Another podcast from some SNL late-night comedy guy, not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert Smygel and Friends.
Me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make you funnier.
This week, my guest, SNL's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel,
help an a cappella band with their between songs banter.
Where does your group perform?
We do some retirement homes.
Those people are starving for banter.
Listen to humor me with Robert Smigel and Friends on the I-Heart Radio app,

Imagine an Olympics where doping is not only legal but encouraged.
It's the enhanced games.
Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.
I was having trouble stopping the muscle growth.

On the Look Back at it podcast.
From 1979, that was a big moment for me.
84 was big to me.
I'm Sam Jay.
And I'm Alex English.
Each episode, we pick a year, unpack what went down, and try to make sense of how we survived it.
With our friends, fellow comedians, and favorite authors.
Like Mark Lamont Hill on the 80s.
84 was a wild year.
I don't think there's a more important year for black people.
Listen to Look Back at it on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
And Bobbin and I really wanted to get behind the scenes of who Dalton rushing is as an actual player.
And what we found out was just the amount of respect that his teammates have for him.
Welcome to the Thursday episode of Dodgers territory.
We are live.
That is Katie Wu.
I am Alana Rizzo.
Clint Paseas must have been punched in the eye or has a big zit on his face.
He did not want to be on camera today.
But he is, in fact, behind the scenes directing us as we get you through this next 30 minutes.
Welcome, you guys.
We are psyched that you are here.
Do not forget to rate us five stars, like and subscribe as we continue to try to make our way to 20,000 subscribers.
You can do it on YouTube.
You can do it wherever you get your podcasts.
We are psyched to keep rising to that number.
All right.
Let's get to the big ticket.
All right, Katie, just what the doctor ordered.
We kept saying that the Dodgers needed to write the ship going into this series that they just had with the Houston Astros.
Always good when you beat those guys.
They took care of it, just what the doctor ordered.
What say you?
Well, one, hello, I love a little girls episode.
Clint, thanks for all the folks behind the scenes.
But yeah, little girls day on this off day.
And the Dodgers did exactly what we talked about
and before the series.
They went in there and their offense mostly came to life,
took two out of three from Houston,
seemed to be back on track.
I thought overall, with the exception of the middle game,
great outing by Shoahe Otani on the mound,
not a great outing by the offense.
But they more of them it up.
for it on Monday and Wednesday's game.
And now I think we're all feeling a little bit better collectively about the offense,
12 runs, 14 hits, five walks, six runs scored on Lance McCullors, Jr.,
who Dodger fans are probably not all that fond of.
A three-homer game for Andy Cahas, night to see him go out there and swing it a little bit.
He certainly looked a little mad after that first homer and a lot happier after that second.
But yeah, all in all, it was a good way to salvage the trip.
They go three and three against St. Louis and Houston.
come back off day before a big showdown against the Braves.
Alana, your thoughts on the series.
I loved it.
I think any time you can go in and win a series, particularly on the road,
I've always said that, you know, win a series, win a series, win a series.
And we had continued to say that they needed to win some games, win series,
because they did not play well against teams that they certainly should have beaten,
at least on paper.
A couple of bright spots that I wanted to bring up.
Andy Pahas, I love this.
Again, this was a guy that I wanted to send to the moon last season.
And I'm so glad that I was wrong about him in terms of his development.
He is a much better defensive center fielder this season than he was last year.
Offensively, I mean, he really is carrying the load at a lot of points so far this season.
A three home run game yesterday for Andy Pahez.
I don't care Katie where that they went.
I don't care that it was a short porch.
I don't care that one was off a position player.
In the box score, it's three home runs.
I mean, in the last five games, you see the numbers there, guys.
A 529 average in the last five games.
I mean, that's pretty impressive for Andy Pahas.
And he continues to develop into a really nice ball player on both sides of the field.
I don't know how much you've talked to him, obviously, Katie in the clubhouse and stuff,
whether it's through his translator or whatever, but he just seems to have taken his game to the next level.
