Starting point is 00:00:01 No need for weapons if all we want to do is talk. Why don't we come close? Pallé vu Francie? We don't have to do that, no. You have to prove that it's worth our time after all. Go on, tell us. Talking is always a good idea. I'm like a balloon that's floating over your shoulder.
Starting point is 00:00:16 That's the word I'm looking for here. This is not quite a bargain anymore and more of a threat. You haven't given much, and you can bring us there. And you can keep your life. You looked into this guy's soul. That would be a natural 20. Woo! Get out.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Snap! Classic double-crosser. Ooh. Welcome back to Dice Shame. This is Season 2, Episode 191. Talk big. MVP this week is Carbonari, who is on the Discord and has just reached episode 130.
Starting point is 00:00:56 I'm so excited that you're catching up, Carbonari. Hopefully you hear this very soon. All right. Should we play some D&D? Yeah, let's do it. Woo! I'm ready for D&D. Or do you guys want to do some?
Starting point is 00:01:19 intro stuff. I think it's up to Nick. Why is it up to me? Because I think sometimes you're like, I just want to get into the game. And sometimes you're like, eh, I could chat for a minute. And I feel like I go off your vibes. Are we taking Nick's temperature right now? Oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:01:33 Can I just tell you it's, I feel it's so powerful right now. Yeah, you should. Really established my place in the hierarchy of this group. It's because a woman went around the moon, right? It's because a woman encircled. Artemis. Our satellite. Let's go.
Starting point is 00:01:49 Could I position myself as a vizierre or advisor to you and try to get my agenda. Thank you for asking. Take advantage. Form a powerful faction. Do it, Nick. We would control the intro that. I knew this would happen all part of my plan. Yes.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Do you tell us. Yes. Make them wait longer, Nick. I mean, we're kind of already chatting again. I could do an intro today, but also it sounds like we got a meaty session. There's nothing like a meaty session, but to preclude it with a meaty intro. Preclude? Okay, I want to play now.
Starting point is 00:02:31 I just want to play now. Really, we could talk about how fun intros really are. I actually have been loving, I listened back to the one with Al's shoe Emporium. And I was crying laughing. I was there for it. And I don't really, Yeah. It doesn't make you feel a little bit self-indulgent to be listening to us talking and laughing.
Starting point is 00:02:55 Oh, we're so funny. I'll be honest. I was a little disappointed that nobody jumped in on my, on my, no, it was beautiful. It was so perfect because the, like the production that Harlan put on top of it and it made it sound like it was
Starting point is 00:03:09 going to be this whole thing. Listen, no bit would have elevated it anyway. Like, we could have come in and then we would have done two minutes of improv that's like, yeah, you know, Either you, like, I feel like improv is more enjoyable for the people improvising than the watchers.
Starting point is 00:03:24 You think? There's a hot take. I, I'm not a big fan of watching improv. I, I enjoy doing it. Yeah, I don't know. But then that's probably, I mean, it is a hot take. I was going to say it's not a hot take, but because there's so many popular. You're just contradictory.
Starting point is 00:03:38 You like to dislike things that people like. I, yeah. I am. Although I should say, no, I'm not, because that would. Oh, very good. Like contrarian aspect. I don't know. Like, but.
Starting point is 00:03:48 drop out all this stuff that's super popular now that's all improv based people love watching that maybe I just I don't love improv it's true and you know what else have you ever been in this situation I knew I know my trash bags ripped I'm not adding sound effects to this
Starting point is 00:04:04 well then you should think about using the ultra bag the ultra bag comes in all shapes and sizes and can be used for all many purposes can't fade him out on this end can I great if you like watching improv shows Nick, right? You have a few friends that did improv.
Starting point is 00:04:20 Yeah, yeah. It does improv. Yeah, it's true. Not well or anything, but I actually have just signed up for my first, I've been looking forward to coming down to L.A. because there are obviously some very famous schools, and there's one called the World's Greatest Improv School, which is run by Will Hines. And I'm really looking forward. I just signed up for my first class there. I'm super excited about it. Oh, that sounds fun. Are you nervous? I am a little bit. I don't love the shows at the The improv classes are like, there's usually a show at the end, and I don't love doing the shows, but I'm forcing myself to do it because it is outside my comfort zone. And that's, hey, we support you for that.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Outside your comfort zone. Is that your, is that your mantra? What's it called? Resolution. Is that your resolution? I don't make resolutions, and I just kind of said that right now, but I think that that's kind of what it's going to be because like already. Yeah, you know what? I'm going to go with it.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Go with it. Okay. I like it. I mean, you moved to a new city. You moved this year. Yeah. That's always hard. And it's pretty early in the year.
