Episode Date: July 9, 2026

Disgos, Jim Morrison is dead, and he didn’t die in a night club in Paris, but this doesn’t make the wild theories about Jim any less interesting, nor does it prevent us from discussing the... insane Jim Morrison “sightings” over the years and theories on how Jim “faked his death” and how he’s been spending his time over the coming years. Starting point is 00:02:35 after-party. This is the show, after the show, the party after the party, the bridge to get you one full episode of disgrace land to the other, the backyard, to dig into the dirt. Our mission, guys, to uncover the truth, to confront the myth to reclaim the story. On this bonus episode, we're diving deeper into the bathtub with Jim Morrison's body and the conspiracy theorists. We're previewing next week's new episode on the Happy Mondays, which is absolutely mad, as they say. Plus, we get into your emails, comments, DMs, and as always, a whole lot of rosy. This is the podcast for the musically obsessed, the outsiders, the independent thinkers,
Starting point is 00:03:07 who know that the best history is the history that. gets buried. Disgraced land is where I tell the stories they didn't want told the kind you'll end up telling someone else. All right, Discos, let's get into it. All right, guys, in this week's full episode on the death of Jim Morrison, you might have heard me make mention of the theory that Jim Morrison died at the rock and roll circus nightclub and not in his Parisian apartment as the official story goes. Here, however, is a clip to refresh your memory. In Paris, in 1971, there was a nightclub that Jim Morrison hung out at called the Rock and Roll Circus. It was a hotbed for drug use of all kinds, including heroin.
Starting point is 00:03:58 In 2007, the manager of that club, Sam Bonae, published a book in French only, in which he made the claim that Jim overdosed on heroin that night at the rock and roll circus and that his body was moved, out of the club, back to his apartment. and placed in the tub. Conspiracy theorists love this theory, but I don't. First of all, why would they take the body all the way back to Jim's apartment and carefully stage a scene with him in the tub? Why not just take him out of the club and leave the body in the street,
Starting point is 00:04:31 or in somebody's car, or anywhere, really? Why go through all the trouble of having to sneak the body through the streets of Paris into an apartment and then presumably convince the dead dude's girlfriend to get behind this fantastic lie with you, a lie that would clearly complicate her life. What incentive would Pamela Corsen have to support this lie? Okay, there is no incentive. And Sam Bennett offers no proof to this theory
Starting point is 00:05:00 rather than his own supposed eyewitness testimony and the supposed testimony hearsay, I would say, of a few other clubgoers. But there's no physical evidence. there's no corroborating evidence of any sort. You simply have to take these people at their word. It's the same thing as saying, I saw Elvis at the supermarket today. Bennett's book was only published in French. That's telling. And it was published by a niche independent publisher. Now, I'm not trying to shit on independent publishers. I'm just saying,
Starting point is 00:05:35 don't you think if this guy had the goods that a major publishing company would publish his book? Okay? I had a major publishing company publish my book. I have a little bit of experience with what goes into making these claims. Everything I said in disgrace and everything, even things I wasn't even thinking about. Inocuous facts that I thought were innocuous or I should say not particularly important. to whatever claim I was making. You know, like, all of that stuff was vetted and checked by an attorney, and I had to back
Starting point is 00:06:13 everything up. Okay, again, Bennett's book was only published in French. It never had an English translated version that was published. Why not? And again, it was only published, like I said, by a niche independent publisher, not by a major publishing company. And, you know, there's never been an English translation. That matters.
Starting point is 00:06:34 but there have been a shitload of English-speaking conspiracy theorists on TikTok videos repping this theory of Bennett's English AI-generated videos on YouTube. I'm so sick. Just a side note, I am so sick of these AI voice documentaries super serious on YouTube with spooky music behind it. And then cut down for TikTok. I'm so sick of this crap. I cannot wait. I can't wait until it gets blown out and it's coming.
Starting point is 00:07:06 There's all this fear, side note, all this fear about AI destroying everything for creatives. And yes, some of that is actually well-founded fear. But I do think that there's going to be a reckoning and the cream of the crop is going to rise. And this slop will be demoted and relegated to the dark corners of the Internet where it belongs. I think that's coming. I'm positive. Anyways, like I said, lots of English AI generated videos on this conspiracy theory that are on YouTube. cut down on TikTok and on Instagram.
