Starting point is 00:00:03 You know what time is. It's time for the Dysk. DJ. DZZ. We bet. Hello, everyone. And welcome to the Dysk D.Js. It's with your boy.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Salutation. DJ MC Jack. With your boy, Steve. Mr. DJ Castle. We're here at the Dysect hour on Dysect Radio. We are the DJs. They like to spin it. Spin it.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Mix it. Throw it back. And then we dissect that. And this is one I've been wanting to do for a very long time. Ladies and gentlemen, we are doing Billy Paul's, me, and Mrs. Jones. Have you heard? Seriously, he has been suggesting doing this one for about three years straight now, which brings me to this.
Starting point is 00:01:09 As we're recording this, at least at the time of recording, it's about the five-year anniversary from when we first started the Dysect DJ's podcast. We started in the middle of the vid five years ago. the middle. It was like the beginning of it, I think. Beginning. Yeah. It was right about April 2020 is when we first launched the podcast. So. And a drive that usually takes me about an hour and a half
Starting point is 00:01:30 to two hours took me exactly 30 minutes to get to castles because nobody was on the road. What a time. What a time. I drove all over the place for like the month of whatever that was. In any case, I've been wanting to do this song. Why? It's a beautiful love story wrapped in
Starting point is 00:01:46 an absolutely shitty story. All one on top of that ladies and gentlemen i have found the woman mrs jones i found her i found her song her rebuttal her response to billy did you mention this is billy paul already this is bill i did i said billy paul me and mrs jones and i found a response we're going to go over both songs today so these songs are a little slower we're going to let them play out a little longer and we're going to talk about the story that's happening in both of them this track of course from from 1972.
Starting point is 00:02:21 So we're on way back today in the Dysect Hour. There is no video for this? I can do this NPR voice all day. Let me just tell you. I found my calling. Yeah. Art Leboe. You ever end up like driving back at a night somewhere and you end up listening to Art Leboe somehow?
Starting point is 00:02:39 Yeah, but then he always like, Spider said, thanks to Tom for always being there. He always does the call. And then Bonnie wants to say out to Richard. I love you with all my heart and you're my soulmate forever That's nice That's precious Yeah I was like
Starting point is 00:02:58 Who calls it? Like who's somebody's still like calling And I'm gonna be like Rich is gonna be like wait wait I know Richard's gonna listen to the Art Lobo hour He's gonna be so like what What? My girl?
Starting point is 00:03:09 Is that my body calling? What? I love her. That's sweet Yeah Anyways this is a very detailed story So let's listen to the words As Billy Paul sings them
Starting point is 00:03:17 And let's find out truly what he and Mrs. Jones are really doing. Why would you buy the place Mrs. Jones Mrs. Jones All right, let's go over this real quick. And real quick, what I'm going to do is from this point on in the song
Starting point is 00:04:54 because we're getting to speed things up, I don't want to do last. The rest of the song is going to be spit up significantly. So it's going to sound a little more. It is a slow song. It's slower than we're used to here than that I think of you guys. I'm going to speed it up significantly from this time. All right.
Starting point is 00:05:06 I hope you enjoyed that then. Did you hear what you just said? Let's repeat the lyrics. Me and Mrs. Jones have a thing going on. We both know that it's wrong, but it's much too strong to let it go. Still kind of don't know what's happening, right? Still kind of like, hmm, what's wrong with this? They meet every day at the same cafe.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Now, let's talk about that. A lot of meetups. That's a very frequent meet up. Every day. There's a lot of people that don't even meet their wife every day. Is it seven days a week or five days a week? Either way. Every day.
Starting point is 00:05:39 Every day at 630. How is, okay, we haven't found out that they're not, they're doing anything. The consistency of meeting someone every day, got to give them props for that. Also, very catchable if you're, I mean, this is 1972. It's a little different. We haven't found out that they're doing anything. I know, but like, she says, he says. These two are cheating.
Starting point is 00:05:59 These two are cheating. He says that we both know what's wrong, so that they're definitely not supposed to be meeting up. There's somebody that's going to be pissed off that they're meeting up. They're literally just like, we're at the same place, same time, same. If anybody at all caught on to it, it would be very easy to, like, go catch them. So, yeah. And the Jupac plays their favorite song. And then he says the epic.
