Well, monsters aren't scary if we're scarier than the monsters.
The netheries magic can be very powerful.
If I do 20 push-ups, what do I smell?
Why waste a spell slot?
How mysterious.
I should do it.
If it's a puzzle, maybe there's an order.
Dimeel?
What are you doing?
Guys, there's a monster in this mist. Let's kill it.
Starting to think that that's a possibility.
We could just run.
You idiot. You wasted your entire turn.
Red shifts a little bit.
I'm so sorry.
Did I just roll that?
Did I really just roll the one right now?
That just happened to me?
Oh, no.
Shame, shame, shame, shame, shame.
What have I done?
Put it in the shame jar.
I appreciate that, actually.
I thought I was being shames.
Welcome back to Dice Shame.
This is Season 2, Episode 140, Missed Opportunity.
MVP this week is Baby Marie.
Hi, Marie.
Dad-da.
Hell's yeah, little girl.
You're almost two years old.
We love you, and we are so excited to get you on this show.
I love you, too.
All right, should we play some D&D?
Yeah.
Woo!
Having been asked by Chieftain Grapack-Lack,
to retrieve whatever loot they can.
can find in exchange for payment, our heroes stand at the junction between the orcish cave
system and nethery's ruins. The warning from the orcs echoes in their minds as they consider
their next steps. This is known to be a dangerous place where monsters lurk, and sometimes those
who enter never return. Well, monsters aren't scary if we're scarier than the monsters, Red says,
and starts growling. So, we're heading into another two.
Room-like structure, Dorrance is looking around.
Both certainly.
Take the lead, Widdidd.
I don't mind if I do, and Witted, just with the biggest smile on his face,
takes one long stride into this room.
Fantastic.
Witted, you make your way into this first room beyond the caved-in tunnel,
followed closely by your companions.
This first room is rather small, 15 by 15 feet,
with exits leading south and west.
The smooth, gray-blue marble stonework emits a cool, dim light all around you.
The only details of note in this room are two silver mirrors that hang on the east and west walls directly opposite one another.
There are some old bones on the ground nearby, and a dripping sound echoes from somewhere deeper in the building.
Tamil is going to look at one of these mirrors from kind of the side,
trying to see how it's attached to the wall.
Careful, the netheries magic could be very powerful.
I assume that something might happen if I stood in between the mirrors,
so I'm taking a slightly circumspect approach to begin.
There doesn't seem to be any space between the mirror and the wall,
so it's not clear how they're affixed, necessarily.
They're quite large, almost full length, I would say, beautifully wrought from silver.
Full length, what?
Humanoid, not dwarf.
That's true.
Full length from the dwarf is like...
Half height for everyone else.
It's just not full length.
Widdard, do you prefer to take the lead here in how we deal with these...
I'm assuming some of them will be traps, but should we all just experience this together?
It would be a good idea to allow me to take a look first, perhaps, yes.
Very well.
Timil will kind of back up.
Yeah, maybe with his intense armor.
And Doran's kind of poking his head in the door here.
Yeah.
Wim is still, like, right around the pile of skulls just, like, looking up over the tops of everyone's heads through into the room.
Yeah, Red's hanging back with Wim and he sort of turns to him, and he's like, do you have, like, detect magic or something like that?
Maybe we could kick that thing on.
you could let me know if anything glows, spooky or beneficial.
She pats her pockets and then shakes her head.
All right, it's on me, and Red snaps his fingers, and he'll cast, detect magic.
So you were going to get her to cast it, but you have it.
I don't know, like, how ritual stuff works.
I didn't know, like, for me, it's a cost.
I didn't know maybe it was, like, free for her.
Totally, totally, totally.
It was a resource, not a...
That makes sense.
But I could play it like it was self.
No, no, no, no.
I love that.
Fine, I guess I'll do it.
wumph
yeah all around you
are familiar places
familiar magic
no for a second
you're like
just moderately blinded
by the glare of magic items
coming off of everything you're wearing
and you're like oh god
and then your eyes adjust
and yeah you're looking out
out over the heads of your
companions meanwhile
in this room with the two mirrors
so far is just
Wooded and Tamil that are in the room
with Doran's sort of hanging out in the threshold.
I mean, maybe I'll poke my head around just to see if
the mirrors light up is magical.
That's...
Yeah, you got magic mirrors.
Those two mirrors are magical.
What kind of magic is it?
Because the tech magic tells me what kind, right?
With school, yeah.
This is the same as asking me the name of an NPC.
Evocation.
Conjuration.
Conjuration, cool.
They're conjuration, so, you know, fair warning.
It is as I was a friend.
These are no doubt not vanity related at all.
I suppose we'll find out whether it's a classic elemental prison,
a evil twin situation.
Let's, okay.
And he's like going through all the possibilities of evil mirrors he can think of,
like very encyclopedically in his head, like option A, shadow evil twin,
option B, like a corporeal evil.
And he's just like, hmm, this could be anything, really.
There's no indication.
Can I make an Arcana check to see if I could make.
maybe figure out what kind of magic this is specifically?
Yes.
Please do.
Love it.
Absolutely.
That'll be a D20 plus nine for me.
Nice.
Boom.
Witted is a little flummox, but he gets a total of a 17.
You are not quite sure, really.
This magic is maybe just too ancient, too obscure.
Too magicy.
Too magicy.
