Starting point is 00:00:00 Rob, get your ass over here. You tuck forever. Away we go. What would you ask that? Weirder things have happened, Doran. Like this kind of stuff, Jack? I think it was a terrible idea. Friends is all we are.
Starting point is 00:00:11 Does this color match my eyes? I want there to be something good there for those kids. It's the magic. She can see Doran. That's where you got all this stuff? It's a little foppish for sure. I've been meaning to speak with you too. Been completely vaporized.
Starting point is 00:00:23 They went somewhere without us? I know. It's actually kind of. It's a little rude, bud. You think they're sleeping together, too? Welcome back to Dice Shame. This is Season 2, Episode 126, A Familiar Ring. And maybe this week is Adam Fry.
Starting point is 00:00:52 You've been a longtime fan of Dice Shame and everything we've done and somehow we've missed you. Thanks so much. much, Adam. You're this week's MVP. Thanks, Adam. All right. Should we play some D&D? Yeah, let's do it.
Starting point is 00:01:04 Woo! the big companies. I've been shopping this around. Don't worry too much about it. But I appreciate you all attending this meeting so we can sketch out some of the details. A Universal Studio, 20th century production. Brought to you by Warner Bros. I think we should figure out
Starting point is 00:01:42 who do we want to direct it? What are we thinking for cast? Who do we want to write it? Like is there anybody, any locations in mind? Okay, Ron Howard's directing it. I want Peter Jackson. I want Viggo Mortison. I want... There you go.
Starting point is 00:01:58 wait a minute we're going to do this in New Zealand oh yeah yeah I mean wait what I do think like I've I thought about it and I think I've got the perfect person we need to cast for Jack Page I think who is it is it you I think we should cast Daniel Radcliffe as Jack Page I got to think he's starting to get to the age where he'd finally like really chew through a good wizard role I don't think he's ever had the chance to really do it I think Daniel Radcliffe is the guy to finally get to play a wizard you know if If you let him just be as unhinged as possible, he would be in 100%. This is a man who's like, I'll play a corpse, I'll play a weirdo. I'm going to say Jack Page instead is played by DJ Qualls. DJ Qualls. DJ what? Yeah. That's a name I have not heard in a long time.
Starting point is 00:02:45 I think you have a really high vision for Jack that I don't necessarily see. I see him much ganglier. Like I see him, my canonical Jack is like the chef from Ratatouille with the rat under his hat. You know what I mean? Like, he's, like, kind of gangly and, like, a little goofy-looking. Yeah. But to me, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:06 He doesn't have a bad look for Jack. DJ Qualls is not unattractive. He's just a lot more gangly. Like, to me, Daniel Radcliffe is like... DJ Qualls doesn't look 53 to me, though. Like, I just... He's got, like, baby face. That's exactly the picture that I just...
Starting point is 00:03:22 It's not even a DJ. But he's like, to me... Jack does either because he's a half elf, but... I can see it. I can see it. The overwhelming thing to me is gangly. Anyone else want to help cast Jack? Do we have any dissent?
Starting point is 00:03:35 I like Daniel Radcliffe on that. I like, I think that like, I don't, I... Listen, he's not going to take it. He's not going to play another wizard. He's going to be like, no, thank you. I don't want to... Well, he's never played a wizard. What are you talking about?
Starting point is 00:03:49 I think that's the joke. He played Harry Potter. I might think he had a different game like. I wasn't, I'm not looking at him. at the screen, I'm looking at DJ Qua. He's just been captivated by it. In my mind, Rob was like Googling like, am I thinking
Starting point is 00:04:06 the wrong? No, no, I'm just like giving him a second. That's the, that's why I thought it was funny. That was weird. How would we feel? Yeah. How would we feel about Zach Braff? Yeah, I could see Zach Braff as a Jack page. It's the gangliness to me as big as Jack. I like scrubs, but I think Zach Brath is not the right vibe. Although Jack is like 50-something.
Starting point is 00:04:27 He's right. That's kind of my vibe, right? Yeah. It's got to be older, too. But, you know, a 50-year-old human's not like a 50-old. No, no, I... Is Doren. Just with all the Hobbit tricks to make him short?
