Starting point is 00:00:00 Dicey DJ In the building So I live in a Shit Another one Another beach episode Welcome
Starting point is 00:00:44 to 2008 Steve And welcome To episode two of the Dice DJ's summer beach series coming live to you from the coast of Hermosa Beach, California. Oceans right there. DJ Jags right here. DJ Gassel's right here because with the DJs that liked us in it.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Big City. Throw it back. Throw it back. And dissect that bad boy. We're opening up our top five summer songs in 2008 with a memorable jam from Lil Wayne, who owned the hip-hop. industry in his pocket in 2008. Is there some talking like right behind me?
Starting point is 00:01:30 No, no, you just, there's just some fantastic microphones that we have that pick up everything. Everything. There's these dogs running around. You have puppies. Don't forget, guys, we're at the beach. So if you hear some random sounds, maybe some wind. Maybe some people talking behind us. That's the summer.
Starting point is 00:01:43 That's life. Seriously, who is the girl that's just talking? She's like, she's checking her dog. The dog decided to run off. They're like, oh, uh-oh. That's what, and they're running. And they're running away. They're running to the ocean.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Full speed. They found another dog. They found another dog. Everything's good. You know what we found, though. And we're safe. Those two are tied together. Anyways, Lollipop.
Starting point is 00:02:04 Crazy song. When I first heard it on the radio, actually, I was like, is he talking about his dick? This is what he's talking about his dick. It's called double entendre, Justin. I don't even know how to spell that, but I feel like I know what you mean by that. Mostly ease. All the vowels are ease. You'd be surprised by that.
Starting point is 00:02:19 Yeah, yeah. Even though it doesn't sound like it. I have a crazy, fantastic remix of this. Can we listen to this real quick? I can. Watch this. Turned up, turn it up, turn up. I actually hope it turned.
Starting point is 00:02:31 Watch the way this hits. Here we go. Oh, yeah. That song hits. Are we honest? You liked it, didn't you? I'll take it over the regular one. Yeah, I knew you would.
Starting point is 00:03:02 I knew. That song, something about that song, even though it hits so hard. It's like, I like it. I'll say this about the regular one. similar to how I felt about Big Pimp in last episode is like it's on a level above it I would say but the beat comes in nicely these dogs are running right up to us now
Starting point is 00:03:19 what's up boys why are they talking to? They're trying to go different directions would they even rise was that Major League two or three where they had the second basement of the shortstop tied together so that they wouldn't run into each other and they would snap what's up boys
Starting point is 00:03:31 they're gonna get tied up oh they're gonna end up they're gonna take down the hole they're gonna take down the hole rearrange all right let me just describe what just happened two dogs are tied together on a leash they ran them to us and then at the corner of the canopy they both try to take different angles and you think oh 360s got it 360s camera's dope back to Lil Wayne that bass comes in tough huh yeah my mic my mic's
Starting point is 00:04:24 Why is it over there? How did that happen? Oh, because you got chased on. Mike's getting crazy. All right, so Lil Wayne, he had the game in a chokehold in 2008. I feel like that was when he was running it. This is like the peak of it. He had the Carter.
Starting point is 00:04:36 He had a bunch of albums of the Carter, the Carter 2, the Carter 3. Whichever one was right around here was when he was really like on top of it. Yeah. And I think this actually ended up probably being his biggest hit from it. But I don't feel like it was for me personally as best. But we have to throw it in to kick off 2008, which was a, Fantastic year. Did you see that bird just dive bomb?
Starting point is 00:04:57 They do that. You miss that? No, they do that, though. They do straight kettle. I actually take my paddle board out here sometimes, and, like, those pelicans will straight dive into the water, and for a second, you'll think you're like, am I getting attacked? Like, what is happening?
Starting point is 00:05:09 And then there's just being one shaking it off. The Seashore Academy. The Seashore Academy. The way where, uh, wait, is that your hat? That's my hat. Yeah. I just figured this is the only time I'd ever wear this hat because I got it from a school ran.
