Starting point is 00:00:00 Kentucky can count on bourbon, basketball, and 975. WAMZ, Kentucky, Anna's number one for country. Hey, it's Rachel Elliott, and we never take for granted that you make us part of your day. That's why we make it a point to play your favorite country. Whether you're starting your day off with the Bobby Bone show, making your workday go a little faster by hanging out with me on the job, or dealing with that Gene Snyder traffic on the ride home with Corey Calhoun, you can count on us for the best country music in Kentucky. In Louisville, you can catch us on the radio dial at 975 and anywhere on the Iheart radio app. The people who give you a ticket for parking on your own damn street, you can go straight to hell or straight to hell. I'm going to say, where are you pointing?
Starting point is 00:00:37 And the other ones, the bobblehead resell assholes, they can go to the moon. That's where I'm at. That is the most of this song that I have ever heard, and I love it more every single week. What up, everybody? Welcome to Dodgers Territory. We are live with you for the next half an hour. We are your host. That is Clint Pesias, my guy.
Starting point is 00:01:00 I am Alana Rizzo. Don't forget to like us. Subscribe. rate us five stars. We're so happy that you're here. We would be happier if you told your friends, your neighborhood, your mailman, everybody to like us, subscribe us. We appreciate you very much. Clint, good to see you. By the way, before we get into it, just a programming note. Dodgers territory is off on Monday because it is Labor Day. We'll be back on Tuesday at 12 p.m. Pacific. Let's get to the big ticket, my friend.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Oh, man. So was it a World Series preview in your mind? The big bad Baltimore Orioles coming into town one game behind the New York Yankees in the A.L. East coming to town to Los Angeles, two very good teams going head to head. What's the biggest takeaway that you had? I don't know. The reality is, yeah, it should be a World Series preview. I didn't look at it. I'm not looking at it that way. I think mostly because we enter this series knowing that Walker Bueller's starting one of the games, Bobby Miller's starting another one of the games. So it's not the Dodgers throwing out their best guys. However, it's also the guys. that they have later on in the show of course we're going to talk about about glass now we'll probably
Starting point is 00:02:10 have some yamamoto talk in there that said um decent little series we got going on here rubber match tonight with bobby miller going up against i forget who so i apologize there but uh fun game though yesterday in los angeles show hey otani going off teoska hernandez our guy going off uh by the way why have we not extended to asker yet like what's going on here i don't know i don't know why we haven't. I was waiting to how long it was going to take you to actually extend Teo, what, six seconds into the show. Juan had this to say, Shohei Otani, Teasca Hernandez did their thing. The bullpen also stepped up for the Dodgers who get a six to four win over the Orioles. They are 79 and 54. Once again, it's been my MVP all season long. Teosker Hernandez.
Starting point is 00:02:55 I know Shohei is going to win the MVP as he should. But as far as the team guy for the entire season to have this team at 79 and 54, it's Teo. I think we've said it a few times. I know a lot of people share the same sentiment. I do not know where this team would be without Teoska Hernandez in that lineup. He's just a steadying presence of a veteran. He has a knack for those big moments. And my God, that home run was a lot of fun. The whole visuals around it,
Starting point is 00:03:23 Max Muncie in the background waiting, just kind of dropping his arms watching this baseball fly, him turning and watching Tay Oscar with a 10, I mean, it was an 80 grade bat flip. from Teasca Hernandez on that long dong there to bail out Walker from a rough start. Not so much his fault, but we got to talk about Shohei, though. Of course, it was Shohei Otani Knight at Dodger Stadium. Was it ever?
Starting point is 00:03:49 I mean, he's just ridiculous. He continues this torrid pace that he have. By the way, check out his stats in just the month of August, Clint. Has 10 home runs and 14 stolen bags in this month, the only other player in nationally history to reach both those marks in a single month, Carlos Beltran, who did it back in August 20 years ago, 2004, he had 10 home runs and 16 stolen bases. So, I mean, there's still a couple of games left in the month, right? So Shohei could even surpass that.
Starting point is 00:04:16 I mean, this is a guy that good Lord, I mean, already at 42 and 42, that's huge. I know it's like, okay, what is happening there? Yeah, so 42 and 42, that's just insane. He's going to hit 50-50. There's still enough games left. Yeah, I mean, I, the 50-50 watch, I think that's something fun. I think it gives us a lot. Not only do Dodgers fans actually have a pennant race to watch,
Starting point is 00:04:40 something they haven't really had to deal with since 2021. You also have a 50-50, you know, he could set the all-time franchise record for homers. He can become the first ever 50-50 guy, which I argue far, far in a way, is much more impressive than a 40-70 season. And I don't care that he's not playing a defensive spot. But this month, you mentioned it, the 10 homers, 14 stolen bags. It's kind of odd because it's been a very strange month. We talked about it, I think, a week or two ago.