Starting point is 00:07:35 And there are Reddit threads breathlessly supporting this theory also in English. Sam Bennett made a lot of hay with this rock and roll circus conspiracy theory about Jim Morrison and all of it with little evidence. Now, his theory, again,
Starting point is 00:07:50 that Jim Morrison died in the toilet at the rock and roll circus and his body was brought back to his apartment and placed in the tub. The theory is possible, I guess, in the sense that anything is possible. And the theory, Sam Bennett's theory, isn't necessarily disproved by the theory
Starting point is 00:08:10 that I believe happened, the events that I believe happened by the theory that I subscribe to, that Jim Morrison died from mistakenly taking his girlfriend's heroin supplied by Count Jean-Dé-Britoy. Okay? I guess, I guess Jim could have taken that heroin
Starting point is 00:08:27 at the rock and roll circus instead of at his apartment. and that he could have had his body moved back to his apartment. But again, why? Why would they move the body back to the apartment? Why not just leave him in the street or put the body somewhere else? Theoretically, both theories can be true. That's what I'm trying to get it.
Starting point is 00:08:46 But that then pushes the story into the Hollywood studio version of this rock star's death. And that's just a little too fascinating and a little too good to be true. And just too many fantastical things have to have happened in order for all of these pieces to come together into the story that the conspiracy theorists want us to believe. That's the problem with conspiracy theorists. They ask too much of us. The theories are always couched in this subtext that all of these secret duplicitous things are happening in the shadows. Well, some of us have been in those shadows. Some of us have spent countless hours researching what goes on in those shadows. Some of us have spent time.
Starting point is 00:09:28 with lawyers vetting what we found in those shadows. Okay. And usually the thing that actually happened is the most obvious thing, not some complicated reordering of events that involve multiple characters, all moving in secret together. Conspiracies mostly happen by accident, not by intricate planning and conniving. Events have momentum. People move in unison based on their own incentives, often without each other's knowledge in certain directions, often the same direction. And oftentimes, unexpected things can happen in harmony with each other. And the next thing you know, the president is dead in Dallas. I'm not saying it doesn't happen. It does happen. But it happens differently from how the conspiracy theorists want us to believe
Starting point is 00:10:16 that it happens. I believe that the best conspiracy theories, the ones that are actually true, happen almost by accident and less by design. But this doesn't make the conspiracy theorists or their theories on interesting. I'm fascinated by them, particularly the more outlandish ones. And when it comes to Jim Morrison, there are many, many, many outlandish and frankly, highly entertaining theories about Jim faking his own death. Okay. Now, I didn't really get into these theories in any detail, in any real detail anyways, in the full episode this week. But Zeth and I are going to be discussing in the exclusive section of this after party today, some of the wilder claims about how Jim has spent his time since he faked his death in Paris.
Starting point is 00:11:01 Okay, did you know Jim Morrison's a maintenance man and I've stayed in New York? It's true. And he wasn't really rush and blah after all. Turns out he was a cowboy, is a cowboy, I should say, up in Oregon. He's also living in Tibet as a monk. He's undercover and on the run from the CIA in the Australian Outback as well. He gets around Jim Morrison. That's my point.
Starting point is 00:11:21 This is one of my favorite ones that the C. CIA did it. And I'm being sarcastic when I say favorite. I actually hate this one. It cheapens the way in which we should be looking at the CIA, which is we should look at them as one of the most lethal, slimy, dangerous, and complicated organizations that the world has ever known. That's another story. But anyways, Zeth and I are going to have some fun with all this in the exclusive section of this after party coming up in a couple minutes here in the bonus episode. But you know the drill. You've got to be an all-access member to hear this conversation. go to disgrace landpod.com to sign up to become a disgrace land all access member to unlock
Starting point is 00:11:56 exclusive content like this plus ad free listening. All right in your feed right now, like we've been talking about, we've got our Jim Morrison in the count episode, the mysterious count coming up next right after this after party is a rewind episode from our archive on John Lennon Parts 1 and 2, originally released on June 10th, 2018. 2018, damn, that was a long time ago. This episode deals with John Lennon and the motivation behind his assassination. When you listen to these episodes, you're going to learn why John Lennon was tied up and blindfolded by his producer in the studio.