If I had to guess, I would say whatever's going to happen will happen the moment one of us steps between those two mirrors, but that is merely a hypothesis.
Oh, I see what you did there.
Witted, since you might be the best equipped to deal with whatever happens, I'm happy to be the guinea pig.
Hmm.
You can see he looks concerned and sort of starts to flip up the visor a little bit.
No. It's magic. It should be me. I should do it.
Well, hold on. And Doran sort of overhears the conversation and pipes up with his head through the door.
And looking around the room, is there another exit that isn't passing between these mirrors?
Yes, there is. There is an exit to the south of the room, which would require you to move between the mirrors.
And there's an exit to the west of the room, which would not require you to move between the mirrors.
So Doran sort of looks over and says, hey, listen.
But before you guys try to, you know, start messing around with magic mirrors, I mean, hey, if there's anybody that knows the least about magic, it's me.
But I'm just thinking, maybe we'd check out that room first.
I'm a little concerned about, you know, one of you stepping into those mirrors and, well, never, never returning.
That's actually a good point.
I touched a statue once in the Stone Giant's Fortress, and I was sucked away to a plain of existential dread.
Yeah.
Oh.
I came back.
I mean, it's just a suggestion, that's all.
No, it's a good thought.
If we peer down that westerly hallway, do we see More Hall or do we see into another room?
You do see more hall beyond and then past the More Hall.
You see a segment of more room.
More Hall.
More halls and rooms.
Are those stairs?
How mysterious.
Rooms and halls and rooms.
I will confess, I think I got excited to see what would happen with the magic mirrors.
It is absolutely logical.
We should check this out first.
Well, look, we could split the party.
It's always done well for us in the past.
You know, Dora and I could check down here and you two could try Mirror World.
If you want to test it, I mean, look, with it, I don't know you practically at all.
Same with you, Tamil.
I mean, hey, I don't know what you guys are.
There's no loss for us.
Get out.
It's too early anyway.
I'll say this.
I'll feel very silly if there is a lever that disables magic mirrors in that room over there.
And I'm starting to think that that's a possibility.
I think we should check it out.
Red scoops up a rock from the ground and just tosses it between the mirrors.
Just like to see if anything happens.
Does it get like zapped out of air?
That's what I'm sure.
Yeah, Red.
pick up a little rock, toss it, and it clatters harmlessly against the other side of the floor.
Harmless!
Although it could be reacting to something living, but, um, I mean, I see no reason not to follow
Doran's idea.
Check out this other hallway.
Surely these mirrors will be here and make a return.
Definitely, definitely.
Red's starting to like, at least like staring at the rock on the other side.
Rocks aren't living, are they?
No, they're not red.
Then Doran sort of hears you mumbling to yourself.
Almost never.
But not never, never.
Who wants to lead the way then?
I don't mind.
I'm right by it.
Red starts walking down.
I have a passive investigation of 17.
So I'm hoping that will aid me as I step by step walk down this hallway.
But I can also roll.
I'm going to be checking for traps.
Okay.
Roll to check for traps.
Investigation or survival or sexy.
can you do it the sexy way what is that minus five sexiness i mean your character is
canonically asexual so that's true that doesn't mean that other characters wouldn't find you sexy
that's true yes let's get to the bottom of this okay screw this dungeon tonight i think the sexy
scene of red trying to find traps is it just starts with wah wah wah wah wah wah wah and he struts in to the room
Just Doran doing that, just singing that in the background.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, roll an investigation check for me, please.
You got this.
That is a dirty 20.
Fantastic.
How dirty.
As you walk.
As you begin to walk down this hallway, you notice a couple of things.
First of all, the dripping sound is getting a little bit more.
distance? Also, I'm looking up. I should make that crystal clear.
Oh, okay.
You don't die.
Also, I'm looking up.
The dripping sound begins to get a little bit more distant.
Oh.
And there's like a weird smell.
Listen, you smell that?
What does it smell like?
Yeah, weird like decomposition, weird like organic.
Popcorn.
Burning
Like
Just like toast
Red roll for seizure
Like a weird
Metal smell
Oh
I don't recognize it
Does it smell like blood
Might a blacksmith
Recognize this
Whatever red keeps going
Traps seem safe
Right
So red is leading the way
Followed by Witted
And then Tamil
Super nervously obviously
Everyone's like really like
To roll for it
I mean
What are you rolling for
If Doren recognizes
is this scent
You don't smell anything
Oh, I don't
Oh
I mean Doran's not in the hallway
Yeah no okay
Now you can
Sorry
I hadn't got there yet
I was waiting for whim to go ahead
Everyone's like
Do you smell that
And Doran's like no
I'll bring up the rear
Okay
What's that smell?
Do I know that smell?
He asks himself
Fact
Um
Roll a smell investigation
Okay, which might be under the category of maybe nature or...
More like investigation.
Strength, maybe?
If I do 20 push-ups, what do I smell?
Roll investigation.
13.
You also smell metal.
Right.
You smell that medley smell, darn?
But do I recognize the metal?
Is there like a metal shop down here or something?
I don't think so.
Okay.
It could be metal left over from the other metal stuff happening in the other room.
Who knows?
Cool.
And red will enter the room to the west.
You stand at the threshold of a 20 foot by 20 foot square room.
Four carved pillars support an intricate ceiling.
There's a series of steps and walkways that ascend to the north of the room.
And an ancient looking crate sits at the base of the north wall.