Starting point is 00:04:44 Short Chris Hemsworth? I'm here for that. No, I'm picturing... I'm picturing... The first actor I was thinking for Doren is dead. Oh, no. Yeah. So I won't pick him.
Starting point is 00:04:56 I want to say I'm notting for the rock personally for Jack for Doran for Doran I was originally to go with Ray Stevenson but I think he passed away
Starting point is 00:05:08 yeah he died like last year also so now if we want to go for like a modern take I would go for John Bernthal oh yeah he was the Punisher
Starting point is 00:05:19 oh yes I was like I know this name but I can't picture him think of the edge he could bring to Doran's character yeah yeah I could see that. I want to pause it for Jack,
Starting point is 00:05:30 Sam Rockwell. So, who's like the right age? No, Sam Rockwell is like a, he's a dynamo. He would be wasted in Jack. Sam Rockwell should be, Sam Rockwell should be like an NPC that like fills the screen.
Starting point is 00:05:47 Like he would be, he has so much meat. This is fantasy. This is like, who do you want to play your character? That's fair. But to me, we'd have to re- We'd have to rewrite some Jack stuff, too.
Starting point is 00:05:59 Give him more to work. Sam would be like, Sam would walk up and be like, I need, I need more. Can he have a, can he have a, can he have a, can he have, can his pseudo dragon? Can I voice the pseudo dragon as well? He's such a talent. Yeah. I feel like Doran's guy's got to be pretty mussely. That's, I mean, that's eight weeks of training and a real prescribed.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Eight weeks to be a, to be a warrior. Can I suggest Danny DeVito? Just short. Yeah. The voice. He's just short. He thought he's like, hi, die. He's in the Princess Bride.
Starting point is 00:06:32 What's that little... Oh. No. Is he? The Ferengi. What's his name? The Ferengue. I think, I mean, the directors would have to be fun.
Starting point is 00:06:43 Someone who was like, like, I think a director that came from like a really fun animation background, like one of the, like, Spider-Man animated movies or, you know what I mean? Something that, like, or the Lego movies, something that, like, had a lot of pop and character would be really fun. Oh, like, um, what's, yeah, what's their face? The, the two guys who's named, he did the Lego movie, um, Phil, uh, Chris Miller and Yes, Lord and Miller. Yeah, the guys who did 22 Jump Street or 21 Jump Street would be great.
Starting point is 00:07:07 Oh, Ralph Machio for Jack would be home to. He's a little old now, like a no-name kind of blank slate. Sorry, Ralph. Yeah, Jack is 50-something canonically. Oh. I could see Ralph Machio, sure. Why does everyone forget that? He's like old.
Starting point is 00:07:19 He's like karate. Maybe more like Keanu Reeves. Writers, obviously Joe. Actually, you can write it. because beautiful and gorgeous and be fun. Yeah. Soundtrack, you know, John Williams. If we're dreaming.
Starting point is 00:07:35 Something epic. Red is CGI, obviously. Who's voicing him, though? Yeah, you think? I want him to be a Muppet. Oh, my God, that would be so good. Yeah, he's a puppet. Muppet really adds a different vibe.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Yeah, he's like Baby Yoda. Maybe he's CGI, but then there's like a sequence where he becomes a Muppet when everyone's like on drugs or something like that. Yeah, voiced by me. That would be part of my contract to be like, yeah. If you see G.I, I'm just going to voice them anyway. And then Mari would be played. I was looking at actresses here because I just Googled actresses.
Starting point is 00:08:08 You're like good. Very good. You're going to start somewhere, man. At least just to get faces. Oh, Kate Winslet, would that work? I mean, I like that. Yeah, that would work. I feel like Red would be a Rizzo the Rat type of. I'd love to see that.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Just the merch alone. That's my... Like the lamp, not the rat. But then when he does... When he does action sequences, he turns into anime character. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:08:39 Yeah. And it gets all, like, super fast-paced. And then when he's just kind of hanging out, he's like, do, dot, dot, dot, dot, da, around the campfire. Amazing. Slam his face into pies, you know. I like that... I like what would be the worst characters.
