Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm Daniel Alarcon, and this is my friend, is much more famous than I am. I wouldn't go that far, but I'm John Green, co-host at the podcast The Away End with my old friend Daniel. On our podcast, The Away End, we'll share with you the magic of international football, all leading up to the 2026 World Cup. Together, we'll find out why, of all the unimportant things,
Starting point is 00:00:19 football, soccer, is the most important. Listen to the Away End with Daniel Alarcon and John Green on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. When you feel uncomfortable, what do you put on? Biggie. You put on Biggie when you feel uncomfortable? I want to get confident.
Starting point is 00:00:37 This is DJ Hester Prynne's Music is Therapy. A new podcast from me, a DJ and licensed therapist. 12 months, 12 areas of your life. Money, love, career, confidence. This isn't just a podcast. It's unconventional therapy for your entire year. Listen to DJ Hester Pryn's Music is Therapy on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts,
Starting point is 00:00:59 or wherever you get your podcasts. Then she says, have you seen a photo of my son? And I'm like, who is this person? Welcome to the Boys and Girls podcast. Arranged Marriage is basically a reality show and you're auditioning for your soulmate. And who's judging? Only your entire family?
Starting point is 00:01:17 I sacrificed myself to this ancient tradition, hoping to find love the right way. And instead, I found chaos, comedy and a lot of cringe. Listen to Boys and Girls on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. I think they really need that a day off today, Thursday, reset, go workout at Roger Center, and just kind of remember who the fuck you are. What up, everybody?
Starting point is 00:01:55 Good afternoon on this fine Thursday, October 30th. It is Hallows Eve. Is it not? Halloween is tomorrow. That is Clint Paseas. I am Alana Rizzo. We are your host. We are presented by Fox 1 and we are psyched that you are here.
Starting point is 00:02:09 It has been a few hours before we get into the nitty gritty. Thanks for being here. You guys, like us, subscribe all of the things. You can do it, of course, on YouTube wherever you get your podcast. We're trying to get to 15,000 subs. It really helps us tremendously. If you could do that. If you're already here, thank you.
Starting point is 00:02:27 If you're not, tell your friends. I guess if you're not here, you can't hear us. But if you are here, tell your friends that are not. All right, Clint, it has been a few hours. You went to bed pretty late last night, as did I. a lot to think about, but I'm still feeling okay. You called it blind faith. Maybe it is.
Starting point is 00:02:45 But what do you take away from yesterday now that the Dodgers, in the big ticket, sir, have their backs against the wall? Yeah, you know, we had a night to sleep on it. And it's a Dodgers. They're a good team. They ran into a little bit of a buzzsaw with Traya Savage. I am thrilled this team is going on the road. I love that long flight to Toronto. I love getting the boys out of L.A., getting them on a plane, workout.
Starting point is 00:03:12 If they have any sort of BS going on in that clubhouse, figure it out on that long-ass flight across the country, across the continent. I think they really need that a day off today, Thursday, reset, go workout at Roger Center. And just kind of remember who the fuck you are. That's what this team needs to do. They need to wake up. You know, I argued yesterday, or I talked about just kind of the crowd being a little out of it, the team being a little out of it as well. We'll hear more from the team a little bit later. But there's this feeling, I think, in my opinion, there is this feeling that when this team is playing in L.A., they're trying to give the crowd something to cheer for.
Starting point is 00:03:55 I love going on the road with the idea that they are trying to take the crowd out of it. I think this is the right time for them to head back to Toronto. What are you kind of feeling after, you know, put in the head on the pillow for a little bit? Well, I certainly don't think that they're trying to, you know, be the showman at home. I just think that the offense needs to get going. I mean, you take a look at the numbers and it's pretty bleak, right? And I'm not taking anything away from Trey Savage. What I'm saying is Trey Savage has held the Dodgers $1 billion top of the order in check.
Starting point is 00:04:28 I mean, if you look at the top of the order, you can see it here from Jason Stewart. 0 for 10 was 6Ks against Trey Yassavage Clint who's not pitching like a rookie. I mean, this guy has what, nine or 10 outings under his belt. You see what Shohay's done, nothing. You see what Will Smith has done, nothing, Bets and Freeman, in terms of the outings against Trey Yassavage. So this is more of a Trey Yassavage is better than most people thought he was. But this is also, this is a group of guys collectively that needs to get it together
Starting point is 00:05:00 because their backs are against the wall. Now, Shohei Otani has certainly had his moment. Freddie Freeman has had his moment, too, in an 18-inning game. But what happens if Freddie doesn't win that game? This series is over if the rest of the games have played out the way that they have. So it shouldn't take 18 innings to be able to, you know, to beat this team. Now, again, the Blue Jays are much better than we thought, why are you laughing at me? I'm just laughing at the idea.
