He's really lucky that he was able to walk away from all this.
I was just checking how awesome snowy is.
It is.
I just rang it. You had the idea about using it.
This is not the time to talk about this.
Tell ya, I'm a little freaked out.
Maybe we should just douse the fire.
I have a candle. It's all good.
It's a clean burning fire, not a lot of smoke.
I'm a Barbie girl.
Just seeing Dr. Jones. She's doing a deep cave.
Get ready, Doran.
Go, buddy. I know when an animal needs scratches.
A spider I know than a thing I don't.
Do you think someone could be magic without knowing it?
it. I never had that. I knew magic from the day I was born.
Welcome back to Dice Shame. This is Season 2, episode 96, in passing. MVP this week goes to
Varis. Veris just joined us on Discord and said they've been listening to Dice Shame for the past month, and they're almost caught up.
Sorry that you'll have to find something else to binge at work, Veris,
but you're this week's MVP.
Thanks, Veras!

All right, shall we do this? Yeah, let's play D&D.
Woo!
Ow, ow, ow!
The woods are dark and quiet now. The sun has fully set as we see as we see.
Jack and Red stumble out of this wooded clearing towards where Doran and Mari stand waiting.
You're alive.
We heard you call.
Did you hear us?
Yeah, and like Mari goes over and then there's this awkward moment and then she like hugs Red.
Oh, hey, hey, you're so cold.
Yeah.
Are you guys okay?
I heard the bird song.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, we're fine.
We're in one piece.
Jack had a great idea about ringing it, and I guess you must have heard it.
through the open window. I just rang it. You had the idea
about using it. No,
you had the idea about using it. You were the one
that was, you weren't just ringing. It doesn't matter.
Look, it seems like the cobalts have moved.
Dorn is looking around, and he
doesn't see Alistair, and he sort of like looks really
sad, and he says, you didn't make it,
did he? Oh.
Oh.
Yeah. Um, no, look, he did. He did
make it. What do you? What?
Uh, look, he's on, he's on his way
back to Scarborough. What?
He died, okay?
He basically died.
I brought him back from the brink, yes, but...
But this isn't a life for him, and I told him he had to leave.
And we can't argue about it right now, okay?
He's safe.
He's heading back, I promise you.
But...
And Red locks his eyes with Mari directly.
This isn't the life he's made for.
He has a long life ahead of him.
It's not a way to die.
No, it really isn't.
I think you're right.
and I think it's better that he heads back.
Look, he's going to be fine,
and we can deal with us all in the light of the day,
but for now, cobalds are still patrolling these woods,
and we need to figure out what to do next.
Let's head north, Jack, which way is north?
That way.
Let's just start putting some ground between us.
Nice to have some certainty in this world, you know,
always knowing which way north is really, really grounding.
Sorry, which way?
Yeah, let's move quickly.
We know that was the direction we were originally heading.
It should bring us back to the road.
far enough up that the cobalds won't find
us. Let's go. Okay.
And you head off.
And as we begin to walk, Doreen kind of turns
and says to the others,
you know, if you ask me,
Ellister stuck around a lot longer than
I thought he would have.
You know, he's really lucky
that he was able to walk away from all this.
I mean,
shit, look at what just
happened at the inn there. I mean,
I would not have ever expected
there to be so many cobalds or trolls to be wandering around. I mean, I have to say, guys,
I think I kind of jumped the gun there when I threatened those cultists. No, no, and Red stops walking.
No, no, look, I jumped the gun. I'm sorry. I got cocky, I got bold, and I shouldn't have been. I
should have been smarter. I'm sorry. I flew off the handle. I thought we had it covered and we
didn't, and it nearly got Ellis to killed a second time. And that's what, that's what, that's
made me tell them to get the hell out of here because I knew that we were going to get
him killed again. I was going to get him killed. You know what? You're not alone in that one.
I have to say, I also felt pretty cocky about there, and I've learned my lesson, and I'm
going to be a little bit more mindful the next time we go into a situation like that. So,
let's let this be a learning lesson to both of us, and thankfully everybody survived that.
