Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm Daniel Alarcon, and this is my friend. This is much more famous than I am. I wouldn't go that far, but I'm John Green, co-host at the podcast The Away End, with my old friend Daniel. On our podcast, The Away End, we'll share with you the magic of international football, all leading up to the 2026 World Cup. Together, we'll find out why, of all the unimportant things, football, soccer, is the most important. Listen to the Away End with Daniel Alarcon and John Green on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. Kentucky can count on bourbon, basketball, and 975 WAMZ. Kentucky-N-A-N-A-N-N-A-N-N-A-N-N-A-N-N-A-N-N-A-N-KKKKKKKKKKKK-N-A-N-KKKKKKKK,
Starting point is 00:00:38 and we never take for granted that you make us part of your day. That's why we make it a point to play your favorite country-museum. Whether you're starting your day off with the Bobby Bone show, making your workday go a little faster by hanging out with me on the job, or dealing with that Gene Snyder traffic on the ride home with Corey Calhoun, you can count on us for the best country music in Kentucky. In Louisville, you can catch us on the radio dial at 97-5, and anywhere on the IHeart radio app.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Territory, first one, I am Alana Rizzo. I am in L.A. Clint Paseas is at Dodgers Stadium. He just witnessed a tremendous, tremendous game for you. Clint Paceas, I told you, I told you the Dodgers were going to sweep the brewers, and they are very, very much on the cusp of doing that. How are you?
Starting point is 00:01:36 I am good. The sun went down. I was baking for quite some time out here in the boonies that they call the auxiliary press box here, Dodger Stadium. By the way, just before we went live, I told you to text DJ Severe to turn down the music. I think he turned it up. So there's that relationship there. But most importantly, the Dodgers win this baseball game. Great.
Starting point is 00:01:58 If you like baseball, if you like clean baseball games, this is everything you want to see. A little bit of drama, a little bit of pitching. One thing you don't want to see is Jackson Churio get injured. We'll talk about that a little bit more in a second here. Bullpen Electric. We'll talk a lot about that in a second. And Glasnow did just enough to help this team win a ball game and be one win away from another World Series burden.
Starting point is 00:02:23 Clint, the opener does not work for Milwaukee again. Like, I can appreciate the thought. I can appreciate the approach. It just doesn't work. Listen, Pat Murphy, good dude. seems like a great baseball guy. I don't know what he's doing. It feels like he's there.
Starting point is 00:02:42 It's probably not all him. It feels like they're out managing themselves a little bit here. They're overthinking. It feels to me a little bit like, I'll do respect, Dave Roberts. It feels like Dodgers teams of eight to ten years ago or something like that. Instead of just going out there and running with your best dudes,
Starting point is 00:02:59 which Jacob Mizorowski, you saw nasty. He was good. He was very good. Jose Cantana is a starting pitcher. available. Instead, you go Aaron Ashby, who the Dodgers have already seen a good amount in the series, got exposed. The Dodgers get a point on the board because I love to call them points and piss people off. Show Hay with the triple there to lead off the game. He thought they could really blow it open there. But the Miz came in and restored order up until the sixth inning. But yeah,
Starting point is 00:03:26 the opener, I don't get it. I really don't get it. Clint Paseas, the Dodgers do not want to play baseball this weekend. They want to close this crap out tomorrow and I am all for it. I am all for it. I said the Dodgers are going to sweep the brewers and I feel even better about it today than I did two days ago. I do. I just feel like we are the better team. You take two from the brew crew in Milwaukee. You come home. Take the third game. It's three and O. Dodgers win tomorrow. It's a sweep, which I don't really like the layoff. But the Dodgers are not playing baseball this weekend. My friend, they are not. Do you think they are? So I had conversations with a couple friends of the show before the game here.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Jerry Harrison Jr. and Eric Caros, both in the flesh on the field. I asked E.K., what do you think this is? Four game series, five game series, three game series. E.K. said four. Easy. They're not playing baseball this weekend. Jerry Harrison. Clint. Yes. That cannot be a three game series.
Starting point is 00:04:22 It's a seven game series that you have to win four. That's the bit. That's the bit. That's the joke. Your bit is dumb. This is the last day that you have is a 39-year-old. Your bit is dumb. Yeah, you can do all this that you want, all this that you want.
