You move together into the depths of this lagoon. There are a couple twists and turns that end these blind-ended crypts, but moving through these passageways, you make your way into the larger cavern together. Jack and Mari under the water, Doran and Red marking their passage from on top. Looking down into the water, Red and Doran, you can see the quality of the water is dark and viscous, the forms of Mari and Jack swimming underneath become obscured and their forms refract in a strange way as their limbs paddle through the water. Doren, I know I'm playing a cool, but I've never cast a spell before. It's pretty freaky.

Red's like tentatively taking steps forward. It seems to be working very well. It's like walking on those beautiful, and it's not even cold you know I've never told this to anyone before when I was sailing over here from Mazdica I love the open water I swear I whispered to it for hours on end but this is freaky

this I don't love because this is water in a tight claustrophobic little tunnel relax stuff I don't like Doran grabs your shoulder and he kind of pulls you down like hard towards him he's like take a deep breath red relax

you're standing on the water it's working fine. I know. It's so cool. Focus. Focus here. We've got to keep an eye on Mari and Jack. Look, look, they're under there. And you guys kind of like float underneath this. As you move deeper into the lagoon, you see that here and there along the walls,

there appear to be shallow shelves upon which you could imagine gaining purchase. But the size of the lagoon is impossible to determine as it continues out. beyond the reach of your dark vision. As you move closer to the center, you see that several men are lying on two of the rocky shelves close to the water's edge across the way. And that's when you see it. The dark water slides over something moving in the deep,

something large and pale that's swimming. under the surface. Its form approaches you slowly, distorted by a growing ripple of displaced water. Mari and Jack seem to be totally unaware of this

creature following them in the water. Red fires an arrow in front of them. What the hell? As they swim to get their attention. Yeah, Doren slaps the water trying to splash, make a noise, but it doesn't do anything. His hand

kind of bounces off the water. Yeah, exactly. I like that. Damn it. Does the arrow shoot down in front of us? Yes. Like, it kind of basically, you'd be swimming and it just right in front of you in the water.

Mari whips around, because either they've lost it or something is coming. Yeah, she looks down first, and then whips around, around behind her to see if she can see anything. Mm-hmm. You see a shape moving in the depths.

And from your vantage point on the surface, Red and Doran, you begin to discern this shape. There's a great, lidded eye regarding you, sitting on top, almost where you would expect the blowhole of a whale, and trailing behind it this aerodynamic, powerful body with thick tentacles. It's a pale form, and it drifts lazily. towards you. Come on, Doran. I'm going to run for the shore. You took the words out of my mouth.

And in fact, I took the words right out of my mouth. Running towards a shore directly over top, Mari and Jack. So there are three outcroppings along the perimeter of this lagoon. One to the northeast, one to the northwest, and one to the southeast. Hopefully they see me running and they kind of get the idea after your arrow.

They know where to swim. Underwater, you have a different vantage point. You might not see these shelves. I wouldn't say follow me, but that's just what's going through Doran's mind. No, that's a good call. Go for it. Mari and Jack, you begin to see this shape resolve as it approaches you. Everybody roll for an issue.

I love the little tag there. It's great. Thank you. You like the little cha-cha at the end? One day we'll get Alex to sing it. Someday. Someday. Oh, good.

All right, Mari. What'd you get? I rolled a five. Oh, no. I roll in low today. Jack? 18. And surface team.

Doran, what'd you get? That's a 14. A 14 for Doran. And red. That's a six. A six for red. Oh, no. Ooh.

What was that? It was the last episode. Oh, yeah. You said something fun. Uh-huh. Yeah, but what did Joe said something? Oh, fuck. I can't remember.

There's a slip up. We'll never know. There's no way of knowing. Yeah, I think it's, unfortunately, every aspect of entire recording, deleted from the earth. Yeah, it's gone now. Alas. Yes. Jack, this creature moves towards you in the depths, in the deep.

We're going to start naming him unlucky Jack. How far away is it? Oh, it's real close. Great. I love it. You're about 10 feet away when it becomes your turn. Oh, love to see it. It's swimming towards you.

You see that it's got these secondary eyes that run all along the sides of its face and down to the ventral side. Oh, man. So it's got like one giant eye on top and then a bunch like underneath. I think there's a moment looking at this creature where he relaxes, one level of the protection that this ring gives him and he tries to like mentally leave space to ask it the question like what are you what do you want it's like food food food oh no food food I love food swimming food so you are permitting telepathic communication is that right yeah creatures can

telepathically communicate with you only if you allow it yeah the creature does not respond to you it seems almost curious in the way that it's swimming up to you and sort of turns its side to you, looking at you through all eight of these secondary eyes on the right side. Hmm. Oh, what the fuck to do? What the fuck to do? It's obviously a bad guy, right?