The ceiling is composed of a series of interlocking metal sheet.
each of them etched with a unique image.
What do you see up there?
It's a room.
Joe just described it.
How many images are there?
There are 16 panels on the ceiling, each with a unique image.
This is most certainly some sort of puzzle, everyone.
Get ready.
Oh, I'm going to puzzle.
Oh, puzzle.
If we look at the image that's right above the panel next to the door,
basically right above the threshold, what does it look like?
You see the image of the coronation of some noble ruler,
somebody holding a scepter and they're being crowned from behind.
Okay, so this is not like, it's not iconography.
It's like a full kind of scene.
Okay, okay.
Can I continue looking around for traps?
Does it seem like I could step forward?
You can step forward.
You can do whatever you want.
Why not like, let me clarify, I would like to continue to look around.
Sure. Roll investigation.
Tamil, give me a hand. I can't, I can't quite figure this out.
Yeah, I mean, of course.
They've got these panels.
What is that sticking out of the wall over there?
Yeah, and just will kind of, even if it seems insignificant,
we'll just be pointing things out,
hoping that something from like, you know,
something will spark an insight from red.
Cool.
Do I roll with advantage?
I would allow you to do either both of you rolling,
and we'll take the higher, or Harlan, you can roll twice.
What's your investigate?
It's plus one.
I'm happy to leave this to you.
Mine's only plus three, but I'll take it because that's better than one.
I rolled a two and a seven.
Oh, no.
So we got a 10.
Red, you figure if you guys really cared about it,
you could probably pry these plates off the ceiling.
Hey, guys, free plates!
Would that disable the puzzle, though?
Puzzle? I don't see a puzzle.
Red walks forward foolishly.
Oh, there we go.
All right, now hold on.
Don't you start taking stuff.
That's how puzzles work.
Now hold on.
Red's like three things under his arm.
What?
Oh.
No, yeah, he'll walk into the room and listen.
He knows his place.
He goes and chills in the corner and stretches out for a minute.
Awesome.
Timil's going to make room for Witted
by moving a little bit closer to the southeasterly pillar
and just start kind of casually looking at that.
You casually looking at the Selborne pillar?
No, you don't see any markings that are more interesting than these beautifully intricate scenes arrayed on the ceiling above you.
You see this fantastical creature, almost like some kind of herd animal or beast of burden that's like in this waving field of grass, this really pastoral scene right above the column that you're standing underneath and then adjacent.
to that. It's like this fortress
that's like built in the sky
all around the top spire of a
mountain. Are these a story?
Do you think? If it's a puzzle
maybe there's an order, right?
I'd like to take a look at this room too. Come on.
Oh, I honestly thought
Let me through. You would have
killed us all by now, ready to get the room like that.
I just thought the next square was...
Doren recklessly pushes his way into the room.
I'm trying to get in. And as he does,
Oh no, don't tell me, I stepped on the flipping trap.
Everyone hears a little click.
Fuck.
Uh-oh.
Well, I thought you guys checked this room for traps already.
I did.
Polly, red hops up.
And then all around the columns, these clouds of pinkish mist begin to seep out and spread along the floor.
Clank.
Oh, fuck, yeah.
Everybody roll for initiative.
Dun-ton-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-d-d-da.
Not only does Witted's helmet slam down onto his head,
you see the eyes actually light up for really the first time,
and there's this, like, line moving back and forth.
He's scanning around and activating his helm of awareness to get advantage on initiative.
Oh, fantastic.
That's awesome.
That's cool.
All right, Nick, what did Tamil get?
16.
Doran?
A 10.
Red?
19.
And Witted.
16 as well.
Okay.
Tamil, Witted.
Which one of you would like to go first?
Tammil, please.
After you?
No, after you.
No, no.
But, please, please, I insist.
Is it obvious where the myths are coming from?
Is there a vent or any...
Yeah, there are like these teeny little,
because you were, like, looking at this column.
you notice that there are these teeny little nozzles
sort of concealed around the base.
So they seem to be coming out of these four columns.
All right, red.
Top of the order.
Yeah, Red hops up and does a quick scan around the room.
Maybe I'll roll perception for anything that I might have missed.
Or is that, is everything already defined?
You can roll perception if you like.
Well, I don't want to wait your time.
We're all just playing D&D.
I don't remember anyone rolling particularly high,
so I'll roll again in case there was something.
Sure.
We missed something.
Special that we missed.
That is 24.
Yeah, you can see from your vantage point now
and having sort of seen Doran's path throughout the room
that there's this very well-concealed pressure plate
that you would have walked on once
and that Doran hit for the second time.
So, like, a trap was armed and then executed.
Interesting.
And the ceiling is covered in depictions.
One's a coronation.
One is a mountainous hill.
One has a great beast.
Yeah, like a variety of scenes from some ancient civilization.
Are they far out of reach?
Being that you have sort of ascended the stairs and are up at the northern end of the room,
you're closer to the ceiling than everyone else.
it's maybe 10 feet up.
And then toward the southern end of the room, it's about 20 feet up.
So you've ascended like a little platform area.
Yeah, and he'll inspect the images.
As far as I can tell, they're the only unique item in this room.
The puzzle could be as simple as stepping off the plate.
But if it does require someone to be high, then at least I'm up here.
And he'll sort of examine the pictograms up close.
Why do you have like a, you're an idiot look.
No, I'm sorry.
Like you fell for my trap.
