The good news first.
Surgery is not on the table, Andrew Friedman said.
So Otani will not require surgery on either the knee or the bicep that plagued him
for most of the season.
Happy Wednesday to everybody.
Our Dodgers faithful, look, and we are so dedicated.
We got Katie Wu parking in a damn grocery store parking lot to bring us the latest news
out of Dodger Stadium.
We don't need to bring up the fact that's because the Dodgers kicked everybody out
way too early.
we don't need to address it.
That's a ridiculous thing to do.
And these are my words saying that.
But, Catherine, you spent your final day at Dodger Stadium until God knows when today.
We hear, of course, heard from Andrew Friedman and a little bit from Brandon Gomes, which I always love him at these things.
Obviously, there's a lot of news.
You've got the show Hey, Otani stuff, him pitching, injury, surgery on the table, question mark, organization stuff.
We're going to get into all of that.
Just kind of the overall package of what they delivered.
What are your thoughts on,
what are your thoughts on the Dodgers post-mortem?
Yeah, let's talk about this post-mortem,
and I'll do my best to not sound like or look like I'm coming in from a different dimension.
But that's just where we're at.
The show goes on, rain or shine, car or stadium, doesn't matter.
So sorry in advance for the technical difficulties that I just assume will be coming.
Clint, best producer in the game.
This is not on him.
this is on the stability of my hot spot at the moment.
Let's break it down what we talked about with Andrew Freeman and Brandon Gomez.
Mostly Andrew Friedman, though, taking the brunt of the questions.
The biggest one, the first 10 minutes of the show was about Shohei Otani
and what the heck is going to go on with him next year.
The good news first.
Surgery is not on the table, Andrew Friedman said.
So Otani will not require surgery on either the knee or the bicep that plagued him
for most of the season.
He was prescribed.
one word, rest by the doctors after getting checked out. So no surgery. That is obvious great news
because it means that he should be on track for a normal offseason workload recovery training
program. Obviously, Clint, we don't know just how long this year's off season is going to be,
but all things considered, obviously, a major win to not have Otani go under any kind of
operation. Andrew Friedman also confirmed, and this isn't too much of a surprise because we talked
to Shohei right after he was not.
the Dodgers were eliminated, that Shoah will pitch next year.
The question is to what extent.
And this, I think, is probably a bigger conversation and much more nuanced than just your
standard, hey, here's what our plan is, here's what went wrong, here's what we're looking
forward in the future.
Andrew Freeman has said this before and he said this again today.
What the Dodgers are trying to do with Otani is unprecedented.
Yes, Otani had a, was a two-way star for many years with the angels.
the angels were never playing for October like the Dodgers were.
And the key for Otani and the Dodgers going forward is how can he do his two-way duties
while not losing the effectiveness of his overall powers come October?
We saw what happened just two weeks ago in the worst case scenario when he's not well-rested,
when he's not 100%.
He didn't pitch it all this October and he was virtually non-existent minus one too late home run in game four.
So there are lots of things on the table here, Quinn,
and we can talk about it a little bit of what the Dodgers could do.
And I thought this was telling from Andrew Freeman.
He said it's how the Dodgers do it or form a two-way role with Shohei for the regular season and into October.
They expect him to be ready for the start of spring training.
We don't know when the start of spring training is going to be.
But the big thing for the Dodgers is figuring out how, when are they going to start letting him pitch,
whether that's later in the season, similar to what they did in 2025 when he was ramped back up
injury, whether it's building him up slower, all these things are on the table. The only thing
they know is that whatever plan that they come to, whenever the 27 season starts, they're going to
have to be flexible and they're likely going to have to tweak it as the year goes on. Yeah,
I like some of the stuff that they did bring up there. You mentioned there. Andrew, very much
openly saying they need to figure this out. It's unprecedented. They need to figure it out together.
And I think there was a lot of good growth. There's a lot of learning experience, a lot of data
to pull from from this past season, of course.
We can't say that learning this data, doing this science is what specifically cost this
team a World Series, because obviously it is beyond just Shohei Otani who cost the Dodgers
a World Series or a pennant or whatever it may be.
But I think they're saying the right things.
