Woo-hoo! Meanwhile, Doran and Widdett have had some time to do a little bit of exploration on their own. As Wittitt is kind of letting Doren take the lead as the fighter leading the way down each hallway, kind of plodding along like a giant right behind him, you can see that Wittid's almost starting to slow down a little bit. He's gone back to just walking to conserve the boots of flying levitation, and he's just looking around in wonder, and he stopped. stores Doran and he goes it's just a lot larger that I thought it was going to be it's pretty pretty

incredible I do have to say and yeah Dorian sort of stops with you and takes the moment to like really take it in and we're just sort of staying there looking around I don't know if it's the spatial distortion exactly it's just so complex it's like fighter than any watch I've ever seen it's it's like I don't know how you know Dorrit I really I just thought it was so stupid of me. I could control it alone. Just look at the orb out there. There's multiple orbs.

I don't know that one operator can... And Duke Zalto somehow has control. Doran sort of puts his hand on your shoulder. He says, look, you can't figure this all out in the half a day that we've been here. take a deep breath. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed. There's a lot we're taking in here. But that's what I do. I figure it out. That's what I have to do. That's my one job is to figure out the voted dot. If I can't do it,

Witton just bursts out in almost like hysterical laughter and for a moment lifts up his goggles and just takes a sleeve that he's let hang over his hand and sort of just dries his nose and his eyes a little bit. You realize he'd been having a real emotional reaction. a little bit of a breakdown. Not just to the breakdown,

but also you think based on what you said because he chuckles and he laughs, damn it to her and that was all exactly right. I mean, it's going to make a lot more sense once we're up there. And we're going to figure this out. We are. We are. Once we get to the controls

and once we can actually move and manipulate this thing, I mean, hell, we can use it to our advantage. could protect those that we love, the pure and righteous of Fyruin, right? they said if if they took the voted Dodd they could help me keep it safe I'm sure I'm sure that the dwarves would keep this safe and I'm sure that if you or disintegral and in getting it free from the giants that, yes,

they would probably give you free reign to experiment with it and, you know, do all sorts of research on it. I mean, just think of what we could learn from this. Exactly. All I want to do is learn about it. And the dwarves, well, you're the ones who taught me how to protect the things I care about. Of course. And so...

Of course. I think maybe... We'll keep it safe. Maybe Chaos Haber's right. We can keep it safe from anyone who wants to destroy it. Yeah. Yeah. And that way we can keep it forever and not worry about it being destroyed again.

He runs his fingers along the wall and nods. Yeah. As we're saying this, we move from one end to this hallway to the other almost. Those double hallways were... the perfect plot. You know, I think our only real hurdle will probably be

convincing Red and maybe to me all that that we should keep it and that we should let the dwarves keep it safe. Meanwhile, our only real hurdle will be convincing Witted and Doren that the dwarves cannot keep it safe. Anyway, oh, there they are. Hey, guys.

So in this, like, small chamber, the tall black pillar has got like they're triangular or maybe pyramid shaped clear chambers that are protruding from the sides of this pillar and there are four of them and they're maybe I don't know chest height let's say to a medium-sized humanoid but they're just kind of like clear maybe crystal you're not sure what they're made of exactly but just clear like crystal pyramid shape it To me a little kind of reach out so stupidly.

And then just try to kind of lightly shift to one of them to see if it's a removable thing or if it's like a casing on, you know, like the, if it's if it's just built into it. Put your pickaxe from your dungeoneer's pack and just get it. Ding, ding, ding, ding. Just break it as hard as you can. No, it doesn't seem to shift or move at all. It feels cool underneath your fingers. It's quite cool. It's quite cool to the touch.

Gosh, I have no head for mechanical things. Do you either have any idea what this is? No. Whim shakes her head. I can't get over how alien this whole thing feels. And really, it's not alien, but just ancient. And it's just wild. But, well, I don't know.

Maybe the two of us can put our heads together, and Red Will Stand next to Temeel, and maybe I can aid you in a role. Oh, yeah. Can I do like in history, maybe? Insight or, I guess, insights for people, investigation or something. something? Can I intimidate the pillar to give my secrets? Part shit.