Starting point is 00:05:29 It's like, yeah, no, they. it shouldn't take 18 innings to have won that game for either team to be honest. I had said on that show, you and I were texting while we were both surviving that 18 inning affair. Nobody wants to lose that game, but damn, nobody wanted to win it either. Nobody was ready to reach out. Yeah, you know, but credit to the Blue Jays, they lost that. That's a gut punch. You and I talked about that when we went live for post game and I was sleeping in my dog bed,
Starting point is 00:05:57 waiting for the game to finish. We talked about what a gut punch that must have been for Toronto. Like after 18 games, all of that. You use a million pitchers and we're waiting to see which position players coming into the game. And then, but to give them credit, they rattled off two straight wins after an 18-inning gut punch there. But I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:06:19 And Clint, I think Kike Hernandez agrees with you too in terms of this team is looking forward for the day off today. They travel, but whatever. They're not playing today. And getting back on the road and kind of resetting. Yeah. You know, on that 18 inning game, the further we get away from it, my opinion is I think that 18-80s game kind of kicked there. The Dodgers asked more than it affected the Blue Jays, if we're being honest.
Starting point is 00:06:47 To the Jays, I think it gave him something to kind of galvanized them a little bit. It gave them something to battle around. Like, look, we just went, you know, 50 rounds with Ali. and here we are, we're still standing. What did you say? You live to fight another day. That's one of my favorite lines ever in Friday. They live to fight another day and shit, are they taking advantage of it?
Starting point is 00:07:10 And yeah, absolutely, it's not all the Blue Jays. Last night I gave them a lot of credit, but the Dodgers, the Dodgers have been asked in this series. The Dodgers have been asked for a lot of the postseason. I've said we swept under the rug for most of this postseason, the fact that the offense has been bad. They just really have not shown. up. They have done just enough to win ball games, but we have talked so much about them leaving
Starting point is 00:07:33 opportunities, leaving runs on base, really. Just, they're not capitalizing, especially the way we saw the 2024 Dodgers in the postseason capitalize on every team's mistake. Well, this, you know, the Toronto Blue Jays team, as Chris Taylor so elegantly put it, you know, they're not going to shit down their own leg like the way the New York Yankee. Yankees did last year. Yeah. So this is this is where we're at, you know, that that's kind of a reset. That's okay. Because it is a reset, but you are the glass half empty. I am the glass half full, blind faiths, call it what you want. But let's, before we hear from the players, Clint, in our next segment after a break, what is your reason for optimism? I'm going to start with starting
Starting point is 00:08:19 pitching. You got a guy on the mound that I think, and you have been his biggest fan all season long, you got to like your chances with Yama on the hill on the road. Yeah, he's been electric, starting pitching 100%. That's where you go to. Give me ours over theirs. Kevin Gosman was great in his outing as well, and I'll bring the chat in here. Guys, keep it, keep it fun, keep it clean. If you're going to troll, make it fun as well.
Starting point is 00:08:44 But Yama has been electric this postseason, and he loves these big moments. They brought him out late last night after the game because obviously you need to have your next day's starter available, your next game starter available to media before that game. So one of the questions Yama was asked that I overheard while packing up after doing our somber-ish post game last night was, you know, you seemed to rise to these big occasions sought last year in the postseason in the World Series. You've seen it in the WBC, saw it in Japan.
Starting point is 00:09:15 And, you know, the blood gets flowing for Yamamoto in this situation. So to have him, to have the Dodgers season on the line heading into game. game six. There's nobody better. Hands down, I will die on that hill. And if Yamamoto can't win, at least we win out with our best. And then you head into game seven. You know, you'd said it's Johnny Holstaff. You should have Shoah Otani available. You're going to have Tyler Glass now available. There's no way show hey. It's not. Yeah. Expect show Hey to start that game because obviously logistically, he needs to remain the D.H. So if he's able to go out there, give you three or four innings.
Starting point is 00:09:53 I don't want to extend him past that just because I need to keep his bat fresh as well. Correct. But give me Shohei, back him up with some innings from Tyler Glass now. And then everybody else, for the love of God, be on your A game there. But back him up with some good bullpen outings, but back him up with some run support. Okay. Yeah, that would be nice. That would be critical.
Starting point is 00:10:18 You know, and I don't for, let's look at game six for just a hot second, six, seven. Let's look at game six, seven for, oh, man, I can't get, I can't, there go, six, seven. Don't, don't, don't be that. There we go. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. By the way, that means nothing. I just learned that from my kids that, obviously, I'm not, I'm not cool.
Starting point is 00:10:34 So whatever, the point is what I'm trying to say here, I know, oh, for sure. The point is what I'm trying to say here is that Yamamoto should not be expected to throw another complete game. That would be three in a row. And Mr. Derek Jeter, Hall of Famer, did not think Yama was going to come out and throw the second complete game in back-to-back postseason appearances. For the love of God, let's not make him throw a complete game. Would I take it? Sure.
Starting point is 00:10:59 But let's provide him some run support. Let's do that. That would be really, it's going to be great. Yeah, it turns out you actually need to hit to be able to score some runs. You shouldn't require your starting pitcher to go. This is not Sandy Kofax era. This is not Don Drysdale. You don't need them to go out and throw up a one or none type of game for you
Starting point is 00:11:21 win a postseason game. It feels like that right now. Hopefully, again, hopefully the flight can reset these boys, get the offense going, just get good vibes going in that clubhouse because it just did not seem like a happy place to be. It seemed very uninspired yesterday. It seemed like, you know, after, of course, when you give up two home runs on free pitches, you're like, holy moly shell shock type of situation, right? I was too.