I think for me on the surgery front, I would feel a little bit better if there was something
obvious. If it's like cleaning something up in the knee or whatever it is, whatever proved to be
worst, if it was the knee, if it was the bicep, something like that. But this just goes, circles back to
a bit of dialogue that we had for a good chunk of the middle of the season, particularly after
this knee started flaring up, which was rest him. Rest him now. It's clear that he is hampered,
whether it be on the mound where he has, in his final start, obviously posted the worst start. He
had as a pitcher on the season, but offensively, and to Andrew's credit, and to Show
Hay's credit, like Friedman mentioned, he was still playing like an MVP frontrunner into
August, into like mid-August, but there was something that changed, either something that
got aggravated that maybe could have been rested, remedied, gotten a little bit better,
with a little bit of rest. So that is one of the things that, you know, we hope the communication
is better and, you know, Katie, I don't think this is a man in Shohei Otani that if he has a two-way player
next year, which he is going to be, and it's the right call, it is a massive benefit to this
team to have, you know, an extra pitcher. But he doesn't need to be ready. He does not need to be
in that opening day rotation whenever that may come. Take it slow. You have a little bit of
homework already done from the 2025 season and how they ramped him up. And I think that
that's kind of my template you build off of and just kind of, you know, figure out what age 32, 33, 34, Shohay looks like, and however much longer he is doing, you know, the two-way role.
But overall, you satisfied with what the organization kind of put out there today regarding Shohay?
I think it's fair, especially because we don't know what the 2027 season is going to look like.
I think you're spot on, Clint.
And I think Andrew Freeman alluded to this too.
we saw the best version of Shohai Otani last October, both as a pitcher and as a hitter.
And it's fair to question, should they try to implement a similar schedule next year?
And while Andrew didn't say that specifically, he floated the idea in saying,
do we pitch him later in the year?
And I think if the goal is to make sure that Shohay is playable and at his best possible power level
that he can be on both sides of the ball in October, there has to be better load management.
And I don't think it's fair to say the dodgment into the season immune or naive to what this load management could look like.
I mean, they single-handedly formed a six-man rotation throughout most of the season, especially the first half to make sure Sho-hay was rested.
I mean, they went out and traded for Eric Lauer when Glassnow and Snell both went down, specifically to keep the six-man rotation intact for Sho-hay.
They also went out of their way throughout the first half to kind of stack the off days with a Sho-hay start day when they could, when the schedule allowed.
So they were mindful of it.
They just weren't mindful enough.
And Shoah to, to be fair to both sides, also probably wasn't honest with how he was feeling.
Now, no great player ever voluntarily takes themselves out of the lineup.
You don't become a Hall of Famer because you're sore, right?
And you take yourself out of the lineup or off the rotation because of that.
So I think there was some miscommunications, some trial and error there.
And that's to be expected when you're dealing with this for the first time.
And I think they have a blueprint of what not to do going forward.
The bigger issue that I think the Dodgers are going to have is getting Shohei on board.
Is Shoah going to be okay with potentially ramping up later in the season,
not coming out in April as a full-fledged starter?
We know the Cy Young means a ton to him.
Doesn't mean more to him than another World Series in Los Angeles?
It's fair to ask that question.
But I think the Dodgers have a good idea of what they would like it to look like.
They also know they're going to have to be flexible like we talked about.
Getting Showing on board is maybe the second half of the conversation
that we're not talking about as much.
But I guess the silver lining is, if you're the Dodgers,
you probably don't have to have a full season plan coming into February
because the likelihood that baseball will be back by then very low.
But it is fair and it is the right process to be thinking about how to prolong Otani
to make sure that he is at full strength in October.
And the most likely scenario, as we know things right now on October 21st,
is to maybe potentially push his pitching back where he's coming in as a full,
full-fledged starter in the middle of the season instead of the start. Yeah, great stuff there.
The lockout could very well do some of the Dodgers heavy lifting for them there.
So that's all the Show Hey stuff. We got a lot more. Don't worry, I'll handle this because I'm
quite certain you don't have a rundown in front of you, but I do want to make sure I tell
our friends about our friends over at Seat Geek. As you guys know, the Dodgers, they're done.