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Pretty reasonably figuring, understand. Yeah, probably. Yeah, yeah. Just one of those. You've only got.

handful of spells left you should probably run jack you should probably run run run to the shore where you saw doran running to i mean i just saying yeah except marie's accused him of running the last million times that they've been here oh so now it's an ego thing okay well not even an ego thing oh yeah you got to redeem yourself marie around you're going to run away any second i can tell jack reaches a hand behind him and grabs marie by the arm and through the water moves his hand and moves his lips enough to get this spell out and the gestures sort of wash over her

and as sort of the wave of this creature's movement reaches us it sort of carries the image of Mari away with it and she's invisible as Jack casts greater invisibility on her giving her a minute of invisibility. You can do whatever you want for the minute, attack it whatever, you're still invisible so long as I concentrate. Cool. Oh boy, she was not expecting that

and is very surprised. And then Jack swims towards one of the shores where there are people up on them and sort of climbs out of the water for a second, holding his wand, staring into the murky dark. All right. It's my creature's turn. It's a time for the creature.

Just blow this thing up. Jack, you have like a million spells. I've only got 14 spells. And I think I'm out of potions that are helpful today. I have a bow. Dorn has an axe. You have 14 spells. a potion of water breathing you got options and i used him marie's invisible how do i have more spells

than you you have more spells yeah but they're like touch plants and shit they're touch grass how do you have more spells kiss a bug the drew i have this plant i have 16 oh did i not maybe i because it's your your level nine plus your wisdom modifier which is five for me which is 14 i have 16 spells hooray uh huh And Jack's like I gotta get my wisdom up now Now I know what to do If it makes you look better

It's great eyes looking up at you through the water. What do you want? Make a wisdom saving throw. Love to. It's my favorite type of saving throw. 15. Oh, you save.

Jack. Thank Moradin. Thanks, Mom, is really what we should be saying. Thanks, L-Dath. So you save. Just have him eat it. No, that was his action. No, I mean, eat the wizard.

All right, Dorn. Saved on me? Hope. Dorn. you pull yourself up on this rocky ledge and you see that to either side of you, there are these two humans lying on the ground. Both of them are white dudes with gray, silvery hair.

One of them is clearly dead. One of them is maybe dead? It's hard to tell. Uh, Doran in his, you know, haste, sees these old white dudes and, uh, turns and sees Jack sort of clamor up on the other ledge. Is that right, Jack? Did you... Yeah, I'm sort of crawled out of the water like a dying fish washed upon shore and are shaking my wand, looking at this big eye poking out of the water. so he sees red he calls across to red like in a whisper yell

where's where's Mari do you see her down there no I don't see her she's gone Jack abandoned her again I'm sure of it Jack

where's Marry is she with you her what's going on down there she's hidden for the moment it's right in front of me can you see it yeah it's like a gray blob thing

it's right there Doren's gonna skip down he's gonna run across the water and stand right beside Jack. That's going to be his move. Jack, this is a, is this a bad creature? Like, should I be shooting it? As he's loading his...

Get it! Crossbow, he's kind of asking this for confirmation. You know, Doreen doesn't want to shoot the wrong type of person. So, he's going to attack with crossbow. Oh, my God. A natural 20. Nice. So, that's going to be 26.

I'm going to roll advantage on my damage, right? What? How does that work? You roll your damage. Roll my damage twice. Twice. Right. I got it.

I got it. I got it. See, I remember it before you said it. And that counts. So that's going to be five points of damage. Wow. How amazing. And then I take another shot.

And does it hit a 16 hit? It does not. Oh, I hit it with my crossbow bolt. I guess I'll wait for it to come out of the water before I attack it with my axe. I don't think it's going to come out of the water. It's got, it's like a shot. shark with spider eyes and like octopus tentacles

it's not coming out of the water oh thank goodness eh well except it can get in I don't know Jack Jack is losing it a little bit

I think it's the eggs inside of you Red it's your turn Holy crap Red will pull back his bow and fire an error at the thing actually I'll try casting fairy fire on it first that's a deck save

for the creature Ten. That fails. So it is outlined in fairy fire. Hey. So every attack against it now has advantage. Outlined in fairy fire. The creature is outlined in a red fairy fire, as Red says.

Any tack on it has advantage now. And Red will fire an arrow to hit. Do it. Do it now. Do it, coward. 15. Yeah. You miss.

Feels like a low roll night. The arrow goes wide. Damn it. And I will attack again. Because what else do I get to? loose. I'm going to use an enfeebling arrow to attack the creature. More arrows. I got a natural 20.

