Starting point is 00:03:40 Welcome to our minisode, you guys. Today we are discussing, I have tasked Catherine with teaching me what quantum physics is. Because I need to have a better understanding. And I got a text from you last. night that said, hey, can we talk about quantum physics? So I've just, you know, discovered all the mysteries of the universe by tomorrow morning. So here we are. We're ready. Thank you. I do have to say my favorite thing is that last year you learned that the sun and the moon are not the same thing. That was not last year. That was at least five years ago. That was my two books ago. So that was like,
Starting point is 00:04:09 I mean, that's a little while ago. But now that you know that, like the natural next step is quantum physics, right? Yeah. Exactly. So basically, physics as we know it is a large scale thing. Right. If I push you, you're going to go over there. That's sort of a large scale thing. Okay. But when you get to the subatomic level, the stuff that we're all made up of and the quantum level, the energy, the electrons, like the things between, the air in between. The air within, you mean in between our bodies? Like what makes up our bodies? Yes. In between our electrons, our neutrons, at the quantum level, physics behaves entirely differently. So one of the main things that's important about quantum physics to understand is this
Starting point is 00:04:51 idea of what's called superposition. So superposition basically just means that something has a high probability of being one of two states. And it is not for sure in that state until it's actually being observed, which is like it sounds spooky and it sounds weird and it doesn't make sense, but it also kind of doesn't make sense. So like if you relate that to a pregnancy, until you are actually positively pregnant, it's not being observed? That's actually a good way to describe it. So there is a really typical example called Schrodinger's cat. And it's basically like a pregnancy. So Schrodinger's cat says that if you put a cat into a box and you're not looking at that cat because it's in the box, you don't know if that cat is alive or dead, right? So before you open the box, that cat has just as high
Starting point is 00:05:38 have a probability of being alive as being dead. But when you open the box, basically that's what causes, there's a causal relationship of like, now you know that the cat is alive or dead because if you open the box and you've observed it. So the reality is based on observation. And so while the cat is in that box, it's in a position of superposition. So it could equally be one or the other. I'm following this. Okay. Okay, good. Good, good. And so where that leads us is we're kind of always in this state of being in the box, if you will, where you have an infinite possibility of going this way or that way. And say I decide to turn left at the stoplight instead of right. What that means is, like, there might be one version of my reality where I did go left
Starting point is 00:06:24 or where I did go right. And so the theory of the multiverse kind of spawned out of all of this. And right now, that's sort of the prevailing wisdom is that the multiverse does exist. Like, you were talking about, like, are we living in a simulation sort of thing? But so in the multiverse, that theory says, like, there is one version of me that did this, one version of me that did that. And they both exist equally. So then where that brings us is one of my favorite things about, like, when I was researching this, the only people who are interested in quantum physics are either, like, nerdy dudes or, like, hot women who are into manifestation. So where that explains my interest. Exactly. So where that kind of brings us is it's one of the things that
Starting point is 00:07:05 helps people understand sort of like the physical reality of like if you can manifest things because you're basically just putting yourself in a different headspace and focusing on a different outcome and a different reality. And that energetically brings you to that different reality. I'm Nancy Glass, host of the Burden of Guilt Season 2 podcast. This is a story about a horrendous lie that destroyed two families. Late one night, Bobby Gumpright, became the victim of a random crime. He pulls the gun, tells me to lie down on the ground. He identified Termaine Hudson as the perpetrator.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Germain was sentenced to 99 years. I'm like, Lord, this can't be real. I thought it was a mistaken identity. The best lie is partial truth. For 22 years, only two people knew the truth. until a confession changed everything. I was a monster. Listen to Burden of Guilt Season 2 on the IHeart Radio app,
Starting point is 00:08:18 Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Jay Chetty, host of the On Purpose podcast. My latest episode is with Hilary Duff, singer, actress, and multi-platinum artist. Hillary opens up about complicated family dynamics, motherhood, and releasing our first record in over 10 years. We talk about what it's taken to grow up in the entertainment industry and stay grounded through every chapter. It's a raw and honest conversation about identity, evolution,
Starting point is 00:08:49 and building a life that truly matters. You desire in family like this picture, and that's not reality a lot of the time it's for people. My sister and I don't speak. It's definitely a very painful part of my life. And I hope it's not forever, but it's for right now. Listen to On Purpose with Jay Chetty on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. You know Roll Doll, the writer who thought up Willie Wonka, Matilda, and the BFG.