Yeah.
And I think this is what we want to see from some of these young players.
We get caught up on the veterans of the superstars, all of that.
But Andy Pahas is such a pivotal part of this Dodgers lineup.
And we saw him start out the year.
We knew he wasn't going to hit 400 all season long.
We knew there would be a little bit of regression.
But he went into a bit of a slump over the last two weeks,
really dating back to that Denver series that I think kind of sparked both the sickness
and the slumping for the team.
But when Andy Paix is seeing the ball well, this lineup becomes so much more dynamic
because you have a true power source in the latter half of it.
Eventually, show I Otani, Kyle Tucker, Freddie Freeman, Mukie Betts will start carrying that
offense again with the power.
But Andy Paa has brings some real slug to the second.
half of the lineup. And when you look at how that lineup is structured, you don't need guys like
Heisson Kim or Alex Freeland to bring the power. But if Andy Paaz is able to do it, it again becomes
such a more powerful dynamic. He can really be a catalyst for the second half of the production.
The slug has been down across the board. It's not fair to pin it all on Andy Paez,
but certainly a welcome site to see him start to swing it, figure it out. And yeah, I don't care
if they're short port homers. They all look the same on the baseball card. And it was very good to see
Andy Paz pick up three yesterday.
And 100%. I don't think we have to DFA Shohei Otani.
I know we were concerned.
We were concerned, Katie Wu, that we were going to have to send him down to AAA and have
some things worked out for him.
But he had his first base hits in more than a week.
Two hits for Shohei.
Is that a sign of good things to come for a guy, obviously, that we rely very heavily
upon not only on the mound, but certainly in the box as well.
I think he would certainly hope so.
And the Dodgers, of course, would like that as well.
It's really hard to make up for the production when Show Hey is not providing it in the leadoff spot,
especially when guys like, well, Kyle Tucker has looked a lot better recently.
But overall, Tay Oscar, not really feeling it.
Freddie Freeman's starting to swing it a little bit better.
But ultimately, like Shohei, you look at the OPS and it's still in the 800s and you think,
okay, yeah, that's, that's low for him.
But I think anyone will take an 800 plus OPS in their leadoff spot.
But what really kind of struck me was the walk rate.
He was walking at a super high rate.
If you throw that out, the OPS,
gets a lot lower.
And I think over the last two and a half weeks,
the lack of slug for Otani was really concerning
because that's just not who the player that he is.
And when I say slowly,
or like kind of concerning,
I say that in jest because it is Otani
and no one's worried that he suddenly forgot to hit.
But it was fair to point out
that the production was certainly not at the standards
that he thought it was.
Hopefully, I thought the swings were a lot better yesterday.
The exit below certainly kind of back that up.
Hopefully for Show Hay's case,
We've spent so much time talking about what he's been able to do on the mound, whether or not it's impacting his hitting.
I mean, Dave Roberts switching his mind and taking him out of the starting lineup as the DH on Tuesday was a clear sign that Shohei just wasn't feeling it.
All it takes, O'Alanna, as you know, is a couple of knocks and he got those on Wednesday.
So go into the off day, reset, new homestand, new show hey, let's see where it goes.
You know, and Katie, he has maintained that he doesn't think that he needs to just pitch.
He wants to be able to hit, obviously, on the days that he pitches.
And I think there might have been a little bit of, you know what?
I'm kind of pissed about this.
And again, I'm just, I'm speaking for Shohei.
He did not say that.
But I like the fact that he's so competitive that, you know, he's like, I'll show you.
And that's what you want.
You want guys to want to be in the lineup.
You want guys to be competitive or fired up.
If they're getting, you know, a day off or anything like that, you want them to fight a manager
that wants to take them out of the lineup for whatever reason.
I want to circle back really quick to Andy Paez for just a second because I want to get some of our folks in the chat involved in this.
We appreciate you guys telling us your comments and your concerns and everything.