Starting point is 00:05:19 That hat is absolutely a hat that gets handed out to you when you, like, do an event somewhere. Yeah. They're just like, here you go. It's got the little rope that random. Anytime they have that, like, rope thing in the front. Yeah, it's a terrible. I've never understood why. I don't know why I had it in my thing, but I looked at it when I was going through for our beach episode.
Starting point is 00:05:34 I was like, actually, that works. In what era was the little rope string thing at the front of the hat ever, like, a look that people were like, you know? Apparently it was something, man. Apparently it was something. The only time I've ever seen it rocked is, like, when those, like, hipster kids, when I was, like, high school would, like, wear them. And it would, like, say something ridiculous on it. It would be, like. Always extreme those people.
Starting point is 00:05:52 It would be, like, pull, guys. class at 1984, you know, some kind of ironic shit like that. But yeah, a little way, and he had the game and a choga, the way we're bouncing back and forth between discussing Beach Matters and hip hop of 2008. This is exactly what the Dysak D.Js they're here for. 2008, what are your memories? 2008, so that's the market crash. That's us great.
Starting point is 00:06:11 That's the first thing you go to? That's graduating. That's graduating college. I was, I still had a little bit to go, but 2008 was, for me, I'd say, yeah, that was like peak college era. That was like when shit was just absolute. No, yeah, that was the end of my college career, man. That was, that was, uh, so life for me, college for us was, was nothing but a up experience, if that makes sense.
Starting point is 00:06:33 It was just a positive. Just got better and better. It was good. And all the way until the end of college, I was like, what just happened? Life can't get no better. And it didn't. And it slapped the fuck out of me right out. That's right after that's when I got into a bunch of trouble.
Starting point is 00:06:44 So that's, 2008 was the peak. 2008 was basically my peak. Everything was going great. We were working hard. Not life, but just at that tone of my life. You know what I mean? I just felt like everything going on in 2008 is like a great memory, especially right around that like spring break to summer era. And that's why a lot of these songs are going to remind me of that.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Okay. And yeah, lollipops right in there, but that was number five. Let's move on to number four of the top five countdown of the summer of 2008. Take us back to Stino. Natasha, sing it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Come on. Let's get to it.
Starting point is 00:07:38 I want to hear her say the main part. was the main part. No way! That song... That was our variety choice of the top five this time. That song feels like, it reminds me of like an MTV ad at the time. Okay. Like if they were promoting like a show or like a commercial, some sort of pharmaceutical drug
Starting point is 00:08:12 that's supposed to like make you feel better. There's like somebody like running into the like of meadow, luscious green with like the sun shining. They'll see that. And they'll be like, you're feeling thoughts of dangering yourself or to. impression or not wanting to get up in the morning, you should take this pill. And now the rest of the commercial is going to be all these side effects. That does remind me at 2000. I will say it does stamp the period of like 2008 for me.
Starting point is 00:08:35 It does definitely feel like that. So one of the things that you did in the last episode and our top five songs, Summer Beach series, our top five 2000 summer songs, you were able to remix Gilligan's Island with DeBrett and Tyrese, what you want. Which came out super dope. It came out together, and I was so impressed by it that I thought, let's run it back. And I want to see if your DJ skills can match up to what we just did the last episode. And because Gilligan's Island is the epitome of summer fun for the past 50 years,
Starting point is 00:09:11 I want to see if you can do it again? So can you take that Natasha Bettingfield song and I'll remix it with Gilligan's Island? Let me hear that. Let me do my absolute best. Here we go. Try it out. I tried to, Castle, and it did. didn't come in.
Starting point is 00:10:03 That's what the problem. Wait a minute. I tried to, I know, I know. Trust me, DJ me, wanted that fucking vocals to come in right there. It didn't happen. He was all laid out on a player for you. You get the point, man. I can mix Gilligan's Island with pretty much.