Starting point is 00:05:19 What's your resolution this year, Tim? If you had one or your mantra of the year. Ooh, I don't know that I had a clear, hmm, resolution or my, I think play more different RPGs. I've been on a roll a little bit since last year getting some other RPGs and having fun with those. So keeping that going, doing more of that. What are your standouts?
Starting point is 00:05:39 I love that. I mean, the one ring I got to run professional, like, I think I had mentioned in a previous session, I got to do that was a lot of fun. playing more spire, playing the wrath and glory. I've been running some of that. Really enjoyed. Warhammer 40K RPG. I got to be in that game. It was a blast.
Starting point is 00:05:57 I mean, it's still going technically, but I could make a bunch of the sessions so my character got left in the halls behind. It was the perfect character to be faded into the background and sort of represent the, like, you were very much the leader of the people on board the ship it kind of felt like.
Starting point is 00:06:12 And so as we touched base with how the general population was doing, you were kind of the standout character to represent that side of things. So it worked out really well. Do you have like an RPG on the horizon that you're like, man, I want to play that, learn that. It's upcoming, forthcoming. Kind of, I've been trying to get more of a handle on the Fallout RPG because I am hoping to maybe do that one on the cruise later this year because it's an Alaska themed cruise and Fallout ties into Alaska in the storyline a little bit. I thought that would be a fun thing to do.
Starting point is 00:06:46 Yes. That's where the Great War happened. It would be a big, like, high-level zone, kind of. And if you're going to do a week-long, like, one-shot campaign, kind of, I think that would be a really fun. It's kind of, like, going into, like, the most dangerous part of Faroon or something like that. I am a huge Fallout fan. Not so much of the TV show. You just bought Fallout themed Sasparilla.
Starting point is 00:07:08 Some sunset Sasparilla. They had it at Costco, and I was like, this sounds fun. Yeah, if you need a test player to test it when you get to it, let me know. because I, especially the, I mean, the video games, the TV show is very cool, but it's not so much my bag, but I really love video games. And I love the lore. It's like, I'm not a lore heavy guy, but that lore speaks to me on such a fundamental level. Like, it clicks with me. I love it.
Starting point is 00:07:35 The themes in setting are so rich. They give you so much to play with. And the rule set is like, I think perfectly fine, largely because, as you can imagine, they just ran it off the computer game rules. And it's just like, yeah, that's just like, yeah, that's. translates. High praise. Perfectly fine. That's fun.
Starting point is 00:07:50 I will admit the rules are not so far my favorite RPG, nor are they maybe exactly what I would have done. I may even end up tweaking them, but I would still say it's worth investing in this rule set from the standpoint of they bring in the setting really well, and it's a perfectly serviceable kind of. It's the 2D20 system that Medfias is doing, and that's an interesting one I need to get more experience with
Starting point is 00:08:14 before I can criticize or compliment it. effectively. I've never even played with a 2D20. That's weird. Interesting. I got to try it out. What about you, Alex? What's your resolutions for the year? Oh, I didn't make any. Asked and answered. Yep, great. But I have had a couple people make a no new things, 2026 resolutions because they are kind of people who habitually take on too many tasks and then end up really overwhelmed. And so they're like sort of pushing things off until next year and using 2026 as like respite. That's right. No new things.
Starting point is 00:08:48 No new things, 2026. Liz listens to this, so I can't speak too negatively about it. I don't. I mean, I would. I don't respect or like you. I would, but I can't. To me, that feels so opposed to like Nick's thing that it's like, you know what I mean? Like it's almost the opposite.
Starting point is 00:09:09 I mean, and that's not to, you know, to each their own. The thing is it's like, I think that they aren't actually directly opposites because there are, If I didn't take on anything new this entire year, there are still ways I could push myself out of my comfort zone in terms of like how I relate to other people, how I view things, my pessimism, you know, like, my sass. But like... Sass brass!