Well, it's hard when you're both exploring the same thing, but I think if we want to open the floor, just kind of anybody who wants to sort of take the next action or do the next exploration thing, it shouldn't be just up to Red and Tamil necessarily because we're all looking at the same thing right now. The camera zooms in on Tamil's hand and zooms out on Doran's hand. Oh, it's cool to the touch. That's funny. Doran just said it's cool over there as well.

And then Doran's looking at these hot tanks and looking at this cool to the touch thing. I bet you this is part of the cooling system. This is the coolant. I'm pointing at the crystal thing. I mean, I rolled a 20 earlier. Do you want me to re-roll? Am I right there?

Am I off base? You can roll a new investment. investigation check for this pillar, if you like. I just feel obliged in all this to mention. I do have a plus nine in Arcana, and I really haven't been applying the plus four that I get to identify magic and technology to that Arcana check. Could I just make an arcana check? See if I get figured. Whitted would be.

What's this? Yeah, yeah. Meanwhile, Witted with the manual. It's something to hang your coat on. Yeah. With the 29, I'm taking a step. about it. Witted immediately knows that Doren's hypothesis is incorrect that this has nothing to do with the cooling tanks whatsoever and that it is part of some kind of arcane controlling device,

almost like the controlling orbs from downstairs, but maybe a different system. Oh, it's just an ice cube distunk. I break this in a very nice way where I go, oh, I think you might be odd to something there, Dorid. It's possible that what you're looking at is more the control system. Keep in mind, the controls would need to be cooled in some way in order to prevent one from getting burned by the ambient heat in the area. But be careful. We don't want to cause the heat suddenly to go off the scale. Those control something. Dory kind of looks at the side of his eyes. He says, And I thought you said you didn't know anything about this thing. Look at you. I think you're

on to something there. when it does smile pleased. I feel like my best Arcana check I've gotten in the bone and dod by you. Yeah. Very good. Rural and randomly rolled dice and then was really excited.

I rolled an 18 of Arcana just so that we could learn the same information at the same time. It doesn't have to cut to us, but I'm hoping. I mean, Red, you recognize that this is a device that is probably important,

more important than the tanks in this room. I don't even know it's a controlling thing? No. Whoa. Yeah. Tamil, we are fucked here.

We should go, we should go give the others. We got no idea what's going on. All right. I was about to lick it. You know what? Hang on a second. And then she'll,

Tamil will message widded and she'll say, do you have a, a pillar with kind of crystal triangles? I mean, you guys are within eyesight of each other. Yeah, but this is fancier. This is like,

with each other, kind of like it gets one hand up and he goes, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't, necessarily poke it too much. It's a control paddle of some kind and I don't know what it controls exactly.

And he gestures looking around at the vats, like he's not sure if they are related or are not, but it controls something that could be dangerous. Right, I won't lick it then. No, certainly, oh. Let's check in. Would it say lick it or don't, He said don't lick it. He said don't lick it.

Okay. Redley pulls his tongue. Are they saying to lick it? Is red licking it? No, no. Should I lick it? No, red, no. I'm on the phone right now.

Doren, don't lick it. Wittitton, are we licking it now? No, that's... I'm talking to Temeel. She's not looking it either. Say hi for me. All right, Witted, I'm... If you're all worried that, I would like to check in with you as we move through these rooms just to make sure that we are kind of sharing the information just in case there's something that one of us

misses. We'll do over it out. So that way, like, we can kind of do what you think, what you're talking about. Yeah. And then we'll have the in-game or the in-world explanation of like we're just talking. Sure. Well, let's keep moving. Maybe there's some more naturey wisdom stuff that you and I can excel at, you know,

some, maybe we need to get insight from the next room. Lots of plants and riddles in the next rooms. I can feel it. Let's go. See? And then we can do bits, Harlan. I also like the implication that with the message spells, while we're having our separate conversations going down these halls, we're checking in with each other.

And then once we've magically hung up, we go back to like talking about those other like conversations. Like that's an interesting juxtaposition. Yeah, let's do it. Juicy. What are, just so I know, because I forget, but like what are Timil's standout stats? Inside is her highest. Athletics is very high performance. High persuasion.

Performance makes sense. Performance, yeah. Yeah, mine's only plus three, so that's perfect. Okay. Tamil tap dances her way into the next room. I was more envisioning like you Indiana Jones, like roll under a closing door. That's good. That's good.