No, no, like, the crate is a mimic and you die.
Yeah, well, yeah, you look at this image.
It's a scene of domestic life.
There is a kitchen, a couple of people baking some kind of bread, maybe, preparing for a feast.
Yeah, and he'll touch it and, you know, see if it moves or anything.
Yeah, did you want to, like, try to pull it off or something?
Yeah, make a strength check.
Well, fucked guys, sorry, I tried.
can I can I use like my bow as leverage for like you can use the tool absolutely perfect I will use my bow
great it's in my hand and unbreakable because it's magic and bows don't bend you're still just rolling
1d20 19 hey yeah you crank asta up underneath one of the lips of this metal plate and with a
mighty heave you are able to dislodge the metal plate from the ceiling revealing just some
bricks underneath, and you have a plate.
It's five by five, kind of heavy.
And does it seem like there's space above, like it's a drop ceiling, or it's just like
this ceiling?
There is some very ancient plaster that would have affixed this metal plate to the ceiling,
and clouds of it come off of the ceiling and fall on your face.
I was picturing like a Jurassic Park, like we got to get up above it.
What the hell you're doing, this is not the type of renovations.
It's like gorgeous.
It's a piece of art.
It's like very slightly marred on the one side where your bow went in.
Red will take it for now.
Cool.
That's your turn.
The ceiling is nothing to do with it.
They're not magical.
The images don't seem to be able to move.
Whatever stops this, it's somewhere down there.
I thought that was a good turn.
Yeah.
It's a great turn.
Yeah, you've, you've like gotten rid of some of the shit that I was going to waste time on.
Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah, this is an escape room style.
We had to cover ground.
Yeah, yeah.
Absolutely.
Thank you.
No one came out and was like, don't touch the ceiling panel.
They're not part of it.
Anything above the one?
You idiot.
You wasted your entire turn.
Temeel, it's your turn.
Kidding.
Can you describe these nozzles a little bit?
Do the nozzles seem like
there's something that could be crushed
to be sealed off?
They're about the size of the tip of your pinky,
maybe the first pinky joint.
And there are two of them
on each cardinal direction of the pillar.
so probably eight per.
They look like they're probably made out of copper or bronze,
some kind of burnished gold type looking metal.
And I guess if you were dedicated and strong,
you could smash them if you wanted to do that.
Yeah.
It's not like doors closed in the room, right?
Like we can still just walk out of here if we wanted to.
Yeah, totally.
Yeah, Tamil's going to use 15 feet of her movement
to swing around so that she can peer down this door to the south of this room.
Phenomenal.
As a first step.
You peer through the southern doorway to reveal a short hallway that seems to exit to the east.
More hall.
We could just run, but Tamil's going to take the butt of static and try to just whack one of the nozzles that's closest to her to see if she can just like collapse it to close it so it's not able to spew out the smoke anymore.
It falls off and all comes pouring out.
Yeah.
I'm not going to make you roll to hit because that thing's not going to be trying to dodge you or anything, but you can roll damage.
Oh, damage.
Hell yeah.
That's 13 damage, but that's just base, not activating any of the lightning stuff or anything, because it's not an enemy.
Yeah.
This is electrical.
It just starts.
You take aim at these nozzles and you crush two of them in one fell blow.
Ooh.
Hmm. Does anything happen? Different happen? Like gas stop coming?
No. There's no more gas coming. The gas is here.
Oh, it was a once and done. The gas is present and billowing. I didn't understand it.
Okay. Is it dissipating? No.
Yeah, okay.
Okay. noticing that this stuff isn't spreading and it's not dissipating,
Timil's going to just take the tip of static and shove it at the mist cloud that's directly in front of.
of her.
Stab the mist.
I stab the mist,
just to see if there's
anything in the mist.
The mist that Doren's in,
right?
Yes.
Yeah.
Who knows?
Stop the one that's
Doren.
Guys, there's a monster
in this mist.
Let's kill it.
The smoke clears.
Beating his ass.
Yeah.
Roll to hit the mist.
Beating this shit of it.
Unreal.
This is,
we are in weird territory
already here.
Uh-huh.
Uh,
that's a 29 to hit.
Whoa!
You hit that mist so good.
So hard.
You hit the particulates of mist.
You certainly do.
How much damage do you deal to the mist?
Seriously?
Okay.
Well, 13 damage, but if it's a thing,
then I can also do my extra D8.
I'm going to roll that.
Sure.
If that's going to make you happy, roll your...
I'm going to roll it.
I don't love this.
I'm doing it now.
18 damage.
I'm not taking it back.
Are we all asleep?
18 damage total?
Fantastic.
You kill the mist.
Are these vampires?
The mist like pulses in response and these strange pink veins, these tendrils,
extend out for a second from this mist and then retract.
Okay.
Tamil will, I'm going to see what happens here.
Tamil's going to take a step into the southerly hallway.
Okay.
Which, if I was in anything's threatened radius,
it would be able to take an opportunity attack on me.
Smart.
Nothing happens.
You killed an innocent mist, Camille.
That mist was a quest-giving mist.
That's right.
I wanted to grunge eternal life.
There's a plot important mist.
Everyone, I feel a little out to sea here.
I have no idea what to do, but...
I think I overreacted.
I climbed up on this thing.
I thought the mist was spreading.
Doran's standing there with his, like, axe in his hands,
and he's holding his breath.
He's like, just looking around watching all this occur.
