What on everybody?
Dysk DJJ.
What's going on?
Castiz.
I know what I wanted.
I want it now.
I want the Dysk Dijs.
Because I and Mr. Vane.
Mr. Vane, what the fuck is she talking about?
Now, from the title, it sounds like she's a heroin addict.
What?
And she just wants her vein.
That is an aggressive.
what you did?
No, not at all.
Mr. Vane, are you talking about veins like in your arms?
Yeah.
That's a V-E-I-N.
And what we have is a Mr. V-A-I-N, which is actually probably a much more prominent thing that we deal with in society.
Whereas, I don't know what, Mr. V-A-N is.
Somebody that does a lot of curls, and they're just like, yeah, check them out.
Oh, you see the belts.
Yeah, look at that.
What is V-A-I-N?
somebody that has great vanity that wants to look at themselves in the mirror a lot that wants to make sure that they look perfect in every picture that they take do you want me to pull up the definition no i just don't like the fact that this entire time in my life i thought she was talking about mr vain and yes i thought it was like man that was very vainy
have you is possibly okay wait a second talk to me on the low is this something you're doing just for the
podcast or something that you actually thought.
No, did.
I've never seen the name V-A-I-N.
I always thought it was V-E, whatever the fuck V-D is, Mr. V-A-D,
vainy guy, like it's like a superhero or some shit.
Well, then my next question has to be that, did you ever hear the term vain with the V-A-I-N?
No, I never thought of vanity whatsoever.
I'd never, never put that together.
But you've seen the word before, though.
I know vanity.
I know Vain.
I know what you mean.
You know what you mean.
I knew as you were describing it.
I was like, I know what he's talking about.
And he's right because according to the title, it says V-A-I-N.
I just never.
All right.
So, she says, call him Mr. Raider.
Call him Mr. Wrong.
Call him Mr. Vane.
So actually, I'm just not realizing that this is the girl speaking about the guy.
So no wonder it's called Mr. Vane because it's like her referencing the guy that she's into.
So, yeah, that this is all making sense.
I don't know what Mr. Raider is.
Like, what is he into the...
The Raider fan.
The Oakland Raiders?
Yeah, he's a raiders.
Is that a saying?
Or loved Indiana Jones.
Or it was the...
It was actually probably the L.A. Raiders at this time.
Call him Mr. Wrong.
Call him insane.
Which is like, now she's kind of throwing barbs out there.
And then she says, he'd say, I know what I want, and I want it now.
I want you.
Because I'm Mr. Vane.
which
See this is why I always thought it was a heroin addict
Talking about him wanting heroin
Because he wants
He knows what he wants
He wants it now
He wants you
The needle
I'm Mr. Vane
He's the Vane
Asking for the heroin
And it's just like
Now
I don't know what heroin is
It's way darker
I didn't realize that heroin
Actually put you to sleep
I always thought heroin
Did the opposite
And did what Coke does
Or crack
And hypes you up
So I always thought
You could
do drug like
do you do you need
like heroin
and vein and shit
but at this point
I'm starting to lose
my whole credibility
with the way I thought
this
no your credibility
was lost
when you thought the
spelling was referring
to the artery
in your arm
Call me Raynor
Call me wrong
wrong
insane
Call me missing up for a chance
He's down a
track
Who is this man
Can we look up
this guy's name
Who is Mr.
Vane
Call me Rayter
Call me wrong
Call me insane
Call me Mr. Vane
Call me what you like
Don't you call
you call it's a
call me down in again this man just gets into it and just
well it says it was written by j supreme j supreme
so maybe that was rocking with a supreme i don't know what he says but he
does not slow the song down whatsoever well you know it's funny it's like in the 90s
they always had that guy you didn't yeah you always had that guy for one that just like
came out of the track that did like everybody always remembers the parts of the songs that we
remember like the main thing they're like i know what i want and i'm mr bha and then like we remember the
beat but then they always filled out the rest of it by having some tough guy rapper come in and just
like hit you with the rhymes but like cold brady cool bro bum blah and uh then it doesn't matter
what they're saying at that point i was literally going over the lyrics as he was saying it i was like
every line from one to the next it's a general idea but like none of these things are a full
statement. As long as you call me time
and again feel the presence of the aura
of the man. I know I two
and I want it even more. Yeah he just
comes in, you didn't even have to know that phone.