Like I was going to be like, go, Tamil, you, so much more athletic than me. Tap dancing or rolling under doors, whatever, yeah, either one. We'll see it happens. We'll see how it plays out. Go ahead. Tap dance under a. You tap dance your way forward and uncover, I'll just say, the rest of these hallways. Cool.

Set into a recess in the wall of the hallway ahead of you, you come to a cut gem or prism of some kind. It's contained by metal claws, kind of like a setting on a giant diamond ring. The one in front of red is blue. The one in front of Tamil is red. And underneath these gems, there are switches that protrude horizontally and would typically be pulled up or down. And both of these switches are in the down position right now. I'm in front of this blue gem, Tamil. What about you? Red gem with a switch seems to be in the down position.

Yeah, that's what I said, gem with a switch. Mine's blue. What about yours? It's a... What? Vermillion You have a million gems in there? It is a crimson gem It is a crimson-colored gem Oh, oh, oh, wait

I just, I don't know if you know this about me But I really like red All you, buddy. To the north, it seems like Doran and Witted have found similar gems, yellow and a green gem. Hey, Witted, I found a big yellow gem over here. It's beautiful. Yeah, I got a green wood here. Oh, green.

What does this do? He's leading towards the switch. As the message comes through your mind, Widididid, we've got two large gems in the wall here, one red, one blue. What? Um, not. No, I'm talking to Widdid. We've got four Jebz-it-all. Oh, yeah, okay. Only one over here.

I'm counting them all. You hear me say that out loud to do it. Do they have a million? Are yours the same color as ours? Red and blue? Green and amber. Oh, well, we have switches on ours. They're both, it seems in one position, the lower position.

Uh, Wididdy is probably going to flip that handle, but I'll make an arcana check. at the very least. I love that. I've got a handle here too. It's down. Do you have a handle? I've got a handle too. I think all of us have handles,

would be my guess. Oh, what are they saying to me? What do you think? Should we flip it up? We're talking about the handles. Should I hold? Flip it? Let's see.

Twenty-five, does Witted know what these switches will do? Ooh, nice. With a 25, you know that these mechanisms are related to the pillars, but you don't know how or why. Oh, the pills with the crystals, the control panel thingies. Yes. Maybe they make the Von and Dodd poop and pee and fart and something else from your penis. Vital functions, yes, for a big robot.

Well, think about it. We're in the crotch, right? Like, what do you got four of in your crotch? What's Red saying over there? Normal things. Normal. conversation that you would have in a situation like this. And if the Von and Dodd's got four balls, then clearly we got to drain these suckers. Yes.

We did, like, we're cutting back in four between Widdid just rattling off esoteric, magical, like, numbers and formulas. Like, we gotta drain the balls. Should we flip these or should we leave them or no? Hey, if we do it, we should do it all at the same time. Countessand waited? I can't wait any longer. I'm just going to flip it.

Doran, you flip the lever in front of it. You catch the handle of the lever in your hand, and pushing up, you hear a buzzing sound, and the prism in front of you glows bright yellow. You are bathed in this color. Everything around you is a brilliant gem shade of topaz. There is a twin crackle of noise ahead of you. ahead of you.

And that's what happens. I mean, Witted, you will have seen this spotlight of colored light beaming down on Doren. Witted was flipping this, like, as soon as he saw light coming from Doren, so definitely flipping it. All right. Yeah. Moments after Doren flips his lever, you do the same Witted, and you are bathed in green light.

Similarly, you hear like a buzz and then a twin buzz happening over to the side, back to the room where you came from with all those tanks and the pillar and shit. What do we do it, Tamil? Over message. All right, so just count us in, all right? When you want us to flip this switch, just count us in. We're ready to go, ready to know. Just flip a whatever.

It's great. Nothing happened. Women's been like standing over in the other room. She starts signing frantically like the light turned on on the other side. She can sort of see kitty corner. Right. Red, I think we just flipped him now. And then Timiel will throw her switch.

Red uncharacteristically just stares at his. Like, everything in my being makes me want to throw this switch. Like, everything. All right. Doran, your gem fades and the lever switches back to the down position. Oh. And like seconds later, so does yours. witted.