Starting point is 00:11:47 I like barely sat down. And I was like, what the frick? Yeah. But I feel, you know, you got it. You still, like you said, remember who you are, right? And the Dodgers are playing a little bit more tighter. That's not correct grammar. The Dodgers are playing more tight.
Starting point is 00:12:06 The Blue Jays are a little bit more loosey-goosey, if you will. All right, much more to talk about. We're going to hear from the team, of course. We appreciate you guys. Get your thoughts in the chat. We're going to get to those momentarily. Thanks for the super chats, everybody. We're going to be right back from after our.
Starting point is 00:12:20 friends with a word from our friends speak English at failed territory. Do the best the best words. The old card experience was a slow burn long grind, right? Find the box. Find the pack you want. Open the pack. Most of the cards, nah. Right?
Starting point is 00:12:42 You got one. That's worth something. Now send it in for grading. I mean, the list goes on and you want to sell it. Now you got to put it up. then you got to ship it out. There's one solution for that, and it's called Arena Club. And it's just on a click of a dime.
Starting point is 00:12:56 You get on your computer, you type in, get the Arena Club app, go on there, type in, put some money in and type in exactly what kind of cards you want. And voila, it's a great experience. And I think that's what people miss nowadays, the experience, the excitement of getting a new card. You never know what you're going to get, an autograph card, anything you could think of. Really cool stuff. You can get 20% off your first slab pack or card purchase at a, arena club.com slash foul. See what gets Todd Fathers so excited.
Starting point is 00:13:24 When he gets that digital slab pack, it's like butter, baby. Butter. Come check this. IHeard and TikTok have come together to create something new. I love it. Where the world of TikTok meets your playlist.
Starting point is 00:13:36 Three words that will change your life. IHeart TikTok radio. The biggest hits across IHeart Radio. What's trending for you on TikTok? Tell me a sound that's better than this. Plus TikTok's most influential creators all in one place. Search for I hard TikTok radio. Make it a preset and stay connected all day.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Gotta love them. All right. Welcome back to Dodgers territory presented by Fox One Clint. And I were just talking about the perceived optics of the team, right? The perceived optics of the clubhouse. And Clint, what do you think is that pulse of the clubhouse? If you had to put your finger on it, they're kind of saying a lot of what we were saying last night, like just a little bit flat, right?
Starting point is 00:14:28 Yeah, the vibes aren't generally there. It's as a flat team. It's a, you said heading into the break, you know, play a little loose. I think of Chubs Chubbs Peterson on, and Happy Gilmore. He's attention, baby, you know, like you got to have a little bit of fun playing baseball. I'll tell you one guy who's not having fun playing baseball, that is Marcus Lynn Betts. He's doing that thing he does where he kind of like gets into a shell. He is so deep in his head right now when it comes to his struggles.
Starting point is 00:14:57 Let's hear from Mookie for a second who was not happy with his current level of play. And then we'll come back and kind of digest that. I'm Camp, but I don't want to speak on anybody else. But for me personally, I've just been terrible. I've been terrible and there's no, I wish it was from lack of effort. I really do, but it's not. So I don't have any answers. How do you kind of get somebody back on track who, again, does not have answers, as he's saying?
Starting point is 00:15:31 I don't know. I feel like in the regular season, you have much more of a runway naturally than you do in the postseason. Of course, they have one game to figure this out, right? They have this today and then they have tomorrow. Obviously, momentum early will be huge. Hopefully it's another one of those situations just that's like, you know, what he was saying when Brianna was like, quit looking to everybody else, like look within yourself. Maybe that's another conversation that Brianna has with him and saying, listen, like, you can't do what got you there. You know?
Starting point is 00:16:01 I mean, he's had, he's, Mookie's had a really good year. But when it matters the most, I kind of feel like, and correct me if I'm wrong, you're better with the dates. But was 2003 when he mightily struggled in the postseason and kind of was like, I feel like that's where he is again. I feel like last year he was a lot better than he was in 2023. This makes me feel a little bit, a little reminiscent. of how much he struggled offensively in 2003, but it's also magnified Clint because nobody around him is doing anything either.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Yeah, that's absolutely. The whole office is so laxadaisical. Yeah, that's absolutely the big thing. It's not just the big names, it's not just show hey. Obviously, show hey, like statistically he's having a very good postseason because he has one game where he has multi-holmer's and like five hits or whatever. And then he's not really doing a whole lot around that. But then you look at, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:52 Buki struggling. Freddie not having the best postseason max. Tommy Edmund is having an abysmal world series. Will Smith is having some moments here and there. But again, in totality, you're looking one through nine. You're not seeing a whole lot of, you're seeing a lot of ones and zeros and fours and fives and the at-bats. And not even enough walks as well. You credit, obviously, Toronto there. And they gave a lot of credit to Trayy Savage for filling up the strike zone.
Starting point is 00:17:20 Some people want to argue that if he's filling up the strike zone, you've got to be able to capitalize and hit those pitches. But he was filthy. The dude had an asty, disgusting splitter going last night. You're a thousand percent right. Here's a couple of things, and I want to credit MLB Network research for this. They have a tremendous research department. I worked there for eight years and they're, or excuse me, for six years and they're solid. Trey Savage's 12K set the single game rookie season in the World Series.
