also, why is this cabbage so important? Also, how can you not just... Shut up a second. Eat the cabbage, then you're technically still moving it across the river And you're fuelled by cabbage
Starting point is 00:19:27 Or is that a plumbing? How heavy is a cabbage? Shut up a plumbing Plum up a second Oh that's a good one How heavy is a cabbage Just as an aside From an aside
Starting point is 00:19:41 That you can't bring it across with a chicken. Maybe the chicken is just like... No, the chicken will eat the cabbage. Or the chicken is just going like crazy. It's got like ADD. It just won't sit still. So you need two hands to hold this chicken.
Starting point is 00:19:55 That fucking chicken ADD, guys. It's a real problem. It is a problem. Anyway, I've got everyone across. Chicken ADD aside. You can hypnotize a chicken. Just draw a line in front of its beak. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:05 It just can't move. Then it's fine. On its beak? No, before its beak. These riddles are just ridiculous. Because you can hypnotize chickens. Yeah, really? You can hypnotize lizards too.
Starting point is 00:20:15 Flip them on their back, you rub their stomach. That's something you do with crocodiles, isn't it? Yeah. I think all reptiles love a belly rub. That's adorable. I must be a reptile then. Oh, Adam. We're all across.
Starting point is 00:20:30 Good. Yeah, everyone gets across. Yeah. Okay. So. You okay, Grayson? I completely forgot like what happened. I'm trying.
Starting point is 00:20:38 I healed him up a bit. Yeah, you healed him up a little bit. Will another potion heal him up anymore? We don't have any. You don't have any more? You can heal him again. Yeah, you can keep going. I'll go again. I'm using up all my spells, you heal them up a little bit. Will another potion heal them up anymore? We don't have any. You don't have any more? You can heal them again. Yeah, you can keep going. I'll go again.
Starting point is 00:20:48 I'm using up all my spells, you know. Your spells. I know. I'm not happy about it. Nor am I. That's... How many first level spells have I got? Grayson's up and moving.
Starting point is 00:20:58 He's still hurt pretty badly, but he can, you know, he can move on. How are you feeling, pal? He doesn't say anything. Do you want to just talk things through before you, I don't know, leap before you look, you know, that old saying? He starts putting on his armour. He was there for you, all right? Let it go.
Starting point is 00:21:17 What a walker. Let it go, Leo. This group has a lot of politics. Thankfully for you, there's no more traps up ahead. You get to a large iron door. Not a large. Zip it. Zip it, all right?
Starting point is 00:21:30 Game plan. An iron door. An average size iron door. Bull cock. Let it go. All right? We spent a year dealing with you, and we tried to help you, and you didn't listen.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Hey. We carried along. Don't bring that back up. We brought goo along. Just calm down, all right? And we tried to help you and you didn't listen. Hey, don't bring that back up. We brought goo along. Just calm down, all right? There's a lot of things going on. No more half cock. I give Mr. Pest a look like, what is this?
Starting point is 00:21:53 Full cock, Aidsley. We talked about this. You get to a big iron door. Regular size iron door. Should we go back to the start? Check that damn thing for traps. Double check for traps. Double check for traps. You find no traps.
Starting point is 00:22:06 When you guys arrive, I'm like, so you clearly have a history. My goodness. No, I don't want to know. I'm going to open the door. Don't open this. This is what I'm talking about. You open the door into a properly worked corridor. It stretches on for about as far as you can see,
Starting point is 00:22:27 and midway-ish along the corridor, there are two offshoots to the left. What's planned? Oh, well, you can't see how far the corridor goes, but when I say midway through, midway through how far you can see. What I can see, yeah. Mr Fists.
Starting point is 00:22:43 You good there, Ainsley? Yeah, hold on, guys, I want to eat grapes. There's grapes in the You good there, Ainsley? Yeah, I'll let guys know what to eat. There's grapes in the studio today, and Ainsley's eating them. You chose the most noisy way possible to grab them. Why not take the grapes out? Just take them out of the bag. Put them on the table. Not only did you grab the grapes, the noisy grape making in the bag,
Starting point is 00:22:58 you also bumped your microphone stand. I know, it hurt. To get there. I'm just grabbing some grapes, guys. Listeners are going to be so pissed off with this. It's going to be like they watched this podcast, they just had arguments, they aired their personal disputes.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Very little D&Ding happened. Then one of them ate grapes. Noisily. Very noisily. We'll send Mr. Fists to scout. Yeah, go. Mr. Fists to scout Mr. Fists because this
Starting point is 00:23:26 new corridor has a very low ceiling compared to the other one Mr. Fists seems a bit hesitant to do it this time I ask him what's wrong I give like a distinct I send the instinct of like what's wrong what's up mate
Starting point is 00:23:42 You get this feeling of tightness back from the owl. It's too tight for Mr. Fist. Let me see. He'll go if you want him to. I don't really want to risk my owl. All right. Hang on. So there's two...