Yeah, thankfully
But if we're going to keep doing this
And if we're going to keep moving forward
Then
This tactic is not going to work
If that's what we're going to be facing
Then
Yeah
I don't think we're going to get a second chance next time
It's not going to happen again
I can guarantee you that
I think we're all a little bit more wise
Now
We walked right into the Hornets Nest
And then we kicked it
I kicked it
It wasn't a wise move
But you're right
We'll be smarter next time
Let's not beat ourselves up over it
Like I said
And we survived
You walk for about an hour
Before you make your way back to the road
It's some distance from the inn
You're not really able
To ascertain whether you are
Farther east or west of it
But you do spot
A building in the distance
Down a long lane
It looks like maybe a farmhouse
Oh, the lights are off
It seems like nobody's home
I don't see any smoke
Let me check what I should have done the first time
And Red lies down
And does a primeval awareness
It just collapses on the ground
I love that
When you do primival awareness
You just go prone
Snow angels
Just gentle smithels
In my mind I go in
Like I hunch over
Like praying position
I put my ear to the ground
But I do like the flap
But in my mind
It's doing snow angels
Let me check something
Red's doing Snow Angels stands up.
What are you checking?
What?
I was just checking how awesome snow is.
It is very.
Still good.
They're still good.
You don't detect any humanoids within five miles.
Red pops up, brushes the snow off his face.
Yeah, the farmhouse is clear.
Let's go.
And Red skulks up to the farmhouse.
Yeah, you head up the darkened lane towards this farmhouse,
and you see that the roof is actually caved in on one side.
the windows are broken
and there's a disused well
off to the side.
Aha, perfect.
Somewhere to sleep for the night.
I mean, doesn't look lived in right now.
Yeah.
It won't be safe enough to
take a proper long rest,
but we can definitely rest up for a few hours at least.
Red says as he sort of walks
towards the barn.
Mari goes and looks at the well.
There's actually a ladder on the side.
Going into the well?
Mm-hmm.
Hmm.
What do you see, Mary?
Empty well.
And a ladder.
Red runs over to the well.
Wow.
You know what that is?
A trap?
A mystery, Red says, as his head like goes down below the well, because he's already
climbing down it.
He's like, a mystery.
Red, as you climb onto the ladder, it grows teeth and bites you.
Roll for initiative.
No.
Jack, what are you doing?
I mean, he's going to go stick his head in the house and see what there is to see.
Is there any furniture?
Is it burned out?
is there a cool doran and jack are team house marie and team well yeah team house inspectors
yeah excellent as red's going down marie lights a little candle and hands it to him
i love the joke that it's like filled with methane and uh just like red can you climb a ladder
three-handed i don't think you can't he hasn't his teeth climb with one hand can you can't
red sure what do you mean you can't climb with one hand what is the other you need three points of
No, he's pushing his back against the far wall, and he's moving down with it.
He's like shimming down.
He's just using the ladder as like steps.
Okay, so red, you climb down the well like a doofus.
You mean like a genius?
Like an adventurer.
Mari's sitting at the top just leaning on it like looking down.
I have the candle.
It's all good.
You're watching Red descend in his pool of personal candlelight and his backs getting all slimy from the well moss.
Delicious slime.
No one's going to ruin this for me.
As you descend, read the pinpricks of starlight above backlight.
Mari's little face as she looks down on you and gets smaller and smaller as you descend down into the well.
The rungs of the ladder become really rusty at a certain point.
That's like where the water level usually is.
But as you continue down, it seems like the cistern, the base of the well, the underneath part,
like hollowed out a bunch of earth.
and you are looking down into this big cavern.
Oh, wow.
Mari?
Yeah?
I'm scared now.
Do you want to come back up?
No.
Do you want me to come down?
It's a big hollow sister down here.
My sister's down there?
Which one?
No.
No, it's sisters down here.
I miss her.
No, it's not.
No, no.
It's sisters down here.
This is not the time to talk about this.
And Red, just dead pants.
the camera, and he's like, ha, ha, ha, ha, what are you now?
Doran and Jack, the two of you are investigating this abandoned farmhouse together.
There's a bunch of broken furniture.
It looks like, unfortunately, some scene of violence happened here a little while ago.
Although, based on the damage to the roof, maybe this building has been abandoned for longer than that.
Well, I guess we're not the first people to squat here.
I'd say.
There's a cold hearth off to one side,
and the pantry doors are open to reveal empty shelves.
Do you think it'll be a right to start a fire?
Doran sticks his head into the hearth and looks up the chimney.
A bat flies out.
He gives it a good sniff with his nose.
He gives it a sniff.
As his nostrils flare and I would assume he can smell fresh air unless it's blocked.
Yeah, you smell night air, clean and crisp.
Seems like it'd be fine to me, Jack.
Let me help you.
And he sort of goes over and grabs a bunch of scrap wood and tosses it into the fireplace.