Starting point is 00:17:44 His 12Ks were the most by any pitcher, you guys. Any pitcher in World Series history who didn't watch. a batter. His 23 whiffs were the most in any World Series game since tracking began in 2008. By the way, the Blue Jays have scored 100 runs so far this postseason, just one behind the record shared by the 2002 Angels, Clint's favorite team, and the 2020 Dodgers at 1001 each. So you have really good pitching by Trey Savage and others, but really Trey Savage is the the pitching hero in this series so far for Toronto. But you also have key hit in the In big situations, runners in scoring position, laying down a bun, moving a guy over,
Starting point is 00:18:25 getting a home run when you're, you know, a three-run home run from Alejandro Kirk, you know, Dalton Larshow coming out of nowhere. They're just, they're getting the big hits when they need to, and they're shutting down a very good offensive team in the Dodgers that doesn't appear to be good offensively right now. Yeah, you know, this is a good chat right here. And there's people, we appreciate you hanging out in the chat. We're going to get to as much as we can. We'll be here with you, y'all, y'all for a little while today, a little vent session.
Starting point is 00:18:50 but Maddie Man 5 Dodge says nobody wants to hear how good their pitcher was. His team spent a billion dollars. Maddie Man 5. Wait, wait, Maddie Man 5, throw that back up there. Maddie Man 5 Dodge, what's your handle, sir? Maddy Man 5 Dodge 101. I told you guys this. Money buys really good players.
Starting point is 00:19:11 It buys you an entree, if you will, to be French. In the postseason, it does not guarantee wins and it does not guarantee titles. So you get the players, you get really good players, but you don't guarantee wins. And again, so much of this has got to be grit. It's got to be effort. Not to say there's lack of either. It's definitely not lack of effort. There's got to be everybody playing at the very minimum at their talent level, some at some over their skis at the right time. So yes, and by the way, it's not like Toronto. We're not talking about the pirates. Okay. Toronto has the fifth biggest market in terms of baseball market, TV market, revenue share market in the big.
Starting point is 00:19:55 So out of 30 teams, they're in the top five. Okay. So it's not like this team. They just gave Vladimir Guerrero a $500 million deal. This is not like a team that's not spending money either. They're just playing a better brand of baseball at the moment when it matters the most. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, you nailed it all there. Toronto Blue Jays are very good.
Starting point is 00:20:14 What I wanted to get out of that chat was, you know, people online love to talk shit when you give a reason or you, the Dodgers are struggling. What is the causation? Well, this is, there's X, Y, Z, you know, there's the Vescia situation. I'm sure that is absolutely shell-shocked that, that clubhouse. There's the 18-in-game, all of that. And then people be like, oh, stop making excuses. Like, what the fuck do you want?
Starting point is 00:20:47 This is a reality. It's not an excuse. This is the fact, something, what is it? I can't think of the goddamn words here, obviously, but equal and opposite reaction,
Starting point is 00:21:03 whatever, everything gives you a reaction. For each action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Thank you. You're so smart. You do good words. I think I screwed that up too,
Starting point is 00:21:13 but I understand what you're saying. I mean, it's not making excuses. No, it's not making excuses, but perhaps it is a reason, Okay, and I understand. Nobody wants to hear excuses. I get it. And that's why we're fans, right? Like, again, we wanted to go, you know, 162 and O. And then we would have loved to have had home field and not have to do the wild card and just go 11 and O in the postseason. And there you have, right? And send everybody else to Cancun early. But that is not the case. But maybe there is something to be said about having this day off. The reset, Clint, you said it, get away from home. Kike has some thoughts about what needs to happen. We are, it seems like at bats are snow pulling on us right now.
Starting point is 00:21:54 We, um, getting pitch to say it, we're missing them, and then we're expanding the zone with two strikes. I think the best thing that can happen for us is a day off, you know, to find, get a day to regroup and, you know, figure it out. But as a group, it's time for us to, you know, show our character and put a fight, put up a fight and, you know, see what happens. Fight? I mean, I wouldn't say that it hasn't been enough of a fight. It's just last night we were a little bit flat. And then tonight, you know, three pitches into the game, we were down to nothing. And, you know, he was on.
Starting point is 00:22:32 The Yves was on. That slider was really good. And, you know, hitting creates energy. And we haven't, we weren't getting hits. So we weren't really doing whatever it took to, you know, find that energy. And, I mean, it's tough right now. but I think I think we're going to be all right. Last year's team dug out against San Diego.
Starting point is 00:22:54 Is this your team capable of the same thing? Yeah, for sure. I think we're a more talented team that we were last year. And we found a way to, we found our way to do it last year. And I thought we were in a bigger a hole given the situation with the pitching staff last year. So right guy at the right time on the mound for us in game six, you know Shinovoo. And it's time for us for the offense to show up. me ask you this really quick. Is it as simple Clint Passius as C-ball hitball? Is that the approach?
Starting point is 00:23:25 I mean, is it a matter of just breaking it down to the bare necessities? Yeah, I think you need to go out there and play the game of baseball that you learned how to play as a kid. I said it, you know, heading into game five, find some grass, do the little things well. advance the ball, advance the runners, play for that run, that kind of stuff. Don't worry about your swing. Don't worry about your mechanics. You have the talent in there.