But is it even surrounding us or just on our feet?
Doren is about nipple deep in mist.
Okay.
But that's still only, like, half for normal people.
Yeah.
Yeah, like wastey.
Every time.
Yeah.
Witted.
It's your turn.
What do you do?
So the mist did seem to react to the attack, but did or didn't seem to get hurt by it?
Hard to say.
Did you want to roll insight on this mist?
I think I do 100%.
Or can it be insight or arcana?
Um, hmm.
I could see this happen to be in sight.
No, I'm going to say that's insight.
100%.
Oh, I would be able to be able to.
to see if these things are magic, right?
Yeah, you would.
They are not.
So I would shout that too.
Just be like,
this mist is not magical mist.
So I would have said that or something.
Well, then figuring out what it wants,
is that my specialty?
Uh, uh, I look around with the nine.
I'm like, I don't know what this mist wants.
Kill it with it.
It seems we're a bit miffed over this.
It seems it causes to be a bit foggy.
Oh, good, good.
Now we're getting into the pun.
Witted, you are not able to ascertain the needs or wants of this mist.
Everything, you see you're looking, and he's mostly upset because most of his attacks would hit multiple teammates if he were to do them.
I am not going to do that.
Instead, I'm going to follow in this almost like I don't have a better idea kind of way and I don't like it.
What Tamil did, I'm going to kind of take, well, apologies.
What I really want to do is look around the room and see if I can't figure out how to maybe solve some element of a puzzle here, just looking around for clues, maybe hidden doors, something along those lines.
Is that possible for me to do while also taking a swipe?
Yeah, you can, listen, the way that I run ability checks during combat is pretty loosey-goosey, depending on, like, the amount of stuff you're trying to do.
so it's like you know the way that shouting is a free action but like having an entire conversation
might take up your turn 100 so if you want to like take a swing at something and use your action that way
and then also go and investigate that's fine with me um within reasons all right both gauntlets of my
are raised in the air and i almost try to give like a big hug as I swipe through the air trying to clap
the mist almost between my hands and as you see that there's this crackling energy forming around
the big and little gauntlet of my armor.
I'm doing two thunder gauntlet attacks.
Whoa.
Wow, okay. Roll to hit.
Boom.
Thunder god.
Did I just roll that?
Did I really just roll the one right now?
That just happened to me.
Oh, no.
Shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame, shame.
What have I done?
Share, churn, churn.
Put it in the shame jar.
I am going to shame.
Shame on that die.
I appreciate that, actually.
I thought I was being shamed.
So this is basically, I'll definitely pass.
Did you think I was saying shame at you?
No.
I did.
I did for a second.
Shame.
No, no.
I'm talking about it.
Shame on the die.
I'm all bored on this now.
Absolutely.
I am on board.
Way better.
There's nothing like having a plus 11 and then rolling a nat one.
I got to say.
Seriously.
That's brutal.
That's not so about.
12?
You attack this mist
and it almost sort of like
oozes away from your swing
the first time.
And then your second thunderous clap
grabs a big mittful of this
mist substance.
Roll your damage.
That'll be 1D8 plus 7
force damage for the thunder gauntlet that hit.
13. And is, are you attacking the mist that's directly to your west or the one that
Tamil got with her spear? Unfortunately, I'm kind of feeling like the one to my west is the one more
at my level. And I may, even if I could reach down to go for the other one, I'm going to stick with
the one on my level kind of boxing in red there. So yeah. Sure, sure. Excellent. 13 missed damage.
Absolutely. Damaged missed. It missed. So therefore. There you go.
And then I will just take a look around to see if there's anything that's solvable here, anything in terms of any patterns.
Can I ask you a question about your robot fists?
Are they considered magical weapons?
They are considered.
So not by default, but one of my augmentations, one of my infusions, is making them plus two thunder gauntlets.
So they are magical currently.
And I think they'll force damage for what that's worth.
Cool.
No reason.
Do not take that into a fast.
You just tipped your hand, I now know.
I say anything could work.
Anything's on the table.
Use all things.
And I absolutely will take a look around with an investigation check maybe.
Sure.
You know attention to the one way behind the curtain.
Absolutely.
Are you kidding me?
Did I roll another one right now?
No.
Holy moly.
Shame on YouTube.
No, I'm kidding.
Oh, no.
Yes.
Yeah.
Second time, shame on me.
Crip fail me once.
Shame on the dice.
Crit fail me twice.
Shame on the roller.
There's something there.
It's because I didn't shame it the first time.
That's right.
Not adequately.
Yeah.
Shame.
It's okay.
Excellent.
Did you want to do anything else with your turn?
No, I think that'll be it.
Yep.
Phenomenal.
Oh, is it my turn?
It is your turn.
You are nipple deep and missed.
Oh, tickles.
And I'm holding my breath, and I'm sort of starting to go blue.
It's been about a minute and a half.
It's been six seconds.
Six?
Okay.
He can hold his breath for about a minute, minute and a half.
Yep.
So looking at where the mist is, is there anything about these four center tiles that stands out?
Roll an investigation check for me, please.
Okay.
That would be a natural 20.
Oh.
Dorn.
Which is a street.
Kiss, kiss, kiss.
It's getting through.
Zero, zero.
Kiss the mist.
I kissed it.
Oh, kiss the mist.
Dorn, there doesn't appear to be any other pressure plates in the room.
None other.