Starting point is 00:09:31 My sass frass! The thing that I respect about the no new things resolution is like the realism and honesty of it of like, it's a... Especially women tend to take on a lot more than they have bandwidth for and then just kind of grin and bear it. So I actually respect the like the amount of like awareness and like self respect and and putting yourself first that it requires to do something like I'm not saying yes to a bunch
Starting point is 00:09:58 of new shit this year. I think that's totally fair. I think you're so right. And that is very much the vibe that they sort of came at it with. I think to me fundamentally I don't do resolutions. But when I sort of float them, I always have it sort of be something that. makes me feel like I'm being a better person. So it's just sort of a different category for me, right?
Starting point is 00:10:21 Like in terms of like, you know, that I'm more in line with, I'd say, your sort of idea, Nick. And I wouldn't do that because that's too scary for me. I don't want to go that far. This is actually something I... I love my comfort zone. I love it. It's so comfortable is the thing.
Starting point is 00:10:37 So comfy. Very comfy. I don't typically, I'm like you, Harlan, I don't typically make resolutions because, you know, like everybody else. else I found that I abandoned them too quickly. But I'm loving this idea of taking the kind of like, Wheel of the Year is a relatively modern invention, but the idea of those kind of like season-based milestones of the year, like Equinoxes and...
Starting point is 00:11:01 Tim was talking about that the other week. Yeah. Yeah. And the thing is, it's like a lot of the practices around them. And again, I'm not an expert in this, but this is something that I was told and I enjoy, or I really like appreciate it, is that like, what it is, is you get to a point. point in the year and you reflect on what's happened and what's coming next and then you adjust your trajectory based on those moments in the year. And it follows seasons and it follows like
Starting point is 00:11:27 change and it like embraces, it embraces the change and like the dynamic nature of life in the world, which I think is the better way to do it. So it's like instead of making a resolution for the entire year, it's like, okay, like until spring while I'm in this like hibernation mode, like what am I doing? I couldn't agree more. I think. I think that's exactly how I try to use and why I celebrate the eight, so, you know, points of the year. Even though, like, people have brought up the either legitimacy or illegitimacy of, like, certain ones of them. I'm like, the rhythm of it is what I find very useful and why I participate in celebrating those as kind of, I couldn't have put it. I don't think I even had, I think I was using it in the way you described, Nick, and I didn't have those words for it.
Starting point is 00:12:13 So, so thank you. That's a beautiful way to put in this sort of. like using it to almost aim yourself the way a New Year's resolution would is exactly how I tried to use those holidays. You know, I mean, maybe that's something we should adopt because I find myself, especially around holidays and stuff like that, that I am excited for because I am, I do love holidays. You're a festive person.
Starting point is 00:12:31 I'm a festive person. You seem like a festive guy. He is. I'm a festive guy. But I do find that sometimes it like, I'm not, I'm not in the rhythm. Like, I'm not clicking at the right time into the season and either I pass it by. and I'm like disappointed or annoyed that I'm like, man, and I say there's a lot to job.
Starting point is 00:12:49 I'm like, I wasn't present this year. Like I didn't, I didn't really feel like I was present for Halloween or I was present for Christmas or whatever. And I feel like this is kind of not necessarily an answer to that, but sort of like maybe a new way of getting into the rhythm. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:05 I think it's nice to treat the year more in like bite-sized increments because then it doesn't feel like you can fail too fast or that there has more chances I guess like more opportunities doesn't feel like it's all one big success or failure but you you can like try on new things and I don't know that's true because come you know the end of December there's a lot of like well fuck this year good Gigi like that I'm glad this is over type stuff well because it's so final because it's all been building up towards that point rather than sort of little celebrations for Gigi I've been playing starcraft a lot so I'm all in the Gigi. Good luck have fun.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Everyone gets into the mode of it. Speaking of playing, should we play some D&D? Stargast. Oh yeah, yeah, D&D. Hey. Having just electrocuted a fire giant and then, while he was hanging
Starting point is 00:14:05 from a catwalk above the churning gears of the Von and Dodd stomped his fingers and caused him to fall to his terrible death below, the party turns their attention to the remaining fire giant. It's the fire giant's turn. And coming from within the center of the sleet storm somewhere, you hear the fire giant call out to you in common.