Starting point is 00:10:22 I feel like Natasha. Natasha Beddingfield, I feel like, is one of those people that just exist within like a two to three year span. Like 2006 to 2008 and then like outside of that, nobody ever knew who she was or what happened to her? I mean, you're absolutely right. I know I haven't heard from her since She hasn't come in any remixes
Starting point is 00:10:42 I haven't seen her like come back You know who came back was Nelly Fretado Came back recently Yeah, but she did a little She did a little thing She's like, I'm retired now But I want to do one more run She did one more run
Starting point is 00:10:52 But Natasha was like fuck that I did my run Years ago, I am now in Utah Raising Family Probably But you know what I bet you she's still touring Because as we mentioned
Starting point is 00:11:01 In the last episode All you need is a couple of songs That people will get excited for And you can just tour forever It doesn't need to be left to just a three-hour tour, which brings me to this. We brought up Gilligan's Island on back-to-back
Starting point is 00:11:16 Summer Beach Series episodes, as we should. Did you know that Gilligan's Island only ran for like three seasons? I did not. I thought it fully ran for 20. It feels like it did, because syndication will do that. It just ran through our childhood. It was always on on like a Saturday afternoon.
Starting point is 00:11:32 It would just play reruns all the time. And because of that, it would come on like right after like I Love Lucy. I'm like a block of just throwbacks. And because of that, we've all seen these episodes over and over again. You just remember being it on. So because we've actually all seen Gilgan's Island, I got a question that the real ones all want to know when it comes to Gilgans Island. Ginger or Marianne, who you roll with?
Starting point is 00:11:59 I mean, I don't know why you're doing. I'm going with the Millionaire's wife myself. I mean. They didn't even give her a name. Actually, they did. It was like Mr. and Mrs. Howell, I think it was. Oh, good call.
Starting point is 00:12:10 I was about to say something earlier. Damn, you did watch Gilligan's eye. And you didn't watch shit. Like, every time I tried to talk about throwback shows with Justin, he's like, I don't know. I didn't watch music videos. I know. He was watching Gilgan's Island, and he knew Mr. and Mrs. House. I mean, okay, just going back to the question, I always, and even as a kid, I knew, like, oh, I'm supposed to like Mary Ann because she's cute and precious.
Starting point is 00:12:33 Give me the movie star all day every day since I was five. Dude, I was like, dude. since you were five. I don't even care. Give me. A movie style. She did that. And then when they did that, she would be like,
Starting point is 00:12:43 like her pitch, the video of her was like, oh yeah, yeah. Like, whatever, she was like above her, ahead of her time for what that,
Starting point is 00:12:50 you know, anyways. So when I was a kid that kind of, yeah, her like oozing sex appeal with that, like she's the only one. Everybody else is in. It's in,
Starting point is 00:12:58 it's in, it's in, it's, it did nothing for me when I watched it as a kid. I was just like, dude, she's,
Starting point is 00:13:01 she's trying too hard. I'm not feeling it. She's always been wearing her glamorous dresses. I'd be like... That's all she had, dude. Yeah. I know. Why did she bring a full wardrobe of glamorous dresses on a three-hour tour to an island?
Starting point is 00:13:13 Was that ever answered? Is there an episode where that was discussed? Gilligan had to wear the same stupid-as red long-sleeved shirt. Skipper had one shirt. Why did they have anything packed for a three-hour tour? The professor had one shirt and it always looked clean. He had a white shirt that never had a stain on it. And they were there for like what felt like four years.
Starting point is 00:13:33 Ginger shows up. She got a new glamorous dress every day and probably a new set of heels. I don't know. I wasn't watching at that time. But the fact is, I always felt like as a kid I'd watch it. Oh, you were watching. You were just like, yeah, she's a lot. She's a little much.
Starting point is 00:13:45 You know who I'm vibing with? Marianne over there where their cute little Daisy Dukes and her little shirt tied up, hair and pig tails and stuff. So I used always ride with Marianne. But then I actually saw an episode for the first time a couple years ago, and I was like, oh, yeah, Ginger was bad. You're bad. You're right.
Starting point is 00:14:02 Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. As I got older in life, I think maybe with maturity, I was like, I'll go with the movie star. All right, well, you're in 1970s at this point. Let's bring it back to 2008. Let's get back to 2008.
