De-Influenced with Dani + Jordan - Would You Pay $6,500 to Get Your Baby to Sleep?

Episode Date: September 3, 2026

Would you pay $6,500 to get your baby to sleep? Because apparently… that’s an option. 😂 This week, Dani and Jordan debate whether they’re desperate enough to hire a three-day baby sleep tra...iner — and somehow that turns into a much bigger conversation about all the things parents are told they need to be doing for their kids. Plus, Jordan officially becomes THAT dad at 4-year-old soccer, Dani survives her first workout back, and a missing credit card sparks a marriage argument. Then they get into the internet debate around Forrest Frank’s viral shirtless photo and whether there’s a double standard when it comes to modesty for men and women. Later, things get a little deeper as Dani and Jordan unpack cessationism vs. continuationism, spiritual gifts, speaking in tongues, healing, modern-day prophets and discernment. Dani shares how growing up in a charismatic church shaped the way she approaches faith today — including one question she still wrestles with: Is it the Holy Spirit… or is it the music? And because no De-Influenced episode is complete without a rabbit hole, Jordan found data on where single people should actually live if they want to get married… and apparently your ZIP code might matter more than you think. Basically: sleep-deprived parents, soccer dads, internet debates, spiritual gifts and dating statistics. A very normal week over here. Starting point is 00:00:00 The following podcast is a dear media production. Hello and welcome back to your favorite podcast, D-implienced. First workout class back. I know, it's been a long time. I did probably one or two workouts in Dallas right when I was approved in my garage, and then I never went back. And I filmed the whole thing and I posted, I said, this is my first workout back and it was my first and last.
Starting point is 00:00:33 So I technically have not worked out in about, let's see, probably almost a year. No, no, eight months, eight months. You were working out a little bit. No, and I didn't work out towards the end of my pregnancy either. You didn't? No, so, I mean, it might be a year, which is the longest I've ever taken off. Yeah, but your V-O-2 max is genetically sound. No, and that's what I would have thought too.
Starting point is 00:00:57 And I did this workout this morning with Bridget, and it was humbling. I really need to start working out every day if I ever want to be like just average again. No, no, don't know. No, I know I promise you every single I could not I couldn't do the workout without the weight and everybody was doing the workout with weights and I couldn't even do the movements without the weights. Yeah. What kind of movements are we talking? Um, like everything. They really do everything. It was full body day. So that's why they did everything. But usually each day, Bridget was telling me they focus on something. So I'd be like, arms today was full body yeah and then there's a two minute ab workout and yeah it was brutal the first three minutes I was like hmm I'm killing this and then six minutes in I was really struggling and they do stations and so the nice thing about the stations is is you only have to go through the stations once I really I hate that impending doom whenever you're doing a war like stations for a workout and you know you have to go through the stations three times because you're like, oh my gosh, I'm on this, this workout, but I know I have to do this again.
Starting point is 00:02:06 It's just a horrible feeling. It's equivalent to the Sunday scleries, I would say. For sure. You know, it is very similar. Yeah, when you just know, oh, I'm only like halfway there. I have to do this all over again. So I like when my workouts, everything is fresh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:20 You do it once and then you're done to move on to the next thing. Like, don't go back and do it. Don't go back. Really? Yeah, you can do the same muscle group, but do a different movement. Interesting. Because it just kind of kills me knowing that I have to, I'm suffering through something I know I have to do it again.
Starting point is 00:02:34 Yeah, and like you knew the first one is hard. So the second one. Well, I'm in the first one thinking, wow, I have to do three more sets of this. Yeah, it's just suppressing. It's like, why do I even keep going? I think overall you're going to feel really good. No, I know. I need to start working out.
Starting point is 00:02:48 I think your energy, it's kind of like, I feel like your energy is going to start spiking. No, I know. I know. I do this is going to happen. I'm sorry. I don't mean to lecture you, Miss Kinesiology, Mary. No, and trust me, I know. You don't have to tell me.
Starting point is 00:03:01 It's, it's, it's like, you, you know, it's the same thing. Like, you know you should go to bed early, but you just don't do it. You just don't do it. You just don't do it. It's just discipline, really. I know. With you, too, I feel like your discipline compounds so fast. Like when you're in something, you're in it.
Starting point is 00:03:18 I told Bridget, like, sign me up. I'm going to get a membership. I'll be here next Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Thursday, Friday. It's like, I'm, and that's the thing is I knew whenever I jumped in, I was going to dive head in first, especially when it comes to working out. Right. And, but you know, I was kind of just enjoying my break, my hiatus, you know. I do notice, though, when I don't work out, I don't eat as much because anxiety makes me
Starting point is 00:03:41 lose my appetite. So I notice whenever I work out, I, everything in my day just starts to probably work better. I start to eat three meals. For sure. You probably feel less anxious. I can fall asleep at night, feel less anxious, more energy. It's just, it's just science. And I knew.
Starting point is 00:03:59 I knew. I just wanted to live. in the misery for a little bit, you know? Yeah, for sure. It was just so comfortable. It was just so comfortable down there. I know. So I'm back and I knew I would be.
Starting point is 00:04:09 The nice thing was when I was jumping, I actually decided I was going to be like, quote, unquote, back about three months ago when I decided I was going to start running again. And so I went on my first run and my uterus felt like it was going to fall out of my body. So I decided, I'm just going to stay in my misery for a little bit longer. So the good news was, When I was jumping today, I didn't feel anything down there. Oh, that's great.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Yeah. So that's making me feel like, oh, I can do this, conquer the world. Those workout classes kind of scare me. Really? The nice thing is nobody, because you know, it is intimidating because you feel like, oh, everyone's going to be staring at me and they're going to be comparing. Everyone's just doing their own thing. Everyone's doing their own thing.
Starting point is 00:04:51 Is it a big spot, though? Yeah. Or is it kind of tight quarters? No, it's a big spot. No one's looking at you. Yeah. It's such a hard workout that everybody's struggling through it themselves. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:01 You know, and I didn't do any of the weights. Like, I was the only person that didn't do weights out of everyone. And nobody looked at me once. In fact, I was like, I like a little attention here. You know, I haven't been to one of these spots in a while, and I would just like a little attention. It's like you wanting your stalker. Yeah. I'd like someone to acknowledge me.
Starting point is 00:05:22 So, yeah, we're thinking about Monday. We want the husbands to come. Okay. I think I'll like it. I'll for sure come. I would love that. My week's very clear next week. A couple of big things.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Speaking of just working out, Forrest Frank shirtless picture. Oh, have we not discussed that? No, we haven't discussed it. Oh, that's such a good topic for the podcast. It is because it's a pretty complicated one. Very nuanced. I see kind of both sides of the argument.
Starting point is 00:05:52 Well, first of all, we had to, he didn't post the shirtless selfie. Are we sure we haven't talked about this? We have not talked about it. Okay. So Corey, I don't know if it's Ashbury or Asbury. Yeah, we're, whatever. Whatever. Let's just say Ashbury because Aspery sounds a little weird.
Starting point is 00:06:12 So Corey Ashbury posted, you know, Forrest Frank and his little crew, they're always taking content without their shirts on. Whether it's an Instagram story or somebody else's real, a TikTok here and there, they're always working out being Callie Boys without their shirts on. very that's kind of the culture right i think he lives out in arizona or something you know they all skateboard with no shirts on like yeah it's just kind of the no he i think the culture on tour is that he brought this guy was the name dylan yes he's like basically a personal trainer right and he brought him on tour and so i think it was kind of like mind body spirit rejuvenation on the tour and um it dylan is clearly like training all of them which is great Which is awesome.
Starting point is 00:06:59 I love that because it keeps them out of trouble. They're not out there drinking going to bars. They're going on tour. They're going to bed early. They're eating healthy. And then they're working out. So from a manly role model perspective, I like that. I would like my son to look up to someone like Forrest Frank and Dylan and all those people and be like, oh, cool.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Taking care of myself is cool. So from a role model perspective, I like it. And that's why I never had a problem with it. Okay. So as a mother to boys, you're pro the picture? Yes. Okay. And I feel like that's what Forrest Frank is so good at is being a role model to all these kids
Starting point is 00:07:43 because he makes cool music. He makes a bop. He makes music for like Stratton to listen to in the backseaty rock car and dance and be excited about. Same with Stella. But like he's making fun beats and fun music that doesn't have every other cuss word, you know, every other word being a cuss word. So, and then not only that, you go to his tour and he's like, he's praising Jesus on stage and bringing out passers. So for my kids, I like what he's doing.
Starting point is 00:08:09 Okay, now play this role. Let's say I was on tour with Force Frank and I looked like that. So I was like clearly progressing in my physique and I was in that picture. How would you have felt? Well, first of all, Corey Ashbury posted the picture on his feet. No, for sure. And he's 40. Yeah, and I don't, he has kids and everything. And there is a part of me that I would be like, who you're trying to impress. Right.
Starting point is 00:08:38 You'd feel like a little, it would be the equivalent for me. It'd be the equivalent of like if you were with like a bunch of girls, even if they were Christian girls. Taking bikini picks? Yeah. And it's like, it's like, huh. Like, but not just like bikini picks like, oh, we're having fun. Like we're just mom's day out.
Starting point is 00:08:55 But it was like kind of like, like, like, you're just. y'all were like flexing and kind of showing off a little bit type of thing. Yeah. I'd be like, man, I haven't seen you in a long time. Mm-hmm. You know, that's kind of odd. Like, I wouldn't have felt honored by that. You know?