Starting point is 00:14:31 Parley, I demand to speak with your leader. Parley. He's saying palais. I think he speaks French. Does anyone speak French? Palais vu? Parle v-vous Francais? It's French.
Starting point is 00:14:44 Red, red. It's army term. It means he's waving his white. flag. Oh. So, I mean, we should probably, I mean, why don't we come closer? It means we need a leader. Oh, well, I speak giant. I guess he's not speaking giant, is he? Wim starts to make her way toward the catwalk. Red will join. Temeel is right behind. Mm-hmm. Let it floats over. Look, let's all go together, but I don't mind taking the lead in terms of pal-le-vousing if we think that's a smart call. Red just makes sort of a a look, the same look that he's had multiple times to Temeel about Witted,
Starting point is 00:15:23 kind of being like, you know, the guy who wants the Von and Dodd super, super bad shouldn't be leading this conversation. It's like kind of just his overall vibe here. And then I kind of imagine, and then he's sort of like, does a, eh, to Doran, like, maybe him? And then both of us sacred. Wim raises an eyebrow and that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:44 I think, I think Doreen kind of pipes up and he says, no, no, I mean more like, do we, Do we take him for his word and let him live, or do we try and stomp them out what we have him here? I mean, all he's got to do is start hollering. Well, look, hey, talking is always a good idea. And I'm guessing, based on the fact that all of his compatriots are gone, he can be trusted. And if not, we can kill him.
Starting point is 00:16:08 As you stand on the catwalk contemplating the possibility of a parlay, the fire giant emerges from the ice storm in front of him. you. He's still armed. He's got his great sword, uh, held loosely to his side, just in one hand, and he's covered in a rhyme of ice from the sleet storm. He looks pretty miserable and he looks wary of you, but he doesn't look aggressive right now. You heard enough, have you? No need for weapons if all we want to do is talk. Why don't you put yours down at your feet? Yeah, here, here. Dice and slow like. And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, We'll put Oz down two in a manner of speaking.
Starting point is 00:16:51 No, we won't. We don't have to do that, no. And Red snaps his fingers and he'll cancel Sleetstorm. Nice. And the gesture. Okay. It is against the fire giant's laws to lay down a weapon, but I will sheath mine for you. And he puts it in his sheath at his side.
Starting point is 00:17:10 That won't do. No, I'm kidding. I'm that crazy about it. Got it. All right. everyone calm cool heads calm cool hates what do you want to talk about you asked for the palae well obviously you are a force to be reckoned with and i now represent the last of the fire giants on board i can see that any effort on my part to prevent you from taking over the colossus would be futile
Starting point is 00:17:48 So I would like to bargain with my life. Hmm. Bargain with or for? Common is not my first language. Four, for, bargain for his life. In the context of what he is bargaining, he starts to get into the philosophical argument. He doesn't want to die. That would be bargaining with his life.
Starting point is 00:18:10 You get it. Right. So you want to bargain. All right. what do you have to offer, I suppose? What's to stop us from, say, planting one of these and one of those and his axe and, well, in your head and just walking through you? He puts his hand on the hilt of his sword again. I suppose you could, but you would be missing much information.
Starting point is 00:18:44 Okay. Tamil's going to walk forward so that she's within 30 feet of the sky and then cast detect thoughts not probing deeper but just getting the surface level four now but she's directed at him and what sort of information do you think would be useful to us
Starting point is 00:19:02 you have to prove that it's worth our time after all yeah and almost comically as you say that and step up Doran like sees you step up and also steps up next to you. Just like a half step further. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:19 As Doran does that, Witted is sort of floating above, like was behind Temeel and then it's floating above. And sort of from inside the helm goes about the voted Dodd, totally just crimping his hand that that's what he wants to know the most about and that the giant can see the evening of his eyes. Oh boy. Timuil starts reaching behind her and kind of like pushing Witted back.
Starting point is 00:19:43 I'm like a balloon that's floating over your shoulder, kind of. What kind of information? A hand right on his face? Yes, yes, whatever you think we would want to know. They start to fall back a little bit. Timil, in response to your detect thoughts spell, you are able to ascertain that this fire giant's mind is leaping from subject to subject.
