Starting point is 00:00:01 I'm a man. Oh, yes, yeah, yeah. Come on, buddy. What does Doran do? Hell, yeah. Battle buddies. Oh, yeah, I remember what Peacaboo is. Are you crying?
Starting point is 00:00:09 I just kind of turn around the left. Boo, Alex, boo! It's actually terrifying. Let's fuck this giant. Do it. Hold on. If he falls. If he falls.
Starting point is 00:00:18 Nat one. Nat one. Okay, I came back right of the perfect time. Let's go. Quit living in the past. Harlan? War. Crimes are war crimes. What's done is done.
Starting point is 00:00:33 War crimes. Some more crimes. They weren't war crimes. They're accidents. Okay? Bad calls. Sue me. Welcome back to Dyshame. This is Season 2, episode 190, fall for you. This week's MVP is Rebecca F, but Rebecca is spelled R3BECA. Retherreca. Rutherbeca. Thank you so much, Rebecca.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Rebecca says, I guess I shouldn't have waited until mid-series 2 to Google what MVP stands for. Where I work, it stands for minimum viable product, and that's always amused me. I hope you are amused being this week's minimum viable product, Rebecca. Congrats, Rebecca. Thanks for listening.
Starting point is 00:01:27 All right, shall we do this? Yeah, let's play some D&D. So there I was. we were driving down this dark, narrow, very, very dark, rural highway. How narrow was it? Of course, we passed many signs, very narrow, like one and a half cars wide, trees thick on both sides. We passed so many of these deer crossing signs, you know, and of course we got our eyes peeled. And wouldn't you know it, just as we're approaching this Ben, this is.
Starting point is 00:02:11 deer jumps out in front and we barely missed it. Then we managed to make it all the way through. Good job. Amazing. Nice. So good. So that was so proud of you. I'm so proud of you. Wow. Yeah. That must have been well it was scary for a moment. Then we realized that we didn't hit it. It was like oh,
Starting point is 00:02:33 then the moment passed. It was great. A lot of deer around here. So anyways, that's good. That's good. I think you should move to Canada, by the way. You should. If you like deer. Canada's beauty. If you like deer. I don't like you're jumping in front of my car. It sounds like that's a real problem up there.
Starting point is 00:02:48 It is actually. Vancouver is, you're fine. Vancouver is basically like Canada's Los Angeles or California or something. The weather's different, but the cost is the same. What's Toronto analogous to? Is it? Yeah. Like, structurally it's Chicago.
Starting point is 00:03:04 But in terms of our metropolis, it's New York. I don't think the attitude of the residence in Toronto is at all. It is closest to. Really? Montreal is, listen, we're talking about like shadows of shadows of the cities that are in the states. What I mean to say is if you want to talk about the most expensive city where all the Canadian Hollywood elites go, it's Vancouver, which is analogous to L.A. If you want to talk about the most metropolis type cityscape that's on the water, it's Toronto, which is New York. And then Ottawa is like Washington, I guess.
Starting point is 00:03:39 Ottawa would be like Washington and Montreal is like New Orleans where it's got lots of music, lots of color, lots of food. And that's like the four cities of Canada, you know? That's right there. That's what you can. And then you've got to smadding a little. They're really only four cities in the world. The Yukon's just trees. Texas is Alberta.
Starting point is 00:03:56 No one, Texas is Alberta. No one touches that. Correct. Don't go there. They just do their own crazy thing. And then P.I. is like Rhode Island. There's like analogs. There's like similar sort of vibes.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Well, I will say. In terms of like the personality or like the vibe, I would say Vancouver is very, very close to Seattle in terms of like just the way people are there. But I know what you mean by personality of the city. Yeah. Because they film everything. Everything filmed. Yeah. It's like, oh, yeah, film it into Vancouver back lot versus a, you know, a Hollywood back lot or whatever.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Unless it's. Speaking of backlog. Speaking of backlots. Speaking of back shots. Here we are in the back lot. Oh, finally, we've arrived at the set. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:04:46 You guys ready to go on? Set of Dyshane. Yeah, just put some sound effects here of us like, you know, pulling our... Can I ask you guys a question? I bet you're going to ask the same question I was just about to ask. See how in line we are. Wait, no, no, no. Type it at the same time.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Type it in Discord. And mine's nebulous, but I'll say what I would have roughly. Hold on. We'll press enter at the same time. Okay, hold on. You guys talk about. Alex, count them in for enter. Type it, and then when you're ready, we'll...
Starting point is 00:05:11 Okay, let's... We'll see, I'm ready. I did a brief. Joe, are you ready? Okay, yeah. In three, two, two, one. Would you perform this show on a backdrop like Critical Roil? If you were the green room for a dice, and what would be in Y'all's riders?
