Starting point is 00:00:08 Hi guys, welcome back to your favorite podcast. D. Influence. We nailed it. You guys, I don't even have a plan for this interview because I'm so excited. I'm like, I don't even need to prep. So I am with the founder and CEO, Isabel from Dolce Glow. Yay. And if y'all, if y'all follow me, you know you will not catch me without a tan. Never.
Starting point is 00:00:32 I am like, so my mom's Latina. She has this, like, beautiful skin. You know, I was raised Hispanic. Really? was racist, Spanish, fluently, I can read it and write it.
Starting point is 00:00:42 Are you serious? Yeah. I want to get so much into your story because I actually don't know too much. I've been trying to save it for this interview.
Starting point is 00:00:49 I can make a grateful solo, by the way. Oh, my stomach's like already growling. Oh my gosh. But yeah, so I actually found
Starting point is 00:00:57 Dolce Glow through an article that I saw when Miley Cyrus invested in it. And like I said, like you won't catch me without its hand. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:05 So I find my products that I love, but I'm like one of those people like I'm always trying something new. And immediately got on, I was like, oh, this I was going to sell out. If Miley's like behind it and she had just did that Flowers music video and she looked so good. And so I immediately bought like every skew I could and fell in love, became obsessed.
Starting point is 00:01:25 That makes me so hot. I started following you because I was like, who's the girl behind this? Started following Dolce Glow, shared out on my stories. A lot of my audience started to love it as well. And then you started like DMing me back. And I'm like, oh my God. Oh my gosh. I was so excited. But following you more, like kind of learned that there was like this whole, you know, you have this whole story behind your brand. And so anyway, I'm talking too much. I want to know just kind of about you, how you started Dolcego, how you got into being a celebrity, like spray tan artist. That's the coolest job ever. It is. It is. It's so surreal. Obviously, thank you so much for having them. I'm so excited to be on de-influenced because every single day again, I get out. to do different podcasts and something has always just drawn me to you because you just come across.
Starting point is 00:02:13 You're so authentic and so real. And those are the people I love to surround myself with because I come from very humble beginnings. And I feel like everything that I put into my brand has been a part of just the way I was brought up. And I feel like I can relate to someone just like a mom and an entrepreneur and just working hard. And so thank you so much for having me. So sweet. But just like in a nutshell about my story. So I was in foster care.
Starting point is 00:02:39 So at the age of seven, I was taken away and I was put in foster care. And so obviously went through the first seven years of my life. And really difficult times, there was days where we didn't have anything to eat. This can be a little sensitive, but there was days where we were eating dog food to survive. And at the age of seven, I almost died of a bleeding ulcer because I was so malnourished. And I was below my like weight and significantly and just blood and blood and blood. And finally, there was a case that was opened. And so we were put into foster care.
Starting point is 00:03:16 And when I say we was my twin sister and I. And so we were put together and we went into a foster home. And things started off great there. And we were adopted at the age of 11. Unfortunately, the system did fail us there and went through a lot of difficult times. a lot of different types of abuse. And I was raised Hispanic. So a cool thing about all of that craziness was I do speak Spanish lonely. I can read it. I can write it. I can make some amazing Hispanic foods like Bosaulet and gilada suises. And so I got a lot of great things came from that,
Starting point is 00:03:57 but a lot of difficult times, right? And I feel like I don't sit down. I don't feel sorry for myself. and this isn't like a, you know, I don't pity myself, but it's a part of my journey, right? Because when you go through difficult times, I just feel like you appreciate everything so much more. And I always say if my life and my career were to take a pause exactly where it's at today, I'm so content and I'm at peace because everything else is just like icing on the cake. And so I'm so grateful for that journey, for all those, all those bad times, the good times, everything I learned. just like this inner strength that like you don't even know you have, right? Like you just, it's there and you just, you, I made it, you know, I was a survivor and I could have been a statistic. I could have ended up, you know, there's days where I don't even know
Starting point is 00:04:47 where I was going to get my next meal from. And at the age of 17, left my foster home and started running a room in a stranger's house for $300. I was 17. I wasn't even 18. So like the stranger opened up her house to a minor. She was actually a school teacher. And it was the most beautiful room I had ever seen. I remember the bed and just felt like something that was like finally like my own. And I was working three jobs. I was a janitor. I was working at Jack in a box.
Starting point is 00:05:15 I was cleaning the dirty boys' restrooms at an elementary school. And so the crazy part of all of this, like going through those whole times, was I would say about one to two years later, I had got my first spray tan. And I remember this feeling. I was in such a dark place that that next morning, I remember waking up. And it was probably the worst fray tan on my life back then because spray tans have really evolved so much in the last few years. But like I remember the way this spray tan made me feel like it immediately took me out of this dark place. Like everything looked better. It felt better.
Starting point is 00:05:53 But not just the outer appearance. Like if you got in a spray tan or a self-tan, you know, it like hides the varicose veins in the cellulite. And if you can't tone it tan and it's like you look 30% thinner. So it wasn't just the outer appearance, which was amazing. Don't get me wrong. But it was really that inner confidence that it gave me like this beauty that I'm like, it immediately took me out of this dark place. Like everything felt better.
Starting point is 00:06:17 And then I remember that moment, I was like, what if I start doing this to like make extra money because I was, I'm a hustler, right? When you come from nothing and like you're trying to figure out how you're going to make it and I was going through college and like working all these debt end jobs, I was like, well, what if I start? I was always thinking of ways of like generating more income. And I'm like, if I can make other women look and feel this good, like how great I felt in that moment, but also make money at the same time. Like, I'm going to do it.
Starting point is 00:06:42 And so a few years later, I pretty much started spray tanning. And little did I know that I would become one of the biggest celebrity spray town artists in the world and have this amazing brand that just grows every single day. And so it's this is truly, but it has. not been easy. As you know, I wasn't handed a check, right? I wasn't saying, you know, here's a million dollars to start this spray tan business. My husband and I used our last $2,000 to, you know, take the spray tan class that I initially thought was going to be this amazing class to get trained and really how to relearn and train myself. And literally used that and believed in myself when, and he believed in me obviously in having that support. And then little did I know that it would
Starting point is 00:07:29 become to this and what it's every single day. It's just so surreal. So I know it's a lot, but it's crazy. I mean, that is one of the coolest stories I think I've ever heard. Like, you are a true self-made woman. And like from the very beginning, like it gives me chills how you didn't let that kind of set you back or a lot of people kind of walk around with a chip on their shoulder. And I feel like that is so not you. Like, even whenever you walk in the room, like I could tell like this girl's confident, but she's humble, she's sweet. Like, and obviously so successful at what you're doing. So when you started spraytating, I'm like, I'm like, how did it go from? Because I know a lot of people that spray tan them, but they're not where
Starting point is 00:08:09 you're at. So what happened? You know what? I think, again, that hustle, that strength, right, taking those 2 a.m. calls, not expecting work to fall into my lap, right? Like, I reached out to every single person on Instagram, every makeup artist, every hairstylist, work. and did tons of free work for till this day I do free spray tans. Like I never have that like, oh, I tan this person. And literally, if I want to work with you and I just want you to feel what I felt in that moment, I don't, I have never followed the dollar. Never.
Starting point is 00:08:47 Like, I always tell my account it if I could write off every single free spray tan that I've done until this day, like we would be golden, you know. But I'm so grateful, you know, I think about the moments where I try. charged up every single of my husband's credit cards and my credit cards, and it was declining. Like, right before we launched, D'Otrade Glow, like, we had, we got every loan we could, every credit card, and literally everything was declining because we had maxed out everything. We didn't have anything. And so literally, I just remember, like, those moments, and but I do think, and I'm a Christian,
Starting point is 00:09:21 and so I truly feel God's favor over my life has really centered. me and it kept me like I'm around you're an outlet right you're around so many different personalities and people and energy and I truly think that I've worked for again just what I like coming from nothing again that appreciation having that mindset that like of course I'm always going to strive for more and work harder and but I never want to take away from like being a mom a wife a friend a sister because life just can go by so quick and like tomorrow's never promised and so I think it's just that inner ambition and I and I don't think that that's something that could be learned totally I think it's something that comes from the
Starting point is 00:10:12 core yeah and I think that that's what has said me aside and staying true to myself and just working hard yeah and that's what I love too about business or having you on business is you can take like the personal life lessons that you've learned or maybe it's your face or whatever it is and kind of use that as a segue to love on people. And it's like a spray tan, which maybe sounds so trivial or silly to some people. But I'm the same way. Like, whenever, because I, like I told you, my mom's Latina. She's this beautiful skin.
