Starting point is 00:00:00 Oh... Well, Kralath, I'm sorry. Fuck you, Dice. Help me. Help me. Are we running away? Are we going to save Krayla? It's like when a shark comes at, you just punch in the face. Most things I would just punch. Daddy! I think this might be it for Chester.
Starting point is 00:00:17 Done. Chester, you've used up your last goodwill. Definitely know what you meant about feelings of claustrophobia there, Jack. Now the creature's gonna make some tentacle attacks. Wait, did you say tentacle or ten tackle attacks? Welcome back to Dice Shame, episode 29, bogged down. This week's MVP is Jessica Orrett for her amazing help during the Saturday night Jackbox streams. Join our Discord if you want to play. It's always a blast. If you haven't checked at our website, definitely take a look.
Starting point is 00:00:52 It's www.dyshamepodcast.com, and it's got cast, bios, lists of MVP's, tons of photos. and more. All right. Should we get down to business? Let's play. Episode 29, everybody. Episode 29. In the swamp with a monster?
Starting point is 00:01:20 With a... Swampy monster. With a frog on a log and a bump on the hole in the bottom of the sea. I kind of picture this medium-wide pan of like this swampy junk. and then we come into view and there's the four of us standing on a teetering mossy log
Starting point is 00:01:37 in the in this swampy water and you know we're kind of like mumbling amongst herself okay shift ship keep going get in get onto that log you hear a doren and we're like hopping from log to log oh see i was imagining you guys just taking a break i was thinking in the water we were sitting yeah maybe sharing a power bar but you know i could definitely see red playing on one and just pretending to be a gondola you know like yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Yeah, yeah. We're sitting on this log. I'm picturing the four of us, sitting on this log, and then Red and Kraloff are in the middle.
Starting point is 00:02:06 And it's just like light banter conversation. And all of a sudden, Red and Kralath at the exact same time, like, their eyes shoot to the water. And they both slowly stand up and begin to draw their weapons. But Jack and I are slow on the uptake, because neither of us here. So Edens or Oghurs? Who do you think's higher? I don't know. I think Eddons, they seem...
Starting point is 00:02:25 Fellas, we've got company. And then these tentacles shoot out of the water. Everyone roll initiative. Let's start with Jack. 13. And Kralath? 16. Doran, what do you have for initiative?
Starting point is 00:02:38 Four. Four to the floor. Red? 19. That makes sense, contextually. Yeah. Yeah. I guess it'd be more four on the floor.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Sorry. That's what I was talking about. Two separate thoughts. It does make sense contextually. And four to the floor doesn't make sense. Four on the floor. No, he's talking about art. I know.
Starting point is 00:03:05 There were two separate thoughts. I was correcting my own statement. So we're going to do a surprise round right now. The combatants in the surprise round are Red, this monster, and Krayloff. So Red, you get to go first. I love this idea that Red is sort of in his own little world listening to something, but laser-focused at the sign of these eyes. reaching out of the water just with Grey Loth.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Yeah. And even though he's like, Ah, they wonder, you know! He grabs his bow and fires, just like instantaneously. And I'm going to roll with advantage because they have not acted yet. That's right, yes. And I'm going to miss my first attack. Okay.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Good choice. And I'm going to attack again. Okay. This time with a negative five penalty because the first one missed. Ten. No, you miss. So I miss both of my arrows. So very true to fact.
Starting point is 00:04:00 red very quickly fires and misses both, which makes sense when you don't aim. I think because you're trying to fire at something underwater, you haven't done this probably anytime recently, if ever, so you haven't really calculated that, like, trajectory. But I will move as far away from this creature as I can, and I will call out, get ready for combat!
Starting point is 00:04:21 Okay, Kralath, it's your turn. What do you do? Kralath is going to step in front of Jack, and he is going to cast sacred, flame on this creature rising up out of the bubbling water. All right. Just for contextualization, are you jumping in the water then? You would have to.
Starting point is 00:04:38 I would have to jump in the water? Yes. Yeah, because we're on a log. Oh. Let me make this clear to everyone except for Red because he has a natural explorer ability. Moving around in this terrain will cost you double movement. Because it is all difficult terrain. You are wading through water.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Okay, so I'm going to step off the log into the murky water. And it goes what about like waist deep? Yeah, you're a little bit deeper than your waist here. And I'm going to begin muttering a prayer to Kellenvore to sacred flame this mofo. Okay, so I roll a dexterity save. That is correct, yes. That's a four. It's going to take damage.