Starting point is 00:08:53 And I've never liked the actor, but, well, I've never liked his acting in most movies except for the one, but Matthew Broderick, could you mean, could you imagine him as red? Oh, God. Yeah, is red. Yeah, that'd be awesome. I don't understand. Matthew Broderick is red. Doran, played by Kevin Hart. I'm going to, I'm going to suggest Karen Gillian, Jillian, as Marie entirely because I know that she'd be willing to put on, like, body paint because she played.
Starting point is 00:09:21 Yeah, she's played blue before. She should be like, yeah, this is fine. Jack played by Kate Blanchett. Very good. Yes, I support. We're doing the bottom of the barrel now. Tilda Swinton. You're going to have our options open.
Starting point is 00:09:34 No, because Tilda could pull it off. That's what I want. No, I thought we were, as a joke, we were doing the opposite. Oh, sorry. I forgot. Because Pete Blanchett would be horrible as Jack Paget. I got excited as with Tilda Swinton's Jeff. I mean, I would watch the shit out of it.
Starting point is 00:09:50 It's an interesting choice. Yeah, but you said your favorite movie. as hackers. How dare you? Would Alanis Morissette play Joe? Because she's apparently played... I'm not in the... I'm not in the show.
Starting point is 00:10:04 No, I know, but she apparently plays God in a couple of movies. Which is kind of... In dogma. And there's another Kevin Smith movie. Plays God. I think she plays God in all the Kevin Smith. That'd be funny. She's Canadian.
Starting point is 00:10:18 We could probably book her. Hungry for work, you think? Yeah, maybe. Well, you're right, just in dogma, at least. We don't look terribly dissimilar. No. You're both white women with brown hair. Uh-huh.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Oh, what about, what about for Jack Alan Rickman? Oh, he's dead. Oh, he's also dead. Damn it. That's okay. We're not actually making a movie, guys. On the last. Wait a minute.
Starting point is 00:10:47 Are you kidding? I thought Rob, you said you talked to all the people. This is just an intro idea? It's just a bit. You know, I wanted to take a couple of minutes just to do some goofs before we got down to it and recorded the next session. Thanks for going on this little whimsy with me. I was getting the contracts all right. I didn't mean to tease you.
Starting point is 00:11:06 I'm sorry. My phone red was going to break the big screen. I guess we're going to go back to being D-Class actors. That's bold. F-minus, please. Or D-class because we're going to play some D-N-D. Yes. You were right.
Starting point is 00:11:20 I was wrong. I missed it. I meant D classes. We're probably more like F class. I'm not ready for the silver screen. All right. Shall we do it? Let's do it.
Starting point is 00:11:29 Yeah, let's play Dungeons of Drag. Woo! Jack, you find red outside in the yard. He's got a magic illusion in front of him, almost like a catalog. And he's flipping through it. But all the images are just like, like. like, in his brain and, like, hand-drawn pictures of what he's imagining. He's like, that could work.
Starting point is 00:11:56 Maybe that. Hey, Red. Oh, Jack! And he puts the illusion away. I'm so glad you're here. Yeah. You took forever. Sorry, yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:05 It's been like five minutes, man. I hate to keep you waiting. Hopefully you had another bowl of porridge to tie you over. No, I still have ours, and Red pulls it, like, flies all over it. Great. I didn't want to start without you. Well, go ahead. And let's, let me get this circle drawn, and away we go.
Starting point is 00:12:21 You first. I don't want to eat it. He puts the porridge down and walks away. Yeah, I want to see how you do this. It looks cool. Yeah, great. I love an audience. It'll only take a minute.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Red just stands next to you whistling the whole time. Like, not even a tune, like, just like tonal, like just notes. Yeah. This isn't distracting for you. It's Jack. There's, you know, Jack pulls out a bag of chalk and starts drawing a circle on the, on the lawn. and, you know, 60 seconds later, we've got everything we need to zip back over to the graveyard and water deep. Heckorino, and we can come back to this one, right?