Starting point is 00:12:30 You're going to learn about why John Lennon was thrown out of the troubadour by a relative of the president of the United States. And of course, more about the sick psychology that drove Lennon's assassin to do the unthinkable, that and more, all in the Rewind episodes on John Lennon coming up in this weekend's disgraceland feed. Next, after this week's Disgraceland Rewind episode. coming up next Tuesday, our brand new episode on Happy Mondays. This story deals with possibly the wildest, craziest, most bat-shit, lunatic, insane nightlife scene that has ever existed.
Starting point is 00:13:10 Okay? This scene spawned a movement called Acid House. Acid House was invented and it gave birth to what would be the defining sound of England in the 1990s. Okay, we're bands like Oasis, bands like the Stone Roses, got their start. In the home of a drug, the changed music history. So listen to that Happy Monday's episode to get all that info, all right? And when you're listening to the new disgrace at Happy Monday's episode, be thinking about bands, be thinking about drugs,
Starting point is 00:13:36 be thinking about the wild music scenes that sprouted from that synergy, and give us a call at 617-90666-6638 and let us know what you think is the most hedonistic, transgressive, wild band band. of all time. Is it happy Mondays after you hear this episode? Are you going to walk away thinking, damn, I didn't know that. That band was fucking crazy. Or is it somebody else? Starting point is 00:14:18 Your answers to the last week's question of the week, your voicemails, your texts, your DMs, they're all coming up right after this. Betrayal Weekly is back with brand new stories. From threatening text messages disturbing a small Midwestern town. It was from an unknown number. Who else is getting these messages? Why did it start with us? To long cons and stolen identities. Who lies about being this sick?
Starting point is 00:14:54 This was the last time I ever believed a word she said. New voices, each with the courage to tell their own story. He said I had been kidnapped. Okay, just trying not normal. He was essentially on the run. Every family has secrets. The rug had been pulled from underneath me. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:15:18 It was right in front of my face, and I didn't even see it. Listen to Betrayal Weekly on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Starting point is 00:16:24 They even meet Queen Elizabeth. But the millionaire duo are concealing a dark past and dastardly intentions. From USG Audio, Blanchard House, and Exactly Right Media, this is Royal Swindle, premiering Thursday, July 23rd. Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, guys, you want to be a rock and roll star, then listen now, hear what I say. I'm in the phone booth.
Starting point is 00:17:04 It's the one across the hall. Disco, 617-906-6638. Last week's question of the week relative to our disgrace land episode, our Jim Morrison episode, was, how do you think that Jim Morrison died? Now, on this question, I'm going to turn to you guys on Instagram and some of our more passionate followers, more passionate followers of the Jim Morrison death saga, I should say, because, well, you know, the internet. It never disappoints. Unknown Assassin Seven writes, and, hey, he never died because of Harry. Heroin. Matter of fact, his closest friends said he never liked heroin. Jim Morrison was killed,
Starting point is 00:17:43 all caps. They feared he was uncontrollably wild, unexpected, and rebellious. And so was Jimmy Hendrix. He was killed by his own manager so he can own his music after his death. Speak the truth, all caps. Well, unknown assassin, seven, whoever you are, clearly, I don't think you're a disgrace land listener because you would know my thoughts on Jimmy Hendricks. And they align kind of with yours. can't be proven, but I'm kind of there with you on Hendricks. On Morrison, I think you're out of your mind. And yeah, get back to me. I'd love to continue this conversation. Scarlett 1M.B believes that Jim Morrison
Starting point is 00:18:19 disappeared off into the sunset, that he hated the rock star persona. More miles have been gotten out of this Jim Morrison hating the limelight theory than possibly anything in rock and roll. Archie Pointer thinks he was killed and doesn't exactly say why. And, um,
Starting point is 00:18:35 no evidence that he was killed none and i've heard people point to the fact that the CIA was involved they were not a lot of people buying into the merry and faithful of it all and uh you know i support that theory you know i do at disgrace land pod on instagram theoretically on x on facebook you want to talk more about it with me there or you can text 6179 0666638 you want to elevate this conversation you want to elevate the discourse i'm here for it okay text me email Mail me, 6179066638. Speaking to text, got some interesting texts from a bunch of you on last week's question the week regarding Wendy O. Williams and the most shocking thing that you guys have seen
Starting point is 00:19:18 a musician do on stage. 949 writes in, hey, most shocking thing that I've seen on stage. Well, I never saw G.G. Allen, but this is close. Sometime in the mid-1980s, the cramps were playing at the country club in Reseda, California. Now, you'd think the story would be about Lux Interior, wagging his stuff at the crowd, which he did, but no, this is about El Ducce from the mentors, who is on stage between bands. Now, I'm going to interject here into the text. For those of you you don't know, speaking to conspiracy theories, El Ducce, the dude, air quotes musician from the mentors who is supposedly the guy who Courtney Love hired to kill Kurt Covain. He's on record saying he's the guy, that he's paid like 50 grand to do it or something. You know how I feel about that. Anyways, back to the text. This is about El Ducche for the mentors, who was on stage between bands, maybe announcing
Starting point is 00:20:11 the cramps, maybe just being El Ducet and looking for a free beer. I don't recall. What I do recall is within seconds of El Ducay being on stage, his pants were at his ankles and his hand firmly grasping the microphone. And out of nowhere, a young lady hops up on stage and proceeds to filet. Okay. All right. You know, she does what she does to El Ducche.
