Hey, Red walks over.
Look, Wim, we came here for a reason,
and we've done that reason,
and he kind of points over his shoulder.
We burned a lot of souls
that I believe, what we believe,
the dragon was keeping as a horde.
If you want a skeddattle,

Wim makes kind of like a

there being some kind of magical defense
against teleportation, guards, wards,
kinds of things that a dragon might have
with their infinite amount of time and energy
and magical power to stop people
from teleporting in and stealing their horde,
and then we don't have the power to try again.
Well, teleporting out, though,
That's totally different than teleporting in.
I feel nervous about risking it.
I'm not going to lie.

Doran sort of walks towards Wim, and he's like,
well, it was really, uh,

She gives you a thumbs up,
and then she just starts walking along with the party.

So the five of you leave the repository of souls.
having ostensibly freed the knights of the Eternal Order into their final rest.
On the way out, Red's hanging back with Wim, and doesn't it seem weird that there's nothing else
besides a few spared gold coins and some souls? That's not much of a dragon hoard.
I mean, now that you've said that, that automatically means that we'll turn this corner and there will be a dragon waiting for us.
It's not necessarily unheard of for dragons to have multiple caverns and hideouts and caches and places.
They've got a whole mountainside to play with.
Doran, I'm going to bet two gold pieces that we turn the corner of there's a dragon waiting there for us, all right?
Whim, do you know of any other places in here that the dragon would have kept gold or anything else around here that maybe seemed suspect?
Wim narrows her eyes at you, Red.
Red narrows them back.
And then she reaches a hand into her cloak, and she pulls out the immovable rod.
Did you find that in the dragon's hoard?
And she kind of shrugs, like, yeah.
Well, take us to where you found it.
And then she narrows her eyes at the four of you again.
Please.
Then she walks very purposefully.
You remember how we found her in like a cage?
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Are we sure we want to like mess with fire?
We could get out right now.
Yeah, but.
And we've done the thing.
Kind of with you there, Jack.
But think about this.
Remember when you lost your memory
and touched that door a whole bunch of times
and kept hurting yourself
and ate that mushroom?

And Red Follow's whim.

She leads the way very purposefully
back to the entry room,
which was full of just stray pieces of gold
and that skeleton
and that fire.

Well, the gold had been swept to the sides, like something big came through the middle.
It's the place where Mari and Red sat down and had a little chat about death and things.

Wim stands there in the center of the room, and she signs at you like, okay, but we're
going to have to get out of here.

she mimes like dine and dash like eat a food and then like run away yeah yeah that's fine hey look
whim's gonna point us to the horde and then we just got to get the fuck out of here quick right
she looks around at all of you and points her finger at you like you good you good you good you good you good

village uh yeah dorin's the one probably looking the most uh unsure about this
What do we want to go doing with the Dragon's Horde?
We came down here, Red, to release souls not to go looking for a dragon's stash of gold.

Well, like five seconds.
It lasts for, you know, five, six seconds once I'm done.
So you really got to be ready to leap when I'm casting it.

So there isn't a lot of room for error here.
Right, but we're good at that.
That's kind of fun.
I like the idea of Jack casting it and being like,
you guys have 60 seconds to get in and now.
And then you're like getting the...
You better be here in exactly 60 seconds.

Here's what we can do.

Whim walks over to the fireplace.
There are three raised steps that lead up to this fireplace, if you recall.
And above the fireplace is inscribed Kalimvor's charge.
Additionally, there's a skeleton lying on this hearth.
Wim walks over the skeleton and she kicks it into the fire.
And as the bones begin to burn and char, the fire dischar.
the fire dissolves away from the fireplace and leaves an entryway into the room beyond.
I said that. I totally said that.
He did. See?
Well, and Red enters the room.
How are we looking on time, Kieran?
Kieran begins to count at Mari.
Oh, we got...
Mari?
Fifty-nine, 58 seconds, 57, 57.
Jack has got his staff out, and he's.
feeling the magic sort of pulse up and down through it into the spellguard sphere bit at the top
where it sort of rains down from there casting this circle on the ground where little it's almost like
filling in pixel by pixel this diagram of the teleportation circle starts to grow on the ground
in front of us almost fractal-like as it gets bigger and bigger and more solid and more real and red stands
in the doorway and looks back dorin you coming in marie no anyone oh i'll come with
But I'm, and she's still got Kieran counting down, but we'll have to run at some point.
Come on, Wim.
And Red enters the room.
Doran still looks uneasy about it, but he's there to support his friends.
You enter in through this secret doorway into a room that is clearly a dragon's horde.
Most notably, you see three huge eggs.
Oh, we got eggs in here.
Oh, boy.
Along the side, you see two complete sets of armor, a chain shirt, some grieves and gauntlets.
You see wands.
You see weapons, barrels, there are chests full of treasure, an array of just, it's a treasure trove.
There is a bag off to the side.
a mirror leans against the wall.
There is a boat full of coins.
How do you want to deal with this?
Do you want to individually look at...
So we've got 60 seconds in-game,
but out of game,
we can chat and chat about what this stuff looks like
because looking and perceiving a room happens instantaneously.
Red casts detect magic.
Are you serious?