Yeah, broken chair.
Dorn sort of like eyeballs around giving this place a once over thinking,
to himself what might have occurred
saying hmm
every now and then
Jack is carefully stacking wood
in the fireplace and with a wave of his
hand it ignites and starts to burn
and we start to pull some clean air
in and get a fire
and then you're thinking about
oh just looking around
Jack you know how it is
I can't think to myself how
we were just in a
a little dwelling like this
and we were surrounded by a ton
of cobalds
you know
it's kind of thrown me a bit
I'm glad you guys made it away from
those giants and cobalds and stuff
that were chasing you
I mean yeah same I mean it was all a bit of
a cluster scenario back there
where we all kind of ran for
for covering our own directions
I can't be more thankful
that you and Red made it out alive
I was lucky enough to be near Marien
and one of those trolls
knocked me a flat out cold.
Oh shit.
I think that's what really shook me the most.
I can't remember the last time I've been knocked off my feet like that.
She turned me into a little squirrel, you know that?
Wow, she saved your life.
The fire begins to sputter a little bit.
Dorn hacks some more scrapwood,
breaking it up with ease and tosses a few handfuls in, really getting the fire going.
Yeah, the flames lick at the wood hungrily, and then they begin to sort of dows it again a little bit.
Is it just not enough air? What's going on, Dorian?
I don't know. It might be soggy wood. You think?
Red, as you hang in midair on the bottom of this ladder,
you realize that you're going to have to drop down into this empty cistern.
I'm going to let go.
I can't get to the bottom.
You want to come down, you can.
I'll tie off a rope.
Yeah, I'm going to come down.
All right.
And Red reaches in the bag of holding with one hand and drops the candle.
And it like sputters down to the cavern.
cavern below and then he ties a rope off and just lets himself down the last little length of
rope to the bottom ah come on down it's big and echoey echoey oh i feel like you shouldn't
making that much sound and she gives sort of one last look to the outside which is just cold and
empty now and starts climbing down the ladder in the dark yeah you'd catch one look back at the
farmhouse and you see just like a tiny glimmer of light coming from inside you recognize
I recognize, ah, Jack and Doran are making a fire, and then you descend into the darkness.
Yeah, and she goes down, trying to avoid the slimy walls.
You can't.
Oh, it's all in her hair, but it's fine.
It's already kind of weird, and her hair's a weird texture.
Mara, you dyed your hair black.
So cool.
Oh, never mind, it's sludge.
Yeah.
It's not great.
She drops down.
Yeah, and red light kind of helps stabilize her when she hits the ground.
Oh.
Check it out down here.
Pretty safe.
Did you tell the others we were down here?
Oh.
No, I'm not that smart.
Oh, that's okay.
They're not that smart either.
I think they were starting a fire up there.
Yeah.
We're trying to hide, I think, but...
That's what we checked the vents.
It's a clean burning fire.
Not a lot of smoke.
Lots of air.
I think they're giving this little carbon monoxide poisoning.
Sounds fun.
We'll get there later.
Look down here.
It's like this big cavern of...
I don't know.
I can't see much.
Do you have any light on you?
Yeah.
She finds the last.
little candle nub that she'd crammed in a bag somewhere. It's all like bent and sad, but
lights that. So maybe we'll at least find the other candle, like, with this tiny little
shitty nub that she has. I dropped it somewhere around here, but like searches the floor for like
the candle, which went out. It's not as cold down here as it is up on the surface, and there are
pools of water here and there that are not frozen. You splash around looking for the candle and
find it terribly doused.
Ah, here it is. Let me light it on yours.
Yeah.
What the hell happened down here?
Wells typically have water in them, don't they?
Yeah, this is odd.
I understand that, like, it looks abandoned up there, but it's weird that this is completely empty.
It's actually very strange.
As the light from your two candles begins to pervade the outer reaches of this cistern,
you recognize that this well must have been connected at one.
point to a huge body of water underground. And your echoing voices are not just because of this
cistern, but because of the huge cavern structure that you have discovered. Stalactites in these
huge formations drop from the ceiling. And it's almost like there's a series of steps that lead
deeper, deeper down
into this vast
cave system. Hey, I think
Doran has a book about this.
Doran has a book about this?
Yeah, something about the Dekeest, darkest deaths
or something, I don't know, he always tries to read it to us
at bedtime, I never take him up on it.
Darkest?
Murray blushes.
Something with a D word.
Oh, oh boy.