Just the one that you had activated, that's currently to your northeast.
Just the one that we both stepped on.
Okay.
That's right.
Yeah, so red stepped.
But I didn't trigger it.
On my fault.
You activated.
Innocent red.
Okay.
Additionally, with your natural 20 investigation check,
you feel a needling of your skin as you spend some time in this mist
that something is about to happen to you.
Okay, well, do I have a minute?
No, you don't.
You have six seconds.
Okay.
Well.
Everyone wait.
Everyone hold up.
Mists?
Missed.
One minute.
Is it a good tingling?
Is the sensation on,
on my skin.
I don't want to leave.
Guys, you've got to stand in one of these right now.
I'm telling you.
Chase this feeling.
I guess I wouldn't know unless I was there.
So you got to describe it best.
It's adjacent to the feeling where you are sitting on your leg for too long.
And you're beginning to sense like a strange energy in your nerves.
To be fair, that is exactly what I thought you meant.
So, yeah, because like falling asleep.
I was thinking more like, or is it like that feeling of static electricity close to you?
So, I mean, that, what you've described is more negative.
I think Thorne is holding his breath still and noticing now that he's not on a pressure plate takes a step back.
Mm-hmm.
Right towards.
The needling's just coming from him holding his breath.
It's just like, it's like self-inflicted.
You're starting to pass out.
He's starting to pass out.
And it's choking me.
And maybe just a.
describes the feeling to his companions, compatriots here.
I don't know.
Now letting go of his breath.
It's sort of starting to make my skin go a little numb.
You know, sort of like when you fall asleep on your foot or whatever.
Right, right.
Damn, is it still feel like that now that you're out of the mist?
Hmm.
Starting to go away.
Good.
Yeah.
Good.
Yeah, it was good.
I'm not really sure if there's any danger here.
How you doing?
That's it for you, Dorn.
Yeah.
Okay.
Next turn, we have the mist.
Oh, my gosh.
Finally.
I'm still readied, FYI.
Sure, whatever that means.
Doran, as you step out of the mist and observe the mist, the mist slides over you and rolls over into your space.
Oh.
Seems to have followed me.
Make a Constitution saving throw, please.
Oh, woof, whiff.
You got this.
That's only an 11.
Ooh.
Doran.
Mm-hmm.
Nine necrotic damage.
Oh, whoa.
I think it's eating my skin.
And your hit point maximum is also reduced by nine.
Oh, no.
As the mist rolls into your space,
these like strange pink tendrils sort of like appear out of the mist
and, like, sink themselves into the gaps in your armor
and, like, almost, like, aspirate life essence from you.
And then the mist seems to, like, shiver in delight.
Guys, it's not, it's pretty painful, actually.
It's starting to...
Ow. It's pretty uncomfortable, actually.
Likewise, we're going to see some flying mist attacks.
Tamil, the mist that you attacked with your javelin
moves into your space, please make a constitution saving throw for me.
Heck yeah.
Heck yeah, I'd love to.
Oh, thank gosh.
That's a 19.
You're fine.
These tendrils reach out for you and you are able to evade them.
Does it like hit me at all?
No.
It's like questing for you.
But you're able to sort of like dodge these strange like veins?
Don't humanize the mist.
Witted, the mist that you clapped with your robot hands swarms over you.
It's tendrils seeking your flesh.
Please make a constitution saving throw.
I say seal all the areas of the ship.
Make it seal proof.
No, no, no.
And it's seeping in through the cracks in the armor.
But I do have a decent saving throw here.
Oh, no, 11 is not enough.
I cannot.
I couldn't remember the name of the control to seal the suit.
I'm fumbling around.
Yeah, you just start, like, hitting a bunch of buttons.
A rocket goes out.
Witted takes 12 damage, and your hit point maximum is also reduced by 12.
Just a reminder that everyone should have 14 temp HP.
That's not going to affect the hit point max, but.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Great memory.
Great call.
Yes.
So the way that that works
is your damage that you take
eats away your temporary HP
before it eats away your normal HP
but your normal
HP maximum will be
reduced as
red
the final cloud of
mist
climbs up towards you where you stand on top of your
crate and engulfs
your legs and butt area
make a constitution
saving throat, please.
Nope, that's an eight.
Jeez.
Oof.
Okay.
Not great, everybody.
You take 12 drain on your HP as well as 12 damage.
Oh, boy.
Next up we have Wim.
She's standing in the doorway, looking down at the four of you in absolute horror as you
are all just sucked up.
I feel like she's like, one, two, three, four, and then one.
One, two, three, four.
She's like, okay.
Call Gregalek.
Call Gregalek.
Works for me.
Daddy!
Wim is going to...
I mean, we should have tried the mirror hall!
That's great call.
Wim raises a hand from where she stands in the threshold of this room, and then a moat of
fire appears in her open palm, and she just shoots it forward at the cloud of mist that's
engulfing wooded in front of her.
and it hits with a 22.
Nice.
She deals fucking 19 damage.
Nice.
And the mist explodes in a shower of blood.
It rains down all over Witted.
So your armor is just speckled in blood spatter.
Oh, grizzly.
You see a poor blood-sucked, Witted, like,
the creepy thing I feel like is that the armor's fine.
It's Witted, Client.
climbing out who looks horribly messed up and it's just like, thank you for that.
Wimba.
Yeah. So creepy. And then she takes like a terrified step backwards into the hallway a little bit.