I mean...
The gold wouldn't be magical,
but there would be a lot of mundane stuff too.
I mean, there's a lot of magic.
in this room, I would say more than half.
Yeah, but I want to make sure
we're grabbing the half that's magic.
Cool, yeah. Okay, so we can immediately exclude
the magic things from the non-magic things.
Some of the magic things are strange.
There's a tablecloth, magic.
The mirror's magical.
I want that tablecloth.

What do we, what do we, do we just,
red turns to the others.
Everything in heroes magic, guys.
What do we do?
Do we just take it all?

We got 60 seconds.
There's a chest full of gold,
None of the gold's magic.
The chest is.
There's a cart that's magical.
All those wands.
I want those wands.
All the armor is magic.
Red runs over to a set of armor.
Okay.
So let me tell you about the armor that you're looking at.
There is a dark and mysterious.
We all die.
There's a dark and mysterious suit of magical studded armor.
There is a set of dwarven grieves and gauntlets, though there's no match.
halm or chest plate.
There is an elven chain shirt,
finely wrought,
a dark leather suit of armor
with a metallic blue-green sheen.
So there's four sets.
Yeah.
Listen, if we steal from this dragon,
we all got to grab something at the same time.
We could fill this card with shit,
but that's not going to give us much time.
We've got to time this thing out, Red says.
How many seconds, Maury?
You guys have 38.
I'm going to grab this chest.
Can you carry that?
Yeah, can I carry it?
Can you carry it fast?
Grab those four sets of armor.

Just jack in the distance.

Yeah, you see three wands close at hand.
Yeah.
That's just Kieran's eyes lighting up.
Kieran tells you there's a drift globe.
Kieran knows what that is.
If you want it, little guy, I'll get it.
I want that tablecloth.
I don't know why.
It's not even useful.
Bindle stuff up in it and go.
Mari stands in front of the tablecloth, and,
yanks it from the table.
It stays aloft.
And she grabs the wands.
That means it's go!
And red, as he sees Mari pull it,
we're supposed to do it at the same time, Marie!
Sorry, sorry, I'm very new to this.
She reaches out and he grabs the set of armor in front of him,
and he starts shoving it frantically into the bag of holding.
In the 30 seconds that Kieran is frantically screaming into your brain subconsciously,
the three of you managed to grab.
all four sets of armor, the magical tablecloth, a mirror, a drift globe, three wands,
a magical bag, a magical chest, and you load it all up onto the cart.
As you push it through the fireplace, you see Jack in the middle of the room.
The symbols are whirling on the ground.
They're starting to lock in place and glow red.
The world underneath this circle is starting to look like something else, a space between worlds.
This thing is imminently locking into place.
Jack, is it ready?
Hurry up!
It's almost ready!
Doran's like, grabs his end of the wheelbarrel, and he's shuffling it forward.
Come on, we got to go.

Come on.
Here we go.
She's just running.
I'm slipping.
Mari, grab that side.
Doran, as you push the cart into the teleportation circle, the drift globe rolls off and away.
I got it.
Red.
One, five.
Red turns around and scrambles.
Four.
Red, leave it.
Dives towards the drift globe.
Three.
Whim reaches our hand out towards you, Red.
Two.
Red grabs it.
Whim.

And the five of you disappear.
Now!
And as the five of you disappear from this room full of gold, the walls begin to tremble from a deep subterranean roar.
A novice wizard, who you've never met before, is on duty when the five of you crash into the teleportation circle in the city of the dead, dragging a wagon full of dragon's treasure.
We made it.