Let's take it out. Adventure! Red steps forward and
like holds a handout for Murray.
All right. Let's go.
Doran and Jack
As you get a little bit closer
To the fire
To try to investigate why it's going out
You catch sight of something moving
In and around the coals
Jack
The hell's that?
If there's one thing I've learned
It's that magic is more around us
Than I ever could have imagined
Aw
Is it possible there's something magic in there
Suppressing this fire?
Jack waves his hand
and tries to grab the thing with his mind
the mage hand to try and get whatever
is wiggling down in the fire out
and floating in the air in front of us.
The mage hand reaches into the fire
and you can't seem to grab a hold of anything
except for maybe a burning piece of wood.
And with the piece of wood
tries to like scoot the thing out the fire.
Yeah.
Get ready, Doran.
You watch as this void of light
kind of rolls out of the fire
place and then tiny appendages begin to grasp these glowing embers and pull them into itself.
This rolling piece of darkness consumes an ember, a small fleck of light before your eyes
and the fire gets just a little bit darker.
And then it kind of rolls back into the fireplace.
And that's when you see them crawling all over.
this stack of burning wood, the way that you would see carpenter ants trying to escape an infested
piece of timber, there are these balls of darkness. What are these little darkling things
doing here, Doran? I don't know, Jack, but I'll tell you, I'm a little freaked out. Maybe we should
just douse the fire and leave. I mean... Let's see what happens. And Jack, and Jack, wait a
his hand over the fire and it just, the fire goes out.
There's almost an imperceptible squeak of despair.
Did you hear that?
I think they liked the fire.
Dorn, like, gets down his hands and knees,
and he gets right up close to the coals,
and he sort of leans in and he says,
did you like that fire?
Did you want more fire?
There's a little chorus of squeaks,
Almost like you're talking to, like, a pallet of baby chicks, you know?
And Doren, without moving, he kind of looks back at Jack.
Light it again, Jack.
Light it again.
All right, take a step back first, and I'll do it.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
He sits back.
He sits up on his, on his punches.
And with another wave of Jack hands, the fire ignites again into a lovely roaring thing for the first second
before whatever these creatures start to gnaw away at that.
And then as the fire lights back up, Doran leans forward again, kind of sticking his face close to the flames.
These strange creatures climb out of the darkness.
And then, yes, you see one or two more drop from the chimney down into the fire.
And they begin to just like gamble and cartwheel all around these burning logs.
they almost dig these little embers off of the side of a burning log and just eat them.
They're kind of cute, eh?
I think Jack goes and grabs another pile of firewood and sort of crosses his legs and sits by the fire and just keeps feeding it and watching them.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You watch as these tiny little balls of darkness begin their feast.
From deep, deep down, and far away, you hear a scratching noise.
Was that you?
No.
Are you sure?
Yeah.
Can we tell where it's coming from?
Like which direction?
Deep, deep down.
No, it's hard to tell because of the echoy nature of the sounds down here,
but it raises goosebumps all over you.
What do you suppose that is?
It could be one of many things.
All right, Monry, why do you think they drain the water here?
Doesn't they drained it?
Do you think it naturally just sort of drift it away?
It doesn't just drift.
It leaves.
If the water leaves if it...
If it's called elsewhere.
Right, right.
Okay.
Look, do you got any, like, brighter light,
like dancing lights or any of those types of things
that have, you know, more light than these two candles?
No, I think if you wanted that, you should have brought Jack.
I can make some spiders, though.
No, no, why don't we want spiders?
No, God.
Jesus.
Would spiders help?
They could help.
I'd rather have a spider here, a spider I know, than a thing I don't.
Let's focus.
Okay, look, maybe we should just turn around and leave, right?
Yeah, I think we should.
Unless.
Hmm?
Well, look, there was a ladder at that well.
Most wells don't have ladders.
Which means there was a reason people came down here.
And if I was going to hide something valuable or even interesting,
I would probably want to hide at the bottom of a well.
True.
All right, a little further, if you insist, and Red walks forward.
All right.
As you move forward into the darkness,
you see these terraced areas where you would be going deeper into the water,
if there was any water here.
And it doesn't look like there is at first.
And then as you approach a place where you would need to step off into deeper water,
your candlelight reveals that there is a dark mist floating
almost like it would be floating on top of the water
Red stop just ahead of you
Gulp
I said gulp because you couldn't hear me gulp
No red it's too warm down here
Yeah okay look Mari
Remember how we just talked about not making stupid decisions to start combat
Red don't
No, no. I'm saying this might be a moment for learning.
