Why wouldn't you just let me fire bolt the door?
Can't figure out whose room this is?
I retract my pitch.
Fair enough, fair enough.
Sometimes you just know these things.
You can call me double D.
Reggie could get it if there was a way to squeeze through.
God, with these mechanisms, don't taste it.
Should we make this our new base?
Do you understand what this means?
This should work.
Oh, my God.
It's an escape room, guys.
It is.
Look around.
Look at the room.
This is a whole idea.
I'm going to start turning over the table.
Temeal takes the key and starts bashing the dials.
Alex gets drunk and smash this.
I mean, Doren.
Oh, no.
Welcome back to Dishame.
MVP this week is AJAX, who hasn't started listening, but is going to very soon.
And it'll only take 153 episodes of, well, of season two.
So that's like 303 in order to hear their name.
So here you go, Ajax, your MVP.
I hope you make it this far.
All right, should we play some D&D?
Yeah, let's do it.
Woohoo!
Ha ha!
Deep in the heart of Iron Slag,
the party has found what they presume to be an important.
room. Perhaps the bedchambers of Duke Zolto. One immediate problem presents itself. The door is
massive, over 20 feet tall, and the doorknob is prohibitively far above the ground. Okay. Tell me about
your efforts in opening this door. Well, we open it like we did the last one. End of story. Next.
No question needed. Who's standing on whose shoulders? Doran's pushing. Just levitate.
allow you to go vertically or horizontally?
Levitate?
Because Wittittitt has levitate, right?
I do have levitate, yes.
I also can use my boots of flying
to just sort of hover around.
So I was planning on going above and pushing
while people push from below.
That's smart.
And how much weight does Mage Hand use?
It's like five pounds, 10 pounds like that?
Levitate is just vertical.
I can use the boat again, the folding boat.
Just use it to push the door.
You would see Witted kind of.
of preferring he's got his arm out
and is holding his arm gun style
as the gun pops out and he's just ready
a firebolt like at the door
or actually would and then
suddenly has a thought that that's probably
a dumb idea and
ready's a different can't trip most likely
but no I don't have anything else really
to ready no I'll push I'll push yeah
oh did the doors open
out or in when the pot was thrown
out so the pole door
well I feel like then we can also use
science
science rules
like if we tied a rope
then you know
with enough leverage
it would become easier
absolutely
we could just turn the pot
and use it like a wheel
well I think
we could pull this open
and if I just
and he sort of like
walks over to Witted
maybe comically
starting to climb
onto your shoulder
Witten's hovering in the air
and is totally fine with you
as you try to climb up onto
to him and he goes, all right, um, law of inertia.
I don't know how this is exactly going to pat out necessarily.
I'm doing the bath.
I don't really, hmm, hold on.
I have this image of, like, Doran, like, climbing up the side of Widdett's body and his, like,
valves and stuff.
Like, your body's kind of, like, moving with the weight of Doran climbing on you as you,
but you're still maintaining okay, and Doreen kind of gets up onto your shoulders area.
Absolutely.
As you're climbing up there, you can tell he's like, all right, okay, yeah.
Okay, absolutely.
It's like almost like an animal is climbing on you
and you don't know what it's going to do next.
If you like, if maybe you go back down a little bit,
dig your feet into the ground or not.
You just grab onto the,
and he sort of grabs the handle of the door.
Yeah.
So you're hovering in front of this like dinner plate sized doorknob.
Right into me all just like looking at you like, oh God.
Okay.
This was COVID 10 minutes ago.
Yeah, shit.
It's a group asset.
I hover up towards the knob.
The doorknob is like,
more ornate than the previous
latches and levers
that were used to close the other doors.
And as you go up, Doran
and like get your hands
around it and try to like pull,
it doesn't move.
Oh, fuck. Oh, I think it might be locked.
Oh, are you kidding me right now?
Doren sort of fumbles a bit
and now dangles from the handle of the door
after slipping off of his shoulders.
It just sort of like harmlessly drops back down to the ground.
Oh, locked.
I could jump up there and try to pick it, I suppose.
But then we'd still have to do the same to open it.
Let's try it.
I had a chime of opening.
Did I get rid of that?