Starting point is 00:09:12 Really? Would you? You don't want me to post bikini pics? No, no, I don't care if you post- With my girlfriends? No, no, I don't care if you post bikini picks. I think that where- You just said you do care.
Starting point is 00:09:24 Um. Like, if I was on a girl's trip right now with a brand and we took like really cute bikini pictures on the beach, you wouldn't. No, I guess I wouldn't care. I know. I was like, that's so not like you to say that. I guess I wouldn't care at all. I think that we're guys struggle with this picture. And also, we're kind of different because we're so secure in our marriage.
Starting point is 00:09:46 For sure. If I was out there trying to like going out every night and, and that's the thing is you have to look at the whole context of the situation. If I was with all these amazing women, we're waking up early, we're working out, we're reading our Bible, we're sharing the gospel all throughout the day. And then we're out on the beach and we're proud and we're like in our cute bikinis and take like a fun picture and post it. I can see it. I can see it. You can see what? Yeah, I can see why it's not, it's harmless.
Starting point is 00:10:15 I know. Babe, the fact that you even said that you wouldn't feel honored by that, I feel like you're trying to be something that you're not. No, no. You wouldn't care at all. No, I think that what I'm, I think what guys are struggling with is like, um, the, or women are saying there's a double standard. No, I think that I just, I feel like it's hard for me to understand like as a guy, why that pick would have been taken and posted on the internet.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Because like I just, it's just my style too. And like, you know, I guess like if I was with a bunch of friends and we just finished a hard workout class. And you had a six pack. Yeah, and we had a six pack. And it was like, we were really proud
Starting point is 00:11:00 and we kind of were feeling super good. You know, you got all that tish dash in, and run to your bones. And also like we like feel like we're like doing the Lord's work. You know, I guess,
Starting point is 00:11:10 okay, I guess I could see how it's harmless. It's a 50-50 one. It's a complicated picture. Here's the thing about Forrest Frank is I think that what makes it complicated is his audience is so diverse. So you have little kids looking up to him.
Starting point is 00:11:23 and for my four-year-old, five-year-old kids, looking up to someone like that, that is taking care of his mind, body, soul, I like that. Now, then you also have maybe these high school college girls that are lusting after Forrest Frank. So then you, because he has such a wide demo, you know, that he's not just, you know what I mean? He's influencing a lot of people.
Starting point is 00:11:47 And so I could see how the Christian college girls are, like, offended because they're single. They're like, we can't take bikini pictures and post them because then we look like slats. But then you're out there and you're taking, you know, shirtless selfies. I think it's different for us because we're so secure in our marriage. And whether we're posting bikini pictures with six packs or not, we're going to love each other, come back to each other. We're not out there trying to get attention from people like that.
Starting point is 00:12:16 But for that demographic, and I think that's who was the most offended, we're single female. they're like, this isn't fair. We can't take thirst traps and post those online because that's not being modest. And that's not okay in Christian culture. But then all the guys can do it. That's not cool. And so I see that side of it too. I just, for me, what I like about Forrest Frank is how he influences my kids.
Starting point is 00:12:41 And I want Stratton to be like, oh, I can take care of myself. I can, you know, go an on tour and go out and be surrounded by like, God. deadly men and take care of our bodies and be proud of our bodies and, you know, and share the gospel at the same time and have fun. And, you know, I think, too, is not to be like this girl, but, you know, I know everybody wants to slap like double standard. Like to me, for an older man doing that, like, like personally, it just gives me kind of the ick. Like, I'm just like, why? Why are you doing that? You know, but is there something wrong with it? I don't know if there's something inherently wrong with it. I'm just like, dude, like, it's kind of ick, you know? It's just like
Starting point is 00:13:26 who's the tension are you trying to get? But you have to, like, just scientifically, men are way more horny than females. You know, so I know that we're not, you know, it's not fair a day and have a double standard, but you have to admit, and like I know because I live with a man, like you can walk by them with no makeup on, smell disgusting, and they're like turned on. Like, do you know how much it takes for me to get turned on? Like just scientifically, biologically, I think that men struggle with that a lot more. Now, I'm not saying that women don't, but I'm just saying overall, you know? Which is why I was so surprising that most of the hate came from like women saying we're lusting after this. But here's the thing. I was, I literally had to ask me,
Starting point is 00:14:10 I'm going to be honest. I was like, is that how your lust works? I mean, okay, so there probably are some women that are like, oh my gosh, I'm lusting after Coy, Ashbury and Forest Frank. But I'm telling you, I think those women are more so just upset that like men can take hot pictures and they can't. Really? You think that? A hundred percent. So it's like, oh, it's cool. So you're not a slat whenever you do that. But like if I do anything, I get called out about, because do you know how much like Christian girls probably get called out about modesty? Oh, for sure. It's probably so annoying to them. And so then they're like, well, look at Forrest Frank. He's shirtless with his six pack. I don't think that they're actually
Starting point is 00:14:50 like lusting after him. Do you know what I'm saying? It's like that's so weird for a female to be lusting after like a married man with kids. I mean, sorry, that probably happened all the time. I don't know. I don't know. That's what I'm saying us. I'm like I don't know. This is just, it's a hard topic but Well, you took it down. Corey did. Yeah, he took the picture down. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:12 It is kind of just he's trying to impress. I feel like that guy's always getting in trouble on the internet. I feel like he's always getting in trouble. People are like, okay, just keep on. Hey, Corey, just keep on apologizing. You're doing great. Oh, really? I mean, I don't really know who he is or anything,
Starting point is 00:15:28 but I feel like he just is like constantly on an apology tour. Yeah, but I think it's because he's willing to apologize. I think we could all be on an apology tour 24-7 with the amount of commentary the internet has these days. And he's just willing to apologize. Yeah. I'm definitely a routine person. I feel my best when I'm getting up,
Starting point is 00:15:47 getting some sunlight, moving my body, working out, and actually paying attention to what I'm putting into my body. The problem is the second I travel, that routine can go completely out the window, and that's one of the reasons I've been loving Kachava, especially their travel packs. Kachava is an all-in-one nutrition shake, and the travel packs make it ridiculously easy to take with you. I can literally throw a couple packets in my bag on the way out the door, and I have something easy to reach for whether it's I'm at the airport, at a hotel, or just having one of those days where I'm constantly on the go. Each packet has plant-based protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, greens, probiotics, omegas, electrolytes, and more. For me, it's just an easy way to help fill some of the
Starting point is 00:16:30 nutritional gaps and keep my wellness routine consistent, even when my schedule doesn't allow it. I also like having it around my workouts because you're getting protein and electrolytes to help fuel and replenish your muscles. And most importantly, it actually tastes good. They have six flavors, including chocolate, vanilla, chai, chai, macha, coconut, assay, and strawberry. There are no artificial flavors, colors, or sweeteners, and no soy, gluten, and animal products or preservatives. Convenient nutrition that I can actually stick with wherever I am. Take your daily ritual with you. Go to kachava.com and use code Danny Austin for 15% off your first order. That's kuchava. A A-C-H-A-V-A dot com, code Danny Austin.
Starting point is 00:17:18 Okay, you guys already know how I feel about Cozy Earth. We have loved their bedding for years. Their sheets are a staple in our house. I take my sleep very seriously, so this is saying a lot. But what I feel like I haven't talked about enough is their apparel. Because apparently, Cozy Earth can make me never want to leave my bed and never want to change on my clothes. I've been loving their first layer set.
Starting point is 00:17:39 It is so good. You know when you put something on and immediately, you're like, oh yeah, I'm wearing this all day. That's how this feels. It's incredibly soft and smooth. There's nothing scratchy or stiff and it's lightweight enough that I can actually lounge around in it it and without it getting too hot. And I love a matching set because it makes you look like you've tried when you absolutely did not. I can wear it around the house, throw it on for a cozy night and then somehow I'm still wearing it the next morning because I just don't want to take it off. I feel like that's what cozy earth does so well. Whether it's their bedding or their apparel,
Starting point is 00:18:10 everything just feels elevated and luxurious while still being something you actually want to live in. And you can try for yourself knowing they offer easy returns and exchanges. Plus, Cozy Earth stands behind what they make with a warranty against manufacturing defects. Head to CozyEarth.com and treat yourself to your own first layer set. And this part matters. After you place your order, you'll see a quick survey asking how you heard about Cozy Earth. Please let them know how you heard about it here on De-Influence Podcasts. That's how they know that I sent you. So don't skip it.
Starting point is 00:18:43 Okay, back to school season is here. And one thing I did not expect as a parent is how quickly your kids start having very strong opinions about what they want to wear. You go into school thinking they're one kid. And somehow, by the time school starts, they've grown three inches, nothing fits. And they've decided they have an entirely new style. And honestly, I kind of love watching it happen because you see their personality starting to just really come out. I remember that feeling as a kid too. There's something about going back to school where your first day outfit feels like a really big deal.
Starting point is 00:19:13 It's a new class, new friends, a new year. You want to walk in feeling good about yourself. That's why Ross is such a great stop for back to school shopping. They have clothes for everyone, kids, school supplies, dorm room decorations, basically all of those things that you're suddenly realizing you need before the first day. And back to school shopping adds up fast, especially when you're trying to get everybody ready at once. So being able to walk into one place, knock out a bunch of the list, and still find things that kids are actually excited about is a win for me. And when your kids are still figuring out what they like, Ross makes it easy to help them explore different styles without you, stressing over every single thing that they put in their cart.