Starting point is 00:06:24 Me. Mrs. Joe. Mrs. Joe. Mrs. Joe. We got a thing going on.
Starting point is 00:06:43 It really is epic. Epic. That's the reason that we all remember this song. We all know it. And we all try to hit that song. And I hit it in karaoke. And I. kill that shit. And I knew.
Starting point is 00:06:53 In and of itself, it's a memorable song because of that specific line and how he already hits it. But going deeper into the story, let's listen to more of these lyrics. I'm going to let this one play out a little bit more. Again, it's going to be much more sped up. Let's see what it sounds like. Let's get it going. But both know that it's wrong,
Starting point is 00:07:11 but it's much too strong to let it go down. Extra careful. Yeah, because you're meeting at the same place every single time. You're not being careful. You're not being careful. being very loose with it very out in the open
Starting point is 00:07:30 yeah if you're trying to cheat the people that work in this coffee shop probably think you guys are like already married they're married they're like oh that couple that couple meets here every day at 6pm
Starting point is 00:07:41 yeah and if you ever took your wife there they would be suspicious of who the hell that one the one of this bitch yeah crazy that we don't build our hopes up to high because she's got a whole obligation song
Starting point is 00:07:58 It's definitely it's different Too much too strong It hurts so much inside Now she'll go her away And I'll go It doesn't hit as hard right It doesn't hit as hard right? Not nearly as impactful
Starting point is 00:08:56 I don't think I like it as much I get it but I'm just trying to get through the point Yeah yeah All we're trying to get through with this thing Is that this man is singing a love song About him cheating on his wife daily with Mrs. Jones. And we all love it.
Starting point is 00:09:12 We've all loved this song. Well, you kept saying before that, like, we don't know that they're doing anything wrong, but, like, it keeps sounding, like, clearly there's, like, this is Mrs. Jones. I'm not supposed to be seeing her, and she's not supposed to be seeing me, but we got our little, like, secret meetup
Starting point is 00:09:26 that is very public and very at the same time and very put out there now because I'm making a fucking song about it. So, Billy, you're not really covering your tracks very well, but respect for just, like, throwing it all out there, I guess, I don't know. And putting it into a song. I hope your wife doesn't hear this.
Starting point is 00:09:42 Yeah, that'd be a hard one to explain. No one. I don't even bother to try to. Once you put the song out there, it's like it's over. It's like, all right. Now, with that said, this is my way of letting my wife know that Mrs. Jones and I are going to like, do your sound effects. Hubba, hobba, hubba.
Starting point is 00:10:00 Your king-sized bed for, ram, rah, rah, be. Be be-de-de-de-b-b-bba. Stop that. Getting crazy. So, that's pretty much me and Mrs. Jones. I mean, I kind of did it because we're going to speed it through.
Starting point is 00:10:15 Let me, just so we don't end on such a crazy note, let me speed it back down, and just so you guys can get the gist of one more time, just the end of it. That's being actually careful at all. He's real adamant. He's real mad at him about it being the same cafe at the same place. It's got to be the exact same place. We are routine folk without cheating, okay? Anyway, you guys get the point, finishing it up.
Starting point is 00:11:10 Now, as I told everyone, Ladies and gentlemen, I have found Mrs. Jones. I found the response. There's a response. That was made in music form. Mrs. Jones put out a track? Mrs. Jones put out a track 20 years later. Talk to me about it.
Starting point is 00:11:26 20 years later. Well, let's go 15 years. 15 years later in 1987. Check the date on that. Yeah, I think you did the math right. 1972, 1987. Yeah, 15 years later, Ms. Jones comes out with her response to this. Now, you guys may not know her as Mrs. Jones.
Starting point is 00:11:41 Nobody know her is, Justin You know what? I'll let her sing it You'll know exactly Before we continue Yes, Whitney Is Whitney Is Mrs Jones
Starting point is 00:12:06 That's Whitney Whitney is Mrs. Jones Listen to the lyrics And tell me I'm wrong Is all To resist But no other Lien of my own
Starting point is 00:13:09 Time I just break down Because I'd ride To be for me. You're going to have to help me out with lyrics on that one because we still have the Bruno Mars and Rose and Rose track.