Starting point is 00:14:15 A great year for dissect DJs and a great year for music. Let's go to the number three jam of 2008 summer edition. Just a number one champion sound. Yeah, Estelle, we're about to get down. Get down. Who the hottest in the world right now. Just touch down in London town. Bet they give me a pound.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Tell him put the money in my hand right now Set up a promoter, we need more seats We just sold out all the floor seats Take me on a trip I'd like to go someday Take me to you Come pick it with you Come boy That is a stelle
Starting point is 00:14:59 And Kanye West I still used that American boy Still plays Not dinner, not dancing But just for dinner It's a good dinner song Yeah kind of cocktails
Starting point is 00:15:10 Perfect song for all that Perfect jam We were talking just a moment ago about how Lil Wayne had the game in a chokehold. We got to 2008. Kanye was coming. Right around this area was when Kanye was like, I got it. He came to Fortune like a year before that.
Starting point is 00:15:25 He randomly, a guy show walked it in the house. It was like, uh, Kanye was playing in the school. And I was like, what? Let's fucking get over there. He was like a surprise appearance. He had like one of his protégés like on the show. And he just showed up as like a surprise appearance. So then I was like, fortunately, I live a quick ride from the school.
Starting point is 00:15:41 We got right over there. You saw it? Yeah, saw it. Oh, I missed that. I missed that here. I threw up the rock at him. He probably pointed, he was, like, wearing, like, a pink polo. This was back when it was cool to, like, say what up to Kanye.
Starting point is 00:15:52 Oh, the pink? 2008, Kanye. You see what I did with that? Oh, yeah, yeah. You had a shirt just like this, except for it was, like, a little bit more preppy because he was really trying to push that preppy look right now. Meanwhile, Estelle never saw her again. I don't know what happened.
Starting point is 00:16:06 I'm sure she... She had some jazz stuff. That was more about. She went more, like, this was her pop time, and then she went more jazz. Very prominent jazz artist in the early two, thousand tens but I don't know you're right the last five 10 years I'm not sure what she's got into so yeah she's still probably doing it and you know what she you know what it would suck actually if like your biggest hit was tied to Kanye so like if she wants to perform this ever
Starting point is 00:16:29 now it's like all Kanye have and yeah and they would literally just have to play his rap on like the speaker because like you're not getting some random guy to do it and he's like imagine after to rely on Kanye to show up to your shows to like perform his shit he won't ever and wear those stupid shoes and he would then hijack the show and be like, no, but let me talk some real shit real quick. I got some shit to say. And then he would like just fucking spend the next 20 to 30 minutes just blathering on about whatever the fuck just came to his head a half a second before.
Starting point is 00:17:00 It wouldn't be fun. Not as fun as it was in 2008, which we're going back to. And love the era that I love to remember. If all the years that we're going back to so far, 2008, my favorite to do so. So let's keep the wheel train running through the summer of 2008. What else were we listening to? Let's get number two. That you need to stop.
Starting point is 00:18:03 That is what I'm talking about. Yeah. Kobe Adonis, what you got? That is one of those songs that absolutely takes me to my favorite parts of my favorite year. It's 2008 right there. That's just a jam. I'll tell you this. I give that song a five-slapper right now.
Starting point is 00:18:21 No shit. Yeah, there's something unique about that song in the time. Like you said, 2008 when it came out. It fit all the different pop of what that time was. was Acon was on fire at this time. Colby was just, something about that song specifically, you're right. It's a jam. It's a jam. It's a jam for life. As far as the lyrics go.
Starting point is 00:18:38 Whatever happened to Kobe O'Donis, though? I don't know. Fuck Kobe O'Donnas. Why do we got to hate on him? He made that jam. I don't know. I haven't said fuck in a long time. Yeah. Well, let's say fuck on you. Yeah, fuck Kobe O'Donis, dude. I'll sell a rock with him. I'm sure he's doing good things. He made that song. I rode with that song hard in 2008.
Starting point is 00:18:55 And one of the things I loved about it, it's a beautiful blend of both calling out a girl for being like the most beautiful girl in sight, but also being like, hey, checker, it is. Yeah, you can hang with us. Just don't talk too much, you know. He's checker. He's not, he's not simping. Sounds a little disrespectful. I know, but he's not simping. He's not like, oh, my God, I'll do anything to be with you.