Starting point is 00:20:17 He is scrambling right now. A lot more frantic than he's letting on. This is clearly a experienced military mind, someone who is not giving you any idea of his weaknesses right now. He is scared. You get flashes of a city, Flashes of Duke Zalto giving orders, flashes of the other floors of the Von and Dodd that you have not yet explored. And he says,
Starting point is 00:20:53 I can tell you where the Vonondod is headed. And I can tell you about the arbiter. The who's it wasa? What are we talking about for trees here, Arbiter? That's arborist, you knucklehead. Oh, sorry. Tamil will turn to everyone else and kind of look for approval about this because the arbiter has caught her attention. Because they could probably figure out where this is going, but like if they got especially to the control room.
Starting point is 00:21:29 But this new possibly figure is interesting. So she'll look around. Yeah. Doran sort of sees your look and speaks up. Go on. Tell us. Yeah, Red walks up too. Yeah, what the hell's the arbiter?
Starting point is 00:21:47 Witted, what the hell's the abeter? And Red turns to Witted. Part of this machine? I've never heard of such a compotid. I want your assurance. Assurance that we don't kill you? Yes. How?
Starting point is 00:21:59 Timio, what's your deception? My deception is plus seven. Red turns around and huddles. Who's good at lying? I'm like, hey, ever again. Sorry, guys. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, there's...
Starting point is 00:22:12 You can convince this idiot that we're able to give me one second. Yeah, I think, I think at the Giants' request, Red sort of looks at Temeel knowing that she's like the best liar and like kind of, you know. All right. Well, let's talk terms. You give us the information and we, what, drop you off somewhere? Send them down the poop shoot. Ball shoot. We talked about this.
Starting point is 00:22:37 All right. Everyone, let's focus on, shall we? Sorry. I don't know how much you have learned about this colossus, but I'm standing in front of one of the control orbs. And he gestures down to the pedestal in front of him. And we have an ally standing next to another. If I access this, I can communicate with Duke Zalto.
Starting point is 00:23:08 And tell him what, that you have failed spectacular. at protecting this essential piece of war machinery in his plan. And to expect you. Well, we have already met Duke's alto, so he can expect us all he likes. This is not quite a bargain anymore and more of a threat. You're losing your foot in there, giant. I'm giving you the alternative to helping me.
Starting point is 00:23:35 Go on. If you agree to allow me to live, Together, we will take the Von and Dodd away from the city. I have a different idea about how the Von and Dodd should be used. And I believe Duke Zoltow is in error. Am I getting lie off of my detect thoughts from this, or am I getting sincerity? You're getting panic. Can I add, I don't want to necessarily probe deeper just yet,
Starting point is 00:24:09 but if I could add like an insight check on top of this. Sure. To see how how true that is specifically. Sure. 16. He's not reaching his hand for the orb, but he seems sincere. Okay. It seems like a sincere threat, but it also seems sincere like the thing that he's saying
Starting point is 00:24:31 about his internal disagreement with Zalto. All right. That is interesting. What would you do then? What would your plan be? He looks around at the churning cogs below him. He casts a look behind him at the pylon of blue electricity arcing up and around the room.
Starting point is 00:24:59 And he says, Devon and Dodd was made to kill dragons. I don't think that we. We should be expending the fire giant army at the gates of a city of small folk. It's beneath us. And I don't believe that we will gather the will of Anam by proving the Vonendod's powers against creatures so insignificant. none taken Doran sort of gives a side eye to Wittit it
Starting point is 00:25:42 he's like dragons this is a good point certainly certainly bored lied with the true use of this device would Widdett be able to make an insight check as well yeah yeah do it that is an 18 in all yeah I mean your impression of this giant
Starting point is 00:26:00 is that he is being authentic Widdid does say under his breath a classic double crosser Ooh, an opportunity. I don't know. You know, we had hoped that Duke Zolto's son could usurp him and remove the threat of Duke Zaltos' ambition from the world of the small folk.
Starting point is 00:26:20 But he was not exactly... What's the word I'm looking for here? Strong. Capable. Anti-weeney. Competent. Clever. Yes, thank you.
Starting point is 00:26:31 Yes, exactly. All of those things. It takes many years for the year. young of our species to gain their full intellectual powers. Assuming that you are not young and have gained all of yours, is leading the fire giants something that you have ambition towards? Duke Zaltow has only come into this opportunity by virtue of timing. There are many fire giants who would do better than he.