Oh, wow. Finally. Yeah, so that's going to be a necromatic arrow. That's the second natural 20 of the game. This is going to do a fuck ton of damage. Holy shit. You mean your arrow is going to do better than my crossbow bolt at five damage? No way.

I don't believe it. 600. 600 damage. Do I kill it? 6,000 damage. No. No, no, no, no. What does it look like when you explode an entire underground cavern? 48 damage.

Nice. Oh, wow. And the target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw. 17? 17 passes. That's good. So Red hits it with a thunk, a chunky hit. And he reloads and he says, get to dry land, everyone.

Mari, what do you do? Does she know if this thing can speak Aquin? You don't know. Can I roll a check? I guess I can't see me. Well, you know that it was trying to communicate with you, or you can assume that it was trying to communicate with you telepathically. So perhaps it's open some kind of channel.

Her first reaction is to not attack. She knows she's invisible, so she's just sort of floating there. She's seen Jack run off again. And you see the creature become outlined in this red flame. Yeah, and she's pulled a bit of populous. grown under her bag, it's floating away. No, the bag's on the shore. She tries to, like, see if she can find that connection again.

She's, Havath Ertu. What are you? Was the previous stuff in common? Okay, so she's trying to see if this might sort of, like, throw it off. The response that comes back to you is in a language you don't understand. and it's cadence and just the sounds of the words almost make you quake with how visceral and terrible it is. Oh, that's, yeah, she can feel it in her teeth.

Exactly. And I feel like this thing probably isn't going to respond well to animal friendship. All the best animals can talk in languages. is unknowable to ban. Yeah, I mean, it seems nice. Look, man, one of these days, I'm going to win a battle by just being really nice to something. I'm here, right. I want that day to appear.

It would be very funny. She's going to swim out of the water away from this because it's not going to help much. I'm going to cast Entangle. Entangle. Okay. So that is the strength savings throw. 16.

18. Oh, well, I wasted a spell slot. Oh. So unfortunately, just a bunch of kelp rises up underneath it, but it doesn't really do much. It just would be really good for like a seaweed salad. Oh. Which maybe you can collect later. Yes, maybe if I survive, I'd certainly like some.

so, but she's going to swim over towards the... How far am I? How did I get here? You may find yourself? That's not my beautiful wife. I think I can make it to land. Yeah, your swimming speed is 30 feet, right? Yeah, I'm going to go to the land where Jack and Doran once were.

Just pulls herself up on there. I guess still invisible. Yeah. Mari, just as you begin to pull yourself up on land, The water in this lagoon begins to royle and this wave emanates from the center of the cavern and rolls outwards in concentric circles splashing up onto the shelves, and with a sucking pull, they begin to pull at everyone who's standing on land. Now, because Red and Doran, a water walk, I don't think they're affected by this grasping wave, but I need Mari and Jack to both make me a strength saving throw. Oh, no.

Jack's other. That's real bad for me. That's not a good thing. Yeah, the two people that shouldn't be rolling strength. Jack's other preferred saving throw type. So strong. Strong. So strong.

Strong willed. I'm also negative one strength. I think we only have Doran as the strong person. Doran, come help. Oh, four. Eight. Both of you are pulled 20 feet in towards the center of the room. Oh, boy.

Yeah, the waves pull me right next to the slimy body of this creature as it flushes us towards the bowl in the middle. As you get dragged in, you take 12 psychic damage both of them. That's how it sounds. Cranky. Still good on that invisibility, Jack? 13. So good.

Yep. Jack barely maintains his concentration as he's, you know, sucked under the waves. Good thing he can breathe. That'd be one more shock he doesn't need today. Oh, God. And you're drowning. Jack, it's your turn. I don't love this beast at all.

I'm going to try and use the powers of my mind to just force it away from me and make a little bit of space from this like weird slimy body as I telekinetically shove back at it if it could make me a saving throw of the strength variety. 22.