How could you?
A chime of opening?
That would have been...
If only was this in this.
Pretty sick.
To be fair, a dragon needed a donation.
Oh, that's fair.
We couldn't you give them?
Fair enough?
You got shook down by a...
I got, yeah, for real, we got shook down.
A dragon.
I'm wondering, Joe, do our thieves tools, do we think they would work on any lock that we can see on this door, being human-sized?
I mean, it depends on your skill with thieves tools.
Like, your hands aren't going to go inside the lock necessarily.
It's not like that big, but you also didn't really see a place to put a key.
Dorn, can you see into the room through the hole?
There's no keyhole.
No, but it's quite an ornate.
Handle. Is there any
space in the door at all?
Can we see to the room at all?
It's pretty tight.
Okay.
Whittid's going to keep hovering then
and try to do a careful inspection
of this door and the handle in particular
to see if there's any evidence on how to
open this. You can roll an investigation
check for me.
That'll be a total of a 17?
Yeah, you don't see
any place where a key would
be inserted. There's no aspect
where you could figure on inserting
thieves tools.
It doesn't appear to be trapped if that's any consolation.
Witted, you can tell more so than something that he can't succeed at.
Witted not being able to figure out how to do this, he's getting very frustrated in a way
you haven't seen him.
He goes, well, it doesn't seem to be any obvious beads of entry here.
I don't really know how the Giants would do this.
No tricky hidden rudes as far as I could tell.
Red, I don't suppose that Zolto would be bowing.
enough to use the same
locking phrase on the front door
that he would use on his own door, but
maybe that, even if it's not the same phrase
perhaps it's the same general mechanism
a spoken incantation?
Well, if it was, it also
required the visual component
of a believable
giant. So, if it does need that, then we're screwed.
Yeah, how do we do that the first time?
Jack, but he's dead now. Oh, right.
Vaporized. Wait, Jack!
Wait, and Red reaches into the
portable hole because all of Jack's magic items are still here and do either of you remember anything
useful that he had i mean he's got that shield guardian amulet yeah that was in his other charm of restoration
infernal providence no i don't think any of this stuff is okay what's charm of restoration really wish i
jo's going through his stuff no no no just skipping over all the meld the stone knock spell
open lock nope no one of opening defeats
Zalto Rune?
No, we'll use that later.
Oh, this is a conge?
Yeah, no.
I don't think Wim has anything that she can copy.
And there's no way to look into the door.
Not right to know.
Does anybody have a way to look into the room?
A spell or Reggie or...
Reggie could get it if there was a way to squeeze through,
but I don't know if there's a gap big enough for him.
I can get into this room.
You can.
You can.
The spell that I was telling you about that would allow us to,
escape, this dimension door, I could use it to get in there.
Oh, yeah.
But there's no guarantee that I'd be able to open the door from that side if it is a magical
lock.
And there's no guarantee that I won't, because I can't see into the room, I can only
kind of generally decide there's no guarantee that I'm not going to do something like,
warp myself into a, I don't know, chair.
This is true.
Wim points at you and then around at everyone and then signs like, how many people can you take
with you?
I think it's just one other person.
Hang on, let me just check that real quick.
Correct.
That's me. That's Nick.
Hi, this is Nick.
I'm just going to...
Hi, Nick.
Hi, Nick.
Hi.
Oh, hi, Nick.
Welcome.
Unfortunately, I can only take one other person.
All right.
If I could see a slit into the room, I can jump through shadows.
So that seems to be the best bet in, but I need to get eyes in there.
Well, I wonder if there's another doorway through the other room.
And door points to the other door on the same side of the hallway.
I doubt it.
I don't think Duke Salter would let other.
normal's into his room.
True.
It's probably why he's locked that door.
I think we're at the right door.
Just a matter of how to get in.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, I'm failing any other plan.
I can take someone else with me in there.
Well, there's got...
You're telling me there's no crack.
Even at the top?
They are engineers, these fire giants.
But I'm sure we have a solution beyond dimension door.
I mean, it's a solution.
I can do it twice.
But that's the thing is if I get in there and there's no way to open the door from the inside,
then I'll have to use the second slot unless I can take a rest.