Starting point is 00:10:44 I wake up when I am pale, it's like people are like, kale is beautiful. I'm like, I know for some people, but not for me. Yeah. Yeah. And that's okay. And that's okay. And I have this like. It's the way it makes you feel.
Starting point is 00:10:55 Exactly. Not about the coloring and all that. It's the way that makes you feel. And I don't think that that's what people realize a spray tan or a self-tan can do to you. And even for like our deeper complexion clients, and that's what I love about adultery glows, we're always spreading awareness, like the damages and the sun spots. And, you know, and everybody, all skin types, all skin tones can burn. But it's the way a spray tan and self-tan makes you feel.
Starting point is 00:11:21 And me connecting that to the lowest points in my life and now being able to offer that service. And I'll tell you, like me, I always say the best conversations in my life have happened in my spray tan tent. Oh, well, I bet because they're probably butt naked and they're like, you see it all. It's like I see it all. And it's the most intimate thing other than being at your doctor's office, right? Like you go and you get your, you know, women check up and you're like, hey, nice to meet you and now get naked.
Starting point is 00:11:51 It's very similar with a spray tan. Hi, I'm Isbel. Now Get Naked. It's such an intimate moment. Yeah. But I feel like it's the way, again, you make people feel, right? And so me just making them feel comfortable, but that just comes so real for me. Yeah. And I just go in and I'm not, you know, trying to, you know, it's like it's about them in that moment. The amount of times I've grabbed my clients and they're like going through the worst times in their life. And they're like, I just
Starting point is 00:12:19 wanted to spray tan because I know it would make me feel better. That's literally the conversation. And I grab their hand. I'm like, do you mind if I pray with you? And like the biggest prayers and the best conversations have happened in that spray tan. So literally it's more than just a spray tan. It totally is. And I can just, it's so important. And I think that's why you're also so successful is because you weren't chasing the dollar. Never. You are. It's kind of reminds me of like a lot of like influencers or bloggers starting out. It's just doing all these like free things for these brands because you just want to provide this value for your audience and just and be real and be authentic and not just do brand deals and not just share like. Right. You know, the big trends going on. And I think people like that, they see that and they want to support you more.
Starting point is 00:13:01 And I'm sure, like, in those intimate moments, they're like, this girl is not just here to, like, get paid and do a spray tan. Like, she cares about me. 100%. And then, like, people want to support people that care about them. And it's so funny that you said that because I was doing, I was at Neiman Marcus doing a product knowledge class with, and it was, you know, we're talking about. I know. I'm so grateful and humble to have amazing retouching. partnerships, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Ulta, Revolve. Girl, you're everywhere. You're literally everywhere. You know what? And I'm like pinched me every single day. It's so surreal. But someone came up to me, one of the consumers that was there
Starting point is 00:13:40 to purchase and was listening to my story. And she goes, it's great that you spray tan, everybody I see on TV and in Hollywood. She goes, but what I love so much more is supporting someone like you with your story. I want to put my dollar towards a story. I want to put my dollar towards a like yours. And that was, that like clicked in my minds. And I'm like, yes, it's great and it's amazing. And I'm so grateful to work with some of the most influential people that get to wear my products every single day. But I never take it for granted. Yeah. So was there like a, was there like a turning point in your, in your career? Or was there like a celebrity that reached out? Or was there just like this pinch me moment starting that like that you just,
Starting point is 00:14:20 you're like, okay, this is where things are like on the up and up. Yeah. So it was so funny. I first started spray tanning, I always knew I wanted to be the best, I wanted to do the best, and I wanted to provide the best. So that was like... Literally, literally. Literally. I'm like, we need a T-shirt that says that. Literally. And I remember driving home and my husband would call me. And I'm a huge believer in manifestation in which you put out there you receive, right? So I'm a huge, like being a good person and being real and just authentic. But I'm a huge believer and obviously trusting what that path is for me. But, like, I remember calling my husband and he's like, let's go to dinner.
Starting point is 00:14:58 And he's here, right? He's in the room and he wouldn't know that this is so true. My husband. I would tell him, he's like, let's go to dinner. I'm like, no, Kim Kardashian is going to call me tonight for a spray tan. And he's like, really? And I was like, she's going to call me. Like, I'm going to spray tan her tonight.
Starting point is 00:15:13 So I would make myself believe that it was happening before it was even happening. Yeah. And within six months later, I had spray tanned Ariel, which is Kylie's makeup. artist and she had saw my spray tan on him and had called me for a spray tan. And so very, very early on, I would say a few years after I started spray tanning, which was pretty quickly, I spray tan her for the first time. And I was like, you know, this was, I've been tanning for about eight years now. So almost a decade and to be able to work with her just such early on, I think that was such a pivotal moment for me.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Well, okay, wait, we have a bunch of, you can't just glossed over this. Yeah. So you tanned Kylie. Mm-hmm. What was that like? You know what? Were you like, I'm not nervous or like, do you get star-struck? Oh, my gosh.
Starting point is 00:16:05 Are you driving up to the house and like, you're like, what is going on? Like. Yeah, I remember I always get a little nervous, but I would always tell myself that they're humans just like us. And they put their pants on the same way we do in the mornings and eat their breakfast like we do. And so I remember I was nervous, but I was like, I'm like, I need to pull my, because I want to be able to do my best job. And sometimes they feel like our nerves can take the best out of us if we're not mentally in that good place. So I remember going in and just, you know, going in and being myself, which I always want to make people feel comfortable. They're about to get naked in me.
Starting point is 00:16:45 So I'm like, hey, girl, like, nice to meet you get naked. But no, I want to her feel comfortable. And I wanted her to know that I wasn't like anybody else maybe that she had seen in her life, whether it was doing a spray tan or, you know, I wanted her to realize that like I'm just a regular girl trying to work hard and provide for my family. And this is all about you. And I'm here to make you look and feel great. And it was so quick. A spray tan has, you know, 15 to 20 minutes. And I remember just after being done and she looks in it and she like, it looks great. And, you know, that was pretty much like the start. of like me being able to say like I spray tan, you know, Kylie and then Little did I know it would go to Chloe and then it would go to Kim and then I would, you know, Katie Perry and Miley Cyrus and BB Rexa. I mean, and Chrissy Teagan, which, oh my God, Chrissy Teagan for me is, she's just an angel and JLo and being able to tan Jalo for the halftime show. I read that. It's, it's, it's sometimes I forget that it's like me. I feel like it's like this other person that's like. Like out like because it's just like, how did all this happen? But I'm just a huge believer that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be. Yeah. You know, and like working those dead end jobs and like I used to hate it, man. I remember praying at my desk for two years. I'm like, God, I know you have something
Starting point is 00:18:07 so much bigger and better out there for me. Like I don't know what it is. And then I wake up and just I'm like, I'm going to do it. And Kylie Jenner's like, hey, can I get this? I'm like, oh my gosh, this is just so surreal for me. And it's just all of that. And it's just all of that. And then at that point when I start working with these people at this A-list level, I was like, I need to have my own product. Yes. Because I can't be, you know, I'm making everybody else rich around me, which is great. Yeah. But I also need to have something that's different and see what was missing in the market and what people liked and what they didn't like.
Starting point is 00:18:44 And just going from all my clients and then they're like, hey, is your spray tan like this? Does it stink? Is it sticky? And so being able to then look into developing products, and that's where our credit cards started declining. Because it's a lot. It's the time and money and people don't realize, like, when you're developing products and the testing and, you know, the back and forts and the samples and the packaging of my dear Bailey over here who's like my right hand through all of this. Like, I don't, sometimes I just don't even know how we do it because it's so insane behind the same. It's building a brand and then having these.