Starting point is 00:05:25 Okay, totally different. Okay, different. Oh, these are both good, though. It's interesting, because I thought, because you mentioned green screen, and I was like, man, you know, 10 years ago, whatever, five years ago, there were, there were, there, There was no d-and-d shows around, like on a table. It was like audio of anything. And now, like, to make a new show without a video component where people are sitting
Starting point is 00:05:50 around the table and having all the stuff is like, not unheard of, but it's just so likely to fail. You have a show like that. You are the DM of a tabletop show where there is a video component. Pardon my tape. Originally they weren't doing any video component and that's actually evolved and changed over time. So it's interesting because I was, and I mean, additionally, we were doing like 45 minutes of content in the beginning, which is zero amount of D&D as as D&D players would know.
Starting point is 00:06:19 Right. It was very different in the beginning is what I will say. And only in the past couple of years did they start like filming it. And then there was one year where they put like really um, silly and like old school runescape like graphics that were like really borderline unintelligible and that was really fun. I always, the only thing that'll get me to watch myself is the promise of like, what weird graphics did they put in
Starting point is 00:06:47 and like what they chose to, like someone found out what cobalds looked like at their office and like pulled up images of cobalds. It was very fun sometimes. Oh, that's cool. Do you prefer, do you prefer being on camera to audio or does it make no difference? It doesn't really make a difference to me.
Starting point is 00:07:03 I figured. I'm equally self-conscious either way. Oh, I think the like to perform on a back personally I would love it I don't know if that's clear or not I would love that of course you would you are all about the physicality that's just it if I think I think we all fall into the category of charismatic individuals that are going to do our not me most to put on some kind of show but I know that doesn't necessarily involve all kinds of d and D players not that everybody has to be like that. That's fine. But I guess my point is it also would be humorous
Starting point is 00:07:41 to have some of those D&D players do like a live because they'd be like yeah, I'm gonna roll for passive perception here. You don't watch a lot of live DMD now, Alex. No, but it'd be interesting. Because also you don't roll for passive perception. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:57 I said that, Nick. I corrected myself. Oh, sorry. I tuned out. No, listen, Alex. I think you'd be surprised. You just haven't been in it, Alex, but like the amount of... I know they're not like that. And I'm talking about
Starting point is 00:08:10 the vast majority now. They'll do a video podcast. Yeah, but not only that, but like Spotify is paying more for video podcasts and all this. There's like monetary reasons to be doing it as well. So we should... Are you suggesting we move to a video forum?
Starting point is 00:08:24 No, I don't want... We could easily. It's harder to edit. It's so much harder if you're not just dumping the content as is. Like if you're doing a lot of like sound design and stuff especially, it's a lot harder with video. Well, listen, we did...
Starting point is 00:08:36 We did... Cut our teeth. It live. You cut your teeth? Sorry. Ow. Ow. Ow.
Starting point is 00:08:41 We didn't Invictus live for like 10 years of like three hours. Like we started right around. It was before Critical Role. We were terrible. Yeah. But like what I mean to say is like there was no comparative at that point to be like, well, these are doing it. I remember there was like one or two other shows that I was like, no.
Starting point is 00:08:58 My point is we never did anything with it because that wasn't really the goal. But we have a lot of hours underneath it. And between the two, I just find trying to do a. longer game live is just, it's more exhausting. Because I always remember, and we would play for three hours and about half through the halfway point, our energy would just tank. And we'd be like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And then by the end of it, you're watching like four or five people kind of just being like,
Starting point is 00:09:21 yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's when it gets like how Alex was saying. You know, we're not professional voice actors, the way Nick is. What about you, Nick? Hi. Video or audio? I, I, yeah, I mean, I like video for, for something. But I also, I'm, I consume a lot of audio only, actual play stuff and podcasts in general.
Starting point is 00:09:43 So, but I'm aware of the, the trend of like everybody has. Like, all of the celebrities that are doing podcast on, like Amy Poller's new thing, it all has video. Yeah. Yeah. But also that's because a lot of, they put it if you're, if you're advertising on, like, Instagram or any social media platform, just having like a, like a waveform. doesn't get the clicks that a video does. So that's another fucking... It don't get the clicks.
Starting point is 00:10:12 It doesn't get the clicks, man. All about them clicks. It's all about that clicks. I'm so sorry. Tim, what's the actual play you're in? It's a show we do every six months on a podcast called Part in My Take. They basically have a D&D episode whenever a big moment in the sports season is sort of over. So they'll release an episode the day after the Super Bowl when they want like a vacation, basically.
Starting point is 00:10:36 and we pre-record the episode. Cool. But it is not a D&D actual play. It's very important distinction. It is a sports podcast where they every six months play D&D, and that's just enough time to forget all the rules of D&D more or less. To their credit, they're like, that's a D20, right, Tim? I'm like, it's always going to be a D20 pretty much.