As red just kind of like chills and doesn't flip his. It went off. And then you hear like maybe this like long echo of Doren like way off in the background scream. It went off. Oh no. It blew up and killed Doren. Is there any other noticeable change in like the sounds other, other than like the buzzing kind of quieting down? Like in the ride of the Vonundado or.

Or like the movement. Okay. Yeah, yeah. You hear a new sound coming from the main chamber. Oh. Oh, no. It's bad guys. That's the name of the episode.

Oh, no. Oh, no. Bad guys. Not famous. They're old enemies bad guys. They noticed that we were fucking around. And then they're like, oh, we better go check that out. Stop touching those switches.

It just died down Yeah Tamils flips off And red you flip your switch And red has flipped his switch I did it The red color bathes you

vermilion, crimson, scarlet. I love this. Can I scoge by red? Oh, excuse me, pardon me, oh, excuse me, pardon me. Go into that room with the red light and then is everything kind of the same as it was in the other one? Totally, totally. Totally.

Yeah, so this large circular mechanism at the end of the catwalk is like descending from the ceiling and it's got creatures on it. There are two fire giants that are like finishing, buckling on their final parts of their armor and looking around frantically. And there's a handful of flying little monsters that are like zooming down like angry wasps out of their nest like in different directions. And they catch sight of you. Everybody roll for initiative. Gosh. I should have snugg around that. And yeah, they see a red light flashing from off in one side of the room.

that they immediately moved towards. Wim rolled an 18 for her initiative. Tim, what did you get? I got a 15. Thanks to alarms in the suit going on. Harlan, when did you get for red? 21. Nice.

Nick, what did you get for Timiel? A dirty 20. A filthy, grease-covered 20. Nasty. And Alex? A whopping four. Oh, no. No.

None. None. That's a critical role with my plus three. Okay. That's what's up. Top of the round, red. All you heard was Timil say, oh, no. I'm just flipping the switch.

And I step back. What? What? Like at the side of her mouth, whistler. What? Giants. Two fly giants and some little things flying down. What?

What? I can't hear you. You're speaking. on the side of your mouth. In this main room. What are you talking about? Flying, flyens. What's a client?

You come over here? Speak louder. Geez. You go over to try to. Yeah, Red like thomp's over like a teen. What are you talking? Ah! And then like he peeks around.

The minute he steps around the corner, he sees them. Oh! Giants! I understand. Yes. Sorry, Red. It wasn't that I was ignoring you. It was just that I was.

I was trying to not give away a position. I'm sorry, I would have spoken up louder that that was... No, it's okay. The comedic timing was fun. Yeah, these little things, there's like a handful of flying little guys. They're like grayish, white, and small. They have like a screechy sort of voice that you can hear them screeching around. They're flying, as I said.

And they look kind of cruel. Yeah, they look like kind of gobliny. Would I be able to just maybe roll in nature on them or something first? I would love for you to do that. Just to see if I know what they are. Please do. I'm hoping they're methods because I love a method. 14.

Yeah, these are small elemental creatures. If you know about D&D and you want to be a fucking cheater, you know that they're probably methods. Yep. I didn't mean to be a cheater. I love methods. I love the misfits. They are a little like mean-spirited little monster boys. gender neutral.

So with my 14, I know that that? With your 14, you know that they are elemental creatures. They are evil aligned. You remember something that maybe you heard in a story once about the explosion of a creature like this. And it sort of jogs your memory because the Beatles that you guys just interacted with in the leg of the vulnerable. and Dodd had a similar thing where they, like, exploded when they died. Okay. So I think these things explode when they died.

Yeah. I mean, something that was like them you heard of once, and it did that. So you're like, oh, this could do that too. Okay. And these fire giants are descending on a platform? Yes. How far up are they? They're about 10 feet up right now, and they are getting ready to jump down.

Is the platform descending or they're jumping off the platform? No, the platform is coming down from the ceiling, and it's like almost. settled back down. Perfect. That's what's up. Red looks at you and says, oh boy, this is going to get messy. Yes.

Oh, well. And Red casts Sleet Storm. Oh, there. Make them fall down. Yeah, it is a 20-foot tall cylinder with a 40-foot radius.