Starting point is 00:09:22 But did you know he was also a spy? Was this before he wrote his stories? It must have been. Our new podcast series, The Secret World of Roll Doll, is a wild journey through the hidden chapters of his extraordinary, controversial life. His job was literally to seduce the wives of powerful Americans. What? And he was really good at it. You probably won't believe it either.
Starting point is 00:09:41 Okay, I don't think that's true. I'm telling you, the guy was a spy. Did you know Dahl got cozy with the Roosevelt's? Played poker with Harry Truman and had a long affair with a congresswoman. And then he took his talents to Hollywood, where he worked alongside Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock before writing a hit James Bond film. How did this secret agent wind up as the most successful children's author ever?
Starting point is 00:10:03 And what darkness from his covert past seeped into the stories we read as kids. The true story is strange. than anything he ever wrote. Listen to the secret world of Roll Dahl on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, this is Joe Winterstein,
Starting point is 00:10:19 host of the Spirit Daughter podcast, where we talk about astrology, natal charts, and how to step into your most vibrant life. And I just sat down with a mini driver. The Irish traveler said when I was 16, you're going to have a terrible time with men. Actor, storyteller, and unapologetic, Aquarian, visionary.
Starting point is 00:10:39 Aquarius is a lot. about freedom-loving and different perspectives. And I find a lot of people with strong placements in Aquarius are misunderstood. A son and Venus and Aquarius in her seventh house spark her unconventional approach to partnership. He really has taught me to embrace people sleeping in different rooms, on different houses and different places, but just an embracing of the isness of it all. If you're navigating your own transformation or just want a chart-side view into how a leading artist integrates astrology, creativity, and real life, this episode is a must listen. Listen to the
Starting point is 00:11:14 Spirit Daughter podcast starting on February 24th on the IHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcast. So in theory, if you believe in a multiverse situation, which is different than quantum physics, because quantum physics sounds more like the possibility, rather than a multiverse, which is assuming both all things, all possibilities are happening at the same time. I almost think, and Brad, weigh in on this. I almost think it's a little bit opposite. I think quantum physics is the reality and the multiverse is potentially true. Brad, would you say that's correct?
Starting point is 00:11:49 Is it entirely connected? I don't know. Quantum physics is the study of the very, very small. That's what I know. Is the multiverse necessarily related to that? I see where you're going with the manifestation. That makes sense. I don't think it's related.
Starting point is 00:12:05 You don't feel like it's related? No, my understanding, which isn't one, is that the multiverse is just something that, like, somebody, like, you know, like, that's like a conjecture. Like, oh, maybe this is happening. But quantum physics is actually scientific. Right, exactly. And there's even quantum computers that can do quantum computing.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Like a simulation is a conjecture, not, it's not proven that we're in a simulation. That's just people going, what's going on here, like a matrix. Yes. Right? A matrix is like a multiverse. Correct? Yeah. Is that correct, Brad? Yes, sort of. That's kind of like a like a superimposed reality though, right? We're talking about like the matrix matrix. Yeah, yeah. I think that's kind of a different, I think a simulation would be different than that multiverse. Right. Because what if we're like, what, because what's the idea that supports the notion that we're living our past, present, and future at the same time? Okay, I've got this one. I've got this one. Okay. So this is like when you have a radio. You have all of the stations on the radio. You're getting frequencies from all over the place, right? They all exist.
Starting point is 00:13:12 But when you tune into just one radio frequency, that becomes your reality. So that's the one that you're tuned into. That's the one that you're hearing. All the other ones still exist. But to you, the only one that's real is the one that you are tuned into. Okay. See what I did? That was good.
Starting point is 00:13:29 So glad that I studied that. That's good. That's good. Thank you. Yes. But Neil deGrasse Tyson says that like nobody really understands quantum physics. So it's like kind of okay. Why don't we have him on? I think we actually should. Let's book him because we need to talk to him. Okay, great. Yeah, I had him on my Netflix show once and it wasn't long enough conversation. So this would be a better format for us. This is perfect. Because also there's an idea that, you know, yeah, all these things are existing at the same time. It just, it's like what you just described. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Right. So if I were to tune into my past, maybe I could jump back there or a future.