Starting point is 00:19:20 retail relationships and trying to keep everyone happy and balancing. I'm still spray tan artists. I still go out and work till 2 a.m. to the day. I can't believe that. Like, I can't believe you're still doing, like, you're the one. That just shows your hustle too. Yeah. Yeah. And so, okay, what year did you launch the products? Like, when did you realize, okay, I've been doing spray tanning, but like, I need to have something more? I launched the professional line, which is available for professional spray tan artists five years ago. Which can I say a note about that? So the girl who's raised me in Dallas says that you have like one of the darkest solutions. Yes. Yes. She can't get anywhere else. Yeah. So she was like, you got it. You got to tell her that I love it.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Oh my gosh. That makes me so happy. She tans me in Dallas and she really wants to try the darkest. It's too dark for me, but yeah. I really need it. Oh my gosh. Well, we'll have to one of these days. Well, I know you're heading out soon, but we definitely, I would love to get that same J-Lo experience. Girl, please. Miley experience. Um, but yes, you know, know, formulating that almost five years ago. And then reformulating, we just launched. We needed to change it up and, you know, add some more skin-loving ingredients and just amp it up because we're always looking to evolve and have the best products out in the market. And that was a really crazy process. But I'm just so happy to own my formulations. Yes. And which is a very expensive
Starting point is 00:20:43 process as well. And that's been a couple years. Yeah. So we just re, so I launched first, the first set of professional products that go in your spray tan machine five years ago. And then we discontinued that and then redeveloped our like elevated spray tanning for professionals. We just launched that six months ago. Oh, so it's all pretty new. Yeah. So that one, the redevelopment is pretty new. And then the self-tanners came a few years after that. So we launched a self-tanners three years ago, which is the at-home piece. Yeah. And did they immediately launch into retailers? Or did it take, did it kind of like take time? gosh, our bulk, which is for professionals, is all on our dot com. So as a business owner, you would
Starting point is 00:21:27 understand. Like, the more your stuff you get on your dot com, the better for the business, right? Exactly. And then we launched three years ago, and it was just on our dot com. And then our first retail partnership was with Nordstrom, which I'm forever indebted to my Nordstrom because they believed in me when we were pitching to every other place. And they're like, we're just not ready for a new Tanner, just there wasn't that traction with the brand yet, and I get it. But I was like, I'm going to prove you wrong. Yeah. Don't tell me no. I'm going to find a way. And sure enough, I have, you know, with most of these. And now, you know, they're one of the top selling brands. And, you know, just to be able to have these retail partnerships now that are growing every single day.
Starting point is 00:22:08 It's just so surreal for me. And I saw that you are on QVC. So we're kind of in, I've actually been on QVC one time with LMS, but I was a guest. By the way, LMS, absolutely obsessed. The bomb. I can't live without it. Last night, actually, right? I was literally, we just came back from, we took a little family vacay. And I was like, where is my LMS? I left it there and I'm out. Yeah. I'm like, so LMS, I obsessed with your fancy bomb. They're the best. They actually flew my mom and I out to QVC and we did like a little second as guests. So it was really short. Actually, we did one of like the midnight ones. I'm sure because you know QVC. Oh my God. The hits. You're there. You got to be ready.
Starting point is 00:22:49 You got to be ready. It doesn't matter because they're very like if you're not available, we'll move on to the next person. Absolutely. And so, but we've been talking about getting Divy on QVC. It's like this whole process. But it is crazy that like you are the face of the brand. You're creating all these things. You're the CEO.
Starting point is 00:23:07 You're the founder. But then you're also on camera, which is like very difficult. It's a lot. So much. And I mean, we just got back. I was at in Pennsylvania once a week for about a month. trades because we had hit after hit after hit. Did you know it was going to be that long?
Starting point is 00:23:24 So I didn't know how many segments they had scheduled for like our purchase order. And I just remember they're like, okay, you'll be back. And they give you like, it's like a week's notice. So you're like and there's only like one direct flight from L.A. It's American Airlines. And so if not you have like a stop into Philadelphia. And so I was like, it's hard because I want to be available for my clients. And this is the stuff behind the scenes I struggle with every day to where it's like my
Starting point is 00:23:48 relationships with my clients are so important, but I'm also in this place where it's like I'm building this brand that really needs me. Yeah. And so me being a founder and going on as like a CEO, like there's no one better if I could give you any advice, like you need to do it because there's no one better that can talk about your brand and knows your brand inside and out that will, that energy. I don't care what, who the spokesperson is, how much experience they have, no one can do better than you. And I'm so happy and so proud that we made it work and we sold out almost every single show in minutes to have that and to be out there. And it's just so crazy for me. That is so wild. And so you're doing things like UVC. And then you have, I don't know, Sophia Ritchie for her
Starting point is 00:24:37 wedding, Rachel. Like, are you just, how does, are you, first of all, are you like under a major NDA for all these people? You know what? And obviously we always, I never kiss and tell. But my clients have always been so supportive about me sharing that I spray tan them, right? And so, you know, being able to go and spray tan her for her wedding and go to France. And these are the experience. I did, yeah. And so to be out there. And it was one of those things to where I didn't care how much I got paid or how little or how much.
Starting point is 00:25:07 It was about the opportunities. And I think that people, and I hear this a lot, because, you know, I do spray tan classes too. Oh, I do them once a month. I do them once a month. In LA here. So normally I'll try, sometimes I'll travel to like New York and do some big cities. But I train people from across the world. We do Zoom and we do in-person spray tan classes.
Starting point is 00:25:27 Wow. And so I have people every month that join from Sweden, Australia, Paris. And they're like, you know, 10, 20, you know, 15 hours ahead from across the world that are using Doltrichglode that are using, that have trained with my technique. And so now being able to, you know, train people how to do. spray tans. But what I love so much about that, and this is something I don't talk about. Nev is my first year, I worked a full-time job, nine hours, was a wife, a mother. After my daughter went to bed, I would go do spray tan. So two in the morning, I'd roll into my office the next day, still got employee of the year three years in a row while doing that and building my business.
Starting point is 00:26:08 Do you know what the Eniogram is? What was that? The Eniogram? No. Okay, it's like a personality test. Anyway, I feel like you're the achiever. Oh my gosh. Why? I can tell. But just girls are my first year spray tanning, I made over six figures. Wow. And so now being able to teach other women and males how to give this service because now it's we're living in like the most difficult and expensive times and inflation. And so now being able to give this opportunity to other women to learn my technique, to be able to show them that they could make great money and quick service.
Starting point is 00:26:41 Baby's going to bed. Let me knock in a quick spray tan during nap time for single moms that are at home. maybe, you know, pandemic, they lost their jobs, like being able to now do this and making other people look and feel good at the same time. So I'm grateful to just be in a place too where I'm also sharing what I know and sharing what I learned. And so do you ever have, because I was just thinking, this would be genius for Jordan to take the class. And then I don't have to go anywhere. And they'll just pay to me. Exactly. Do you ever have husbands come in and take the class? I have husbands. I've had lawyer. Jordan has a sideboard.
Starting point is 00:27:16 I mean, when I tell you the people that have taken my classes, I've retrained people with years of experience. Yeah. I just want to know the Doltriglow way. I've trained lawyers. I've trained doctors. I've trained nurses. I've trained school teachers because everyone needs that like second source of income. It's so hard.
Starting point is 00:27:34 And they can do it like literally 15, 20 minutes. That's something, the girl who's hand by Chrissy shot out. Yeah. Aw. She's the best. So it's so sweet. She has a baby. under a year old.
Starting point is 00:27:47 I think she, no, she's just, she's planning her one year birthday party. But she will come at the job of, I think she'll come to my house at like 10.30. Oh yeah. You know, spray tan, but it's so sweet. Her husband drives her. And oh my God, shout out to my husband. He is an electrical engineer. And literally, he would drive me and still does.
