Starting point is 00:00:01 matter, just don't curse. Yo fellas, all ready to do this? Yeah, what's up, Dallas, man? What's up? Oh, we are back. Yeah, and it's about time. Yo, let's switch what up. D.combeckon.
Starting point is 00:00:16 Dachs. Dachsat Zat Zat Zat Zee. Oh, we are back, finally. Long overdue, as he was just saying. What's going on, everybody? It's DJ MC. Tick-ch-ch-ch-ch-a-d-d-d-long-do, long overdue, but now, Philly slamming. That-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-dha-d-d-d-jays. D-Jays in the building. It's good to talk to y'all again. And we've got a special one for you today. I've been wanting to do this one for a while. And it's time for, uh, it's time for, uh, to tell you guys what I have found.
Starting point is 00:01:20 found out about one of my favorite 90s R&B groups, Boys to Men. Boys, boys. And Katz, I don't know if you knew this, man, but they've had, obviously, you know, their albums in the 90s and early 2000s, but there was about, there's about 10 of their songs that they didn't want anybody to know
Starting point is 00:01:35 that are all actually connected. Oh, do we got a story to that? Remember, like, the Destiny's Child thing, where it's kind of connected, the bills and everything. I remember that back in the day? This is another one. We have a story to tell through their music in chronological order, not chronological.
Starting point is 00:01:48 I messed up with that word. I just wanted to sound good. but in a certain order here that I have for us, of which 11 songs create a story, and they wanted everybody to know, but they didn't want you to know unless you truly knew voice to mend. None of that made sense. No.
Starting point is 00:02:03 I don't know how they want everybody to know, but nobody knows, but they need you to know. I don't know, none of that. But I understood the spirit of it, and I'm with you, because we got a story to tell, featuring one of the most monstrous groups of the 90s. Really, the 90s, when you think of them, and you think of 90s hip-hop and R-B,
Starting point is 00:02:21 you cannot get around boys to men. They lived it. They influenced it. Oh, yeah. They crushed it. Every single aspect of the 90s and the entire sound of it really comes through. And I feel like this song right here manifests all of that.
Starting point is 00:02:35 It just comes in, even just as simple as that little like, go, go, yeah. Honestly, this song is 90s. Like, it defines 90s. Like, you want to put Motown. It's definitely top five. 90s sound as far as, you know,
Starting point is 00:02:49 What 90s sounded like? It is the 90s in a mason jar. Hop that open. You want to hear what the 90s sounded like. Boom. There it is. I'm trying to go back and see what, if anybody wants,
Starting point is 00:02:59 another example of the run we're about to do to tell a story right now. When we did the discography of Destiny's Shown, that is episode 49 if you want to go back in our catalog and check that out. And guess what? We got another story to tell it. This, the story of Boys to Man,
Starting point is 00:03:15 beginning with their 1991 classic Motown Philly, which really is the song that put them on the map. And it's really the intro track that is Boys to Men. Yeah. It introduces you to the members. It tells you their story. Literally the story of how they came to be and how they got signed. I feel like that comes later in the song.
Starting point is 00:03:36 I don't know where we get to that part. This is exactly where this is. And again, I've kind of developed his story, so I'm going to preach. And this is actually where the Boys to Men are single. They're out and about. They're loving their boys. They're like, dude, let's go. out, let's go hang out, let's go meet some ladies, let's dance, let's sing.
Starting point is 00:03:52 Dum-dum-dum-d-da, doom-da, da-da-ya-ya-ya-da. They want to just go out with the crew. Doing a little East Coast swing. But what happens when that happens sometimes? One of the guys, would happen. They find somebody. And they went there and you know what? Can I check you for a second there?
Starting point is 00:04:10 Sure. It's important to note that they're going out, right? Not too hard. Not too hard. which I feel like that is a good element to what Boys to Men bring to the table. They got a soft side to them, but this one comes in heart. You feel it. You hear it in chess.
Starting point is 00:04:28 This is a song that gets a dance for moving. And if I'm sitting down when it starts, I'm already on the dance floor by like the second stanza. Yeah. I don't even know. And also shout out to Always Sonny for having their episode where they're like we're singing. They're going to be singers of Boys to Men. Me too. Any time on?
Starting point is 00:04:43 Always Sunny. They had the Boys to Man episode. Do you remember that episode? No, but it makes sense because they're from Philadelphia. Oh, yeah, the whole episode is like... Oh, yes, I do. Yeah, yeah. Not too hard.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Not too hard. Not too soft. But yes, so they're about, they're meeting. But one of them, if not a couple of them, meet their love of their life. And it leads us to our second song. So again, first song, Motown, Philly, all the boys are out single. But one of them sees somebody. And what does he want to do?