Starting point is 00:04:38 Your bit is stupid. Anyway, moving on. Go, go, go, go. I didn't even flip off that time. But, guys, defend me in the chat. Tell me my bit was okay. I would appreciate some love in the chat for that one. Beyond that, Jerry Harrison, he wasn't feeling as strong.
Starting point is 00:04:53 I'm assuming he's changed his tune a little bit after watching this game, where I agree with some of Jay Harris' sentiment in that It took two all-time dominant performances from Blake Snell and Yoshinovi Yamamoto to really beat down on the Brewers in the first two games. But you also saw them get beat down by Tyler Glasnow, who maybe didn't have his best stuff today, maybe didn't have the best strike zone to work with. And they're still down three nothing in the series, even if it doesn't end up being a sweep because I would love to have no baseball happen over the weekend. It's still going to be done in five. They are not playing baseball in Milwaukee. anymore. No, they're not. The Dodgers are going to sweep tomorrow. They're going to win.
Starting point is 00:05:36 And then we're going to have, oh, Jim, what's up? Super Chaffee's $50. Jim, what's up, buddy? Clint, get a Dodgers hat. Yeah, Clint, what are you doing? What are you wearing right now, buddy? What are you trying to be professional. I am, I am covering. They're trying to be professional in the auxiliary fucking press box. Oh, I had the way. By the way, I still need Mark to send me a hat that has foul territory in the back. You know, Prisinski doesn't need that hat. Tell Presensky to send me that hat. He has bigling money.
Starting point is 00:06:05 Is that like an opossum that is pat? What are you holding? Is that a microphone? What is that? Is that like a doctor? Is that like? Yes. Will this make it better?
Starting point is 00:06:18 Do you like it without the, honestly goodness. Is it like a Roomba? Like, is it like a little? Anyways. Anyways. Dodgers are playing baseball this weekend because they want me to celebrate my birthday in peace on Saturday.
Starting point is 00:06:33 Very, very drunk. Nobody cares about your birthday. All right, Glass Now. Let's do it. You were like, do I really want Glass now to start? I do. I want Glass now. He was great.
Starting point is 00:06:43 He was great. We have such a good team. I'm so happy. We're so lucky. To borrow from my friend Doug McCain, it's an embarrassment of pitches that this Dodgers rotation has that the Dodgers team has. Hey, Alana, you remember? I don't know, like three weeks ago when we're like, oh, this bullpen is ass.
Starting point is 00:07:04 We're going to get destroyed. This team has no chance. Did you see what they did? We're not going to talk about the bullpen yet because we're going to talk about that. We're going to spotlight the bullpen in about a minute or two. But exception, just exceptional performance up and down. I just cannot. The biggest test for the Dodgers already passed, that was the Philadelphia Phillies.
Starting point is 00:07:23 I'm sorry. Milwaukee, very good team. They're falling apart over here. All right. Let's do it. Let's do the Draft King's spotlight on the bullpen because we have given a lot of garbage to the bullpen. But you know what? It's time that we give them their spot.
Starting point is 00:07:39 All right. So here's a deal. Draft King spotlight today. We are shining light. Vesia. Trinan shut down any of the Milwaukee threats. Like this has been the biggest bugaboo of the Dodgers and they got it done today. And I'm thankful for them.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Bonda, a one, two, three, eight. Very good. Rogi Sasaki, his third save of the post. season you'll take it right that's what you want from your bullpen when when they're as rested as they are of course uh they essentially got the day off well they did get the day off at yamamoto uh you mostly get the day off with uh blake snow on the bump but uh see these dudes come out here at home electric crowd by the way all of the BS about a three o'clock game there were fans in the seat and this place was very alive when rokey came in in particular this fan base is all about roki sasaki
Starting point is 00:08:29 right now. They were writing it. He saw that pitch that he threw to the backstop. The whole bowl here is cheering row key, row key. And then I think he got a little amp for that one. But still, again, not the greatest outing from Tyler Glassnow. Very, very good against a good Milwaukee Brewers team to have those four dudes come in and mop up the mess. Vesia gets that final out in the sixth inning.
Starting point is 00:08:55 And then Trinon mops up a little bit of mess that Vessia had. I think it was a walk or a base hit from there. Bonda, people sleeping on Anthony Bonda. Don't forget, he was held off of that wild card roster. My good best friend, Anthony Bonda. And then, yeah, Roki, all of the worry he had after that game one appearance where he looked a little shaky, gone. Roki is back.