Starting point is 00:28:07 That's why he's here today. But literally, I would tan until 2, 3 in the morning. He would be up at work out the door at 4.30 in the morning until this day. gets my spray tan kit ready, packs the car, has Starbucks ready. And even if he's not driving me, if it's like Bailey or one of the girls, he's Uber and eats food for not just me. For Bailey, he has coffee in the car. Like, shout out to the most supporting, amazing husband because I would not be here where I'm, I would not be literally here today without a true loving and supportive partner. And we've been together 13 years, married for 11 years this year. And
Starting point is 00:28:45 literally have built everything together. How did y'all meet? So it was actually through my twin sister. So he's related to my twin sister's ex-husband. Okay, he's related to your twin sisters. Yeah. So we're in like the same like Middle Eastern family. And so he also, his mom, just a little bit about my husband, he's Mexican also. Okay. His biological dad is Italian, but he was raised Armenian. So he doesn't speak Spanish. We go to restaurants and they like look at him because his mom's Hispanic and they're like speaking in Spanish and he like looks at me and I'm like, I can help you, you know. And so. Side note. Same thing because my husband's a Ramirez and doesn't speak a look of Spanish.
Starting point is 00:29:26 Exactly. They're like, they come out and he's like, oh, talk to her. Talk to the white girl. I'm like, yeah. Yeah, exactly. And so he actually speaks Armenian. And so because his stepdad's Armenian. And so, you know, it's just so crazy for me. I love the, obviously the mixing in the families. But it's like I speak Spanish. She speaks Armenian. How funny is it? You know, and I think we obviously really connected. And so we're married into his stepdad, which I hate to say stepdad because he's the one who raised him.
Starting point is 00:29:56 And so it doesn't define. But his dad is, you know, the person that raised him and taught him, you know, everything he knows today. And so, you know, it's that's the family. And I'm a part in. My twin sister's husband is Armenian. And so she has Armenian and Italian kids. And. Wow.
Starting point is 00:30:15 He, he, he, he, he, he, he, his mom actually begged me for two years and said, you need to date my son. Oh, my. And I was like, I was in a relationship and I was like, I can. Like he's, we love a mom that goes out there. Oh, yeah. He's not my type and blah, blah, blah. And then he, she's like, you need to meet my son. And we went to Vegas for my 21st birthday. And my boyfriend at the time didn't go. And so he goes, you're going to be my girlfriend for the weekend. I'm like, I'm really going to be in trouble. You guys better put those phones away. Yeah. Because they were like paparazzi because everyone wanted us to be together. And that weekend, actually, he's like, I'm going to marry you. And I'm like, really? I'm like, this is a little, this is much, right? And we have been together every day since in that Vegas trip.
Starting point is 00:30:57 I came back and broke up with my boyfriend that I've been with for four and a half years. I went to my therapist. And I was like, is it bad running from like one relationship to the other? And she's like, girl, I do the same thing with my husband. Yeah. When you know, you know. And I was like, okay. Wait, so did I though.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Same thing. I love that. Like, I never tell the story. But my boyfriend dropped me off to meet Jordan. Oh, he brought me coffee that morning and helped my ex-boyfriend move me out of my apartment when I moved in with my grandpa and he like swooped up on him like no one's business. While my boyfriend didn't bring me coffee that morning, Vinny did. Uh-uh.
Starting point is 00:31:29 Vinny did. Oh, my gosh. I love that. So you all work together. What does Vinny think about all of this? You know, he's obviously the most loving and supportive husband. And he comes from, you know, they didn't have a lot of money grown up. I mean, his parents did decent could provide he has brothers and sisters, four of them, I think.
Starting point is 00:31:49 He's the only child from an outside marriage. So three brothers and sisters from his dad and then three brothers and sisters from his mom and his dad, which is really his dad. And so going through, you know, all of that, and I think being able to connect on like the broken family and stuff like that, we just were able to really understand each other. he has never once not supported me or said, I don't think you can or I don't believe in you or you have to be a stay-at-home mom or whatever it is. Like, he is literally my rock. Like, I could not do this without him and I would not be where I'm at sitting without him because, by the way, he picked my outfit out today.
Starting point is 00:32:35 Oh, that's pretty good. Oh, yeah. Oh, he's better than me. He shops from me. He lays out all my clothes on the bed. I come home. There's a bachelor on. Like, coffee ready for me, food. Like, literally when we say, we always say it's not 50-50, it's 100, 100 in a relationship. Yeah, that's so true. And we're best friends before anything. And one thing about him that I think is so different is he, and we've gone through family drama. Yeah, of course. Who hasn't? And, you know, even he doesn't have his mom here anymore, rest in peace to his mom. But he, when he married me, he put me first before.
Starting point is 00:33:11 everyone. It was kind of biblical too. You know, it's like, you're going to your next family. And that's what it is. And he's like, I'm marrying her. Like, this is my new family. And that's how it is. You know, in the Bible, that's what they talk about. And we went through some really tough, you know, our wedding. We paid for it by ourselves. He had lost his job two months before that. My sister bought me a $300. David's bridal dress. It was the best dress in my life. You know, just we came from nothing. And we literally have built everything together. And I don't think if we weren't on the same page. like it would not work out because I'm always on the go and I'm always traveling and I'm going to France or I'm going here. I'm going to Philadelphia. And so being a mom and him holds in the best
Starting point is 00:33:52 father. Like if I'm not there, he's brushing my daughter's hair, putting it in a braids. He's like the best hair braider by the way for my daughter. He's like so cute. There's nothing he won't do for her. And it's the most amazing thing to have such, I think my core is really having such state friends. Yeah. And family. I've talked a lot about my husband, but I think also my team, and we're talking about this earlier, is literally my family. And when I mean, like, my family, like, we do everything together, trips, dinners, birthdays, like, we're literally always together. And I don't have a lot of family, right? And so my business is my family and my girls. And like one day, if I'm, like, in a meeting, I'll call Bailey, hey, can you pick up Mia from school?
Starting point is 00:34:41 Yeah. She's like, she's our CMO. I'm a CMO, but like, I'm available. But like literally drops anything. But that's like the type of team. Like if there's anybody that joins our team that doesn't have that same, like I'm willing that I can do attitude. But it's like it's amazing to be able to work with people that one you can truly trust because that's so hard these days. But that truly love you and have your best interest at heart. And no, like I take care of my team though. Like one thing. about me as if like you're a part of my life. Like I'm going above and beyond for you, whether it's birthdays or whatever it is. Like I'm there. And I think, again, the core is my family and my husband and also my Dolcei Glow team. Yeah. It's really special when you build something together instead of, I had these friends, you know, in college and they're like, I just want to marry a man that can provide and can do that. And I think what was so special about Jordan and I, too, is like we built everything that we did together as well.
Starting point is 00:35:43 And it's like, and that's honestly, I feel like the fun part. It's not even the end of the journey. It's like, I mean, it's hard. It's challenging, but it's like the most rewarding. But that's what's going to keep you guys together until the end of time. Yes. Because you guys have been through those really hard times. And for me, I don't care about the bags, the shoes.
Starting point is 00:36:03 Like, I could care less. It's great. And yes, I love a nice purse. Of course. That's not going to make me happy. But it's not. You know, it's like my, you know, yesterday, you know, being able to go on and just eat with my friend's sushi and we're like, we need to do more of this. And just like those moments for me. I don't, I could care less about all that stuff. And that's why why like all these celebrities hire you too, because they can, they feel that way. They feel like they can trust you because I'm sure that they're very guarded with the people that they let into their lives. And you're like, I'm not here for that. Like, I don't care. No, I don't care. And they need. And they.
Starting point is 00:36:38 know that and it's like it's nothing that I even have to say it's like when you meet me you know that I'm here for you yeah and I and I just want you to look and feel good and I want you to love the product and um you know but also everything that I do in that spray tantin in those conversations like I was supposed to be a psychologist like I wanted to open my own practice one day and I'm like I'm doing that every single day yeah yeah that I'm in that spray tan tent then they're in that spray tantin I'm praying with them. I'm talking to them. Vinny is every, all of my clients. Like, Vinny is like the man of all men. Like they're like Vinny and they're staying in front of their husbands and like, did you hear Vinny was braiding her hair? Oh, seriously. Like Vinny is like literally like,
Starting point is 00:37:20 oh my God, these husbands probably hate me because everyone's like, I need a video in my life. But, you know, it's so true. It's 100%. It's really just like being true and being your most authentic self because I mean, it's everything. This episode of D-Inluence is brought to you by I-Robot. I love these things. Thanks to IROB robot for sponsoring today's episode as I've been such a big fan for years. So when you were growing the business with Vinnie,
Starting point is 00:39:29 did you have like any type of mentor? or I feel like everything, it just seems like everything just lined up so perfectly. And it doesn't, I don't know if there were any like, you know, big, there was like big mishaps or something that went wrong. But like, oh my God, every single, every single day, there's shit that goes wrong. Yeah. Like literally, behind the scenes. Like, when you have products, you're like, are you freaking kidding me? I would have said the F word right now.