Starting point is 00:14:03 Yes. You know what? I saw TikTok yesterday. There is this, I'm sort of on like the witchy side of TikTok. And there is this witch who, what? Like witches. Like, you know, like pagan and witches. I didn't know this about you. This goes along with those hard boiled eggs that you travel with. Oh, by the way, one of my ex-boyfriends from Barcelona sent me a picture of him on a plane with a little container of four, six hard-boiled eggs and goes, I know you hate me now. I didn't respond and I'm going to block. He and I will do, he and I will get along famously. But, so this Glasgow witch, I really loved what she said. And I'll post a link to this. Why do you like witches and pagans? You know what? I think there, I don't understand a lot about it.
Starting point is 00:14:46 But to me, a lot of that stuff makes sense like talking to your ancestors, getting wisdom from our elders, from especially women who came before. A lot of that really makes sense to me. And also just are we actively doing that without knowing it or you're saying you're not doing it unless? With intention you're doing it. you're doing it. You know? Right.
Starting point is 00:15:04 Like, I feel like I have a pretty lively rapport with my ancestors, with people who've gone before me. I think you do too with your mom and with others who've gone before you. And I think that all, to me, goes into the same basket. But one thing she was talking about that I really resonated with was, you know, we talk about, like, reparenting or, you know, talking to yourself indifferent. And she was like, let's talk about time travel. Basically, going back to an earlier version of yourself and, like, giving her, her the whispers that you wish you knew and communicating with her like the comfort that you wish
Starting point is 00:15:38 she had at the time or the wisdom that you wish she had time. Who are we talking about yourself? This is like you're going back and visiting yourself at different points in your life. And to me that made so much more sense than like reparenting or shadow self or any of that stuff. Like to me that just clicked. And she said once you start to hear, you know, practice hearing the whispers of yourself to your younger self, you can start to hear the you that will come sending whispers back to your current self. And I just really love that. Wait, wait. Say that one more time. Yeah. She said once you get better at hearing the voice of yourself, the way you talk to yourself
Starting point is 00:16:11 in the past, you'll be able to better understand your future self giving you the whispers from because this is a little bit what Laura Day said. We're like all time exists at the same time. We experience it as a line, as a linear situation. But it actually all exists. We just happen to be at one point. It's a little bit like tuning into that one frequency. The frequency we're tuned into is now. But like the future already exists. The past obviously already exists. And so kind of what she was talking about is tuning into different places in your timeline and being able to communicate with yourself at different times. And that really, really resonated with me. Yeah, there was a conversation I heard Bill Maher having with, I guess, I think it was who was on his show? Was it Paul Krugman? I don't want to misspeak, but I do it all the time. So I guess it's not that big of a problem. And he was talking about common. knowledge. This is not directly related to what we're talking about, but it's another interesting conversation about common knowledge. It's like you see an event happen, say 9-11. I know without talking
Starting point is 00:17:14 to you that you know what happened on 9-11 because it's become common knowledge. I know that you know and I know that everyone else knows the same information that I do that 9-11 occurred. And that once something becomes common knowledge, it's like then once everything, it's like how things get exposed, you know, like, and it was related to politics. And it's like, oh, like January 6th. Like, once that happened, everyone knew what happened. Right. And you can change the narrative of what happened. But like, we all saw what happened that day. There's no denying what happened. Yeah. So it was very interesting the way he was talking. I wish I wasn't so stone so I could better recollect it. But, you know, it was nighttime. Yeah. I was also making my very first meal before I moved out of my friend's house, cat's house.
Starting point is 00:17:56 Oh, you cooked? We made chicken piccata together. How lovely. It wasn't very good. I have to be honest. It was not good. But now I know the next time, what to make, how to make it better. Exactly. The chicken was overcooked. Yeah. There was a lot of lemon.
Starting point is 00:18:11 Yeah. The rinds, too. But we did make it together. I had a cocktail and I had an edible. And it was fun. It was cute. Yeah. And Kat was my mentor.