Starting point is 00:12:59 We'll end up coming back a little ways up the road, but it's not too far. We can ride. We can. We've got a, I can pull up a fabulous steed. We'll be back in no time. Cool. Let's do it. Red jumps on the circle. Away we go.
Starting point is 00:13:16 So Jack and Red, the two of you, dissolve into magical essence and are whisked away through this portal into the teleportation circle, which you are now somewhat familiar with in the city of the dead in water deep, making your way through the graveyard, out into the market ward. You are greeted by the sights, sounds, and smells of the city of splendors. Wow, it's warmer down here in this city. Yeah. So different. It's a, I mean, the coast carries a lot of nice warm air, all that kind of stuff. Where do you want to start? Are you thinking like something from home?
Starting point is 00:13:55 Are you thinking... There's a few things I want to try. First, I'm thinking cloaks. Take me to the cloaks, Jack. You know this place better than I do. I mean, there's only one shop I've ever bought clothes in that I can remember the name of. I was there recently with Mari. Let's go see what they've got.
Starting point is 00:14:12 Oh, wait. That's where you got all this stuff? Yeah. Let's try a new place. Just out and this one looks good And Red Walks over to a stall Oh sure So you think a cloak is going to bring you and be closer?
Starting point is 00:14:28 Look, I don't know I'm not very smart when it comes to this kind of stuff Or most things I just want a gift that sort of says What I can't say, which is that I care about her And I want her to know that I want her to be safe And I want her to know where I am if she cares And a cloak might do that
Starting point is 00:14:48 You red, like grabs a green one off a rack. This one, maybe? And holds it out to Jack. Maybe. It's matching cloaks to say I'm with stupid and pointing to the other one. Oh, Jack, this one's really funny. And he holds a cloak and it's got like a picture of a horse on it. The same horse that he was holding in the picture in the hallway, running to door.
Starting point is 00:15:08 Reminds me a shit fart. Should I get at this one? This one could work. I don't, yeah, I mean. This shop has a huge variety of clothing. There's like, you know, merchant outfits. There's a dancer's outfit. There are some very cool eyeglasses and goggles.
Starting point is 00:15:28 What about, I mean, what about a set of something, you know, is there like matching gloves or matching shirts or something like that that'll make it, you know, at least give you some connection, something to remind her of you when you're not there? Oh, oh, I like that. What about that stall over there? And Red, like, runs across the street to, like, gloves. It's just called gloves. Glove source.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Like this kind of stuff, Jack? Yeah, I mean, two pairs of bespoke. Are your hands similar sizes? That might, what size gloves does she wear? I don't know. What do you think? And Red just holds his hand up in front of your face? Does this look like bees?
Starting point is 00:16:05 Well, in some ways, I don't think you're quite identical in size, though. Maybe gloves, gloves are renowned. You hear people talk about their gloves gloves Well you look over in that pile I'll look in this pile Maybe they can be like a set And Red's sorting through gloves And trying to find two matching pairs
Starting point is 00:16:27 And he's like So what are you gonna do about this destiny stuff Did you find it yet? I mean I definitely have some things I didn't run into her I got some things I gotta say about it to her I just Something feels wrong
Starting point is 00:16:45 And I know it could be my own biases. I definitely, like, what she's been through is horrible, and I owe her an apology. But there's something that nags at me about all of it that just, and I don't know, my own biases are probably at play, but just what a coincidence that she'd march all through the winter to get to the house of the devils we killed when she worships the big one.
Starting point is 00:17:12 And the place where we're trying to keep some kids safe, and start a new life for them and stuff. It just feels too coincidental. Just the one imp and what it was able to do to Taurin and the rest of their life. And this place had dozens of them in the walls. We could have missed one. They, you know, let alone she's in that sphere.