All right, let's do it. I mean, let's leave.
There's nothing good here.
And Mari sort of looks, and there's this moment where she's considering going in to the water.
As you stand on the rim of this mist and look down,
you see these small creatures, maybe?
there are golden shimmering lights
flitting just below the surface of this mist.
They almost look like goldfish.
Hmm. Oh. Interesting.
That's... I thought I was almost coins for a second, but
coins don't move. Oh, they're not coins. Damn it.
Sorry.
How interesting is that? Red like crouches next to the edge of the water.
Do you recognize them?
Mari, it's a little bit too...
difficult for you to actually
see these
things clearly
because the dark mist that is
between you and
the creatures. Hey, let me help you.
Red blows on the mist.
I was going to say Red pushes
her in.
Oh, God.
As you blow on the mist,
your breath
pierces through
where you perceived the water to start.
There is no water. It seems,
It seems like just a huge, thick bank of mist in which these things are suspended.
Oh.
Oh, wow.
Wait a second.
It's not even water at all. Look.
Red bends down and sort of like moves it with his hand, like wave side to side.
Yep, you don't encounter any water at all.
Huh.
Mari kind of just hops down a little bit to see and shifts into it a little bit, like sort of
trying to brush it out of her face.
Yeah, you sort of weighed into it.
a little bit, and then the ripples begin on the surface of this mist, as if it was water,
as if there was something deep moving within it, responding to your agitation of the mist.
Uh, Mari? Yeah. I think something's answering.
Hmm. I always wanted, like, say something in Aquin and see if that, like, anything responds.
I'm a Barbie girl.
Oh, Aquin, sorry.
She's singing Dr. Jones.
She's singing a deep kite.
Nice.
Do you almost want to say it, or do you say something?
I want to say something.
What do you say?
And Aquin, hoping that maybe it's something that has some sort of ties to the waters.
She just goes, is anyone there?
The things that are moving underneath the surface of this mist,
the golden things, begin to move together.
Almost like they're all part of the same structure.
And they begin to move toward you, Mari.
Okay.
Red?
Yes.
Something.
Something is happening.
What?
I think this is a larger organism than we originally assumed.
Okay.
Look at that one, Doran. It's doing a little trick. Give it another stick.
Doran picks up another leg to a chair and he pushes it into the fire and gets it on fire and then tosses it in as they watch.
And Doran with almost like a childlike and look in his eyes, he turns back to Jack.
And he says, Jack, do you think, do you think little magic things like this exist everywhere?
and living in my bed at night
or in my pantry at home
you know
I mean
maybe not exactly like this
but this world is pretty suffused with magic
you know the weave is everywhere
that all kinds of explanations
for things happening in our world
there could be little magic mites
do you think someone could be magic
without knowing it
and Doran like looks down at his hands
I mean, it's not just study that gives people magic.
I mean, I know Mari learned from her family's kind of traditions,
and there's sorcerers who just spontaneously develop magic at a random spot in their life
and suddenly can shoot fireballs at a whim.
Really?
Doran sort of like invigorated, stares into the fire longingly watching these little things eat away the hot embers.
I mean, some people just make deals with other big magic entities and get magic from them.
Yeah, I don't want to do that.
I think I just like to...
I think I just like to...
Use magic for things that are useful.
Hey, speaking of which, Doran sits up cross-legged and pulls a wet stone, sharpening stone, from his bag.
And he begins to run it along the blitz.
of his axe.
You know,
I didn't really even know there was magic
until I met you guys.
I guess I did, I just never really put two
and two together.
Yeah, I can imagine, until you're in the thick
of it, maybe it seems so
strange and far away.
I never had that. I knew
magic from the day I was born.
Two wizards for parents will do that to you.
That must have been an interesting
childhood. Not a one of them ever changed a diaper
right, I'm told.
Yeah, really, eh?
That's good.
Did you ever do any cleaning yourself with your own hands or chores of that nature?
That's the rebel in me, right?
I love playing in the dirt.
I think I dug out the basement of Dad's Tower at least twice and found hidden shit there.
Really?
Yeah, that necklace that, I don't know if you remember that...
Mm-hmm.
I do.
There was an imp that stole.
That was the first thing I ever found in a basement.
and it was kind of a cool, kind of sparked my whole interest in archaeology.
And as we're chatting, Doren's, you know, sharpening and using his axe to, like, split small pieces of wood and shave off,
curls of wood off, feeds them almost by hand to these little dark entities.