Starting point is 00:18:23 I love that. She was really proud of me. Listening to the wisdom of other women and recipes are something that we passed down. Yeah, cooking was fun. And I can't believe. I'm saying this out loud, but it was fun. We had a fun time cooking. Good. I'm so happy for you.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Yeah, now I get to move into another rental. Well, I mean, rental feels better than living in construction. I mean, any day of the week, right? Shout out to the person that's renting me to their house. That never rents their house. Perfect. I'm Nancy Glass, host of the Burden of Guilt Season 2 podcast. Hi, this is Joe Winterstein, host of the Spirit Daughter podcast,
Starting point is 00:21:49 where we talk about astrology, natal charts, and how to step into your most vibrant life. And I just sat down with a mini driver. The Irish traveler said when I was 16, you're going to have a terrible time with men. Actor, storyteller, and unapologetic, Aquarian.
Starting point is 00:22:05 visionary. Aquarius is all about freedom-loving and different perspectives, and I find a lot of people with strong placements in Aquarius are misunderstood. A son and Venus and Aquarius in her seventh house spark her unconventional approach to partnership. He really has taught me to embrace people sleeping in different rooms, on different houses, and different places, but just an embracing of the isness of it all. If you're navigating your own transformation or just want to chart-side view into how a leading artist integrates astrology, creativity, and real life, this episode is a must listen. Listen to the Spirit Daughter podcast starting on February 24th on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you listen to your podcast.
Starting point is 00:22:50 Well, I have a follow-up, Chelsea, from one of our listeners. This gal called in, she didn't have a name, she was just calling it under-disappointed daughter. But she was calling in about her mom who had gone through menopause and was basically like only interested in men and kind of wild and out and like partying a lot sort of thing. So it was a little bit of a bummer update. But she says, Hi, Catherine. I'd love to say it went well when I talked to my mom, but it did not.
Starting point is 00:23:18 My mom was pretty hurt by my entry, to say the least. She felt blindsided, misrepresented, and confused by what I wrote. We spend over a month not really speaking before things blew over. However, after purchasing both Brooke, Shields, and Mel Robbins's books, hearing Chelsea and Brooks perspective and also taking a closer look at myself, I realized it was best to dig deeper into why I wrote in and apologized to my mom. I found the following excerpt from Mel's book to be particularly helpful. If you're not in control of the situation, don't make yourself sick about it. Trying to control others doesn't work. Give yourself the peace of trusting that life is the best teacher
Starting point is 00:23:54 and people will learn as they go. That's how it's designed. Let them learn from life and be who they are. I spent a great deal of my life begging my mom to let me be who I am. I spent a great deal of my life, am, and here I am today, not allowing her the same freedom. I can't thank Chelsea and Brooke enough for their advice, as it gave me insight and perspective I hadn't considered before. My mom is only human. This is her first time living too, and I did her an injustice by judging her so harshly. If I want peace and contentment in my own life, then I need to let others be. Truthfully, my mom is one of the strongest, most intelligent and independent women I know. She raised a daughter who's brave enough to speak her mind and strong enough to face the consequences. For that, I'm thankful. Thank you all again,
Starting point is 00:24:35 disappointed daughter. So I guess not a bummer. No, that's not a bummer. Did we give her, what did I advise her to confront her mother? Yeah, yeah. That's probably bad advice. But you also said like read Mel's. Yeah, you said to read Mel's book and then Brooke Shield also was like, you know, this is kind of something happened. So yeah, no, I thought that was really good. She learned a lot kind of like maybe not through the initial advice, but she says in the letter, this is my mom's first life too. We, we don't know that it is your mom's first life because now we have to talk now there's past lives like we don't know if that's real or that's not real. So which one is it? There's part of the multiverse or are there past lines or are we in a multiverse? Or yeah, maybe all of the above. Or am I on the spectrum? I mean, I'm on some spectrum.
Starting point is 00:25:16 That's for sure. Okay, guys, I am officially on my high and mighty tour. March 13th, Cleveland, Ohio, March 14th, Columbus, Ohio, March 15th, Cincinnati, Ohio.