Starting point is 00:05:16 It's going to take seven points of damage. Okay. It's the creature turn. Shit. Shit fart, what are you doing here? The creature lashes out with its tentacles and tries to hit Kralov. 20. That's going to hit.
Starting point is 00:05:38 Justin grimaces. You are grappled. So the tentacle wraps itself all around your waist and grabs you. Your speed is reduced to zero. And it also deals bludgeoning damage to you. 21 bludgeoning damage. Oof, that's heavy. So you are grappled by this creature now.
Starting point is 00:06:01 That's brutal, guys. It lashes out with a second tentacle at Jack. Yikes. 29 to hit. Yep. We might be screwed, guys. I'm 60 feet away. 19 bludgeoning damage.
Starting point is 00:06:17 And Jack, your speed is reduced to zero as you are grappled. Am I close enough to Kralath that I could reach out to him if we're both sort of... Yep, you're five feet away from each other right now, until you are. are further manipulated. Understood. The creature emerges from the swampy water. This is a monstrosity. It is huge in size, so about comparable to a giant.
Starting point is 00:06:42 It has mottled gray and green skin and a huge belly. Its mouth is the size of a dinner table, and it opens it wide as a huge, long tongue lashes out at you, Doren. It's lashing out a lot, lashing out irrationally. Make a strength saving throw. I will. Oh, I think I'm good. That is a 22.
Starting point is 00:07:09 The tongue lashes out at you and you fend it off with your strong punches. Maybe. I don't know. Yeah. Sounds good. It's like when a shark comes at, you just punch in the face. You punch the tongue. Most things I would just punch.
Starting point is 00:07:26 Yeah. Those things I would just punch. Daddy! So the tongue reels back into the creature's mouth. That was a punchy taste. That was the surprise round. So now everyone is alert. Red, it's your turn.
Starting point is 00:07:41 I am going to fire at this creature. Now, I want to spend just a moment and look at it. It has grabbed Kralath in one of its tentacles. It has grabbed Jack in the other one of its tentacles. Do I get the impression that I could fire at these tentacles? maybe to let it drop or if I shoot its eye. Can I just sort of examine the creature in a way? Tactically, no, you can't do any of those things.
Starting point is 00:08:06 I think we can homebrew a creature like this such that if you roll a natural 20, maybe instead of dealing bonus damage, you can choose to target a specific part of the body, like make an attack on one of the tentacles specifically. You see by looking at this creature, it has two free tentacles that are not, currently occupied with your friends, so there are more grabs incoming.
Starting point is 00:08:31 I am going to attack this creature. I am going to first cast Hunter's Mark as a bonus action. I'm going to use my sharpshooter disadvantage to hit a little harder, and no one's dealt damage to this thing so far, have they? Yes. Oh, perfect. That's right, the sacred plane. Okay, here we go.
Starting point is 00:08:48 So this is out of a negative five to hit. No, that is not going to hit. Sorry. I'm going to fire again because we have no option. And I'm going to do it out of penalty again, I think. No. Wow. Some episodes I'm rolling rocks.
Starting point is 00:09:04 All that soles I'll roll nothing. Boom. When I'm useless. Sorry, Red, you're too far away. The arrows sail off into the night sky and sploosh harmlessly into the water. I'm going to say you can't recover these arrows as well. Any ammunition you expend right now. You've got to quit breathing the swamp gas.
Starting point is 00:09:19 It's messing with your aim. Despite being far away, I'm going to move an additional 30 feet farther. As you do. So you're still not regaining your felon agility. Correct. So, Red, you are 90 feet away from this creature. It's got tentacles wrapped around Kralov and Doren, who is still sitting on the log beside Jack. Kralath, it's your turn. So you are grappled right now. You can, as an action, try to break the grapple. That means that you would be doing a contest with the creature's ability score. It's a strength. contest on the creature's part, you can choose a strength or dexterity rule to try to escape the grapple. Either one. That says an action, right? That's your action. Or you can try to attack or perform normally while still being in the creature's grasp, but that means your speed is still zero. Okay. So are we lifted off in the air? Um, not yet. Not yet. Okay. It's just reached out and grabbed you. I can get us out of here. Yeah? Don't bother trying to escape.