Starting point is 00:14:53 I know, but as I was listening to that, for some reason, that video keeps playing and it's like them doing this shit. And it's like, as I'm listening to Whitney Houston, I'm like, I don't know, I lost all the train of thought. Okay, just give me the cliff notes of what the lyrics I were saying, that she says... Do you have the lyrics or do I pop-up?
Starting point is 00:15:09 I mean, you're the one that knows this track that you have been making... You've read this theory for years. Like, I feel. like you know the the cliff notes version that would get us to the point where it's like oh okay so right here let's go through it a few stolen moments is all that we share you've got your family and they need you there i mean i mean i mean i mean come on though i've tried to resist being last on your list what does that mean she's like she's not the main one he has his
Starting point is 00:15:39 wife at home she's the last she's the one at the cafe but he has to go back to the thing The fact that she said last and that second is notable. He could have multiple. He would say, but then he's a busy man because he already meets her at 630 every day. Anyway, but no other man's going to do, so I'm saving all my love for you.
Starting point is 00:15:55 So she's saving all her money. Let's go to the next lyric. It's not very easy living all alone. My friends tell me to find a man of my own. Why? Because he's already married because he's cheating on her because they both know what's wrong. And also you're fucking Whitney, dude.
Starting point is 00:16:06 You have to decide that like... I'm 87 Whitney. This isn't cracked. Crime Whitney right now. You have to be a little. like, well, I don't know, this other married guy, he gives me a little bit of attention a week.
Starting point is 00:16:17 I guess I'm just going to save all my love for him. Like, fuck that. You're crying Whitney right now. What are you doing? You're doing. But each time I try, I just break down and cry because I'd rather be home. I think you're going to add reverb to that.
Starting point is 00:16:34 So I'm saving all my love for you. Right? Again, one more time. You used to tell me we'd run away together. Love gives you the right to be free. You said to be patient Just wait a little longer But that's just an old fantasy
Starting point is 00:16:51 So he's stringing her along He's like you know We're gonna be together But first let's meet at the cafe Again tomorrow And then we'll you know Figure out what we're gonna do from there And then but I'll get away
Starting point is 00:17:01 I'm gonna get away from Mrs. My girl Don't worry I'm coming to you Mrs. Jones Remember when he is Mrs. Jones Yeah yeah this classic I remember somebody telling me once This is what you would call Love Bomber
Starting point is 00:17:12 Where it's like You just like say the things that they want to hear, you know? You get by day to day with that by, like, just kind of gassing them up, saying the words, like, oh, no, no, no, like, one day I'm going to take you away from here. We're going to go, like, live, like, our life and everything, even though, especially if they know that you're, like, married and you have, like, a family and everything like that, but you just, like, keep them, you string them along by, like, keeping them.
Starting point is 00:17:32 My kid graduates next year. After that, I'll have, like, some more, like, I'll be able to get away from, yeah, just just keeping it, and then, you know, years go by, and you're like, but I thought you said, and let me tell you, time goes by fast, so, I don't know where five years goes, promises but they're like he's not even saying it she's saying i'm saving all my love for you but it's like she's just envisioning that that's what he's doing but there's no like reciprocity based on what we just heard from the mrs jones song he's getting double booty he's just basically like no i got six o'clock for you at the cafe 630 and she's like oh that's all i need to hear i'm saving all my
Starting point is 00:18:03 love for you i gotta be out of here by 730 but yeah but we will get the bill is 650 sharp like because i got to go and then according to her they sneak away to pick up my daughter from soccer practice According to the next lyric, according to her, they sneak away every once in a while and go, you know, they get crazy. Wait a second. You added a new sound. It was like, ew. They get crazy because the next lyrics go, I got to get ready just a few minutes more. Going to get that old feeling as you walk through that door.
Starting point is 00:18:40 That's heard him walking through the 630 cafe door, by the way. Because tonight is the night for feeling all right. We'll be making love to home. Right? Yeah. So I'm saving all my love. Yes, I'm saving. Yes, I'm saving.
Starting point is 00:19:07 It's a hard note to hit Whitney. Only Whitney can hit that. You cannot do karaoke for Whitney. That's hard. I've heard a couple people, but rare. No, it's one of those ones. It's better off not trying. Everybody thinks that they can do, like, I'm every woman.