Starting point is 00:11:03 Like every time. So these are like famous. sports broadcasts and whatnot. They are one of the biggest, if not the biggest sports podcast in the United States right now. Yeah, they're huge. I don't really know when I first met them. I did not know there were sports podcasts. So I was like, oh, I guess those would exist.
Starting point is 00:11:22 That makes sense. And then all of a sudden, next thing I know, I'm on like an office that's one whole floor of a building in Manhattan. And I'm like, what podcast is this? Like, I don't understand. The podcast is. are like, analogous to them. Your relationship to sports podcasting
Starting point is 00:11:40 is kind of like their relationship to D. Very much so. They interviewed me the first time I came on and then in the last five minutes we're like, could we play some DED right now? And luckily I was like, sure. Like, I don't know. And I'm like, there was a goblin.
Starting point is 00:11:55 And they were being like, the goblins working with Hank. I kill Hank. And you hear me like, no, he's not working with. Wait, what? That's not, that's not. I didn't say that. That's not even true. And they just kill each other.
Starting point is 00:12:06 And I'm like, wait a minute, this worked out perfectly. So it is a very, I think to their credit, they're very good at recognizing what we do well is not play D&D. What we do well is have fun with Tim keeping us borderline on some kind of semblance of on the rails. Like that's fun content. It's a very interesting combination. You do a great job. You do a fantastic job. I've seen little bits.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Like for my sensibilities, I'm watching for you. as a D&D fan, you know, nothing about them is like why I'm like interested in that. But from from you, it is beyond impressive to see a DM of your caliber. Roll with that. Rangle such people or like attempt to. You're with me. And it's extremely inspiring how fucking calm you are the whole time. Because like, again, rolls reversed, I'd be like, oh man, I would lost it there.
Starting point is 00:13:01 But that's like something that you excel at, right? Tim, you teach. I run D&D for kids. So like that helps. Yeah. They're just like, I'm doing a new story. Tim, how many times have you had like, you got booked for a table and you're like, oh, it'll be nice to play with adults.
Starting point is 00:13:19 But then when you get into the session, you kind of have to check down to the same methods and like. Probably more. Probably more. I really like when like it'll be the adults, but they'll just be. like, no, we were just here for the goofing around. And I'm like, that's totally fine, too. And, like, figuring out, at that point,
Starting point is 00:13:40 it becomes very much like, how can I entertain, like, what you're doing basically. A lot of the, it's a lot of the repeated gag of, fine, roll to see how hard you fart. Like, it's a lot of that way. Yeah. And, like, once you make them roll for stuff, the story can get, that's what I do with kids.
Starting point is 00:13:57 They're like, I actually want to catch Pokemon. I'm like, roll to see a Pokemon or reel. I'm like this is it. You just turn things into a dice roll. It kind of makes them feel like they either heard it or it's like one, I guess I can't do the thing I want. I'm like, yeah, bummer. But like you could do this stuff. Hey, keep rolling the die.
Starting point is 00:14:13 Let's see what happens. Absolutely. It's a great equalizer, eh? You must come home from those sessions like exhausted. Like, you know what I mean? Just like it's like your workout. Every time I see a picture of you DMing, you are standing also. Yes, I am never.
Starting point is 00:14:30 sit, I'm, you know, I'll sometimes be sitting, but I'm never eating. There's always food next to me having been offered generously to me that's getting cold while I'm like, damn, I'm so hungry. Damn, that food looks so good. And then as it like gets close, I'm like tantalus, as it's getting closer to my mouth, someone asks me a good question. And I'm like, damn it, that's a good question. Hold on. I'm so excited to keep the momentum going on this question. I have a diatribe for you. Unfortunately, my pizza.
Starting point is 00:15:00 is getting cold. Here's a picture of you sitting on a throne of basketballs. Yes. So they have a throne where they'll like do certain kinds of shows and I don't know what like I guess it's just for D&D. I'm not actually clear on what else they use this setup for, but they put me in the throne. I think there is a certain very funny dynamic when it comes to like sports dudes, the idea of like this guy's in charge. Everyone's got to listen to him. Like they get what a referee is. And they also get what it means to be like, screw that referee, I hate that referee. So there's this amount of like,
Starting point is 00:15:36 the DM I can tell is this highly respected individual, but also, I don't know. Like, I think a lot of them understand implicitly like, oh man, I might have a DM who I don't get along with. And all of a sudden we've got a very interesting and problematic game of D&D on Earth. The things they understand are always very funny. Some people say the D&D episodes of part of my take are my Super Bowl.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Tim Woods is a national treasure. I'll say this about the fans. It's always good when they, like, I always think like, oh, I'm putting a kind of D&D out there that's a little weird. And people all, a lot ask on Reddit, like, is Tim's D&D anything like real D&D? And they're always like, no, Tim does a really good job of like turning their chaos into real D&D. They'd be dead three times over. The fans who are both fans of the podcast and true D&D fans are like, all right, Tim, respect.