Starting point is 00:10:24 Okay, Kraloth is just kind of taken in the moment, and his eyes gloss over and they turn white as this shadow begins to wrap around his arms. And he's going to grab onto the tentacles, but instead of trying to pull him away, he's going to begin to grip them and have the black energy siphon into this creature. I'm going to cast vampiric touch. Okay. Cool. Very clever. How do you do that? It is a melee spell attack.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Okay. So I'm going to be adding plus five to this roll. It's a natural one. No! Come on. Fuck off. Yeah, you try to reach the tentacle, but it's just grabbing you too tightly. It's squeezing the breath from your body.
Starting point is 00:11:11 You can't quite maneuver in such a way that you can accurately cast the spell. And as a bonus action, I'm not going to do anything because I've already cast. Okay. Well, Kralath, I'm sorry. The monster pulled. Kraloth toward it, pulls you the full 20 feet through the swamp water, and it's going to bite you. Shit.
Starting point is 00:11:34 22 to hit. That hits. 23 piercing damage, and he swallows you. You are blinded and restrained. You're also going to take some damage from the acid in its stomach at the start of each of this creature's turns. Okay. So you are swallowed.
Starting point is 00:11:57 No! You hear from 90 feet away. Oh my God, guys. This is bad. So then the creature's going to shoot out another one of its free tentacles. Maybe the one that was just newly emptied from Kralov. And it's going to try to ensnare Doren. 28 to hit you, Doren?
Starting point is 00:12:19 It does. Okay, so the creature grabs you and deals... 18 bludgeoning damage, and you are grappled. So this creature's got Jack in its tentacles. It has Doran in its tentacles. It has Kraloth in its body, and red is 90 feet away. That foils my plan. Jack, what do you do?
Starting point is 00:12:42 So there is a play here that's really dumb. I like the sound of that. Because it is, wait till I'm just about to be swallowed and then do a thing. but that's really dumb. So I think Doran and I are next to each other enwrapped in these things, tentacles. Yeah. I reach out and just sort of wrap my hand,
Starting point is 00:13:05 not just like make a motion as if I'm grabbing hold of Doran and he's close enough to me that there's this like magical tendril that sort of leaps out and surrounds both of us and suddenly we just explode in a shower of light and sound and are not there. and this creature could make me a constitution save. Yeah, tell me what is the verbiage of the sport? I am taking a thunder step.
Starting point is 00:13:29 When you teleport yourself to an unoccupied space that you can see within range, immediately after you disappear, a thunderous boom sounds, and each creature within 10 feet of the space you left must make a constitution saving throw, taking 3D10 thunder damage on a failed save or half as much on a successful one. The thunder can be heard from 300 feet away. You can bring along objects as long as their weight doesn't exceed what you carry. You can also teleport one willing creature of your size or smaller who is... Doran, are you willing?
Starting point is 00:13:53 Yes. Are we running away? Are we going to save Kralath? Saving Kralath. Understood. And we explode. Perfect. Make a constitution save, please.
Starting point is 00:14:04 I will. What does that look like? I mean, one moment we are there and then this hand where I've reached out and I'm holding onto Doren, it just all becomes this shimmering, like thunderous energy and just force explodes out from where we're. we used to be as if, like, dynamite had been set off in us, and we erupt and are not there. And there's, like, glitters. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Where we were. Yeah, there is. There absolutely is. I mean, okay, so I rolled a 12 on my con save. So the tentacles this thing takes 17 thunder damage, and in an instant, Dora and I are standing behind it. Perfect. Nice.
Starting point is 00:14:43 And as we arrive, I signal to Kieran, get in here and try and distract it. Help Doran hit. It is Doran's turn. So Doran, you appear having teleported for the first time at the back of this terrifying creature. You are also chest deep in water. Just a bit discombobulated in the sense that I'm a little perplexed at what just happened. And so I attack the creature, which stands directly in front of me. As far as the help action, Rob, I'm reading that Kieran just needs to be in melee range with the creature and help works as help does.
Starting point is 00:15:32 So that's going to be Kieran's action. It's just flying around these things, eyeballs, trying to, you know, at least pull its attention away from Doren behind us. Dorn, what do you do for your turn? Well, I aim at the creature's back, which is standing under the water, thinking if I can slice deep enough into this like I did, with the eton. I might be able to just spill Kralath out. And so I attack with an 22. That hits.
Starting point is 00:15:58 Causing eight points of damage. Did you roll with advantage? Because you got help. You get to roll another die to hit. I get to roll a second hit die. Just like two and take the best because you've got advantage. Well, I hit. Yeah, but maybe you roll a 20.
Starting point is 00:16:14 Oh, true. Oh! I did. Did you crit? It did. None. Hearing helps with the 20. Sorry, you sons of bitches.