Starting point is 00:23:56 I saw somebody also in the chat earlier, bring it up. Can we get J.D. Martinez to Mookiee immediately, by the way, I think just those kind of vibes. By the way, it sucks to see Kike. That's Enrique Hernandez. That somber, that downtroddened. Yeah, but he also can't be, like, bouncing around like he normally is.
Starting point is 00:24:13 It's just disrespectful to the, I mean, read the room, right? You can't be acting like a silly man. But I did love what he was saying, that it's like, you know what? We just, we have, I love his comment about showing their character. Yeah, that's huge. This is a team that I think, like you said before, we'll have a bit of a, a bit of a reprieve, a pause as they fly to Toronto and figure it out. And again, it's a matter of remembering what got them here and remembering that they're the, they were the heavily favored team coming right, wrong or indifferent. They were the heavily favored team for a very wrong.
Starting point is 00:24:45 variety of reasons. See what happens, you know? Like, it balls to the wall tomorrow. That's all it is. Like, that's what you got to do. So maybe it's C-ball, hit ball. Shake it up, change something. I know a lot of these guys are superstitious,
Starting point is 00:24:59 maybe just a little stitious, whatever it is that you are. Yeah. You know, it is Johnny Holstaff tomorrow. And one of the things I like that he had brought up that we're also going to hear from Freddie about is that series last year with the Padres. The Dodgers have been here. They've been with their backs against the wall and an emotionally charged series.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Obviously, it was different emotions with the Padres last year. But they had to win two games in a row to advance. You said last year, we said that was going to be the biggest series for Los Angeles. That was a world series. And honestly, and to my not credit, because I got it wrong, I thought the Phillies were the hardest team the Dodgers were going to face this year. I thought if they got through the Phillies, they'd be better. I thought the Phillies were last year's Padres,
Starting point is 00:25:48 not to take anything away from the Mets or anything like that. But, you know, obviously I was incorrect because they held, they handled their business against the Phillies better than they're handling their business against the Toronto Blue Jays at this time. But this is where you need the big guys to step up, right? Vladimir Guerrero Jr. playing in his first World Series, Clint, slashing 415, 506, 831, 8 home runs, 15 ribbies in 16 games. He has an RBI in almost every single game.
Starting point is 00:26:16 He has 12 walks and just five strikeouts. And again, they're doing this without George Springer, who's obviously available tomorrow. I don't know if he's going to be in the starting lineup, but John Schneider has said multiple times he's available to come in and pinch hit. And they're getting it from production of guys that are maybe not as well known. This is obviously a Dodgers team that has a lot more notable names, notable faces, more MVP's, those types of things.
Starting point is 00:26:45 But I would like to hear from one of those MVP's in terms of Frederick Freeman about his thoughts moving forward after the game five loss. Freddie, ahead of the game, we talked about the offensive struggles. When you guys see a game like this, four hits, the only run was Kike's home run. I mean, was it something that Trey Savage was doing, or is this something that the offense is just missing right now? It was 180 on his command from the first game. He had everything working tonight. But again, still got to put some runs on the board and do a better job. And we just haven't done that for about two and a half games.
Starting point is 00:27:19 You guys have been in this situation before, backs against the wall, looking to win this series. I mean, you're obviously not out of it. What is just kind of, is there a conversation as you guys travel to Toronto to find a way to get things going? I think it speaks for itself that they just played a better game than us tonight. balls and dirt they're on. Guys in scoring position, they're getting them in. They just pitch really good too.
Starting point is 00:27:43 So they just outplayed us today. I know it was like the regular season when you guys were struggling, hitting. But like what did you learn from that point of time that maybe you can apply to try to turn things around for game six and seven? We all know what we're capable of and we haven't done it for two games.
Starting point is 00:27:57 So maybe day off, we'll cool them down over there and we'll reunite us. Is there a carryover all? or is that something that where it's just they kind of responded better to the last couple days? They just played better baseball in the last two days. I don't think anybody's thinking about a game two days ago. I mean, it's just plain simple. They just play better than us today.
Starting point is 00:28:21 There's a lot of character on this clubhouse. What do you like about this team to lean into? Yeah, I mean, we faced this last year. We were down to one to the Padres and won two games in a row so we can do it again. A couple takeaways from that. And listening, I'll fix it on the podcast. edit of it, but folks listening on the YouTube side, sorry, the audio is a little low on those. It's, again, they're not over here being like, hey, we lost the game.
Starting point is 00:28:45 But a couple takeaways from it, and this is why I kind of had that thought and that thread that I love them going on the road is Freddie said maybe a day off will cool them, cool them off and reunite us. I think that's a, you know, that word was used. Yeah, that was the piece to take out of that. You're right. Yeah. And then beyond that, you know, we were behind to the Padres.
Starting point is 00:29:05 We can do it again. And obviously that's just kind of baseball wash. They're going to say that. Of course they're going to say that. I mean, oh my God, we can't win, whatever. But the reunite us. I'll say it again. And I didn't really want to say it online just because I think it not that the Vesias are going to watch this show.
