Welcome back to Couples Counseling with Chelsea. And I'm here with three of my friends. They are
not a couple. They're a throuple. and they're not romantically involved either there are three comedians named amina amani sydney washington and marie faustin and they are a
friendship throuple and i spent some time with emma whistler and heard a lot about their beef
so i thought i would bring them onto the podcast okay so in your experience with with your
relationship experience when do you think the best time to be brutally honest
with your good friends is?
All the time, or do you pick certain moments
to be brutally honest?
We gotta pick our moments.
You do?
Yeah, I gotta pick my moments.
Is that how you girls feel, Marie and Sydney?
I think that sometimes you gotta hit somebody
with the honest truth.
There's a right time to do it and a wrong time to do it.
And there's a right way to do it and a wrong way to do it. And there's a right way to do it and a wrong way to do it.
You know, don't do it in front of everybody all loud at brunch.
Don't drag me at brunch.
You know, maybe if it's just us and we're on FaceTime and we both have our face masks on, you could do it.
You could do it there when I'm wearing a, you know, a little Korean skincare mask.
But, you know, don't do it over my food.
That's crazy because me and Amina
are always being too honest at brunch.
I think that's our MO.
At brunch.
That's the relationship that y'all have.
Yeah.
Well, I feel like Maria's always brutally honest.
I feel like Sydney,
her honesty is different.
Like, she has a different language.
It has to be kind of translated, right?
Like she'll say something in her mind.
She said it and you'd be like,
you didn't say what you thought you said.
So I feel like that's...
And then now for me,
I've learned to only give my honesty
when it's asked of.
But y'all wouldn't agree.
I don't think I just throw my honesty on y'all.
Y'all got to call me for my honesty.
Marie, what you think?
Amina, you called me brutally honest and that's wild I think I'm honest but I don't think anything about my honesty
is brutal well I don't know if I would say brutal but like I feel like you're gonna be you're not
gonna sugarcoat it when I say brutal I mean like you're not gonna say how do I think this person
would take this I feel like you would just say it how you say it that's what I mean by brutally honest well Marie you're pretty brutal you're pretty
brutal if you if somebody shows you like who they did you're like oh oh oh that that oh okay
right or she'll be like oh my god what you got on yeah they're like so they wore that they wore that with you oh that couldn't be me
couldn't be me that's cute for you yeah no amina i think that you're very honest see how i didn't
use the word brutal very demure um i think you're very honest but you also know how to articulate
what you mean and why you why you feel how you feel so I think that that's that's good right
yeah I think that's a good that's a good trait I feel like in in the sense of us being honest
with each other we've gotten to that moment where we've had to like intervene right so like I had a
mental breakdown y'all came and got me Sydney had like her apartment all in disarray we came and
pulled up to her apartment got it fixed together you know Marie was down a little bit vibrating
low we came and picked her up so I feel like at those moments we're like sis we see you and and we're here
yeah what were you gonna say Sadie I said yeah no we went to go you know pick Marie up and then
I got COVID but that was great I you know it was worth it it was worth it I wouldn't take it
back any other way I want it that way actually Me and Marie got COVID the same time, the same time twice.
Two times. I was just
glad that it wasn't my fault because they called
me a super spreader the whole time.
As long as they didn't get it when I had it.
Amina, you were on Safari
when Tom Cruise got,
I mean, not Tom Cruise. Who was the first white man to get
COVID?
Tom Hanks.
But y'all didn't get it from me
and that's the only point.
That's what I'm saying.
We didn't get it from you,
but Mateo got tested
because of you
that first time.
Yeah.
Was he all right?
I don't know.
We can't say.
They did have to get
a lot of COVID tests
because of me,
but none of them
came back positive. Well, there was always somebody at the outset of COVID that was of me, but none of them came back positive.
Well, there was always somebody at the outset of COVID
that was spreading COVID around
or thought to be spreading COVID around.
And then eventually we all stopped giving a shit
who was spreading it around.
Yeah, absolutely.
Inside you, two wolves are locked in battle.
One thrives on fear and anger and doubt.
The other, courage, wisdom, and love. Every decision, every moment feeds one of them.
Which wolf are you feeding? I'm Eric Zimmer, host of The One You Feed.
I've been there, homeless, addicted, and lost.
I know the power of small choices to turn your life around.
On this podcast, I sit down with thinkers, leaders, and survivors
to uncover what it takes to feed the good wolf.
This podcast saved me.
It's like having a guide for the hardest parts of life.
The wolves are hungry. What will you feed them? Listen to The One You Feed on the iHeartRadio app,
Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.

when you met your biological father for the first time, he didn't even say hello? And how would you
feel if your doctor advised you to keep your life-altering medical procedure a secret from everyone? And what if your past itself was a secret,
and the time had suddenly come to share that past with your child?
These are just a few of the powerful and profound questions
we'll be asking on our 11th season of Family Secrets.
Some of you have been with us since Season 1,
and others are just tuning in.
Whatever the case, and wherever you are, thank you for being part of our Family Secrets family,
where every week we explore the secrets that are kept from us, the secrets we keep from others, and the secrets we keep from ourselves.
Listen to season 11 of Family Secrets on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Okay, let's talk about, because you both, you all have kind of different things going on personally.
So let's talk about the idea of being stand-up comics and living a life.
Right now, you're all single women, technically, and having everything that you want.