Starting point is 00:23:58 I'd like to make a comment to Cassius about how impressed I am with how well he gets along with his owl. So the corridor is, imagine a straight line. Yeah? That is what you can see. Okay. It goes, the straight line is maybe 30, not 30, sorry, 60 feet long. In the middle of that 60 feet long line, there are two lines going left.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Okay, cool. So two separate doorways. Then, not doorways. Or like entrances. Yeah. So which one do we want to go? Go to the first one. Systematic like.
Starting point is 00:24:29 So you get to the first intersection. Now you can see the end of the corridor. So this corridor has two left-handed passageways and then it turns right at the end. You having fun? Oh, you're eating. Oh, no, good, good, good, good. I thought you were trying to give me a look. Nope, just eating grapes. We'll go Good, good, good, good. I thought you were trying to give me a look. Nope. Just eating grapes.
Starting point is 00:24:46 We'll go in the first left entrance. Okay. You scout ahead for traps, Leo. Alrighty. I do that. It leads to a big stone door. The door is slightly ajar, and you can sort of see into the room beyond. Let me do your searching for traps.
Starting point is 00:25:02 You gotta keep them out somehow. That's true. You detect no traps. You can't see keep them out somehow. That's true. You detect no traps. You can't see anything beyond the door, though. It's too dark and the door isn't very wide. Can we hear anything? You can see in the dark, yes, Cassius? Yep.
Starting point is 00:25:14 Ooh, hang on. Oh. Gracious. Cassius, you can hear running water. Sounds like there might be a fountain or a bath happening in there. Do you reckon it's healing water? That'd be nice. Is that a thing in D&D? I just felt like that would be a great thing
Starting point is 00:25:32 to have. Sort of. Sort of great thing or sort of... It is a thing, sort of. Leo, you were bitching about planning. What's the plan? Okay, so can you see through that door? Not really. Okay, what if we open it up a little bit more? Probably, yes. Then open it and just have a bit of a peek. Okay, I'll you see through that door? Not really. Okay, what if we open up a little bit more? Probably, yes.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Then open it and just have a bit of a peek. Okay, I'll have a little peek. You open the door. It's a big, empty stone room. Where's the running water coming from? I could hear running water. Now that you're closer, you can definitely hear running water. It sounds like it's coming from above the room.
Starting point is 00:26:00 Okay, so it sounds like it's coming from above the room. Is it like a heavy or is it just like a trickle? It's kind of heavy. Maybe like an underground river or something like that. We might be under a river in here. If we can bring like anybody back in here, smash the roof and drown them. Keep this one up in the head, that's all I'm saying. It's an interesting plan, but it's...
Starting point is 00:26:20 You're not standing in the room, right? No. Is anyone else going to have a look at the room? I'll have another look. You're just standing at the doorway, right? No. Is anyone else going to have a look at the room? I'll have another look. You're just standing at the doorway with him, though, right? Nobody's going in. I'd like to hurl something into the room. Just as a test.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Why? Just as a test. I don't understand. I'd like to hurl a mouse in there. How many mice in my bag of mice, BTW? 11? 10? Roll a dice.
Starting point is 00:26:44 Yeah, roll a dice. Roll a d20. Roll a dice. Yeah, roll a dice. Roll a d20. Roll a dice for mice. I love it. 16. Oh, sick. I chuck a mouse in. I don't think that Mr. Fist on Instinct chases after it.
Starting point is 00:26:55 Mr. Fist, no! It's like when you throw the dynamite and the dog chases after it. No! Mice goes into the room Does it just hit the Yeah, with a wet flop With a wet flop? Well, it's
Starting point is 00:27:11 It's a dead mouse Probably fine Alright, just have a But let's not risk it Check for traps Is there anything else in this room? It looks pretty bare You can search around for a secret door or traps if you want
Starting point is 00:27:22 Search for traps and doors and all that kind of jazz Okay, you enter the room. You find nothing. I'm going to collect my mouse and we'll go to the next door. Okay, you step in. The door seals shut on both of you. Oh, my God, Grayson and I are outside. Yeah, you and Grayson are outside.
Starting point is 00:27:37 Several bricks in the roof fall out. Oh, no. And then water starts pummeling into the room. Oh, dear. Oh, dear. Oh, dear. Thought it was okay. Iting into the room. Oh, dear. Oh, dear. Oh, dear. Thought it was okay. It wasn't okay.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Should have found this trap. The room is quite rapidly filling with water. I assume you guys are screaming. It's a stone door, yeah? Yeah. Can I just punch my way out? You can break your arms on the door if you want. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:02 I'm reading my thing. What's wild empathy? Will that help me right now? No. Okay. What about combat style archery? No. Do you have a breathe under water spell? No, but Adam, I'd like to turn around
Starting point is 00:28:16 and put my hands on the stone door and use create water, I think it's called? Yes. What are you doing? As like a torrent. Like, as powerful as I can make it no this is good I'm enjoying this you create another 8 gallons of water that's great that's good for me
Starting point is 00:28:30 hold on a second you want to fight water it'll work I'm going to blast out the stone door with my water I want to have a look around the room if there's any way we can stop this trap look is there an off switch look for that Leo
Starting point is 00:28:44 I'm going to keep looking for an off switch if I can. No, that's fine. I'll do that for you as well. Anything? Grayson has taken out his longsword because that is literally the best thing he has for this. He has nothing else, and he starts just... I also have a longsword.