Starting point is 00:16:24 Oh, I'm glad you said something. Me too. Holy shit. Wow, what's the luck? No way I'm going to roll 20. All right, so roll your hit dice again. Yeah. Oh, so I roll my hit dice again too.
Starting point is 00:16:33 Fucking crit. So then that's, what is the first damage I just did? Was eight, eight plus four. So 12? Okay. Twelve. Take that, you foul. our long-armed tentacley beast?
Starting point is 00:16:51 Was that your first attack? Oh, it was. My second attack is going to be a combat superiority dice spent, and I'm going to yell over to Red through the thick of the swamp. Take your shot now, Red. All right, Doren! And add a three to your damage. Reason Red's been missing so much is because he's crying since Krayloff got taken.
Starting point is 00:17:14 Yeah. All right. I'm going to bust Chester out for this one, because I have been rolling shit since I shamed him. Chester, don't fuck this up. Chester, this is your redemption. I am hopefully going to be adding Colossus Slayer on this, and it is still tagged for Hunter's Mark.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Here we go. Natural one! No! Chester is... I think this might be it for Chester. Done. Chester, you've used up your last goodwill. I think done forever.
Starting point is 00:17:46 Bye, Chester. I am officially, with Kralath and the... belly of this beast, my best friend, and Chester rolling a natural one. I am officially saying goodbye to Chester forever. Goodbye. I'm sorry, Dora, and I missed again. It's the tears streak down my face. I think you need to give this die away. Somebody needs to get Chester. It needs to like be mailed out. Yeah. God has to go. No more Chester. I'm so sorry. Throw them in the mountain of doom. So Red, it's your turn now. All right. I'm going to pull out my gem stuff. stone die, uh, which I have rolled and it hasn't done great. It has not failed me yet. And this is
Starting point is 00:18:23 going to be my new named dye. I'm going to name this dye ash. And red wipes the tears from his eyes, seeing his friends swallowed by the belly of this beast. And I am going to roll again. Uh, this time I am hoping to hit. I have rolled now five times. Most of them with advantage and not hit once. But I am going to roll with penalty on this. Okay. Do it. I feel like your luck's going to turn around. I do too. Ten. Come on. Nope. You miss. And I'm going to attack again. All right. That is my sixth time attacking and I've missed. Here we go, Ash. Come on. Let me just talk to it real quick. Ash, I know that you're new to this family of Dice Shane, but you can do great things. I am so excited for what you can accomplish.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Oh, my God. Do you want to roll for me? Yeah. Do you want to do good little buddy? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Roll me. Roll me. Come on, come on, roll me.
Starting point is 00:19:19 I'm ready. I'm ready. Let's go. Come on. Come on. Come on. Give me a little one. And I'm going to roll.
Starting point is 00:19:25 Negative five penalty. Here we go. Sorry. Twelve. You miss. Yes. Oh. That is now the seventh time I have attacked with nothing.
Starting point is 00:19:40 He built me up, boss. Yeah. You got to roll. be harder. I've almost gone through half a quiver and not shot anything. So, Kralath, it's your turn. You are blinded. So any spell or attack that you make is going to, you have no creature that you can see
Starting point is 00:20:00 because you're blinded. You are also restrained, which means you cannot move. Yep. And any attacks that you make have disadvantage. First thing I'm going to do is get my health back up. Is he just going to take a moment to digest? Kraylath is going to take a moment to kind of just tune into himself, calm his breathing, get in touch with that place of himself that is Kellenvore's spirit.
Starting point is 00:20:27 And he's going to say, if this is my time, let it be so. What are the components of the spell? Verbal, somatic. Is it a creature that you can see? A creature you touch regains a number of hit points. You touch yourself. When you think about it. I should have to say.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Rayloth puts his hand down his, downs his bans. So I regain 22 hit points. Great. You needed that. That is good. And just let that digest for a minute. Yeah. Speaking of which, you take 13 acid damage as the gut churns acid all around you and into your eyes and mouth and nose.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Is there anything else in there with them? So like another guy, like... There's a skeleton. I wanted to follow you guys. Hi, Orrin. There's a red dye with white numbers. Oh, yeah, it's chest is in there. Red dye with white number. So the creature is going to try to bite Jack.
Starting point is 00:21:29 It turns around and... No mercy. That's a 12 to hit. Does not hit. It's teeth come down and there's the shimmer of the mage armor he's cast on himself as they sort of scrape by his shoulders. And then enraged, it lashes out a tentacle at you. 25 to hit.