They may be done right now, but you can still get tickets to concerts. You got the Rams. You've got
Lakers. There's a whole bunch of stuff going on in the greater Los Angeles area. So why not get
yourself some tickets and go out and celebrate? Or if you want to be cool, go, go watch like the
World Series. Spend a bunch of money there. Why not? But with over 35 million download,
Seat Geeks is the number one rated ticketing app. You can get, like I mentioned,
concert, festivals, all that kind of stuff. And you know Seat Geek has your back because each ticket
is rated on a scale of one to ten. So you know you're getting a good deal. The green dots are
up there. You get a green dot. It means it's a good deal. Red dot means it's bad. And of course,
you guys know we have not that button, but we have this button. We have that code for you all.
Use code Territory 10 for 10% off your next set of tickets at Seekek. That is 10% off all tickets
with promo code Territory 10. Make sure you click the link in the description below to download
the app or you can scan that QR code. You can have the code automatically added to your account
so you can use it later. Thank you, Ckekeke.

All right.
Other stuff.
This one, I hate, I hate deeply.
Because we did something very similar.
The day the news happened, Dalton Rushing, placed on the injured list with an elbow issue.
This was not addressed at the press conference today, Maddie Lee, of course, your friend,
who covers the Dodgers for the Los Angeles Times, drops after the presser.
Dalton Rushing is undergoing right.
Elbow surgery today, the hybrid in Toronto.
internal brace procedure, which the quick not doctor's notes there, that is a kind of a normal
Tommy John with the internal brace, the collagen kind of tape thing. It's going to make him good,
strong. It's going to make them all great. But why did this not happen coming up on three
months ago? What do you know about this situation? You guys also see it on the screen. Time for
recovery is nine months. Frustrated about this one, Katie. I can see it. And you're about to be
Real frustrated with me with all of a sudden me coming in from the twilight zone.
However, we're trying our best.
The thing with Dalton rushing is, hold on, how bad is the lag?
It's actually not terrible.
Okay, okay.
Then we'll go back to the drawing board here.
With Dalton rushing, we knew this.
And I think it was both sides saying, you know, there's a chance that surgery won't be necessary.
Can we have Dalton back as specifically a bat off the bench and maybe keep our fingers crossed?
he can catch again.
But this to me seemed like the most likely course of action.
And I can't blame Dalton or the Dodgers for maybe wanting to do the less invasive option.
But I'm kind of with you, Clint.
I mean, this was not really a surprise to hear coming out of the press conference,
because especially after his setback where in the middle of September,
he played for four games and then had the same issue,
it just seemed like surgery was the only option to get him right.
And the bigger deal is that if Dalton isn't able to catch him,
for the next nine months. Well, that leaves the Dodgers without a backup catcher.
A good thing they traded for Hunter Fedusha, who is now guaranteed essentially a spot on the
roster next year as they wait for Dalton. Yes, spring training, the lockout, all of the things.
Anytime we talk about next season, we're going to do so with a little asterisk. It's fine.
I get the frustration, and there's plenty of hindsight is 2020. Should he have gotten surgery
earlier? It's easy to say now, now that he is getting surgery, that of course he should have done
that, but I think the doctors were kind of caught off guard with the timing of this,
and that's why they scrambled at the deadline to get both Ben Wirtbitt and fiducian back,
because they were hoping this wouldn't be as severe as it seemed.
Ultimately, though, surgery was required.
I'm going to try and show you this, Clint, because it's maybe my favorite new account.
You can follow at Tommy John's surgery on Instagram.
And this right here is how I was able to really confirm that Dalton rushing had Tommy John.
And that Dalton rushing is a little bit underwater, but,
Yeah. So there he is.
Was the surgery already performed or is it set?
Do we know that much?
I think he was supposed to undergo it today.
I have not followed up yet to just see how that went.
But the reporting that we've seen and how we've talked to said it was supposed to be today.
Well, you were too worried about getting thrown, literally thrown out into the rain by the Dodgers organization while you're trying to do your damn fine work with the athletic.
And then obviously, you're much less important work here with this show.
Um, again, initially, no, you guys are important to me.
This is Dodger territory.
Hell yeah. Hit that subscribe button.
May, man, man, man.
Um, all right, I want to be pissed a little bit more on this.