Starting point is 00:19:54 You can find styles for everything this school year has in store at 20 to 60% off retailers' prices. So whether your kid is walking into a brand new classroom or somehow came out of something, summer with an entirely new personality and wardrobe. Ross is a great place to start. Find your nearest Ross at Ross Stores.com. Speaking of physique and athleticism, how are we feeling about Little League Soccer? Well, we started it and we're not going to stop until the end of the year. No, I understand. But do you think that most parents go home, like, especially like Stratton's age, where they're like,
Starting point is 00:20:32 what are we doing? No, it's a horrible. It's a horrible thing to do. weird thing to do. It's horrible. I'm not going to lie. It's Saturday morning. You're there at 8 a.m. And you just watch your kid do nothing. 90% of the kids want to do nothing. And the mosquitoes are bad. The mosquitoes are bad. And I'm sitting here and I'm like, I don't really know how to parent in this situation. Like, do I push him harder? But think about if your kid was out there scoring goals. No, there was one kid. It was like, a prodigy. No, I know. And think about those parents. I, listen, this is maybe a,
Starting point is 00:21:06 a controversial topic, but I think they should have tryouts for Little League sports. You're so right. And if your kid is not interested, you shouldn't be guilty. You shouldn't make it, honestly. You shouldn't make it. You shouldn't make it. And that's just that's just like them saving your family from just the torment of sitting there. Because here's another thing.
Starting point is 00:21:27 They say, we're doing it for the community. We're doing for. No. My kids don't want to be there at all with nobody. They don't want to talk to your kids. They just want to sit on the sidelines and get it over when they go home and get a popsicle. They want the snacks.
Starting point is 00:21:41 They want the gatorade because we don't do gatorade at home. They want the gatorade and the snacks. I really think we should do tryouts. And we should teach them young that, hey, if you're not good enough, you're not going to make it in life. Honestly, I really have struggled with this because I even asked Chachibati or Claude. I was like, hey, how am I supposed to parent in this situation? Because I felt like- You were going a little hard.
Starting point is 00:22:05 I was actually kind of embarrassed to be sitting next to you at the soccer game last Saturday. Jordan was that dad. I was kind of shocked because Jordan hasn't played a sport in his life. Okay. And I played every sport known to mankind. And he was so rough on Stratton and was like was not giving up. You were the dad on the side then that was like pulling him on. Like Stratton, your team is relying on you.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Get out there. There's only four men. There's like, they need someone. else on defense get out there stratton and shot and be like no i don't want to i tired and then stratton would go out there and like actually try and you'd pull them off again and be like stratton you didn't even touch the ball come on stratton like you know it was crazy well okay it was kind of existential for me because i i am stratton stratton and i are the same right we are the same as children and I just never really had an interest in sports like at that age and I'm like should I
Starting point is 00:23:06 Stratten says he wants to play every sport no I know and honestly he did great I did also just see I wasn't better than Stella no I wasn't always hard on him I did say good job when he was doing a good job but like I really wanted him to like push himself because I think and I don't know I think I wanted I wish I would have been pushed harder maybe true okay I see that but then I struggle because I think that like they probably my parents did probably try and push me harder and I just didn't have it like I didn't have that like the the grit that grit and like the um and there's a ton of kids on the sideline that didn't have it and so here's the thing just because they don't have it at four doesn't mean they don't get it at seven no for sure because I was like that where I was not competitive
Starting point is 00:23:49 whatsoever did not care and then when I got into middle school I was extremely competitive I know and I don't want to ruin that for him. You know? So like I was like, okay, it was, I almost like did like a post-mortem. I was like, okay, should I have pushed him harder? Should I push him left hard? And you really, what science says. Participation.
Starting point is 00:24:11 Is participation. And like the best thing to do is like get in the car and say nothing unless they bring it up or just say like a lightly good job because I think shame is so sensitive when it comes to like comparison and other sports. And I know that because I was an athlete. And that's why I was treating him differently than you were treating him because the way you were treating him would have made me feel sick to my stomach for the rest of the day. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Because I would have felt like my parents were disappointed in me. So what I did was anytime he, he did something good. I praised him for it. But if he didn't, if he did something bad, I didn't say anything at all. But okay, fair. But the counterpoint is like if I am Stratton and I, I think really think I like I remember being so in my own head in sports like that I really probably could have done more if I would have just gotten out of my own head. And so I was I feel like I was trying to to show him that he could do it.
Starting point is 00:25:10 It's kind of like everything was Stratton. You have to push him to a certain point and like then he proves to himself he can do something, putting on his shoes or like putting on his shirt. And then he's proud that he can do it. So I agree with that. But what I would do for that situation is, and this is what I was doing, I was saying, hey, Stratten, just try to kick the ball one time this next time. Just try to touch it with your foot one time. And that was his one goal.
Starting point is 00:25:36 And so, because right now he's just running around with the kids. Like, he's not even really trying to touch the ball. Right. So he has a goal that he's going after instead of being like, try to get in there, be aggressive, go score a goal. What does that really mean for a four-year-old? To me, I was like, hey, just run with the kids and tap the ball. ball.
Starting point is 00:25:54 Try to touch the ball. Like incrementally just like little goals. And so that's my thing when I talked to him. I'm like, just go try to kick the ball. Just go touch it. You don't have to score a goal. You don't have to be aggressive. You don't have to do this and this and this and this. Just go try to touch it with your foot and see what happens. Yeah. And so then when he does that
Starting point is 00:26:11 which it could take him all season to just do that one thing. But that's the one thing that I'm going to keep on telling him. And so my first goal was for him to just get out in the field. So and then I was shocked. He did. My second goal was going to be just run with the ball, run with the kids. And he did that just naturally.
Starting point is 00:26:29 So I got to skip to the third goal, which is just touch the ball with your foot. Yeah, no. You get it. You did it right. It was the first game, though. We can always improve. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, but I do think there should be tryouts.
Starting point is 00:26:44 No, I know. I'm not opposed. I think that, you know, I was just really impressed with Stratton. So Stella's in soccer and then cross-country, but she's loving cross-country. She loves cross country. Yeah. Independent sport. Does not like soccer.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Does not like soccer. It's okay though. Every kid has to do it. We try it every year. We try it every year. You know. I'm kind of bummed. I didn't know they had flag football here.
Starting point is 00:27:07 I know. We should have done that. You know it's so crazy. She's got her first cross-country meet coming up next week. Oh, that's going to be awesome. So cool. I'm so excited. How far do they run?
Starting point is 00:27:18 Is it a 100 meter dash? I don't know. What is it? A whole lap? 400? I have no idea. There's no way they're making kindergartners run a whole lap. I mean...
Starting point is 00:27:29 That's so crazy. Private school, you know. You never know. You never know. What else is going on with you? You're getting into embroidery, yes? Oh, yeah. So I kind of like...
Starting point is 00:27:43 I really did it with this one. You did it. Yeah. So I randomly found this girl... Okay, no, see what actually happened was. all the kids at this school have their toots embroidered. So I went and bought patches at Michaels and just hot glued them on my kids' toots, but apparently embroidery is the way to go.
Starting point is 00:28:05 Now, I don't really know where to take these tots to be embroidered in Nashville, especially because I need a quick turnaround because school's already started. So I can't be dropping off the bags for a week because my kids need the bags. So I looked at on Instagram and I found this mom. that embroider is at home and I reached out to her. Which little do you all know? That's literally Danny's dream for her retirement. Yeah, I was like one day I'm going to just embroider stuff and just sell it to my neighbors.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Yeah, she doesn't want it. Not a big business. I'm not going to post it online or anything. It's just going to be local community. Just local community. Yeah, just on my street. And so she does this like as a side gig or maybe it's her full time thing. And I reached out to her.
Starting point is 00:28:49 I got this set up. I was so excited. So my friend Bridget. got an embroidering machine for her birthday. Her husband gave it to her. So she's been trying to have somebody, she's like always on her stories saying, hey, can somebody come over and help me with this?
Starting point is 00:29:02 She has a brother 700. It's a lost heart. No one knows how to embroider. And so she has the brother 700 machine. And this other girl's got like the brother 7,000. You know, I don't know. But, no, it's like the brother 4,600 or something. So I'm like, Bridget, I think I may know a gal.
Starting point is 00:29:21 So I put us in a group chat. This other girl's name is Emma. And I'm like Bridget, Emma, y'all meet. I was like, Emma, you wouldn't happen to do embroidery classes, would you? So next Wednesday, we're going over to Emma's house, who I've never met. And we're doing embroidery classes. So this could be the start of something new. Something huge.
Starting point is 00:29:40 Something huge. You're never going to hear this podcast again or see Danny on Instagram ever again. She's just going to be embroidering for her neighbors. Well, it's, these, these machines are, are expensive. Guess how much these machines are? I'm gonna. I would guess. How much, like, is like, have you seen her Instagram, like those big?
Starting point is 00:30:00 Are you talking about the 700 or 3,000? Um, so, so, uh, Brasier has the brother E 700. I think that's probably like $900. Um, and I think the $7,000 is probably like $2,100. I see. So I could be wrong, but I feel like the brother, like the big ones are over five grand. No, no reaction. Are you checking?