Starting point is 00:05:06 He wants to serenate. He wants to meet the woman in the middle of the night and connect with her in the middle of the night. If that doesn't serenate your whole That's a perfect fade-out It almost feels like that was the whole song It was just like a singular You know What do you call it when somebody just sings like a little
Starting point is 00:06:10 Segment? Is that a stanza? Did I say that earlier? I'm just going to use this word stanza That's a good word I like the word actually I don't feel like looking it up right now But it feels about right
Starting point is 00:06:19 I'll go with it So he meets her Serenates her with her in the middle of the night, Sarah Nature with that song, and guess what? She falls in love with him. Right. So what's the next obvious thing that you need to do once you two fall in love?
Starting point is 00:06:30 Hang on. Hang on. You need to be able to, like, can I get in here and have a comment on anything? I forgot. I forgot that. Otherwise, this is going to be the dissect DJ while Castle just nods in the background. Gotcha. Yeah, yeah, hit it.
Starting point is 00:06:42 Here's what I preach about that. Okay. So I think everybody can relate to the time when, like, maybe you're in college and you have your crew and guys and girls alike. You have your squad that like we're all single. We all like to go out. We're having fun together. And it's like, uh-oh, Johnny's falling in love.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Oh, Stacey's got a man. You know, it's like that, and then it changes the dynamic a little bit. And then they're kind of like, yeah, I don't really want to go out. Me and Josh are going to hang out. And like, or me and Jessica, yeah, we're going to have like a little date night in and stuff. It happens. It happens to everybody in life. And when your friend is kind of like starting to like stray away from your going out,
Starting point is 00:07:22 nights and like spending time of their lady or their man. There's a couple ways you could handle that, right? You could hate on him. You'd be like, oh man, fuck that. He's all, they all dickwipped, he bussy whipped, whatever the fuck it is, you know? Whatever. So you could just get mad, or you could be there for him as a group. And you could back them up.
Starting point is 00:07:40 And you could be like, I got your back. You know what? We're going to sing. We see your lady and we respect this. We think she's a good girl for you, so we are there for you. And here we go. And here we go. If you have the voices like Castle, I clearly don't for this,
Starting point is 00:07:54 you serenate his woman with him. And that way in the background, you have him in the still. And he comes out, serenates her. And they're just backing him up. And they got his back. And they sing a glorious song in the still of the night. It's really got that kind of 50s vibe. It reminds me of like Greece, you know?
Starting point is 00:08:12 It sounds like a song that would be playing in the background in Greece when they like, if they like pull out grease lightning and like bring it to the top of the hill. hang out of like makeout point or something. Yeah, exactly. And then this is just playing in the radio in the background. So what happens after that then? After they serenate and she actually looks at them and says, you know what?
Starting point is 00:08:28 I do love you. What happens next, Castle? I assume then they fall in love? No. Well, yes, but. Then after that? When you fall in love, what do you do? A lot of ways you go with that.
Starting point is 00:08:40 I don't know. Where are we going with it? You make love. Oh, yeah. Fast forward. Why would you do that? We don't have enough time to get off the other way. Back forward.
Starting point is 00:09:02 Back up. Here it is. Okay, we got a little bit. We got it to go. We can't. We can't. We can't. We got too many songs to get through.
Starting point is 00:09:42 But you see the points after they fell in love. Oh, they got to make some love. How do you not fall in love while listen to that song? Imagine, like, you could be a sixth grader slow dancing with a girl that you just met five seconds ago. And then by the end of that song, you're going to be like, so should we just, like, go steady all summer and just see how it goes? You know, like, it just makes you just melt into, like, the entire emotion of love and what music brings out. And be like, you know what, this just feels right.
Starting point is 00:10:08 Let's just run with it. And he will not let go until she tells him to. Or until they go on an actual first date. And it's like, oh, we actually don't get along. We have no good conversation. You keep wanting to talk about your ex. True, because they didn't go on a date. He serenaded her in the middle of night and they went straight to lovemaking.
Starting point is 00:10:23 You took her to McDonald's. This is awkward. There's, like, a whole family of screaming kids next to you. And then you immediately realized, oh, it might have just been that boys to me. men song yeah speaking of that boys to men song I know you're saying that we got to like run through these but I cannot let us get through this song until you get to that last part when the back because I know your favorite thing about boys to men is when the background singers just take over and just like take the track next level
Starting point is 00:10:46 and I want to hear that part when he starts going ah you know as he comes right in off the other see a back finest DJ skilled there you go I feel like they're making love at that exact You have to be. I feel like they've got fully, like, he's holding her tight. People that are listening to this episode are making love right now, which is weird, because they were just chilling in the car and, like, on the freeway five seconds earlier. I think what, for me, and I think I know definitely for you what makes Boys to Men really works so well, is when they get to, like, that third verse of the song,
Starting point is 00:11:56 we should just induct the entire group of Boys to Men in the Third Verse Hall of Fame. It's a bit a while. It's been a while so I deducted anybody. But they always just, like, take it to the next level. What is it, Boys to Men and Ludacris or in the Third Verse? I mean, we've inducted a few. You know, I'd have to go back to the list. I think Stoop Dog was in there at a certain point.