Yeah, it doesn't move. Turns out it's better in the water than me. Can you imagine the shark would be good there? Short on that, his hand-gripping, on's wand, he sort of waves it through the water and gurgles out a spell. A hail of hard ice pound down in splashes around just to the south of me, this 20-foot cylinder, 40-foot high area of hail and ice and cold freeze and then break the water and turn it into like this stormy sea. Nice. And as Jack's doing that, he's pulling in all of his chemical

jazz trying to like each of these hailstones give them a little extra force try and guide them with his mind down to bash down at this thing that's his plan uh could it make me a dexterity saving through please 13 uh that will not do it and so it will take 2d8 bludgeoning 4d6 cold and 2d10 force nice wow holy shit i'm like doing spells i'm like it takes a 2d4 damage you and me both you and me both 35 points of damage of various types excellent and until the end of my next turn this whole frozen frothy stormy area is difficult to rain to move through and like jack's hands pulse and they're bloated now and floating underwater and you can see the little creepy crawlies in all of his skin as he's shaking

holding on to this wand, pointing at this thing, trying to look it in the eyes and not throw up one more time. Mm-hmm. Yeah. As you finish casting your spell and these huge chunks of ice carved down through the water, the creature lashes out at you with its tail. 26 to hit. It do. Even with the help of swimming, my ability to dodge in this sick condition is greatly reduced.

You take 17 bludgeoning. Oh, my God. You have a pile of paste by the end of this. Yeah. And then worms crawl out. Don't worry. Caviar. Now it's the creature's turn.

What? Now it's the creature's turn. Oh, God. That's called a legendary action. Oh, no. Denied its attempt to charm you, it decides to kill you. The creature is going to reach out at you with its tentacles as it swims out of the way of all of this cold damage.

Reach out and grab you. I was thinking the same thing. Dung, ding, gurn, gurn, gurn, gurn, reach out and splash you. Um, let's see how much damage I get to do. More than a little. That's only 14 to hit. Well, my mage armor just barely protects me

as it bashes off the, you know, thin shell of magic protecting myself, but it wavers. Nice, nice. Uh, natural 20. That probably hits. Oh, no. Oh, no. That's basically like getting hit twice.

Well, 23 bludging damage. Jack goes unconscious. No, really? He didn't get to heal because he's sick as a fucking dog with little critters inside him. And so he is floating underwater. And then Mari pops out of invisibility. And Mari does pop under invisibility.

Oh, shit, right. The creature still got one more attack, thankfully. thankfully so it reaches out with its tentacles Mari and tries to hit you as well super good hope you guys don't like magic users because he ain't gonna have any by the end of this that's another natural 20 oh my god how the heck darron we need to get just other non-magic users for a party they keep dying oh that's almost minimum damage though I rolled two twos and two ones favoritism get ready for a new campaign So that's only 11 bludgeoning damage.

Oh, boy. Doran, it's your turn. So, correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think that picking, oh, hold on, do I have my action? I always love when Alex starts with that. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm playing a dwarf, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but these are dice. Okay, so if I were to investigate these.

these two bodies. I love Jack just gets like an eviscerated and Doran's like, see where this goes. He's underwater. You guys don't see him die. That's true. It's canon. We don't.

We wouldn't know. Hidden by this thing's terrible body. I wouldn't see him start to like get whacked and start to float. You would have seen the cold, you would have seen the giant column of cold go away, though. The cold disappears and Mari reappears. Yeah. Suddenly I just, I just boop into existence. I'll share with you guys what I'm thinking

in a meta version so I'm thinking that one of these four what are you made of people these four bodies one of them might be reamy just get him and go exactly

but secondly if I could check a couple of these bodies and then running pick up Jack and kind of like head for the exit because he's floating yeah but if Jack's underwater you can't get him you literally can't even reach him. If he's on top of the water, if he's floating, I could grab him. No, he would sink.

No, he wouldn't float. He, he breathes water right now. But, but he's a witch and witches float, right? Because they're equal to docks that are made of wood. Oh, all right. That's, honestly, that's the best argument you came up with so far. And I liked it a lot. Whether or not, so I'm regardless, I can, fishing for Jack. I'm going to look at these two bodies. I'd like to investigate these two bodies. Who, who, who? Who am I looking at here? Who are these two individuals? Are they old white men?

Yes, they are. They both have silver hair. They look remarkably similar to the other two creatures you were looking at. Both of these dudes are obviously dead. They've been dead for a while. Okay, then what I'm going to do is do a search for any... They've been dead for a while. No, anything at all.

Anything that might identify them. Maybe it is one of them. It's now the time. You want to take your turn and search these bodies? Yeah, I don't really have anything else. Cool. I hope Jack uses this to reassess how this team sees him. Work on your relationships a little bit.

But let's just go back to what we just talked about. I can't even do anything because he's sinking. You can walk on water. This thing might be within reach of you. But you're not floating. You could go. Okay, no, but hold on. Hold on.