You've got the cart parked on the front porch, I presume, so you all carry handfuls of...
Yeah, yeah, anywhere in here, Red, like, enters, and we're standing in essentially, like, a bar area with, like, small tables stacked up on each other, and their chairs turned up.
And on the far end, there's, like, a wraparound bar, stairs that head up and stairs that head down to a cellar.
He's like, this is, this is it.
Just grab a table here, and Red, like, pulls a table off, blows the dust off.
win looks around and she holds her hands out like what is this place your guess is as good as mine waterdap real estate is really something these days yeah marie grabs the tablecloth and she slides it over the table that red has pulled over to like put it give a place to like start looking through these things like with a little bit of ceremony it appears mundane while draped over a table but when she pulls it off again it still hangs in the air she flops to the ground yes oh all right now
Not a flying carpet.

Oh, well, this is the tap room, Redd-like looks around.
Just don't worry about all the broken furniture and the wood on the floor, although splinters are prevalent.
There's rooms upstairs, plenty to sleep in, and you're welcome to call any, but the room on the end is mine.

Anyway, let's dive into this treasure, Redd says, rubbing his hands together.
Yeah.
So what did you guys find?
What are you most excited about?
Well, there's four suits of armor.
here and red lays them all out on a set of tables. To be clear, there are two complete sets of
armor. There is one set of dwarven grieves and gauntlets and there is one chain shirt. The first set
of leather armor is certainly magical. It is dark leather armor with a metallic blue-green sheen
in this light appears almost iridescent.
Extraordinarily light and flexible,
it features a bodice and paldrons
connected by fine leather
and adorned with shiny green black feathers
down the flanks and across the shoulders.
This looks fancy.
Interesting.
Wow. Red holds it up and sort of holds it in front of Murray.
Seems like your style, Mari. It's blue.
Blue and green.
Definitely colors I like.
I think they go well with my complexion, and she takes it and runs her hands across the leather
and trying to sort of feel it out, and she slips on this leather armor.
This is called Starling leather armor.
It is medium armor that confers an AC of 12 plus your decks modifier, plus your constitution modifier.
Ooh, that helps me a lot.
and enables you to have two different feats while you're wearing it.
Holy fuck.
The first called Starling Splendor gives you a plus two bonus to performance checks while
wearing the armor.
The second is called murmuration once per short rest when the wearer is subjected to an
effect that requires a successful dexterity save to take half damage.
On a successful save, you can use your reaction to take no damage instead.
Oh, fuck.
How damn.
Very fun.
Jack, your eyes fall upon this chain shirt.
It is an item that you are familiar with.
This is called the Seth Galae Elvin shirt.
It is the only piece of armor that can be worn by a wizard.
How damn.
As it is an elven chain shirt.
So finally wrought that it confers protection without hindering those who would be otherwise
encumbered while casting spells. Its silver links are so small and light that the chain shirt
can be worn underneath normal traveling clothes without being detected. This elven chain armor
gives you an AC of 13 plus 1 plus your decks modifier to a maximum of 2. Basically, saving you a
spell slot every day. Hot damn. You no longer need to cast mage armor. Wow. Doran, obviously, we have a
set of grieves and gauntlets.
Again, this is somewhat well known to you.
Hmm.
It's part of the flame reaver set.
The other pieces are lost to time.
Its helm and chestplate, scattered to the four winds of Feroon, maybe somewhere else
on your journey, you will find them.
However, while wearing the grieves and gauntlets, you add plus one to your AC for each piece.
Wow.
These ancient dwarven grieves and gauntlets belong to a set of armor called the armor of the flame a reever.
Wearing the grieves and gauntlets confers resistance to fire damage.
And red, these are pajamas.
They make you really comfy and sleeping.
Is there anything in that bag for me?
Red, you hold in your hands a dark, mysterious-looking suit of magical,
studded leather armor made of interlocking plates of some shadowy black
material. Stutted leather armor? I always wanted this.
That's your favorite. The helm of the armor is a faceless hood. And when you raise it,
it will obscure your face in mysterious darkness. Ooh. Waring this armor gives you
12 plus 3 plus your dex modifier. Should give you a 19, I believe. Oh, wow. Yeah. It gives you a couple
of properties here. The shifting property grants you advantage on stealth checks. Once per short rest,
you are able to perform something called shadow melding. While in dim light or darkness,
the wearer can as an action gain the benefits of the invisibility spell.
Shadow step once per short rest. As a bonus action, the wearer can exploit the shadows to teleport
up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space that you can see as long as that is also.
in darkness or dim light.
Oh.