Starting point is 00:09:16 I am thankful to Vesia. I am thankful to Tiranin. I am thankful to Bonda. I am thankful to Sasaki. And I am thankful to Draft Kings. Let it go. Play the slot. Football is back, and so is your shot at big wins.

Shohei Otani, Jose Cantana. The Dodgers could easily have the weekend off. What is your act, like your prediction? What's your thought about it?
Starting point is 00:10:46 I mean, Shohei, in his start so far this postseason, he looked pretty dominant. He looked pretty dang good. And that is an understatement. I love the way the Dodger bullpen is set up to, we keep saying it, give this team. Give us all the weekend off. Go out there, score early. This team took it to Jose Kintana last year in NLCS against the Mets. Sorry to Mark for that one. Sorry to Scott for that one. Sorry to the East Coast. Yeah, yeah, Mark's a Angina. But yeah, I think it was five runs over three in the third innings against Kintana last year when he was a Met. Dodgers have seen him a lot And they're going to be hungry.
Starting point is 00:11:26 Actually getting a reasonable start time as well, 538 local time here where the crowd is still, there's still people here having a little bit of a good time. But I do want to point out. And I'm sorry, Gab, I'm going to do this. I am going to move my camera because I have this. But meanwhile, the TBS guys down there have a nice desk. They have this whole set up. You know what? What a beautiful site, though, right?
Starting point is 00:11:48 Like there's a billion people that would love to be 199 super chat from Richard Flores, Clint from the cheap seats. I know I was there. You know what? He's lucky in this. He's in the building. Like, honestly, God, I wouldn't. If I was in charge of security, I would not let Clint Passeus in. I'm just, I'm just saying.
Starting point is 00:12:05 I wouldn't let him in. But I mean, this is like, it's a, it's a beautiful thing to be able to cover a team as good as the Dodgers. On the eve of your 40th birthday guy, I'm so proud of you. Here we are. We're about to sweep these. Yeah, he did. We're about to sweep these guys out of. the postseason that's it it's there's no way the dodgers went tomorrow they're just there's just
Starting point is 00:12:31 no way sorry i don't know what it is um i'm grabbing the camera again because uh we got we got kersha walking down here for people who like uh clayton kershaw on the bump i can't zoom in but that's got like three three of his four kids and one on the way oh i love that well we'll bring it back i'm sorry i'm to stop doing the camera thing no no no it's good um so for all of you thank you Clint i'm proud of you really truly proud of you happy eve of your 40th birthday buddy tomorrow the brewers are going to lose again and the dodgers are going to sweep the c s and they're on their way to the postseason or to the world series i don't really like the fact they're going to have to wait that long but it is what it is um that's it all dodgers live well we're not done yet we still got more
Starting point is 00:13:15 we do still more there's still more to be had yeah we still got to tell people about other things and other stuff and whatever and we still got to give a shout out to a arena club in just a second. Going back to your question about what I like about tomorrow and the setup, yes, you'd like Shohayotani on the bump. I really, I saw a team today that wanted to win a baseball game, Max Muncie, with some pretty damn slick defensive plays, a good game for Will Smith. He needed one of those a hit, walk, run scored. Mookie in the ninth inning, a hell of a play at shortstop. He tried to get all the plays until Roki decided to be rude and strike out the last batter of the game. But yeah, the Brewers are reeling.
Starting point is 00:13:55 And Riz, to me, I mean, you weren't covering the team fully this, that particular year. But in 2021, it feels like the Brewers are kind of at that spot where Dodgers just basically fell apart. They gave it their all up to, including throwing Max Scherzer in that game five against the Giants to save it for some weird reason. And then they lost, they ran out of pitchers. You know, Justin Turner injured his hamstring and was done on the field the same way maybe Jackson Churio is now done for. for the Brewers this postseason. It felt that at that moment, I was talking to somebody up here in the box as well,
Starting point is 00:14:31 who covers the Brewers. And it felt to me at that moment, it reminded me of those 2021 Dodgers. I'm not sure. It was, it is a hell of a season for the Brewers. I'm not sure. I just, I think that you go over the course of the season and everyone's like criticizing the Dodgers
Starting point is 00:14:51 for all kinds of things, right? And I get it. And the Brewers are a very good team. But when you get to the point of the postseason and the Dodgers have been there, done that, and they figured out a way. And it's not even punting the regular season. They have just figured out a way to maintain and get through it.