It's like that three wishes.
We're like, I really get three wishes?
I really get three wishes?
Red knows a lot about giants.
He's got a lot of giant information.
We've got like a magic, magic tech kind of expert in Witted.
And we got Doren.
Doran and Timler also here.
I mean, is there some kind of like,
intelligence check if like
I don't know if we do group if we each
contribute a skill
a meaningful skill to
determining like how this could
work will this door open with the power of friendship
will it open with the power of friendship
and hope
and asking real nice
listen Witted tried his best and he was
not able to assess
but that's not to say it's unassessable
here's a question
I'm ready that was a question
are you ready
you're going to hate this
If Red puts the portable hole on the floor directly in front of the door and then opens it, theoretically, shouldn't the other side of the hole open under the door on the other side?
Thus, making a trench that you could climb down into beneath the door and then up the other side.
Tim is making a face like a dog trying to understand English with his head tilted.
I literally can't hear shit like this without being like a judge in my head like, what would I rule here?
Like this is, I've never heard this for.
This is fascinating.
But think about it, right?
So, I mean, this presupposes that the circle opens from the center, which I think, let's be honest, we all kind of assume a portable hole goes womp from the center point.
I think you've done rolling like a Bugs Bunny acme.
But it's small and gross.
I've always heard it described as a cloth that you love.
lay out.
And then suddenly,
voom becomes a hole the moment it's fully laid out.
But until the moment all the edges are on the ground,
it just remains a cloth.
For some reason, in my mind,
it's always been small that once you put it,
it opens wider.
But that's probably actually more.
Yeah, I think it's something that you unfold.
It's like a lot of imagination in this game, eh?
It's so true.
Okay, I retract my pitch.
But that would have been good.
That would have been pretty good.
Like a ditch.
I mean, it's still, technically, Harlan, the way I'm thinking about it, this should work.
I mean, you open it up and you kind of go like this under the door.
Yeah, I just thought of that.
If you hold up one corner of it so it's not all on the ground, can you then like shimmy the rest under the door?
Well, this is why I pushed an ass multiple times.
Is there any moot?
Because she was like, no, it's like airtight.
Yeah, it's a magic door.
Listen, I don't know if it's airtight, but it's not, there isn't a gap that you can like look.
and see underneath.
Okay, but there's a gap.
It's a trick door.
Could I shimmy the hole underneath that?
So this is, so the description on D&D beyond is,
fine black cloth, soft as silk,
folded up to the dimensions of a handkerchief,
unfolds into a circular sheet six feet in diameter.
I had no idea it was that large.
Me neither, yeah.
I knew the hole was, but I always assumed it stretched.
But good to know.
Okay.
Okay.
I like the hijinks, but I don't know if this is the right hijinks.
That's fair.
I guess we can't even see if.
there's like a dead bolt in the wall, right?
Like, you can't even see that much.
Didn't you have something on your robe of...
Yeah, I used them.
Oh, that's right.
Also, if it's 60 feet diameter of the hole,
even if we were to try that,
it's sounding like unless this door's two feet wide or smaller,
which I can't assume a giant door is that.
It might cover up the whole hole.
That's a great point.
Okay, what about wedging something like the portable hole underneath the door
that then could expand to push the door up slightly?
The folding boat
Stephen 1
We didn't say that
The folding boat
I thought that's what you said to begin with
What if what have Whitted like
Levitated the actual door
Just enough so that I could see underneath it
And then zap it
I think you are vastly
underestimating the size of these doors
500 pound door
We are looking at a door
20 feet wide
20 feet tall
made of iron
Probably not easily lifted
Okay
Let's see.
How big is Reggie?
Oh, Reggie's tiny size, but that's like the size of a cat, basically.
So what's one size smaller than tiny?
Is one size smaller than tiny going to be able to get under this door?
Because we could reduce.
I forgot you had reduce and large.
Yeah.
Microscopic Reggie.
But to what end?
Will Reggie be able to let you in, you know?
True, if he gets under the door.
If microred's on Micro Reggie.
Flea size, Reggie.
Did you have anything, Doran?
You have spells and stuff.
Do you have a flame of something?
