Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello? If you're listening to this, it means you haven't bought your tickets, I can only assume. And you have ears. Some people just have the holes, but not the actual ear. Okay. And you have ear drums. Okay. Listen, listener. If you have ear drums. We need you to buy tickets to the live show. Live!

We'll see if she comes out of her pit and into our bunker. What else do you have to say about that? It's going to be a one-hour show.
Starting point is 00:00:35 It's going to be silly and fun. It's kind of the perfect night out for a Thursday evening where you're like, oh, we'll bring Lynn from the office. And then we'll go and get some, you know, Mapu Tofu in Chinatown. It's straight after. Yeah, because like 6.30, 7.30. Then you've got 7.30. You could even go and see a film at Melbourne Central.
Starting point is 00:00:54 You could. You could make a whole evening of it. Go and see the bar. Go and play with some laser tag. Well, you could also then go to Rough Trade on Smith Street afterwards. Well, you could even get your Mapu Tofu then show up at Rough Trade on Smith Street. Yes. At Kent Street.
Starting point is 00:01:09 For their one-year anniversary party that I'll be hosting like a crone. And we might even have another pop-up performance from the Miniest Wang. Miniest Wang. So, yeah, we really highly recommend it. We don't do live shows very often. And this is kind of a little pop-up that came about because we wanted to do something fabulous with Minnie. Yes. This is one of the only things she's doing in Melbourne

Starting point is 00:01:57 on the last day in hell. Okay. We'll see you then. Let's get on to the show. Hello, listener. Hello. What are you all doing today? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:45 What have you done today? Why aren't you answering me? What is going on? What is going on? For me or for listener? Listener. Listener. Have you considered that it's summertime?
Starting point is 00:03:03 You can commence your backyard activities. It's spring. Honey, there's two summers. Oh. Never ending. Midnight summertime. This is, okay, yeah. No, spring.
Starting point is 00:03:19 What are we doing spring? Are you allowed to prune in spring? Yeah, and spring's the time for pruning. Okay. Can you prune that cherry tree in my backyard? Yeah. It needs a, prune. Can I start guiding its branches with wire?
Starting point is 00:03:34 Like a bonsai? Yeah. Like a big sigh? We should more just like prune it to shape. Yeah, but can't I shape it and have Dr. Seuss-style branches? Oh, yes, you could. Could I? Yeah. Why are you against that?
Starting point is 00:03:50 I'm not. It's just, you just have to be on top of it because if it grows too fast, then the coils will. You know I'll be on top of it. and by that I mean I'll do it one day and then I'll forget about it completely. Yeah, that's fine. Yeah, you do that. Oh my God. Now I'm into it.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Yeah. We gave that tree a prune last year. I know, but now I want it to have funny shaped branches. All right. Yeah. I want the tree to be like, what? A little shrug. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Hmm. Okay. And who's that giggling in the background? Giggling gurgling girtie. It's our producer. Producer Matt. Hello. Matt.
Starting point is 00:04:26 Hello, my dearest friends. Hello. Are you producing in there? Are you controlling the levels? I'm riding the knobs hard. Excuse me! This is the kind of shit that keeps this show from breaking into the mainstream. This kind of overly sexualized.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Yeah. This is what destroy people say about us, that we're always riding knobs. They're going to be very disappointed in us. Albert Knobbs. Okay. Okay. It's just been the AFL Granny. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:57 It's just been, we just did that show for Adam Palford. Yes. What else have we done? What else has happened this week? What else? Okay, okay. We've been deep in planning for Halloween. Halloween.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Exciting. Okay, what else? Yeah, we're preparing for the Mini Wang's arrival. Yes, that's going to be. You're going to go to the airport and hold up a sign saying Mini Wang. You'd love that, wouldn't you, Matt? It would be right. It's my sort of humor, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Yeah. Actually, what I will say, if you're coming on Thursday, if you're contemplating coming, would you come? But also, it is, it is like, yeah, it's pop-up shop. It's going to be a one-hour show. I don't know, even know if we're going to get Matt on stage. No, we have to. We have to. I didn't go on stage last time.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Can you wear that newsboy outfit? Are you selling newspapers? Because that was the bit last time. We have newspapers. I found them. Okay, we can sell some newspapers. Yeah, all right. Okay, so limited edition merch is back.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Yeah. Yeah, and I'll be a newsboy. But you really need to push it this year. Yeah. I'll say extra, extra, extra. Extra, extra. Yeah. Read all about it.
Starting point is 00:06:09 I'll spook it around the place, yeah. Sprook. Spook the paper. Ooh, I'm going to see if four pillars will give us a bottle of gin for Halloween. Yeah. I'm going to message them now. All right. Like, as one of the gifts for best dress.
Starting point is 00:06:22 For best dress. Our best dress collection continues to grow quite imperious. Can I have something for free? Have something for free? Yeah, I'll slap in the face. Okay, okay. You've lost the flow. Get back in the solo.
Starting point is 00:06:44 I know, I know, sorry. You derailed the Zelda. Me! We're in a riptide. Okay. Should we just start the episode again? No, you've been fine. Just keep going.
Starting point is 00:06:58 All right. Hello, listener. Hello. My name is Lazy Susan. And my name's Zelda Moon. And in the production booth today, we have matches. Hi. Hi.
Starting point is 00:07:09 Okay, incredible. And we're not going to say anything inappropriate. No. Okay. Now listen, guys. Yeah. Or girls. Or them's.
Starting point is 00:07:17 Or it? I don't know. I don't want to say anything else. Everyone. Hello. My name is Lazy Susan. And I'm Zelda Moon. And in the production booth today, we have matches.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Hi. Hey. Hi. Hi. Now, listen, this is a show called Death to Everyone. Hi. Hi. to Matt?
Starting point is 00:07:31 Matt? Hello, everyone. My name is Lazy Susan. And I'm Zelda Moon. And in the production booth today, we have Matches. Hello. Hey, now this is our weekly podcast
Starting point is 00:07:42 called Death to Everyone. DGE for those in the N-O. Hello, everyone. My name is Lazy Susan. And I'm Zelda Moon. And in the production booth today, we have the incredible matches. Hi, Matt.
Starting point is 00:07:55 And this is our weekly show. It's called Death to Everyone. Oh, D-T-E to those in the K-Syssen. It's our weekly podcast where we go through a range of fabulous topics And each week from those topics we pluck the best of the best To live forever in our doomsday bunker The world's coming to an end
Starting point is 00:08:15 It is It's the end of the world As we know it Why didn't we have that as the themes I feel You're taking off your face mask I am. It's all shredded and I'm just, I'm not into it. It's actually stressing me out. Oh, but now my face is like serum. Can you hear that?
Starting point is 00:08:38 Oh my God. So. Jesus. Oh, my name is Jesus. My name is, I do, okay. Okay, okay. I think you need to go to the doctor. What? How you told you?
Starting point is 00:08:50 Um, okay. So, so. So what did you think of the grand final? Okay. Okay, I haven't seen it. No. I just saw scraps. I'm going to watch the reruns. So yeah, it's huge news.
Starting point is 00:09:02 We have Kylie Minogue making a return home performance as the pre-show entertainment for the grand final. Pre-show? It's pre-show. It's pre-show? I don't think that halftime is the big thing here. They didn't have enough time to get their own stage and back off again. Wait, so does that mean all the gays left after Kylie? I don't think the gays went.
Starting point is 00:09:22 Oh, okay. Okay, so the grand final over the last few years has, made a bigger and bigger attempt to try and be like the American Super Bowl. Yeah. And have like big openers. Which listen, I'm, I'm so into them putting on a spectacular. A thousand percent. It's just not good.
Starting point is 00:09:45 Hey, no. Hey. Hey. It's not good. Hey. Like, obviously it's not good. Why is it not good? It's like the teamy version.
Starting point is 00:09:55 It's just like, but the scale and the spectacle, like they're still giant floating objects. I think maybe it's like part of not playing at night. Daytime robs at it. Super Bowls at the day as well. No. Yeah. No, not the halftime show. Isn't it? No, it's always at night. So the lighting is much more incredible. With fireworks. Yeah. And jets. Jets. It's just hard. They just don't really bang in the day, do they? There's, um, I don't know. There's something about Kylie.
Starting point is 00:10:29 coming out at the top of that show with sunglasses on. Yes. That I was like, you look like you're going to the Dalesford market. It's glary out there. I get it. There's no trees. I get it. Well, it doesn't sound like you get it.
Starting point is 00:10:45 It sounds like you're being critical of it. Anyway, so it was a huge deal that Kylie was doing this show. They had a merch set up pre the granny outside the MCG or whatever. Do people call it a granny? Why are you saying that? That's what I've heard. Oh, I see. And then they would, they would, like, people like left their work early to go and get one of these jerseys and stuff.
Starting point is 00:11:09 Which people? Gay people. Oh, you're right. Like, at the merch set up. Oh, the jerseys. Oh, we saw one of those at Adams thing last night. So two. Oh.
Starting point is 00:11:17 I was very impressed. I just thought it was the same person. The Kylie football is sickening. What? That Kylie text, like, in the AFL font on the side of the football. Oh, yeah. is such a great image. The big football.
Starting point is 00:11:31 However. Did you see the big football? Saw the big football. Yeah. I need to understand. Yeah. Where were the gay people? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:45 Planning the show. Yep. Where were the gay people planning the show? Yeah. Because you are the reigning queen of pop. Yeah. Australian pop at very least. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:57 Yes. Why did you not serve? What do you mean? It wasn't the tennis. She was wearing a t-shirt. It was like one of those long t-shirts that you pull down over your bum. Why was that the case? Did she have a belt around?
Starting point is 00:12:18 She had an outfit, she had three outfit changes, and they were all. They were all terrible. Like mold drag. Yeah. And then even the background people. There were like the blue suits with the like the morph suits from eBay. Oh, come on. From Alibaba with the reflective head.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Mama. They were pretty cool. The head mask thing was cool. I did not. That was like a Sharon. Think that that was cool. Sharon is the football, right? They look like those people who ride those lusges, you know, those sleds, the sleds in the Olympics.
Starting point is 00:12:51 Lugees. Luge. Is it called luge? Luge. So you win some, you luge some. Do you think that that would be a great name for our new Luz shop? Just selling morph suits and shiny helmets. Here's the thing about the morph suit.
Starting point is 00:13:07 Yeah. A zendai. I don't. For the gay dancers, being on stage with Kylie is one of the greatest honors of all time. Cover it up. And then being completely dis, you know, dehuman eyes. All eyes on Kylie's face and the sunglasses. And the sunglasses.