Starting point is 00:39:54 I want to be politically. Are you effing kidding me? Yeah. Like this is, it's crazy behind the scenes. What are the challenges? I mean, packaging, components not working, testing, stuff not getting in on time. Our stuff is obviously the best spray tan products are made in Australia. So our self-tanners are all made there.
Starting point is 00:40:14 And it's like the lead times, getting stuff here, getting it on a ship, not just getting it produced. And having an air freight stuff here just to make an Ulta PO. It's just like it's madness, right? It's madness. But I can understand that too, having, you know, our own company. And we're only in Ulta so far. But like, I get it. And by the way, I heard from a little birdie that you guys are killing it.
Starting point is 00:40:34 And they absolutely love you there. That makes it so happy. Oh, my gosh. Thank you. But, you know, again, every single day is just like something so different. And just it's like so much shit happens. I know. One of these days I'll be able to write a book that I'm like, it's literally going to be called.
Starting point is 00:40:53 I won't say what it's going to be called because I need to trademark that before it gets out. Yeah. Don't tell. Don't tell anybody. But it's just all the crazy stuff that. happens, but again, I don't take any of it. Do you have any, like, crazy stories, crazy spray-tan stories, experiences, trips? Oh my God. I mean, like shit that has happened. Like, I've almost, a whole photo shoot has been canceled one time on me because when I was trained, no one told me
Starting point is 00:41:18 not to spray-tanned someone when your sunburned, and it was one of the biggest celebrities, and they almost canceled an entire photo shoot. Wait, why not? So what happens is DHA is a dehydrated ingredients. So if your skin is burnt from the sun and not just, even if it's been a few weeks, your skin takes a few months to repair from the sun burnt. So applying a self-tanner on that will cause you to peel. And so I loaded her up with spray tan solution and we're talking major A list. Huge photo shoot the next day the makeup artist is sending me pictures. It's black. It's coming down. How do I fix this? They're on set. They literally almost had to cancel the photo shoot.
Starting point is 00:41:59 And that is why I care so much about my spray tan classes. Yeah. Because I never want anybody to make. I had to learn the hard way girl. Like literally, I learned from making tons of mistakes on some of the biggest people that I thought would never call me back again. But like making mistakes like that that led me obviously to be caring so much about my spray tan classes. But you're not supposed to spray tan when your sun burns. So what are some other rules?
Starting point is 00:42:26 because like, oh, sometimes I am, so I'm a big self-tanness girl. So, and that's because I like to have control over it. And if I don't, if I don't have time to go to spray tan or something, like, I just want to do it myself. So I've always been, like, really big into the mooses. Yes. I tend to, like the, because, you know, you have some that have, like, this really strong green undertone. And then you have some that, like, are more brown. Yep.
Starting point is 00:42:51 So I've always kind of been, like, in the middle of the road because I can't go too green. Yeah. It just looks weird. But then, like, after I do the moose, like the second day, you know, they always say like stay moisturized. Then sometimes this, you might be like, oh, this is not what you're supposed to do. But I use like your gradual taining lotion to like maintain it. And then you, so normally I would recommend. So now, don't do that.
Starting point is 00:43:13 So a gradual lotion is great when you're like five days in. Okay. So the reason why you might not have maybe an even fade, et cetera, is you're applying two DHA products too soon. A true spray tan or self-tanned takes about two days to fully develop into your skin. And so now you're over-dehydrating your skin. So if you want to use a little bit of the gradual, mix it in your own lotion, do one little drop. Or even use our Gautra de Soleil face and body drops. Do one to three drops just to help maintain that.
Starting point is 00:43:45 I would say maybe about day three to day five. Yeah. But don't apply a gradual lotion so soon because you're just going to dehydrate your skin. So a gradual lotion is more towards the end of your skin. your tan. But if you're like, you know, I need a little spice up. You maybe did two or three days ago. Do a drop or two in your own moisturizer. And that will be life changing. That's a good tip. And so you also sent me one over DMs. Was that over my finger? Did I post my finger on story? Okay. So what happens is, oh, the hands. Yeah. So what happens to me is, I'm sure this
Starting point is 00:44:18 happens to a lot of people, you get a spray tan or, or I like to sleep in it because I'm just like, And I know my sheets are gross and my sweet husband is like, it's fine. Yes. But I'll sleep in my spray tan and then usually, you know, it looks good or if I did it myself. But I get nice sweats too. Yeah. I've had them since like I had my babies. They've gotten a little bit better.
Starting point is 00:44:38 But like sometimes, really. I was just talking to my husband about that the other day. Mine have gotten better. But have you heard of the eight sleep? No. Okay. This is like not sponsored. I swear.
Starting point is 00:44:49 This is a mattress that it's actually a mattress cover. that it's like plugged in, it almost looks like it's plugged into like a computer next to your bed. Yeah. Yeah. But it uses water to filter through the bed to cool or to like warm the bed. And so it can like read your temperature and like if you're really hot, it'll like send the cold water through. It is the most amazing mattress pad. Just. I might just need to get one. Just saying. But yes, we're talking about obviously the night sweats. Yeah. You know, I was talking about the palms and all that stuff. Because I will sleep on it and it will come up on my fingers. Yes. So a great way of obviously preventing the palms is before you go to bed, try to put a good amount of lotion or oil on your palms. Okay. That's going to prevent that if you're like hands are on your body, etc.
Starting point is 00:45:39 Like that's going to prevent the product from like penetrating on your hands. But again, I gave you that little tip earlier too. But also applying, just using socks on your hands before you go to bed can help produce that handprint in the morning. Like I told you, I don't know what happened to me last night. I'm still looking for the handprint on my body. But I used, you know, dishwash soap like I was telling you about to remove that off of my hands. You said dishwash soap and what? So in a pumice stone. And a pumice stone. That's a secret girl. I just gave it all away there. But that literally this morning, salted. She's like, you owe me $10. No, no. No, I am so
Starting point is 00:46:16 happy because no one wants to walk around with that. But that's stuff that can happen. But I love talking about, Like, you know, the mitts, sometimes for a moose or a mitt on the hands, can be a little rough in terms of application. So I love our mist. We have a clear mist, either our aqua self-taining, which is amazing for a setting spray on your makeup, like adding that. But I also use that on the hands. That or our lucha mist, which is clear, like literally my hands, like nothing is in between, like literally my. It looks perfect. And so I use that.
Starting point is 00:46:51 I will never use a mitt. I will never use that. And I like it and I just spray at a distance and circular motions, one to two sprays. And you're supposed to kind of do? Always, yeah. So we call them like bear claws. And so always, then it'll get in between the webs of that. Oh, good to know.
Starting point is 00:47:05 What about shaving? Because that's like, so do you recommend people shave before or after? So they technically should be shaving 24 hours in advance. And I'll tell you why. It's a number one cause for streaks in a self-tan or spray tan because of the wax. because of the wax on the razor. So that creates like that scraping of the skin. The wax residue will remain on your skin.
Starting point is 00:47:29 So if you're shaving 24 hours in advance by that time, you've showered and a lot of that's off. So there are razors that don't have that wax strip that are a little better or even just applying a little conditioner when you're shaving your legs can actually prevent some of that strip penetrating on your skin. That makes so much sense. That's happened to me before. It's a form of exfoliation.
Starting point is 00:47:52 It's the number one cause for streaks in a spray tan or self-tane is shaving right before tan or rinsing with soap before your spray tan appointment. Like a lot of people think I need to exfoliate and rinse and all that stuff. That should be actually done at least eight hours in advance or if not 24 hours in advance. Wait, why so? So the soap is the second cost for streaks in a spray tan or self-tan. Soap residue, you didn't rinse all the soap off right. It's coming down your skin and it stays on your skin.
