All right, this was a good one.
They call it an angry win, right?
You come out after losing game one of the series against the Colorado Rockies,
even after Dave Robert said, we're not going to have a letdown.
They had a letdown in game one,
but I like the way they responded in game two.
What's your takeaway?
Yeah, I mean, you got to love everything about a game like this.
Hang a high 10, and this one goes to 11, as Stephen Nelson said, on the broadcast.
The offense kindly said F off to the Colorado Rockies.
in this one. Let's bring the chat in here, guys. Fill up the chat. Let us know how you're
feeling. I see our buddy Scott Braun in there. But let us know how you're feeling about this
one. I feel a lot better today than I did yesterday. Dodgers put up points early, seven runs
over their first three innings, got back on the board in the seventh, back on the board in the
eighth. So it wasn't just limited to one inning. Freddie and Teo got the offense going.
Shohei chose violence on a baseball. And overall, just a lot of fun. How about four for five
for Alex Call. Maybe Andrew Friedman was right the whole time.
Well, I was hoping that Alex Call hit for the cycle. So I'm so disappointed in Mr. Call. I'm
kidding. I'm kidding. He was tremendous today. Hats are fire. Thanks, Scotty B. Appreciate you, brother.
Buy stuff from our stuff. Yeah, that's exactly right. Buy stuff. No, Alex Call was phenomenal.
I mean, and there's something to be said about an angry one. Alex Rensuria here in our chat.
What's up, Alex? This is exactly why we.
get angry as Dodgers fans because we know what we're capable of we know what they're capable of
i get it i mean you're not going to win 162 but you don't you cannot have a letdown against the
colorado rockies i'm sorry it's just they're a bad team they're a four a team if that's that's
kind of disrespectful to even if there was a four a team i mean they are they are bad um they have
no business being in the minor league they should get relegated down like they do in soccer but um this
was a good overall when i like the fact that everybody in the lineup got in on the hitting
Everyone's kind of like running to the bat rack in this game.
It's good to see.
Yeah, it was one of those game.
I think every starter in the game had at least one base hit.
Almost everybody got on base at least twice.
Just again, a complete outright dominance against the team you should dominate in the Colorado Rockies.
Austin Gomber entered this game with an ERA around eight.
It was so good for the Dodgers.
And I got to make sure I put this up because I haven't done that yet.
Hey, it's 11 to 4.
Buddy Kennedy
actually got a base hit in this game
An absolute screamer,
65 mile an hour exit velocity off the bat
But the one that really was violent
I want to go to Show Hay's Homer
He hit it, I think it was 115 off the bat
And you know, ho-hum, 44 homers on the season
It just, it just feels like
I know you and I don't talk enough about show hay
mostly because I write the shows and I kind of hate being the hipster that talks or
hate being the person that talks about the things that get all of the clicks nationally.
So sorry Scott and everybody who expect us to make more money on the show.
But I like good solid baseball conversation, not just show hey.
But Shohei is just, he's something special.
He hits the ball so damn hard pitching tomorrow.
He's fun.
It's fun to watch.
You can't talk enough about Shohei Otani and he's constantly giving us stuff to talk about.
I mean, he did that so quietly, though.
If you can throw that up there again from Sarah Lang's, which she was saying, the first 126 games in Dodgers history, 22, or 2025.
Obviously, that's this year, Shohei Otani 44, Cody B 42 back in 2019.
And he does it just, again, quietly hits, you know, puts his set down and does it.
And here we are making history again.
But yeah, I'll take that.
I'll take the home run, but I'll also take up and down the lineup and production all over.
the place way more than I'll take show hey 46. I love this graphic as well also from sarah langs
or this stat show hey just makes his own club which is great you know the multiple pitching starts
and most homers in the season 2021 show hey with 44 with 46 he should break that record uh in
maybe tomorrow he's on the mound uh and then you see a couple of 44s in there 20 22 with 34 he's just
he's he's a unicorn he really truly is a freaking unicorn.
of a baseball player.
And again, we probably need to find a way to talk more about him on the show.
To me, I put it in our rundown.
It's just whole hum.
He just goes out there and hits dingers.
Like that one kid in the Little League.
The Little League World Series.