Starting point is 00:27:03 That, Timil, seems like a lie to you. I'll share that. I'll message, I'll start with Red, and I'll message all three of them. He doesn't believe that he can be overthrown so that everybody, and Wim as well, so that everybody kind of knows that piece of information.
Starting point is 00:27:24 Red leans forward sort of between everybody and says, something stinks about all this. It's unclear how to proceed here, though. Don't want to miss an opportunity, but also. What opportunity is it given us? Nothing just yet. Short-term. It is an opportunity for information and potentially a giant fighting against other giants.
Starting point is 00:27:44 Hey, that, I don't buy it. Plus, he's offering what? This with a threat as well? Hey, doesn't, something seems off. I think Doran pipes up. Tell us where are we going? I have yet to gain any assurance from any. Yeah, well, you haven't given much.
Starting point is 00:28:03 And quite frankly, all you've done is threaten and beg for your life. He's not wrong. Would you do any different in my position? Yes. Really? Probably. Well, I would either bargain. You don't say, hey, let's strike a bargain, but also if you don't, I'll throw you under the bus.
Starting point is 00:28:22 It's not much of a bargain. And I'd fight to the death. We call it the boulder or the steak. Yeah, well, listen here. It's a bad bargain. We call it an act of good faith. When you offer up a little something and telling us where there's, This Vonendor is not going to hurt you too much.
Starting point is 00:28:43 After all, we'll be going where we're going. At some point, anyways. Yeah. We are headed to the Elvin City of Silvery Moon. Oh, see? I already knew that. Information I didn't even need to ask or threaten over. Well, then you know I am telling the truth. Duh.
Starting point is 00:29:01 Well, we know you're telling the truth about that. What's your game here? To leave... with my life, with my honor intact, with the possibility of pleasing the All-Father. I know a lot of giants. I've met a lot of giants, and I've killed a lot of giants. And everything I've known about fire giants,
Starting point is 00:29:29 that doesn't seem right. Can I roll intelligence on giants, specifically fire giants? because from what I know about them, that is so contrary to the core of a fire giant to give up to want to abandon a fight. And I have advantage on knowledge checks for fire giants. Yeah, that tracks. That would be a natural 20.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Whoa! Get out. You know what kind of porn this darned watches. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's fire salamander porn. No, it's ice salamander porn. We spent a year living among the fire giants. You looked into this guy's soul, you know?
Starting point is 00:30:20 All right. Based on everything you know about fire giant culture and everything that you've kind of learned about Duke Zalto, you think that it would have been quite a misstep for him to have left someone like this in charge of the Von and Dodd, someone harboring these kinds of traitorous feelings. Especially given how Duke Zalto, how paranoid Duke Zalto was.
Starting point is 00:30:48 So I want to roll an insight now on what he's been saying. I'll give you advantage now for your insight rule. Eight and eight. Yeah. Oh no. That's a 15. You think he's lying about everything, all of it. Yeah. I mean, everything I know.
Starting point is 00:31:06 what fire giant says this asshole doesn't want to give it in nothing about his play here makes sense first off fire giants don't throw down the sword or ever make deals like this I'm sure of that as I'm sure as anything and the second part is if he's offering
Starting point is 00:31:22 this why threatened to touch Duke's Alto and get him on the on the horn none of this makes sense there's something else I'm missing just I don't know something doesn't sit right Timil will turn back to the fire giant and say all right you wish to live you wish to have
Starting point is 00:31:36 your dignity remain intact, land the Vonendod, exit it, leave it to us, and you can keep your life. Yes. I agree to these terms. Okay. Huh. Dang it. Well, dang. And he looks at, uh, at Temeel, an amazement.
Starting point is 00:31:58 Like that jaw drop. Timbiel sees the look and starts shaking around small, like, uh, very smiley, like, no, that's not good. Not good that he agreed that quickly. Where are you going to land it? That is entirely your call. But first, we must rest control of the Von and Dodd from Duke Zolto. And how do we do that?
Starting point is 00:32:21 You will have to meet with the arbiter. And now we come back to the original question. Who or what is the arbiter? I will show you. You will tell us first. The arbiter is the immortal. spark of the Vonidad.
Starting point is 00:32:41 Najed Ross. Bless you. Just a look to wit. Just a full head turned to Witted. Yeah. Eyes, the goggles have gone full on anime glint. They are glowing.