He just comes in, lays whatever the fuck down
on beat, on point
and then he goes into the beat
like, real quick. Can we just say this beat?
The beat fucking slays.
Come on, man. Get out of here.
Get out of here. Like if you're
just having a crazy moment and you're just
I gotta get it. I got to get it. I got to
some energy. I got do-da-dur-d-do-do-d-d-d-da-da-da-da. It's just
whoever the fuck of Mr. Vane ends, he wants you to
fucking bring your energy.
This was the blueprint that I think
set up not only just like that kind of 90-0 pop
whole division, but like... What year was this song?
Oh, oh, 1993. I got it right here.
93. Yeah, and this is
super 93. Like, this actually does
take me back to 93. Like, I remember
being a kid and like being in my hip-hop class
and I remember this song
like just doing the running man to it
because yeah
I was in a hip-hop class back then
that's my upbringing justina
this song just kind of like
set in the stage for what then became
sort of what basically ended up
leading to that whole
the EDM vibe like that whole like
the high energy dance mix
like they came from this sort of like pop
like shuffling hip-hop
well eventually that was like what they were doing
with it but like this was like the
set off to what we still hear
today of like high energy
dance mix. What I'm amazed by
with songs like this from the 90s
is if this song was playing in the
club, right? I mean this song's
going to make you sweat.
Yeah, exactly. And there's 200
other people and if they're actually dancing
they're all sweating. Everybody is
now sweating because there's
no chance you're not and I'm always amazed
by watching different movies like
House Party, which way I should probably
dissect one of those or
At least the dance scene.
Or three things.
You've ever seen a house party?
What's the last time?
I actually don't think I've ever actually watched it.
It's a good one.
I've just watched the house parties.
The way they break it down and then living color, all the dancers are living colors.
The fly girls.
Fly girls.
They are using energy.
Like there's so much going into that dancing that I'm just astounded.
And by the way, I think I just threw you a nice couple videos.
Really?
because we're talking about the flag girls and shit
yeah the flag girls and the other dances
was the first thing I said
yeah but like we need to cap it off
something funny
something funny fine yeah
right out that was a good time
waka waka
we had to watch actual video
then like we had to understand
okay after this we're going to dissect
the scene from house party
and we're making a house party
and then we're going to make a video about
there we go.
Up next, I'm not at Sank Dijian.
By the way, if you have another type of 90s dance, like house party or the 90s fly girls,
uh, call in 6664-2-6.
That's the wrong number.
What are they even supposed to give at this point?
Just like to send a video of them doing it.
It's not the right number.
555-6-26-218-7.
Somebody's getting fucked with their call.
understand why she wants him to call him
Mr. Raider and Mr. Wrong. Why is she making him
want to call all these fucking things? Why call
him Raider? Why call him wrong?
Why call him Mr. Van? You're not
explaining yourself. All right, I got it. I think
I figured it out. Thank you. Please
enlighten me. So
enlighten me.
Her name is
Tania Evans. Could be Tanya Evans
but it's a... I think it's Tanya
Evans. I think what Tanya is saying is
you know when girls are like into a guy
and they're like, I'm really into him, but like, I'm trying to find all the reasons not to be.
I don't think I'm supposed to be in this guy.
I'm super physically attracted to him.
Something about his swag is driving me crazy.
But then a bunch of other girls are probably feeling this way, too.
So I can't just be like all about them.
So I have to start labeling them with stuff.
Call him Mr. Raider.