I'm just here to hit dingers.
That's what he does.
And it's fun.
It's really fun to watch.
It is awesome.
Yeah.
You know what?
I love the fact that Teo got a little bit of revenge, I guess, in right field.
Everyone's like questioning whether he belongs in right field.
field or not. Let's not go that far back to, you know,
2024 guys. I understand that he has not had that good of a season. He's not been the same
dude, obviously, uh, since he came off of the IL. But today was a good game for him in right
field. And I like Alex call in left field. Is this the Dodgers outfield in the postseason?
Is it call Pahas and to Oscar? Um, I mean, it's definitely an option. I don't think and kind of,
you know, talking doc with Doc yesterday. I, I, I,
I just don't see a world where Michael Conforto is getting a lot of outings,
getting a lot of playing time come October time.
So Alex Cole could be in there, should maybe be in there.
If he can keep playing like this, of course, Coors Field,
take it with a little bit of a grand assault.
But hopefully this is something that kind of sparks the start of his Dodgers career,
because this would be a massive haul if you're able to get a solid third outfielder
in that outfield.
But Tommy, yeah, Tommy Edmund's going to be somebody who also will be fighting for playing
time or whatever but options that's fun that's something that's don't know if Tommy's
gonna have to fight for it we're just hoping that Tommy is getting healthy and he's
okay you know what I mean wrong he's gonna for anything I think he's going to I
think health is just gonna be the biggest issue with him I don't know I mean I love
that yeah you said even buddy Kennedy got in on the action barely five mile per hour
exit velocity off the bat let's talk about starting pitching for a second
this was the first time this year that Emmett Sheehan has gotten
past the fifth inning and that was good i meant she and six innings four earned run seven k's on
91 pitches um you know two earned on that sixth inning home run off of the bat of kyle caros which
is a little weird like it's a little bittersweet and i know that eric was in the stands i know he was there
and i hope to god he was happy for his son like he like right family family before team and of course
it's against the dodgers and he covers the dodgers he works for the dodgers but that's his boy good for you
Kyle Carros, I like it even better that it didn't affect the outcome of the game.
So I'm happy.
Kyle Caros can get as many home runs as he wants to get as long as it's, you know,
not in a winning effort against the Dodgers.
But again, back to Sheehan for a hot second.
His first time completing six innings since September of 2023 in Colorado.
So if there's someone that actually likes playing in Colorado,
that might be Emmett she or likes pitching rather in Colorado.
That might be Emmett Sheehan.
Yeah, I mean, we're really close to a fantastic out.
for Emmett. I like him going into the six there to sound like Dave for a second. The pitch count
was there. It was the right call to send him out into the six. He just, you know, gave up a dinger.
But like you said, there was already enough on the board. Even at that point, it got down to
7-4. But thankfully, the Dodger offense said, all right, let's get back to work. And they did
and put up another four runs on the board. One of the things I really do like, though, following up,
Emmett Sheehan, Bullpen, Lights out, Jack Dreyer, Ben Casperius, and
Anthony Bonda, two rookies, by the way, in there.
And then Bonda shutting it down, three scoreless innings for the bullpen.
And this, to me, is kind of how you draw it up in October.
We talked to Dave yesterday, talking about how important starting pitching is.
You need your starters to go six.
That everything else falls in line.
I mean, sure, at least six.
At least six would be great, you know, and then everybody else falls in line.
Then everyone can just kind of slide where they're supposed to be.
You know, you bring someone out for the seventh, the eighth, and the ninth,
then there you have it and you move on.
Yeah, I love this one from Alfonso.
Carras with the CP3 Homer and guys, if you know, you know,
cut the deficit down to 43 or 63, whatever that meme says.
But yeah, overall, I mean, a great game.
No complaints.
You cannot complain about this game even with your six starter going six innings
and allowing four runs.
Give me this every single day of my life.
And then you have Joe Hay going tomorrow.
That'll be fun to see him pitch again.
It's always fun to see him pitch.
And we talked to Dave yesterday exclusively here on Dodgers territory.
He was kind enough to give us 20 minutes of his time before hitting the golf course with his son, Cole.
And he said, you know what, hopefully Shohei gives us five.
And he continues to ramp up and all the things.