Starting point is 00:19:17 You're the most beautiful. He's like, everybody's head shaking left to touch. And that's how he ends up pulling it. And he's just because, like, girl, you know that you need to stop. And then he's like, but seriously, stop. Like, you're doing a lot of this. I know a lot of people in life haven't told you, hey, you know what?
Starting point is 00:19:31 You spent a lot of time talking because nobody's ever told you, like, that your stories aren't funny and they go too long. You could hang with us. Just, you know, just chill. Let's minimize that. Let's work on, like, bringing down the words per minute, just a little, shh. Girl, you know that you need to stop.
Starting point is 00:19:50 That's why I love that song. And it's like, yeah, it just sounds good. That's a good number two. But I think it's time now. get to some O-L-I-Ls, baby. I know Justin has, like, dyslexia when it comes to, like, saying O-L-I's, and he spells oil every time. Outside Looking In.
Starting point is 00:20:06 All right. First, outside looking in, before we get to the number one song of the summer 2008, what do we got? This is a Jag and Castle favorite. Let's go. Honestly, it wasn't all that popular of a song. You didn't really hear it that much. But my goodness, when we hear it in our house.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Jam. Oh, my goodness. We used to have it going. Janet, where you at? We'll make everything The smoothest of smooth jams He's a smooth operator, folks And you know what?
Starting point is 00:21:28 That was post-titty. Still making jams. I was a little bit of still putting it out there. That song totally takes me back to the spring break 2008, which obviously scholars maintain That might be the best year of spring break And the history of spring breaks. Scholars maintain.
Starting point is 00:21:43 Yeah. And I remember this song being Like our going back to the hotel when we were in Mexico. At the Oceana on SWAT. We would listen to this song and we would all party to it. It was just a vibe session. Then I would be like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:58 So I always remember it for that because I actually discovered it that week. It was like, and there's nothing quite like when you're like about to go to spring break or like a trip or like a summer vacation or something. And you learn about a song like right before you go. And then like put it on the list. And then it immediately. Oh, really, throws us, toss us in the playlist. and then when you get the ox, you're like, wait, I got a new one. And then it just becomes your song of the vacay.
Starting point is 00:22:22 It was summer. I remember that. That's what that felt like. We had a full playlist of like five, seven songs. I made a mix. Sexy can I, I think was on that. I made a CD mix that, as always. And I brought the radio.
Starting point is 00:22:34 He brought his whole entire speaker set up. And I had him playing on the bus, my CD playing on the bus to do it from. So we were all. And we played from our room and down to the pool. Oh, yeah. We had the speaker playing down to the, yeah. Because they didn't have music. Because back then, they probably did have them, but we just didn't have them.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Like the little speaker that looks like an oatmeal can. You literally just brought your whole stereo system. Those old stereos that you'd buy at Target, you know. With the two giant speakers and like weird designs. Yeah, blasted those and it was good time. Giant rectangular activity. All right, so that's one out. What's the next OLA?
Starting point is 00:23:05 Let's keep it going. Let it get to the wrap. Let it get to the wrap. You want to hear the rap? I do. I want to hear at least the first part of it. Cardo, get it. But only take that mission to the word crushes to the chin.
Starting point is 00:23:53 I can't notice, but you know to this. But you know, they're noticing me. Is that an Acon again? Acon, nonstop in 2008, dude. Acon, 2008. He was all over the place. And I got to say, that was cardinal official. Aikon was excessive in 2008.
Starting point is 00:24:10 Yeah. I mean, that was like the time to get him as a hood. Like we've had these people in the past, like him, T. T. Paint, Nate Dog, where it's just like, you get them on the hook. That was about that time. Yeah. Bo rap. in a package for you and cardinal official that song comes in i love the way the beat comes in
Starting point is 00:24:26 but his rap that first verse just fucking i love it he hits every line he sounded like it was a unique way of rap i expected to hear a lot more cardinal official over the years after that but you didn't i don't know that's one thing about 2008 a bunch of one hitters what's with it cobia donna's estelle cardinal official i was expecting natasha bettingfield we were thinking this is going to be the new faces of music going forward and we never saw any of them again. They all just said fuck that. That's why 2008 lives as a great time in many people's brains, especially all them. All right, we got one more O-L-I.