Starting point is 00:05:08 He wasn't really hitting, but everything he was hitting was going a very, very long way. Still hitting 238 this month. But man, is he making it count? 24 hits, 13 of those for extra bases. Of course, the 10 homers. And then seven walks in there adding to that 14 stolen base total. And like you said, he's got a couple more days to pass. add the stats, if you will, and add to that MVP campaign. But it's very fun to watch.
Starting point is 00:05:37 Where's the 50-50 in your kind of, you know, your view? How do you feel about watching this? It is impressive. I think if he gets to 50-50, it's a unanimous lock for National League MVP, and I'm with you, I don't care that he's a DH. This is a guy that is doing things that we have never seen before. And as much as I appreciate what Ronald Ocunia Jr. did last year with the 73 stolen bags or whatever the hell it was in 43 home runs. I think that what Shohei is doing on a first place team in the National League is so unbelievably impressive. And not to mention, you know, he's still rehabbing trying to come back and pitch next season, which I can't wait to see that. But here's what's funny that you say about patting the stats in August.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Ken Rosenthal, who does obviously a tremendous job, we had a conversation this morning on Fair Territory. He went back and looked to make sure that Shohei wasn't stealing these bags in situations that didn't matter, right? situations where the Dodgers had a 10 run lead, then you're just stealing a bag to steal a bag to pad your stats and not saying that Shohei would do that, but Ken, you know, looked into it. And he found that most of the games have been so close that he's not stealing a bag for the sake of stealing a bag. He's stealing it to advance a runner to get to runner in scoring position or whatever it has, you know, whatever it has to be to get this team to get the wins.
Starting point is 00:06:51 And that's even more impressive to. He's doing it in big moments, moments that matter for the team. And not for nothing. Remember, when Mookie went out, Shoah got moved up from the two-hole to the lead-off spot, and he's been so unbelievably impressive in that spot, too. So, yay, Shohay, but all I really care about is Decoy. I'm not going to lie. I could talk about this dog for 30 minutes of this show.
Starting point is 00:07:13 This was the coolest first pitch I have ever seen in my life. Yes, I'm biased. Yes, I love dogs. Yes, I love Shohay, and yes, I love the Dodgers. But Shohay trained Decoy for three weeks on this. I mean, this dog, but would you expect anything less from Shohei Otani? I mean, Shohei Otani does everything perfectly. So wouldn't you expect his canine companion to be perfect to?
Starting point is 00:07:37 Listen, you know, Shohei, Teosker, they were the stars of that game. They were contributors, I'll say. That was the star of the show in L.A. last night. Decoy Otani. You know, I often overstate that I have the most perfect little good bowl. here in my house, my dog Odubby. But decoy suddenly given my guy a run at my, we can't get our dog to bring the ball back to us. He likes to chase and run away from us.
Starting point is 00:08:07 The fact that Shohei was able to do that while also throwing up a 40, 40, 42, 42 season and all of the other bullshit from earlier in the season he had to deal with. And then he's got this perfect dog that knows how to bring him a baseball and also the weight and the high five. The high five push me over the edge. The high five pushing over the edge. So I see the first pitch, right? And then he like, he drops it perfectly, by the way. He, you know, he runs down. He throws a strike, if you will. Then he drops the ball in perfect position. Then he jumps up and gives his dad a high five. For God's sake, you can't train people to do this better than than Shohei trained Decoy to do it. So I could watch this for the rest of my life. He's the most beautiful dog, not to say that my dog Bentley isn't the most beautiful dog. But I would love it if these two dated actually Bentley and Decoy would be. Great. The only way that the only way that Decoy could be better is if he was a rescue dog. I wish the Dodgers would get on board with rescue. There's so many of these amazing athletes that
Starting point is 00:09:05 love designer dogs and it pisses me off. But decoy is wonderful. What a first pitch. I just loved it so much. And now forever immortalized in bobblehead form. So yesterday was the second show Aiotani Bobblehead Day at Dodger Stadium. We knew it was going to be an absolute shit show. Maybe not as bad because people were camped out there from 10 a.m. So stupid. Local time. Your friend, our friend, Elisa Hernandez, posted a nice clip of that on her drive into the stadium yesterday. Insane how many people were out there waiting to get in. And it's also annoying because I don't know if you saw this other picture, because we've got to talk about bobblehead hoarders here. This pisses me off. But here we see a lady.
Starting point is 00:09:54 I'll use lady very loosely. It feels very unlady like to have that many, what, 25, maybe 40 Otani bobbleheads there. It piss me off. And I'll tell you, yeah. I want to let you eat on this one, absolutely. But these people make me fucking sick. Absolutely. It's just awful.