Whitton's like, why wouldn't you just let me fire bolt the door?
At this point, you can tell Wittitt is muttering, like,
I have better odds of blowing this door up than getting this open.
What's the deal here?
And he's just getting more frustrated.
Right, so what are our other options then?
We could try to use Doran's goblin form to get information on how the door opens.
we could...
Is there a way to convince one of these other giants
to help us somehow?
Is there another way for us to do this
other than just trying to brute force it ourselves?
Do we wait for him to come?
Open the door and are running with him?
Like if we open up that door?
And Doran points behind us across the hall
and waited.
I wonder if that door's open.
Well, there's somebody in there, isn't there?
What if we're like, you know,
they open the door and you run in like the fucking cat gets out,
you know?
The cat.
Don't let out the cap.
No, fuck.
Joe, is there any chance
when it could make an Arcana check
to learn, like, more about this door
just because I have a plus four
to identify magic and technology-based kind of items?
Please.
When Midd moves towards the door
and it looks like he's maybe focusing a little,
Tamil will kind of walk up behind him
and will just very gently
tap out a short rhythm on Bessie.
And I'm going to cast enhanceability
and give you Fox's
cunning, which will give you advantage on any
intelligence checks, including
Arcana. Fabulous. Interesting.
Thank you very much.
I will roll a second time.
Though I, so
I didn't roll higher on the second roll,
but I did roll a total
of a 31 on Arcana,
which I'm imagining.
Granted, I'm kind of
imagining that's less to like, no,
like, oh, I figured out where
the lock is and more like,
how does a door like this work?
what kind of magic is running on it more.
So I don't know how helpful it'll be,
but I'm trying to figure out everything I know about this door right now.
And since you gave me Fox's cunning,
I wonder if I'll get a second investigation check at all,
but I'm curious more with this.
What do you mean my cunning?
Conclusively, Witted,
you are able to determine that this is no magic lock.
The door is not magic.
This is a mundane mechanism that is keeping the door closed.
That's unexpected.
Okay.
Hey.
But there's no keyhole.
There's no keyhole.
This is why I can't figure it out.
It's some sort of concealed mechanism.
It's not so much any hidden rudes or anything.
Doran's sort of sitting there, maybe leaning on his axe.
He's scratching his chin and mumbling to himself.
We've clamored to the peaks of mountains.
Nearly drown in the deepest seas.
We've survived barren landscapes.
Voided to be eaten by thickest jungles.
But you put a big fucking door in front of us.
You can't seem to get pot.
And he's sort of like inspecting this door.
Yeah.
Is can I roll some sort of mechanic based on my knowledge of blacksmithing and maybe some
technical knowledge if there's like a way to unlatch this lock?
Like are there gears or anything?
No.
But if you would like to try to just figure it out with the brute force of your brains, you can
roll an investigation check.
Investigation gives me no plus
But I'll try it
Witted like was taking a break
Very much appreciated the enhancement
Fox cunning from Tamil
And was kind of like venting a little bit
Like I just can't keep to crack this open
And as Doran was talking
It was very much like Pippin
With Gandalf at the door where it's like
Wow it seems like you can't figure this out Gandalf
And he's like okay yeah
It's turning out to be very difficult
and as you are going to inspect the door
if Doran is...
What'd you roll?
What'd you roll?
A 20.
I can't believe it.
This is Widd's nightmare, by the way.
This is where his ego is at its worst.
Doran.
Hold on a second.
There's like a little switch just on the bottom there.
On the bottom of the door handle
that you just need to like, it's like a put your thumb on the switch
and then you turn and you got it.
It's like a little...
Wait a minute.
Yep.
Let me,
wait,
and let me climb back up on you.
I'm telling you,
there's,
there's no sign,
and he's picking you up,
he's lifting you up,
and as he's saying,
I'm telling,
this is a highly complicated,
incredibly sophisticated mechanism,
I'm telling you,
it must be.
Quick.
Oh,
looks like that's it.
The door handle begins to turn.
All right,
now let's pull.
Dorn's pulling with all his might,
like, kind of.
A quick strength check for me there, bud?
Loveraging against.
It's 15.
Yeah.