Fair.
Next up, top of the round, we have red.
Go on, red.
Red shifts a little bit. Is the thing attached to his skin or can he step away from it?
Seems like you can step away.
Get off me, you gross thing.
And he turns around seeing the one that's attached itself to Tamil.
and remembering that she did some damage,
he's going to fire at that,
hoping to kill that one first
so we can all focus fire down the others.
Fantastic.
Hell yeah.
Additionally, I have Colossus Slayer,
so if something's been hurt, I do more damage.
Ooh.
That's my motivation.
Nice, nice, nice.
Oh, that's nice.
These aren't humanoid, right?
They don't seem to be.
Good try.
No, so that's how you know.
That's a 24 to hit.
You do.
My best friend is a piece of mist
with some pink vein tendrils, so...
Math, math, math, math.
That's going to be 28 damage.
Absolutely.
Wow, yeah.
This mist explodes all around Temeel
as your arrow shatters its vein system
and she's covered in a shower of blood.
Sorry.
No, thank you very much.
Well, it was weak.
You can help me with this one
And Red will then...
Well, he'll probably also help Doran then, too,
because he loves Doran.
Yep.
I hope so.
21 to hit?
You do.
I think Doran sees this coming.
Watch where you're shooting that thing.
I've seen you game at trees.
That's a 17.
Excellent.
Well done.
17 damage. Yep.
And, I mean, Red will probably move as far as he can away
from the one that was next to him.
Excellent.
There's no benefit to not to be there.
So you hop down off the ledge and find yourself.
Yeah, he'll go to the far, the southern, eastern corner.
Perfect.
Southeastern corner.
Tamil, you're up.
What do you do?
Tamil's going to step back into the room and she's going to pay it forward.
She'll look over at the mist that is currently surrounding Doran and she'll take a stab at it with static.
Oh.
Do so.
And Doran's again looking quite nervous at people, you know, aiming their weapons and swiping towards him.
Friends of all.
Like, home alone, you got a spider on you.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mom, what do you doing?
What are you doing?
Well, I did roll a Nat 1.
So.
Timil, what are you doing?
Shit.
That's three Nat 1s this session.
Yeah.
That has probably got some ramifications.
Normally, I don't think this matters.
But when you are engulfed in the thing that is the target,
roll damage against Doran.
That's 14 damage.
Okay.
Oh, Doran.
You know what?
To be fair, 14 is the temporary hit points you gave me.
So to be fair.
It's just like it never happened.
Temeel giveth.
Yeah.
Meal taketh away.
It doesn't feel great.
Maybe those back.
Your fear was merited, Doran.
Okay, so then Tamil stabs into Doorman.
Ah, shit! I'm so sorry!
She's going to shift her grip on static,
realizing that this is probably too close combat,
and she doesn't want to have to deal with that anyway.
She doesn't want to risk Doran any further.
She'll shift her grip on static,
and these kind of tongues of lightning start to arc off of her shoulder
and down her arm towards the shaft of the javelin.
I'm activating arc, which will change.
the extra damage to ranged attacks, and then I'm going to throw this javelin at the mist
that was where red was standing. Cool. Cool. I love that. Uh, that is a 21 to hit. Absolutely.
And that is 14 damage to that one. Fantastic. Nice. Static flies across the room,
pins itself into the crate around which this vampiric mist is billowing. And then you're without your
weapon. So as Tameel throws static, those arcs of lightning, those arcs of electricity,
they stay attached basically to the end of static and her arm. So it looks like an extension.
And then once it embeds itself in the crate, she kind of almost looks like she's pulling back
on something and static returns to her and she grabs it out of the air as it comes flying back
her way. Art course. I love that. Cool. And of your turn? That is the end of my turn. Well done.
Whitted, it's your turn.
Witted definitely loves that move.
I think that that got Witted.
Good use of a magic item.
And you hear Wittick go, hardcore, awesome.
That's why it's called static because it, inertia, that's so good.
Ah, damn it, ah, man.
And you see him almost like still distracted by how rad that concept of a magic item is,
starts to like rise up into the air on his boots of flying.
Just to get up to up.
to the level of this mist to his northwest.
And then in midair, very Ironman homage,
the gauntlets just start,
and he starts punching at this mist.
Nice, very cool.
Punch your way.
And the thunder gauntlet.
I said lightning before,
but I'm thinking they look more like the weapons in Dune
or like how a Vibro Sword would probably look
where he's still like, like they seem to be moving really quickly.
Oh, cool.
Oh, 30 on his foot.
first attack against this miss.
Surprisingly, a 30 does hit.
It is a hit.
Excellent.
And that'll be 13 damage against the mist.
Phenomenal.
Witted, as you punch this mist, again, it just explodes like an over full mosquito.
And the wall around is just splattered in blood.
Absolutely.
With his second attack, then, he goes down from where he's hovering at the upper levels
in the northern half of the room.
and just goes sweeping down across the middle levels
of the room and slams down at the ground
on the southern end of the room,
hitting the ground as he's delivering the punch into the mist.
Nice, phenomenal.
Absolutely, and that'll be another 30.
Hell yeah.
Holy-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
Neither crits, but double-19s right there,
making my luck back.
Nice.
Damage?
Eight, eight.
Eight damage.
Yeah, this mist takes another juicy hit,
but it's still clinging.
on just for dear life.