Starting point is 00:30:32 Let me see. Brother. Big, big brother. Improdery machine. Oh, wow. 13,000. What? Yeah, I told you.
Starting point is 00:30:50 This is not. This is why rich people embroider stuff. Have you ever noticed that? they're always important. They're always importing everything. Yeah, I know. Those machines are... Pillow cases, towels.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Everything. That's why embroidery is such a... It's such an art. It's so novel. It's so... I never knew it was a flex, though. No, yeah, it is. It's kind of a flex.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Well, to embroider something, you either have to have done it yourself or spend the time and thought about it and actually found an embroidering like somebody that can do it and gotten it done. Like it's such a process. That's why these moms that had embroidered these totes,
Starting point is 00:31:27 like I thought I was going to be good enough just going to Michael's and hot gluing the patches on there. You did great. I know, but like, babe, not good enough. What? There was another level. There was another level. And I got there and they all were embroidered.
Starting point is 00:31:41 All of them. All the kids had embroidery. So it's like, my, my gosh. I'm like, oh my gosh. I'm like, idiot, idiot, idiot. She's like, my, my things are falling off with the hot glue. Well, they did. They fell off.
Starting point is 00:31:52 They all fell off. And so, so yeah, but that's why it's so special to get things in forderers because these machines are outrageous. And not only that, they take up a lot of space. Yeah. And they're very complicated. They're like little mini computers. I'm just going to say it here. We're going to move into our new house.
Starting point is 00:32:11 And Danny's going to be like, listen, I need your office because I need my embroidery machine. Well, that's why I'm kind of happy that we don't have too much of a plan for that catwalk. Because I'm thinking it should be a craft room. Oh, that's a good idea. Yeah. And so that's why I was saying maybe it's good that we don't finish that room out and just kind of feel it out and see what Stella gets into. I mean, that's where Shred and I can do our Legos for sure.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Totally. We don't have a Lego room right now. No, I know. We've both been talking about it. I know. And I don't have an embroidery room. And, you know, I used to scrapbook. I used to be a big scrapbooker.
Starting point is 00:32:46 You could also put it in the second story of your closet. The only thing is I have to put shoes in there. Hmm. Do you see they finish that out? Put walls to it? The upstairs? Yeah. My closet.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Oh, I didn't see the upstairs. Yeah. Dang. The other. I'll have to drive by again today. We'll be there again. I'll be there every day. The thing about us driving by is we're not sneaky because we drive by in that green van.
Starting point is 00:33:12 So they always know and we drive by daily. So all the workers are like, she's their back. Yeah. And it's not about like cracking the whip or anything. We just happy to be there. have time to kill. Okay, I feel like I'm officially at the point in my life where I refuse to choose between shoes being cute and shoes being comfortable. I need both. That's exactly why Vionic caught my attention. Their whole thing is creating shoes that are actually supportive and comfortable,
Starting point is 00:33:39 but still look like something you genuinely want to wear. One of the styles I especially love is the Alameda Mary Jane flat. Mary Janes are so cute right now. I love that these feel really classic and elevated without being too dressy. I could totally see myself wearing them during the day with jeans and a cute top to the office traveling and then wearing the exact same pair with a dress for date night. I also feel like a Mary Jane is one of those shoes that instantly makes a really simple outfit look more put together. But what really sets them apart is what's actually happening inside the shoe. The Alameda has an adjustable strap so you can get the fit just right, plus a footbed that's biomechanically designed for comfort and support while you're moving around.
Starting point is 00:34:23 They even include two different insoles so you can customize the fit based on what feels best for your foot. And Vionic uses their exclusive biomotion technology to create that support while still making shoes that feel stylish, which is exactly what I want. Give me the cute shoe that I can actually feel good wearing all day. Use code de-impliance at checkout for 15% off your entire order at www. Vionics Shoes.com. Starting point is 00:34:53 Vionic Shoes, wearable well-being for your feet. I feel like the older I get, the more I want fewer things in my closet that I actually love and wear all the time. I don't need another sweater that I wear once and then forget about. I want the pieces that I'm constantly reaching for.
Starting point is 00:35:08 Quince has become one of my favorite places for exactly that. I love their cashmere oversized sweater. It is truly such a staple in my closet it because I can wear it with literally anything. During the day, I'll throw it on with jeans and leggings and sneakers and it feels super casual and easy. But then you can pair it with trousers, a skirt or dress it up with jewelry and suddenly it works for dinner or a date night too. And the quality is unmatched. That's the thing I always notice with quince.
Starting point is 00:35:35 Pieces feel really elevated and luxurious, but you're not paying that crazy luxury price tag. Their 100% Mongolian cashmere sweaters actually start at just $50 and quince also has premium stretched leather bags and shoes, 14-carat gold jewelry, washable silk, basically all of those classic pieces that you can keep in your closet and wear over and over again. Everything in Quince is priced 50 to 80% less than similar brands because they work directly with ethical factories and cut out the middlemen. So you're paying for the quality, not the brand market. Here's your reminder to do something that takes about 30 seconds but is very easy to forget about. Check your voter registration. I'm partnering with app vote to provide voter resources nationwide. I feel like voter registration is one of those things you can assume
Starting point is 00:36:42 is just taken care of. You're like, yeah, I'm registered. I'm good. But when you move, change your address, change your name, or maybe you just haven't voted in a while, and suddenly you're actually not sure everything is up to date. And apparently, a lot of people are in that vote. Only about 70% of eligible Americans are registered, and as many as one in four people either aren't registered or aren't sure. So rather than waiting until election day is right around the corner to figure it out, you can literally take about 30 seconds and check your registration now. At vote is a resource that makes it really easy.
Starting point is 00:37:13 You can check your registration, get registered, sign up for election reminders, and stay informed about upcoming voter registration deadlines and the voting rules in your state. And look, this isn't about telling you who to vote for. That's your decision. It's about making sure when the time comes, you've done the basic stuff ahead of time and you're actually ready to participate. 30 seconds now can save you from realizing later that there's something you needed to update. Use the links in my show notes to check your registration, get registered, or receive a letter. reflection reminders. You can also vote online or at vote on Instagram for more information. Man, we should talk about school pickups and drop-offs.
Starting point is 00:37:53 Yeah, honestly. Now that we're going to a legit school with different, like so many grades, it is insane. No, it's a whole thing. The amount of time that we spend in the car a day. It's a lot. It's a lot. And we, I wish that Stella could take the bus, but. I, I never thought like, dream. Dropping our kids off to school and taking them to school is like one of the greatest joys of my life.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Oh my God. It's so I think about it like every day. I'm like, I am so grateful to be able to do this. Are you going to cry? No. Are you? No. No, it's genuinely.
Starting point is 00:38:32 So I park and I walk them in most days. Yeah. And they do like the flag thing. Did you say for a flag? No, I didn't say today because they just started it today. and I didn't know. I'm also really tired today because Smith doesn't sleep. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:38:48 Because I was up when I was up. No, I was up all night. Well, I was up all morning. He, like, literally kept, like, rolling over on me and pushing me off the bed. He weighs, like, 15 pounds. No, but I'm, like, so worried about, you know, crushing him that. No, he's at that stage now where you go and touch him. He makes, he's so loud.
Starting point is 00:39:12 that you're you're not gonna smush him no I know he's not like he's not like an infant anymore he's giving us a lot of problems but um no they started flag and so you can go any day that is so sweet it's awesome I don't like pickup though I'm just gonna say it oh well you just said you liked both no I don't like I like drop off I don't like pickup pickup is very complicated oh so funny I've only done well I've done drop off and pickup but Yeah. Yeah, no, I'm not a big fan of pickup. I might have you to pick up.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Oh, because pickup you have to go to two places. You got to go to two places. It takes way longer, you know, like I like sending them off in the day. And then, you know, we all kind of like go do our own things. And then it's like, you know, I see them back at home. But yeah, I love our life's here. Oh, me too. It's so great.
Starting point is 00:40:05 So great. I was sitting on like the front porch. Uh-huh. Like at like one o'clock, you know, had a little break. And I was, I took a nap. And you came and sat next to me. We were sitting on our porch watching the cars go by. This is what normal people do.
Starting point is 00:40:21 I know. I was like, this is what life looks like when you're not grinding 24-7. Yeah. Speaking of Smith not sleeping, do you want to tell them what you proposed to me that I immediately shot down? You have to tell them how much it was. No. Yes, do it.
Starting point is 00:40:38 Why? I'm going to get a bunch of hate. Who cares? Be honest. We don't care. Do you guys want the truth or do you want us to not tell the truth because we're scared we're going to get hate? So just we're going to tell the truth and then don't give us hate. Well, so, well, I don't know if we should say it because I might still do it.
Starting point is 00:40:53 First of all, I won't let you. Yeah, you might. No, I won't. You might. If this persists. No, I'll explain why. I won't. You can tell them.
Starting point is 00:41:01 Okay. Well, so we've been looking out, we've been looking for sleep trainers and just like looking into anything to get Smith sleeping because y'all, he's not even close. Like he had two good nights where he slept in. night and then now he and we were like oh it's fixed and now he sleeps he wakes up every other hour and he also doesn't like really nap very long during the day he's a very confusing child so okay i found someone well no we've been looking for a lot of people yes i basically put it on blast that like we needed a sleep trainer and then there was this lady who travels around and she does like
Starting point is 00:41:34 baby sleep training boot camps where she'll come for like three days and like put them through Tell them how much it was. It was $6,500. Y'all, six. But it was negotiable probably. $1,500 without travel. Without trouble. So Jordan is so desperate.