Starting point is 00:12:12 True. Yeah, Riding Ridge was on a fringe. Boister Man has got to be in there. And do you know the members of Boist Man off the top of your head? I feel like we should give me a shout out of this point. Yeah, yeah, John, Greg. Sean, no, okay. Fernando and John again.
Starting point is 00:12:29 There's actually two Johns in that. It's weird. You'd think that they would differentiate them. But no, it's just John and John. They didn't even do John one and John two. John S or does it really makes sense. They wanted to keep him missing. No, he actually got Nathan Morris,
Starting point is 00:12:43 Wanyet Morris. I guess those guys got to be brothers, right? That's what that's good. And then Sean Stockman. I want to know which one is the one that really always crushes that last, you know, he's the same guy that comes in at the end of the road. The one that always just like takes it up here
Starting point is 00:12:59 and he's just the background singer that while everybody else kind of like keeps doing the chorus and he just like lets it go. That's my dude. I want to say it's one. Juanier because I think he's like the That's a good name. It's probably the best name out of all. Juanier, he's the only one year I've ever known.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Yeah. So shout out to Juanier and Nathan Morris. Hey, Mama Morris. She was pumping out on some singers, man. Yeah. Talent on that roster in the Morris fam. Okay, so at this point, we're making love.
Starting point is 00:13:27 We're making love because they've fallen in love. Yes. It makes sense. It progresses naturally. Now, do we always stay in that beautiful, make love purgatory? Yes, absolutely. Ideally. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5. What do we count it down to? This is then making some more love.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Injections fellas. Whoa. Did you say Mike? Yeah, so Mike is the lead singer. Which member is he? I'm looking at the weekend. Is there nobody? It only lists three, but I feel like I remember Boys Demand having four. So first, oh, you know what? Okay, I got it right here.
Starting point is 00:14:24 Mike was the deep voice. It says, Pat, well, obviously that was his voice. It says past members. That's the problem I'm looking at right now. Boys to Men Now was just three, but back in the day they had Michael McCreary and then also Mark Nelson at one point. So that was Mike. He was that deep voice that would come in and just be like, girl, you don't know how much you need to be, don't you? All those times you ran out with that other film.
Starting point is 00:14:44 Girl, I know about her. But yeah, that's a song of them in Making Love Still. Like they're... That was it. He's in it. Yeah, I mean, that's all you need to hear. The name of the song is Ugh
Starting point is 00:14:55 Ah So yeah It's weird that it began With a countdown Right? Yeah Like a high countdown But is that like
Starting point is 00:15:02 Injection fellas Okay So All right Not to play with any visuals Here that might be too much But can you just imagine Like
Starting point is 00:15:12 A guy Finishing the stroking No to not Stand in there Girls spread eagle Right And he's just like Moving a little closer
Starting point is 00:15:20 Ten Nine Eight seven Six See all's I was thinking that as the final, I was thinking that as the final pumps. Oh, okay, yeah, that makes sense. And then he says injection fellas.
Starting point is 00:15:30 Which is actually kind of more funny. Like, he's talking to his cub, like injection. If he's pumping every single time they count. What if they're in the room counting as he's doing it? And they're just, like, sitting there with, like, their candles. So they just keep, like, supporting him as a friend. Yeah, yeah, they're really supportive crew. That's how they become boys to men right there.
Starting point is 00:15:48 And he's just all point. How do we know that? How do we know he's going to become a man? We don't sit here and observe. Pump. We got to have his back. pump injection fellas and then he just goes for it.
Starting point is 00:15:58 So grody. So anyways, any time that people want to talk about music, I know you always get to do this whenever we talk about new songs, or the songs at this time. The history of music has always had stuff that mothers have been like, I think that's too much.
Starting point is 00:16:15 Should we change the city? I'm going to take this back to Kmart. I don't think we should be listening to this. Kmart, taking it back there. Okay. I mean, that's where you would have bought the CD back in 1991. That's true. Or Walmart or Tower Records.
Starting point is 00:16:29 So we've gotten to the point. His boys were out. He met a girl. His boys helped him sing to the girl. He had sex with the girl and had more sex with the girl while his guys count down his final pumps till injection. That's where we're at this story. Wait, how much funnier is it if he, as he, they're sitting there counting as he's saying like, right? And then he turns and looks to them and he's like, injection.