Starting point is 00:13:27 I don't know, man. I want to, I love Kylie. And I want to be like Kylie. I want to be like the princess of pop. She didn't perform that, I don't know. I know. But the things that happened at Barba were better than the whole show.
Starting point is 00:13:51 Correct. Why is that? Because gay people. it was just like why where was the spectacle and then all the colors were really ugly it was like yellow red blue all happening and I was like what is happening I know there was no cohesion and then G flip yeah who is it I mean I actually think G flip acquitted themselves incredibly oh like when they picked up that saxophone I was like wow you're a really talented um musician but it is
Starting point is 00:14:24 It's just so tragic that the Australian scene, like, doesn't have enough star power that G-Flip is literally booked for, like, the last four years, every single event, every single thing. They book G-flip. I don't think G-flip is famous in a single other place than Australia. Here's my question. Who is G-flip? Well, you remember selling sunset. What? There was that reality show about the Oppenheim group selling sunset.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Yes. Yeah, well, so Crochelle. Which is evil gay, oh no, evil, evil like fit brothers. Yeah. Who have all the hot, um, real estate agents. Yeah. And one of the real estate agents was a woman named Crishel Stiles. Okay.
Starting point is 00:15:13 And she got divorced in season one or season two. And then became a lesbian and got with G flip. Well, lesbian them. Yeah. and got with Australia's famous non-binary drummer and singer G-Flip. What is G-Flip from? What's like a G-flip song? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:35 You'll just have to turn on any piece of Australian media to discover that G-Flipp is apparent. Like, I feel like I'm being sci-opted by the worst fucking secret organization ever. However, I think G-Flip seems cool. It's not an issue with G-flip. It's just like, what are we in these holding patterns? It's like we're allowed to have three famous people at a time. And then we had the fucking inspired unemployed. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:03 Sorry. That feels like it flies in the face of every queer person that supports Kylie. Yeah. Sorry. Those two fuckers get to be on stage with Kylie. Yeah. They have 2.3 million followers. Isn't that crazy?
Starting point is 00:16:20 It's an indictment. what it is. You know what I prefer? Not those two. You know the other two and they used to be three? And they're so hot. There's three brothers. They're brothers? There's two brothers. They're not brothers.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Which ones? They're like the rip-off version. Wait, which one's the rip-off? I don't know. There's like one moment. Oh, there's just like an endless supply of like kind of... Male comedians. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:46 Doomed forever adolescent men that put teetouse on their heads to pretend to be their wives. Yeah, what? When did this happen? I just will scream. They made like a toilet paper line. Well, instead of having Kylie serve absolute cunt, they put some fucking TikTokers up there. And the worst part is it's like that would mean so little to them.
Starting point is 00:17:16 They would be excited about being at the grand final, but they wouldn't be excited or honored to be performing on stage with Kylie. They'd be like, oh, my mom loves you, Kylie. Yeah. And I would scream. Whereas if you picked, I don't know, a gay person... Yes. To go on stage?
Starting point is 00:17:35 Swag on the beat. You know swag on the beat? Yeah, yeah. Those boys are so fucking... I know one of those guys. What? Yeah. Which one?
Starting point is 00:17:45 The... Jack? Okay, well, I don't know their names. Jack, I think one of them. Anyway. You know, like, the... one like this one oh oh mad you know swag on the beat lazy susan no really honey what are you talk about i'm going to send you this one they lick each other's faces i mean it's all just like
Starting point is 00:18:06 fucking gay bait bullshit but they're so hot and they seem like nice guys unlike those two that were with kiley they seem like fucking douchebags where the third one go i don't know he was always more in the background, but now he's not in the background at all. I'm sure it's very publicly available, but I don't need to know. Dead. Did he die? No. Oh, which one do you know, Matt?
Starting point is 00:18:29 I think he's name's Jack. Like the hot one? I think he used to work with Alyssa. He came here a couple of times. Here, in this room? Yeah, to the studio. Zelda, you're the problem. What's it?
Starting point is 00:18:40 You're encouraging these men. No, I don't encourage them. You're encouraging these men. No, they're just really attractive. I've had it. I've had it. I've just had it. I've just had it with this country.
Starting point is 00:18:52 I've had it with the things we make important. Can't we have nice things? Can't we have nice things? Who would you have had on with Kylie? Dandrogeny. Yes. Give it to someone who deserves it. I know.
Starting point is 00:19:09 You know? Give it to Mandy Moves. Yeah. She loves Kylie and she would care more. She'd be crying. Tears glistening in the redwoods. Well, we wouldn't see it. She'd be wearing a blue face.
Starting point is 00:19:19 Yes. They don't want to look at drag queens on the TV. Well, that's quietly, Matt, you've hit the nail in the head. Yeah. We have watched over the last five years. But it was like, it was still general population camp. It was like. It was that's what was missing.
Starting point is 00:19:38 It was toned down for the. It wasn't camp. It wasn't camp. I thought it was quite good. It was like the discoo ball football. No. No. No.
Starting point is 00:19:48 It wasn't camp. It was like camp, disco ball represents everything that is like, fun, we're fun guys. We're going to have a little disco ball in our house. Like, disco ball as the symbol for camp is like the appropriated straight culture has destroyed the disco ball. Yeah. It's not camp. But I like the colors. Like the yellow and the blue and the pink and red and stuff.
Starting point is 00:20:18 No, no. It was good. It was garrish, I'll give you that. It was ugly. But not even in a harlequin way. Not as in Harley Quinn, but as in like a jester. When you look at the difference between Sydney Olympics, Kylie, and this, I was like, where's the camp, Kylie?
Starting point is 00:20:38 Because it felt intentionally straight people are fired. But I mean, maybe that is, okay, what about this? Recession indicator, no, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Let's just take one moment. Okay. Are you, you don't agree with me?
Starting point is 00:20:57 I, a thousand percent agree. However, I have a thought. Just one. In the car on the way here, we were discussing two of my upcoming gigs. Yeah. I have rough trade this Thursday. Woo, from Paris to Berlin. In every disco, money.
Starting point is 00:21:14 And then I've got, I'm doing mollies with Luma in a couple weeks. Woo! From Paris to Berlin. And I did that gig with Luma like last year and I had a best time and then it took a year to be rebooked. Which I'm saying it's probably my fault because I don't know if I picked tracks that were completely appropriate. I runs for the audience. Let the audience our listener decide. What tracks did you do?
Starting point is 00:21:39 What did I do for a gay club? You did the Uki Bougie. I did do Uki Bougy didn't I? From Nightmare Before Christmas? Yeah. Release me now or you. There's some dire consequences. I can't remember the other one.
Starting point is 00:21:52 But then, okay, so I'm like, if you're coming to Mollies that night, I'm really going to, I'm putting in the effort now, okay? Yeah. It's going to be great. But my point is, there are things that I'm going to select for rough trade where it's a bit more like I could do whatever I want. Yeah. And then there are things that I'll select for Mollies so that it like lands with the audience.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Yeah. Right? That is something as a performer you simply must do. Uh-huh. And the AFL grand final. The granny, if you will. Who is watching that? Straight people.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Yeah. And then some gay people. Yeah. Famously, there's more of them than us. There is. We're outnumbered. And you know what? Everyone knows that.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Yeah. Including Kylie. And who was she tailoring the performance to that we are just pleased by? But we're the minority. We are the minority. And she was doing the AFL version of her schick because she knows that, mostly straight people who don't want to see her in like, you know, the headpieces and the showgirl and the campery because that's just not the audience. So it's like when I did Oogie Boogie at Mollies.
Starting point is 00:23:03 They didn't want to see that. Imagine if Kaly had it took a year and a half. Well, well, well, what have we here? Shandigl. Football. Oh, I'm really scared. So you're the game everybody's been talking about. No, but okay, this is...
Starting point is 00:23:20 Do you know what I mean? I would say, in the Australian cultural landscape... That's not what I mean. In the Australian cultural landscape, I would equate this to, if you saw a country starving, and you walked in there, and you had, you know,
Starting point is 00:23:39 you were looking around, you were seeing people eating dirt and rucks. Mm-hmm. You know, and you had giant factory freezer are filled with, you know, gorgeous cheesecakes, delicious entrees, finger sandwiches. Cheesecakes! And you came into the village, the town, and you looked at these people and the people in this analogy of the straight people.
Starting point is 00:24:04 And you said, well, they're already eating dirts and rocks. I'll give them some more dirts and rocks, even though you have access to the cheesecakes and the finger sandwiches. And so Kylie yesterday on television was like, Dirt and Rock. for you all. Look at them. You love it. Eat it up every crumb. And having seen her in the past, being the Princess of Pop, serving high camp glamour and cheesecake. These people don't have access to cheesecake for the rest of the year. They have access to the inspired, unemployed, doing funny sketches about how real estate agents be, which is apparently the thing that straight boys,
Starting point is 00:24:47 care about. Oh. And how their girlfriend talks sometimes, or how they're kind of gay with their mates, but not in a homosexual way. Yes. Yeah. So I think it is irresponsible for her to come out and not give these people the one meal that they deserve because it would awaken a lot of people.
Starting point is 00:25:11 Yeah. Why didn't she? Yeah. I just, what do you mean? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I think over the last four or five years, the Trump era,
Starting point is 00:25:22 we've been seeing a shift towards conservatism. We've been seeing the arranger of queer people in big mainstream spaces. And Australia, I'm looking at you because it's been constant. They're very, very few queer. I mean, thank God for G flip. But I feel like G flip fits into this, like, fabulous mold of what is still deemps. on the outside acceptable because their queerness is aligned
Starting point is 00:25:51 with a kind of like downplayed, cool, not ostentatious, not femmy kind of experience. And even that, it's just so frustrating. These are the, this is meant to be our day. All right. Yes.
Starting point is 00:26:09 Well, who won? The game. Oh, Brisbane. Brisbane. Lines. Yeah. Yeah. Kite Kunti. Is it?
Starting point is 00:26:19 I just think it's funny because, like, Brisbane doesn't really care about AFL as much as they care about. Yeah, they have the other one. Yeah. Premier League. Premier League. And so it's like, oh, we can also win your game too. I think it, no, I think it's called Rocket League.
Starting point is 00:26:33 Rocket League. Driving their cars around that cage. Yes. Yeah, but the, one of the guys, oh my God, why do I have to know this? One of the guys from Brisbane. Eddie McGu. No.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Not Eddie. It was the other one. One of the other football guys. Wait, what's it? Sam, who was the guy on the footy show? Sam, no, I don't know. Wasn't he Provo? Of course he was Provo.