Starting point is 00:21:47 That one connects. And deals some significant bludgeoning damage as it squeezes you. Ow. 17 bludgeoning damage and you are grappled again. Doran, it also tries to grapple you again with its tentacles. 27 to hit. Oh, my God. That hits.
Starting point is 00:22:07 18 bludgeoning damage. I got six hit points left. Yeah, not great. Kralath, how are you doing? I'm great. Never been better. Jack, it's your turn. You are grappled again.
Starting point is 00:22:19 I'm grappled. Thunderstep again. So this is the question. Kralath is within five feet of me? It's hard to tell, because this is a huge creature, so it occupies a 20-foot square. Do you know what I mean? Jack's rack in his mind. What the hell is this thing?
Starting point is 00:22:35 What does he know about it? Is there a way to get it to barf up a Kralath? Like what? Trying to figure out, like, what the... Great. What the hell is going on here? Yeah, why don't you roll a nature check? I love to.
Starting point is 00:22:44 Natural 20. Nice. Which gives me a 30 nature check. I know this thing. Yeah, you know this thing. You know what makes it barf? This is something called a frog hemis. Oh, gross.
Starting point is 00:22:57 You know that it could potentially regurgitate something that's inside of its belly if the thing inside of its belly deals damage from the inside, there would be a maximum cap of damage it would have to surpass in one turn. You also know that this creature has some damage resistances. Okay. It is resistant to both fire and lightning damage, but if you were to deal lightning damage to it, it might not like that very much. Oh, that's very handy to know. But you also know that Kralath being in the belly has total cover against attacks and other effects from outside the frog. Oh, cool. What do you do with this information, Jack? So if I cast a spell that's a bonus action, I can cast a cantrip that is an action.
Starting point is 00:23:44 That's right. Cool. So bonus action, Jack evaporates into mist and reincorporates 30 feet away and up in a tree somewhere. Looking down from that tree, he points towards the frog hemoth and sends a message to Krayloth with all that information telling him you need to do one big shot of damage and this thing will throw up. Don't use fire and lightning. He doesn't need to see to go through the message. It can sneak down this thing's throat and like whisper it into his ear. and he just downloads that information into Kralas' ear
Starting point is 00:24:10 to be like, we're here, we're not, you're not alone, here's what you need to do to get out of there. Doran's right behind you, we got your back, but you need to do this. Lightning would be a thing. It's resistant, but weird it happens, don't use fire. Okay. Can I message back?
Starting point is 00:24:25 Yeah, you get to whisper something back to me. I think I'm safer in here. I mean, truth be told, the only way that I can take damage. Yeah, that's true, that's true. We're not. I'm good. But I mean, like. You guys don't have a cleric right now.
Starting point is 00:24:37 You said I have to do damage? He's got six. Yeah. And I'll tell you, yeah, not looking great for me. Doran's fighting this beast off with Kieran's help. So Kieran flies around this thing's three strange eyeballs, making yowling sounds as only a tressum can. Doran, it's your turn. You have a Kraloth inside of the beast. You have a wizard up a tree, and your cat friend is 90 feet away. And Doren is yelling.
Starting point is 00:25:07 Krayla can probably hear the muted sounds of my voice from within the belly. Possibly? Yeah, I mean... Sort of not saying it. You can't hear what I'm saying. But I guess what I'm doing is reminding you that we are out here and then we do need your help. Yeah, yeah. For sure.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Yeah. Well, can I attack him? You have advantage to your first attack, yes, because Kieran is flying all around. But I'm bound, is my point. Yep. So you don't have a... movement speed anymore. You can't move of your own accord until you break free, but you can attack no problem. So my arms are free. You are grappled, but you are not restrained. Perfect. Okay.
Starting point is 00:25:47 So yeah, I'm just going to attack then with advantage against the frog hemoth. Yeah, do it. With, oh, nice, glad I had that advantage. 24 to hit. You hit. 24 hits. 12 damage. Okay. And then again, I attack. Oh, natural 20. The second one, and this was not with advantage, correct? No, not with advantage. Great job. And is that an eight on your damage die? It's a six.
Starting point is 00:26:14 Six. It looks like an eight from here. You get to roll your damage again. So that's 12 plus seven, 19. Great job. Damage. Okay, okay, guys. Wow.
Starting point is 00:26:24 It's almost bloodied. You know what? I'm just going to take, I'm going to take my action search. Yes, please. Okay. And I'm going to attack a third time. Good. Because I've been on a roll.