Owl of Minerva saying, where would we be without Andy Paez?
And Navashi 1 says totally agree about Paez.
It's great to have a center fielder.
It's been a minute.
And there's some truth to that, right?
I mean, again, we're talking about the progression of what he's been able to do defensively.
But man, I'm not certain I would have thought about this offensive production from Andy Paa as based on what he did last year.
It's good to have a legit center fielder out there on both sides of the ball.
And it's I love this point because it's also one of the weakest points of the Dodgers roster with Tommy Edmunds still rehabbing from that ankle surgery without Andy Paa's this Alex Call can do it.
But Andy Paw has had the opportunity last year to really kind of take the starting center field job and run with it.
And it put him in a position for the Dodgers to totally trust him to do the same this year,
even knowing how he ended in the postseason offensively certainly wasn't ideal.
But with there's still kind of a fluid timetable for Tommy and there's not really a true 100% centerfielder.
Like sure you can put Kim in there.
But Andy Paas is the one that you're comfortable in every day slotting him in playing centerfield,
hitting lower in the lineup.
And he plays a really good center field.
I'd like to look into the metrics a little bit more defensively to see kind of the adjustments
he's made with like first step quickness,
route efficiency, jump, all of that.
But when I see a ball hit to the gap,
I get a little nervy just PTSD from the World Series.
But other than that,
I have a very good feeling that it's going to get caught
by Andy Paix.
So what he's been able to do on both offensively,
defensively, both sides of the ball
really should be commended because I think he's going to be
a critical undervalued player for this Dodgers.
Yeah, the jumps are better.
The routes that he is running are better.
I have a lot more confidence in what Andy Paas
is doing in center field for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
So that's some good news, of course.
But there was a little bit of bad news,
not terrible, not tragic,
but a little bit of bad news as far as Wednesday's game was concerned.
Tyler Glasnow exiting the game
after just one inning, Katie with back tightness.
Now the good thing is, I guess,
is that he is not expecting this to be an IL stint.
What do you make of the injury?
And where do we go from here with that?
Yeah, it's certainly scary
when you see a pitcher go out
the second inning and throw a warm-up pitch and all of a sudden shake his head.
Trainers come out and he leaves the game.
But you'll trust Glassnell what he said to reporters in Houston, including Fabian Ardaia,
our pal at the athletic, saying that he doesn't think it's going to be a NL stint.
He's worked with back spasms or works through them throughout his most of his life.
He said it's maybe because he's tall.
And to his point, he is very tall.
But didn't seem overly concerned.
Just with the back, you have to give it a couple of days.
So I don't necessarily think we're going to see Glassnow on the IL.
He might maybe get a start pushed back.
It just really depends on how he comes out of the off day reports to the field tomorrow.
But is it great news?
No, just because it really kind of put the bullpen in a spot.
But shout out to the bullpen for what they did Wednesday.
They were phenomenal.
Brock Stewart, welcome back.
Two innings.
Good to see.
But for Glass now, I think it was just more disappointing because he had such a phenomenal April.
And I really felt like he was in a great spot mentally.
The arsenal was working.
He was able to vary through his entire pitch mix.
The curveball has emerged as a true.
true strikeout pitch again.
So it was just disappointing because I wanted to see Tyler Glass now build off what was a very good April.
But in the grand scheme of things, hopefully it seems like the Dodgers dodged a bullet there.
Doesn't seem like Glassnow is going to end up on the IL.
But the next I would say 24, 48 hours will be very pivotal for that.
Here's the thing, though, too, if he does need to rest, even if it's not an IL stint, the good news is, Katie, is that Blake Snell is returning.
I know you have more on that.
But we just had this conversation a couple of days ago about what are the daughters going to do in terms of the odd man out in the starting rotation when Snell comes back at the time Tyler Glasnow was not hurt.
So we were thinking, is it going to be Rebleski that has to go to the bullpen or down to AAA?
Is it going to be Sassaki?