Call him Mr. Rang.
Call him Mr. Vane.
Call him insane.
She's calling him insane now
Just because she's
Conflicted with her feelings about like
Why am I so into this guy? I don't know
I can't figure it out but like he must be
Mr. Vane he must be
Insane
And I don't think that ever stopped from
1993 I think that's something that's still
Happened in this day so
Thanks for putting it into a beautiful
Lyrical Presence
Tenia and something we still is doing
How about you not calling Mr. Vane
How about you call him by his name?
What the hell is this guy's name?
Call him by his name.
Mr. Garcia.
Mr. Castle, which, by the way, Castle,
your name has always been epic.
That's an epic last name.
Are you fucking kidding?
It's better than Mr. Dane.
I can tell you it's better than Garcia.
Frikin Garcia, there's like 10,000 million of us,
and there's way too many of us.
There's illegal of us.
There's, I don't like it.
There comes this fucking guy again.
Ex and plenty.
Listen, there's a beat.
comes in for the last like, I think
32 count or something, just
whew, whew, whew, whew,
yeah,
that's the buildup.
And at the very end,
he goes,
that's what I'm saying.
That's what I'm saying.
This, like, forget what he's talking about.
Like,
he got, whatever the fuck,
nobody knows what he says.
Nobody knows what the fuck he says.
Listen to the backbeat.
This.
Cass is going to play it in the background
one more time.
It goes,
and you're like,
oh, and he's like,
he's talking about S-E-X and Phil.
And right when he talks about S-E-X,
somehow the song goes,
It has hits again.
It's...
Slavs so well.
That's what I mean.
This was the beginning of the entire techno, EDM, dance culture.
Like, this was the start of it when they realized, like...
Is it the start or in the middle of it?
I mean, this is the beginning of it, 93?
Like, yeah, this is like...
It's like if you think about...
I feel like one of the earlier songs is the Sweet Dreams, the Rhythmics.
Sweet dreams.
No, no, that's a good one.
That's a good one.
That's how I'm talking about...
Sweet dream is all made of me.
Like if you listen to that song, I think it's from May, like, 1983.
Okay, you're right.
It's like 1983.
That's an 80 song.
No, it's not that.
It's like an early 80 song.
And it comes in and hits that, that super technical.
It doesn't have a techno.
It has more of a house beat.
But if you're going to talk about techno, I feel like there's earlier track before this track that we're hitting.
I couldn't tell you what they are
Here's what I wanted to say about Mr. J. Supreme
That was the most narcissistic
First I've ever heard
Because I have no idea what he says right there
Girls all over the world
They help and pray and die for men like me
Because I'm the one begotten son
That breaks the mole
Get a look at male and pit of me
Style has never seen
That makes you want to grab and hold
And squeeze real tight
Who's gonna be the one to save you from yourself
You want him to take a bite
Please oh baby please
You gotta get some
Cut him in the charm out of ladies
This man is way too cocky for himself
Is that what you're telling me?
That's what I'm saying.
My goodness.
He's playing the role of Miservain.
And then he wants her to fill him up with S-E-X and plenty.
Is that the right last line there?
Do I have that correct?
That's exactly where it's gone.
Just another fish to pick the worm on the hook of my line.
Yeah, I keep many females longing for a chance to win my heart with S-E-X and plenty.
What a great combination of a gentle guitar along with a sick beat.
doesn't where the beat finds you. Let it find you. Right here. Turn it up. That's what she wants to call you.
You know what she wants. She wants it now.
Sir Vane. But that's actually what's confusing about this.
That is confusing. Do we do? I will tell you why. Because all this time, I've always heard this
song as just her saying that she's Mr. Vane. And I was always like, why is she calling herself Mr. Vain when she's a female voice?
and I'm looking at the lyrics,
and there's this very little subtle
right before the chorus starts
that says,
He'd say,
I know what I want,
and I want to know.
He'd say,
it says he'd say.