I love it.
So back in a moment, after a quick word from our friends at foul territory.
It's from us this time.

slash promos. Hello, hello. I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of Smart Talks with IBM. I recently spoke with
IBM's new director of research, Jake Mbata. We discussed his vision for the future of quantum
computing. At IBM research, what we always do is answer what is the future of computing,
whether it's coming up with new algorithms, coming up with better AI, coming up with quantum,
or coming up with just how do different accelerators go together.
It's our DNA to answer the question of what is the future.
Isn't it a perfect problem for IBM because you kind of need to have a legacy of building stuff?
Yes.
Building actual physical machines.
Yeah, it's why I came to IBM.
I wanted the experience, the culture of building high.
hard things that others have not done before.
Where do you imagine we are in the timeline of this technology?
There will come a point when it will mature.
Right?
My cell phone is a mature technology at this point.
How far are we from that point with Conton?

That is one that can run a very, very large, large problem.

Alana, I'm sure you, like everybody, saw the news yesterday
are really the Los Angeles Times publishing an article.
Kevin Baxter having a little fun, or I don't know if it's having a little fun.
I don't want to throw him under the bus about this.
But Kevin Baxter is somebody who doesn't cover this team on a regular basis,
and he was in the locker room at Coorsfield,
covering for Jack Harris, friend of the show.
and he published a report saying that after the Dodgers' ugly loss last night
and Tay Oscar's kind of defensive struggles that there was a meeting,
a closed-door meeting between Muky Betts, Dave Roberts, and Andrew Friedman in Doc's office
over there in the visiting clubhouse at Coors Field.
And again, the closed-door meeting with the Dodgers loss.
Problem was it wasn't a closed-door meeting.
Here's some of the quote here from Kevin Baxter or the opening of the article,
mentioning the same thing.
Mookie, Dave, Friedman, all meet in his office.
The Betts conversation afterwards was private,
but circumstances that led to it,
clearly were not with the bullpen not being the only problem,
alluding to outfield defense.
Again, the problem is that meeting was not a closed-door meeting,
and basically every beat writer kind of immediately
through cold water on it today saying,
there's always players in Doc's office
and meetings of that sort of ilk.
I guess we'll say, but Bill Plunkett was one of them.
Our friend Fabiano Adio was another one of them saying like, yeah, they're always in there.
It was not a closed door meeting.
The door was wide open for this.
What is your take on this hole?
I'm calling a Teo Gate and the seismic meeting that was not?
It's stupid.
If you go back, bring up the headline again.
And I know that a lot of times the writers are not the ones that write the headlines.
I don't know who exactly wrote and published this particular tweet.
But why would Dave Roberts, Mookie Betts, and Andrew Friedman have a closed door meeting after the loss, which featured misplays and write by Taya Oscar?
Wouldn't Tia Oscar be in there having a conversation with Dave and Andrew?
Why would Mookie Bets be in there talking about Taya Oscar her end?
It's intriguing. Kevin Baxter has it here.
No, that is so irresponsible in terms of it was not a closed door meeting.
And obviously, I was not in the clubhouse myself, but I know how the clubhouse works.
after the game and Mookie Betts and other players go in Dave Roberts office all the time as the
media members are kind of like, you know, going in there and guys are, you know, getting in their
showers and having the post game meals and all of the things. That's just irresponsible journalism.
And it's, again, it's clickbait. I don't know again. I don't know who writes the leads on these
things in terms of the highlights and those types of things. But I'm glad that Bill Plunk had said
something. And I'm glad that Fabi and our diet, who actually are beat writers for this team on a daily
basis are in there saying, no, this was not a closed door meeting. It was nothing that was private.
There's no drama. There's, you know, that's, that's just silly. So stop. Just stop.
Yeah. If you're not in there every day and you're just, you're speculating.
Stop. Yeah. I think there was probably a bit of miscommunication between like Houston. I know Houston
Mitchell. He is the assistant sports editor over at the LA Times. And he was probably given some
misinformation from the fill in this week's
fill in beat writer or whatever
maybe something was said about a closed door meeting
yeah there was not a closed door meeting
isn't journalism 101 check yourself before you wreck yourself
get more than get more than one source
get like more than I mean
wait was mookie was sorry was show hey
was show hey not on that plane is that what I'm hearing
is this breaking news yeah I think I think
I think show hay's on his way to Toronto actually
Damn it. I can't believe we lost the sweepstakes.