Starting point is 00:26:35 Apparently not. Oh, what's that? Four. Oh, well, an 11 to hit? No, I'm sorry. Damn. You don't hit my awesome monster. Reddit's your turn.
Starting point is 00:26:49 Top of the round. All right, Ash. I am not just, I think Ash has been lonely because I wasn't rolling other gemstone dice with him. You need to roll all gems. I'm rolling just gemstone dice. Throwing rocks. Throwing rocks. Literally.
Starting point is 00:27:02 Kickin Ash. Does anybody have, I don't have inspiration. Get this. this thing, man. All right. Thank you. Thank you, Rob. Yeah, you're welcome.
Starting point is 00:27:11 I'm going to use this inspiration, and I am going to roll with advantage on this. I am going to use my sharpshooter penalty at a negative five. We have two shots for this. Here we go. Two opportunities. Natural 20! All right.
Starting point is 00:27:26 On the inspiration die. Thank you, Rob. And I rolled maximum damage on my damage die, the gemstone, as well as almost max on the other one. So here we go. Okay, big guy. How much damage you do? That is 30 damage.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Oof. And I'm going to attack again with a negative five penalty without the advantage this time, but feeling better now. Okay. Nope. No. I think... Splush.
Starting point is 00:27:53 Ash, just sit away first. The other one roll the 20. I'm going to keep that next time. I'm going to use my feline agility to move 60 feet towards my friend Jack because I do have cure wounds and I know he is down. I'm not going to make it. get there, but I'm going to move as much as I can. So you get to within, like, 20 feet of him or so?
Starting point is 00:28:12 If I get picked up by that creature, I am absolutely useless. I shoot a disadvantage of close, and although with the reach, I'd still be like... I'm picturing jackals also up the tree. Like, he's... I can climb, so you stay up there. Okay, guys, Kralath, it is your turn. You know what you got to do. Well, let's hope it works.
Starting point is 00:28:30 So, I'm going to cast guiding bolt. I'm going to cast it as a level two spell. and I'm just going to go ahead and hope that it hits. No, it definitely doesn't. Oh. And now I'm going to take damage. Sadness. You take 11 acid damage as the Froghemus belly churns you up.
Starting point is 00:28:53 Don't worry. We'll kill it soon enough. Next, the creature is going to try to bite Doran again. If you guys are able to take it out on the outside, I think that's going to be the way to get it because I'm just going to waste my rolls and then I'm going to die. I have to preserve my own health. Make room for more because Doran, you are swallowed by the creature.
Starting point is 00:29:10 As you go down, you take 31 piercing damage as the creature bites you with its sharp teeth. Jesus. You are blinded, restrained. And you bump up against your friend Kraloth in this creature's stomach. Dorn has five hit points. Oh, I, Kralath. Oh, Dorn, damn it. And I'm restrained.
Starting point is 00:29:30 Can we make like a strength saving throat? unrest, like, to... No, you are within the creature now. But that's right. This is good, though. This is good. This is better that we're both in here. Seriously, because now we can help each other. Yeah, you're double the shot to make it vomit.
Starting point is 00:29:43 You're just where you need to be right now. Yeah. Kellen for guided you here. I'm always where I need to be. Okay. Now the creature's going to make some tentacle attacks. Tenticle attacks. Wait, did you say tentacle or ten tackle attacks? So, Jack, I'm going to give you some partial curve.
Starting point is 00:29:59 Yay! We'll say you get three quarters cover. So we'll add plus five to your AC because you are. up in a tree. Amazing. He's going to try to tentacle you. Twenty-three to hit. So it would hit, but I'm hiding behind a tree branch. Tenticle comes through the tree branch. There's just the last moment, throws up a shield just to block it in the last second. And the final tentacle, going out red. Twenty-two to hit? Yep. You've been tentacled, my love. Now you're going to take some bludgeoning damage. Yep. That's 20 bludgeoning damage. And you are grappled. Jack, it is your
Starting point is 00:30:33 turn. This monstrous creature that has just recently eaten Kraloth and Doren is underneath the tree where you are perched. And red is just been grappled by the creature. This long, oily tentacle has wrapped itself around him and crushed him. Horrified. What do you do? I know it's a frog hemoth. I know all kinds of things about frog hemith. I learned something about lightning damage would do something to it. Do I have a sense of what that is? It's resistant to lightning damage, so it's going to take half damage, but it's going to suffer some ill effects when it suffers lightning damage. So you're not quite sure what those will be, but you have heard that this is the case. All right, so I think we've got to do that, right?