Starting point is 00:19:20 They think they can do, what's a song from the Bodyguard? I will always love you. I will always love you. Don't try that. Yeah, don't try that. Nobody try that. You're not going to outdo it. Nobody tried.
Starting point is 00:19:29 Just put it on and everybody sing along to it. That's the best way to do that. But yeah, so far, are you in agreeance that she is possibly Mrs. Jones? I mean, yeah. I'll say yeah, but I also don't think that this is like an isolated incident that's never happened again. I think there's a lot of scenarios in which you could have the Mrs. Jones relationship or the saving all my love relationship.
Starting point is 00:19:51 So, I mean, I don't think that they both made a song about this 15 years apart being like, oh, I'm going to finish a story on this. They were both just like Around creeping And it just happened in like different decades Yeah, I knew you were gonna hate What was she gonna supposed to come out with the song Immediately? They would have got caught
Starting point is 00:20:07 In 1972 She had to wait 15 years to put him on blast She was like oh you're not gonna like he strung her long Whitney was like 12 in 172 All right yeah I get I mean things got weird back then dude My grandmother was married at 13 and a half Had her kid by 15 and had five kids by 21 Things were different
Starting point is 00:20:25 Things were different Awkward but different All right, let's let the final part of this saving my love, and then we'll finish it up, and I can prove to you that Wendy is. There's further proof. This is Jones. As the song fades. Can we give the sax a bit of credit?
Starting point is 00:21:34 You know, Air Sax is a hard instrument to play. I've tried it many times. I was just trying it right now. It's like you put your... You've got fingers here, and you've got to, like, close your mouth. You're not, there's not like a good place for the mouth, Because it doesn't, yeah, it doesn't really work as a great air instrument.
Starting point is 00:21:50 Kind of like a flute almost. Flute is a little bit easier because you do... Oh, yeah. Yeah. Aaron is good. Trump, it's good. Trombone. A lot of the instruments you could totally do,
Starting point is 00:22:00 like, air instruments, you know exactly what you're playing. But saxophone are just kind of like you're down here. You almost need, like, shades to really bring it home. Because saxophone players, they always got to wear the shades. Absolutely.
Starting point is 00:22:11 It's part of the gear. Yeah, so no other woman is going to love you more. Because tonight is the night. I'm feeling all right. will be making love the whole night through That's your proof That's your evidence
Starting point is 00:22:24 So I'm saving on my love Yes I'm saving on my left Yes I'm saving my love for you For you No there's the entire The song in its entirety Proves that she is Mrs. Jones So you're welcome ladies and gentlemen
Starting point is 00:22:36 I gave you the full story There was a first part that we all knew And we had no idea And we all knew the Whitney song 15 years later When he decided to be like You know what It's time to put this motherfucker on blast
Starting point is 00:22:46 He's been streaming along for 15 years Here's the song for it But didn't put him on blast, right? She's kind of kept it kind of inconspicuous His ass decided to put her full fucking name On the damn thing like of her husband Like Mr. Jones looks I mean Mrs. Jones
Starting point is 00:23:01 I'm Mr. Jones That definitely sounds like an alias So you could easily get away with Like let's call her Mrs. I mean but what if her name was Jones And now he just fully like Didn't even think twice to put her on blast And didn't realize her husband
Starting point is 00:23:13 Listen to Art Lebo Well that was Well, that was stupid, Billy Paul. Shouldn't have done that. All right. With that said, I guess... With that said, can we just give a tip of the cap? And you have a cap right now very much to tip...
Starting point is 00:23:29 To 87 Whitney. What a firecracker she was. Was that the year that she had, like, how will I know? How will I know? She had... I want to dance with somebody? Oh, yeah. That has a peak Whitney right there.
Starting point is 00:23:41 Watch. Let's see what we got here. I think I got some videos here. Let's see. Let's see what we got from... I'm going to go right to the middle of somebody. middle and see what we got yeah oh look at it go ahead Whitney how will I know I got like a remix version yes that's my favorite version of Whitney right here big old
Starting point is 00:24:21 ribbon and I have the real version of it was I got to get the real version though I'm not familiar with it or how about this one are you gonna let it go I'm gonna let it go come on Cass and you gotta let it go one more one more of Whitney back in the day like that days. I'm always down for the Whitney back in the days. This is a little bit later, Whitney. This is actually early 90s. Early 90s Whitney.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Yeah. Still killing it. Finding its own way. Yeah. Whitney 87, you're right. Hey, man. I don't know. I actually love early 90s Whitney too.