Starting point is 00:17:33 It's just all ties me up on a knot. I don't know. Hard to trust. So why don't you ask her? That's on the list of apologize and then ask her that is kind of where I'm, ask her just to tell me a little bit about herself she she landed anywhere else she probably wouldn't owe me a thing but well maybe maybe think about it this way why do you have reason
Starting point is 00:17:57 to think she's nefarious red says he puts three of the same glove on a pile like this is good stuff i i mean it's in the way that's it's everything about openly saying hey asmodius the lord of lies. That's my guy. I'm putting all my faith in him. This is, you know, I'm going out of my way to worship this guy. If I think about the, all the places lethander is in my life because I, I hold him in high regard and try and map that to how the heck she's every day getting up and saying, you know, king of lies and devils, you're my guy, let alone, you know, the ones, every devil we've met's tried to kill us. why would you say that's why would you put your faith in that i just can't i don't understand it well i mean
Starting point is 00:18:49 look jack we've had runnings with imps you yourself have have agreed to work with one i didn't think you're an evil person because you did it right no i i agree but i don't i guess my point is is more i don't that's not a part of my life i'm proud of that's that's a decision made and a bad decision made in desperation that cost everyone around me dearly. I think it was a terrible idea. Right, right, right. And Red puts the gloves down, he walks over, and he's like, look, all I'm saying is, you are a good person.
Starting point is 00:19:26 Sometimes you do bad things, and sometimes you do good things, but from what I know of you, you're a good person, no matter what you believed in. What do you know of destiny? Not what she believes in, but what you know of her. Next to nothing. No, that's not true. That's not true. What do we know of her? We know that she works with Orrin, that she works at an orphanage for children, that she has a son, that she has her beliefs and holds them firmly.
Starting point is 00:19:55 Maybe if you chose to judge her purely on what you know of her, right? Her actions, the way she helps people we love and care about, your answer would be easier. You would have an easier time framing the way you feel. I hope so. I think there's a paradox that lets good people get exploited a lot. The idea that you've got to be kind and accepting and loving to everybody and everything out there, even the stuff that you think is objectionably from hell. You know, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:39 that you need to, I don't know how compassionate we need to be to the people who are like, big devil is my guy. I don't know if that's the paradox of tolerance. I don't know if that's my own prejudice. It just twists me up. It makes me suspicious. Everything about the Hamperat House has always never sat right with me. I just wanted, I want there to be something good there for those kids. And I am just worried that we don't have enough time to like make it safe ourselves well look fair enough you're going to do what you're going to do and i understand and you've always been strong in your beliefs and it's envious in a way you've always known exactly who you are and and and what you are and what you believe in and i i just i i i i guess when i think about you
Starting point is 00:21:28 i want to think about the best in you i want to think about the times that you proved me wrong and you showed me that you're the kind of person that others, including myself, look up to and aspire to. And I guess part of me is a little sad to hear these beliefs in you overwhelm this woman that we've met that seems pretty all right. And I guess my only hope is that you start. You start. You start first we're trying to get to know her and then question whether or not these beliefs that you've long since held on to are true or not rather than the other way around and that's all i'll say on it does this color match my eyes red holds up the four gloves the six gloves that he's found no it's red that's that's pink this is all wrong red puts them down being colorblind makes
Starting point is 00:22:35 this very difficult. Yes. And he turns around and across the street he sees like trinkets and he's like what about a ring? What about a magical ring? Look, B was worried because
Starting point is 00:22:48 you know, she felt like we didn't have a connection. What if I could give her that? Come on, Jack. And Red runs across the road. After you. The horses are having some exercise in the yard. It's late morning.
Starting point is 00:23:05 and we see Mari having a conversation. She's walking alongside Rob the Horse and you can't hear, for anyone else outside, you can't hear anything the horse is saying, but you just hear her quietly going, no, and I know, but if anyone else talks to you, there's other magic users, there's another guy here, he's a magic user, and if they talk to you, I need you to not tell them what you heard last night. I'll give you, fine, fine, six apples. I'll just, whatever. Whatever. It's fine, all right? But do not, do not cross me. It's like she's trying to, like, do like the eyes thing with the horse. Horses who got the eyes on the side. It doesn't really work. But, yeah, she's walking along and trying to bargain with this horse who just keeps kind of like winning and swishing its hair, kind of like, oh, well, whatever, lady.