Starting point is 00:31:17 Hmm, okay. Okay, so this gets all kinds of alchemical jazzy and uses up a ton of resources, but it's a magic missile cast at the second level. Nice. So give me four bolts. going to change those to lightning instead of force. Nice. Going to goose them with the alchemical jazz to get some extra dice there.
Starting point is 00:31:37 Good. That's 2D10 per. 2D10 plus 1d4 and plus 1. And 4 of them. And they're lightning, so it'll take half, but other shit will happen. But at least there's four chances for whatever the fuck that is. So the first one, 6, 9. Okay.
Starting point is 00:31:53 Second one, 18. Mm-hmm. Third one is 14. Mm-hmm. And the fourth one, 22. That was a lot of good lightning damage. Well done, Rob. That's a lot of spells lots.
Starting point is 00:32:05 It was worth it. As you shake the body of this frog hemith with lightning, it opens up its mouth and, it emits this horrifying scream and you see it look up at you in the tree. And it is entirely focused on you now, Jack. Kieran, go help Red get out of that tentacle. Doran, it's your turn. I'm restrained within the belly of this frog hema.
Starting point is 00:32:34 That's right. You can do anything you want because this is D&D and we're in the world of imagination. Except you can't move and you can't see. Okay. If you would like to make an attack against the monster, you do so with disadvantage because your arms are pinned to your sides, basically. Could I, being right next to Kralath, could I ask for help and then nullify the disadvantage? Crayloth can only help you on his turn, which it is not.
Starting point is 00:33:02 You could try to help Crayloff, but you would be sacrificing your action. Could Doren use his second win to heal? Yeah, you can do that. So I'm going to do that as a bonus action. Oh, that's pretty good. We'll add 15 points of health. Nice. So you regenerate 15.
Starting point is 00:33:20 And I guess, you know what, I'm going to have to try and attack from the inside. And the way I see it is kind of like, I was already holding my axe. So it's not like I have to get it out. But if I can use my strength to kind of like basically stretch out my body as much as possible. I'm picturing like, you know, pushing against its stomach from the inside. Yeah. Make an attack roll. With disadvantage.
Starting point is 00:33:44 Well, a natural 20 and a 5. Oof. So what's your total? 13. No, 12. Yeah, 5 and 7. 12 to hit? Yeah, 12 to hit.
Starting point is 00:33:55 That just hits. Hey! Get out. Oh my God. Thanks to Jack's lightning bolt. Yeah, really? Reduced AC. Oh, my God, that's amazing.
Starting point is 00:34:06 So then I'm going to do, oh, full damage, 14 points of damage from the inside of its stomach. I'm going to attack again. Damage is coming from inside the frog came out. Love and hit. No, that doesn't hit. That's what I meant to say. Okay, so the belly rumbles around you, but nothing happens. Red, it's your turn.
Starting point is 00:34:28 All right. I'm going to try to do a dexterity save to get out because Kieran is sort of fluttering around me and is going to give me the help action. So I'll be rolling with advantage. So it's not a save. So you don't roll with your proficiency if your proficiency if your proficient in deck saves. Okay. It's just an up and down check. So this is going to be plus three. Is your decks plus three? Yes.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Yes. So you get to roll with advantage because Kieran is distracting the monster. but the monster is going to try to keep hold of you with its mighty strength. Before I roll this, can I see if the creature is bloodied? Can I see how damaged the creatures? Can I do some sort of investigation? Yeah, well perception. 16. Yeah, a creature's bloody.
Starting point is 00:35:12 It's bleeding out of a lot of places. It's looking a little bit charred. And there's the shape of an axe coming out of its stomach. You see the shapes of your friends from within its belly. Does it look like it's almost dead? I wouldn't say almost dead. All right. 16.
Starting point is 00:35:28 17. Oh. Yeah, 17. Sorry. Shit. Kraloth, it's your turn. Okay, so from the belly of the beast, Kralath is sort of dwindling on health, and he's going to chug a health potion?
Starting point is 00:35:43 Yeah, just like going to shimmy his hands up to get it. Okay, so six hit points back. Okay. Goodbye health potion. I hope that's enough. Also, the residual healing potion from within. the bottle gets absorbed by the frog hemoth and he'll. Screw that.
Starting point is 00:35:58 Just kidding. And I'm going to, as my bonus action, cast spiritual weapon. Okay. Inside the belly. And instead of a scythe this time, I'm going to envision a dagger. Something small, something that can, yeah, and I don't have to see it. I'm just going to start poking upward or what I imagine up is. Ow, oh, oh.