With your combined efforts, Witted and Doran,
you managed to unlock and open this door.
Oh, Red's just like, all right.
I listed to Meal like, huh.
Witted's face is very much like,
I feel like I've only seen this in Adventure Time
where someone's face just becomes this like,
like a completely different version of their own face.
But like, because it's this level of grumpy.
us that he can't even like that's really and he's just not saying a word he's just sulking right now
to me we'll go over to wait what did that was so very generous of you to let doran solve that little
puzzle yeah we know you had it buddy don't worry are we leaving the dust pan out in the hallway
or are we bringing that with us hell no it's with us bring it in yeah it's part of the family now
Yeah, I've carved my initials into it.
It's the official red rober's mascot, the dust player.
This is our escape plan.
We're going to ride this down the mountain.
Fabulous.
I feel like Doran's coming into the room here, and he's just sort of like really living this up.
He's like, well, you know, all I needed to do was really take a moment there to look at it.
And I knew that if I looked at it long enough, it would come to me.
I just knew it would, you know.
And sometimes you just know.
these things, Witted.
Right?
Sometimes you just know these things.
You just do.
You just do.
Don, lay off.
Wittitt is steaming.
Like, Bessie's just like blowing red.
It's like a god metal.
I'm just venting.
I just need to do this once an hour.
Instead.
His hands over the like eject button.
All right, let's go.
And yeah, we quickly move inside and shut the door.
Fabulous.
You find yourselves in a very large,
and well-appointed bed chamber.
Again, like everything in Iron Slig or most things, this is giant-sized, so the fireplace is
large enough to walk into all four abreast.
The bed is tall enough to walk underneath comfortably without stooping, for example.
We see a huge bed, four-post, large enough for two giants to sleep in comfortably, hanging
above the bed are large chains and manacles. Behind the headboard, a big shield is hanging on the
wall, about 15 feet in diameter made of some kind of black, scaly material. Additionally, there is a
huge iron chandelier that hangs from the ceiling over the center of the room near the foot of the
bed. There is a big table that you can't really see up on top of, probably a wardrobe of some
kind, again, like tree-sized furniture. And there is a huge, giant-sized full-length mirror,
as well as an iron chest just underneath the table. Oh, iron chest. All right. Um,
Red is going to cast Detect Magic.
Red, your detect magic spell does not show any new magical items apart from those which your party are carrying.
As we step into the room, I think Doran kind of says to the others,
we should probably spread out, maybe explore the room a bit.
Look for some places to hide.
I assume we'll want to hide so that he doesn't see us when he comes into the room.
Let's first establish that this is, in fact, Duke's Altos' room.
Secondly, let's be extra careful here.
If this is Duke's Altos' room, and it's not locked,
I guarantee he prevents people from poking around in his shit.
So, take it very slow.
Everyone keep their eyes peeled, for all we know, we're being monitored right now.
Good point.
And I'll just do a perception, because I don't think we did a perception role yet.
Right?
Fabulous.
Rather.
What did you get?
Let's all look around, that says.
All right.
As he rolls a 10.
So bright in here.
Oh, can we all do a perception?
Sure, yeah.
As red, I would recommend we do.
Yeah.
I got a 14.
Whim also rolled a 14.
Women and I are looking exactly at the same thing.
Just a spot on the floor.
The manacles.
What is that?
Mm-hmm.
That's a 14 for Doran.
Oh, no way.
Three 14s?
Triplets.
Get over here, 14, buddy.
We did it has advantage on this actually because of his helmet of awareness.
Hell yeah.
And that didn't really help him, unfortunately.
Seven, bobbing seven.
Oh, no. It's half of 14.
That sucks.
We suck.
We're going to die in here.
Anyone with two eyeballs can see that, I mean, why am I being eyeball this here?
I was just saying, why limit that?
Even with one or more.
Poor one eyeball Joe over there.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
I don't get to see as much.
It's plain to see that this room is extravagant by fire giant standards.
The coverings on the bed are quilted finely.
There are carvings on the frame of the mirror that are quite beautiful.
This is a fancy boy's chamber for a fancy boy.
Fancy boy, the fanciest.
Stop making him so likable.
What's that called?
What's it called when you get like the monogram?