Starting point is 00:48:20 so that can cause residue and the spray tan will absorb in those areas. My mind is blown. That's happened to me so many times. Yeah. And I can never figure it out why. And I'll have like these like strong streaks. Yep, exactly. And it's normally because there's soap residue that was used right before or left on the skin.
Starting point is 00:48:37 Sweat obviously can do that. And again, using like a makeup white, my salient water, alcohol prep pads, you know, will help remove that the next day. Those are like great ways to do, you know, help fix that. But if the shaving is a hard part for obviously a lot of women especially. And so I try to do shave 24 hours in advance. And then I won't shave for up to two to three days after. The great thing about a spray tan is normally you can't see when the hair starts to come out when you have a spray tan on.
Starting point is 00:49:06 So normally you can wait that two to three days post. No one's going to tell me not to shave my armpits. But you can't tell though. For you, but the tan helps cover that. But keep in mind shaving is still. but that's why laser hair removal is great, by the way. But shaving is still a form of exfoliation. And that will start to remove some of the tan as well.
Starting point is 00:49:28 So I always say wait as long as you can. Like me looking at you, I could never tell. Yeah. But those are always to extend the life of the tan, obviously exfoliating, moisturizing every single day, one to two times a day are like great ways to just extend that life of the tan. The other thing that happens to you the most, and this will be like the last thing you talk about. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:49:48 The mustache that I get. And I try really hard to, especially to, I don't usually get it when I get a spray tan. It's like if I do it myself. Yeah. And you get this little five. What are you using on your face? So are you applying using a lip gloss before or no? Before I do the tan?
Starting point is 00:50:04 Yeah. Oh, it just depends. So if you have any lip gloss or chapstick on, it is recommended. But just being careful not to attach, like literally just the inside of the lip, because if there's anything on the outside of your lip, it's not going to attach to that. you're going to have that like white. Is that what you're experiencing the white around the lip? It's like up here. And it's like some, it kind of, are you using the moose on your face?
Starting point is 00:50:26 Sometimes. Okay. So I want you to change to either our aqua self-taining mist. So I, this is not going to be working for a few. Yes. So I want you to try the aqua self-taining mist. That's the one that I literally will use a night before. But I'm scared because it's clear.
Starting point is 00:50:43 It's clear. But I'm scared. I don't know like a self, like a setting spray. And you think I want. won't get the five o'clock. I think it's going to help really fix the five o'clock. I think you're going to need to try it. Sorry, we're talking about this. No, I think you're really going to love it. I mean, I don't have the five o'clock. It's like some of my, like, I think the most feet I get. The Aqua last night. Have you tried the drops? I love the drops. Okay. I love the drops. But, like,
Starting point is 00:51:06 honestly, what I do is I put the drops like in a moisturizer, put it everywhere and then I'll just take, like, whatever, like a cloth and I'll just clean off right above here. Okay. So that's why you're clean. You're supposed to clean it. I would just make sure you're the clean you're moving. That's where you have the five o'clock there. So definitely I would try just a setting mist spray. Trust, I always say with the spray tan. Trust the process. It's clear. Does it mean that it's not tanning? I literally love the drops and the aqua self tanning for face. I use it over my makeup, under my makeup the night before. Ask my girls, I'm obsessed. I am not one. She's like, I know. I'm literally seven draw seven sprays every night like I'm obsessed with it but it has tons of skin goodies and just dermatology tested that's my last thing um do you use it after like do you clean your face use a
Starting point is 00:51:58 moisturizer syrup like when do you put the or the spray on so I'll do my LMS first wash my face all that stuff you know use a warm wash cloths remove all that get my skin nice and prepped and then after that I'll use my drops and my moisturizer I love the keels face cream. I really love mixing that. Wait, do you know that like I'm obsessed with that one too? Oh my God. It's so crazy. Kills for body and face is incredible. The one that doesn't have the scent. Exactly. No scent. Fragrins. That's literally my favorite. So good. So I'll mix three drops of my our Gautra di Soleil face and body drops. I'll put that in there. One to three drops. Mix that in my moisturizer, ready to go. And then before bed, I would say actually right after I put a little bit
Starting point is 00:52:48 of my aqua valve tanning spray for that extra boost of anything. Because when you're mixing drops in a moisturizer, so there is a little bit of a barrier. So I'll go back over and add the aqua spray on top. Yeah. And it's like perfect. And it feels good. And the best thing is, you don't like barely have to use makeup the next day. I don't think people realize that. That's what I love. I have the same way. I barely, I use like a very light tinted moisturizer The next day because your makeup. It just looks. It goes on, if you are wearing makeup, it goes on so great.
Starting point is 00:53:19 But also, like, it reduces, like, for that busy mom on the go, having a self-tanning spray or drops. It's going to give you that, like, boost of glow in the morning without having to put, like, a full-face of foundation on because we're all running, right? We're doing the lunches and, you know, dropping the girls off in the morning or whatever it is, the kids off. And it's, like, just having something where, like, less is more. Like, I'm so busy. And so. But what I love also is like ours has caffeine and our drops and it literally will boost and plump my skin the next day. Like I have seen a huge difference in my skin because of all the skin goodies that's in our products.
Starting point is 00:53:55 Yeah. That's so cool. So how did, I can't believe we haven't talked about this. How did the Miley Cyrus investment go about? Were you tanning her for a while? And then you're like, yeah, I'm sorry my own products. And she's like naked in the tent. She's like, oh, I want to invest in it.
Starting point is 00:54:10 Yeah. So it's, she's like, no. It's not. No. So my, it actually, I had been spray tanning Miley for a few years before that. And she found love with Dolchigl. She had actually been sprayed by another spray tan artist out in Nashville that used Dolce Glow on her. Oh, cool. And shout out to Haley. She's amazing. And Haley actually connected me with Miley and said, this is your Dolce Glow girl in L.A. Like, this is what I used on you. And so I started tanning Miley here. And, you know, we built a relationship. Miley is literally the most chillest, amazing person I have ever worked with. But like, she's like literally like you and I. Like so chill, once in, hugging everyone. She's just incredible. And so one day I'm spray tanning her again in my spray tan tins. And she goes, have you ever thought of, you know, having an investor or, you know, as I'm talking about, you know, she's like, you're always here so late.
Starting point is 00:55:08 And it's so late. and I appreciate you coming to me and, you know, come so late. And I'm like, actually, like, we opened our first friends and family round of investment. So that's how it started. And I'm like, we're probably going to close it very soon. And she looks at me and she goes, I want to invest in your brand. And I'm like, are you joking? Like, this is all while she's, like, naked in front of me.
Starting point is 00:55:29 And I'm like, she's like, I'm an invest in your brand. And I'm like, people have said that to me. A lot of my clients have. Really? And they're like, we want to be a part of it. some capacity. We believe in you. We've seen what she built. And I was like, okay, well, maybe, you know, I'm not going to push it if she approaches me again. Great. And she's like, I love it. Like, I have never, you know, invested in a beauty product. Like, you know,
Starting point is 00:55:52 her personally, like investing her own money. Yeah. Which a lot of these deals are licensing deals, right? So they pay a celebrity to endorse a product or, you know, that's just how it goes, right? It's the influencer world. But for her to be like, I want to be like, I want to. I want to be like, I want to invest in you and I'm going to connect you with my team. And so anyways, a few weeks past, I tanned her again. She says, hey, did my team call you? And I'm like, no. She goes, I, she goes, you will have a call by 8 a.m. tomorrow morning.
Starting point is 00:56:22 She goes, I'm doing it. And I don't care what anybody says. I believe in you. I believe in the brands and I want to be a part of this with you. And so the next morning I had a call from her team at 801 in the morning saying, how do we get started? Can we talk to your CFO? What's the valuation? what's all, you know, all the legal stuff.
Starting point is 00:56:40 Yeah. And again, that process, right, when you start reviewing legal where you just don't know where it's going to go, right? There could be something they don't agree on or we don't agree on. By that time, I had just, you know, hired my CFO and getting our valuation established and what's the brand worth today? What's it worth next year? And finding that, like, comfortable ground.