And you have something called a veil of shadows.
The armor provides resistance to necrotic damage.
So everyone's got some new, exciting armor.
The umbral veil.
To go with your umberhawk.
And by the way, as you say that, you can hear on the, like, shifting above the floorboards,
shale, just like, gnawing at some furniture.
Shale.
What is that?
Oh, don't worry, you'll find out.
Over the course of the next couple of hours, the four of you perform various investigations,
identity spells, and attunements in order to assess the magical qualities of the other items
that you'd stolen from the dragon's hoard.
You find a small floating mirror.
The magical mirror is a circular frame of polished.
silver and it floats in midair defying gravity about a foot above the ground just as normal but
wherever you kind of place it it will stay in order to offer you reflection this is amazing there are
three wands in this little horde a wand of gust a wand of web and a wand of darkness each with a handful of charges
remaining. There is a haversack that can be slung over both shoulders for comfort, crafted from
durable burgundy fabric featuring brass, clasps, and buckles, which turns out to be another
bag of holding. Doren. And Doren can carry his own chains. That's the...
Yeah. There is a set of folded fabric pieces, which are magical. And,
And kind of puzzling until you manage to unfurl them.
They take up almost the entire footprint of this tap room.
And you eventually recognize that they are sails.
These are magical sails crafted from silk.
They glow lightly in the darkness.
Well, Red puts them into the bags.
They'll go perfectly with a folding boat.
we now have a little bit more speed you'll be able to assess their magical abilities perhaps when you come into your own ship
there is a drift globe this drift globe is a thick glass sphere that weighs about a pound and whoever claims it can speak a command word to cause it to emanate light or daylight you can also
speak a command word to have it move around in the air, essentially. So it's just like your quintessential
hovering ball of magical light, which is fucking awesome. The cart is a hilarious item considering
that the three of you worked so hard together to make it move because you find out that you are
able to command it to move on its own. Oh, you could have said something there, buddy. You can
You can essentially mush it to move forward, you can cause it to go left and right by saying lean or tilt, and saying the words repeatedly increases its acceleration or the direction of the movement.
It's just pivot for the tavern when we get it back up and running. Red taps the wall and his hand goes through the wall.
Mari, like, gently pats the cart, like, oh, I should, like, feed it some splinters or something.
the magical chest is a chest of holding essentially its interior space is considerably larger than its exterior space
so you're able to throw all of your belongings in there although it's a static item unlike the bag
so it's got to be like sitting on the floor basically because it's a heavy little guy
you manage to swipe a couple of animated objects as well there's an animated broom
some animated cutlery
and an animated long sword
that's swooping around the bar
current. Oh, you!
Red pulls out his rapier.
You again, I remember you.
You and I went toe to toe
way back when.
I'm not going to get hurt this time.
Red hops up on the table
and pulls his rapier out.
Get on that wall.
Foot goes through the table.
Oh, damn it.
You fight dirty.
And then, of course,
there is Wim's immovable Rod.
which she has not parted away with.
Wow.
Well, we made quite the hall,
although I do have to say,
admitting that I was the strongest supporter of looting from the dragon.
Suppose there will be some fallout, Red says,
as he, like, feels the leather on his new armor,
just lying on the table.
But maybe it'll be worth it.
What's done is done.
Yeah, I don't really want to go back there.
I'm not going to return it now.
Hey, it's done, though.
we uh we did it we laid our friend to rest i feel pretty good about that yeah yeah i also feel
really good about doing that but but i agree it was somewhat anti-climactic if that makes sense there
was no big gust of wind or rainbow or you know firework that went off it just sort of you know
happen and I really truly hope deep down that uh we actually did what we were meaning to do there
i think so i feel good about it i mean death's anticlimactic it's just an ending good point
well i suppose uh we'll want to settle in a little bit i mean this is this is it red turns
around in the tap room trips over a piece of wood uh i'd love to show you around uh come on
And Red skips to the barnum of the steps heading up.
He says, over there is obviously the bar and Lyft.
Just, you know, there's nothing to serve, but he'd be happy to help you.
And come, and Red runs upstairs.
What is Lyft?
Is Lyft dead?

Oh, Mario just heads up after Red.
As you reach the second flight of stairs, you see that Wim has set up like a hammock in front of a window that overlooks the street.
and she's sort of curled up in the hammock
with her arms behind her head
and she's just looking out at the city.

This is where I was sleeping too.

This here is one of the final places you can use.
There's two rooms over there.