Starting point is 00:16:52 That's exactly what I'm visual. That's exactly what. that visual, man. So here's what happens in this story, Castle, right? This is this story. So what happens is as that injection happens, he didn't get consent. Oh my God, that made it so much
Starting point is 00:17:07 worse. Exactly. I made everything. Where are we going with the story? I want to tap out. No, you cannot. So tapping out. She got mad. She wasn't that, but she got mad. She's over. And this was the beginning of, like, them not communicating, because that should have been a Yeah, no shit.
Starting point is 00:17:23 why she should be communicating when he had the whole squad in the bedroom counting the motherfucker down as he's done consenting Juanye! No, that's why Mike got... Very angry with him. That's why Mike got kicked out of the group. That's why right there at that point.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Yeah, exactly. It was a trial that took place. That's exactly what happened. It got ugly. So... They brought in witnesses. Again, brought a bad energy. His ex-baby mama got on the stand.
Starting point is 00:17:53 After this session... Talk about how he ain't no good. He ain't been paying childsworth? I'm sorry, I know you're trying to. No, after this specific session, things went downhill. How far down now? Well, this thing started to... Oh, we're going downhill, man.
Starting point is 00:18:05 You know, like, what was once a full running river has since started to run dry. Mm-hmm. Yeah. You disrespect to her, and then, anyways. The whole squad watched you run a train. And they counted down We do know We do know
Starting point is 00:18:43 We do know why she's angry Okay Mike That's why you're out the fucking group That's why nobody likes you That's why nobody paid You're not in Vegas with them currently You fucked up You literally turned to the whole squad and said
Starting point is 00:18:56 Injection fellas I'm out right there At least one of the dudes Had to be like you know what I didn't know what I actually signed up for I was just going along Because I thought we were doing a whole Acapella thing
Starting point is 00:19:07 I'm out. I regret that countdown. I'm gonna just back. I'm a moonwalk my way out of this shit and best of luck with you, Michael. Don't even say I love you no more. Saying how we feel is no longer allowed. Well, you didn't say how you felt.
Starting point is 00:19:30 You just kind of did it and then communicate and you wonder why she's angry with you and ending the relationship and possibly might feel charges. This is possibly charges. It's a charge territory. It's a charge territory. So just be happy she's not doing that if she isn't.
Starting point is 00:19:45 I will say that during the slow dance segment, you did a much better job conveying your emotions and feelings in the I'll make love to you portion of the story. But the injection. The injection, it all just went awry real quick. There's a reason that that flowy river now runs. Drier than a dusty road in the middle of the New Mexico desert. You're supposed to let that I know because you want to hear the rest of the song I know but I know that that's the part that you always
Starting point is 00:20:58 What part? You mean this one? Yes It's got to be one of the top ten transitions Into the next verse of all time This one You're right, I really do love that one Yeah
Starting point is 00:21:32 One more time No No Nica's hit a tears Yeah Epic, absolutely epic You're right I see Justin sing all these songs
Starting point is 00:22:06 Justin's a huge fan of that song, by the way. I'm not going to let that pass without pointing that out. I love all these dogs, actually. He actually, fun fact, he revisited the spot of their legendary music video out in the desert. Where was it located? White Sands, New Mexico. Yeah. And I will be putting out a video of that soon whenever I have some time.
Starting point is 00:22:26 He wants me to just integrate and weave him into the video. Yeah, I'm going to be in the video. You're just going to see me and then... Well, we need to point this out because that's a legendary music video. We're not mostly discussing the music videos in this episode Because that music video specifically We're following the path The long road
Starting point is 00:22:42 Of the story of boys to men The dry road at this point It's very dry The river has run dry What did he say? He didn't understand why Don't do it, baby Saying how we feel is no longer allowed
Starting point is 00:22:55 Well, it was always allowed You were supposed to express And she expressed to you Not okay So shit's ending, bro So at that point, water runs dry. And with a good cause. It was running dry.
Starting point is 00:23:07 You know, now she's left. And what's the first thing you do? What's the first thing you do when somebody leaves? You say, please don't go. Please. Yeah. Don't go. Just throw Hail Mary out of them.
Starting point is 00:23:20 I'm sorry. Oh, Mike's back. I never meant to hurt you. He even apologized. So he wasn't, didn't mean to hurt her. Slowly, my eyes begin to see. We get to the main part of this song. Turn it around
Starting point is 00:23:49 And don't need to go Now Mike, what Mike has done is he's Apologized and then ask his crew, guys, I need you to, I need you to bring, do what you did in the room, but don't count down. I need you to like express to her, please don't go. Invest the way you can.
Starting point is 00:24:42 And let me tell you these guys. Handled it. They have his back. They literally, like, let me just say. One thing I'm learning about boys to men is like they are just there for each guy. They jump on the scene Motown, Philly. They're like, boom, we out.