I mean, it's tough right now because you live in this world where, again, it is about sensationalism.
It is about clickbait. It's about trying to be first on some sort of story.
Delhi Times, Kevin Baxter in this case, and I'm not trying to throw them all under the bus.
It's a bitch of a job. But he thought he had something.
You know, he's more of a soccer, hockey guy. Baseball is a very different animal.
But, you know, a little bit of a black eye on this one.
What is important about all of this, though, is that there are issues with, you know,
Tay Oscar and his defense.
We know this.
I tried to as politely as I could tee up Dave to give us, you know, doc wash of an answer, of course,
because he's not going to throw his players under a bus.
I don't expect him to.
I would hate to have our manager, you know, kind of say, oh, yeah, Teo sucks out there.
But, you know, for what it's worth, like the newsworthy part of all of this is Dave was pretty open.
last night about Tay Oscar's struggles.
And we got this from Fabian Ardaio,
of course, is boots on the ground there,
covering this team every single day.
And, you know,
if Tay Oscar cost this game for the team yesterday,
saying he's got to get better out there.
There's just no way to put it,
no other way to put it.
It's not a lack of effort,
which is what he told us.
But the thing is,
it's got to be better.
Change the tone there.
We've got to be better.
But overall, like,
the struggles on defense.
He was better today.
And Dave also said yesterday when we talked to him that he definitely noticed a bit of more intensity with Teosca Hernandez against the Padre series.
So, you know, sometimes these series that are not supposed to be trapped series are not supposed to be let down series become that for certain players.
You know, there are just players like Nick Castellanos who admitted that playing 162 games is a grind and he doesn't necessarily get up for them.
that he gets up for postseason games for the Philadelphia Phillies.
I'm not saying that Castellanos is Teasca Hernandez or vice versa, but there was some different
intensity and Dave was the one that said it, not us.
Dave was the one that said that he noticed it and whether Teosker admits to it or not, there
was a different level of intensity and interest and the way that he went about his business
against the Padres.
So whatever happened in yesterday's game, it cannot continue to happen.
Teasca knows that.
And it certainly cannot happen in the postseason.
But for what it's worth, he was definitely better tonight.
And there are no plans, everybody, to move Muki Betts back to right field.
So you can stop thinking about that or stop talking about that right now because that is not happening.
There are no plans to do that.
Teo is our right field.
And remember, Mookie moved back to the infield to allow Teo to be re-signed.
And everybody, including myself, was screaming off of a mountain that we wanted Teasca Hernandez back.
And I did scream it.
I wanted him.
I'm glad he is.
Obviously, he's not been the same since the IL,
but I do believe as we sit here in game,
what is it today,
once 26 or whatever it is,
that he will get to where he needs to be come postseason.
Yeah, and that was Dave's tune today saying that the quote was,
I'm counting on him to improve his play out there.
I really am.
And I don't know if it's something where again,
the focus,
as Dave was alluding to or the fact is,
you know,
to asker is just,
that's not his calling card.
That's not his game. He's not a defensive wizard in the outfield. He's just got to be able to make some plays.
You know, if your glove gets on the ball, maybe secure the baseball into the glove.
You know, are you at all, like, surprised by Doc's words here on Teo? Like, do you construe this as him sort of throwing him under the bus?
He's got to get better out there? No, I mean, I think he's only saying what everyone knows. Like, he has to get better out there.
I mean, it's not like, it's not like Doc is saying something.
that we're like, what? What is this?
The Oscars, amazing.
You know what, you know what stops these types of conversations is Teo going off offensively?
If he can get back to where he was offensively, we're not talking.
I mean, yes, it might, it might come up, but we're not harping on it.
We're not putting him under a microscope or a magnifying glass, if you will,
talking about these defensive miscues because he's lighting it up offensively.
So sometimes that takes a pass, right?
If you're not doing it on both sides of the ball, that's when,
it becomes more problematic.
