It's Chelsea and Catherine from what is the name of this podcast, Catherine? It is Dear Chelsea. I've been clearing my throat for about four and a half months. So I am going to have to get a esophagus, x-ray, esophageal x-ray to find out what the fuck is in my throat. It's probably a kernel of cannabis. Anyway, actually, it's really funny. My dad, this is not really funny. It's just a

Starting point is 00:00:43 weird story in my family. My dad once inhaled a kernel of popcorn into his lung and he did that for a while so hopefully it's not popcorn oh you had to get it like scoped out oh yeah and the doctor like almost gave up he's like I don't see he's like I know there is popcorn in my lung you know that's funny because I try not to smoke weed that much anymore because of this and I think think it's weed related, which it's not. I still have some sort of acid reflux or anyway, I smoked a little joint last night when Joe and I got home from Malibu. We actually went to go see John Lovitz, who is the person who introduced Joe and me like 17 years ago.

Starting point is 00:01:17 And he's been taking credit for our romance ever since. So I said we should invite him to Nobu Malibu, which is where we had some dinner. And he was very excited to be out. Nice. Yeah. So yeah, I think we're all excited to Nobu Malibu, which is where we had some dinner. And he was very excited to be out. Nice. Yeah. That's very good. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:01:28 I think we're all excited to be out after two years. I know. I know. This is a little mini episode because we are on hiatus for three weeks. But we have an update from someone who called into the show. And we wanted to share that with you guys. Yes. It's really exciting.

Starting point is 00:01:44 This one is from Sarah. She wrote in a while back. She was having trouble taking compliments about the fact that she had adopted a couple of kids and was at when we talked about adopting a new one. She said, I've been able to use the advice Chelsea gave me when given compliments about my kids. And it's been great to have something deeper than thank you to say in return. One conversation I was not expecting to have was with my youngest, who was just recently adopted. It was about a month after Chelsea and I spoke, and me and my little were downstairs picking up his toys. He told me that he often thinks about how lucky and grateful he is to have found our family and how he sometimes worries that he's only in our lives because COVID happened and we were home anyway. With a piece of my heart breaking

Starting point is 00:02:32 inside, I thought about what to respond with and then Chelsea's advice hit me. I said to him, I love that you're grateful for us and you need to know we're grateful for you too. You are here because you are my purpose and I was put on this earth to share your joy and to help you share yours. He looked at me and his eyes got so big and he said, well, I've never been anyone's purpose before. Does that mean we're meant to be not just that we were forced to be? As we talked, I thought more about our conversation and said, it's great for me to be able to be good at something. And I'm so happy that you think I'm good at being your mom.

Starting point is 00:03:10 Oh my God, what a tearjerker. I know. That conversation with him will never leave my heart. And I felt like I was armed with the best thing to say because of my talk with Chelsea. This was not the application I expected to use her advice in, but it sure was an awesome one. I cannot wait to see her on August 13th in Calgary. I'll be the girl in the head-to-toe Ask Chelsea merch, laughing my ass off, I'm sure. Thanks again for reaching out and looking forward to chatting soon. First of all, it's Dear Chelsea, not Ask Chelsea. So, I mean, honestly, you had me with your letter and then... But, you know, we had to clarify at the beginning.

Starting point is 00:03:45 I love it. I love it. Oh, my God. That was so sweet. I know. I know. What an impact everybody can have, you know, like anyone who's listening, you can have an impact on somebody just by like sitting with them and listening to them and giving them advice or like giving them strength, you know, to move on in the direction of like being empowered or sitting in your power. Like, what are you doing? Well, recognize it and and say it.

Starting point is 00:04:11 Yes. You know, and spread it, spread it. Speaking of dates, I'm coming to Louisville Thursday night this week. This is Thursday, Louisville, Kentucky. Friday night is St. Louis, Missouri. And then Saturday and Sunday night, I'm in Kansas City at the Uptown Theater. So I hope you guys are all coming.