Monogram?
Monogram.
It's like the bed has been monogram DZ.
We can't figure out who's room this is.
Duke is part of his name.
Yeah, because Duke isn't his, it's not his title.
It's his first name.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Fuck me.
Yeah, yeah.
No, it's his title too.
His name is Duke, Duke, Duke Zaltow.
You can call me double D.
Dominative determinism, yeah.
Okay.
Dimele's going to check the war.
wardrobe doors for traps and then move to start searching in the wardrobe under the impression
that Tamil's been on a few adventures okay she's been in places where people are trying to like
keep special stuff and they don't put it in the fancy chess they don't put it in the safe they
put it in the false bottom behind the ratty old coat in the wardrobe so yeah yeah good that's her
first red's been on more adventures and he goes straight for the chest there you go um Tamil you
make your way over to the wardrobe and with a little bit of clever acrobatics to get up to
the handles to pull these doors open, you find some lovely belongings. The belongings of a couple,
you presume, a pair of giants live here. You find a giant-sized cloak that is red and scaly.
You find a necklace of engraved gold plates draped over this dress cloak.
There is a gown that is very heavy looking and seems to be made of gold, gold ingots, giant size, and gold rings as well.
So there are also some other, like, more standard giant clothing items.
but these dress clothes are obviously the most beautiful.
Am I aware of Zalto having a mate, a partner?
He didn't talk to you about one.
Just when we were shooting this shit one day.
So, you seen anybody, Zaltow?
Yeah.
I'm going to talk to my spouse.
There seems like two sets of clothing here, not just, unless, I mean, listen, I'm not going to judge, Zolto.
I was going to say, what have two options here?
Yeah.
Hey, many different options.
Come on.
That's fair enough, fair enough.
Not binary here.
Is the gold dress conceivably like a wedding thing?
This seems distracting.
Anyway, yeah.
Is it gold or is it blue?
Good reference.
I would look for false bottoms or false sides and things, and if there's nothing, then I would say.
Yeah, you can roll an investigation check to look for some extra compartments.
Ooh, not 20, 21.
Oh, sweet.
Loot, loot, loot.
I was like, what's this symbol on the dice?
This doesn't look like a number.
Money, please.
I've never seen this before.
Yeah, yeah.
There's a hook on the back of this wardrobe door on which an apron is hanging.
And inside of the pocket of the apron, you find a large gold key.
Does not seem terribly fancy looking?
Yeah.
It's like big enough for you to hold in both your hands.
Oh, shit.
Yeah, Tamil will carry that out of the wardrobe.
We'll kind of show everyone.
Red, I think this might need to go into the hole.
I don't know that I'll be able to carry it surreptitiously.
Well, it might go into that.
And Red points at the chest in the corner.
Here, hand it here.
And Red sort of looks past Tamil at what Tamil's just revealed the dress and stuff.
And he sort of stops and he says,
I didn't take Duke Salto as a married person or a person with a partner.
Obviously, I don't know much about him.
Yeah.
But it's interesting because we've taken down two giants so far, and neither of them had a spouse, and he sort of stops.
Can I do a retroactive role, insight maybe?
Perhaps.
I have a wild thought.
The tantrum-throwing giant, did it sound younger?
No.
Yeah, kind of did.
I think the one that threw a tantrum might have been a child.
Now that Red says that, Doran, you realize that the giant that you saw was smaller.
That was the young fiery one I saw. Well, the fiery, fiery one.
Interesting. You know, we've taken out a lot of these. This would be the first parent.
Oh, I don't know how I feel about that yet.
Being a dad myself, not right now.
Anyway, and he picks up the key and he walks over to the chest.
This chest is enormous.
I feel like you guys are tired of me saying that, but it bears repeating.
Whoa, wait.
It's nine feet long and six feet high.
You could live in there.
You could.
What is this, a chest for giants?
It needs to be at least three times smaller than this.
Do we make us our new base?
There is a very strange mechanism on the front of this.
my god with these mechanisms there are three tumblers with numbers on them oh my god it's an escape
room guys quick look around look at the room hold on i'm going to start turning over the table
to beel takes the key and starts bashing the dials ah alex gets drunk and smash this i mean doren
oh no there does not seem to be a keyhole right well fuck this is there anything on the key is there a number
written on the key yeah it says fuck you
It's not a number.