So no, I don't think Doc is saying anything that's like, you know,
absolutely earth shattering.
We understand that Teo needs to get better defensively.
Yeah, here's some numbers, by the way, that, you know,
the outs above average for Tay Oscar.
I mean, he's, you know, bad in right field.
He was bad in left field last year, at least by those numbers.
But like you're saying, and we've talked about this a lot on my All-Dodger show,
my buddy Jeff Snyder, who I see in the chat hanging out with us,
hit the baseball you hit the baseball that masked all those other issues that's all he got to do he had some
offense tonight he had some defense tonight and the dodgers won the baseball game so we could be
all happy boys and girls about that yeah i mean it's a good game like you got a ton of runs
emmitch sheen went deeper into the game than he's done all year teoska look teosker rather look
better defensively like i don't have any real complaints about this game at all i mean just other than
i wish it would have been coming off of another one
yesterday, you know, but it's not. We still have two more games in this series. And then again,
the test comes again, but I do believe, and I said this yesterday, too, I love the fact that we play
the potteries again so quickly. I think that's important. I think it's good that it's that close
together. Well, guys, let's take another break. We'll come back, talk about the rest of this series
a little bit more with the chat and then we'll sign off. But give us a moment. We'll be back.
FD fans. You want to have confidence when you go out in public? Absolutely. We can't all wear a

Dodgers, try to, at the bare minimum, split the series tomorrow.
And as we said earlier, we got Show Hey, Otani on the bump.
We're expecting about five innings out of showtime, if all goes well.
What are you looking to see in game three of the series?
I just want him to go five and I want him to be clean I wanted to see some swing and miss.
I want him to get out of it healthy as I always do with with show a O Tani. I feel like sometimes
he needs to be in a bubble because you're always worried you know about what's going to happen.
I need him to go five innings as we discussed but I need the offense to give him some early
run support and I need to see good defense behind him. I mean isn't that what you want to see in
every game your starter go five or six we know unless it's unbelievably efficient we know he's not
going six. So let's just have him go six. Let's have the bullpen come out and have a clean
inning. Set the tone in the middle games and finish it off in game four.
Not at all. And you should be able to get some offense on the board. Tanner Gordon going for
the Rockies tomorrow. Three and five, exactly, with a seven point nine eight ERA on the season. So it's
either going to be he tosses like five shuddy or he gets his ass handed to him like Gomber today,
who gave up seven over three innings.
I'm really hoping for that one a lot more.
Dave also said we could be in like uncharted waters here.
The expectation is that Shohei Otani will be on the bench completely in Thursday's matinee game.
You think that's actually going to happen?
I don't know.
I mean, if I'm Shohei, I'm going to be like, I want to hit here some more at Coors Field.
But on the other hand, you know, bigger picker.
picture.
Yeah, but they always say that they have to listen to Shohei and how he feels in his body,
and he knows his body best.
Yeah, that's fair.
You can't have it both ways.
You can't talk out of both sides of your mouth.
I would love to see him, you know, sit and get some rest, but I don't, I don't see
Shohay.
That's just not who he is.
That's not the makeup of who he is.
Again, it's got to be about the, you know, the sum of all of the parts together.
It can't be about one guy being bigger than the team, but we will, we shall see what happens
as far as that is concerned.
I don't know.
I'm excited.
I'm excited to see.
I would love it if they could just win the next two
and go into it with some decent momentum going into the Padres series.
Yeah, I see somebody, Michael saying in the chat,
Otani isn't the boss.
He kind of is in his own way.
He might kind of be just a little bit, just a little bit of the boss.
He's a little bit of the hefe.
He allowed that closed door meeting.
That wasn't a closed door meeting.
He said, I'll allow it.
Yeah, exactly.
$2 super chat from Brandon.
Thank you very much.
Brandon saying is Teo Chuck Knoblock 2025.
There's a throwback for everybody.
I don't think it's that bad.
And it wasn't Nubloch's issue that he couldn't throw a baseball.
Kind of got a little Steve Saxy with it.
Yeah.
I trust Teo to throw a baseball.
But, you know, maybe sometimes...
He started running better routes to get to the baseball.
And secure the baseball before he actually throws the baseball.
I got a perfect comment to send us off.