Starting point is 00:29:24 I don't want to put any sort of pressure on the situation, but less about him not being available, more about the gut punch. Like I said earlier, I do think that absolutely. that knocked the wind out of this team sales that is a massive obviously we don't know everything that has gone on the team has not released anything so you know still thoughts and prayers going their way but um on on the eve of the world series to for all of that to happen it's just it's devastating for this clubhouse and i think it's a gut punch in two in two regards i think it's a gut punch not only in that's your teammate that's your brother that's your you know they love each other that
Starting point is 00:30:06 That's one of theirs. That's a family member that's going through what we can only imagine is an unbelievably difficult time when the Dodgers release a statement that says with heavy heart. And then it says they're dealing with a deeply personal matter. Again, I'm paraphrasing here. I don't have the statement in front of me. But the point is, you know, it's a pretty heavy situation, whatever it is. And again, we're speculating.
Starting point is 00:30:28 We don't know. I mean, I can guess, but I'm not going to. So that's an emotional gut punch and an emotional void. Then on top of that, you realize that you don't have one of the best arms in the bullpen at your disposal. You're missing out on a guy that has thrown an unbelievable amount of quality innings for you, not only in the 2024 postseason run, but also this season leading up to this World Series. So it's a, it's a tall hill to climb on two fronts, the emotional element of it and the actual baseball element of it. It's like how do you maneuver around that without one of your best arms at your disposal?
Starting point is 00:31:11 Yeah, it's, again, tough, just tough up and down for this lineup and for this clubhouse. And that's one of the reasons why I wanted to kind of address the idea of excuses and people not ever online, just not want to accept the idea that there is a cause for something there. And people will be, oh, no, don't make excuses. It's like, no, that's a reasonable excuse for that to happen. And I agree with you say. That's a brother. That is your family, especially when you spend as much time together as this team has. This year and over the last two years, of course, they are brothers, you know, together in this, you know, bonded by this goal to win a world series and be there for each other.
Starting point is 00:31:55 And for him to have to pull out of this, you know, in this spot, that's a tough blow. It's absolutely tough blow. But, you know, Dodgers. again, let's make it about the series. They have been there before. They have done this before. Baseball-wise, I hate to say it. I love this series.
Starting point is 00:32:15 It's setting up to be an all-time classic, especially. Like seven games is huge for baseball, the brand, the sport, the people, maybe getting people into baseball, new fans playing the game. I am here for it. And I hope it goes to seven, and I hope ultimately. You know, we are the ones raising that. I hope it goes to seven now because I would prefer a Dodgers opportunity to win that. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:32:41 That gives you the opportunity to raise that piece of metal, you know? Right. But it's like I think that's the best two words in all of sport, right? Game seven. There's nothing more. I mean, there's nothing better. Like there's nothing better than a game seven do or die must win situation. And that's what makes the sport so special, especially the culmination.
Starting point is 00:33:02 I mean, of course it would come down to game seven, right? I mean, the sport that has the most amount of games in all of the five majors comes down to a game seven after they've already played, you know, 162 in the regular season. Some of the teams have played 11 in the post, perhaps if you're lucky, you know, obviously the Dodgers and the Blue Jays and 13 for the Dodgers if they ultimately get to that point in terms of wins is what I'm talking about. So, all right, we are going to wrap things up here on Dodgers territory momentarily after a word from our friends at foul territory. Starting point is 00:35:04 Promos. All right. Welcome back to Dodgers territory presented by Fox 1. Wrong one. Appreciate her being a part of it. That's okay. No, there's lady. There she is.
Starting point is 00:35:20 This is our last lick feature. Her name is Lady. She is a three-year-old Charpe and cane corso mix. She was forced to live outside, basically 24 hours, seven days a week. And her family neglected her brutally. The situation is that we were able to. able to finally get them to surrender her to us after many, many requests. They were very hesitant to do so, but they obviously were not taking care of her. And good thing we got her when we did,
Starting point is 00:35:45 because we just found out that they moved away and God only knows what would have happened to her. She had some pretty bad skin issues because, again, neglected. But she's on the mend, you guys. She's looking great. She's healthy. We're getting her spade on the seventh. And we could really use some donations for the vet care. She's not 100% ready to be adopted yet. because we want to make sure she gets spayed and that it was successful and that she heals and all of the things. But we really could use some help with the monetary side of it. So please consider a dollar makes a difference, truly. Gidreysguardian.org for more information and to donate.
Starting point is 00:36:22 So appreciate you guys. Let me talk about that. And also. Oh, gosh. Yes, yes, yes. Thank you for this. We are within the last 24 hours to be able to bid on this prize package. George and Claire Kittle and Sarah and Trent Taylor.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Now, Trent and George Kittle play for the San Francisco 49ers. They were kind enough to donate two tickets to Monday night football. The 49ers host the Carolina Panthers on November 24th. That's the Monday before Thanksgiving at Levi Stadium in Northern California. You get two tickets to the game, two sideline passes. George Kittle is signing a football for us, and every single cent of this, we don't take any profit of it at all. Every cent goes to dogs in need like lady. So please consider bidding 32 auctions.com slash NFL MNF for Monday Night Football.
Starting point is 00:37:13 We appreciate it very much. All right. Don't forget you guys. Yes, she does. Yes, I do run the rescue. We don't have a staff. I don't take a profit from it. I've never taken a dollar.
Starting point is 00:37:23 But yes, I started the foundation in July of 2019 when I was still in California. And we've been going six years strong. So yes, I do. By the way, guys, don't forget you can support the show with our merchandise. The Dodgers Territory Shop is open. Click on that QR code. Go to Dodgers Territory Shop.com. It supports Clint.