Starting point is 00:20:30 El Ducche doesn't flinch right there in front of it. everybody keeps keeps his monologue going into the microphone yikes that is pretty shocking i you know i i i'm reading this uh for the first time here and uh i asked for it you know i clearly stopped saying the thing that he did you can read between the lines because you know this is a family show sort of uh i asked for this though so no fault to all y'all when you ask for the most shocking and you get responses about El Ducche being filleted on stage, well, you shouldn't be surprised as a podcast host, right? Same question.
Starting point is 00:21:11 Let's move over to the 425. Hey, Jake, Jules from the 425 and listening to your show about Wendy O. I saw the plasmatics in Southern California. Another Southern California thing here. In 1981, put on by KROQ, K Rock, the punk station. It was insane and super loud. And Wendy axed the shit out of an old TV. And it was everything we hoped for.
Starting point is 00:21:30 Thanks for the memories, Rock A Rolla. You got it, Jules. That was a little more PG. Appreciate that. If you can call Wendy O Williams, PG. 401 writes in, whoa, unexpected mention of the strokes in the Wendy O. Williams episode. I'm blanking. I'm blanking on the strokes being mentioned in the Wendy O. Williams episode,
Starting point is 00:21:52 but I'm reading this text because there's a new Strokes book coming out, and I'm excited about it. It's not all about the strokes. It's about the era, that era that's sort of like, post-grunge early aughts, New York era. This is kind of the same world as Meet Me in the Bathroom. This one's by Stephen Hayden. He's a great music journalist, and I'm stoked to check this out.
Starting point is 00:22:14 Once I read it, I will let you know if there's anything disgrace-landy in there for us. I'm sure there will be. And I'm sure some of you will read the book as well, and we can talk about it here. Speaking of books, speaking of reading, I should say, here in Jim Morrison week and disgrace, and something I didn't mention in this week's episode,
Starting point is 00:22:31 but I'm going to do here the after-party bonus episode was the origin of the Doors band name from an essay that I've never read. So this is kind of a reading recommendation, I guess, for myself anyways. Okay, were you guys aware that Jim Morrison took the name for his band, The Doors, from Algeus Huxley's essay,
Starting point is 00:22:50 The Doors of Perception, and that Huxley's title was inspired by his experimentation with Mescaline. Now, I knew this, one of those things I knew, but I've kind of forgotten about. This makes sense, given all that we've come to know about the lizard king. The Doors, of course, broke on through into the mainstream in 1967 with their self-titled debut album. I believe we're going to just take ourselves back here.
Starting point is 00:23:17 The doors were massive, huge, instantly almost, okay? And I believe part of the reason, part of their appeal anyways, was their name. The Doors. Think about it. The doors. What did it mean? The doors. it had to mean something else. Otherwise, why weren't they called the chairs or the tables?
Starting point is 00:23:35 The doors had mystique, intrigue. You can hear it in the opening notes of their first single, break on through, and you can see it on the cover of their first album. And to my point, you can feel it in their name, the doors. All this begs the question. Is a band name cool because of the name itself? Or does the coolness of the band make their band name cool? Either way, the doors are one of the greatest bands to every.
Starting point is 00:23:59 ever do it. And you can, of course, hear more about the band in the death of singer Jim Morrison in this week's full episode of disgrace. And don't go anywhere, guys. Can be right back after this with your emails and more. Betrayal Weekly is back with brand new stories from threatening text messages disturbing a small Midwestern town. Starting point is 00:27:22 Most hedonistic, wildest band of all time. 617-906-66-66-38. Call me. I'm getting lonely. It's summer. I know you're all out there hanging out outside, going to cookouts at the beach, watching the World Cup. How fucking awesome is the World Cup been, by the way?