Starting point is 00:28:58 ...walking at the fucking stone door. I'm going to do the same. Okay. It'll be fine. My name's Cassius, and I fight water with water. Fuckwit. You don't know what I'm going to do the same. It'll be fine. My name's Cassius and I fight water with water. Fuckwit. Cassius, you do nothing. I just fill the room more.
Starting point is 00:29:12 Oh my god. You're an idiot. Okay, so. How big is this little hole in the wall? Leo, you don't find an off switch, but you find another door. It's secret and set into the wall. Okay, I'm like Cassius has a door. I push the door open.
Starting point is 00:29:28 You push it and it slides across. Water like pours out. And the door like it looks, it's some sort of mechanism. It's a lot more elaborate than what a cobalt could make. The door self-closes and it does so after about a second of being open. Okay. I just keep pushing it open so I let the water flow through that hole.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Does all the water go? You're just going to fill the other room? Yes. Or at least disperse it so we're not drowning. Is it still like a heavy torrent of water coming out of it? Yep. You are slowly siphoning it off though. You're not sure how long this is going to last. If you guys
Starting point is 00:30:04 just escape through that doorway, you'd be fine. That would be a better option. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I'm going to wade through. Do they know what's going on? No. We'll collect them. We'll just keep trying to smash the door down.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Can they hear us through a stone door? No, you don't think so. You could try. How do we know there's water going then? We can hear it. You just heard the... You can... Oh, well, the stone slams shut between you guys.
Starting point is 00:30:25 So you don't know what's happening necessarily, but you don't want to be stuck away from it. How quickly does it close the stone door? I said a second. It stays open for about a second and then recloses. It's a slow thing to open and close.
Starting point is 00:30:43 Can we put something in the way of it You could try This mechanism looks very complex Which could mean that it's either going to crush anything you put in the way Or it would delicately break when it tries to close You're not sure Don't hold your foot there Do I need my grappling hook is my question
Starting point is 00:30:59 Maybe Just walk through the door I walk through the door I'm going to wade past him It's another long corridor. You're not sure where it goes, though. Okay. It's better than drowning.
Starting point is 00:31:09 I, like, open the door, go through, and put the grappling hook in the way. Okay. The door crushes your grappling hook. It actually crushes it so well that the water does not get through after you do that. Wow. Okay. Grappling hook, I don't have any more. That's gone. That's something you do that. Wow. Okay, grappling hook, I don't have any more. That's gone.
Starting point is 00:31:26 That's something you will never get back. Oh, dear me. How's Mr. Fists? Wet. He was on your shoulder the entire time, so not really. He's all like... I said not really. Well, I dunk him in the water.
Starting point is 00:31:43 How cute! Scratches and bites. It's like he had a morning shower. Yeah. It's his time for a morning shower. Okay. He drinks some of the water. It's cold, by the way. Very cold.
Starting point is 00:32:00 Can we open up the trap door from... From your other side? Yeah, you can still open it. Okay, I'm just going to... Can I hear the water still gushing? Yeah. It's not worth it. I'm listening. Does it slow down?
Starting point is 00:32:12 Hard to tell. It's a stone door. Oh, no, you hear. Yeah. It doesn't seem to be slowing down. No. All right, I guess that room's fucked. We've got no other option.
Starting point is 00:32:21 Let's carry on. Okay. You and Grayson, how long are you willing to spend at this? Well, is it making a difference? No. You're flecking chips off it, but these longswords are not designed for breaking down stone doors. I'm going to have a little bit of a powwow with Grayson and be like, what do we do? Grayson ums and errs a little bit.
Starting point is 00:32:45 He says, maybe there's another way. There's another entrance up ahead. Maybe we should just go far enough. We'll go around. That other corridor leading to the left might be the way. It might be like a circle room. That's how I'm going to justify it. Otherwise, there's nothing I can do.
Starting point is 00:33:01 We're just going to dull our blades on this door. Yeah, yeah. No, it's a waste. I feel like we're really, like, having an adult conversation because he got really angry when I did stupid stuff. And that is the only reason you are having an adult conversation. Yeah, I'm using this opportunity to try and prove my self-worth to him. I had a crowbar.
Starting point is 00:33:19 I could have buggered him. It would have scratched it. So, all right. So, yeah, I'm going to suggest, to suggest we'll see if we can meet him. I know Leo is probably pretty resourceful. I don't know about that Cassius girl. I'm still not really sure about her. Hang on, wait.
Starting point is 00:33:35 Grayson listens quietly at the door. I hear water, like rushing water, he says. Grayson, I'm not very good at this. So I don't really know what to do with the information you're currently giving me. Because it's not like I was in the room. So it's not like I know that they're safe. Yeah, no, that's okay. Yeah, let's get going.
Starting point is 00:33:54 He moves and he's like jogging. Going deeper into the dungeon separately. A good idea? Maybe. But an idea for next time on D&D is for Nerds.