Starting point is 00:26:58 Anyway, what? One of the guys hit another guy before. What? Before the finale, the grand finale. In last week's game. In last week's game, he got, they got in a scrum and then. The scrum. Listen, they got in a little incident.
Starting point is 00:27:19 A scrum, go with it. And then he got up and took some, like, took some, like, retaliatory attack and punched this guy in the gut. On, like, while they're on the field. And, um. No, we're near the ball. Just, like, you know, vengeance. Yeah. And then they looked into it because they have, obviously, like, they have to make sure that they, you know.
Starting point is 00:27:42 He hit him in the right spot. They don't promote this stuff. And it was looking like he might be suspicious. before the grand final. No, he did get suspended. Did he know? They let him play. No, no, no, but he got suspended and then he took it to like an appeal court and then
Starting point is 00:27:55 they said no again. And then they somehow appealed it again. And then it got overturned and he just had to pay $10,000. So he could play. Yeah. So like, it was just teaching everyone like, if you pay enough money, you can get out of anything. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:14 If you hit someone, it's all right. And I mean, obviously that goes part and partial with the sort of lessons we're teaching young men in this country. Yeah. What the fuck? Yeah. Do you know about the like the hotel thing? What? From like the girls at work were telling me about it.
Starting point is 00:28:33 Oh yeah, the swans. What the fuck? So far. It is so insane. I had no idea. I was like, you guys, my algorithm gives me aquarium content and men wearing underwear. But it's like, It's nice to live in a bubble.
Starting point is 00:28:47 Yeah. What is, what is happening? Insane. In the country. Yeah. What do you mean? Yeah. I'm just so like, sometimes it's like everyone is like playing Grand Theft Auto and I'm playing The Sims, you know?
Starting point is 00:29:07 Oh yeah. I just don't understand what game we're all in. Yeah. That's like the most famous men. or people the people we lord are not incredible artists, creatives
Starting point is 00:29:22 minds, you know scientists the people we lord are like 19 year olds who can run fast to kick a ball yeah but they're good guys God bless I don't have anything against people getting out there
Starting point is 00:29:37 and giving it a good Aussie go but fuck me does that mean you should be the most fucking fair what is this obsession God the tags It's just built into our DNA Robbie I don't understand
Starting point is 00:29:51 It's back to the Coliseum You know Ancient room And gladiators Yeah People just want to see people Get hurt But we can do that
Starting point is 00:30:02 On prison break I was gonna say In Australia It's funny as doing video It does Because it's like You meet The people
Starting point is 00:30:13 the common clay the people are commonclave the people of the land regular folk they're lovely straight people living in
Starting point is 00:30:25 you know base water great time oh no sorry seriously some of the best people I met no no no but then you put everyone
Starting point is 00:30:35 together no God sometimes I interact with straight men and God I didn't say straight men. I was an imagining straight man.
Starting point is 00:30:45 I was imagining fabulous women. Oh, the women are great. Yeah. I just like, because I'm surrounded by like mostly straight women. Yeah. Like at work or whatever.
Starting point is 00:30:57 And then when the men appear, I'm like, how genuinely how do you navigate this? Yeah. Like dating and marrying these people and like living your lives with them. It's fucked. Yeah. I, uh,
Starting point is 00:31:10 yeah. Yeah, it is kind of like, Because it's like, you know, 51% of the Australian population is women. If every, and listen, I'm sure that some women enjoy watching football. Yes. But if every woman would just say, no, actually no, we're not doing that this year. We're going to go watch AFLW.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Yeah. We're going to go and do something else. We're just not investing our energy into that. We're not hosting the barbecue for the boys to watch the pies play. We're going to just go and do something else. And we're shutting it down. Yeah. And this year we're investing in something we care about.
Starting point is 00:31:52 Yeah. Majority rules. Cross-ditch. Yeah. I worked yesterday and then went home, got ready for the gig, and then did the gig. And around the time that I was walking home, it was like the last quarter, I could tell. because I have like a 35 minute walk home from the train station and I could hear the footy from like various houses
Starting point is 00:32:17 and like backyards as I was like walking through the streets of Ascot Vale it's quite confronting. Yeah. Yeah. That's all. I also just think like how good can this show be if most people leave before it's over? Do you know what I mean? You're always leaving football games and like...
Starting point is 00:32:35 Yeah. And people fucking take the puck. in my fucking neighborhood so that they can train in. Yeah. Oh, it really boils my beans. Yeah. I've had it. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:32:48 How fucking dare you. Yeah. Ooh. When there's Nari a car park to be found, I have to zip down to office works knowing full well some like family and their spawn clad in fucking polyester knit scarves are going to steal my fucking car park so they can ride on the train into the scene. into the city and avoid having to pay a premium to do their disgusting habit. You're going to pay $12 for a pie, darling.
Starting point is 00:33:16 Go and spend the extra money and get fucking parking. Stop stealing mine. No, they don't have pies anymore. What? No, they've just got like hot dog barn me's and stuff. What? How do you know this, man? Wait, hot dog barn barmees?
Starting point is 00:33:30 Yeah. Wait, why don't they have pie? They're trying to like assimilate different cultures food into the... Are they? Yeah. They're not. You do not get a bun-mee at the G. They've got like hot dog sushi's.
Starting point is 00:33:43 They've got like hot dog barmeys. Matt. Matt. Don't lie that, Alice, because we'll believe you. I do believe you. It's true. I haven't been to the footy in maybe seven or eight years, but my brother still goes a lot and he tells me things. My dear friend, Nikita, has spent a lot of the time at the football recently because her boyfriend likes the football.
Starting point is 00:34:06 And I just. And like, this is, like, one of the most brilliant, fabulous women I know. Yes. And seeing her in, like, a scarf. Isn't it just... Does she pretend to go for someone? Yeah. It's just...
Starting point is 00:34:20 I'm worried for her. Can you recall? The era of, like, that disgusting, like, headband hat that was, like, a polar fleece headband, and then, like, a crazy hair on top. Crazy hair on top. faux, fur, cap, top. What the fuck was that? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:43 That makes me want to die. It's crazy. I love hearing this side of, um, your opinions on football. This is great. It's just, I saw they had two of the lions at the grand final parade. And people who had changed, I sent you the video. You did.
Starting point is 00:35:05 I said, oh. Wait, is that what it was? I didn't understand what that was. So they had a parade to like introduce, like, all the sports people are in town. And then people were screaming, free eye, free eye, free. These hot fucking douchebags are such dips. Oh, that was when Lockheed Neil was in the float. That's the guy who punched the other guy.
Starting point is 00:35:36 Yeah. Oh. So they were like, they were trolling in. shouting for free oh so also did you see the sticker I sent back I did that about who is that guy I think that might be lucky Neil oh he's a clown he's a clown
Starting point is 00:35:48 okay so let me just let's go to the word parade okay you're doing a full take down famously not a fan of parades but I'm not a fan of parades when they have the level of spectacle of Mardi Gras
Starting point is 00:36:05 so how the fuck do you think I feel about a white cute with two fucking $10 Kmart fucking Bunnings chairs opened in the back with that guy that punched another guy at work and his friend sitting in their uniforms driving at two kilometers an hour while the most off-key chant is happening if your parade sounds and looks like that end it yeah end it right where's Let's get loud.
Starting point is 00:36:40 Yeah. Let's get a laugh. Yeah. I mean, fuck you. Yeah. As if not camp, not fun. As in, no gay people. Why would you go to that parade?
Starting point is 00:36:52 Mm. Ew. That's why they hate us so much. We know how to have fun. Well, here's the other thing. In across the pond, in the fascist state of America. New Zealand. The American parade shit.
Starting point is 00:37:09 that happens around sports and shit is crazy and camp. They love the campery of that kind of shit. They would have teased that yute up with some crepe paper. Yeah. They'd have been like a Miss USA like pageant contestants sitting on the hood of the car in a red, white and blue bikini. And she's been looking forward to it ever since she won that crown. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:35 Because that's part of the prize package. Absolutely. So you have people who really, want to be there. And that folding chair from Bunnings would have been a throne. Yeah. Like, bejeweled with like a local tractor business's favorite gears.
Starting point is 00:37:49 And they would have been wearing the Mayfile queen hats. Yeah. And people would be like, real. Real! Yeah. And they would have been like, you know, a threat of an active shooter. Like all of this stuff would have added some drama. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:06 And pageantry. And in Australia, he sat on the. back of a youth and people are like, Ray! Okay, what about this? What about this? In the mid-afternoon sun. I think it is,
Starting point is 00:38:18 it is clear that we're attempting the Super Bowl spectacular, which one more thing on that, contrary to what I was saying before, is the Super Bowl could give a shit about the audience there. It's about the show. Yes, yeah. Which the sightlines are not for the people in the room. Absolutely not.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Or the content of that show. No. Um, but when does Australia start to sell ad space during the granny for millions of dollars for like the celebrity like laden 20 second ad for Tim Tams? Oh. Like why hasn't that started to happen? I think it is the biggest advertising night of the year, I will say. Oh, okay. But, um.
Starting point is 00:39:07 But there's no celebrity. There's some celebrity. There's not like... Super Bowl ads is an annual event. Yeah, it's not like Paul Rudd was jumping out of like a Crem Fresh. Yeah. Being like, buy it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:20 But I think it is the biggest ad night. But yeah, there's already so much. I saw Steve Bishemi dressed as an alien. Oh, there we go. What? Yeah, he was like on his mother ship, like telling all these aliens about Telstra or something. Oh, God. I don't...
Starting point is 00:39:35 Was that Steve Bissemi? Yeah, did you see that ad? That has been around, but I didn't think that was him. No, Steve Bishamie, yeah. Oh. Yeah, it is. Well, I'm furious. Yeah, but I guess like at the Super Bowl, they unveil a big ad, don't they?
Starting point is 00:39:53 Oh, my God, it's huge. It's like the first time you see it. It's like, secret. It's like, yeah. Cinema trailers, like Marvel things. Yeah. The big, big, big thing. It's just.
Starting point is 00:40:06 Okay, but I do want to say, and we, we experienced this together. the music video for party by Trois Fibarne, which I just rewatched recently. Oh, why? I was like, this is actually Australian excellence. Yeah. This is someone actually fucking doing the thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:28 Because that video is so cunty and incredible. Yes, it is. And we've been deprived. She is going to be the Princess of Pop. Yeah. Trilina. Yeah. Yeah, that's all I have to say.