Starting point is 00:16:28 but like I see what you're doing there and like you sometimes like I wish the guys would just do the adventure that Tim wanted instead of what they did which was like murder the quest keeper try to wear his skin and walk around town and it's like yeah but like that got you kind of
Starting point is 00:16:45 like that kind of what? Who would do that weird? Yeah who would try to skin a humanoid? Oh, oh gosh it's so weird I forgot my dice I'll be right back I thought he was kidding. And I know, sorry, we waste the time, but I do want to ask this, too, because I message
Starting point is 00:17:06 you, but I forgot. You're doing that D&D cruise, and you've never done it before? Yeah. This will be my first time doing this. Yes, it's in October. Okay. I have friends who have done it before, and I've gotten feedback on, like, you know, the thing is, like, cruises are not something I had really looked into a lot, and I'm not, like,
Starting point is 00:17:22 I know I don't get seasick, and that's about it, but this will be a kind of first for me experience, both like doing something like this professionally but also just like I remember being like I think this is the longest I've been out to see and I feel like I shouldn't have to think very hard about that if I had been a week out to see before I feel like I'd remember that and nothing's jumping to mind so not a lot of accidental voyages happening to us in this I'll be honest because I love cruising Joe and I cruise a lot we just cruised we're probably considering cruising again and I looked at that I was like oh that can be really So what I really want to run is Fallout
Starting point is 00:18:00 because we're going to Alaska and so much of the fallout story centers around like the war happening in Alaska and like they never touch on with that look. So I'm like exploring that while we're then seeing the sites in Alaska would be really cool. So I'm dreaming of the idea that I get a table where they're just like run D&D, run fallout,
Starting point is 00:18:19 whatever you want to do. And I'll be like, cool, I want to run fallout, please let me do that. That's so cool. Yeah. That's a cool idea. work it into the Maybe we'll still do it There used to just be like the one
Starting point is 00:18:30 That had the name that everybody Like but it looks like there's at least There's at least a few different ones This one's called D3 at C Yeah yeah D3 at C yeah I didn't I had heard that others were popping up And I think they even mentioned it to me
Starting point is 00:18:44 So if you're looking for a vacation in October Go sign up to be at Tim Woods's table 100% do it Yeah Oh it's sponsored by the Army painter too. Ooh. There's going to be a miniature painter, a teacher,
Starting point is 00:19:02 so you can sit down with her and learn, like, miniature painting techniques and stuff. That's awesome. Bring all of our... I was actually so mad when I heard that because, like, I'm definitely going to be running games on the hour and the same hours when she's probably doing her classes, so there's no way I'll get to do them.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Just say that you're sick. Just be like, I'm so sorry I can't... I'll just be sick for every single... Put a disguise. They find me painting a tank, like, ugh. No, don't look at me. I'm sick. And I mean, Alaska cruise is so cool.
Starting point is 00:19:31 Like the way those icebergs or whatever, the glaciers will, like, crack. Like, you feel in your chest. It's so cool. Listen, if it's good, the next one, Joe and I are going to go. The next one's in October. Heck yes. No, the next one after. Tim, you might see Joe and Harlan.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Absolutely. Probably not. Hi, Tim. It's not impossible. All right. Anyway, should we play D&D? Yeah, let's play D&D. Now that Alex has it's fucking doise.
Starting point is 00:20:01 D&D on land. Yeah, they were here the whole time. I actually thought I was like, oh, normally I keep them in this drawer in front of me. I'm like, there's no way I move this drawer when I moved downstairs. We are mid-combat in the hips of the Vonandad and Red. You are being crad lovingly by Temeel. Red's like so tempted to just like. Stay.
Starting point is 00:20:28 He falls asleep. He's like a sleepy baby, like fighting sleep. Come on, buddy. Huh? Come on. Come on. Come on. Wake up.
Starting point is 00:20:37 Sorry, it's just the... We're right in the middle of a battle. Sounds of the motives. Let go of me. I'm a man. Yes, a man. And she puts you up right. He steps down.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Anyway, what are we doing? Right. I think I'm just going to ready my action. Fabulous. Till the moment this method pokes its stupid head out of hiding. Cool. Next method, you see your leave. losing an arrow, two if you can spare them.
Starting point is 00:20:59 The one I've hunters marked. Great. Is the one I'm going to attack. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Tamil, it's your turn. Red's hunkering. Tamil will, seeing Red and then maybe even like perceiving a bit of a shuffle further down from the room where all the methods are kind of coming from, she'll kneel down so that she's out of Red's line of sight.