They've made it clear that it's not going to be Sosaki.
So I guess we get to push off that conversation at least for another couple of weeks.
When do you expect Snell back and how does it affect the rotation moving forward?
Yeah, Blake Snell is going to pitch one more time for Ontario on Saturday.
That's May 9th, I believe.
And then the Dodgers will evaluate from there.
He's slated for the five inning, 75 pitches.
That's right the checkpoint that the Dodgers want to see before activation.
So if Blake Snell comes out of his next rehab start, checks all the boxes,
you're looking at this is just kind of my math,
potentially the Anaheim series of his activation in Snell being back,
which buys the Dodgers some time, buys Glass now some time to get.
get and recover and also puts a lot of pressure.
I wouldn't say pressure.
We're going to put a lot of eyes on Emmett Sheehan and Justin Robleski this weekend
against the Atlanta Braves because while this might be able to buy the Dodgers a little
bit of time, eventually they're going to have to make a decision about their rotation,
especially with Snell coming back.
And if that is going to be, I think the Anaheim series is not this weekend, but the
following, that's about 10 days or so to really come up with this decision.
Now, a lot of the times the game will answer these questions for you.
it doesn't really do us any good to debate who should go down right here on May 7th,
when we don't really have to make that decision until around May 15th or 16th, potentially.
But it is worth noting Emmett Sheehan and the be below.
We've talked about this.
Can Justin Robleski find more swing and miss?
Can Roki Sasaki show more improvement?
These are all things that the Dodgers are going to be watching,
but it certainly makes for an interesting combo.
Of course you hope that Tyler Glass now, though, ends up not missing any time.
Yeah, it's going to be interesting.
If you just do it based on ERA, which I know that's just one factor in the whole situation,
It looks like Sheehan in terms of velocity and ERA would be the odd man out.
But again, we don't have to make that decision right now.
Brock Stewart, you had mentioned him coming off of the IL,
a score listening with two punchouts.
So that's good to see in his season debut.
And it seems like the Dodgers, Katie, are getting a bit healthier.
Kike started his rehab assignment.
You know Dodgers fans love that.
Kike's playing baseball.
And all is right in the world if Kike Hernandez is back in a semi-Dodgers uniform playing baseball,
had a start starting his rehab on Tuesday in OKC.
Just looking at we talked about this on the last show, but just looking at the amount of time he missed and the surgery, you're probably looking at about a three week rehab stint because these guys aren't going to ramp up and play a full nine as soon as they activate.
I think Kike played five innings on Tuesday off day yesterday.
He'll come back, play maybe seven today.
That's usually the standard progression through a rehab assignment.
And it's all about getting reps and getting feel.
Also, they have to have it be three weeks because he is not eligible to come off the six.
day I'll until May 24th. So the earliest that we will see Kiki is May 25th. I think if he had his way,
he will be suited up. Dodger Blue in the starting lineup by then. So it's great to see for
Dodgers fans looking for some more middle infielder's coming back. Mookie Betts also progressing
with that a weak injury. What we should have a better idea of what he looks like when we're
able to catch up with Dave Roberts tomorrow. But it sounds like we could see a little bit,
we're getting closer. We're getting closer to the more veteran infield coming.
coming back. But you know what? Shout out to Heison Kim and Alex Freeland. They've done a really
nice job filling in for Mookie in his absence. Yeah, they really have held down the fort nicely,
making the most of the playing time that they have been given in Mookie's absence. All right,

Time for our second segment here on Dodgers territory behind the scene.
and that's when Katie and Fabian Ardaya
of the Athletic have taken us into a bit of a deeper dive
into the mysterious man known as Dalton rushing.
But Katie, there is more than meets the eye
than the viral clips that have been circulating online.
What'd you learn about him?
I think this was important to do
because I think as a Dodgers fan base,
I think Dalton rushing is the type of player
where if he's on your team, you love him.
If he's not on your team, you hate him.