Starting point is 00:40:41 I just am like the faggotry and femininity kind of vibe of Troy is incredible. Yeah. And having that happen in the same kind of week as the grand final. Yeah, it's good. I like it. It was like a reprieve. What's your issue? Oh, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:40:58 I fucking hated it. What's your issue? I just feel like it's so colloying like, oh, look, this crazy thing I did now. That's what music videos are. Spectacle! No, but it's just, it doesn't feel... You're encouraging the t-shirt.
Starting point is 00:41:13 No, it doesn't feel... It doesn't feel authentic. It isn't. It's artifice. No. I just don't believe it. You want a teetail on the head playing your wife? No, I don't. What do you want?
Starting point is 00:41:26 I want period accurate haircuts and no one in that film clip had for period accurate haircuts. Well, you're not going to like it. I didn't like it. Just. Period accurate hair. I mean, I did, but like, no, I did. It's sickening. Are you kidding me?
Starting point is 00:41:46 And like, that's Madonna's song. What's that doing in there? It's called sampling. I know that it's called sampling. I've been having Weathers' original samplers for years. No, not Wethers original. Whitman's. Fuck, fuck.
Starting point is 00:42:03 Start the podcast again. Hi, my name is Lisa Schiz. And I'm Zellamoon. Yeah, that video is for. fucking incredible. It is. It's cool. It is.
Starting point is 00:42:13 I just think that that aesthetic was so hot and matched his weird little prince vibe. Yes. I also just like, I don't know. I feel like the hot people that Troy puts in music videos aren't ever ugly hot. They're just hot. Hot, hot. And like that guy who's like... He put us in a music video.
Starting point is 00:42:44 Yeah, but we're just smoking hot. Smoking. Do you know what I mean? I do. Like, yeah, and I don't know. Yeah. Like, I mean, obviously, it's incredible. It's incredible.
Starting point is 00:42:57 And it's a real, like, um, like I applaud the gamble because that couldn't have been cheap. No. And that is like, to get Vok and Sir Ian McCallin in there, like, can only pull those kind of favors and spectacle, you know. It feels like the country is. music video I've seen in a very long time. Yeah. Like, I have not, music videos have been kind of in the back burner for a while. And that, if I was like, you know, Arameen and seeing that, I'd be like, are you fucking
Starting point is 00:43:29 kidding me? You can do this? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's sick. Yeah. True.
Starting point is 00:43:34 True. I just think as well, the way that he in his videos has betrayed male sexuality, specifically there's like a clip in this music video which you should go and watch which is all set in like a medieval kind of swords and sandals kind of not vibe
Starting point is 00:43:53 fantasy vibe but the way that he portrays the guy that he's hooking up with there's like a booty dance moment where the guy is like got his ass out and he's kind of like doing this fay little gay dance and it just feels
Starting point is 00:44:12 like it's sexy in this really femi way that feels important and cool because it's like sometimes there's this like oh like gay like sex like it's all oily and rough and da da da and i think what he does really well is have this kind of fagginess that's like but fagginess that isn't like deprived of its sexuality and sensuality it's not like those two things have to be be separate. Important question. Is Troy fake horny or real horny? I think he's fake horny in one way.
Starting point is 00:44:55 I think he does have a real sexuality, but I don't think we've ever seen it. Yeah. Like I don't think it's the sexuality of his choreographer, of his directors. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I did really like the dance move of them like stomping around. Yeah, which has become his signature because he's working with those two choreographers, because they had that in the other one. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:14 Yeah. I think that's cool to have like a signature dance style as well. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Like very Gaga. Yeah. Very Madonna to have like this is going to recur through some of my work.
Starting point is 00:45:24 Yeah. This era. I just think as well like him taking some good lessons from Charlie. Charlie. Um, yeah, I don't know. I'm into it. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:36 I wish. I wish Kylie had worked a little harder for that. Yeah. For that queer vibe. Yeah. True. And looked into the camera and said, Don't beat your fucking wives, you piece of shit.
Starting point is 00:45:58 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Tell me why did she do the locomotion, but there wasn't a train. She'd come out in a train. Come on, baby, do the locomotion. Yeah. Maybe we should do that as the woman from Barbarian.
Starting point is 00:46:17 Come on, baby. Do the locom. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Anyway, I will say, I'll do it at Molly's. I loved watching everyone excited about Kylie.
Starting point is 00:46:27 Yeah. That was fun. The city has been absolutely effervescent the last two days. Yeah. So many people in town. What? It's just so nice. It is.
Starting point is 00:46:41 It's a good vibe. Yeah. Yeah. Also, spring has sprung. We're into it now. I don't know. I think you were a bit too harsh, but... Wait, what did you think?
Starting point is 00:46:50 About Kylie. Yeah. I thought it was quite good. I want to be like Kylie. Go on. I thought that she did quite a good queer representation. There were a lot of queer performers on stage with her. With them, their face is completely hidden.
Starting point is 00:47:05 No, well, the thing was that they actually changed costume too, and they came out of their blue morph suits. They came out like little butterflies from their cocoo. Because I think it was the Sydney Dance Company Who was doing all of the dancing And I recognised a few people that I knew on the stage And I know that they are queer So I think that was good
Starting point is 00:47:25 See him, he's gay Well Matt, I appreciate that Well We'll be right No, just joking Matt, do you want to do the apocalypse? But I am a straight guy You're like that.
Starting point is 00:47:42 I don't have an opinion about that, really. Thank you. Straight. Just a guy. Obviously, Matt, when I'm hanging shit on all straight people, it's not you. Oh, I can be part of that. People like you. Exactly like me.
Starting point is 00:47:58 I can do the apocalypse. Maybe it could be, um, it could be that giant football. Oh. That's bouncing around the world. Ah. Wait, does someone do a specky? Yeah. A giant.
Starting point is 00:48:13 There's a giant? Maybe they, maybe they, maybe, maybe, maybe Kylie wants a new sort of cosmetic procedure to make her a little bit taller. Uh-huh. And they inject her with a new serum. And she accidentally becomes ginormous. Oh. A gigantic woman. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:32 And she also gets filled with rage as this serum takes over her body, like the Hulk. Like Red Hulk. Yeah. The president. Or like She-Hulk, the lawyer. Yes. And then she picks up that football and just starts kicking it at everything. That'll be good.
Starting point is 00:48:50 He destroys the whole world. Matt, that's really creative. Thank you. Thank you for your candor. Okay, okay, that's good. We'll be ready. I'll be ready. Hello.
Starting point is 00:49:23 Hello. And welcome back, listen. That's time. Okay, it's time for us to decide which hors d'oeuvre goes into the bunker. Hoarderve? Yeah. I love that. Yeah, do you like that one?
Starting point is 00:49:35 Hor d'Ur. Yeah. Okay, can you use it in a sentence? Pass me with the hors d'oeuv. We're having this as hors d'oeuvre. Hauders? Could you spell? The hors d'oeuv.
Starting point is 00:49:48 No. No, that's Matt's fun challenge. Matt, you spell hors d'oeuvre. Yeah. W. W. It comes on d'oeuvres. D.
Starting point is 00:50:03 D. D. Hors devourous. V. V. R. E. Oh, it's hoarse devourous.
Starting point is 00:50:11 It comes from the French. It means small bat. And it's otherwise known as. Entree. Appetizer. Or starter. For estada. Outside the meal. What do you make of when they ask you at a restaurant?
Starting point is 00:50:28 Would you like that to come out first? Would you like it all at once? I think it is showing of the restaurant. Oh, go on. Because, so I went to a very fancy dinner this week and we had... At cumulus. At cumulus. Which was really fabulous.
Starting point is 00:50:45 Like, it was actually so great. Wait, who did that one? Is that Heston? I think it is Heston Blumenthal. Oh. Celebrity restaurant. Oh. What's Poe doing?
Starting point is 00:50:56 Can I go to a Poe restaurant? I like Poe. It's pronounced fur. Fuck. Oh. But like, I didn't get asked at fucking Cumulus. Like, oh, would you like it altogether? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:51:13 Oh, you think it's tacky. Yes. Because it's like, you tell me. You tell me. I'm at your restaurant. Yeah. How do you want me to eat it? I want you to put it all in a bucket and just put it next to the table and I'll slop it out like a little truffle pig.
Starting point is 00:51:27 Yeah. Yeah. God, that was me last night eating that Angry Jack's after the gig. Would you like the fries first? No, in the bag. Lop on. But can I say, I got, just one. I got home.
Starting point is 00:51:44 As I was like in the shower taking off my makeup, I was like, you know what? It's midnight. I'm not going to kook. I would like a Hunger Jack's Rebel Wopper delivered to my house. And so that's what I ordered. And then by the time the food came, I was on my couch playing Graveyard Keeper 2 with a face mask on. And it's like, ooh, at any moment now, the food shall arrive.
Starting point is 00:52:04 And then they left it at the front gate. So I had to drop out. At 12.30 at night in my like pajamas with the fucking face mask on. Oh, as soon as she had become the cryptkeeper. Yes. Did you say you got chippies? Yeah, I got... A Coca-Cola?
Starting point is 00:52:22 Yeah. And a Rebopper. A vegan reba wopper. A vegan rebecca. To an additional serving of onion rings. Oh. The Hungry Jax's onion rings are so good. The same.
Starting point is 00:52:34 All of Hungry Jax is so good. Yeah. They've done a great job with that place. Yeah. Vegetarian burger. It's really good. Yeah. It's so young.
Starting point is 00:52:40 I used to be such an avowed McDonald's sand. that was like a young teen being like obviously McDonald's Vela but then I just I would never look back now Yeah Yeah oh no Also just like who is buying those weird little snack pops at McDonald's
Starting point is 00:53:04 You know that in the Maccafe They have those like tri-coloured Neapolitan snack pop things Oh I don't know I just cake Yeah, it's like a little cake in a sphere Kind of like
Starting point is 00:53:16 Yeah It looks like almost like a mochi But it's not It sounds like a good order It makes me mad Like the McCaffee stuff Just sat there all day Yeah
Starting point is 00:53:28 It's So what did you have at the cumulus Wow Oh yeah Let's go back to fine dining Um Fine So
Starting point is 00:53:36 Dining Here's your food Fine Is everything alright? It's fine It's fine It's time. As intended.
Starting point is 00:53:50 So I sat. Did you have a big coat? No, no big coat. Where did you put your purse? Did you have one of your little hangers? We had the entire room. So I just lay my bag across a wall. You guys are in the back.