Starting point is 00:24:57 We ready to party. Boom. One of them gets a girlfriend. They're like, all right, we hear you. Shoot up. Doodah. They sing back up singing for him. Then he's like, hey, guys, watch this.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Oh, you want us to do a countdown? He's like countdown. He's like countdown. He's count down for me. Seven. Six. Yeah. And then he blows it.
Starting point is 00:25:17 He blows it in front of him. He fucks up. dry and then what did he say guys i want her back i'm gonna apologize and then i want you guys just sing please don't go away from me no oh god yeah i would come back personally i mean i guess the whole countdown thing yeah that's that's that makes sense but i mean i respect the backing of the boyhood that boys to men share you know again maybe this is how they become boys two men because they're like hey we don't bicker we don't backstab whatever our boy does we got his back oh shit you did not you did not you did what you did well we counted down
Starting point is 00:26:02 I was there that's right I saw did she did you not get did you not find out that was okay Mike damn we were under the impression that she agreed to this whole thing that's why we were in the room why we were invited okay all right so don't go they sing it she comes back slightly she's like what, maybe this might work, but then things just don't work out. And Castle, they reach the end of that dry road. Uh-oh. I think I know what that sounds like. Natural, you belong to me.
Starting point is 00:27:31 I don't know what I'm going to do. I belong to me. I was actually going to request again as I did in the one earlier that we get to the actual part where he pulls that. What I just did? Yeah. And now I feel like... That was good enough.
Starting point is 00:28:03 He already did that, so, yeah. And it killed all our reason for doing it. But let's get back to the story. Before we do, I do want to point out that if you would like to hear us dissect that song and its completion, we have actually a full episode on that song, episode 57 in the archives. Go ahead and check it out. It's a good one, too, because this guy... We thoroughly dissected every aspect of that road and its ending.
Starting point is 00:28:27 And specifically Mike's breakdown where he claims that he knew his girl was walking her out on him and running around with that other fellow. He just doesn't care. He just didn't care. He just didn't care. Just don't care. And just continues singing to her and trying to get her back, even though. I call bullshit. Yeah. Anyways.
Starting point is 00:28:43 End of the road. They've reached it. And, yeah, I mean, self-explanatory. That dry road that was running dry has since reached its end. Generally, when the river runs dry, that becomes the end of the road. I don't see how much more. There's no fluorescence. There's no more nature.
Starting point is 00:29:00 There is no more fluidity. That shit is super dehydrated. You're dead. Yeah. You're just reaching. So what does Mike do? What does Mike do at this point? Mike gives it one more shot.
Starting point is 00:29:13 I know he keeps giving this shot. I feel like the last like five have been like, no, but he's like, just go back. All right, hey, I need back. I got an idea. I'm going to walk to her balcony. All right, y'all are going to do an a cappella set. and I'm going to tell her about how everything I did was wrong and everything she did was right.
Starting point is 00:29:31 But he does it. And then he does one last chance, Castle, and what did he do? He gets down on that knee. Oh, no. That is not the answer. Fast forward to our favorite part.
Starting point is 00:29:48 Into the next one. Yeah. I feel like I actually want to throw some of the lyrics out of that one because that is one of those songs that I've always like, you know, I sing to the tones to, but I never really know. what they're actually saying.
Starting point is 00:31:24 All right, so here we go. Can we go back to the days our love was strong? Can you tell me how a perfect love goes wrong? Sure. I would say revisit the whole ejection fiasco. A countdown injection. The countdown that led to the injection. I'm going to keep circling back to that.
Starting point is 00:31:40 That's where this all went wrong. According to the story that we spoke of, that is. That's exactly. It's uncomfortable part of the story. I don't want to keep going back to it, but you keep... He's wondering why the relationship ended. All your questions are,
Starting point is 00:31:53 easily answer. Sometimes you mess up one major time and you're done. Can somebody tell me how to get things back the way they used to be? Oh God, give me a reason. I'm down. I'm bended me. So that's his answer.
Starting point is 00:32:09 And you know what? This isn't that far from reality. I feel like there's a lot of people who they hit the end of the road of the relationship and they're like, fuck it. Cards on the table. Hail Mary. I'm getting down. I'm bending me. Also, let's like just go ahead and like I don't know let's bring a baby into this
Starting point is 00:32:25 fucking you know that sounds like a good idea right save everything is that the next it'll bring us closer together is that the next chapter no the next chapter is actually after that she's since gone she's done she and you and if you go back to the end of the road you come to find out that she was actually you know banging some other guy the whole time yeah that's what so episode 57 check it out yeah check it out well with that said so what happens after that this man is like the guy from swingers where after six years he still that he still wants What's the problem? Just bringing it up to his buddies as they walk around the golf course over and over again, you know.