Starting point is 00:25:43 Yeah. Man. Any signs, Whitney before she showed signs of, you know, drug issues. It was awesome. Let's be real. Then she started looking. Then I started worrying about her.
Starting point is 00:25:52 I was like, oh, man. I don't think the music game has had any recovery to what Whitney brought to the table. Well, Mariah was her badly. They battled for a while there. Yeah, Whitney and Mariah were both right there with, like, just the power of vocals, you know? So, yeah. And then Christina Aguilera came in a little bit. But not, but she never had any songs I enjoyed as much as either of those, so I'll say that.
Starting point is 00:26:09 I'll give you that. Nothing that, like, like, me and you could jammed a bunch of Whitney songs. Hell yeah. They're very female, like, oriented, but we're still getting down. But I'd be happy to do it. Yeah. I'll mind it. I'll mind it.
Starting point is 00:26:18 Yeah. I guess, okay, so the slaps and snaps today are very simply, I guess. Yeah, which one are we slapping about? We're doing both. How much, I guess we're gonna slap and snap how much you truly believe. Oh, is that what it is? Okay. That Mrs. Jones is Whitney and that the two songs are actually one.
Starting point is 00:26:36 Okay. I want you to go first because this is your thing. That's a five. That is Whitney. I love both songs. They both, I can sing both in the car and I is Whitney's Mrs. Jones. You listen to lyrics again, listen to both, and you will realize that she is the woman that was trying to get Mr.
Starting point is 00:26:56 not Mr. Jones, the Billy Paul to cheat on his wife, she was shooting him at 6.30 every fucking day. And she was saving his love, and then she finally banged him. And then, but he never left her. So 15 years later, she put him on blast. All right, there is. Five clapper, as far as, first of all, I love both songs. They're both classics, and the stories are intermingled.
Starting point is 00:27:21 All right. In that case, my rating for Mrs. Jones v. Saving on my love. Save it on my love. This is bullshit. This is bullshit. I'll get two. I'll take two. I just wanted a reaction.
Starting point is 00:27:47 I just wanted to get the reaction. But yeah, this isn't the same story. It isn't the same people. 15 years. Yes, it is. No, it's not. It's a very common story. You think this is the first time that people have been like,
Starting point is 00:27:56 oh, yeah, if I have somebody to meet up, she never says anything about meeting up. If she had a line in there about, like, our daily meetups, yeah, then I would have been like, well, there's something here. She's simply saying that there's, like, somebody that she's longing for, that she's going to save her love that's, like,
Starting point is 00:28:10 in a situation. I don't even think, Billy Paul ever says anything about, he just says we shouldn't, but he doesn't actually say why. Maybe she's married, maybe he is. I don't know. Maybe there's family involved, but, like, it's a pretty common story to be brought out in, like, an R&B song. But I do think both songs are great. I think they're both solid old school, soul R&B music.
Starting point is 00:28:31 So that's where the second slap came from. They're nice, enjoyable songs that are very slow. You've got to be in a certain mood to listen to this kind of music. Any long drive? Yeah, maybe like a long, like drive it and night. while you're listening to like 94.7 the wave and listening to Art Lebo hour or whatever. Hey, this is Spider. I want to tell my girl, Jessica, like, I love her and we'll be with her forever.
Starting point is 00:28:53 And once I get out of jail, it's going to be on. That's why he delivers the messages, because then he'll take Spider's message and make it sound like way more. Hey, this is Spider, and he says once he gets out of jail. Spire says, Jessica, you are my heart. You are my heart. And as soon as I get back to you from my prison cell. Voyage overseas, I will take you to a place that romance has only known in the movies and in your dreams. Signed, Spider.
Starting point is 00:29:24 Yeah, see, Art Labo. I could have been on Art Labo in another life. Somebody put me on 94.7, the way. Hey, all you cheatin motherfuckers out there. Fuck you. You're talking to Billy Paul. and apparently Mrs. Jones and apparently Whitney.
Starting point is 00:29:45 Nick!