Starting point is 00:25:00 One more. O-I-L hit it. Fucking. David Banner. He liked him. Was he a one here or he had some other ones, right? No, he was around for a while. I figured.
Starting point is 00:25:38 Yeah, he had that, he was a Mississippi hip hop. He came from that seat. That's what it was. And, yeah, he was around for a minute. But I think that one, that one's up there as the biggest point. But, like, yeah, so he was around. Also, when you got him angry, he turned into the Incredible Hulk. A lot of people didn't even know that.
Starting point is 00:25:53 I did not know that. I think that was just because he's being, maybe that was Bruce Banner. I feel like in some outlets, David Banner turns in the Incredible Hulk and others, it's Bruce Banner. It depends which God, you read. But either. way, man, 2008 hip hop, he just had it going on. Maybe the last
Starting point is 00:26:07 reminences of when hip hop was actually like pulling their weight in the music game. We didn't have many more years of it, Justin. And it's sad, it makes me sad. You're right. You're right, because the 2010s were on their way and music was about to. And hip hop was just like, I'm going to chill back here. Yeah, you know what? I'll meet my original beats.
Starting point is 00:26:24 And dope flows like Cardinal Fisiel brings, which is going to be replaced by a bunch of... We quit. Now, we are on our number one, 2008, James. This Castle specifically focused on this one and I had to agree because I remember this song coming out while we were clubbing in 2008 and I remember being like I want to do that That sounds like fun did you feel the same do you when you heard this or were like yeah right it's a concept that we all imagined how could we make this so yeah want to know what that means rock number one
Starting point is 00:26:58 I do it for the ladies But I gotta keep a hood What about you at, Paulo? Hey! I see you on You're right We just get started Yeah
Starting point is 00:27:16 Yeah, yeah He basically wants to have sex in the club Yeah That's essentially what he wants to do, right? Yeah I think we all care where He doesn't, he's just pulling it out On the middle of the dance floor
Starting point is 00:28:27 While they're freaking, he's like I'm gonna slip it in And he's like, I got a sun dress on. I got to say, do it. You know what I mean? It got weird. It can get weird quick. And times that you've been on the dance floor or something in a club and you and your partner are like dancing extra close, have we not all thought that a little bit at one point?
Starting point is 00:28:45 Like, you know, it would be cool right now. The only problem is like once it actually started, it's like immediately an awkward thing. It could get out of hand real quick. It would be like, all right, what the fuck? Security, some big security guards immediately going to grab you. Be like, all right, no, y'all got to go. It becomes not cool and not the Usher fantasy that he, you know, paint it up in this song.
Starting point is 00:29:04 It can get awkward quick. Yeah, it would. But there'd be like eight seconds there. Like, holy shit, dude. This is what Usher was dreaming of it. This is what he was singing about. I have a cousin that actually did this. Like, you could always say. I actually did this too.
Starting point is 00:29:16 And I was super proud of him. I was like, so this day I look up to him like, I'm proud of you, cousin. That's what I mean. As long as you got at least eight seconds worth, you're like, I made that happen. Did it? Did I at least. Now, it's not loving the club, though, right? Because love, I think of love like, it all.
Starting point is 00:29:27 Well, this is like, he's banging in the club. He's slamminged out. You're like, kind of, well, don't know if it gets, like, the wall right next to, like, the bathroom where there's a line. Yeah, if you took away, like, the dope beat and, like, actually, like, just had, like, normal ambiance of the sound of a club. Sounds way different. Not nearly as romantic as Usher's making it out to be. Quickly ends in, like, a bad scene. Security guard, like, aggressively grabs you and throws you out.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Possibly, like, police giving you, like. Possibly getting arrested. Possibly ended up in jail. Depending on, like, how much they want to pursue you. after throwing you out of the club. I don't know. But for those eight seconds, this shit was magic.
Starting point is 00:30:03 Had a fantastic time. And I remember this song specifically from that spring break trip. We were in Papa's a beer and that's one of those like outside clubs who had like the sand and they had like a staircase. Oh yeah, I remember that.