Do you feel that that's possible?
I know you've said that when we've been on the road.
You're like, I want to have it all and I can have it all.
Oh, I must have been vibrating hot at that.
Because today I'm like, you're going to carrying on the same way. And you can have it all, maybe not all at the same time. But I can honestly say like, oh, I've had money before. But, you know, my mental health was a mess or I've been in a relationship. but my mental health was a mess. I've had money and a relationship.
I'm a mess.
Like, I feel like it will all work out.
I think we need to define having it all more realistically
because I think we're putting too much pressure on
what is having it all anyway.
Yeah, but having it all for me,
I think it depends on what you want, right?
So like having it all for me would be the money. It would be be the love life it would be the career and it would be my fitness
I feel like I fluctuate in my weight a lot so it's like if all those things were here at the
top of the mountain then I maybe I'll probably look for something else to not have but I'm also
like those are the things that I feel like are the ones that are most important you know that's
that's a lot of me so you want abs. You want a man.
Abs and ass.
You want ass and ass.
She wants dick.
She wants cash.
She wants a career.
But all the time.
But the dick also needs to have it all.
Like, the dick needs to have, you know, a nice house
and all of their teeth, probably.
And, you know, things like that.
So that's the thing I feel like
you could have it all and then maybe those things on the other just kind of teeter and not be as
great maybe I mean I kind of agree with Sydney I think that as working women we can have it all I
just don't think you can have it all at the same exact time I think if your career is thriving
other stuff might be falling by the wayside maybe Maybe you have a cute situation that doesn't stress you out.
Or if your relationship is thriving, maybe you're not really all that focused on work because you're like, I'm happy.
I'm getting a dick. Like, you know what I mean?
But I expect to have it all. And I think that I will.
But I'm also a little bit of Lulu. So, you know, the best way to be.
I mean, Chelsea, we're we're up and coming
comedians i mean you you i feel like you're at a place where i think can you say being in this
career that you can have it all i mean we're looking at her breasts for lumps right now
i was just checking to see how hard my nipples were that's how i know if it's the right temperature
for me.
I prefer them to be a little bit crispy.
You know what I mean?
Not soft and not too hard.
Yeah, I think it's what is all to you.
For me, all doesn't mean marriage and a baby,
you know, or a child.
And to many professional women, they want to achieve that
while also achieving professional success.
So, I mean, my idea of having it all is sharing and having
tons of vacation time in conjunction with work and making my own schedule and making my own rules
and deciding what I'm going to do and what I'm not going to do without anybody telling me what
I'm going to do and what I'm not going to do is my idea of success. Well, it sounds like you have
it all then. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe. Maybe. Some version of that.
Do you guys ever get competitive with one another?
How does that work or present itself?
Or are you able to kind of really cheer each other on while also sometimes getting competitive?
Speaking on me, I am not competitive.
I just want to be in similar lanes with my friends I don't want to be
too behind I don't want to be I don't need to be exactly where they are but I don't want to be
you know the rut of of the crew in a sense of it doesn't even have to be like career wise but
sometimes like even energy energy energy, vibration, comedy.
You know, I love when we're all together.
It feels like we're all bringing something together and nobody is lacking.
Well, I think that's one of the things that I experienced
when I was coming up as a comic was like your friend groups
because there's friends that are really rooting for you.
But it's very hard not to get jealous
when you see someone get an
opportunity that you want. But also to understand that's a natural emotion and you can still be
supportive of someone when they're exceeding beyond your own success at that moment, because
there's a time for all of us. So I found growing up with some girls a lot less competitive. And
when I did was around women that were really competitive, I couldn't be friends with them like on a personal level. But I also was at a time in my life where I
had my own TV show. So everyone that was on the show, I was the boss. So there's like, well,
I'm not going to be competitive because I'm the one in charge. So I had a different dynamic,
which wasn't necessarily fair to all of the other women that were on the show,
because they were like, we want that we want want that. So you can take your success for granted and not realize that you're
not having to hit the pavement in the way that other people are having to hit the pavement.
And then conversely, that can all change in a matter of weeks, months, years, whatever. Everyone's
success comes at different times. But I hear what you're saying Sydney about not wanting to be like the runt of the litter in a friend group no one wants that it's not fun but I do
think that like um if somebody is getting something it's like oh that's amazing that's
that's also a win for the group that's like that brings the the group up because it's like oh we're
all in the right direction I think Samuel Jackson had a quote where he was like I was in a
he was in theater and he was seeing
different people get plucked out and he was
like I'm not that I'm one degree from that
so that means I'm in the right place so
you saw that on TikTok you reading
an audio book babe
oh my god
every time Sandy quotes anything
I 100% know it's from TikTok.
She reads, she didn't see a tweet.
No, she was on TikTok.
Sydney would be like, I saw this article.
We'd be like, TikTok.
TikTok, you saw an AI video of Samuel L. Jackson
saying that quote.
Everybody is on TikTok,
so it's not just me getting this information.
That's why it's viral.
Okay.
Thank you.
Period.
Sydney,
everything you watch is not viral though.
Sometimes you just see stuff and nobody else sees it.
And it's your algorithm.
Right.
Set to deceive you.
Right.
And that's all for this week with Amina,
Sydney and Marie.
You can find them on Instagram at just Sid BW.
That's Sydney's at Reezy. That's with three E's R E E E Z Y. And