Starting point is 00:41:51 He's like, should we do this? And I was like, I'm going to vomit, number one, no. And here's what they're going to do, because we've done this with Stratton. We've done intents with Stratton before. They work with them for three days. Yes, maybe they're working with them every single hour of the day. Great. What is that hourly rate, number one?
Starting point is 00:42:08 number two they still leave you with all the work after they're like this is what i've done for three days now you have to go do this and so really like they're not just fixing the situation now if they literally could be there for three days and fix the whole situation for $6,000 she had a 99% hit rate yeah if you do what she says to do she's going to be there the whole time for three days then what happens on the fourth day he's going to wake up throughout the night he's changed. So he's fixed in three days. I don't believe it. If he actually is and then we just literally put him to bed at seven and then wake him up at seven in the morning, okay, fine. Maybe it's worth it. But no, that's not how it works. Do you feel like I'm not saying that this
Starting point is 00:42:54 service is. I don't know anything out of this. Are you going to ask if they're predatory? Totally. I 100%. Like, listen, the biggest difference in our lifestyle like Nashville to Dallas is we had we had our kids in like everything in Dallas like ballet speech therapy tutoring Spanish etc and when you put your kids into so many things you kind of lose track of like all the things going on you know and so I was constantly like Danny I feel like we shouldn't do this anymore and then we we moved and we kind of had to like reset now we're like layering things back on but I think a lot of it's predatory like I'm like it's like everyone it's like everyone wants to be a good parent and it's such an easy sell to parents to be like this is what I can do to help your child
Starting point is 00:43:40 because Stella wants to do Girl Scouts she wants to do gym she wants to do all these things and they're not all predatory great great example like and I think that this is like a New York Times article youth sports right now can be predatory oh my god stop using that word it's a little aggressive it's aggressive but it's like it's like basically sucking like everyone's talking right now and we're not at this age, like travel sports have become so expensive. Okay, then don't do them. Why is everybody so sensitive?
Starting point is 00:44:10 What do you mean? I just don't understand. Like, if you don't want to do travel sports, then don't do it. What if your kid is really good at travel sports? The reason I say predatory is because it's an easy pitch to say to a parent, like, hey, I want to make your kid into something. And so you should pay this service to do it. And let's let him go smoke weed with the kids down the street.
Starting point is 00:44:32 We're talking about two different things. we're not it's like you put your kids into stuff to help them grow to help them develop to keep them out of trouble a lot of times i agree babe but like what i'm saying is that it can become so much because it's an easy pitch to a parent to say hey okay then just do some of them you need to spend money on this no things are not predatory it's just that parents are weak okay danny's on one no she's been on one for like four days i have not. I'm supposed to start my period today. That's why. But I does him so, I'm I'm supposed to start today. What's the 29th? 28th? Yeah. There was something you got mad at me about.
Starting point is 00:45:18 No, you got mad about something. Cats. I was trying to get a cat. He's so like against cats right now. Guys, she found this dog that was hit by a car named Lola. And I saved her life. saved her life. We had to keep that dog for eight years. You were like, listen, we're just going to rejuvenate her. She's probably going to pass away soon. And that dog peed all over our house for eight years. Oh, you know, somebody who left a really mean comment and was not a really mean comment. But first of all, they were like, well, this is what happens when you don't let a dog out. And that was like, guys, you don't understand Lola. Lola, we would let Lola out and she would come in and pee. Yeah, no, she felt she was blind.
Starting point is 00:46:04 So she probably thought the rug was grass Like she was blind and deaf had no idea what was going on like peed everywhere like it was she got sick sweet Lola I love Lola I know I bet I've asked you Lola before we were married No, I I understand I know I know Lola was was my first love for you I know Lola was in my wedding you know we should talk about happened to you this week Wait I feel like I'm not done with this other conversation What about use sports? No, use sports, predatory,
Starting point is 00:46:43 on one. Oh, what else we were fighting about? What were we fighting about the other day? The pool fence. I don't even want to go down that. Makes me sick. That was one. You want to tell them? You tell them.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Well, Danny wants to get, have a pool cover. Danny wants to get a pool fence. Very reasonable. Okay. Yes. But I've told, I told you about six weeks ago. She's been asking. I said that's your job because I'm doing some other stuff and you get the pool fence. Yes. And so Danny had this idea that because they're building our house right now, they needed to prep the pool for a pool fence. And I didn't know how long it was going to take to install and order the pool fence. And I'm not moving into our house until we have a pool fence. And we're moving in December. And it is September. Okay, I'm just saying maybe they're really backed up. And school started.
Starting point is 00:47:40 So what Danny was really mad at is that I wasn't prioritizing the pool fence the way that she saw prioritizing the pool fence. My mindset was we're not moving in until December, potentially January. Because you keep on asking about the landscaping in the backyard. And I'm like, you can't decide landscaping until we know the design of the pool fence. No, that does. Yes, it does. The pool fence is permanent. And we don't want to put trees in.
Starting point is 00:48:05 plants and grass in places where the pool fence is going to go. And do we want the pool fence to go all the way to the back of the brick? Or do we want the pool fence? Like, it needs to be incorporated into the design of the landscaping. I'm right. Babe, I'm always right. Okay. So what Danny believed was that they were going to not do the pool right because you had to, like,
Starting point is 00:48:26 drill holes before they were done building and we would close on a house and then had to, like, do it backwards. Or that they would landscape it in a weird way. They didn't make sense for a fence. Yeah, and so I called the builder and no, so we were in the car and I was like, hey, every day for like the past two weeks, I'm like, every other day, the past two weeks, every third day, I'm like. No, when it, when you think about it. Yeah, which is probably three times a week. And I'm like, hey, pull fence.
Starting point is 00:48:55 And he's like, yeah, yeah, I got it. I got it. So this is six weeks later and we're in the car and I'm like, yeah, did you ever talk to him about the pull fence? And he's like, no. And then I was angry. And I go, she got so angry at me. And like, I usually just kind of like, I like know what's going on right now. Hormonally.
Starting point is 00:49:15 So I'm like, I let it roll off. But I said, gosh, Danny. You said, oh my gosh, geez. Jeez, Danny. And then we didn't talk the whole way home. And then you apologize towards the end. And then I went to the gym. And then I called the builder.
Starting point is 00:49:30 And he was like, yeah, you just put the full fence in. You don't need me to do anything. And then I texted you that. And then you said, what pool fence company are you going to use? Yeah, because you haven't reached out to any. So that was one thing. And then this was just horrible timing.
Starting point is 00:49:47 But Danny was like, you took my credit card. And I was like, I didn't take your credit card. No, Jordan takes my credit card every day, my personal one. So I always have to use the business card on things
Starting point is 00:49:56 I'm not supposed to use the business card. And I was already on thin ice. And I was like, I definitely don't have your credit card. And then she was like, go check. check the car and prove to me you don't have the credit card and then it was he's like Danny I definitely don't and then it was in the car and then I had to I always try and like come up with someone
Starting point is 00:50:12 else to blame but this one I had no one to blame and I just knew you walked away with just such sense of justice on that one no I don't and then I don't do that I don't walk away being like it was right I didn't have that I honestly just want my credit card back and then you had asked me to turn down the air last night oh gosh he's so annoying and I totally forgot to do it No, he, you, this is the thing that I fear is happening in our marriage is, you know, when our, your kids are talking and asking you to do something whenever you're driving and you're focused on something else. And they're like, mom, mom, mom, mom, can you roll down the window? And you just ignore them because you just know it's their voice and you're just not listening
Starting point is 00:50:52 right now. That's me with you. When I talk, you know it's my voice. So you just don't listen. And I know that's been happening a lot more lately. But I knew, here's the thing about the temperature of the house in our room. I know. I know. And I never heard the air crank. And so I knew. I knew.
Starting point is 00:51:16 And I was really like, seriously? Seriously. It's just like, I do think I, it's not that I'm not listening to you. I think I just don't take what you say that. seriously the last week of every month because no no no it's not trust me it's not because this is this is what I call the no win week like I'm not going to do a lot of things right in this week for you I did door dash ice cream to our house last night at like 830 yeah and you did get up and get me that but here's what Jordan would typically do he'd give me the ice cream
Starting point is 00:51:53 with no spoon every time every time you'd be like here it is babe I got it for you and I'd be like oh that's so sweet thank you so much and then at the end of the day there'd be no spoon or napkin yeah no there's a this is yeah it's it's it's a hard week it's a hard week well we're almost through it we're almost through it um i can i was gonna talk i was gonna ask uh there's something that big that happened with you this week yeah part of your identity no danny became a sensationist It's not it's a cessation C cessationist Cessianist
Starting point is 00:52:36 No Secessionist is like We're seceding from the Cessationist You're right I'm a cessationist I'm like I want Tennessee to leave the U.S.