So again, he was placed, originally placed on the injured list August 5th.
We are, as you said earlier, to spoil the mystery live on October 21st.
There is no mystery to that one.
But that day, uh, I forgot where you jumped in from, from a stairwell, uh, you know, on the road.
I was screaming from the rooftops, get this done now, because anytime you can get a bonus,
in this case, nearly three months in this Tommy John surgery, it is huge.
The nine months, you know, tentative return right now is the maybe end of July.
It could have been maybe been April, end of April, could have maybe been end of May,
which, yeah, they are in a good spot.
The tandem of Will Smith and Hunter fiduciusia is not problematic to me, even slightly.
one of the other things I had also argued about then are kind of brought up is there is going to be a lockout which means the club and the player cannot communicate and there are important steps in your rehab from a Tommy John that he will not be able to necessarily communicate with his organization about he's not going to have it's going to affect where he can rehab how he could rehab and they could have gotten a three-month start all of this to try to force maybe a
a couple of pinch hits in the postseason.
It felt weird to me.
I think they botched this.
To your point, Katie, I understand why Dalton would be like, no.
I don't want to do that.
I want to try to play.
But now, you know, heading into next season, whenever that may start,
he's going to be more of a all-star break trade deadline acquisition at best.
The nine month, that is, you know, the short end, obviously as a position player,
does not need to build up to 100 pitches on the mound.
But it's still, it's something where he could have been available earlier in the season and
kind of ready to go.
So I do wish they, they always should listen to me is my point.
Everybody should.
That's like the moral of this podcast.
Listen to Clint.
Yes.
I like that.
Yes.
And the people should listen to me when I say hit that subscribe button.
We're trying to get the 20,000 subscribers.
Moving on.
Maybe if we get 20,000 subscribers, I can get a better internet connection.
and our wonderful subscribers now don't have to deal with whatever the hell this is.
I'm sorry, guys, I'm trying my best, but the rain is stopping, so maybe that will help.
Storytime. One of my favorite things back in my Dodgers Nation days is the day they signed J.D. Martinez
was a day my good buddy, Doug McCain's wife, was giving birth to their child.
He ran out of the delivery room to jump into his car in the parking lot at the hospital to
drop news about the Dodgers signing
J.D. Martinez. And to this day,
Douglas, if you're watching this, you know that was a good video.
Video did numbers.
That, you know what? The dedication
to the job, I will never question.
Wow. Shout out Doug.
Yeah, yeah. And the good thing is, you know,
his lady. She gets it. She's good people.

All right, other things, those are the biggest kind of things.
Obviously, anything else the organization is going to be thrown about Terrick Scoobel.
That was pretty much a nothing burger.
I'll give you a floor to talk about that.
You know, the Mark Walter situation obviously kind of is going to be not front of mind for people,
but it should be on the top of somebody's mind somewhere.
They said it's not going to affect business at all.
And then I think it was you who had also asked about, you know, kind of changes in the
organization expecting the status quo. What's kind of, uh, we'll eventually get to the DePaula.
And I do want to focus on scoble for the people here. But what can you tell us about like kind of
just some of the other takeaways in terms of, you know, organization stuff and, and the
Mark Walter situation, what you heard from them. Yeah, I mean, there, there wasn't much that
Andrew or Brandon could really say other than the logistics. You know, they don't expect any
coaching changes. Status quo is what Friedman said. A front office changes should stay.
the same. He also, you know, said that's business as usual when it comes to spending. He talked to
Mark Walter shortly after the Dodgers were eliminated. There are a lot of things at play here that make
this Dodgers offseason, really everyone's offseason, so much more complex to predict. The financial
uncertainty into ownership and the federal investigation there. And then, of course, the pending
expiration of the CBA, whatever the heck, a potential salary cap floor system, which I don't think
will be implemented. Check out our episode last week or Monday for more on that. All of you
these things are just a bunch of question marks that make every like you it's impossible to speak
in absolutes right now if you're the dodgers yeah someone just got very close to my car okay
anyway the the big takeaways for me is the dodgers are still kind of dissecting the downfall of
this season uh they've they've talked about the age of their roster they've also said like hey
this is not something that randomly snuck up uh snuck up on us we knew that our roster was old
but i thought it was interesting that freeman kind of pledged his allegiance to
the caliber of the talent of these guys under contract.