Jack, very aware of his precious hands, is using his mind to move little twigs around in the fire.
Give them a nice little teeter-totter on a log or something.
I wonder if we should go check on the other two.
I think they climbed down that well.
We just had a whole conversation about this.
They're not going to do anything dangerous.
We're all playing smart from now on.
Cut to Mari and Red.
These gold tendrils begin to move in concert, Mari,
and they lift themselves up out of the fog.
And you can see now that they are removed from the shadowy substance.
These are the gold-tipped appendages of some strange frill.
And as the mist moves and shifts with a large body underneath,
you come face to face with a giant, gray-skinned salamander of some kind.
Oh.
It seems like it's treating them.
this deep mist as a home, as a normal salamander would treat water.
And it blinks strangely at you, first one eye and then the other.
And it licks its wide golden lips with a pink tongue.
Holy crap, holy crap.
Huh, and I'm going to cast Speak with Animals.
Mm-hmm.
And she, you know, looks into its giant.
and face and goes, do you live down here?
Mari, you are overcome in response by an image of the deep.
You see some deeper part of this cavern system.
It feels comfortable.
What did say?
It, this space is where it lives.
This is, it looks like it's a tone.
I think, I think we've just wandered into this guy's house.
I thought I was drawn to some cool, interesting thing.
Does it want to become my new pet?
Tell about Shale.
Is it just you down here?
You see an image in your mind.
Heavy droplets of light that crash on a dark, wet.
slab of rock and from those bright droplets you see thousands of worms that wriggle and roll
themselves off this dark shelf into deep water oh are there yours and the huge gray salamander
licks its lips in response it seems hungry hungry for what
I don't mean to disturb your space.
We don't want to cause any problems.
We just were exploring.
The salamander walks up, almost like it's moving past you, Mari, and then stops.
And it offers a wide area of its flank to you.
Oh, he wants squitches.
I know this red walks up beside Mari and starts scratching his side.
Don't you want that, your big lug?
Yeah, she walks over.
and puts her hand on the salamander.
Its skin feels at once,
like wet and sandpapery
and warm in a kind of disquieting way.
Huh. And it looks fine. I'm guessing
does it have any, like, injuries or anything?
No, but it is curling its body
into wards red where the scratches are being delivered.
There you go, buddy. I know when an animal needs switches.
I think he likes it.
Well, thank you for letting us into your home, bud.
I think we should probably get back up to the others
Jack could be dead like five times by now
Yeah, as she walks by
She sort of gently like
Sort of touches it on I guess like the snout
And just kind of taps her head against it
She's like, thank you
It smells awful
Yeah, it does but that's fine
Thanks buddy
Reminds her of her weird swamp at home
This grey mist salamander
Trundles back into the darkness
I'm gonna call him
Stefan
He was nice. I liked him.
All right, let's head back to the others.
Yeah, hopefully they haven't burned the house down yet.
As you enter the farmhouse, you are greeted to a very peculiar sight.
The fire that Jack and Doran have built has definitely grown beyond the reaches of the hearth,
but it doesn't look out of control.
In fact, it looks strangely dim.
I'm almost picturing like a circus of activity.
Like lots of little guys jumping over stuff.
A flea circus.
Yeah, like a flea circus kind of vibe.
Whoa.
What the hell's going on here?
Red immediately like comes up and sits cross-legged next to Jack.
There's just some little fire guys in the fireplace and they eat embers.
So we've been feeding him.
I'm going to call them.
Steevys.
Stevie one, Stevie two, Stevie three.
Two E.
these little dark creatures have doubled in size their appetites seemingly insatiable but
they've changed in color their innards have begun to glow this happy full yellow and
as the four of you gather around the fire to watch these strange creatures and to get a
bit of comfort from the winter outside. One of them pops. It's almost like popcorn.
There's a sharp sound and a bright light as its body turns into a spark and it dances up the chimney,
up out into the night sky. And another one pops.
And the frenzy of activity increases.
It almost seems like the remaining creatures are getting anxious about being left behind.
They begin to swarm over the embers of this fire, consuming more and more of the light.
And they begin to dance and explode and shoot skyward.
Most of them make it through the chimps.
though some of them sail out over your heads into the room and out through the windows as hundreds
of these strange dark creatures explode in a fury of light and joy they join the night sky all
around you wow yeah glad you guys got back to see that that was incredible me too yeah it's beautiful