Starting point is 00:23:53 And then she, uh, she stops because she can see Doren approaching. Yeah, Doren's sort of walking hesitantly across the field. Not sure if you want to. to approach Mari or if he should or if this is going to be awkward or maybe he'll turn around now he continues and awkwardly rocks across the field oh good morning Marie uh nice to see you out here you know it you know it's like two o'clock in the afternoon right oh is it oh i think so i didn't get much sleep last night that is true does this count as a long rest uh say uh have you seen jack in red i i don't No, I look kind of all around the house.
Starting point is 00:24:38 I think they might have gone. There's a smoking, like, magic seal on the ground, which means that they either teleported themselves somewhere or they've both been completely vaporized. They went somewhere without us? I know. It's actually kind of, it's a little rude, but. You think they're sleeping together, too?
Starting point is 00:25:01 You know what? After last night, I would not completely write it off. Weirder things have happened, Doran. Now I got to, now I'm looking around thinking who isn't sleeping together. Thalice opens the front door of the villa and he's like wiping his hands on a tea towel and he spots the two of you. And he says, lunch is almost ready. Oh, thank you. I've been meaning to chat.
Starting point is 00:25:30 I'll catch you. I'll catch you inside. for lunch Murray and he awkwardly uh rob get your ass over here and she runs back over to the horse or are you two speaking together sleeping together no uh why would you ask that what would you make you think that i just i just saw you speaking oh speaking yeah we were speaking you know we speak all the time we're friends you know friends is all we are um hey thallis listen um I'm glad I caught you. I didn't really
Starting point is 00:26:03 because I chat with you last night, but I wanted to say thank you because last time I was here, I asked you if you could put a barrel of ale off to the side. And you did. I found it last night. It was enjoyable. I'm wondering if you can have one set up for me next time I come back.
Starting point is 00:26:19 And here's some gold. He kind of hands you 10 gold and in hopes that you'll have some ale available next time the crew comes back. Thanks, Doren. I'll do that for sure. Have you seen Orrin around? Yeah, actually, I saw him with some of the kids in the dining room.
Starting point is 00:26:38 Oh, oh good. I guess we're all sitting down for lunch. I'll head in there. If you see Mari, my friend that I was out there speaking with, tell her we're inside here having lunch. Will you? Well, yeah, she's right there. Oh.
Starting point is 00:26:53 Hi. Oh, hi. Friend? Yes, hello. Hello. And she, like, awkwardly claps Doren on the shoulder. And it goes lunch. And Doran awkwardly claps you on the shoulder, too.
Starting point is 00:27:06 And he turns into a hug. Oh, my God. Doran, stop. You said you would make this weird. All right. I'm not making it weird. You're making it weird. You're making it weird.
Starting point is 00:27:17 No. What are you guys making weird? Nothing. This is just an ongoing issue. Are you always like this? It's kind of awkward. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:27 It's the magic. Huh? And Doran sort of gives a look over to Mari. Yeah, Mari, Mari gives him like a really click glare. And then she just sort of does like, ooh, like spooky hands at him. Just like, ooh, magic. And then just rolls her eyes and walks into the other room. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Doran follows and catches Oren out of the corner of his eye. Orin, I've been meaning to speak with you too. I've got some tales to tell you. Stuffer, you know, meat and potatoes. For those songs you're always singing. Oh, that's wonderful. Master Doran, sit right here beside me. I will, and I'll regale you of all the fantastic tales.
Starting point is 00:28:12 Meanwhile, back in Waterdeep, there's a shop called Faces, Artifacts, and Relics. Deep in the shop hung with dozens of masks all over the walls. Glass counters display curious items and potions. safely tucked away from would-be thieving hands, the masks staring down at the two of you, Red and Jack, as Red looks down through the glass case at a brilliantly colored ring. He fogs up the glass for the third time and wipes it again.
Starting point is 00:28:52 That's the one, Jack. That's gotta be done. What does it do again? He talks to the shopkeeper. It's called the heartbeat ring. when you wear them and press them together like so and he pulls them out of the case puts one on his finger and one on your finger Oh, I do. And then demonstrates pressing the rings together.