Starting point is 00:36:20 10. Sorry. Fuck you, fuck you, dice. Help me. Help me. Okay, we got acid damage coming up. You're not helping. You're just doing nothing.
Starting point is 00:36:29 Shameful dife. Shameful dice. So the Frog Hemeth, again, digests powerfully the two of you. Each of you take 13 acid damage. Oh, my God. You down? Nope. Then the creature tries to hit Jack with its tentacles.
Starting point is 00:36:48 Okay. So it's got one occupied tentacle that's holding red right now. It's got three free tentacles, so it's going to try to hit you twice. I'm going to give you plus five to your AC still because of your cover in the tree. Yep. Here we go. Justin, would you like to come and verify what I rolled on these two dice, please? That is a one and a two.
Starting point is 00:37:10 Yes. Oh, beautiful. Wow, beautiful. So that's 11 and 12 to hit. Those miss. Okay. Fair. Jack, it's your turn.
Starting point is 00:37:19 How do you save your friends? Last desperate gasp Jack doesn't have a lot left but he's got something. He's got actually one thing and he pulls out his crystal orb and he's sort of stepping tree branch to tree branch carefully picking his way through till he can get this perfect shot and he sort of spins the orb in his hand
Starting point is 00:37:42 and this ball of radiant light appears there and he throws it towards the back end of this thing just on the far side of it away from. from red and is like, La Thander's light, save us! And it glows into this big glowing ball that has this holy choir of radiant light again, trying to make this thing, make an intelligence save or blow the fuck up using radiant damage on a fireball
Starting point is 00:38:06 instead of. Radiant damage instead of fire damage. And changing the save. So lightning damage, I'm not sure how long that lasted for, but yeah, I'm changing the save. I rolled a intelligence save, and that's a minus one. Beautiful.
Starting point is 00:38:24 Wow. 8D8, radiant damage. Here we go. 10, 20, 31. Wow. Radiant damage. Wow. Big explosion.
Starting point is 00:38:35 Wow. Poof. Yeah, it's singed beyond belief, but still alive somehow. Kieran, keep helping Red get out of there, and I'm going to pick my way through the tree, trying to get, like, climb branch to branch and get 15 feet further away from it.
Starting point is 00:38:49 Doran, it's your turn. You feel this reverberation as through its body, you can feel this creature getting hit from all sides, from behind, from in front, and it roars. That's what it sounds like. Ribbit. What do you do? There's not much I can do other than just with this advantage,
Starting point is 00:39:13 attack the inside of its belly. Try to push my axe through. You've got it, man. You've got it. I mumble with acid in my mouth. Fuck off. That's a 10. No, you miss.
Starting point is 00:39:25 Again, again, again. And I try again. Oh, 19. Yeah, you hit. Hey. How much damage do you do? Carve this thing up. Ten damage.
Starting point is 00:39:37 Jack and Red, you watch as this axe just bisects the creature from inside. And your friends. Doran and Krayloff tumble out as the creature howls and then falls over bleeding, dying dead. Fuck, yeah. Wow. Doran. It had nine hit points left and you killed it with 10. Good job.
Starting point is 00:40:09 Nicely done. Dorn comes spilling out. That's why those two fucking extra magic missile, they count. Wow. What do you do? Dorian, how's the beard looking? Oh, now it's like really... No, it's burning acid.
Starting point is 00:40:24 The acid has burned it all away. You have like fresh, clean shade. And I run over to Creelawl. Let's throw my arms around you. I thought you were gone. Careful. And you two, Doran. After Jack being taken by the stone giant, I thought we were.
Starting point is 00:40:40 I just roll and dunk into the water. I'm like, bluish, bluish. Oh, so nice. Good to get that acid off me. I definitely know what you meant about feelings of claustrophobia there, Jack. Oh, my God. All of a sudden, the sounds of branches cracking booms through the forest. The canopy shakes, and you see the dark flicker of movement through the dense vegetation.
Starting point is 00:41:02 Trees part to permit the impossible sight of an ancient green dragon. Illuminated by moonlight and taller than a watchtower. Wings held in an awesome display. Her serpentine neck curves upward, and she deafens. you with an ear-splitting roar. Wow, what's the way to get? It's something big. Oh, dragon, that's right. Thank you so much for listening. And if you enjoyed, remember to leave us a good review. See you soon. Hey, hey.