Starting point is 00:52:51 Yes So there is cessationism And continuationism Very difficult words very very I don't think I'll ever get it right I don't think I'll ever I'll always be a successinist and I'll be a concessionist but I'll never be a sensationist I don't know if I said this last episode but I do want to like give a little bit of context the thing about and sorry if
Starting point is 00:53:18 I've said this before the thing about being in Tennessee in Nashville and specifically Franklin is that everyone's a Christian okay and so because everyone's a Christian we and everyone's pretty theologically sound, we now start majoring in the minors. So it's like, oh, I don't go to this church because they're continuationist or this cessationist or whatever. And so we just go to church in Dallas,
Starting point is 00:53:44 but now it's like, oh, we've got to pick some more explicit factions here. I think that's easy for you to say because you weren't raised in an extremely charismatic church. Fair. So I was raised in a very, very charismatic church. every Sunday speaking in tongues slain by the spirit um like that's just the what I was raised in like every Saturday every Sunday I'm going up there trying to be raised get my eyesight or healed I mean
Starting point is 00:54:13 not raised raised raised from foot in get my eyes healed because I didn't want to wear glasses um never did so I have a different perspective on I feel like spiritual gifts and the maybe not the whole Spirit, but let me just describe what cessationists and continuationists are. So basically, they both believe in miracles. They both believe that God can heal. God can perform miracles. God is, the Holy Spirit can do whatever, you know. But continuationists believe that those gifts of prophecy speaking in tongues healing continue to this day. So they didn't just happen in the appellationation. apostolic, apostolic times, like with Jesus Apostles, but they happen to this day. So there can be someone that has the gift of healing or there can be someone that has the gift of speaking in tongues.
Starting point is 00:55:12 And I was raised in a church like that and I've always been taught to believe that. I've always read scripture that, you know, somewhat supports that. There's like Bethel that like really believes in this. So isn't that in like really pruning your gifts. seeking those spiritual gifts. I actually wrote this down. So you can actually look up the scripture if you want to read it. People that are continuationists look to 1st Corinthians 12. And you have to remember, this is when Paul is speaking to the Church of Corinth.
Starting point is 00:55:46 And you can read what he says there. First Corinthians 12, he says, oh, hold on, I want the summary, Gemini. Okay. Okay. It says, okay, for as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many are one body, so also is Christ. For by one spirit, we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves are free and have all been made to drink into one spirit. for in fact the body is not one member but many. Is that what they point to?
Starting point is 00:56:32 It's not a big good weeder. Is that what they point to? No, there should be more about describing the gifts of the spirit. You said first Corinthians 12th? Yeah, but it's that whole chapter. Maybe just do a little. It should describe the actual gifts of the spirit. Like the gifts of the spirit.
Starting point is 00:56:49 Oh, there are diversities of gifts, but the same spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. and there are diversities of activity, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the spirit is given to each one for the prophet of all. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the spirit, to another the word of knowledge, to the same spirit, to another faith by the same spirit,
Starting point is 00:57:13 to another gifts of healings by the same spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues. Yeah, so this is what he's saying to the Church of Corinth. So people are like, okay, is he just saying that to the Church of Corinth, like back then? Because that's when miracles were happening. And Jesus did give his apostles or the Holy Spirit, like, did give his people certain spiritual gifts.
Starting point is 00:57:40 Or is it applying that to like us today too? Like does that word continue or did it end when Jesus? Miss dating a question. Yeah. So my question is, when do we believe the apostolic period ended? I guess with... If you're a sensationalist.
Starting point is 00:58:00 I would say with the apostles. So when the apostles died, got it. So, okay. Then there are cessationists, which this, it's so funny because when it comes to Christianity, this is the one thing.
Starting point is 00:58:18 You know for sure I've always been hung up on. This is like the one. thing that I like when people say God told me that I was supposed to do this or do that or when people like believe a certain prophecy and then it doesn't come true like but they are so convicted about it and they preach on it and then something ends up happening so their prophecy isn't true it's not accurate or when people are speaking in tongues but nobody's translating when when people garner the Holy Spirit but then it it kind of doesn't end up working out for them. They use the Holy Spirit for their own will. No, but no, that's not even
Starting point is 00:58:58 what it is. Like, I genuinely think that they believe that God is telling them something. And I don't think they're doing it from like a bad place. Like I think they're maybe even trying to practice their gift, their gifts of healing or speaking in tongues. But I think what happens is that sometimes in their practicing, they end up kind of hurting the validity of the Holy Spirit or Christianity for like for like people that are confused. But that's why it does say in scripture, no matter who is prophesying to you, no matter who is,
Starting point is 00:59:30 unless it's Jesus Christ himself, if anyone ever gives you a word, if anybody ever, you always test it. Like you're never ever supposed to just take a word and be like, oh, and like even if it's like the most amazing pastor at your church, you're always supposed to test it, pray about it,
Starting point is 00:59:45 look at scripture, does it align with scripture? To me, what I've always been like, is like, okay, if God is giving us like the word and he's giving us the Bible and that's like what we can always rely on, why are we listening to these people that are a lot of times wrong end up being wrong. And so really? So I'm always like the Bible is and all be all for me. And so and I want to believe these people. But because I just know that people have always disappointed and there's like always people
Starting point is 01:00:16 that are living in sin and sometimes people that are living in sin that are giving prophetic word, it's so hard for me to believe that the Holy Spirit is truly genuinely like giving them these gifts. Like it's just hard for me to believe. It's not that I don't believe it. I just am so skeptical that like when people, it's almost even hard for me when people are like, God told me that I was supposed to marry this guy. It kind of makes me want to roll my eyes a little bit because I have seen some of the most sinful people say that. And I'm like, I don't think that, like, for me, if you are like achieving the gifts of the spirit,
Starting point is 01:00:55 I think you are literally in the word every single day. Like you are so deep in scripture and so deep in trying to pursue like how God wants you to live. And then like these fruits, like these spirits and these gifts like start working through you. So I do believe it can happen. But I just don't believe that it happens as much as like we give credit to these days. And so I've always struggled with that. And we go to this church in Nashville and like Jordan brings up that there's this, this church that teaches their cessationist.
Starting point is 01:01:24 And like he starts talking and I'm like, oh my God, I think I'm a cessationist. Like I've never put a word to it and I've never met a community of Christians that believe this like I do. Like I always felt like I was like the one on the outside being like, oh, just because somebody said that God told them that we just believe everybody. It's like I've always been, I feel like on the outskirts of it. and so cessationists they believe that that certain those like okay says cetaceous generally believe certain miraculous or sign gifts ceased after the apostolic age so they don't believe that god just stopped doing miracles at all because they do believe that god can heal they believe that you know god can perform miracles the holy spirit everything
Starting point is 01:02:12 the disagreement is whether individual christians still possessed those gifts like tongues healing prophecy in the same sense that the apostles did here's another thing that i have a really hard time with is it's the same thing that happened it happens a lot what i've experienced with uh who's the head pastor at bethel uh you know what i'm talking about yeah the head pastor bethel yeah when miraculous healing in gifts and prophecy and tongues are spoken and things are done but it doesn't after they happen, it doesn't prove that Jesus is real and that Jesus, or like the scripture is real or it doesn't point back to Jesus. To me, I'm like, what's the point?
Starting point is 01:02:56 Why would be, why would God be giving you that word that you're supposed to marry this guy when that guy's not even a Christian and doesn't even point back to Jesus? And you see that stuff all the time with Christians. Yeah, that might be more like Christian culture. Christian culture or like, it's like God told me I was supposed to move here. And because he did, I got this job. And now I'm happy. I just don't believe that's how it works.
Starting point is 01:03:26 Okay. A couple clarifying questions. So do you, so, okay, so God really did tell me, like I'm 1,000% confident a year ago. like when I came here, just me, I was like, we're supposed to be here. And it wasn't like God like whispered in my ear and I heard it. It was like this overwhelming sense of peace. And it was like, and I remember the reason I tell this story is because I had no idea how we were going to get here. Like you were so not on the same page and like all these things.
Starting point is 01:04:01 And I was like, man, it is going to have to be an act of God alone if you are calling me to get here. but it forced me to be like, all right, like, I'm surrendered to it, but like you have to work. So that to me, I don't say that happens a lot, though. Like I'm not like every day being like, God told me this, Danny or God told me this. It might be like little whispers here. Yeah. And just so you know, when I was bringing that example, I wasn't talking about you. No, I know.
Starting point is 01:04:25 I know. But like, I know you weren't. But what I'm trying to figure out is like, does that mean that I wouldn't be a sensationist? Or are you saying that like God can speak like that? to people, do you know what I'm asking? Like, like, that's not prophecy. I didn't say, hey, I had this prophetic dream, Danny, that we were supposed to be here. It was just, like, sort of this, like, gentle nudge calling.
Starting point is 01:04:51 I do think that Christians overuse that a lot. Yeah, because I think that only you would know, because you would have to discern in your heart, is it because is this going to prove that God is real? and that like that God, that it's affirming the authority of Christ. And like he wants us to move here because he has a mission or because he is going to like draw us near to him or there is something. It has something to do with our relationship with Christ. Not just to move here because we're going to be happier.
Starting point is 01:05:23 You know what I'm saying? There's like that distinction. And so when people are like, I'm going to move here because God told me to them to be happier, I'm like, I don't think that that's why God would speak to someone. I don't think that God is going to speak to them. So what I'm asking you, though, is like, is because I feel like God spoke to me, would you say, no, he didn't because you're a sensationist? No, no. Okay, so it's different.
Starting point is 01:05:44 Yeah, it's not as black and white as, and you can also be a very, it's a spectrum. Like, you can be a very cautious continuationist. Okay, that's what I am. Yeah, a very cautious continuationist where you're like. I'm a conservative continuation. Yes, yes. And I would say, I'm a Lucy Goosey cessationist. Yeah, like, so you err on the side of skeptics.