Starting point is 00:10:10 It's selfish humans looking to get a turnaround and sell these things for hundreds, thousands of dollars each if you get that golden bobblehead or whatever. Yeah, I want to know how does this make you feel? I know my feelings. But tell us. Like, why is it? Why do we live in such a selfish society? Like I heard somebody say, oh, I have to feed my kids.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Stop, buddy. Like, you're not going to the, you can't afford Dodgers tickets if you're suffering to feed your family. Okay, not, not for nothing. Dodger Stadium is not a cheap place to be. So if you're going in there, and I don't know if these people are buying multiple tickets to the game, I don't know if they're buying them off of people in the stadium, but to hoard bobbleheads like that, just to turn them around and put them on eBay. And by the way, did you see some of the prices on eBay for some of these bobbleheads?
Starting point is 00:10:55 Like not only the normal one, but the golden one that there's like fewer giving away. It's absurd. The amount of money that people are asking on eBay, $14,000, $18,000 for a freaking bobblehead. Here's how you solve this. Why can't we offer 53,000 bobbleheads? Like, why do we have to? The gates didn't even open until 5 p.m., right? people are lined up at 10 a.m. 11 a.m. Not, I don't know if you know this, but there's a lot of
Starting point is 00:11:23 freaking traffic in L.A. And then to add to the traffic with this situation of having people lined up all the way down basically the freaking downtown Los Angeles, Manhattan Beach, probably, to get in line for this and then just to hoard them, that makes me so angry. Like stop it. Quit being an asshole. Quit being selfish. Like one per person. Like don't be a dick. don't be a dick don't be i'm i this was years ago i forget the bobblehead they gave away too but i was walking into the stadium and i saw somebody walking out uh the game hadn't even happened yet he's walking out with the cardboard box filled with with bobbleheads um and i i can say hey those all bobbled heads or whatever the hell it was i said something stupid and he's like yeah all proud and i said hey man you're a dick
Starting point is 00:12:07 in his face just very much changed uh but the idea you know going back to what you said why can't they just have enough bobbleheads i don't i think the dodgers get off on this kind of I don't know if any publicity is good publicity. We know the news is going to get involved in this. We know people like us are going to get involved in this. Stan Kasten did one of those Stan Kasten moves where he just says nothing or tries to avoid it. And I'm sure you're going to get a text from Stan mad at me talking about this. But the reason is, you know, oh, yeah, there it is.
Starting point is 00:12:38 The what is it? The sponsors of these things. Oh, they don't know if they have it in the budget to get 53,000 bullshit. bullshit you do not have it just everybody should get a bobblehead maybe chip people i don't know figure it out but i want to see less of these assholes with sacks and sacks filled with these bobbleheads you know if you want if you want to make money go get a damn job or something right right and you know and again like what if there's a little kid that was like waiting all day for this damn thing and he does he or she doesn't get a bobblehead because you know jimmy two tone decided to to grab 86 bobbled
Starting point is 00:13:14 and, you know, 85 of them are on eBay right now. That's just dumb. Like, stop. Just don't be selfish. Like, stop. Stop being selfish. Like, stop thinking you're the only person on the planet. Producer Sarah, with a good question in here on our chat saying, do they even stay for
Starting point is 00:13:30 the game? Like, do people just show up there? I don't know. How do you stay, like, for the game, 40 bucks? I do know for a fact that people plan their game packages around promo days. Like, I know for certain that people look at the game. the promo calendar when it comes out and they're like, I want tickets to that. I want tickets to that. A lot of these folks are collectors and I get that. And I don't mind the collectors, but you get one. Okay. Like I'm not, I don't, I don't, I'm not mad at you. If you want every single bobblehead that's ever been, you know, created, uh, that's that I have no problem with.
Starting point is 00:14:04 But to go in there and, and hoard them, uh, it irritates me. It's just not fair. I know the world isn't fair, but just don't be a jerk. Think about other people besides yourself. Another one from our guy, Kenny Chung, who was already in the chat earlier saying the game was sold out, but there were a lot of empty seats because of douchebags like that. I'll say this and then we can move on because there's actual baseball stuff to talk about. There's one type of person in the world that I hate more than those people. And that's like the parking meter people or the people who give you a ticket for parking on your own damn street. Yeah, yeah, yeah. For the same day. You know, maybe this is me being an elitist because we have streets.
Starting point is 00:14:44 and street sweeping and all that kind of stuff where I live. But the people who give you a ticket for parking on your own damn street, you can go straight to hell or straight to hell. I was going to say, and the other ones, the bobblehead resell assholes, they can go to the moon. That's where I'm at. Yeah. But let's move on.