Starting point is 00:54:03 Away from the... Yeah, basically. We were definitely isolated. No, but I sat down and then there was a pre-printed, like, special event menu. Yeah. Which I was like, oh-oh. Like mine isn't specific to vegetarian.
Starting point is 00:54:20 Yeah. But when they came around to take like the first round of drink orders or whatever, I was like, oh, I'm vegetarian. She was like, oh, that's fine. No problem. We'll just bring alts for everything. Yeah. So, okay, fab.
Starting point is 00:54:31 So my first entree or, well, when I think order, I think more like it's on a platter. You got to eat with your fingers. Yeah. You can't eat an entree with your fingers. No. But it was this gorgeous little like spread of something with like, but two pieces of asparagus laid across it. And not the full piece, of course, just like two inches.
Starting point is 00:54:58 Seven. Yeah. Which I always, like I'm just not a fine diner. Like that's just not my, you know, area of interest. Back to the trough, you see. Yeah. But I was like, all right, well, like, who knows? But it was so delicious and, like, incredible.
Starting point is 00:55:18 And then there was, like, some sauteed mushrooms that they brought out. And that was really good. Yeah. And then the main was this, like, quite beautiful nochi. But, of course, it was, like, five fucking pieces of, like, nochi. That's always crazy. It's so annoying to me. But it was amazing.
Starting point is 00:55:33 And then, like, some great roast potatoes. That kindly were actually vegetarian. Yeah. There's no duck fat. Yeah. Fucking fine dining is obsessed with turning vegetables into meat. Yeah. I cannot.
Starting point is 00:55:47 Yeah. So it was really good. But it did made me think. Did you walk out satiated? I did. Okay. That is amazing. That's real fine dining there.
Starting point is 00:55:57 Correct. Because it's like the places that are fine dining as an excuse to shortchange you. Yeah. Or like, we're going to make sure to profit. And you walk out and you're like, why did I just spend? Yeah. $150 or $200 to be like hungry. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:56:15 And it should be about like beautiful, interesting food and the craftsmanship there, but it's also a meal. Well, I also, as a fast eater, like, is me eating. The thing that fine dining can trick you into is to like take your time with the food that you're eating because it's smaller portions, but it comes out over like an hour and a half. And so you find that your brain has actual time to catch up with what you're eating and you end up being really full. Like you're like, fucking hell.
Starting point is 00:56:52 Like I just did a degastation and now I'm like full full. Yeah. And it's like with the wine pairing. So it's like you have this long leisurely dinner and like forces you to actually slow down and enjoy and think about the food you're eating. Yeah. says he's like a half Brussels sprout chart on a plate. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:57:12 The, okay, so something I, I don't like about fine dining slash like what happened to us the other day when we had that Beastie Girls dinner is like, I, I just, like, I, you don't want them to talk to you about it. Don't talk to me. I don't give his shit. Now what you're going to be eating is. And I'd like you to put it all in your mouth at one time. and then swallow it without a single chew.
Starting point is 00:57:39 Like, don't tell me what to do. I just want to eat the food. And I don't need to know what it is because here it is. And I will be eating it. So like it's fine. But would you say like they brought out like a, you know, steamed artichoke heart or whatever, artichoke.
Starting point is 00:57:58 Yeah. And you, they didn't talk to you and tell you that you need to just graze the inside of the petal with your teeth and leave the husk. behind. Yes. You would like that kind of instruction. I would like not to be served a trap. I would like to be treated with respect.
Starting point is 00:58:20 And to have food presented to me that is appropriate for consumption. Well, you know, sometimes things have cases. No. If someone has pistachios out in front of you, like, what is it? You're trying to get old shelter again? I can't be falling for this. Nice try. Oysters?
Starting point is 00:58:41 No. If I can't eat everything on this plate, I'm having it. But it's like... I can't eat the Barbie and the cake. It's like how, like, some cultures, like a lot of countries and traditional cuisine that, like, is eaten... With chopsticks is because the chef or the cook will chop everything up. to be ready for consumption. What do I need a knife for?
Starting point is 00:59:10 You had a knife when you were preparing the meal. Why is the steak half the size of the plate? It should be pre-cut into small slithers. You want to be baby? No. I just... What about a tamale? Why am I working for it?
Starting point is 00:59:24 Because sometimes it's to keep it fresh. No, I just like eating with chopper sticks. Pre-chopper! What about a tamale? I... Yeah. So it comes in the corn husk to keep it nice. and warm and ready.
Starting point is 00:59:38 And you get to unwrap at it at time of consumption. Yeah, I guess. So it's fresh. Do you know what? It's so funny that you say that, because I cooked with a cob of corn the other day. I was like one of the first time. What?
Starting point is 00:59:50 You always laugh. And I have so rarely cooked a cop of corn that my sister will cook with cobs of corn all the time. I love a cup of corn. And as I was peeling back that husk and chopping off the thing and thinking about how fucking annoying it was. I thought, no, lazy does this. If she can do it, I can do it.
Starting point is 01:00:13 And then I thought, I'm never doing this again. Yeah. I love corn. Yeah. That's the American in me. Creamed corn. Creamed corn. I fucking loved cream corn growing up.
Starting point is 01:00:24 Well, it's the most pre-prepared thing you can have. What do you mean? Like, it's already half digested. Oh, true. Yeah, but like, creamed corn, warmed up on the stove. Oh. Do you know, Zelda recently got feedback from one of our friends Who's saying, I loved your story about having the chocolate milk in the wine glass.
Starting point is 01:00:46 Yes. And I was like, what a funny thing to love. Yeah. Yeah. We all love Zelda's stories. Yeah. And creamed corn has added another incredible chapter to the book. You've never used corn before.
Starting point is 01:01:04 Zelda, on creamed corn. well that could just be its own book actually when they talked about burning down the library of Alexandria it was just a thousand and one unsold copies of Zelda's autobiography Zerler on cream porn I want to be that owl in Avatar but I'm just old and cranky and protecting my own books and secrets and they're all just you in various states holding various objects
Starting point is 01:01:33 on the cover on the inner flap Okay Now I want to be like Kylie What about I want to be like the princess of pop Okay We love you Kylie
Starting point is 01:01:49 Jesus Christ Sorry What do you look for in a Like cocktail party served on a platter So we've discussed the Galapagos total Yes
Starting point is 01:01:59 And talking about Aranchini Yes So when I was in Canada I was basically a freeloader on my husband's dime and my husband was there for the YMCA Global Conference which is being held at the downtown Cheriton Hotel and at the end of the conference everyone had worked very hard all week discussing all the things to come for the YMCA across the globe
Starting point is 01:02:32 and they the local host the Torontoians were like, we're going to, like, it's their job to host the big after party. And they chose what is the most Canadian thing we could host it at. Well, of course, the Hockey Hall of Fame, which is a, like, Ripley's, believe it or not style museum that has, like, the Stanley Cup and, like, all these different jerseys and, like, a locker room set up, looked in exactly like a locker room. And, like, all these, like, plexiglass displays.
Starting point is 01:03:06 of like hockey memorabilia and like puck throughout the ages. And like it's like a labyrinth of hockey stuff. And the, and I want you to imagine the people that maybe set up this hockey museum, what kind of lighting they might have put in that place. Yeah. Like they would have seen track lighting and been like, yes. But let's make it brighter and more directional.
Starting point is 01:03:32 And so this after party, which you had to walk through a, like, currently closed for the night shopping mall to get to this bottom floor where they gave you, like, three drink tickets, had quite a lot of hors d'oeuvres, and there was plentiful hors d'oeuvres, but they were also at a temperature that felt neither safe, nor appetizing. Oh, no.
Starting point is 01:04:02 Yeah, it was an interesting experience. bins. Lots of, but there was, it was an unyielding order of supply, which I think is really good. If you're going to have people walking around with little trays, I want them to be, like, thick and fast. Yeah. Because you know those events where they seem to have bought some kind of basic package? Yes.
Starting point is 01:04:27 And the catering just is like lacking. Oh, yes. And you're like, why is, why have they stopped? Yeah. Whereas I want to like pick my favorite. caterer waiter for the night and they know to come to me. You say caterwaiter? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:40 I want my favorite caterwaiters to be like, I just came from the kitchenette. And I've come straight to you. And I know the little pig bitch is going to you're going to empty half this tray, which will mean that my walking around time is minimized. Yeah, and it's not as heavy. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:04:56 And I'm going to say, what's that? What have you got here? Oh, what's it? Oh, take two. Let me just put my glass into someone else's hand and that's a certain. have you had, don't take five. There's always that person, all that group of people who just stand near the catering door.
Starting point is 01:05:10 Yeah, and just, you know, ravish the plate before they can get to anyone else as well. Yeah. Yeah, there's undecated parties. It's not good. What? Matt, survival of the fittest. All the closest to the door. Most loving it.
Starting point is 01:05:26 Matt, what did the Colobicus Island Turtle, um, Arancini get in under? What did we do? Was it appetizer? You haven't done appetises, have we? No, because that got it. Like, I do recall. We talked about Arancini for quite some time. We did.
Starting point is 01:05:46 But sure we haven't done which Arancini gets in? No. So we've got it Aroncini, do we? Yeah. I don't think we do. Yes. Yes, we do. Or if you look up Golpagus.
Starting point is 01:05:58 Turtle. I can't spell any of these words. G-U-L-U-G-A-L. G-A-L. Galop. It's definitely Galop. Hors to herbs. No, there's nothing about Galopagus or Arancini or turtles.
Starting point is 01:06:15 What? Is it tortoise? Mate. Ball? Look up ball. There's no tortoises either. Mate. What? You have made this up.
Starting point is 01:06:22 What are you talking? Barking lives in the Eadie episode. Yeah, we put in Arancini ball with Golbicus tortoise meat inside. Why is this one we remember? Okay, I'm going to sell you a few, a few ones I've looked up on recipes. Well, in Edie Centrics episode Maybe We've got
Starting point is 01:06:41 Reggie's bike a bar Oh yeah Women having the best night of their lives We've got high school production Of into the woods In the woods And under the woods And we've got lazy ventrilochus puppet
Starting point is 01:06:53 And we've also got A soda stream Oh god That's what Edie put in We kicked out that soda stream Yeah, we did Yeah Matt, look up soda stream
Starting point is 01:07:03 Who's updating this? We kicked it up because it You know Yeah We're participating in the boycott. Okay. Who's updating this spreadsheet? You.