Starting point is 00:30:13 And it started raining. It wasn't aggressive rain. It was like a light rain. It was like a light. Perfect for that song. It felt like and that song started playing and it felt like the almost like an effect the club put on it.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Like what if we added a little. Did I get a shout to that DJ for playing that song at that exact moment. He was like, oh, you know what we'll make all of these? Everybody will remember this night and this club? Oh, played it perfectly. All right, but that actually reminds me. I feel like there's no better time as we're talking about spring break 2008. Can we discuss for a quick second about how on that exact night the Ying Yang Twins kind of ruined the whole fucking night?
Starting point is 00:30:51 The Ying Yang Tins were the worst performance I've ever seen to this day in my life. It was the worst. Thank you. The Ying-Yang-tins kind of rude the night. And I'll say it was saved at that moment once that Usher song came on. Like, it brought it back. But they brought the Ying-yang twins as like the special guest performers. And it's like, when you're at a club like that for like spring break, it's like, all right, that's cool.
Starting point is 00:31:12 Like whatever. Yeah, like I'm not like a huge Ying-yang fans. But like, yeah, if they put on a cool live show, like, all right, let's do it. These fools decided that rather than like singing or performing any of their. songs. They would do 10 seconds of their song. And then they would go. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. They thought that we all were there to listen to them
Starting point is 00:31:39 Make that fucking sound We all quit after 20 minutes We're like, what the fuck is going on? And like with the way the speakers were It's like nobody can hear a single word you're saying Like we don't know what you're saying Just fucking like just put can you play a song please And we would all like everybody in the dance story
Starting point is 00:31:52 Just be sitting there waiting like You guys And then you hear a And then it'd be like All right throw it on Hold up. Stop that, stop that, stop that. And you wonder why they didn't last, right?
Starting point is 00:32:21 You almost wonder why. Another one swallowed up after 2008, and we never saw them again. Because they did that kind of shit. The theme of summer 2008 is we never saw them again. And if there was one that I'm very happy to never see again, It's the fucking yin-yang twins for almost ruining Spring break 2008. But then that DJ saved it by playing loving this club real quick. Give it to them.
Starting point is 00:32:43 Yeah. All right. Slabs and snaps of year 2008, both year and years music, Steve. What do you got for, man? This one's easy as fuck for me. Oh, shit. What do you got? Summer 2008, you're going.
Starting point is 00:32:54 One, two, three, four, and... Has they hit slow down? No, dude, spring summer of 2008 is one of my favorite eras of life. I wouldn't trade those memories for everything, except for Ying Yang Twins trying to fuck up my night by hanging all over the place. Yeah, that was terrible. The music was dope. The time frame was dope. I loved life at that point.
Starting point is 00:33:16 Things were great. I will treasure those memories forever. Emulated on the beach here in Hermosa Beach of 2026 with the Dicek DJs. What do you got out of five? I lost count. Whatever yet. Four slaps. One snap.
Starting point is 00:33:33 You're putting the summer of 2000, over 2008. Absolutely. But not by much. Not even close to me. But not by much. I don't know. I got a hand on my taste. I got a taste of your taste.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Good year. It's just crazy. Good music. It was awesome. We all have different experiences. Early 2000's high school was a little bit more dancing for me. College was dancing. I went to college and college I ended up being like, oh, you're the dancer.
Starting point is 00:33:53 I was like, when I went to high school, I was the back dancer. Everybody else was getting down. I was just watching. Look at everybody get down. So high school is always going to win for me, 2000 as far as dancing. And the dance music came out. It makes me sense. So 2008, one of my favorite years of all time.
Starting point is 00:34:09 Not that far off, though. It was still classic music. Don't get me wrong. I'm giving it four and one. Like, I'm not like I'm that far off. Did you ever hear the remix of Usher's, A Loving This Club with Beyonce? I don't think I have it.
Starting point is 00:34:20 Sorry. All right. Well. I got it. You do? Yeah. Let me hear that a little bit because this is the rare time where they actually did a remix where it is a totally different song,
Starting point is 00:34:28 but it works times two. Really? Yeah. Sounds, I hate you, man. Try to speed it up? Yeah, yeah, you can speed up a little bit