If it looks like that's dear life,
I am going to do, if I can do one bonus action in that case,
I wouldn't have done it unless I thought he was going to possibly die from this.
As I'm delivering the second punch,
I'm like punching into all the veins in his like misty form.
And from out of the bottom of my arm,
a little cavity opens up.
It's the homunculus again.
Come scuttling out and will deliver.
Just the puniest little attack to try.
to finish this guy off and just fly straight into his heart and starts like pecking at some of
the veins there that will be a spell attack modifier which is oh dang plus nine it looks like okay
whoa 14 yes is a hit absolutely you hit and the homunculus is going to deal um but bup but bup
1d4 plus 4 damage in all that's it this could be it guys
A little baby.
A little baby.
Seven points of damage.
Your homunculus is similarly showered in a rain of blood as this final cloud of mist is dispatched.
Amazing.
Well done, Reggie.
Says the suit as it retracts into the arm.
You're standing right in front of Doran, who's like, Evil Dead style just covered in blood.
Splashed.
Are we out of initiative?
We drop out of initiative, yes.
Tamil rushes over to Doran and takes his head in her hands.
Doria, shit, I'm so sorry.
And I'm going to cast lesser restoration on him.
Okay.
See if this gets rid of that hit point maximum reduction.
Oh.
You are not able to recover your maximum hit points.
Shit.
Tamil is fussing over you.
She's maybe even a little too concerned.
a little too heightened as a result of this.
Shit, Dorrit, I'm so sorry.
Are you all right?
How many feelings and fingers am I holding up?
Dora sort of shrugs you off again.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
Listen, Tamil, I'm not offended in the least.
Hey, listen, I understand the intent of you're trying to hit the mist and not me.
It's okay.
But I'll tell you, I have a real firsthand respect for them how a pain you can inflict on someone.
That was, uh, and just feeling the pain of those little tenets.
Almost feels like they got smaller and smaller, they were seeping into my nerves.
I could feel them, you know, crawling on the edge of my bones.
Whim gingerly re-enters the room, stepping wide around the space of this depressed floorplate.
You think it would squirt more out?
What the hell were those?
Witted, any idea?
That's certain.
I would like to, if there's an arcana or religion check, I would try that.
But some of the detheries at origin, perhaps?
You could roll a nature check or a history check.
Oh, history for sure.
Can anyone get in on that?
Yeah.
I got a 25 on that knowledge.
This is where widowed shines.
Nice.
Are we doing history or nature?
Just be history.
Excellent.
Yeah.
You recall from some research or long-forgotten conversation,
tales of a vampiric mist.
this is an undead creature of sorts that must have been tethered to these pillars for millennia
just released by the five of you now this creature was sucking your blood it is a very distant
relative of the common vampire this was vampiric mist not uncommon used in nethery's traps
Certainly, one of the more frequently storable undead is a good way to put them.
Ah, well, add it to one of your entry books.
Monsters we fought, number one.
I certainly will.
I don't seem to be able to affect the, I don't know, some of the damage it's done to you.
Do you know how that can get fixed?
Do I know?
With a 25?
Yeah, you guys probably just need a nice long rest.
After a brief period of rest, we should be able to recover in short amount of time.
Just a regular night's rest.
I mean, are you all still all right to move forward?
Doren sort of shrugs and...
I'll be all right.
I'll be fine.
You get a little knock on your shoulder.
Like, Temeel punches your shoulder jovialyly.
And I think Doren even puts up his fist and he goes, get part of there.
And a props to you.
Kind of takes that, Timmel, will props you back.
All right.
I'll, as penance, I'll take us down this hallway then.
And she'll start to head down the hallway.
I'll be right behind you.
You okay with me?
Ritz, like, hangs back with women for a second.
Yeah, she's a little shaken up.
I don't think you've ever seen her quite like this.
That was like, I think, creepier than she was expecting.
And she signs, like, I feel a bit nauseous.
Yeah, I don't blame you.
There's a lot of creepy crawlies out there,
and that one got literally under my skin.
Let's just
Keep an eye out again
She asks if you're okay
Oh yeah
Can't this nifty metal plate
Red Taps this like giant
555 metal plate
Are you dragging it with you?
Oh
It was a comedy of that moment
Yes
Very good
Very good
It would be nice
It would just fight some
You know normal
You know
Reanimated skeletons
Or zombies or something
And not these weird gross things
You know
I think we might be
Well past that
and feeling guilty that she can't heal
she's just going to press to digitate
the blood and gore off of everybody's armor.
There you go, I'm sorry.
Very thoughtful.
Appreciate it.
All right.
I don't mind it being cleaned out of the inside, at least.
And red will take up the rear.
All right, I just want to say thanks again to all of our wonderful Patreon supporters.
And usually it takes me so long to read this, so I'm going to take a stab at going a little bit quicker here.

I just got why you said Click for the first one. I had already started recording, so it'll have three claps, I guess.
Apologies. That's actually annoying. I shouldn't have done it. Damn it's all good. I always think the last two anyway. It doesn't matter. It's all arbitrary. Half the time I line it up by like mood anyway. I'm kind of like this feels like. Absolutely.
Yeah, vibes. I edit on vibes. Clap on vibes. Edit on vibes.
Play on vibes. Good luck. Have fun. Mm-hmm. It's like seeing everybody. I'm excited to play.
Yeah, see you on the other side, Ireland. See you on the other side. Good luck. If we may be.