Starting point is 00:37:45 It supports Alana. It supports our show. We appreciate it very much. Clint, what is coming up on your show, All Dodgers with Clint Hesias? Yeah, we didn't go live last night. Somebody said we were too soft to go live last night. Well, one, I was tired at the stadium. And two, my buddy, Jeff wasn't feeling.
Starting point is 00:38:04 all that hot, but also we had the thought. Like, there's just not much to add after Dodgers territory. I mean, it would be regurgitating the same talking points. But today, again, renewed sense of worth and purpose and misery, something like that. So we will be live this evening, probably 8.30 Pacific time on all Dodgers with Clemsies and Jeff Snyder and maybe Kevin, if he's there, taking voicemails, but it's really a state of the Dodgers show. How do we feel heading back to Toronto?
Starting point is 00:38:32 And can they extend this thing to seven games? And more so are they going to finish a good version of the storybook of this season? You know how much I like to say? Baseball is all one long novel and nobody likes a happy novel all the way through. You got to have some turmoil and strife. But hopefully our heroes get a happy ending. And not for nothing. There's a lot of chapters within that story.
Starting point is 00:39:02 right and a lot of us are walking in on a chapter there was a quote one time from an NBA player i don't remember who it was i apologize but it was like don't think you know my story based on the chapter that you walked in on you know or don't think you know my entire story based on on the chapter that you started to read so it was very deep very deep here on dodgers territory but a chapter is ending climp pacius for a guy that his next stop is the hall of fame and that would be clinton edward kershaw who was soaking it all in last night this from the mbx account clinton kersh taking it all in with his family for the final time at Dodger Stadium. Really strange to think that the next time we are at Dodger Stadium or, you know, the team is
Starting point is 00:39:42 Clayton Hirschild will be retired. This is probably not the last we're ever going to see for him. I mean, obviously he's got to be there for the statue unveiling because I'm assuming that they're getting him one at some point. You know, but congratulations to Clayton on an unbelievable year. Hopefully he goes out on top again with another ring, but he won't be pitching at Dodger Stadium anymore unless it's a ceremonial first pitch. What do you take away from that?
Starting point is 00:40:04 I really, really wish a couple of things to take away. I really, really wish they would have given him one last win at home. That would have been nice. It would have made me feel good. It makes me feel good that I did see his final ever time pitching at Dodger Stadium. And it came in a Dodger victory. He got a massive out in that 13th, 12th inning, 11th inning, whatever it was. Bases loaded.
Starting point is 00:40:29 But just gratitude for having. having watched all 18 years, all 20 years of this guy's career as a professional, but 19 years, I think it was. But 18 seasons in Dodger Blue. You know, he's a guy that I've run into a number of times at the stadium. I don't have the type of relationship with him that you have. For me, it's more of a thank you, Mr. Kershaw. And when I get a chance, I'll tell him, thank you, Mr. Kershaw. But I need this team to go out there and win 13 games because that means we get to see Clayton,
Starting point is 00:41:02 Kershaw one more time at a parade. That means we get to probably see Clayton Kershaw come back home to get his ring during ring ceremony day. All the reasons to get 22 back in L.A. I am here for it. Otherwise, we don't know the next time we're going to see him. So, um, yeah, I don't, I don't anticipate Clayton being, uh, around much. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:41:22 I don't, this is not a guy in my opinion that's going to be, you know, a special assistant to the blah, blah, blah, blah. Like Clayton is going to raise his almost four kids and he's going to be dad and he's maybe coaching in Texas or whatever. I might be completely wrong. I don't know, but Clayton's not a spotlight guy. Clayton, I just don't see him doing that. I think he's changed, man.
Starting point is 00:41:41 I really do. I think he's changed as he's gotten into his, you know, later 30s here, has gotten later into his career. I think he enjoys it a little bit more. I think he's going to eventually miss being around dudes at the ballpark. Is he going to be a coach traveling with the team? Hell no. Is he going to be a broadcaster traveling with the team?
Starting point is 00:41:59 Hell no. But he's going to find some capacity to, be involved with this ball club. Maybe it might take a year or two. But, you know, another thing you mentioned, him not being at Dodger Stadium, just it'll also be the first time that Clayton Kershaw is not at Camelback Ranch
Starting point is 00:42:15 since that place is opened, which is wild. He was the last thread connected to Vero Beach, spent his first couple spring trainings there. That's right, because Kenley's gone, and that was it. Kenley and Kersh. Congratulations, Sirch. Wicked, wicked proud of you.
Starting point is 00:42:30 Congratulations to him and to Ellen. how emotional Ellen was in that, and that inning that Clayton pitched. And I've never been to an induction at Cooperstown. I've obviously been to Cooperstown in the Hall of Fame. I've not attended an induction. Clayton, I might find myself on a lawn chair, not invited by him, of course, but just there. And binoculars? Yeah, yeah, just to kind of witness greatness go into Cooperstown. So, hey, before we sign off, you want to hit a couple of our super chats here? I appreciate the people hanging out with us. Let's hit them all. Let's hit them all. We got time. Terry Hesdickles, great name, $499.