Freezing rain and sleet will fall within that area, centered on the center. of that point. It is heavily obscured and exposed flames are doused, which I'm hoping in some way maybe affects the fire giants. Maybe not, you know,

maybe not damage or anything, but maybe confuses them in some way. The area is covered in slick ice, making it difficult to rain. And when they enter the spells area for the first time or on a turn, or start their turn there, I should say, they must make a dexterity saving throw and if they fail prone.

So they'll be starting their turns in there. They will both have to make dexterity throws and if they fail, they'll do prone. Love me. Nice. Wow. Well done. That's quite the area.

I thought it would be a good time to use it. It is a great time. It's a great time to use it. Especially because I have the drop on them. I'm just mad. But that's, I hate these like battlefield control area of effect spells, mainly because it's just like extra things for me to think about during a combat. But it's a great spell to use.

And in this situation, especially so. So great job. Because the area is heavily obscured, you can no longer see these monsters. Okay. That's the first thing that happens. But that means they can no longer see us too. Yep. They are totally blind.

That's what I'm kidding. I can hear a storm going in the other room. Something's happening. Sounds sleety. Sounds like a winter blizzard. Is that your turn, Harlan? That is my action. I'm going to cast as a bonus action.

My bow has a bonus action of fairy fire. I was going to cast fairy fire. And then Red will turn. turn to Temeel and say, let's pull back, message the others to get to where we met in the center when we split the first time, and let's try to get them down that path. They're too big to walk down these little halls anyway. We can funnel them and take them out. And then Red will move 10 more feet or something. Fabulous. Tamil, it is your turn. There's a cylinder of sleep in front of you. Yes, she'll follow the instruction given to her by Red. She will use her action to message

widded. She'll say there are fire giants in that main area now and some strange little creatures too. They do not look friendly. We're meeting back at the start of this chamber. They can't come down these hallways so we'll just try to funnel them on the catwalk.

Roger, Roger. And then she will begin chasing after red. On the catwalk. On the catwalk. Oh, I get my little friends on the catwalk. Yeah, one of these Giants names is Fred and the other one is Wright said.

Amazing. And they are models. You know what I mean. They do. They're little shit on the catwalk. They throw boulders. Yes. That's their only thing that they do.

They throw boulders. And great. It's Wim's turn. Go on Wim. Wim. Wim signs to you read, How many? Two giants, four methods.

We're pulling back to the position that we split from, find cover, eyes down the hall. Wim casts Melf's minute meteors on herself. She like pounds her fist into her open palm and like meteors explode into the air around her and just start orbiting her head ready to find a target whenever there is one presented. Adorable.

And she's going to move. into the main area and just peers into the sleet storm waiting for a target to make its appearance. Next in the order, Witted, you're up. We did first gestures to Dora. Dorid, we're falling back and starts jogging and then gliding into the air for a double move that is going to take him 25 feet to here. Reggie's also going to come running after him. Fabulous.

What is your spell save DC? I rolled a 15 and a 16 for our giants to stay on their feet. 17. Yes! Let's go. Yeah, you hear the platform come to settle as like a crunch of sleet,

you know, like the elevator touches down. And then you hear two heavy slams on the ground and the shout of pain in the giant language. You also hear the clatter of something metal and then whizzing down the explosion of something in the gears. Seems like maybe they dropped something when they fell. Nice. That's dofus and dorcas.

Get better, nerds. You said your spell save DC is 17? Yes. If they're flying, do they have to make the save? Yeah, I was looking that up. I think I'm going to rule it that they do because I think Sleet Storm is stuff falling from the sky. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I think falling prone means they are actually going to hit the ground.

Love that. Which means falling damage. Yeah. What's cool about this shard of the Ildrum, which is what I'm using, is that my spell save DC is 15. But when I use the spell through the Ild run, it's 17 because it's the spell on the run that has decided to see. So both would have failed if it had been. my spell, but the fact that it's the runes, it succeeded. Yay.

Yeah. Anyone who's close enough to hear, so maybe Doran and Tamil and Red, through the pelting of the sleet, you hear the sound of two light bodies maybe hitting the ground. Witted and whim see one of these winged creatures flying out of the sleet storm towards them. It's kind of to the north end of the room, and it's about midway through the room, coming in fast, right at you.