And while I believe the Dodgers do need to get younger,
I think that's a lot easier said than done.
So much of this core, with the exception of the retired Miguel Rojas
and the free agent to be Kike Hernandez,
is under contract for at least next year.
Can they try to infuse youth on the margins?
Yes, and maybe this is a good way to introduce the Jose de Paula
discourse here, because that seems, I think,
from the fans' perspective, the easiest way to bring youth into this lineup,
But as much as this is a pro JDP podcast, we would be naive to say that he is 100% ready for the big leagues on both sides of the ball.
Does that bat play at the major league level?
Absolutely.
He had some of the most exciting at bats, low bar in October.
But I think, you know, from just what we've seen in the two to three weeks sample size, he's a big league hitter.
The problem, the Dodgers already have a designated hitter for the foreseeable future.
And nobody is unseeding Shohei Otani, obviously.
So the only way DePaula can make this active roster is if he turns up the defense.
And this is something that Brandon Goames touched on.
And I thought he was actually pretty spot on.
And in terms of the defense needs to be better for DePaula, for the Dodgers to justify
giving him an everyday spot.
And DePaula knows that.
They don't want to discredit what he did in the off season.
He made the 2025 season, 26.
It's 2026.
They don't want to discredit the 2026 season, the strides that he made in the minors to
improve in the outfield.
But he still has a significant weight.
to go. And I think a lot of that
gets forgotten about because we are
rightfully so excited about what the bat can do.
But again, the Dodgers
need DePaul it to be good on both
sides of the ball. And the bat
right now is not yet to the point where they can
sacrifice his defensive ability because
they don't really have the roster flexibility to
do that. So I'm not even sure
if JDP is a lock for next year's roster
until he kind of contributes
and shows more defensively as exciting
as he is. So how can the
Dodgers bring in youth outside of
DePaula outside of their farm system in which everybody in their top prospect system plays the same
position. That's a great question. It makes me feel like, and this is just my speculation here,
a reunion with Kike Hernandez does not seem logical at this point. If you're trying to add some youth,
the easiest way to do that is maybe free ups and spots for Alex Freeland to play more consistently,
go shop for a utility player who is a little younger. They love the Swiss Army knives. They love the Tommy Edmund types of players.
But it's no given to me that DePaula makes this roster.
next year, regardless of how exciting of an early debut he's had, simply because he needs to be
better defensively.
Yeah, I appreciate it.
I think it was Brandon who said he needs to work on becoming not just an average or passable
and above average defender.
They have played each of the last two years with a below average defender in right field,
and this year a below average defender in left field.
And you can argue that at times it costs them.
You could argue that maybe in game, what was it, game two of the NLCS?
a different left-fielder gets to that baseball down the left-field line.
But for as much as we love Tay Oscar Hernandez, there is a clear need for youth, athleticism.
With DePaula, they do mention the strides he made year over year.
Let's not forget, the kid is 21.
He has a long way to go, and we've talked about this on my All-Dodger show a few times already in this early off-season.
Andy Pahez was very, very far from the...
I guess we can call him elite defender that he is now in center field.
It took time.
As a 21-year-old, 22-year-old, he was a chubby outfielder that was maybe trending towards being a DH.
At best, you might be able to hide him in right field because you knew he had an arm.
He put in the work.
He put in the time.
And he became an incredible defender in center field.
And that was another one of the things that the front office brought up, the fact that, you know,
the silver lining of having to essentially call up Hostway to Paula this year.
is he got eyes on how these professionals, how these superstars, MVPs, all stars, how they put in their work day-to-day.
It's not AAA.
It's not AAA. It's not single-A where you get to go just F around and show up.
And it doesn't matter how you do in the outfield because you can hit.
Here, defense wins championships.
Defense makes a difference.
And he saw how they work and you know he's going to carry that into the offseason.
He's going to be putting in that work.
He's going to grind another victim of the lockout and not be.
being able to necessarily work with the organization as closely.
But, you know, good fix for that.
They can just, the Dodgers can fire Jason Hayward.