Starting point is 00:57:00 Mm-hmm. And so it took a few months, but it went through. And what I love so much about that was, Miley says, you didn't give me money. I gave you money. That's how much I believed in the brand and that's how much I believe in you. And the amount of infrastructure that Miley and her team have provided Dolce Glow that we didn't have were a baby brand, right? Yeah, of course.
Starting point is 00:57:25 The partnerships, the people that are now involved with our brand and one of them being Olivia Coppil too. Yeah. That loved, you know, pretty much DolceGlo and loved all the problems. products and literally she's like, I've tried everything and this is the best on the market. That's how I've also became a part of it. And so, you know, Miley, just the fact that she believed in me, stood by her word, her team, you know, got all, not just her involved, her entire team, her management. I'm, there's other people, I can't share, but literally the amount of people that Miley has brought to make DolceGlo even better in the infrastructure.
Starting point is 00:58:07 And her jumping on Zooms with my team to go over the creative, to go over the Instagram, to go over the website, to go over what she likes and what she thinks. I mean, I'm in awe. I grew up with her. I grew up with Hannah Montana. Most of us did, right? And to be able to partner with someone who I love, Miley goes, I'm not an influencer. She is not an influencer, but because she believed and loved and uses a product so much. and she saw the struggle and me going to her with bags down my eyes,
Starting point is 00:58:38 tired, but like I pushed through. Yeah. And the work ethic that she's like, you are the people I want to be in business with. You are the business partner I want to have. She gets brand pitched every day. Oh, that's what's so. By the biggest companies in the world. Anyone, everyone.
Starting point is 00:58:56 Literally. And she declines them. Yeah, of course. And she's like, people like you, Isabel and Dolceiglo are the companies that I support. and believe it. And when her fans found out, because Miley doesn't talk about her face serum, now her vogue, she doesn't influence people, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:13 If there's something Miley's talking about, it's because she believes in it, uses it, and loves it. And so now to have her and to be able to put us and give us these opportunities and her friends and family and having our endless summer globe vacation box with her to launch with an album that's probably going to be one of her biggest albums. through her career and flowers, you know. And it's all Dolcei Glow. It's like she was like literally like not even trying, but it's like it's all Dolce
Starting point is 00:59:44 Glow. You know, it's like you look at it. You're like, damn, that tan looks good. And I feel like Miley and I have like somewhat similar skin tones. So I think that's why whenever I read the article, I was like, oh, if she's using it, then I feel like I would like it too. It's kind of similar. It is.
Starting point is 00:59:59 Yeah. And so that is literally the craziest story. I always have loved Miley Cyrus, but that just makes me love her even more. To know her is to love her. And I really, and again, going back to where Miley isn't an influencer. So when she is telling her fans about something and putting it on, she's one of, you know, part of the top 20th most followed person over 201 million followers to be sharing Doltriglo and her stories and, you know, doing the British Vogue and just putting us on. And believing in a small business owner that literally came from nothing that started this with nothing that charge of every single credit card.
Starting point is 01:00:39 And for Miley to be offered every single deal in the book with the biggest companies in the world and be like, I'm supporting you and I want to be a part of this with you. If that doesn't speak volumes about her, I don't know what does. Exactly. Did you see, was it just like a whirlwind after that? World win. Everything's completely changed. Really? Everything.
Starting point is 01:00:58 Everything in our business from the way we're perceived. and not that it was anything different, but it's, you know, about brand traction and we're everywhere now. You're everywhere. Were you in all those retailers before? No, so some of them have come because of that. But I would, I also have to give credit to Chris Jenner, who actually, yes, has given. Yes, yes, my job. Yes.
Starting point is 01:01:25 Well, we love, we also love Chris. Yes. I mean, the boss of all bosses. I mean, Chris. has connected me with some of the biggest retailers, even prior to the Miley stuff, and has been the conversations and the advice and the expertise. And, I mean, talk about what she's done in her life and with all the businesses that they're all a part of and, you know, all the whole entire family. Like, it's just incredible to be able to have that advice. And this is why I'm so grateful
Starting point is 01:02:01 every single day for my clients that it's not just a spray tan, they have helped me and have paved this like business for me. And, you know, going back to your earlier question where it's like, did you have a mentor? Did you have someone that you looked up to? You know, obviously talking about my traumas, I would not be where I'm at today without going to a therapist. I saw the same therapist for over 11 years. Wow. That I would go to her three, four times a week and just cram my eyes out because I didn't understand why I could go through two sets of parents and be let down. But her words of advice and guidance through the years, I think, have had a huge influence on where I'm at today and who I am today. But also having God's favor over my life and trusting that,
Starting point is 01:02:58 you know, whatever he has planned for me is going to be. And someone asked me recently, actually a year ago, I was, every year I try to give back to foster care agencies. And so we gift to Hathaway foster care agencies, one of the agencies that I came out of. And so just with my friends and family will do like, I get all the kids Christmas list, all the foster kids Christmas list. And we grant all the Christmas wishes every year. And last year I did a visit. it and the director said something about a business plan. And I said, one of an investor asked me, Isabel, what's your business plan? And I said, God's plan.
Starting point is 01:03:37 And he looked at me and just had this straight face and expected, you know, and obviously we have a tentative business plan. So if you're a business owner, you know that thing changes every single day. But truly, it has been God's plan and God's business plan and direction on my life that I think has had everything to do with my success and the people that God has surrounded me with and put into my life that even yesterday we had a meeting and we're like how the heck did we like literally feels like everything just keeps lining up and the way it's supposed to and so it's crazy yeah what are you um are you working on anything you know in the future yeah do you have oh yeah so
Starting point is 01:04:19 definitely a lot of new products with dolche glow that's that's probably the most exciting and fun part is we're always looking, we don't like to stay on trend. Yeah. We're looking for innovation. We're looking for, I'm speaking with people from France. I'm speaking from chemist. I'm thinking outside of the box. What new ingredients, what's new?
Starting point is 01:04:42 And I think for us, we're always looking at innovation. And we have our core products, which are amazing, like the moose or sprays, our, you know, face stuff. But now it's now elevating that and bringing innovative. to both the tanning and skin care space. And so we are excited to continue to just bring innovative products that I'm super excited about. But also another big part of my business is, you know, you can have the best business in the world, but if you're not giving back and helping others along the way, then you're not, I feel like I'm not fulfilling my job.
Starting point is 01:05:22 So I would love to, we're going to find a way to donate for every purchase to foster kids and kids in need, whether it's backpacks and money. And so definitely for every purchase, that's hopefully coming soon that if you purchase a Dolce Globe product, a piece of the earnings will go towards that. So we're excited. So cool. And I think too, like giving your brand purpose like that, even for you, adds more longevity. 100%. Because at the other than the day, like it's everything else kind of. it gets old. It does. Like if that's the stuff that really, that's going to fulfill you. And I don't care to have a
Starting point is 01:05:56 bigger house. I don't care to have a bigger car. I don't care to have, you know, this or that. And it's like, I have my little nice car. I tell you, I drive it like once a week. Like I'm just, I want to live such a minimalist life and stick to my core and making sure my daughter goes to a great school. And we have family time together. And because life is so short. I totally. I love that perspective. I do have some rapid fire questions for you. Okay, so I have some quick rapid fire questions for you. This is just fun. Just to get to know more. Actually, just so you know, my team wrote these out. So if one of them is bad, don't play me. Okay. We got it. Okay, number one, you're stuck on a deserted island with one celebrity. Let's make it one celebrity that you've tanned. Who would it be?
Starting point is 01:06:40 You can't say Miley. Like, we know Miley. We love her too. Chrissy Tegan. Chrissy Tegan? Why? She is the most down-to-earth person I have ever met. And the way she makes you feel when you're in her life or circle, like, you literally feel like family. And not just that. The way she makes you feel like, I feel like it would be, we would just be cracking up the entire time. Like, it would be Chrissy Teigen 100%. I've heard that she's like, go.
Starting point is 01:07:05 Oh, my God. She's the best person ever. And I love her. Cool. Number two, you can only use one Dolce Glow product for the rest of your life. Which would it be? Our daltry self-taining mist. Self-taining, the clear one?