Starting point is 00:21:22 And then she will just ready static to throw at a. If anything else comes around the corner, she will throw it at that. I love the idea of you and Red taking this formation. The like kneeling, javelin throw in front. It's almost like a defensive stance because you have the pointed end forward, like kind of like a shield maiden almost. And then Red in the backstanding with his long bow, ready to take aim at anything that comes within range.
Starting point is 00:21:54 And I do have a shield too. So it's probably, yeah, like kind of. standing up in front with the arm cocked back. Red sees you doing this and he sort of smiles. A fondness, a memory. From a few months ago when him and Kraloth used to combine their efforts, the old one too, he'd call it. And as he sort of washed over with nostalgia
Starting point is 00:22:16 and looking at the back of Temeal's head, sort of realizing how much more competent of a warrior she is, how much more intimidating. He's sort of filled with a sense. sense of pride and he steadies his bow on the top of her shield, sort of using it to stabilize his bow.
Starting point is 00:22:36 He says, all right, Tamil, you and me, we got this. Battle buddies, as my friends and I used to call it. Hells yeah, battle buddies. Yeah. Battle buddies for life, okay? Are you crying? No. It's because my last battle buddy died.
Starting point is 00:22:51 That made me tear up a little bit for some stupid reason. Oh, no. Dungeons and dragons. I got you back. Dora just turns back around the corner to Witted. Battle Buddy. Oh, yes. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:08 He's just like on its computer. Sure think. Sure thing. Whatever you need, Duran. Okay. No, he thinks it came for Reggie. Reggie looks at him. Like, do you know what they?
Starting point is 00:23:20 He's like, I don't know what that means. Yeah, I think Wim is probably going to to array herself helpfully behind Red. And if there's anything left over after Red and Temeel take their shots, she's going to send two meteors down to smite the remaining enemies. That'll be her ready action. So this is a shooting gallery now, essentially. Yes.
Starting point is 00:23:50 We line them up and knock them down. It's your turn. I'm tempted to just keep ready. things around this corner, but I also feel like if that method was a lucky situation. I don't see anybody else coming out of the fog in this direction. The sleet storm's almost doing its job too well because it's like constraining all of your enemies within one spot, right? We did, knowing that Doran is getting closer in the round, like the side path, he is tempted
Starting point is 00:24:21 to not sit back and fire anything. He doesn't really have ranged weapons and his only can't trip. is a firebolt at this distance. So he is processing his options and thinking about it. Uh, uh, doesn't seem to really want to, but it's going to take a step out from the cover of the room. I'm going to start heading in the direction of the sleet storm and try to take cover behind this pillar here, Joe. Yes, there are several tall mechanical pillars that line the far sides of either of these walkways. And you are absolutely able to sort of put your back up.
Starting point is 00:24:57 against one of them and get some cover as best you can. There are some moving pieces, so you're going to have to be careful not to catch any of your clothing or equipment on it, but you know, you're able to carefully gain, we'll say half cover, just hanging out by the weird spinning pillar. Absolutely. I will definitely ready the fists again. And then I'm also just going to whisper to Reggie. Reggie peek-a-boo, and I wink at him.
Starting point is 00:25:23 And Reggie seems to think for a second. Like he's saying, oh yeah, I remember what peekaboo is, and he flies around the corner and hides kind of around this pillar here, if that is an opportunity. Yeah, the middle one. Yeah. Even if there are like some moving parts there, I'm willing to risk it to get Reggie sort of hidden amongst, like a cat in a Christmas tree is what I'm kind of picturing amongst the mechanical parts. Smart. Very much. That's fully possible.
Starting point is 00:25:53 Perfect. Okay, cool. Maybe Doran feels a little bit bad that he just sort of took off on Witted without even, I mean, there's the soldier in Doren that is immediately gets halfway down the hall and goes, shit, I didn't give any like direction or orders. But then I guess he just deals with these. You saw the Giants and you lost your head, man. Yeah. And then so, but I guess I'm trying to make the point of Doren has this faith that he's built suddenly within Tamele and Witted. You know, that he's seen what you're capable of, and he's like, I'm fairly confident that you're not going to be worried on your own there.
Starting point is 00:26:35 Plus, the last people that you were in charge of, you sent them all through their deaths. That's right. So I stopped kind of just to take it in the past. Huh? War crimes are war crimes. What's done is done. War crimes, some more crimes. They weren't war crimes.
Starting point is 00:26:51 They're accidents, okay? Bad calls. Just because it was during war. And a crime. I'm a people person. Why don't you, people don't fucking... You watch for me! We have our first giant now emerging from the sweet storm.