Starting point is 00:27:42 I have been sucked into this thing in a way I completely did not expect. I wasn't planning on watching this at all. I've never been a soccer fan, really, only to the extent that I've had to learn about it because of the work we've done in sportsland. I've never, I mean, I guess I, you know, I watched Ted Lasso, that's about it. But I have been completely sucked into all these games,
Starting point is 00:28:05 not just the United States games, all these games. And I don't think I'm coming out, guys. I think I'm in the wormhole for good. I think I'm going to find a team to support. That's what they say, they say support. You guys knew that. I'm going to find a team, a Premier League team. And I don't know.
Starting point is 00:28:19 I guess, you know, messy, right? Like, I can root for Miami. Anyways, that's a big, big digression. Didn't want to talk about World Cup. But, hey, everyone I talked to is talking about the World Cup. If you want to talk about the World Cup, give me a call. Who do you root for?
Starting point is 00:28:32 617-90666-3638. Voicemail and text. Call me, leave me a voicemail about anything. Send me a text about anything you want. But most specifically, if you want to get in on this Happy Monday's conversation for next week's episode, which is a banger of an episode. Get at me. You might hear your voice here on the after party.
Starting point is 00:28:49 next week. All right. You can also email me, disgracelam pod at gmail.com. Like Mr. Jose Melendez. Now, I love this email. This comes from Jose Melendez and the subject is Hector Lvo. Laveau. Laveau. L-A-V-O-E. Yes, Levo. Hector Levoe, the voice, salsa singer. Hey, I'm a huge fan of both your podcasts. And I've been listening to you for a couple of years now. And I also wondered if you ever thought about covering a Hispanic musician. I'm a Puerto Rican who grew up with salsa music and have always been fascinated by the musicians that levitate that genre. One musician in particular, Hector Laveau, the voice, who is pretty much on the Mount Rushmore
Starting point is 00:29:33 of salsa musicians. You may have probably seen Mark Anthony's portrayal of Hector L. Cante. And although I think Mark Anthony did a great job, I feel that there was more that needed to be told. Hector lived a hard and tragic life, but he will always be remembered as El Cantante, the singer. Jose, thank you. I've never heard of this guy.
Starting point is 00:29:56 I have some vague recollection of a movie poster with Mark Anthony playing a singer, and that's probably what you're referring to here. And I'm very excited to get into this. Your claim that he lived a hard and tragic life, I'm guessing there's some transgression, There's some crime there. I'm guessing there will be a way in. Love the recommendation.
Starting point is 00:30:17 Can't thank you enough. Guys, you got artists you want covered in Disgraceland. Hit us up. That's where the Happy Mondays came from. That's where Wendy O. Williams came from. These are recommendations from you guys. Even Jim Morrison's death. All these stories came from you guys.
Starting point is 00:30:31 And they're coming right back at you. Right in the feed. That's how we do it here. Disgracelandpod at gmail.com. Get us your Rex. 617-906-66-38 voicemail and text. You want a surefire way to get my attention. You can do so on Patreon in the chat,
Starting point is 00:30:47 which is where I was last night asking the discos in the chat. If anybody had seen Sugar, have you guys seen Sugar? I love this show. I absolutely love this show. Colin Farrell, it's on Apple. A bunch of you have started it. Some have not. Some watched the first season.
Starting point is 00:31:02 Chris on it, this is for you. You're asking if it improves, you're saying that you weren't feeling it in the beginning. And I can tell you that this show gets fantastic. one of the best endings to any season that I've ever seen. Now it's a pretty controversial ending of season one. We're in season two now, just started.
Starting point is 00:31:19 That's why I'm asking about it. Zeth, not a fan. He was a fan of the show, and then he saw the ending, and he was like, I'm out. And that happens. I get it. There's still people who don't like the ending
Starting point is 00:31:28 to the Sopranos. I can't do anything for those people, though. I just, you know, they've got to live their lives. That's on them, not on me, okay? The same thing here. The ending of season one, I thought, was great. And season two is fantastic. It's modern noir.
Starting point is 00:31:42 It's a modern version, modern take on Raymond Chandler, kind of Philip Marlowe thing. But it is a little more fantastical than that. And it looks incredible.