And as the comments on this article would show,
that is very much the case.
And look, Dalton rushing has obviously been under some viral scrutiny over the first month of the season.
But what I think is important to know is, yes, that is a part of who he is.
But it's not who he wants to be in totality.
And as we went out, Fabian and I talked about, we've talked to his old college coaches, current executives with the Dodgers, teammates, Dalton himself.
And the one thing that really stood out about who Dalton rushing is as a player is that he really cares about competing and winning.
And he is the total team player here.
I'm not saying he's perfect.
And the Dodgers have had to have conversations about some of the things that he has gone viral
for over the last couple of weeks.
But one thing that has never been questioned about Dalton is his commitment to playing good
baseball.
And we're seeing that now with his stats.
I get that he's polarizing.
And I also get that not every player can be BFFs with everybody else.
I think as a competitor, you shouldn't want that.
So while I understand that some of the optics have not painted Dalton rushing in the best possible
light, I think Fabine and I really wanted to get behind the same.
scenes of behind the seams on who Dalton rushing is as an actual player. And what we found out was just
the amount of respect that his teammates have for him. They're working with him to kind of get those
antics off of the social media clips. But they also don't want to take away who he is because
who Dalton rushing is, that edge that he brings to every game makes him the kind of player that he is.
And I thought it was really telling that veterans like Freddie Freeman and Miguel Rojas said,
like, this is who he is. We're going to support him. We have to let him be.
who he is so he can play his game, but we're going to kind of guide him in the right direction.
I think Freddie Freeman said it's like putting up bumper lanes in a bowling alley.
Just keep Dalton rushing on track, let him play his game.
But also, you don't want to take away the things that make him authentically himself.
And I think that's who Dalton rushing.
It really ultimately is trying to be the best possible player without taking away the parts
that make him who he is, even if that doesn't make him the most popular player on the outside.
I think with Dalton, it's really good that he's on.
this particular team because I think the Dodgers organization is one of the best organizations
at allowing you to be who you are and be yourself and not trying to create you or pinpoint you
into something else or some other type of personality. I mean, I would imagine his teammates have
a very different perception of Dalton than the outside world does or than other teams have of him.
Why do you think he has become, I guess, polarizing to use that as a certain word? Because he's
not the only one out there that's like ruffled feathers. It seems like this has kind of come out
of nowhere or is it just because we're not, it's just because we cover the Dodgers that we look
at it that way? I think it's a twofold question and it's a great point. Part of the reason why
Dalton rushing is polarizing is because he has established himself already as a lightning rod for
clicks. So anytime whether we're on social media, television broadcast, see this guy, they're going to
be locked in because he's already established himself as someone who is going to give those viral
moments. Fair or not fair. That's just where we are in the media cycle. And I think that's something
he's been more cognizant of seeing the backlash to some of his some of his incidents. You're thinking
about the Junkhuli in San Francisco, the Miguel Amaya incident against the Cubs. The more playing
time that he gets, the more the spotlight is going to be on him. And he didn't have a lot of
playing time last year. The good news is that he's earned more playing time. The bad news for Dalton is
that he's going to have to become accustomed to always having the spotlight on him now that he has
established himself as someone who is going to give that viral moment. And that's not why Dalton
rushing is on this team. He's on this team because the Dodgers are really believe in his long-term
future. And when you look at who he is and his pedigree, he's probably the starting catcher
for 25 teams in the major leagues. But this is just Dalton being Dalton. And it would be one thing for
me if the Dodgers clubhouse said, hey, enough. Like you can't act like this. We're sick of it.
They've really embraced him. It goes back to Freddie Freeman saying, again, we just want to keep
him on track, but we don't want to take away from who he is.
Miguel Rojas saying, yes, it's important to represent the organization, but this is also
Dalton and he's our guy and we support him. I go in the clubhouse every day and they're
ragging on him, but you do that in a way where you do it because you respect a player.