Starting point is 00:32:57 And then telling them, aren't you glad to bring it up yet? I didn't bring her up today. I didn't know if you noticed. Yeah, didn't want to jinx it. Like talking to a pitcher in the middle of a no-hitter. Yeah. But yeah. So now what happens he has the four seasons of loveliness.
Starting point is 00:33:10 Yeah, I would think so. Oh. And the men that have since turned from boys to men, come in again and try to help Mike one more time, man. He's still got his back. I just got to say that song hits differently when you're sitting across from Jag, and he is lip-syncing the entire thing. But not, like, at you or even to the microphone. He's looking off into the corner over here.
Starting point is 00:34:43 And I said a couple times I actually had to peer over my shoulder and be like, what are you singing at? And it's just like my old skateboard. I don't know. If you were like, it was a corner of my garage. Invisioning the skateboard as a lost love. The love that got away. That's it.
Starting point is 00:34:57 Yeah, yeah. And as you can imagine, who's very theatrical with all of it. And it made this song hit just another level. So I apologize that none of you all got to visualize that in person, but it does make the song play just a little bit harder.
Starting point is 00:35:11 It hits the next level. That's just one of those songs. It's also one of the more underground, not so popular, boys to men songs, but I love that song. It's called four seasons. Four seasons of loneliness. I feel like we haven't actually given the name of any of these songs. They're usually pretty self-explanatory. They are. All the ones we've done.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Motown, Philly we did. We got much of that. But yeah, man, four scenes of loneliness. And also, as you heard, he tries to express that she's the one for him and everything's gone. One final, you know, try with his boys to get her back. Imagine he's, like, sitting on his bed by himself. Because now it's been some time. He's had four seasons.
Starting point is 00:35:42 He's had a full year of. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, four seasons of loneliness. That makes sense. All right. He's just sitting on his bed, right? And he's just staring at a blank wall.
Starting point is 00:35:50 And he just kind of singing the words that a home dude was singing. And then all the boys just, like, kind of come in collectively. And they all just start singing like. Oh, da-man-da-da-da-da-ha. How does that park go again? When they turns up. I don't know. I don't want to try it.
Starting point is 00:36:04 I only sound good when they sound good. When I get the car. Yeah, there you go. Whatever. And I need to bring it out of you. I mean, they were get it. Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:12 So here's a lonely fuck right now. Lonely fuck. Like, so. So what happens next? What do you think happens next? Straight up, Mikey from swingers at this point. Yeah, straight up. What do you think happens next?
Starting point is 00:36:23 Just give me like a random thought. I would, if I was his boy, I'd be like, you need to get back on the horse. You got to move on. you know, go find the next one. It feels good. Actually, that's Tony, Tony. It feels good.
Starting point is 00:36:35 It feels good. I was going to. But anyways, no. He is time to move on. However, what happens? We never named his significant other, and we don't need to, but what happens to her? Larissa. Okay, what happens to Larissa.
Starting point is 00:36:46 Is that a name? Sure. What happens to her? She probably moves on to somebody else, too. She dies. Oh, my God. Oh, my dark. I was not prepared for that.
Starting point is 00:37:46 Let's get to the good part. Oh, yeah. If he didn't have any, if he had a doubt at first, like, she didn't really die now. They just said it right there. That sounded like Mariah. That is Mariah. Oh, early 90s Mariah, too, right? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Oh, man. Early 90s Mariah when she came in with Boys to Men and she was like, always wearing like the same like black outfit all the time. That's crazy. With her like early hair. That's exactly what she was black outfit. Yeah, that was her look back then. But yes, man. So Mariah.
Starting point is 00:38:42 Fantasy Mariah, what did you call her name? Who was it? Larissa. Larissa. Mariah's voice. died she's singing as the as Larissa posthumous Larissa
Starting point is 00:38:53 Yes that's weird And she died man And it says right there What kind of path did you take us on? I can't believe Shining down on me from heaven I can't believe that we've gone Five songs past end of the road
Starting point is 00:39:06 And it's just gotten like darker and darker And like more and more depressing Oh did you think this was a happy story? Yeah I would think so Never ever did I ever say That this was the chronic law into order of this Or not the Chronicological Order of this or not the chronological,
Starting point is 00:39:18 but the order of this leads to a happy story. No, no, no, no, sir. I'm sorry. Obviously, she just died. I feel like we should have put in an advisory label this episode. What? And then after she does die, he realizes heaven, what happens? It's so hard to what?
Starting point is 00:39:34 Oh, yeah. To say goodbye. How do I say goodbye to what? Move to the back. And I'll take it. Do it that because they have Spotify. Anyway, yes. Spotify is fucking up, our fade-out game.