Starting point is 00:29:14 Then you always know where the wearer of the other ring is within this realm or any. What do you think, Jack? I mean, yeah, that's a pretty cool feature. I wonder how it works. I mean, do you? you think she'd like it? Do you think...
Starting point is 00:29:31 I mean, it certainly answers part of the question. You know, yeah, I think it speaks to part of the concern. It'd be nice to know where your person is. Yeah. I mean, no one gift is going to say everything I want to say to be, but I feel like this is a start. And more than anything, it's a gesture, and she needs that from me right now. Last night we had a real tough conversation.
Starting point is 00:29:56 I know I said it, but it just made me feel like, you know, No, that kind of stuff can nodge. I'll take them. That will be 150 gold. Jack? Pay the person. Of course. Red Wages.
Starting point is 00:30:11 No, I'm just teasing. And Red reaches in the bag of holding and pulls out. Red's bag is like full of gold as well, but he's just like, Jack, you got this free. Jack, unfurles a portable hole onto the floor of this shop. You're not helping to get rid of any of those items, are you? He sure is. Some of these books need to go. Hey, Jack.
Starting point is 00:30:30 You could pawn some stuff. I, well... I'm always in the market for a deal. I bet we can come to terms and something. Yeah, okay, let's go through it. Thank you. I love them. And I think B will too. It's late in the afternoon when Red and Jack make the hike all the way back
Starting point is 00:30:48 from the teleportation circle. And when you enter the yard of the villa, B is on the east side practicing archery. Oh. You got this, buddy. Thanks, man. And hey, thanks so much for coming with me today and getting us there. Red grabs Jack and pulls him close for a big hug, slaps him on the back.
Starting point is 00:31:11 Yeah. Like, it was good for me. Help me clear my head. But it meant a lot. And I think she's really going to like these. And I really like that hat I picked out for you. I think it's going to go really well. Yeah, I'm going to wear it on special occasions.
Starting point is 00:31:30 And Red brings the bell on top of it. It's so cool. Okay. It's red, obviously. It's a red. 100%. It's a little foppish for sure. That's what's so cool.
Starting point is 00:31:41 It's floppy. Anyway, wish me luck. Red gives him two thumbs up and walks towards B. B is doing some target practice. She's focused in. And you get to see her form as she fires an arrow toward the target that she's set up on the side of, the stable. The arrow sings true, maybe just a little bit low of the bull's eye.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Wow, B, you're wonderful. Dad, where have you been all day? I was out with Jack just getting some air, but man, you've really improved. Red's like looking at the bull's eye. I can't believe it in such little time, too. Thank you. I've been practicing. Hey And Red grabs her hands and sits down on the bench I was thinking about last night And you know I want to be
Starting point is 00:32:37 Everything you need I really do And we both know That I'm not really capable of that right now And maybe one day I will be But that doesn't mean I can't Try Or
Starting point is 00:32:53 Do things that can maybe make a little bit of what we both truly want possible. And, well, Jack and I went to Waterdeep today because I wanted to get you something, something that maybe could just express in my heart of hearts how much you mean to me and how much I want you to know that I love you, always.
Starting point is 00:33:22 And, well, Redridge is in his pocket and he pulls at the two rings. These are rings I got and here. He takes her hand, he slips one on her, and he puts the other on his and says, they are the rings that allow us, no matter where we are in the world, no matter where we are, to always know where each other is. And he reaches across and he taps the rings together. So that no matter how far I end up being away from, you, you'll know I'm, I'm always somewhere that you can find. Because I never, ever want to be
Starting point is 00:34:06 away from you in a way that I can't be found. She looks up from admiring the ring on her finger with her eyes full of tears and she just throws her arms around you and hugs you. I love you, I do. I love you too. And I'm going to keep trying to be Better. I know. Thanks, Dad. Now watch this. Red pulls out one of his special arrows and fires it straight up.
Starting point is 00:34:35 And it's the seeking arrow and it goes, and it hits the target right next to her. Show off. Get good. Get good. That's awesome. Get good, daughter. Get good.