They're not ragging on him because they dislike him. They've actually really come to support
and embrace him. And Dalton's an incredible job of embracing his role also, the whole backup
catcher for the first time in his career, taking limited at bats. I think basically,
baseball needs a villain and Dalton rushing is not asking to be the villain by any means.
In fact, he's asking to be the opposite, but he's never going to apologize for how he plays
or who he is. He's been that way since he came up through the minors when he had kind of a reputation
as being that emotional guy. But if the Dodgers are okay with it and it makes him play better,
then what's to quote their opening video before every Dodgers game, what's wrong with being
the bad guy? No doubt. Does he need more PR moments? What I mean by that is does he need
more Ryan Ward moments. Nobody's talking about the fact that he gave up the start for Ryan Ward,
you know, and I wanted the opportunity to let him play. I mean, is that, I mean, Nicole Taylor,
713, Dalton just needs some PR opportunities for people to see him outside of his occasional
on-field personality. He's a chill dude. I mean, is that a situation? Do we need a meet and greet
with Dalton rushing? For each, for each Nicole, I think, yes, absolutely. We don't talk about
the Ryan Ward situation for those unfamiliar when Ryan Ward was called up for her
his big league debut in Colorado.
He got the start.
And that was Dalton rushing giving up one of his starts
so that Ryan Ward could have it.
Because with respect to Ryan Ward,
not sure when we're going to see him back in the major leagues.
And this is coming from a player in rushing
who already isn't getting a lot of playing time.
And he went up and had a conversation with Dave Roberts
saying, I totally understand.
I was going to suggest this anyway.
I want my teammate to have this start.
This means a lot to him.
But we're not talking about that on a national scope
because it's not the lightning rod.
click for viral moments, fair or not.
Again, this goes back to whether we're whether Dalton rushing is being covered fairly or not.
Like this is who he is behind the scenes.
He's not a perfect player.
Nobody is.
But more moments like that, I think paint the picture on who Dalton rushing is at inside
the Dodgers clubhouse.
He is always there for the media when, you know, he's catching Roki and we need a second
perspective.
Uh, if he's caught another, another picture and we need more background on what's going on.
He's always making himself available.
He's always ready to.
talk. Like, this is a guy again where if he's on your team, you love him and if he's not on your
team, you hate him. And that's okay. That's why I thought the, the comp that we made in the story
with AJ Prisinski friend of the show, my personal friend as well, checks out because when
AJ Prisinski was in his prime, people thought that he was the worst. But he was a great teammate
and he was lauded for his work ethic and his commitment to winning the game. I see a lot of
Dalton rushing similarities in that. And one more thing about how he's just kind of accepted in this
clubhouse. After Saturday's game in St. Louis, Dalton rushing struck out as pinch hit her to end the
game, not super happy. They had a chance to tie it there in the ninth comes down and he kicks.
We see, again, this goes back to the cameras being on him at all time. We see him kind of like kick
the air coming down the dugout steps, almost hits another player. I don't know how close it was.
It's hard to tell on the TV screen. The very next day, the Dodgers debut, their kicking celebration.
Now, Freddie Freeman said they're just simply kicking out the bad vibes. But for a player,
like that for the entire team to make a celebration that may or may not be correlated to a player
being mad just goes to show like they're going to rag on him, but they accept him as one.
So to tie it all together, it's okay if the Dodgers are on board with who Dalton rushing is
and they are. If they weren't, we'd be having a different discussion, but that's simply not where
they are. It's a matter of letting him be himself, but it's also a really great teaching moment, too,
because everything that you do on the field in the dugout
is going to be seen by somebody.
So it's a way to kind of, again,
put the bumpers up on the bowling lanes,
but show him that he's in a safe space.
When I mean by that,
obviously his teammates are there to support him.
Katie, amazing stuff by you and Fabian
really gives us a better picture of who Dalton rushing is.
I highly recommend you guys to read their story in the athletic.
All right.
Let's get to last licks.

Some call it grotesque.