Starting point is 00:40:45 Fad-out game is killing it, but it's all good. You can do it back in or just make it down. It doesn't matter. In any case. Is that the greatest say-good-bye song in the history of music? That is the greatest say-good-bye. He's saying goodbye. I think it might be.
Starting point is 00:40:56 And it's so hard to imagine it's so hard to say goodbye. No, it's actually just really hard to imagine them singing or anybody singing or attempting to do that song without doing that, like, your piece move, you know, where you've got your ear. And your right hand is doing the, like, you know. The Mariah Carey, basically? I was going to say Christina Aguilera, like the whole hand vibe. Mariah definitely started that.
Starting point is 00:41:19 Yeah, they both did that. I don't know how that actually improves your vocals, but they both have great vocals, so I'll take the word for. Apparently helps. But yes, man, hard to say goodbye. Again, his boys have his back again to serenate, possibly at the funeral, which, again, the mom was probably hated. That's actually a great funeral song. It's playing at every funeral. If you somebody that...
Starting point is 00:41:39 Oh, I've DJed many of your funeral. What the fuck? Who DJs a funeral? Who gets a DJ for the funeral? A party. After they do the songs, then they want a party. They do like party songs around the grave and shit. It's fantastic, dude.
Starting point is 00:41:51 It's fantastic. It's a party. Celebrating life, man. You choose a different word. Celebrating life, man. It's a little less jovelin. I don't know. All right.
Starting point is 00:42:00 No, I mean, it's good. We should celebrate life. That song's going to make everybody cry. No, but you should celebrate. And then what happens? I've done this. Then you go to Motown, Philly. No, you say thank you.
Starting point is 00:42:09 They want to say thank you. A better way to say goodbye is to say thank you. Exactly as voice to men does. This is the best goodbye song. I think it's got to be top three. I'll do a Mount Rushmore at some point of goodbye songs. Make like a graphic about it. Possibly.
Starting point is 00:42:23 But even after saying that as a top goodbye song, they still, it'd be good to say thank you one last time. Yeah. I got to be honest. After listening to that song, although it could be that he was thanking her. It sounded like he was thanking his boy. boys for being there the whole time. Maybe he was thinking Jesus.
Starting point is 00:43:44 I think he was thinking his boys. He was like, all the time that I was messing up, you guys had my back. He was like, you guys don't know how much you made to me. Yeah, that was true. All those times things got rough. You never turned away. You was right there. He was talking to his boys on that one.
Starting point is 00:43:57 He was thinking his boys for having his back through with this crazy story where they were together. He met a girl. Fell in love. They were in the room. They counted down as he injected. Then the waters ran dry. And then he got on bending knees and tried to,
Starting point is 00:44:11 you know, say, please don't go. Finally, she left for her season. She dies. They sing for her to sorry. It's so hard to say goodbye. And he finally goes, you know what, guys? You guys were here for the meet through this whole thing. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:44:23 Maybe he was thanking his agent for taking this whole dark, sad story and turning it into a blockbuster album. You know, for like, set that album. This is all, this is many different albums. It's like several albums. Maybe he was thanking the cleaning staff for like their help cleaning up after the funeral. And like, they were just doing a bang up job. making it easier for everybody so they didn't have to worry about throwing their plastic cups away or their cocktail napkins and paper plates and keesh.
Starting point is 00:44:51 I mean, maybe he was thinking roast beef sandwiches. You know, we need those kind of, you know, you need some. I almost went real deep and morbid, but I didn't want to go there, so I'm going to hold back. But yes, then I said roast beef sandwiches. You said roasties down. You said I got hungry immediately and just lost my mind. But yeah, man, that is the story. That is the chronological, not chronological, because that's wrong thing to say.
Starting point is 00:45:08 But that is the story of boys to men songs from which. which they didn't want anybody to know, but they wanted the true fans. Boys to men. Discography. Discography. Discography. It's not as fun because Destiny's Child that had the alliteration going, so Boys to Men discography. It's, it still works, I guess. Yeah. Destiny's desegography. I see what you're saying. We did that the whole episode. The story of Boys to Men, of how these boys became men. That should be the name of the episode. except for it gets dark and sad. It's weird in the middle.
Starting point is 00:45:45 This is the story of Boystamint. Yeah, I don't know. There's a whole countdown addiction. All right, go ahead. Snap and clap? No. Snap and snap. Slap and snap my story of Boyce to Men's songs
Starting point is 00:45:59 and what you thought, and if you thought it connected and whatever. Give me your opinion. Through your snaps and snaps. First I'm going to... Slaps and snaps. You're going to like this part. I'm going to give Jag a shout out
Starting point is 00:46:10 for doing the research. on this one, put it together a story of boys to men, because it never really does that much work in the back end of these kind of setup. He just shows up and is like, what are we doing? I was big on this one. I thought about this one for a while. Yeah, yeah. Deep top put it in that.