Starting point is 00:15:12 And I will say this. I feel like this is the most perfect time for the Dodgers starters to be healthy and altogether. And they are. And they've done really, really well. and they've pitched a lot of incredible innings. And I'm excited for them and I'm happy for them. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:15:29 I'm sorry for the brewers, but not really. I'm not. It's like, here's the deal. Everyone like wants to crap on the Dodgers. But again, as I've said this a thousand times, money will buy you good players. It does not guarantee wins. It does not guarantee championships.
Starting point is 00:15:45 So it is what it is. Hey, this is a ball club. That's it. This is a ball club. the Dodgers side of this ball club. I mean, just being around the team, you know, everybody is all bought in. They're all pulling on the same side of the rope.
Starting point is 00:16:00 They love each other. They are playing for each other. And you can see that. Yeah, they bring in new dudes here and there, obviously, but they also all rally around the new dudes. This Rokey wouldn't be having the kind of postseason and the resurgence that he's having if the team hadn't rallied around him. Like, they are bought in.
Starting point is 00:16:18 This is a team that is absolutely bought in. We got more Dodgers territory coming up in just a second. but first you're going to hear from our friends over at Fowel Territory. Let's hit this week's Arena Club slab pack pull. We opened a Ruby. We went big. We did. $250 pack.
Starting point is 00:16:33 You know what? The nerves got me. I think it was so exciting because the motion and waits about four or five seconds for the card to come up. A card that I got was over $300 a prospect from the Mariners. And for me, I love the card. I thought it was great. Guess what? I sold it back.
Starting point is 00:16:51 And now I got a little more money and now I can go buy another one. You have to wait a couple minutes afterwards. And this is the excitement of the whole thing. Put your money where your mouth is and have fun with the arena club. You can see that big smile on Todd Father's face. Lazaro Montes, who's supposed to be good. He's baseball America top three. He's in the Mariners organization.
Starting point is 00:17:10 But Toddfather sometimes thinks prospects are suspects. So he's going back to the well and we'll see what he gets next time. Use the code foul, F-O-U-L at arena club.com slash foul. if you want to get it on the first slap pack experience and get 20% off or 20% off your first card purchase. Hey, Lana, I'm hanging out here in the chat. I have to pull it up on my phone so I don't have too many things open and break my computer here. But I really love this comment from a tall Ken Chit saying start of the season 8-0 and the season 8-0. I really like that.
Starting point is 00:17:40 Right? I mean, why not 8-no? I mean, what do they have? Five games left? You have one game left. Yeah, five more wins. So you have one more win in the... CS and then you have four in the World Series.
Starting point is 00:17:54 Perfect. I like it. I'm in. I'm in on this idea. And again, I'll say for the 80th time. We're in on the Dodgers getting the weekend off. And, you know, the worry, this will be the final thing for today, the worry you have about that long layoff, I feel good knowing that these guys now know after last postseason, they now know how to handle that kind of time off, that kind of layoff.
Starting point is 00:18:17 They're going to be locked in. I think they will be in a very, very good spot to enjoy some. rest and, you know, move on and beat the insert, you know, American League team here. Yeah, insert, insert whoever it is. All right, so here's the deal. Clint Pisces, I have enjoyed being your co-host for three years. I have enjoyed getting to know you for three years. I have, I truly appreciate your love for this team. I truly appreciate your work ethic and your preparation and all the things.
Starting point is 00:18:50 tomorrow Clint Pisces turns 40 40. 40 my guy. He turns 40. And he is working on his 40th birthday. And he loves this team more than anyone I've ever met in my lifetime. And I've covered this team for a lot. So Clint, I adore you. You know this team better than anybody. You are a big fan, but you're also quietly critical, but also very true and I appreciate you and I hope you have a great birthday tomorrow and I'm going to sign off by saying this you are good for Dodgers fans you are good for Dodgers territory so I want you enjoy tonight happy birthday tomorrow Clint is hosting the show tomorrow I will be back with you guys on Saturday and the check is in the mail for Alana for saying all of those nice things about me I appreciate no nope nope nope I don't need the money buddy

I don't have to worry about it. Hi. Oh, no. It's so bad. I'm Daniel Alarcon, and this is my friend. He's much more famous than I am. I wouldn't go that far. But I'm John Green, co-hosted the podcast The Away End with my old friend Daniel.