Starting point is 00:32:54 And he, as soon as you say the immortal spark, I do feel like that only in like one, maybe two ancient giant, like second third hand analysis of these texts, there had been whispers that the power source or something, we don't know what it was, but like they refer, the text refer to the immortal spark.
Starting point is 00:33:13 And he goes, it is real. That's the source of its, oh, goodness, the spark. Could Widdid make an arcana or history check on the name Naja Dross? Sure. Okay, so that's a 13. Either way, it's a plus nine. If this happens to apply to identifying a magic item and or technology, I would get an extra plus four for what that's worth. Yeah, it is a magic item or technology.
Starting point is 00:33:43 You recalled in the depths of your history studying, maybe when you were like a young kid, just discovering your love for this material. Remember, coming across this name in relation. relation to Astoria. The ancient giants. Yeah. This was a name that you remember in relation to
Starting point is 00:34:13 Mazud, the first of the fire giants. The son of Anam, the All-Father. You remember the name Najidras in relation to that. In terms of specificity, yes, related to the Von and Dodd,
Starting point is 00:34:31 but you can't recall anything else. This is almost someone pretty high up there in fire giant lineage. Like, this is very interesting. Okay. This, I kind of turn and to warn everyone. Beward, before we interact with this entity, it may be the voted Dodd, but I'm not clear that it thinks of itself as anything more than a giant.
Starting point is 00:34:59 I don't know what this entity, this intelligence might think that it is. Probably be better if a giant wasn't there, then, right? You can bring us there. Yes. Timil shoes a look at Red, thinking back to his concern that the Vonendad was a sentient. Yeah, immortal doesn't exactly bode well for our plans. Hey, say, before you lead us there, these switches, these crystals that we were switching, before you and your buddy came down to break up the party.
Starting point is 00:35:32 What do they do? They request permission. Cryptic answers. Why are you answering our questions so cryptically? Seems to jive with your suspicions there, Redd. It is possible that the common language is not serving me. Well, speak giant. I'll say that to him in Giant. Oh, awesome, awesome, awesome.
Starting point is 00:35:55 Yeah. He tells you in. Giant. Activating all four prisons will allow us to speak with Nadrid Ross. Oh, well, that's what we want to do more than anything. Red says, he said activating the prisms will allow us to speak to the immortal thing. It might be worthwhile to do. Hey, and I say back to him in Giant, why do you want us to speak to this thing then?
Starting point is 00:36:25 Why? Why? Why not fight to the death? You care so much about your life? You got a family? I have a child. You have a child back in Ironslag? No.
Starting point is 00:36:39 Where? In the mountains. Red will roll in sight. Sure. Get it. Get it after it. 21. You catch a moment of panic.
Starting point is 00:36:52 The same way that you see in my eyes when you're like, hey, what's that giant's name? And I'm like, I need to come up with a name. That's happening on his face right now. And he's like, Yes, I have a daughter. You know, I can't help but feel like reading the names of the Patreon supporters

Let's record stuff about people and say everything negative we possibly can and record it and then we'll have...
Starting point is 00:39:39 This is the energy. This is a great start. This is all going in the show. I was like, there's some real reverb coming through out here. If you agree to allow me to live together, we will take the Von and Dodd away from the city. You want to live together? I mean, that's very funny. Also, you know what I was thinking, too?
Starting point is 00:40:14 your detect thoughts would be, like his thoughts would be in giant. So the images would come through. Yeah. But any like words, sure. You know what I mean? Like names I'd be able to detect.
Starting point is 00:40:23 So like Zaltow and things like that. Like silver removed. Blurga, blurga, blurga, bluer, bluerga, zalto. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Silbery moosealto. Blurga, bluerga, zalto. Blugga peanut butter sandwich. Unless he has no inner monologue and then you're just kind of screwed.
Starting point is 00:40:42 You're like, you know, no. Oh, yeah. True, right? All right. Yeah, this guy's a dad. I love that. You just look at him and you're like... Look at how high his pants are.
Starting point is 00:40:52 He's got a lawnmower back there. It's a riding mower. That's a dad. Listen to his jokes. I got a barbecue grill over there. He's coming out with his hiked shorts and weird dance moves. Samil reaches for the thermostat just to see how he reacts. Stop!
Starting point is 00:41:05 68. He's like, don't touch that.