Starting point is 01:07:15 Oh my God. Well, there's no... Cocktail meatballs. Hardin' balls. Soft, plump, juicy meatballs smothered in a sweet and sour sauce. Devoured in minutes. By, it depends on the person. Cheese and garlic crack bread.
Starting point is 01:07:30 I can't think of a better centerpiece for a party. Centipiece. Your guess will swarm to whatever you put this on. Great for making your head. You're prepared, ready for baking and store it in the fridge of freezer, then pop it in the oven. What about a cross-dini? Still my most requested party food.
Starting point is 01:07:48 I've lost count how many times I've been asked to make this. Wait, what do you think crack bread is? Crack bread. Cheese and garlic crack bread. Okay, do you want to know what? Oh, it's like a diced up bread. Like a pull-a-part. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:08:05 And it's just like put. butter and it's garlic bread. Can I just say that like a mini quiche? I fucking love a mini quiche. I'm over keesh. No, I love it. Keish is dead to me. What are we doing with quiche?
Starting point is 01:08:21 Egg. It's just so much egg. I'm just as a, like, it's generally the only vego option. And I'm like, can they even? What about crispy parmesan roasted potatoes? That sounds good. Yeah. salami cheese rolls.
Starting point is 01:08:39 I like parmesan on vegetables. What do you like? Parmesan on any vegetables. Smoked salmon appetizer bites. Who is this character? Cheese and bacon, potato skins. You know what I don't fuck with? What?
Starting point is 01:08:54 Is like cucumber in place of the cracker. Look at that. Yeah, no, that's not. Like a deviled cucumber. No, like the slice of cucumber is the vessel for serving the little spread. Do you know what is good though sometimes? Iceberg. lettuce in place of the tortilla.
Starting point is 01:09:09 Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh. That's fun. Oh my God. Sausage rolls? Sanchoo Bough. What is a pig in the blanket?
Starting point is 01:09:19 It's like a cocktail Frankfurt then rolled in like a puff pastry. Wait. Maybe that's my choice. Can we put in Centro Bough? Sancho Bough is great. I fucking love Cancho Bauer. Yeah. You can send out like some Sancho Bauer.
Starting point is 01:09:35 It's like the mini iceberg lettuce. Stay crispy movie popcorn? A recent addition to my most in-demand recipes. I took bags and bags of this to a gathering, and everyone went mad for them, especially the kids. The best part is the popcorn stays crispy, even when dousing with butter. If you like your movie popcorn was slightly sweet touch too,
Starting point is 01:10:00 try my lightly sweet, salty popcorn. And if it's Christmas time, you must, Christmas popcorn candy. Yeah. Bucket of prawns with dipping sauce. A bucket of prawns. Is that a shrimp cocktail? I guess so.
Starting point is 01:10:20 What's a shrimp cocktail? I guess it's that. Or is that a shrimp in a cocktail? That's just prawns with individual dipping sauce. A prawn cocktail. Char grilled vegetable platter? So many of these things are just a meal. Vegetable.
Starting point is 01:10:38 in meat or meat wrapped in vegetables. What about corn chips? Is that an order? With some saffat. Like the Madeira ones where they had the individual corn chip got out on the hors d'oeuvre platter with like some shit on top.
Starting point is 01:10:55 Yeah. And I was like, that's not it. We put that in the bunker, didn't we? Oh, no. Guacamole. Can prawns on a Dorado chip. That went into the bonker. That's unkind.
Starting point is 01:11:13 Okay, what about... Something different from that place. A gutted cobloaf with like some kind of creamy... Sorry, so they'll just open up a bucket of Red Bull. It's been quite a... Do I'm gonna split in half with you? No, no, no, no, I can't. Okay.
Starting point is 01:11:31 Why not? I just can't... I think it's inappropriate to see Red Bull out of its can. Oh, I actually... So agree. Like, I only need to know her. dressed up. Concealed.
Starting point is 01:11:42 But also that's why the big can is too big. Because, you know, it's sloshing around. Yeah, I... It's huge. It's, mama, that's huge. Wait, how big is this? It's too big. 473 milliliters.
Starting point is 01:11:54 That's almost half a liter of Red Bull. Can I just say, what do you think about people who don't write milliliters with like small L, small M big L? Freaks me out? Yeah. It should be small M big L. Mm-hmm. That is what it is.
Starting point is 01:12:08 Mm-hmm. What about the S? Mils. No. Millsy. It's like fucking obviously. How often you're writing one mill? Every other time it's Mills.
Starting point is 01:12:24 This woman, I catered a surprise party for a friend earlier this year. And amongst a whole table of advertisers, this was the first to go. Make it and you'll understand the name. Pig Out Salsa. Do you want to know what's in Pig Out Salsa? Yes. Pig out salsa You say pig
Starting point is 01:12:45 I don't credit for the recipe or name It's also nine months overdue It's a copycat of a chorizo black bean at corn salsa I had at a Mexican restaurant in Coffs Harbor Northern New South Wales in Australia But I wanted I visited on a girls weekend away In fact it was the only time we left the beautiful beachfront holiday rental
Starting point is 01:13:06 We stayed at other than a 20 mile walk Down the beach fly and flop holidays got to love them so quite simply we ordered a chorizo salsa as a starter we loved it my friends said i should make it so i did and then it took me nine months to share it here smiley face emoji this is a terrific salsa for scooping with corn chips or spooning over a simple grilled piece of protein i usually serve salsa with fish and chicken because the flavor is more mild than red meats, especially a salsa like this, which is loaded with chorizo. Charizo, chorizo.
Starting point is 01:13:48 How I love thee. It's the other bacon. I may even dare to say it's better than bacon. Winky face emoji. All those deep red juices. Okay. Let's call it what it is. Fat.
Starting point is 01:14:03 That the chorizo leeches when the pan fry forms. part of the dressing for the pig out salsa. Though there is an extra dressing I will make as well to freshen up the overall flavors. Not much. You don't mean that much because the chorizo packs a serious flavor punch. It's mainly the vinegar I want to freshen it up. Avocado would go terrific with this.
Starting point is 01:14:28 As with cucumbers. I made this with black beans because it is part of the spirit of a Mexican salsa. But any beans would be great, though. if you're planning to use it as a salsa for scooping. Stick with small beans. Otherwise, it could be a bit of balancing act to keep them on your chips. Nagy X.
Starting point is 01:14:46 P.S. I don't use Mexican chorizo because we don't get them here in Australia, but both Spanish and Mexican chorizo do pack a similar flavor punch. I'm pretty sure most people outside of Mexico wouldn't know the difference in flavor. I wouldn't, at least. Not serve like this. So any chorizo.
Starting point is 01:15:06 would be great in this. As long as it's not raw chorizo, i.e. like, sausages, like raw sausages, as opposed to cured chorizo, which is like salami. I, I, you can be eaten without cooking. Oh, gosh. Did you enjoy that? Yes. I did.
Starting point is 01:15:30 Okay. Okay. What's her name? Who is that? That was Nagy. Nagy. Nagy. Where did you read that from?
Starting point is 01:15:39 Recipe Tin Eats. We're putting in Nagy from Recipe Tin Eats. Nagy Mehashi. And she can make the hors d'oeuvres that we desire in the bunker. Do you think that that sounds good? I don't know how to answer that question. Did you like this woman? I liked finding out in the final sentences that she was meant to be Australian.
Starting point is 01:16:06 I've often. and thought about eating this delicious food. Yeah. Yeah. Let's lock it in. What is it? I don't know. Pig out chorizo salsa.
Starting point is 01:16:24 Yeah. Big out. Big out. No, it can't be that. Oh, my God. Do you know why? Yeah. It's just not a grab-it-and-go kind of girl.
Starting point is 01:16:38 Mm-hmm. One of my hovering a salsa, you heard her, she knows about the issues balancing beans. What about cheese, cheese stick? Go on. In batter. Cheese stick in batter. Yeah. Go on.
Starting point is 01:16:51 No, like, fucking deep-fried cheese stick. Sorry? Like a mozzarella stick. Yeah, mozzarella stick. Oh, okay. Thank you, Matt. Chase stick in batter. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:17:04 Mozrella stick. And you could dip it in perhaps some aole. I love it. of that, but when they harden up. Oh, I hate that. They've got to be fresh. Yeah. Wait, I also sometimes wonder, like, is it
Starting point is 01:17:20 the, like, stringers in there? Or is it, I mean, I know. Let me shake me any way you want me as long as you eat me, because I'm all natural cheese. I can't imagine that. Yeah. You know what I had?
Starting point is 01:17:38 okay so my I went when I told you I went to visit my friend Tristan up in yes in Buckin yeah and he loves my friend Tristan has an incredible ability which is that like he should have been in another life like a mogul that goes on home shopping and tells people to buy things oh my god because he just loves to talk about the benefits of a product yeah and it will just be like but it's enthralling yeah and so we're like midway through a really hardcore drinking episode. And then he's like, oh my God. We've just gotten these incredible spinach and ricotta.
Starting point is 01:18:19 It's like a like a pillow. What's it? The tortellini. Oh, wait a what? What's the pasta pillow? Yeah, tortellini. Tortolini. Yeah, or ravioli.
Starting point is 01:18:32 Ravioli. Yeah. It's like a deep fried crumbed ravioli. And we put that in the ninja air friar. and it comes out and it's absolutely delicious. And I swear to God, at like 12 o'clock at night, it was the most incredible thing. Imagine that. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:18:52 That sounds delicious, no? Yes. Serve with a hot chippole mayonnaise. Yeah. Mate, incredible. Wait, so what are you saying? He just described this and it sounded good when you were drunk. And then he served it.
Starting point is 01:19:06 And then he made it. Okay, right, right, right. Yeah, oh no, no, no. There was a cavalcade of delicious. And he's like, and you know what the fabulous thing is? This is just a Cole's home brand. You can buy this here, so cheap. But it just is delicious.
Starting point is 01:19:21 You know, some people would make this. It's just easier to get it pre-done. Wow. Some things, it's worth getting pre-done. I get these, like, meal kits every now and then because it's just like decision to fatigue. And one of them that I had this week Was like a baked nochi
Starting point is 01:19:41 But what about this? Open the yoki Put it in a baking dish Some olive oil Put it in the oven That was it Yonky bowls And then like
Starting point is 01:19:53 I made some like other veggies And like mix it all together With some cheese and cream and bits But there was no like the yonokie did not touch water Oh I like that It was baked Nogki.
Starting point is 01:20:08 Yeah. Yeah. It was good. It was a bit dry. Yonki is so hard to do. Yeah. I have never gotten it right at home. Really?