Starting point is 00:27:10 Everyone welcome. Giant number one, back to the token layer. This is the giant that is covered in Red's fairy fire. Nice. You can tell. as every status effect. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Here's the thing about this giant. He doesn't have his sword anymore. Technically, they have a ranged attack. That's called rock. And they... What are you going to throw here, Bozo? Well, that's it. And I'm hoping to pull the audience, being my players here.
Starting point is 00:27:47 I don't want him to try to break this control orb to chuck it at... I guess it's just witted, only that's the only target. But I feel like he should have something, some ranged something. Personally, I think if the rare circumstances like this happens, then he wouldn't. Well, because not only is this a rockless map. This is something that from this giant's perspective, potentially, is like his boss's fabled property. So I could get behind him throwing something if this was like an old tanker or something. But this is also something that, A, nothing's going to come off of.
Starting point is 00:28:32 And B, I don't think he would break rank to break a piece off. I think this is a rare circumstance where the guy would be not able to do a distance. I agree. They don't, I'm playing both sides here. I mean, I always like to play fairly. I do. I sincerely do. There's nothing on themselves, right?
Starting point is 00:28:51 Like you can't... Takes off his underwear and shoots it at Wittitt. I mean, it doesn't make sense that he would unbuckle his chestplate and fucking hurling. Like, they don't have throwing stones like a grenade bandalier, but it's just stones. I could, I mean, like, I feel like there could also conceivably be, maybe there are like spare parts, like not cogs that are currently in use, but just like big metal cogs laying around that he could throw if we wanted to just kind of. But also, if you don't want to throw anything, it would. No, I don't. That's cool.
Starting point is 00:29:21 I don't think he's going to throw something. I don't think he has anything to throw. I think that's the thing with him having disarmed himself by accident when he fell the first time, slippery. Well, and what's really funny about this is I think if you hadn't had the previous enemies melt through the grate, I would have said, I think he should throw those bodies. But the fact that you very specifically were like, they melt through the floor. I was like, well, now there's not even like dead carcasses to throw. Throw him off it. I'm going to offer one more alternative as well.
Starting point is 00:29:50 A logical A logical thing that might take place. If I were this giant, and again, I'm just thinking both sides. If I were this giant, you come out of this sleet storm, unarmed,
Starting point is 00:30:03 and you're like, what the fuck? I'd probably turn around and go back in to try and see if I could help the other giant storm. No way. He just spent so much time getting over that sleet storm.
Starting point is 00:30:13 No way. He's like, fuck that. I'll tell you what this giant does. Boo, Alex, boo! This, Giant takes a running jump. Yes. That's dope.
Starting point is 00:30:27 He jumps across this chasm. Hold on. If he falls, if he falls, this is going to be the fucking funniest. Nat one. Could you imagine? He's squeezing, unfortunately, because it is a smaller walkway than he is. So he's going to be traveling. Then he should be jumping with disadvantage.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Well, no. So your strength score determines how far. far you can jump without even having to make any kind of roll. The fire giant strength score is 25. Oh. Which means he can jump 25 feet just from the standing position. Fair enough. From a running long jump. So he was moving out of the sleet storm at his maximum speed. And he jumps across the chasm. And he, he sort of like wobbles on the edge for a second. And he's squeezing between this monument. But you're rolling for this land at least with a wobbly ledge. Let's let's come on. Like how fucking. Like I'm with you. I want to. I want to.
Starting point is 00:31:20 the giant but if this is a fucking one how funny would it be if he falls in i rolled a 15 so he's all right um he yeah this this unfortunate giant limned in in fairy flame uh weaponless sees a single target of witted and is making his way toward him slowly but steadily it's actually terrifying the idea of this giant leaping and boom yeah yeah yeah he's got to come to the realization very soon that he doesn't have a weapon. What do you like get there? Well, when he sees this tiny gnome, I feel like I could beat up a child. I mean, regardless
Starting point is 00:31:57 of Bessie, yeah. He's like, I'm just going to fucking punt him into the gears below. Why not? Couldn't he just pick you up and drop you? You're fucked. Well, you got hoverboots luckily. Well, he doesn't know that. I think this giant's about to be a bit surprised. We're going to find out. You're actually the best
Starting point is 00:32:13 person to be out there, frankly. The second giant does fall within the sleet. The Mephette, the final Mephet inside of the Sleet Storm finally succeeds on their dexterity save. Finally. Good job, buddy. Yep. Makes his way out of the GM layer into the token layer, i.e., flies out of the Sleet Storm directly into the path of our...
Starting point is 00:32:43 Protagonists. Yes. Our heroes. Red. You were the first one to have your action fire off. You kind of specifically said that you wanted to target the one with Hunter's Mark, so we'll deal with that later. Tamil, you said whatever one I see first. So you can take yours first.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Yeah, so this is actually a long range, but I also am getting disadvantaged from... It's just single disadvantage, though. We don't get multiple. Yeah, yeah. So here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Oh, man, I got a 28.