Starting point is 00:46:24 And with that and mine, I will go with... That, that. So, I believe that was three slaps, a couple snaps, a du-da-da-da. an extended then fourth slap and then just a couple of like rain drops of snaps to like wash over that river that ran dry you know because that this is meant to have some moisture in it we need that shit flowing again you know that means life and let me just say I'm happy though we ended on a good note because the last like there was like a five second window there where it was just sadness upon sadness and then this dude just got
Starting point is 00:47:16 sadder and sadder and even though we were like clowner on it on him for some shit he had with his boys, counting down and everything. At a certain point, it's like, all right, dude, like, your depression is bringing me down now, and it's now making me depressed that your depression is affecting me actively. So can we, like, you know, let's just thank you, thank the wait staff,
Starting point is 00:47:36 thank your agent, thank your ex, thank your boys, thank your boys for having your back every step of the way. And he did. And it did, and it feels like now we're ready to go full circle. And now they'd be like, so what should we do next? And they go out again. Then we're running back. And then a full circle back into it.
Starting point is 00:47:58 Come on. All right, let me. What do they do? And then that part makes sense at this point now too because they didn't make sense. When did Boys and Men even come from? But now they're back at it again. Wait a minute. Not too hard
Starting point is 00:48:26 Not too soft Just the right amount Goldilocks would have befriended them Yeah Right out of your Right at the lukewarm middle Give a quick synopsis of the story We have a group of guys
Starting point is 00:48:39 Of which one of them meets a girl The girl likes him They start having sex Of which when they're having sex The group is in the room He then gets all cocky with it Injects it Seamint into her
Starting point is 00:48:50 Without her consent And then tries to get her back Of which doesn't get her back She goes out and then dies and it's hard for them to say goodbye. And then he says thank you to his boys for having his back. But as far as the story. Motown Philly's back again. Yeah, and then full circle and another friend falls in him.
Starting point is 00:49:11 But as far as the story, because the songs are five snaps. This is my group. I know all the songs, I'll karaoke, every one of these I'll kill them. So as far as the music, got to give five slaps for that and five snaps. It's going to be top hitter, pretty much every one of these. What are you doing telling me the slaps and not... Because it's not... Oh, you're holding up.
Starting point is 00:49:30 Okay. The story. I can't give it anything. That's a fucked up story, dude. What the fuck are you thinking, dude? What the fuck? You better get consent, you bitch. What fuck you doing, Mike?
Starting point is 00:49:43 Piece of shit. Why are you looking at me as you're saying on this? You just want to tell you that. This story gives and get shit. Although I'm going to give it for me because I put it together and was able to predict and find out exactly what they were talking about. But the actual story that he didn't get... Fuck, what the fuck are you doing, dude?
Starting point is 00:50:00 What the fuck is your problem? Why don't you talk to her and find out. First of all, I'll have your boys in the room counting down and shit, making it weird. I bet she wasn't even okay with that. And then you went and did that, dude, like, disrespectful. Like, the story gets at zero. He disrespected a woman and she didn't want to be with him anymore. And then I don't know where she dies.
Starting point is 00:50:18 I feel undercut by the fact that you want to be to go first. And I, of course, I'm slapping out the entire discography of boys' men because so many of those songs are beggars. I told you the story. I told you the story that I did that. I know. I was partially. giving credit to the fact that you put together this entire story by listening to all these songs he listened to all the time you're saying i set you up and i'm going to slap them out you
Starting point is 00:50:38 absolutely set me up oh man like cato caylin i don't know oh bad all right so do you want to change your thing or something you want this viandons is out i slapped it out i did like a whole da da da that i did like i rain snaps i described how the river and it's now no longer running dry i was poetic about it yeah i just feel like you then backstabbed me on the back end It made you silly. It's okay. It's all right.
Starting point is 00:51:02 Boys to Man. What are you going to do with your billion dollars? I'm going to go on vacation and think. What are you going to do with your billion dollars? I'm going to give it to charity. Oh, I... That's exactly what you just sent me up. I was going to do that.
Starting point is 00:51:15 Anyways, all right. Well, there it is, guys. The story that I found for you through all the music of Boys to Men, of all their favorite songs that you guys all know and turned it into a story, quite a morbid story, nonetheless, but still a story that you guys should all know about.
Starting point is 00:51:29 your favorite 90s R&B group. So there you are. Can I make one request before we head out on this one? I don't think that we've actually played it. We just keep referencing it. Can we hear that little acompel of sound by one more again before we bounce out on this track? Oh, we're talking about the... Next!