Starting point is 01:06:05 So we're both kind of in the middle, just on different sides of the middle. Like, your middle left and middle right. Yes. Exactly. And so. So the big thing about this, though, is as a sensation is, just summarize it really quick. You believe what? Like, how do you live your day-to-day life?
Starting point is 01:06:27 Like, I just think that. Do you think God talks to you? I think that I like through scripture. Okay, but like what about like the Holy Spirit like speaking to your like giving me peace about an idea. Yeah, yeah. Okay, okay. So that you believe in where does that leave you with like spiritual warfare? No, they definitely believe cessationists.
Starting point is 01:06:53 We definitely, we like I've been this for a day. I'm like we definitely believe. Definitely believe in like spiritual warfare or deliver. Okay. So what you're out on is like... But anyone can like deliver. Like we all have access to God. Right. But what you would say is like John over here who calls himself a healer. Yeah. Or Sally who says that she's a prophet, you're kind of like... No, I'm definitely not that lady that's blowing up saying she's a prophet.
Starting point is 01:07:28 Okay. I might be left of sinner too then. Yeah, no, I don't know, like, because, you know, apostles and prophets are different. Yeah. One is following Jesus and one has been told what to do by Jesus. I've never seen a miraculous healing by an individual. I've seen God heal people and God deliver people. Exactly. That's exactly what I feel.
Starting point is 01:07:55 So, yes, I would pray for healing, but I believe God is going to heal them. Oh, that's all we're talking about? Yeah. We're talking about individuals having gifts, whereas Bethel would say, no, because you're a kid. Okay, great example, college. I told you this story before, but like three or four girls all started doing home church. And then they all got slain in the spirit or baptizing the spirit is what they called. And then they all started harnessing these gifts.
Starting point is 01:08:21 I remember sitting in a room and them trying to teach me the gifts and like I couldn't do it. And I was like, try harder. Kind of. Yeah. Like it was like kind of like try harder or like it became like you aren't open in the faith to a certain degree and it was very like confusing I don't know where they sit today. I haven't talked to them in years, but like but I would say that it really got wrapped up in a lot of emotion right and it was very very hundred percent very confusing and that's what I I am so scared of is because I can feel so much when a song comes comes on is it the Holy Spirit is it the music is
Starting point is 01:09:00 the vibrations, like, I don't know. And maybe God really is present in that. But, like, I think it takes a lot of discernment, a lot of time in Scripture. Like, I think there's so many Christians that are so reliant on the feelings and the emotions, but they don't know anything about Scripture. So they can't discern if those, if what God is telling them is even accurate. And it says in the Bible that if anybody ever gives you a word, if you ever, like, anything, even speaking in tongues, there should always be a translator, all this stuff.
Starting point is 01:09:27 And to me, that scares me so much. that I would rather be like a little conservative so that I can discern than just like throw myself into like these emotions. Yeah. I was talking to this this deliverance minister person and what she had said was like the number one most important thing for the church right now is discernment. Oh yeah. And the gift of discernment and being able to discern. But how do you how do you discern? I mean she would have she would have probably said what you said, she would have said through scripture. Exactly.
Starting point is 01:10:03 Does it, does it match scripture? So I think God speaks to us through scripture. I don't think that God needs to speak through us through speaking in tongues or this or that. Like, I think that that's why God gave us the scripture. Yeah, but I think that like the more that you know the scripture, I think that the more it becomes part of your like almost unconscious. And so I think that that helps the gift of discernment. So when you hear something, you kind of have all this stuff.
Starting point is 01:10:27 You're like, so this doesn't feel right. Yeah. Yeah. You like know what feels right. and what feels wrong. And so she kind of spoke of discernment like it was a skill. And I agree with her in that sense. It's like the more that you, you know, agree with it.
Starting point is 01:10:40 So cool. So we're both, I don't know, I kind of like this conservative continuationist thing. Yeah. So I'm a little bit more open minded. Yes. Than you. And I think the reason why you're open minded is you haven't been manipulated and burnt the way that I.
Starting point is 01:11:00 I was, like, it was my whole. Yeah. And I wouldn't say burnt. I wasn't like burnt, but like, they never hurt me. And I never, like, I wouldn't not go to that church. I think that church was actually amazing. Right. It was just confusing.
Starting point is 01:11:15 Right. Like, it was just really confusing. And then it just made my faith very, like, even more confusing. And it's almost like I started, like, my faith started at the top. And so it never, like, built its way up, like, gradually. It was like, go heel squirrel. in the side of the road and then it's like that doesn't happen therefore you question everything when i feel like it would have been helpful to like build my faith up gradually yeah like go from step one
Starting point is 01:11:41 is step two so three and i started like step 10 and it was like one of the the things that i think is most dangerous about like christian culture is like when you use it for like the idea of being christian famous you know like this idea of like using christianity as a launch pad kind of for your own narcissism you know it's like oh like I want to be seen as this like healer spiritually and it's so subtle like you don't even probably know you're doing it most of the time well okay so the whole reason this actually really have you heard that that huge prophet girl prophet kim i've seen it kind of but i don't i don't know like details baby it's like crazy kim no not kim clement duh is she still blown up yes yeah we'll see in an
Starting point is 01:12:30 an HBO documentary soon. Oh my gosh, what is her name? Is there a way you can find it for me? Anyway, is this girl and she's blowing up all over Instagram and all the things. And she is calling herself a prophet and has like, does all these crazy healings. And people, okay, this is a great example. Yeah. It's like being saved without repenting.
Starting point is 01:13:00 Doesn't the Bible say whenever you want to be saved, you have to repent? Yes. Right. So it's like when Bethel, whatever that guy, the pastor is, remember when he was like, he talked about those feathers falling from an airplane and everybody just started getting saved? No, I didn't know that, but that's wild. So he tells these crazy stories about like the supernatural happening and he tells this story how he was on an airplane. The pilot's like it was a bird strike. I don't know what to tell him.
Starting point is 01:13:30 Yeah. And he tells us these crazy stories about his during praise and worship like this like. gold dust falling from the ceiling and everybody just started getting saved, that you, if you look at the scripture, which that sounds beautiful and it would be amazing. And if you felt that with the music and all this, it's like, oh my gosh, that's, and people are dropping the floor and they're like, I'm saved. But if you look at the scripture, which is actually the word that God gave us and you know that and you discern through scripture, you don't get saved unless you repent and you ask and
Starting point is 01:14:02 you believe that Jesus died for our sins and was a son of God and you repent, right? So there's steps that God says that we have to take in order to be saved. And he never said gold dust falling from the ceiling would get you saved. So this girl, this prophet on Instagram that she's claiming to be a prophet. And the reason why she's going viral is she had like a book signing. And people are being slain, quote unquote slain in the Holy Spirit by just, getting like 10 feet from her. Like they are walking and they like have a book and they just start getting
Starting point is 01:14:39 slain by the Holy Spirit or they start, she claims to also be a healer, I believe and they're like healed instantly just because they're in her presence. I'm listening. I'm looking to me. And to me, what I believe about the supernatural and the Holy Spirit is that it's all to prove that Jesus is has authority and that Jesus is the one that saves, not the prophet.
Starting point is 01:14:59 Does that make sense? Not like this girl. And so everything that's happening is not like biblically sound. It doesn't back up with scripture. Hello. Yeah, I was looking up because I think I thought like in the Bible like demons did the same thing. Yeah, probably. Like they were typically associated with causing physical afflictions and or deceptive or counterfeit signs.
Starting point is 01:15:30 No, exactly. And so these people can be. I'm not saying they're demonic. Like she thinks that she's doing. Yeah, the New Testament warns that false prophets and demonic agents can also perform false signs and wonders. Well, anything that's getting in the way of believing that Jesus is doing that. Yeah, no, that's crazy. That's crazy business.
Starting point is 01:15:47 No, I know. That's like them trying to touch her clothes. You got to see this video. Yeah, no, that's honestly how she acts. Oh, she, she's like owning it? No, yes. She's, it's crazy. I wish you could see this video.
Starting point is 01:15:59 Uh-huh. She has these, like, meet and greets where she has, like, like honestly it might be i mean it's hundreds of people sitting in line just to meet her that's crazy but she truly is like god told her to do this she's a prophet she says let's anyway we'll move on yeah we can move on the only last thing that's kind of related is um that happened to you this week is uh you admitted that you don't think lindsay clancy did it or sorry you admitted that you do believe that Lindsay Clancy did yeah i think a lot of the points that were being thrown out there
Starting point is 01:16:37 about her husband doing it would have been very convincing if they were all accurate but a lot of them are not accurate like a lot of the things that people are saying oh like he smushed up the like why would she smushed up pills
Starting point is 01:16:52 like he was drugging her I'm like I don't know it makes sense that she was smushed pills to kill herself like that's not that crazy or people are saying oh he's the one that Googled about the artery or like no shit
Starting point is 01:17:05 She googled it. And even though she's a nurse, like, she's probably just, like, wanted to see what it looked like or something before, you know? And the biggest thing that got me is she's claiming to be not guilty because she was going through psychosis, but you don't go through psychosis for 18 minutes. You go through psychosis. It could be two, three weeks, four weeks, five weeks. You and people, I hung out with a therapist that told me she's, she's dealt with a lot of, like, females going through postpartum psychosis. They're, like, crazy. Like, they, like, they, believe that they, she told me that this one girl believed that she was like her family was living in a water bottle. Like she was like, she was like if you're, if you're going through psychosis, there would be signs. People would be like, this girl is crazy and we like need to like get her help. You wouldn't be sound enough to be like, send your kids, send your husband on a, you know, she was basically saying that what Lindsay was doing, she was in her right mind. Obviously she was mentally ill in some capacity because it's,
Starting point is 01:18:10 you know, but every murderer, every murderer says they heard a voice tell them to do it. Which is a demon. Yeah, totally. And so, um, so maybe it wasn't psychotic,
Starting point is 01:18:20 but it probably was. Yeah, she's mentally ill and demonic. There's something horrible going on there, but she was like, you know, and then when she was in the hospital, she never went through psychosis again.