Starting point is 01:07:17 The bronzer. The bronzer. I need a little color guide. Yeah. Love that. Who is your dream client? I'm so grateful to have worked with such amazing, amazing people, but I definitely am dying to work with, you know, Ariana Grande one day, Taylor Swift. Selina, by the way, I would say going back to your other question, it would either be Chrissy Teagan or Selena.
Starting point is 01:07:44 No, Selena, you can tell us. I actually had lunch with the Rare Beauty Team yesterday. Oh my gosh. And they were just raving about how real she is. The best person. I think she would be like the most calming person to be on an island with. And I think we could just like lay out. You might need to be calm on an island.
Starting point is 01:07:59 Selena is incredible. I love that. What has been your greatest accomplishment? Being a mom. I see. It's so good. And it's the truth. It's so good.
Starting point is 01:08:12 And being able to change the way I was brought up. and being able to be the mom that I always dreamed of having. Oh, that is so sweet. It's a truth. Well, your daughter is very lucky to have you. Thank you. What's one thing you regret? Let's see.
Starting point is 01:08:37 One thing I regret. You know, I think initially is the lack of knowledge that I had in, you know, whether it was like, packaging or creating products or, you know, not reading more, like just learning that first before I, like, dived into it to where, like, we had to go back and, like, change stuff. I would think that that's, like, one of the best things is, like, always do your research. I understand that stuff first. But one thing I also regret is going back to, I think, the first few years as I was building this brand.
Starting point is 01:09:16 I have a little guilt that I was so focused on building this brand that I did. didn't pay attention to core moments when, like, my daughter, like, not that I was ever a bad mom or anything, but I just, I just feel like I missed out on a little bit of time. And so, because I was moving so fast, so now I'm really about taking more vacations, spending more family time. And my team knows that and they've seen a big change because I'm delegating more to them to where it's like, I can't do this tan. Like, I need to go to my daughter's chair practice. So being present with both my daughter and my husband is where I'm at today. And I think if I could take that back, you know, I could, I would is like spending more time. And obviously we're all hustling and
Starting point is 01:10:02 building in business. But I definitely felt like I lost a little time there. Yeah. I, I totally relate to that. And I feel like, you know, you can't be good at everything at the same time. It's either like I'm a really good wife at that time. I'm really good at my business or I'm a really great mom. but it's so hard to be really good at everything at the same time. Yeah. But I definitely feel those seasons where I'm just like, okay, I'm working too much or maybe I'm not working enough. And it's just like they're seasons, you know? And I think too, the one thing that I will say, my mom, you know, worked a lot. My parents worked a lot growing up. But like I never regret. I never like looked at them like, oh, man, they're working too hard. They don't care about me. I know that they were out there hustling for me. Oh, Mia is literally the proudest little girl.
Starting point is 01:10:47 Like, she runs around, like, her school and she's like, my mom's, my mom's this, my mom's that. And, like, you know, I went to Stormy's birthday party. And she's like she did. And she's like, you know, it's a totally different life that, like, we weren't brought up. But, like, she is so proud. And, you know, I take her with me, too. And I want her to realize that, like, shit's not handed to you. Like, I will literally take her on my spray tan appointments if I don't have anyone to help or my husband's dizzy. I take her. I have her carry the kid in. I, I take her. I have her carry the kid in. I. I have her open the kid. I have her plug in the machine. Like, she needs to understand that, like, shit's not handed to you. And I always want to give her a better life, but I definitely don't want my daughter to grow up thinking that, like, everything is going to be happy. Like, I want her to know what it is to work hard for that dollar and that this is why mommy works so hard to give her a good life.
Starting point is 01:11:38 But I also want her to grow up to always being humble and, you know, please and thank you in good manners and treating people with respect and all people matter. and just being a good girl. And I think that, like, you know, having her and seeing mom work so much, like, works so much, but still having that, like, family balance is, like. It's inspiring. I've never been more balanced in my life than I am today. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:12:02 No, I love that. It is very inspiring to have a mom that's just going after it, but still has those values. Let's see. Who is your last celebrity that you have DM'd with or texted with? It says. Christy Teagan. Selena Gomez and yeah, Chrissy Teague and Selena Gomez. So funny.
Starting point is 01:12:21 They're so crazy. I'm just like, where are we right now? Like, what is happening? Trust me. I look at my phone. I'm like, oh, Miley texted me or actually Chloe yesterday wished her a happy birthday too. Oh, yeah. I saw that on your stories.
Starting point is 01:12:35 Okay, date night or go out. Or wait, date night in or go out? Oh, date night in. Yeah. Yes, for sure. Same. Would you rather, do you like text messages or phone calls? Please don't ever send me a long text message.
Starting point is 01:12:52 I will not read it. Yeah. Or a long email, I will not read it. Call me. Call you. Oh, yeah. I will not read it. If it's more than like four sentences long and email, I'm like, this needs a phone conversation.
Starting point is 01:13:03 Yeah, no, I agree with that. Like, I won't read it. Yeah. So. I love that. Okay. So now we know. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:13:08 We're going to call you. Exactly. Yes. Or send it to Bailey because I will not read it. Yeah. Last one, what is one thing you couldn't live without? One thing I couldn't live without. Well, food, it's pasta.
Starting point is 01:13:24 Ooh, yum. Favorite L.A. restaurant? Favorite L.A. restaurant. Well, I would say, God, it's that new one in Santa Clarita. I can't think of the name of it because I just drive there. Do you remember the name of a Tacharia? Anyways, great restaurant. It's Italian.
Starting point is 01:13:40 It's so great. And they're actually, they fly in everything from Italy and the most authentic Italian restaurant. Love that. I'm not a fan of like the bougie restaurants. Like, don't, like, I don't need to go to like catch. I don't need to go to like Boa and Astros. I'm like, I'm like a chill girl. Chill.
Starting point is 01:13:56 Give me like a California role. Like, I'm good with that, you know. But anything I obviously can't live without my damn family or my friend. Yes, of course. I, you know, had a friend yesterday. Unfortunately, her husband passed away. and it just really, again, just put things in perspective that, like, life is so short. And nothing else matters.
Starting point is 01:14:19 Not the money, not the business, nothing. Like, having those moments with your family and friends are, like, the most, like, you have to do it. You're even, like, you're speaking to me because we were trying to figure out if we're going to take this family vacation. Or it's a short trip this weekend. But it's also a lot of work, too, to plan and whatever. And, but I'm like, you're so right. Like, it's just about taking those. If there's three or four days that we can, you know, get away and just have those us, just be us for. It's, that's what it's all about. That's why we work so hard. We just did that. We just got back from Hawaii and it was literally us three. And it was the best time. And it was the most relaxing vacation we've had. And I was like, I need to do more of this. Like, you can save all the money in the world, but you can't take it with you. And I think, you. You know, it's now we're in a great place to where it's like you have to do those vacate case. You have to take that time for yourself for your family.
Starting point is 01:15:17 Like, you know, if I'm not giving that to my family and myself, like, nothing that I'm doing is like worth it. Like nothing else is more important. Well, this has been like truly so amazing. I am so excited for everyone to hear your story. And I just like I genuinely like truly respect you so much. Thank you. Not only as a business person, a mom, office. a wife, but just who you are. It's like people like you are like who I want in my circle.
Starting point is 01:15:46 And I want, you know, on my podcast. And yeah. And same for you though. And like for taking this time to like want to interview me and giving me this opportunity to be on such an incredible podcast because I know you're killing it. Oh my gosh. It's sweet. And I truly feel like good things happen in good people. And you spread more love and peace and you're a good person. You want the best for other people. Like you're going to be, you know, I, truly feel like I'm so grateful to be on and I feel the same way for you and I feel so connected and I just love you just being so authentic and so real and I always tell Bailey I'm like this is why she does so well because people want more real they want more authentic they want more fresh
Starting point is 01:16:28 and they want sincere influence and that's why I feel like people like you are always going to win oh that was very encouraging thank you so much you got this girl we got this Yes. Okay, so where can people find you on social media? Where can people find DolceGlo products? So my personal handle is about Lisa.