Real quick,
like real quick to the point
where you're supposed to think
what you always thought
your whole life,
but there's really a he's saying.
Yeah,
and I never knew it
until I read the lyrics.
To you dissected.
Until you dissected it today.
This is what I'm saying.
This is why we dissect, ladies and gentlemen, to find out, because I always wondered why she was Mr. Bain.
Basically, what I hear from the song is there's a woman who is enamored with men, and he is super into himself.
And no man would actually call himself Mr. Vane, okay?
So that's clearly a name that comes from the woman who's just like, like Jay Supreme is playing the role of the male voice through the mind of a woman.
that I'm looking at the lyrics. It's through the mind of a woman that wants to explain a man that
she is interested in, but she's skeptical of that. She's like, I don't know why I'm interested
in all these things about this guy, but I feel like everybody else is probably interested in him
too, so he must be Mr. Vane, Mr. Insane, Mr. Insane, Mr. Rader, Mr. Wrong, which I still
understand why is Mr. Rader. But like, then she has Jay Supreme come in, which, he must be Mr.
with his most chauvinistic, I'm the shit lines ever.
A legendary dance jam that is hidden in a,
take a stab at men that they're into,
but that they don't want to be into.
So that's where I read this one.
I like my original thought of the song.
That's all about it.
I'm kind of mad about the vanity thought,
even though you're right.
You wanted to be about the actual artery of a man's arm?
Yeah, I always thought this was their song about heroin.
You thought something was about heroin?
It was a raider.
He'd call him wrong for doing it.
He knows what he wants.
He wants his vein.
But you're clearly right.
Everything you're saying is correct.
Well, it doesn't really matter who's right or wrong.
The point is, it does.
It does.
We both have slaps to give, and we could give him.
So how many slaps do you give Mr. Vane?
What was that, four and three steps?
Did they read, they're right?
Four slaps.
Yeah.
Three snaps.
It's pretty good.
It's like right in the brink.
That feels like the ball is rolling around the room of a five slapper.
Which is kind of what this is.
Yeah.
You're right.
Yeah.
That's, I would, I would then have to agree and say,
yeah, it's close.
It's close to a five slapper, but I can't quite give it a five slapper.
It doesn't get to five.
I got to hold my standards up high.
But like, yeah, this song was like my favorite dance song when I was a kid.
in the 90s. As a kid growing up in the 90s, like, this is a song you just grew up with.
And you got to understand this. For those of you that are young these days and don't know
what it was like growing up in the kid in the 90s, a song like this, I couldn't just go play,
okay? It was the kind of thing where, like, randomly you're flipping through the radio stations
and you found it, you're like, ooh, that songs do. But you didn't want to, like, over jam to it
in the car with your family. He's kind of like low-key.
Like, listen to it and just kind of like, not going to override because I don't want to be made fun of, but like, this is my dream.
And then the song ended and the DJ came on at the end.
It was like, oh, yeah, that is.
Mr. Vang, blah, blah.
And then, like, you were like, I hope I hear that song again.
That was all we had.
That was the way music was back then.
They didn't even, like, tell us where we could find the CD.
And if you wanted the song that bad, you'd have to go by the CD.
That was how it worked.
But nowadays, if we want to just hear a dance.
dance jam like this and thank god it's like that now because i'd be over to i had to fucking spin a record
every time i hear a song i want to play but like this stands the test of time as like that 90s vibe
and it's set off the wave that i think leads to this day of what the entire dance music vibe is so
with that if you were to take out the i from the name of the title of the song call me mr van
then it would be a whole different title now this is like a song about minivans and selling
like, you know.
You ever get to a point in the episode
where he realized that we've talked
about everything that we have to talk about
and we absolutely
clearly have nothing else to say.
How about take out the A?
All right. This is VIN?
Vind number. Now this guy
he goes to every car
and knows all the Vind numbers of every
car.
Just say next.
Next!