Starting point is 00:43:02 If we don't win the World Series, I'll be at peace knowing Michael Goodfordo won't be winning a World Series. Oh, man, is that necessary Terry Hesdickles? Hey, hey, you know what? We need a little levity at a time like this. Levity is funny, but man, I'm going to send that guy a razor, by the way. All right, so. I see what you did there.
Starting point is 00:43:22 Francisco Diaz, our boy, $9.99, super chat. What worries me is I've seen something I thought I'd never seen last night, and that's the Dodgers gave up. I don't know. After being down, too, oh, there was no fight. So as a fan, my confidence is shook. He has shook us to the core.
Starting point is 00:43:35 I don't know if they gave up the fight. I just think optically, it looked like they were like shell-shocked. So hopefully that doesn't happen again. They definitely have to have a little bit more fire under them. What's up? Robin Sabatella, my girl, what's up? I love her. So just so you guys know,
Starting point is 00:43:50 everybody that is a part of Gidreys Guardian Foundation, Mikey Sabatela, is the guy that does all of, our social media graphics. So we appreciate Mikey very much. His wife, Robin, is a huge, huge Dodger fan. She needs Xanax, apparently, over the course of this series, because we're all stressed out, right? True fans, never stop believing. Let's go, Dodgers. Robin, what's up? By the way, Aria is their daughter. She's a Girl Scout. She's a sweetheart, one of my favorite Girl Scouts. All right. So what else? Louis Scalante, Luis Escalante.
Starting point is 00:44:23 Two dollars from Luis Escalante. Like their manager said, they just won one game. Just won one game. Yeah. Talking about that 18 inning game, they only won one game. And, you know, it felt like two, though. That should count as two in the ledger. My back says it felt like two. Shelly with 499 asking, what do we think the Dodgers should or will do to get the offense going?
Starting point is 00:44:47 We saw them try to change up the lineup. Didn't quite work out. Not that I expected, you know, Will moving up to the two whole, mookie down to three and Pah has being sent to the moon for a game. was going to make a huge difference. But the best thing they can do and should do to help the offense is start hitting the baseball, finding some grass, you know. One of the things Kike said. It sounds obvious, but it sounds obvious.
Starting point is 00:45:12 But yeah, see ball, hitball. What is it? You don't have to hit a seven run home run every time you're at the plate. Like, you know, do what the at-back gives you. And hitting is contagious and winning breeds. And scoring and winning creates chemistry. So they'll get that going real quick. If they're able to somehow find a way to put up a three, four, five spot early in the game against Kevin Gossman.
Starting point is 00:45:37 I think those are called crooked numbers. There you go. Put up a crooked number. I love this one from earlier, Coach Mitch saying the boys need to be on the road. Took two in Philly, took two in Milwaukee, Yoshi and the Bats, wake up and get it done. Otani gets the last six outs in game seven. I don't know they go. Otani gets six of seven.
Starting point is 00:45:56 By the way, Yoshi doesn't need to wake up. Yoshi has been woken up. He's woke, okay? He's woke. I can't. Last year I was with Alana when she said we need that asshole at the top of that, right? You need that guy that's like you need the Joe Kelly at the top of the steps in the dugout. It doesn't, it seem like we're lacking this leader again.
Starting point is 00:46:20 You definitely need a loudmouth mouth piece to just like get them fired up. You know what I mean? And it might not necessarily. be a guy that's in the lineup. You know what I mean? You need like a Kiki that's yelling, but don't take Kikee out of the lineup, please. Yeah. A little something.
Starting point is 00:46:35 You need like a, you know, like the bullhorn guy, the megaphone guy. That's what you need. A hype man, if you will. Let's go. Somebody to give like some mim, me, me, me, me, me. You know what? I'll do it. I will do it.
Starting point is 00:46:49 Okay. You'll take one for the team. Like you'll sacrifice yourself and stand in the Dodgers dug out at the top step. It'll probably just be me yelling a yell. a lot in the corner going like, ask me about my weena. You know, like something like that.
Starting point is 00:47:02 Levity. Mike Lopez with $2 to stop pitching to Vlad Jr. I said this since game three. Yeah. I know. You can throw out. We can, we're also allowed to throw up four fingers.
Starting point is 00:47:12 Doesn't have to be just against Shohei. I'm okay with Walkin' Vlad. Yeah. I'm not, I'm not opposed to not, especially with like a runner on. You know, don't,
Starting point is 00:47:24 don't let, do we call them Big Daddy Vlad? That's Little Daddy Vladdy, right? Don't let him beat you. Don't let him beat you. Guys, appreciate you guys hanging out with us in the chat. The Dodgers have won their 11 games this postseason and thus far have forgotten that they need to win two more
Starting point is 00:47:41 to make it 13 wins as a wildcard team. We need something out of this offense. You can't rely on a complete game shutout from Yoshinubu Yamamoto to send this to game seven. The bats better wake the F up. Yes, indeed, what he said. guys, thanks so much for being a part of this. Don't forget, like, subscribe. We're trying to get to 15,000 subs. We appreciate you very much. Clint and I will be back tomorrow. Game 6 post game. Clint will be home.
Starting point is 00:48:08 I will be home. Hopefully we're talking about Forcing a game seven. Thanks for being here, you guys. Go Dodgers. We'll see you tomorrow. Bye. I'm Daniel Alarcon.