All right, Red puts the key in the portable hole.
Obviously, the number of steps between the door and the bed must matter here.
I'm sorry, I can't calculate everything.
That's right.
That's right.
How many candles are there on the chandelier?
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
Red puts the portable hole out, puts the key in it, and he leaves it out in case anybody wants to put those heavy gold gowns and necklaces into the hole too.
Might as well loot this place.
We're going to kill him anyway.
And he looks at them, and he's just going to take a good look at the,
case maybe with Tamil using both their skills or whatever obviously number one traps and number two red would
love to sort of take a look at the dial i mean look if you're pushing in the same numbers every time
your thumbprints are going to be probably more likely worn there's three numbers that are distinctly
worn off to be clear it's like a combination lock where there are three um circular dials of numbers yeah
But if I turn through all of them, right,
a lot of them are going to be smudged,
but only one of them is going to be printed, right?
Because when you're turning a tumbler,
you're not,
you're pushing your thumb over them.
And when you stop on the number you want,
your finger leaves a print.
He's reaching.
Because it's so easy to see which ones you print.
I feel like he's reaching,
but I don't know if that's just me.
I've never seen a lock like that.
Your print would be more common.
Whose fucking Snyder you want?
I'm just,
say it doesn't make sense to me why would it make sense to the audience i almost got it's a good
try um anyway i'm still going to roll for it because it's d and d and so are what are you rolling for
are you investigating this lock i was hoping that tamil and i could double team this whoever has
higher maybe do traps whoever can't maybe do to see if there's a way to distinguish which of the tumblers
are the key timil come help me with this you're better at finding the trap see if you can figure out the
I'm going to check these tumblers, see if I can detect anything.
Right, right, all right.
I mean, you guys can absolutely investigate this lock mechanism together, for sure.
14.
Do it.
19 for traps.
Nice.
Arguably traps are more important anyways.
I'm glad that was the higher.
You are not able to assess what the combination is just by investigating this lock.
But, Tameel, you do feel as you rotate through these.
numbers, that there is some kind of secondary mechanism being employed here.
Not just the opening of the chest.
So the possibility that this is a trapped chest is quite high in your estimation.
Jamil reaches out and kind of puts a hand on Red's paw.
There's something else at work here.
I think that we should maybe pause for a moment.
There's some other, some other machination at work behind this lock.
Pass, got it, good.
All right, well, I'm going to poke around for the three-digit code.
In the meantime, everyone makes sure you have a spot to run to if that door opens.
We do want to make sure his door and said that we do have the advantage, but I'm going to poke around.
Wim is up on this bed.
She's scrambled her way up onto the bed spread, and she's, like, investigating the shield that's hanging behind the headboard.
she's crawled up on the top of the headboard
and she's like messing with it
with her like scratching a thumbnail on it
and trying to like see if it's pliable at all
and she turns around as you say that red
she points at the shield
and she signs dragon skin.
Wow. It's not magic though.
She shakes her head.
But it would be fire resistant, wouldn't it?
Or very protective against fire?
Probably.
Whididid would be hearing, assuming I hear
kind of what Temeel had said
about there being potentially a trap still on this chest,
very much wanting to redeem himself,
but also thankful for the advantage that I think is still running.
I didn't catch you casting any other concentration spells,
and it should have been in an hour,
so I think I still have Fox's cunning.
I'm definitely going to try an investigation check on that chest.
Sweet.
Oh, wow.
A 22 this time.
It's not much better, but more like it.
You think you could probably pick this lock
if you were given some tools
and I don't know how well-versed you are in the art of lock-picking,
but this could be something that you would open.
Okay.
Also, do I know anything of a trap in on it or nothing more about that?
You feel the same thing that Temeel felt.
Yeah, this could be trapped.
I say, okay, I think I could pick this lock
or at least disable the locking mechanism enough to open this.
But to be fair, I'm not clear on whether or not that would automatically trigger the trap
if I were to do so.
so looking around for a three-digit code.