Starting point is 01:20:18 No. I should make you my like homemade yoki. Oh? Go on. But what if it's not? What if it's tough? Is it fluffy? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:26 Is it really fluffy? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I trust you. I should. I haven't made it in ages. It's just from like a recipe book that I got years ago.
Starting point is 01:20:35 Yeah, I must. Because it's, I think that's the hardest, the hardest part. Matt, are you laughing because this is just so entertaining? You can't believe that this is episode 735. I can't believe people are sleeping to this. Wake up! Wake up! Your life's going up!
Starting point is 01:20:54 Roon! Um... I would love if that actually works somewhere else. Hello. Hello, Alexa. Wake her up. Wake it up. Let's wake it up.
Starting point is 01:21:07 You know, since you told me about wake it up, I hear everyone saying wake it up. I know, and it's such a like nothing statement. Yeah. But it can just slot in anywhere. Yeah. I was listening to like Delta's pod with Dawn this week. Oh. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:21:24 And Dawn said it like 54,000 times. Dawn said that. Yeah. But she's such an original thing. I know. I don't know why she's on my list because she was negative about me. True, that's right. I'm funny.
Starting point is 01:21:40 Just unyielding negativity. Wait, does that mean that you're on Kylie's list? What? Oh, no. Yeah. I have to clarify, I really like Kylie Minogue. I think she's got a promising future. But yeah, during the season of drag race, Dawn was just so rude.
Starting point is 01:21:59 And it's really tricky because it's like, I don't know, I felt like suddenly I was in like an off-year tree getting glared up. by the person that works there. It's a familiar feeling. Or like a danger field. Oh, yeah. Like, I don't have, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:16 Oh, it's hard. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Which or d'urve? Which or d'urve? No, no. Why don't you tell me?
Starting point is 01:22:25 I've tried. What? I am trying. Well, what was it? I said, put in that woman. Oh, go on. You say what I said. Because I was asking which o' durve, and you're trying to,
Starting point is 01:22:36 end it. Yeah. Pick an hors d'oe. Oh. Okay. Um. I want to be like Kylie. I think what hors d'oe.
Starting point is 01:22:47 Okay. Well. For fuck sake. Choose one. Yeah. Why aren't you reading a long... Matt, put a fun music under me reading that long, long passage. Wait a no.
Starting point is 01:22:58 Just the track. Let me pull up TikTok. No, just choose an order. Okay. Okay. Um. I said before, San Troy Bough.
Starting point is 01:23:06 Sanchoo bow. I want vegetarian version Sancho bough. Not the pork mince one, obviously. Okay. Lock it in, Eddie. But it's the one from Viet Rose. Viet Rose.
Starting point is 01:23:17 They might have moldy tofu buffs? All right. Yes. But you can't roll the dice. It's got some moldy tofu. Viette rose, sancho bough, it's really good. Yeah. Oh, it's good.
Starting point is 01:23:30 When you get it delivered at home, though, that's quite strange. Yeah. Open up a plastic tapeware container. It's got sensui bow. on it. It's weird. Yeah. Yeah. Not everything is made to be delivered.
Starting point is 01:23:41 No. Gotta get out more. Okay, we'll be right bit. This is a good episode. This is a great. This is a really good episode. You've got it to edit down to me. Welcome back.
Starting point is 01:23:57 Hello. It's us still. Wake up. Hey. Oh, no. We've talked to over each other. Should we just start again? Yeah, let's study.
Starting point is 01:24:03 Okay. Hi, my name is Lacey Susan. Hi, I'm Zelda Moon. And this is death. to everyone. Okay, Lazy. Our second and final topic for today, won't you let us know?
Starting point is 01:24:16 Oh, yeah. What it is. I will indeed. I have been asked by a listener. I got a message from Andrea Smith. Andrea Smith says, Hello, lazy, Susan. I message Zelda.
Starting point is 01:24:33 But you sometimes say no one messages you. Hey. So. She did message me. I was going to read out some of these messages. Which member of the babysitters club will be in the bunker? Thanks, you are brilliant. Thank you, Andrea.
Starting point is 01:24:48 That is literally the only message about this pod that I have ever received. You're the top of my list. I just wish you hadn't sullied it with such a stupid question. Wait, can I just, look, did you know that Andrea Waterbottle works at a Steinens School. Oh. Yeah. Do you hear that, man?
Starting point is 01:25:11 Oh, good. Okay. I don't know her. Oh, wow. I don't know her. Okay. So I know you don't know what this is. I'm going to give you the roundup of each of the gals.
Starting point is 01:25:23 Okay. Okay. So there's a club. They're all babysitters. Okay. So the founding members of the babysitters club. Yeah. Is Christy Thompson.
Starting point is 01:25:34 She's the president. She's an athletic, outgoing and bossy, tomboy who comes up with the idea for the club. She wears baseball caps, jeans and sneakers. No, I'm not interested. Oh, you hate lesbian women? No, I hate bossy boots. Bossy boots, Christy.
Starting point is 01:25:50 Okay, then there's Mary Ann Spire. She's the secretary. A shy, kind, an organized bookworm. Who is a great listener? And then there's Claudia Kishi. She's the vice president, a creative, artistic trendsetter with a bold sense of style who loves junk food hidden in her bedroom
Starting point is 01:26:10 the club headquarters that sounds pretty good and then there's Stacey McGill treasurer a sophisticated chic and mature city smart dresser who is brilliant at math and manages type 1 diabetes
Starting point is 01:26:25 oh Claudia keep that junk food away from Miss Stacy you don't want her having an attack okay then we have later members Dawn! Dawn Schaefer, alternate officer, a free-spirited vegetarian and environmentalist who moves from California.
Starting point is 01:26:47 Then there's Mallory Pike, an avid reader and writer from a large family who wears glasses and braces. And then there's old Jesse Ramsey, no title, a talented ballet dancer and musician who is mature and joins the club alongside Mallory Pike. Okay.
Starting point is 01:27:08 Wait, is that it? Yeah. Okay. I'm tantalized by option two and then the vegetarian. Right. Okay, let's, I just need to find... Babysitters club. Do you help with the people that you mean?
Starting point is 01:27:25 So I just, I don't know a lot about how this club formed. Uh-huh. But it seems to have a very, like, strong kind of political machinations happening within it. They actively work as babysitters? The babysitters club forms a local babysitting business and club where parents can call one phone number during specific meeting times to reach multiple available babysitters at once. And it's located in Stony Brook, Connecticut. And the purpose is to solve parents' struggles of calling multiple sitters individually by pulling their availability into a centralized service. The efficiency.
Starting point is 01:28:07 Okay. Let's find out what the conflict is. Parents have been struggling. You know, there's a babysitter, oh, like a house sitter at my brother's house right now. Yeah. Isn't that weird? Houseitters club.
Starting point is 01:28:17 Come live in my house for a month. The central conflict of the babysitter club revolves around middle school growing pains, balancing a business with close friendships and personal struggles. Each book focuses on an individual member dealing with a heavy real-life challenges, such as Stacey's diabetes, glorious grief over her grandmother
Starting point is 01:28:35 and Christie's struggle with control. and her parents' divorce. Or interpersonal friendship dramas. The club members frequently experience cliquish friction, jealousy, and arguments when someone tries to make outside friends. Don't talk to her. She's not a baby, you know?
Starting point is 01:28:54 Pursue different hobbies or managing scheduling conflicts. You'd love this book. External client and family struggles. The girls routinely have to solve complex, behavioral, medical, and emotional problems for their young babysitting child. or navigate strict expectations from their own parents. There's a podcast about it called The Babysitters Club Club.
Starting point is 01:29:17 That's good. What were the most problematic storylines of the babysitters club? Mary Ann's makeover, where everyone was mean to Marianne, especially Dawn for her haircut and makeover. Wait, Dawn was the vegetarian. I was rooting for you. Stacey's mistake, where the girls are mad at each other over random things, including where Marianne breaks out of character and mentions Dawn's fears.
Starting point is 01:29:37 just to impress Stacey's friends in New York. Mary Ann in the middle. Sorry. Where Mallory and Jessie are... Mary Ann in the middle. Where Mallory and Jessie are having dispute over Mallory going to boarding school, not to mention that Jesse was nothing like herself and very mean and out of character. I know she eventually apologises to Mallory after Mary Ann got the two of them to talk,
Starting point is 01:29:58 but still. That blurb isn't particularly impartial, but that's okay. Christy's worst idea where Christie is forcing poor Jesse to choose between the babysitter's club and ballet class, where Marianne and Claudia are mad at each other, mainly because Claudia brought in art supplies instead of letting Mallory's siblings play board games, and then Claudia feels Marianne acts better than her mainly because she knows what Mallory's siblings, what to do. I think Christy and The Secret of Susan is very problematic because of its portrayal of autism. It is extremely outdated in the terminology when Christy calls her the R word.
Starting point is 01:30:37 which at the time was a word used for people with autism, but now it's very derogatory term. And also how Christie is trying to fix her so she can go to normal school. Then there is the obvious stereotyping of Susan as this nonverbal wonderchild who's hyper-focused on playing piano. As someone with autism,
Starting point is 01:30:55 this always is my least favorite book of the series because it made autism feel like it needs a cure and fixing, as well as how kids with autism act. Yeah, wow. Mallory in the middle. using the R word. Mallory Pire. Mallory Pire?
Starting point is 01:31:12 What if there was just like a 40-year-old man that wanted to join the babysitters club? How do they navigate that? That's right. And Jeff. Who's Jeff? The new treasury of the babysitters club. He's 40 years old.
Starting point is 01:31:25 Oh, all right. He's just moved to town. And once he's... He's looking for work. He's been unemployed since the factory closed. He has great organizational skills and could bring a lot to this company. Mallory, I like it. I like your new hair tie, but I prefer your hair down.
Starting point is 01:31:41 Shut up, Jeff! You're always saying stuff like that. I need another shift, Mallory. My children are being taken away from me, and I can't afford the alimony. Jeff, you know the babysitter's club isn't like that. You can't steal all the shifts. Jeff, why do you keep requesting more meetings to be held in my bedroom? Jeff!
Starting point is 01:32:06 It's because my basement is being fumigated. I need to sleep here. We're having a slumber party to build morale in the team. Now cough up some of that sweet fast food you keep hidden in your fucking room. I'm starving over here. One of you will braid my hair
Starting point is 01:32:23 while we discuss diabetes. Gloria! You've got type one. I've got type two. Christy. Why you like this. You are our president. You need to show leadership in these dark times.