Starting point is 01:18:32 and you know people are saying oh he got married three months later i think he started i don't he didn't get married three months later he recently got married but he started dating someone and yeah maybe he was having a fair maybe he's a horrible person maybe he's a horrible husband yes i'm sure he contributed to some of her bad mental health but he didn't he wasn't the one that like killed his kids and also this is the biggest thing why was the DNA why was only his DNA found on it the way that DNA testing DNA like works is like that's what they found on it that's not saying that her DNA wasn't sometimes they can't like find and their workout bands he was probably working out with him yeah like that's why his DNA is probably on there um and just because they don't find
Starting point is 01:19:19 he was like a marathon runner too yeah and just because they don't find the DNA on there doesn't mean that there wasn't it it just means that the science and the test didn't show it but that doesn't always mean that there wasn't on it there wasn't on it yeah at all. So I don't know. I just to me her her lawyer is so smart that you know that he knows every fact about this case. And if he truly thought that like Lindsay didn't do it, they would be going down that path right now claiming her like trying to prove her innocence. But everybody knows that she did it and her her lawyer does too. We are almost out of time but I did want to Oh, I had some other things I was going to talk about.
Starting point is 01:20:02 Oh, okay. I was going to talk about, oh, I wanted to talk about this good good commercial. Oh, no. Why? What else you got? Why? It's so interesting. It's just like, boring to me.
Starting point is 01:20:18 Oh, okay. I was going to talk about the Boeing documentary. Oh, I was, okay. What? What else you got? What's wrong with you? I just want to hear what else you got. Gosh.
Starting point is 01:20:29 Travis Barker's. Documentary? You want to hear about the Boeing documentary? Okay. Tell me about the Boeing documentary. Okay, fine. I won't. No, you obviously don't care.
Starting point is 01:20:41 You don't care. And I just, I'm not going to go there now. You know, but I will tell you all, good documentary about Boeing. Why do you don't want to know about it? I want to. I want to. No, but seriously, why do you not want to know? I think it's already come out.
Starting point is 01:20:56 Isn't this like a re-release of it or no? What do you think? about the boat what do you think Boeing happened they covered up a bunch of the failed health and safety protocols and then the 737 max like became the most unsafe plane and started crashing and then there were like whistleblowers that died off oh yeah that's pretty much but there's but these issues that are happening do we fly on 737s now uh they grounded all the maxes and then i i think we still fly on max yeah so the crazy thing about these issues and like that we're still flying on these planes today babe these companies have so much power because if they cut if they shut down aviation our economy
Starting point is 01:21:41 collapses but babe like they're literally not putting bolts into the doors no i know these are the most protected companies in the world no but i'm not saying for these companies i'm saying for our safety no i know like you ever look at it and see if we're flying on a 737? A lot of people did and then I feel like they, I don't know if it was PR. Because what they were saying is these guys, these whistleblowers that are in the documentary are saying that the issues are not going to be like, no, basically it's going to take like five or ten years for each one to like kind of show what the issue was because
Starting point is 01:22:18 it's like the constant vibration of this bull and like one day the bolt is going to fall off and then it's just going to. So anyway, what can you do? What can you do? I wonder, yeah. What are we going to do? Just not go to Costa Rica, not go to Disney? I don't know, Viam.
Starting point is 01:22:40 I found, this is like the last positive bit of value. Okay. I wrote this down because I thought it would be beneficial. I always think about, like, the people who, we always talk about, like, the marriage crisis, like, no one's getting married. you know yeah and i follow this i follow a newsletter called the institute for family studies i think it's wow snoozer no it's really interesting because they write a lot about like faith and like culture and like what's going on oh that's cool marriage and stuff and they came out with this map and i think i should
Starting point is 01:23:11 share it with people it's called go get married.org oh where most single people are no it's so cool what they did so they basically ran like a statistical study on what are qualities that men are looking for and women are looking for. And like women these days like aren't looking for men to out earn them because they can't do that now. It's they're just looking for men that are full time employed. So you can toggle on this map the states that have the highest percentage of fully employed men. Can I guess? Um, yeah. States with fully employed. And then you can do like, here are all the things you can toggle. Percent of single people and it'll give you like all the states and like even like the zip codes of like where you could move and relocate for like single men or women.
Starting point is 01:23:57 Oh, I want to know what these seats are. Percentage of married, percented married in the past year, so that's like a high culture of marriage. So you can move there. Interesting. Percentage of singles with a bachelor's degree or higher education,
Starting point is 01:24:11 percent of singles earning more than 60K. You can look at ratio single men per 100 single women. Those are hard states to. Wait, 100 men per one single. That's amazing. Uh, or you could look at,
Starting point is 01:24:23 um, religious adherence as percent of population. Oh, interesting. It's like literally, if you are having trouble getting married or finding a spouse, like your geography and environment matters substantially. Can I guess all these things? Yeah, which one do you want? Give me one of them again.
Starting point is 01:24:42 What about single men per 100 single women? You don't want to move there if you're a woman because that's high competition. Chicago, New York. Let's see. Boston. You can even do it by age, too, which is crazy. Washington, Boston, Chicago, New York. Yeah, I mean, yeah, you're right for sure.
Starting point is 01:25:13 Am I? Yeah. Chicago is so many single men, I feel like. Or men per female. Right. Right. It's honestly like the high, like finance places. The hard part about.
Starting point is 01:25:24 Wait, give me another one. I want to keep guessing. This is fun. Okay. What about percentage of singles? I mean, probably those same places, but if I had to, like, go outside of the Northeast, I would guess California, obviously. California is a lot, yeah.
Starting point is 01:25:43 But, okay, let's think outside of, like, northeast in California, because those are obvious. Florida? Florida, it depends on what county. Orlando has a lot of singles, Daytona Beach, Miami. It's like all singles. Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach. So that's the thing. It's going to tell you move to California.
Starting point is 01:26:06 Los Angeles, New York, and Miami. What was so interesting to me, this is just like the punchline is if you look at Dallas, so let's take the two people, the two places, all I heard from like the Divy team was like, it's so hard to find like a boyfriend or like someone who wants to make. There's so many females there. Every single one of these metrics showed that Dallas is literally the worst place to find like a spouse really for singles yeah and it's all female um it's a lot of high percentage of men to women it was even women to men high percentage of women to men women to men women to women yeah
Starting point is 01:26:43 you're right sorry um the other crazy thing is that when i looked at nashville both for marriage culture and for percentage of singles like super high probability you're going to get married in like the deep south area like Alabama, Tennessee. That's where people were getting married young. Getting married young, like adherence to family values. Like, it's all things that we generally know, but it is crazy to zoom in on like actual counties. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:27:17 Because like, you remember that that comedian girl we met that like had basically like gamified her hinge and she was like, I'm going to get married. And she like had this whole like crazy system. Yeah, she did. For like how she was going to find a spouse. And I'll tell you what the system was is she had very. specific, very, very specific requirements. But then the way she gamed it was she opened it to like all the big cities. So she would travel like she had the most niche criteria, which like in Dallas,
Starting point is 01:27:46 she's like there's only like two guys like that. But then she opened it to L.A. She opened it to Chicago. She opened. And she was willing to travel to go on these dates or have the guys travel to her. And so it really opened up instead of having two options in Dallas. Now she had 34 options across the country. Yeah. And so I feel like females like should look at this map if they're trying to find a spouse and men too. And it's just a brilliant, it's a brilliant thing that they did. And they released it because they were like trying to improve the amount of people getting married and starting to have kids young. It's genius. Interesting. It's so genius. I love it. I'm just telling you, if you want to get married, go to Chicago. I feel like there's so many men there. There's so many men there,
Starting point is 01:28:29 But you're saying there's not enough females there? There's not a lot of females in Chicago. There's a ton of young successful men. I've witnessed it myself. But there's a lot of young successful men in Dallas and these women have the same issue. No, there's not a lot of young successful because there's so many females. There's not a lot of females in Chicago. Look it up.
Starting point is 01:28:50 Look on your thing. Percentage of single females, right? There's not as men. There's a lot of single men in Chicago. that are successful. You're kind of... There's a lot of single women in Chicago, too. So I'm wrong.
Starting point is 01:29:11 Yeah. Okay. That's okay. 88%. I'm just telling if you go through the airport or if you walk through like the financial district and all that stuff there, there's a lot of young single men. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:29:23 Okay. Well, anyway. Okay. All right. We love you guys. Bye. Please note that this episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products and services. Individuals on the show may have a direct or indirect financial interest in products