Again, like, I just feel like the number of candles,
so they start floating up towards the chandelier.
As you gain some altitude in this room,
Witted, you are afforded a view of the tabletop
under which this chest is stowed.
So everyone's, like, standing underneath this table.
You see that there are some interesting items on top here,
a jeweled obsidian hairbrush,
A tinder box, a hand mirror, a jewelry chest, sort of like a dressing table, a Coutrema.
Joe, how big is the hand mirror?
It's big.
Is it giant size?
Yeah, it's pretty big.
If you don't tell us, how do we know?
It's like as big as a dinner table or like a surfboard.
Oh, shit.
You know.
Yeah.
Biggin.
It's pretty big.
With the added knowledge that we're now looking for a three-digit combination,
Red would like to do another perception roll.
I feel like now he's looking for something specific.
And we all rolled so low, I feel like Red would even be like,
look, now we're looking for three digits.
Take a look around again.
If anybody can see anything, that's what we need.
I feel like that's justified because I'm looking for something else now.
Yeah, you can roll another perception.
We got 14 the highest last time, so I think we should all take another shot.
Because I'm sure there's something in this room.
I got worse.
No, oh, no, I didn't.
Nine plus seven, 16.
Wim rolled a 21.
Ooh, Wim.
Good job, Wimmy.
Ooh, 25?
Yes.
Dora, you guys see anything?
I think in classic, Alex, I'm not playing with the escape room riddles.
And in fact, Doren is, uh, Dorn stepped into the room and sort of.
Was he not in the room this whole time?
No, no, as, while the others investigate around,
Doran sort of ponderes and thinks about the pacing of when Zalta enters the room
and brings his eyes back to the door that they just entered through.
And looking at this door, is there a way to lock it once it's closed, like from the inside?
Like, is there a deadbolt or something?
Yeah.
Along those lines?
No.
One of those giant chains, you know?
Part of Zaltos' kink is getting walked in on.
So there's no inside lock.
Leave it open, honey.
I mean, apart from like the door handle lock that you guys figured out.
I don't even know what kind of lock that is.
It's a lock on the outside of the door.
It's like a, it's a kitty lock.
Well, Harlan said is true.
We can probably get the guards to mutiny against Zalta.
Yeah.
Are you going to roll perception, Alex?
Preoccupied with your win from earlier.
He's just like, man, I opened that so good.
Oh, that's so funny.
Witted, with your 25 perception,
you notice just a couple of extra details in this room.
First, you notice that the iron chandelier
that is attached to the ceiling...
Has three big digits.
Tethered by a large chain,
which extends from ceiling to wall
and then goes down to a hook by the door.
Oh, well, well, well.
Second of all, based on the structure of the fireplace
and the way that the layout of Iron Slag is starting to come together in your mind,
you can kind of start to put together the overall layout of the fireplaces in Iron Slag.
You sort of have figured like, oh, this is like fed by,
natural gas there's probably like this many outlets like because the hearth is currently lit you can
like smell that there's gas being fed in what you're gathering is that um all of these rooms are
interconnected through like a common natural gas vent system this is very exciting news to
Whitted. When this connection happens, Witted starts to see the opportunity here and goes, oh, oh, everyone, and this is a very like, explains it the technical way first. Everyone, the gas, the natural gas. It's fed by natural gas. Do you understand what this means?
I mean, I do, but Doren doesn't. Can you explain it for him? All of these, and he glides down, boom, helmet comes up. He's so excited. All of these fireplaces.
is they're interconnected.
I don't know how large the openings might be,
but if there was a hearth in the celebration hall,
it's entirely possible we might be able to sneak up on Zaltu
or get from room to room using these fireplaces of transportation possibly.
If we're fire resistant, I don't know if we'll be completely safe,
but we can at least try to use these as a means of transportation.
Wow.
We could escape as well if we needed to.
Slide down to freedom.
All right, good job Witted.
Right, right, heat resistance.
We could just go right in the fire.
I don't know about right in the fire, but...
Witted, maybe as you approach this hearth to give it a bit of a closer look,
you can actually hear something from deep within this flame,
probably coming from some adjacent room.
you hear the tinny distant sound of somebody crying.