Starting point is 01:32:36 Now cut off my leg. I brought the saw. The Babysitter's Club goes full yellow jackets. Yes. Wait, is Jeff played by Elijah Wood? Yes. Season two of witchie girls would be Susan and Zelda join a babysitter's club. Yeah, that's good.
Starting point is 01:32:58 For one episode. Oh, that's good. They just freaked out. We kill the baby. And replace it with like a sentient onion or something. They'll never notice. Shaken. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:33:10 SIDS. Sorry. Baby sillis and SIDS. Oh, God. Sorry, I know that hitchclosh to have those guys in this chat with children. Can't joke about that. Does that why he's called Sid in Toy Story? What?
Starting point is 01:33:27 Because he was shaking. Enemy of childhood. Oh. Who's... Because he was shaking his baby. Shake him out baby. Shake him out, shake him out, shake him. baby.
Starting point is 01:33:39 Jesus. We're spiraling. Hi. Hello, my name is Lisa Susan. And I'm Zelda boom. And in the recording booth today we have matches. Hey, Matt. I quit.
Starting point is 01:33:53 Oh. Well, I suppose we'll have to start again then without you. Oh, hello. My name is Lacey Susan. And I'm Zelda Moon. And unfortunately, our producer has suffered from SPD, sudden producer death syndrome. Oh. Fucking hell.
Starting point is 01:34:11 What? Okay. Okay. So the sleepover club didn't have jobs, but the babysitters club does have jobs. The Fantastic Five solve mysteries. And I don't know. These ones feel like the most late stage capitalist, forcing women into the workplace before they're even done with their studies. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:34:36 And making tough decisions about creative. endeavors versus just getting food on the table. And using the R word. Yes. Not wise. No. They all sound problematic. Yeah. Who's who's the least problematic? The ballerina. I was just going to say, tell me more about this ballerina. Well, unfortunately, that's her entire persona. Jesse Ramsey. Jesse Ramsey. This R. Slash babysitters club. What? Do you dislike about Jesse Ramsey? Jesse effortlessly got all leading roles, even over older dancers. She was 11.
Starting point is 01:35:19 She would have been more believable if she sometimes suffered any sort of defeat or setback to work bars. She didn't get Peter Pan, said one person. I can't really think of anything I dislike about her, but I find myself continually questioning just how it's possible to get from school in Stony Brook to ballet class in Stanford and then back to Stony Brook all by 5.3rd. You raise some good points. I question how she even had time to be in the club and do babysitting gears. A pre-professional dancer is in the studio pretty much every day after week.
Starting point is 01:35:51 In the early books, she went twice a week. In everything changes, she got on a program that was six days a week and something like that and had to drop out of the club. She was also involved in some classes slash programs like synchronized swimming that met all the time, if temporarily. Ballet isn't mentioned in those cases. Ballet meets your year round, right? Do you know that there's a Netflix version of Babyseters Club from 2000 to 2001? Maybe we should watch this. No, that's 2020.
Starting point is 01:36:20 Oh, right, 20. They were sending out DVDs and they're... That's crazy. This looks so generic and shit. How quick she... I can't wait for the Riverdale reboot. What? No, I mean, like, when they do do it.
Starting point is 01:36:34 Oh, right. And it would be like succession. Hey, what's this? Boy Crazy Stacy? Boy Crazy Stacy! Who needs babysitting when there are boys around? She's meant to be the treasurer. She can't be doing that. Have you read Boy Crazy Stacy? I'm voting Stacy. Stacey McGill. She's boy crazy.
Starting point is 01:36:55 Is she relatable? She's a blonde trying to have it all. Spending two weeks at New Jersey Shore as mother's helpers. Mary Ann objects when Stacy neglects her. her babysitting duties after falling in love with Scott the lifeguard. Oh, getting ticked down by Scott. Look at Scott. He's got an open shirt at the beach.
Starting point is 01:37:17 She's going to get a tan. And her name is Anastasia Elizabeth Stacey McGill. Excuse me. And she was one of the four original, the fantastic four. Babe, put in Anastasia. Her first appearance in Christie's Great Idea, Stacey starts out the series in seventh grade and 12 years old until Logan likes Mary Ann when she joins eighth grade at Stony Brook Middle School.
Starting point is 01:37:40 She turns 13 sometime prior to Christy's Big Day. She is in eighth grade and 13 for the remainder of the series. God, she's in everything. Stacey's choice, which I assume it was about abortion, Stacey's Big Crush, Stacey and the cheerleaders, Stacey's lie, Stacy versus the Babysitters Club, Stacey and the Bad Girls, Stacey McGill's Super Sitter, Stacey's Broken Heart, Stacey the Math Whiz,
Starting point is 01:38:05 Stacey's secret boyfriend Stacey's ex-boyfriend Stacey McHill matchmaker Stacey's movie Stacey in the missing ring Oh they did mysteries Stacey in the history money Stacey in the mystery at them all
Starting point is 01:38:19 Stacey in the mystery at the empty house Your parents left Stacey in the haunted masquerade Stacey and the fashion victim Stacey in the Stolen hearts And then the Friends Forever series Stacey versus Claudia Stacey in the boyfriend track
Starting point is 01:38:35 Stacey's problem, which I assume is also still about abortion. Yeah. Best friend, oh, best friends with Claudia. Likes, pigs. Pigs is her number one like. Pigs, math, Mary Poppins, Bloomingdale's, snow, blueberry pancakes, sleeping late, shopping, and the city experience, going to museums and plays and walking around on crowded streets. Oh my God, her dislikes, doctors, her strict diet, and seeing people.
Starting point is 01:39:06 people throw up. She dislikes that. Yeah. Her nickname is Bootsie. She's got too many names. She's got like an old school pageant drag name. Wow. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:39:24 Can we put in Stacey? Yeah. All right. She lives, she used to live at 612 Fawcett Avenue. Okay. Oh, she was the diabetic. She was the diabetic? Sometime before she was diagnosed with her diabetes,
Starting point is 01:39:42 Stacey went into insulin shock at school and fell face first into tomato soup. She had to be taken away in an ambulance, which is mentioned in the truth about Stacey. Wait, I'm about to send you a photo that will cement her place in the bunker. Okay, Matt, do you have... Oh no, sorry, Matt, quit.
Starting point is 01:39:59 She learned how to surf and was in her car accident in California girls. Well, that couldn't have happened at the same time. Oh! She had her first kiss in Broadway. Boy Crazy Stacy with Toby while she was in C City. With Toby, she was meant to be with Scott. She's boy crazy, not Scott Crazy.
Starting point is 01:40:20 She has a pig collection in her room. Big collection. She has posters of New York at night, Empire seat building, and a map of Manhattan on the walls of her room. She had a poster of a kitten in a teacup given to her by air. Mary Ann Spire. Her curtains are lace. The bed is brass with a blue satin quilt. What the fuck?
Starting point is 01:40:38 She also has a second-hand bureau that's... Stacey and her mom painted white, a desk, and a flower patterned rung. She hangs framed paintings of a counterfeit Stacey bill by Claudia over her bed. It's large, red, white and blue bill with great sketch of her in the middle. She could see the living room from her bedroom in New York City. She has a clock radio in her room in Stacey and the Bad Girls. Can you look at the photo I sent now? Please.
Starting point is 01:41:06 Matt, what did you think about that photo? Oh, thumbs up. She's got bold fashion, but not bold enough to go up and say hi to people and see city at babysitters club go on vacation. There's a large beret. Yeah. Scott thought, I'll have some of that. Oh, I see what's on that beret. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:41:27 Stacey. Stacy, beautiful flowers by Stacey. Our favorite story in Perth. Wait, was that in Perth or Adelaide? Oh. Let me find. Shut up, beautiful flowers by Stacy. Beautiful Flowers by Stacy.
Starting point is 01:41:41 And if you're thinking of opening a florist, if your name's not Stacy, Matt, I'd suggest beautiful flowers bay, Michelle. But if you're setting drag, can you name yourself Beautiful Flowers by Stacy? Yeah. First name Beautiful Flowers by. The last name, Stacy.
Starting point is 01:41:56 Yes. God, if only. Please give it up for Beautiful Flowers by Stacy. Wait, I'm going to try it out, okay? Well, again, I'm going to try it out. You go. Hi, how are you? No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 01:42:16 Oh, yeah, what do I mean? If we were going to restart the Bunker. Oh, hi, my name is Lacey Susan. Hi, I'm Beautiful Flowers by Stacy. It's incredible. Yeah. It's as good as my husband's drag name, 9.30. Yeah, that's good.
Starting point is 01:42:31 And if those two did a show together, 930 and beautiful flowers by Stacy, I don't live. Get tickets now. Okay. So Stacey is in? Stacey's in. Please use her full name. Anastasia, Elizabeth.
Starting point is 01:42:50 Like, brackets. Stacey. Stacey. McGillettie. McGill. McGill. Okay, one more time, Matt, you say it. Anastasia.
Starting point is 01:43:03 Anastasia. Elizabeth. Elizabeth, Stacey, McGill. And her nickname, Boonzie. Bootsie? No, no, it's Boontsi. B-O-O-N-T-S-I-E. Boon-T-S-I-E.
Starting point is 01:43:20 Who is creating a nickname that's harder to say than the actual name? Her name is Anastasia. It's Booncy. Booncy. Bootsie. Wait, speaking of Bootsie, kind of all things that might sound like that. Have you got, are you going to watch This American Horror Story Season 13? No.
Starting point is 01:43:37 Okay. Do you think that Stacey McGill is related to? to Jimmy McGill from Better Call Saul, Saul Goodman. A legitimate daughter. That's why they had to move to Albuquerque so that he could launder Walter White's money. I don't know the answer to that question. Bootsie?
Starting point is 01:43:54 Bootsie. I'm going to kill your daughter, Stacey. This is gross. You're in the business now. San Choy Bal and Stacy. We love you. Yeah. Thanks.
Starting point is 01:44:06 Everything else? We don't. That has to be it. That was a great episode, guys. It's one of our best. Matt, what did you think of that episode? I'm glad we restarted it seven times. Eight, please.
Starting point is 01:44:16 It's much better now. You know what? Let's just go again. Roll it back. We'll have a sleep over, and everything will be just fine. How does the babysitter's club theme song go? Babysitter's club.
Starting point is 01:44:33 Okay, well, we're going to see you out with the babysitters club theme song. Okay. Wait, are you looking up the lyrics? Yeah. Should I have a couple of lyrics?