Starting point is 00:33:18 on one, but does a 17 hit this method? Oh. It dies. All right, thank goodness. Yeah. All right, so this method is going to take 17 damage to this method. Nice. That's amazing.
Starting point is 00:33:33 Well done. Static goes straight through this creature's torso, and it explodes, potentially injuring its best friend that's standing right beside it around the corner. Hilarious. Does it? I will tell you momentarily. Six points of explosion. Wow.
Starting point is 00:33:54 That is a critical fail on a dexterity save. Yes. To avoid this explosion. Idiots. You're bad guards. It's like a chain reaction here. Boom, boom, boom. It's like barrels and doom.
Starting point is 00:34:07 Wouldn't it be amazing? If this, these two explode and then explodes those vats. It's actually immune to fire damage. Ah, that makes sense. Yeah. Otherwise, these things would be hilarious. I was going to say, like, it's like fish in a barrel. That would have been cool, though.
Starting point is 00:34:23 Anyway, yeah, static dispatches the method that was rounding the corner. And then Tamil will recall static so that she has it, but she'll get, like, low and really brace against that shield waiting for the next round. Yeah, this next method, Hoves interview, it is Reds, Hunter's Mark. My quarry. Your quarry. All right, I'm going to fight this thing. Do it. With disadvantage.
Starting point is 00:34:49 Yes. I rolled a natural 20. Oh, no. And a 16 plus plus. So the 16 will hit. Yes, it does. 22 to hit. You super hit.
Starting point is 00:35:03 Super hit. Super hit. Super hit. You super hit and dream of a world where you mega super hit. 18 damage. The Baffet explodes. It's essence torn asunder. by your powerful arrow.
Starting point is 00:35:19 Classic. Yes. I think seeing its friend explode beside it and then hearing another telltale explosion from down the hall, this third method chooses to sort of retreat a little bit. And does not appear. Unacceptable.
Starting point is 00:35:37 Yeah. I hate D&D. Why don't even play this game? All right, guys. Thanks for joining us. This is my shame. The end. We fucking do indeed.
Starting point is 00:35:50 It's going to ready a secret action that will come in handy later. This will be a secret for later. Yeah. Doren, it's your turn. Yeah. You know, most importantly, let me just state for the record, the Moffets are a Canadian pop rock band. That's why nobody's heard of them. I have.
Starting point is 00:36:10 I thought they were. I have. I have. I have. I have. They were like hands. They were our answer. The Hansen answer, yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:19 What does Doran do? That is the question. Whether to is dwarven in the no- Never mind. What? To use the slings of crossbows. Does he double back? Or does he continue on the path he's on?
Starting point is 00:36:32 I think Doran's second-guessing. You know, and I think I set myself up perfectly in the last round. I'm second-guessing and I'm going. I really didn't say anything to wit it. And now, now I feel really bad. I just kind of turn around the left. I should probably go back to where he was. He runs down the hallway, stops, runs back down the hallway the other way.
Starting point is 00:36:54 And sure enough, he turns the corner and runs out of the room only to be looking face to face at this fire giant who's only a mere 40 feet in front of him. Whose only crime is existing. Only crime is dropping his very precious favorite great sword down into the cogs of the Von and Dodd. He also jumped the bridge. Be careful. The first time you encountered a giant, Doran was chucked. Very far. And we know that these things can throw.
Starting point is 00:37:26 They do. They've got a good pitching arm. Well, Dorn would know that. He's got no rocks. It's true. What could he throw if not a dwarf? And as he stands there, he considers this position he's put himself in and what red might say to him. Give me that onion bagel.
Starting point is 00:37:42 That's like a... voice. Not physical. I want your onion bagel, bagel. You put this giant in a tricky situation. He's got no other moves. He's got to pick up a dude, you know? He's the fucking Joker. You made him this when you gave them no other option. That's right. And who did they turn to? A madman. Yeah. All right. Red, it's your turn. Red is going to move out until he has his eyes on the giant. Yeah. That is attacking being witted or rather looking him down. And with the advantage I have put on him,
Starting point is 00:38:18 I am going to attack. He is shiny, correct? He's shiny. 23 to hit. Ooh. Yes, you do hit with 23. 28 damage. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:38:29 And I'm gonna attack again with Colossus Slayer. Do it. Oh my god, fuck this giant. That's 26 to hit. Yes. Doing 26 damage. Red is gonna spend the rest of his move moving back into cover where he was.
Starting point is 00:38:40 Wow. Okay, I've came back right of the perfect time. Come on, guys, we can take these bastards down. Yeah. All right, following your lead, Temeel, who's turned it is, I believe. Correct. We'll move out, and we'll also take a shot at this giant with static, throwing again. And with advantage, 29 to hit for the first hit.