He's a free agent.
He can go work with them and then they'll rehire him in the offseason.
But JDP, high hopes.
And I imagine, Katie, he enters spring training.
You know, hopefully that starts in February or March.
He enters with a chance to make the opening day roster.
That's all you can do.
Dave says it's a meritocracy.
Competition in spring training will be.
be good. They are far from handing him the keys, but yeah, hopefully he keeps on making those strides.
Any other thoughts on JDP or follow on that? No, I think that's pretty much it. And, you know, I do expect
to Oscar Hernandez, again, my speculation to be floated around there similar to last offseason as a
potential trade candidate. Other than that, there are some additional redundancies, Alex Call,
given how he didn't make the DS or the CS roster. That seems to be redundant position. I expect
the Dodgers to be in the market for any big free agent that includes scubel because they always are
but it's fair to question just what is that going to look like because of the CBA we're going to get
so tired of saying that and i think there was a big kind of nothing burger about the about if the
dodgers are going to bring scuba back that's pretty standard for every MLB front office executive
because they don't speak on free agents they don't comment on them and while scubal is not a free agent
yet technically we all know he's going to be so anytime there is a big that i've learned this
in my first year in Dodger land.
Anytime a high impact,
top of their talent player,
is available, whether it's trade or free agency,
expect the Dodgers to be players.
All we can really go off of right now,
despite the uncertainty of all the money,
things that we're already tired of talking about,
is Scoobel seamlessly fit
into this clubhouse. I saw it on an everyday basis.
He really enjoyed his time here.
Of course, he's not going to speculate on his future
at the end of the season, fresh off an elimination.
That's bad feel. It's understandable why he didn't do that,
but I would firmly expect the Dodgers to be players in his market.
The bigger question for me is what is Scott Boris going to do?
Is he going to want to guarantee a deal before a potential salary cap floor system
limits the earnings of his client?
Probably, is he going to push for a deal before December 1st?
Probably are the daughters going to bite on that?
We'll have to see.
Yeah, yeah, great stuff.
I do appreciate also what they added, what Andrew added,
and that they're going to be, it's the company line,
going to be aggressive in trying to increase championship odds.
That's what they do every single year.
And that's what you saw your very first day on the Dodger beat
when suddenly was that Edwin Diaz is signing there.
Literally two hours on to the beat.
I was like, oh, God.
I'm not ready for this.
We love that.
Again, they said all the right things.
This wasn't for us that have been here for the last five years
watching, covering this team, all this kind of stuff.
Obviously, I've been around longer for that than that,
but it didn't have the same tone, the same misery that we had after 22 and 23.
I think they said the right things.
And as we talked about ad nauseum, they got beat by a better team in the NLCS.
This team does not need a lot of help.
It needs just a little bit of a tweak here and there.
And they're going to remain competitive for the next three to five years.
Unless, you know, they really go crazy with whatever happens in this CBA.
The battle for every yard.
The chase for the end zone.

Oh my God, Lexi.
We have a new podcast.
It's called Don't Lie to Me.
I'm Lexi Iwano.
We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart.
And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one,
which means we have wildly different references,
occasionally different opinions,
and at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all.
I'm not going to get anyone fighting.
That is wild.
I learned that about you today.
Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes,
good taste is my business,
and I've always got something to say.
If men were just honest about this,
there would be so much more peace in the world.
We're going to talk about dating, relationships,
beauty, getting older, and a little wiser.
We're best friends, but we don't always agree.
Because you told us how accommodating you are.
Obviously, I would do what I think I could do
to fight the fight, but there's only so much fight I can fight.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Don't lie to me.
Liar.

this and then we'll get you back on the road. One of them from our friend actually, Latino Slant,
but $2 from him saying,
Kite, it's raining here in L.A., drive safe.
If you guys don't know, you really need to watch the whole show there.
If you know, you know.
499 from Showtime, L.A., asking kind of about the Tay Oscar situation under contract for one more year.
Will the Dodgers have to eat more than half of his deal to move him and thanking us for the work?
We appreciate you Showtime.
I don't think half the deal.
Do you happen to know his contract offhand?
this feels like something I should probably know, and you're not in a position to look up.
It's 17-5 next year.