No, I know. But here I'm thinking, if both these guys are obviously dead and I don't need to investigate them, then I would like. like to run back to the initial shelf I was on, that's my movement and then investigate these guys because it might be that one living guy that's Rimi. Yeah, definitely. So that's what I do. I see that these two guys are dead and I go, hey, I left this spot where this guy might have been living and that might have been Remy and we can get out of here. So I'm talking to myself. Yeah, you pick up this, this guy who is questionably alive. Yeah. And I go, I grab him by the

collaring, are you Remy? Like yelling his face, kind of. His eyes flutter open and this man coughs like he's been pulled from near drowning, thick strands of mucus dripping from his mouth and spraying

your face as he coughs. And he weakly says, Help, help me. And then he passes out again. That works for me. And Duren like, you know, just just wipes the shit off his face with the back of his hand.

as if it's not even like, doesn't even phase him. He goes, I think this is Remy. And he throws him on his back. Close enough. Let's get him out of here. I find a guy with gray hair. We're good. Well, he's living.

Look, man, all white guys look the same. It's fine. I actually couldn't even remember. Was Remy a white guy with gray hair? He was. Oh, isn't that funny? Okay. Doran, as you pick up Remy and begin to exclaim your intent to

leave this lagoon. Yes. The creature again whips out its tail at you. Oh. Mari. Oh. God damn it.

Doran, you're not helping. As you try to escape, it whips his tail at Mari. That was a natural too. Oh, perfect. Yeah. To hit you. So that's 11?

No. All right. So distracted by the fact that I said I was leaving. That's right. It's like, oh, I can't allow that. Okay. Red, what do you do?

Red seas Maori pop into existence, and he knows that. He's seen it enough times. Jack has gone down. Jack has gone down! He yells across to Doran, as he sees Doran run from one shelf to the other on top of the water. And he realizes himself, looking down at his wet paws, that he can't actually get to Jack. So he looks towards the middle of the water and screams. Stephen!

And you see a small little dolphin dorsal fin pop out of the water and dip back down. And Sivan is going to appear next to Jack underwater. And she is going to pull him, grappling him, because her strength is plus four, so 18. Whoa. She's going to drag his body 30 feet, which is half of her movement underwater. Dolphins love saving people. Yeah. So she's going to pull Jack.

Hey. Jack. Not out of danger yet, but. And then as a bonus action, I'm going to cast Hunter's Mark on the creature. Mm-hmm. Okay. Jack is just 10 feet away from me. And that's my turn.

Mari, the water, around you begins to spin and churn as a whirlpool erupts and you are pulled into it. You need to make a strength saving throw. Oh, stop doing that. Stop doing that. Oh, 18. Uh. Fail.

Wow. Oh, shit. Oh, my God. Oh. You take eight bludgeoning damage. Oh, no. as your head wax off a bunch of rocks under the wall. And then the creature begins to pursue Jack's body through the water.

I can't blame it. I'm a morsel. It's a tasty morsel. Mari, it's your turn. Well, you're also, it's an incubator. Yeah. So it doesn't want to lose track of you. It's got to protect data.

My babies. Baby. Mari. Daddy. What do you do? Jack's turned into one of those dog toys that you'd open it up and be full of like little baby dogs. Yes. He's just turned into one of the hos.

Oh, yeah. Puppie, puppy, puppies. That's right. Pound puppies. Oh, boy. It wasn't Pound puppies. No, it wasn't. Puppies puppies, puppies is a different thing.

Yeah, pound puppies is just like inside of it. Wait, wasn't Kitty Kitty kitten the one that has like a ball inside its head that? Oh, yes, it was. Like purrs or whatever? I had one of those. I don't remember. I just remember wanting a pound puppy so bad, or not a pound puppy. The one with the eyes where they flip up.

We had two. We had one. The Dalmatian. Oh, I still remember. Well, it said what you said, it sounded like you didn't get one. Speaking of Jack's floating corpse. I did want it, and then I got it. I was really happy.

Mari, what do you do? Oh, boy. Get to land, Mari. Just swim to Doran. Can I, though, in this? Marie, what do you do? Oh, you're fine now. The whirlpool lasted a moment between Red's turn and your turn.

I am going to, yeah, swim to land with Doran. and she hauls herself up. Mari. Coughs up a piece of kelp. Even though she's a very adept swimmer, it's rough out there. It's not great. How are you doing, hit points-wise?

I'm not doing great. I'm down half. Would the entangling area still be up? It's just floating around. It didn't work. So it's just wiggling around in the water. Just useless. So she hauls herself up onto there,

looks out and, you know, realizes that she's not invisible anymore. And she goes, where is Jack? I don't know, but I think I found our person here, and I saw Red. He summoned one of his, you know, I think it was his dolphin thing.

Anyways, I think he's got Jack over there and he kind of points across the pond. Can I see what's going on? Yeah, there's just a pool of blood slowly growing. The tail end of it, swirling in that whirlpool. How big do I go.