Starting point is 00:38:59 Nice. Yeah, that's teamwork, eh? 21 damage for the first hit. Wow, yeah. All right. 28 to hit for the second attack. Yep. Let's all fuck this giant.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Let's fuck this giant. Yeah, fuck them. Wow. Wow. Doran. Too far, Doran. We're also sure it only makes sense to fuck him in the ankle. Come on.
Starting point is 00:39:20 Oh, shit, another 21 damage. Fuck, yeah. Similarly. That's what you call battle buddies. Battle buddies. Battle buddies. But I think Tamila's going to kind of stay put to provide just one more target on the field just in case. Amazing.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Beautiful. Wim whips forward and. and sends two of her meteors out toward this fire giant. That's 13 cold damage against this giant. Nice. Chili. That's her bonus action because she already cast a spell. She just has it active.
Starting point is 00:40:01 She grounds her feet and summons a lightning bolt out towards this. Giant. Each creature in a line makes a dexterity saving throw. She's going to hit my ass. Yeah, Temeel's right in front of her. Yeah, bring it on. I'm wondering if it hits that device behind the giant. The giant rolled a 12, so that's a fail, and she is going to deal 8 D6, 28 lightning damage to the giant. The lightning bolt flies out of her fingertips in a 100 foot long, five foot wide line. And as she does so, it interacts with the mechanism behind the giant. And you see this like arcing ray of light that catches from the mechanism.
Starting point is 00:41:00 And it arcs all the way across the other side of the room and connects with that. massive pillar, it like moves through the sleet storm and you hear an explosion from the opposite side of the room. Then Wim like turns to you and gives you a thumbs up, Temeel, because she didn't hear shit. Too much, Wimmy! With the explosion pushing him forward, everyone who can see the giant watches as, you know,
Starting point is 00:41:27 you can see his bones and then you don't see his bones and then you see his bones and you don't see his bones when he's getting like electric heated. He stumbles forward at this explosion that happens behind him, and he slips. One foot catches on the edge of this catwalk, and he does the like, whoa, whoa, whoa thing. Arms windmilling as he's on the precipice of this catwalk. He slips. There's a moment of just breathlessness, and as he falls, he catches.
Starting point is 00:42:04 the side of this catwalk. He is now holding on with his hands, this platform, dangling above the gears spinning below him. Widdid, it's your turn. Do it. Do it. How? Whedit has one very important question.
Starting point is 00:42:24 Does it look like in that explosion of what happened to the machinery behind the giant, would Reggie be in trouble? Yeah. Through the after shock of white on your retinas from the lightning bolt that arched across your vision and the explosion in the machine behind this fire giant. And everything that happened with the giant falling down, you've lost visual track of where Reggie is, but he's not where he was before. Seeing that as the smoke is clearing and to his horror, he just doesn't see Reggie.
Starting point is 00:43:04 at all right now. Witted is furious. He sees the giant like dangling from the edge, but still kind of like between him and checking on Reggie in a certain sense. And he just, from inside the suit, this roar of anger echoes out of the suit. Again, does not sound like a gnome at all.
Starting point is 00:43:24 And as he hurdles through the air, he slams down fist first on the fingers of that giant. trying to knock his limbs free. Yeah. First attack is only going to be a 14. Assuming that does not hit, I don't think it does. It does not. Okay.
Starting point is 00:43:45 The giant moves the hand out of the way. 100%. Yeah, he moves the hand out of the way. As I land, you, you think you can just... And as he goes to slam the other fist down, I would love Reggie to come flying out and just start, like, getting in this guy's face, suddenly, this was the original peekaboo plan.
Starting point is 00:44:07 And as he comes flying out of the smoke, overwitted shoulder, he just lands on the giant shoulder and does this like a child's party, like birthday thing. Yeah. Noise maker comes out of his mouth and just goes into the ear of the giant. And it's like, and I will use the help action and take advantage on this last attack. Yes, that's phenomenal. 100% with a 20 absolutely. Absolutely. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:44:41 Whitted and Reggie together, the two of you, Reggie distracting the giant, putting down at the giant's one remaining hand. He lets go and you see a look of pain and fear in his eyes as he howls and drops down into the gears, this is a much messier end than the sentinels from before. The giant is shredded to pieces in the churning guts of the gears of the Von and Dodd, and it is destroyed. Let's go. I don't know why I suddenly feel like sausages.
Starting point is 00:45:27 You know, I can't help but feel like reading the names of the Patreon supporters is becoming longer than the episodes themselves. Starting point is 00:47:49 You did actually have advantage because he has Ferry Firey. So the first one probably could have rid. But this is cooler. This is cooler. True. Oh, damn. Oh, that is fantastic. That is cool.
Starting point is 00:47:58 Absolutely. Double advantage. Early morning, I got Mona Lisa by my side.