I don't think they need to eat that much.
At the top of my head?
I don't think so.
But if, you know, Tiosk is coming off a season or a career low in full-season homers,
there are some injury concerns.
He's certainly not the defender that, you know, is going to go change an outfield for the better.
Could be a DH somewhere.
Could be a DH somewhere.
Or if the Dodgers want to sweet in the pot, they have so many prospects that they can add in there
where they don't necessarily have to.
eat it. If there's one organization though that I'm not really concerned about eating money-wise,
it is the Dodgers with all due respect. Yeah. If they're going to do something that is in the
realm of eating money, they probably want to do it sooner rather than later before what again,
whatever happens with the CBA. We got a series of show hay related things before we sign off
the Enigma 499. Just a statement more so than anything. Baseball is entertainment. Show hey pitching
is very entertaining. Agree. It's one of the best starters in MLB. Agree. And they'll use them until they
have to stop. And yeah, and they kind of did this year and didn't help their chances necessarily.
He adds with another 499 super chat show chasing the Cy Young. Everybody said that he was chasing
the site shot. Sai Young, he said it as much, probably true, but I think he enjoys being a starting
pitcher. He sees himself of a starter as a starter. And Katie, you heard him say this on the rare
occasions he was put out to speak to reporters. Like, and even before then, it is not a well-guarded
secret that he very much enjoys pitching.
And he's going to, he's going to try to do that.
He might even, like, if you're talking about potentially Shoah giving up two-way player
duties, I think he would give up hitting before he would give up pitching.
Yeah, that's why I feel so, I don't know, unsure about the Dodgers might have a plan for
what they think is best, but is Shoah going to be on board with that?
That dude goes into another level.
We've seen it when he's pitching.
It's the most, he's not a really demonstrative kind of.
a guy when he does show a lot of emotion, it's either a big postseason Homer or he's on the
mountain striking someone out letting that emotion fly. He loves to pitch. So that's why I feel like
the Dodgers might run into a little bit of a pushback from Otani. Although I do think at the end of
the day he's going to want to do what's best for the team. It's fair to question how much he's
willing to give up even a little bit of pitching because he didn't seem all that inclined to do that
this year. Very much. Very much did not. The final one, this is a 1999 super chat from
300 GJW has their last thoughts on show hey, you know, regarding the injury appears not structural.
So it's injury management.
This will most likely occur again next year when he does double duty.
Of course, we know he had the knee injury in the past.
In 2019 he had this.
If he, okay, pitching heavy low, la, blah, blah, well, anyways, there was a question at the end of what are our thoughts on trading for Gunner Henderson.
I don't think you're in too much of a position to want.
want to address this. This was a name that we had thrown out on my other show. If they are going
to get real creative and look to move mooky bets to second base where he probably eventually
will end up in his later 30s. Gunner Henderson could be a great buy low, trade low, kind of
offset some salaries, sort of guy. Dodgers got some outfielders. I think the Orioles need some
outfielders. I don't know. The Orioles need a lot of things.
Yes, they need a lot of things, specifically a lot of help.
I don't see this right now.
I think that Andrew Freeman, he said as much today, is very content with running this core back.
He understands that, you know, it's not going to be the exact same team.
But given what we saw out of these guys for the last three years, I can understand wanting to keep this core intact.
He also doesn't really have much, that much of a choice because they're all under contract.
But you'll be hard pressed to find players.
You'll be able to find younger players for sure.
But players that are this consistent, this locked into the Dodgers.
and able to kind of transition this era of the dynasty to its second wave, if you will.
That to me seems like what 2027 is for.
The unique aspect of this, though, is that the Dodgers can do that.
They can do a transition year, if you will, while still being one of the best teams
and having one of the highest likelihoods to win the World Series in 27.
It's not a rebuild.
It's not anything else that most of these resetting teams do.
It's the Dodgers are so good that they can continue to transition into the next wave of their
dynasty while still being able to finish out the first one.
Hey, we want them to be slightly less good because they always lose when they win
a hundred games.
But 99, 99 win season incoming.
That's where you got to be.
Guys, we appreciate you hanging out with us on this, this rainy car edition of the show.
Appreciate Katie.
Whoa.