Others say it's unleashing human potential.
Either way, the podcast's Superhuman documented it all,
embedded in the games and with the athletes for a full year.
Within probably 10 days, I'd put on 10 pounds.

I don't care what you're saying.
Yep, that's me, Cliver Taylor the 4th.
You might have seen the skits, the reactions, my journey from basketball to college football,
or my career in sports media.
Well, somewhere along the way, this platform became bigger than I ever imagined.

All right.
So this is Sprout.
We introduced you to him a couple of days ago.
He just went to the vet yesterday to have his skin checked and just get an overall wellness
check.
He's a good boy.
The bill yesterday was about $400.
He is in a great foster home.
So that is the good news.
But we do need some help just kind of covering those vet costs.
If you want to donate even a buck or two, that would be very, very appreciated.
Go to giddreysguardian.org.
He is currently being fostered in Huntington Beach, California.
So if you're interested in learning more about Sprout, please reach out.
Let me know.
Appreciate you guys.
Let me talk about that and trying to save another pup.
All right, good big series coming up.
The Atlanta Braves are coming into town.
The Dodgers will host them starting on Friday.
They have an off day today, of course.
Let's spin it forward and look at the series.
I really like the probabilities in this series, Katie.
So obviously Friday, it's going to be Emmett Sheehan going up against Chris Sale,
recent Syung Award winner, of course.
And then we have Roki Sasaki going up against Spencer Strider,
who has legs the size of an oak tree.
And then on Sunday, it is going to be Justin Robleski going up against elders.
So the Braves are pretty good, Katie.
They have a major league baseball high, 26 wins.
What are you looking for in this particular three game set?
Yeah, coming into the season, I wasn't sure if the Braves had enough depth and then they had some significant injuries to start the season.
And I kind of was like, oh, there it goes.
So that shows how much I know because they are a powerhouse.
Matt Olson is having an early MVP caliber kind of year.
This is a Braves team where last year I know things went off the rails quickly, but everyone from the roster to the coaches to the front office believed it was a one-off that they were going to be right back into contention this year.
And here they are atop not just the end.
NL East, but all of MLB doesn't help, or does help, of course, that the Mets and the Phillies
kind of had their little incident early on. But I think those will be a great series. And it's a good
test for the Dodgers who had not been playing their best ball against some teams that I think
they'd be considered much higher up in the standings or power rankings. You lose a series to the
Marlins and the Cardinals that you get one from Houston, which is great. But this is a good statement
for L.A. because we've talked about big tests during the season. They've had, they've been tested
a little bit more than I think fans would have like to see. So let's go see how the Dodgers pair
against the best record in baseball and especially with guys like Sheehan, Rokey,
Roblesky, obviously shoving, but the first two needed to take some steps forward in their evaluations.
The Braves were not even on our board of the biggest competitors for the Los Angeles Dodgers
in the NL as we started this season. They didn't even make the cut and here they are with 26 wins
the most in the league, certainly one of the better teams in the National League.
How about Kyle Farmer, former big leaguer for the Los Angeles?
as Dodgers, a 333 average with the Bravos.
Good on Kyle Farmer.
We're happy to see it.
Just don't let him do anything over the course of the weekend.
All right, guys, that's going to do it for us here on Dodgers territory.
We appreciate you very much.
We will be back on Monday regular time.
12 Pacific 3 Eastern Clint will be back.
Hopefully his eye, his healed for being punched in the face.
That's going to do it.
Have a good weekend, everybody.
We'll see you then.
Go, Daughters.
Another podcast from some SNL late night comedy guy.
Not quite.
Unhumor me with Robert.
Smigel and Friends, me and hilarious guests from Bob Odenkirk to David Letterman help make
you funnier. This week, my guest, S&L's Mikey Day and head writer, Streeter Seidel, help an
a cappella band with their between songs banter. Where does your group perform? We do some
retirement homes. Those people are starving for banter. Listen to humor me with Robert