Starting point is 00:15:03 I have a list of pet peeves that's a mile long and they're on it. They're on it. The bobblehead hoarders, they are on it. All right, time now for blue balls. Let's get it. I hate that we have these conversations, but it is what it is. testing for Tyler Glasnow on Friday. So this went Clint,
Starting point is 00:15:20 see us from a situation of, I'm fine, I can pitch, I don't want to go on the IL to all of a sudden he's doing great, to all of a sudden we don't know when he's returning. Yeah, it's just bad communication on both sides, maybe a little bit too much open communication on both sides. I don't know how much they spoke before he was placed on the IL.
Starting point is 00:15:42 He did speak after he was placed on the IL. We talked about this last week. where he said essentially kind of was like, oh, they wanted to do this is not what I wanted to do, is very much, you know, this is not my decision. I want to keep on pitching. But now all of a sudden, you know, it feels like it's a worrisome thing. It's a troublesome issue with this, what is it, forearm issue. And, you know, Dave saying words like, you know, the hope is he can come back for the, you know,
Starting point is 00:16:10 before the end of the regular season. When Dave uses that word hope, that's when I start to. to like, like I start to clinch a little bit, you know, it makes me a very, very a lot of nervous when I hear Davey towards like hope like that. But again, like you said, they're testing. He's throwing a baseball tomorrow in, in Arizona. And that's kind of going to be the big tell. If he responds well after that, they could start ramping him up. I don't know if we're at a point where he'll need a rehab, but he hasn't really thrown since his last start before this. So I don't know if he needs that or if they're just going to kind of plug him into the rotation. But it's still,
Starting point is 00:16:50 it's a pretty big concern at this stage of the season. The Dodgers are, see, this is what I think too. See, this is what I think, Paul C and I are on the same page, preserving glassy and Yama, Tyler Glass now, Yoshinoviyama Motu might be the trick to win the World Series. He's not that off on that. And I don't know this. This is just a hunch. And you and I and Sarah and Mark talked about this earlier on our production meeting that is it a possibility that they're just trying to hold him back and save the arm because of the innings limit because he's not ever thrown this amount of innings he can continue to pitch i know it's not high leverage situations i know you can't simulate games but keep the arm healthy keep him stretched out and then when it really matters
Starting point is 00:17:35 then bring them back so you have a healthy fresh arm to put in that dodger's starting rotation perhaps could that be part of it? I'm kind of with them there. I would love that to be the case, and I really hope that's the case. Maybe this is their way of kind of circumventing the Phantom IL. You don't tell them, or you tell them to go out there and throw us under the bus and make us look like idiots and like we're not talking to each other, communicating about this situation. But if that is the scenario, that's the best case scenario for the Dodgers,
Starting point is 00:18:06 that he's actually mostly pretty decently fine, and we'll be ready to go for game one or game two. of the NLDS, presuming they win the National League West. But that's the hope. I'm crossing my finger. Yeah, I'm crossing everything. Does this make Walker Bueller's emergence improvement even more valuable because we don't necessarily know what's going on with Glasnow?
Starting point is 00:18:31 He looked pretty good yesterday. He said he felt a lot better. He's felt as good as he has since 2021. I'm paraphrasing, you can see what Dodger Blue 1958 tweeted. but I think it makes what he's doing even more important than if Glasnai was in the starting rotation right now than if Yamamoto was in the starting rotation right now. I think Walker becomes even more critical to what this team needs to do moving forward. Yeah, I'll, you know, die on the hill of I like what I've seen out of Walker, not necessarily over the last two starts,
Starting point is 00:19:03 but maybe start and a half. He's been better, much, much better, signs of vintage butane, as I might say, even Walker, we saw agreed. Dave agreed with that as well. He just needs players behind him to not play like the bad news bears because that was embarrassing what we saw a lot. A few defensive mishaps, at least are not the Chicago White Sox. That's for another. That's for White Sox territory.
Starting point is 00:19:25 But yeah, you know, he looked better. He looked better. Again, you don't need him to be the ace. You need him to be a number three. But the thing is, you know, and Alana, you've seen it first. hand he is the ace when he's postseason ready and this team has been trash in October with Walker Bueller missing he had a nine start stretch in in postseason play where he posted an era of like one of it when I had the note summer one three eight one two eight striking out 68 over
Starting point is 00:19:59 49 and the third he was very much gassed in 2020 what do we know if he has that in him do we know if if we can get he can get back to that after two t jays if if he does i'm going to credit c buchner for pissing him off to be honest because we need to see walker bueller with that strut he's got the tight pants going again but you get butane with that strut knowing that he's got the biggest one there on the mound uh you're going to get a very good version of walker bueller and then you have these problems these good problems they have to have these question marks for dave roberts who is going to be that number three or that number four if everybody's healthy because I take 20, let's say I'll take 20,
Starting point is 00:20:41 give me 2020 Walker over Tyler Glasnow because, look at Glasnow's numbers. They haven't been exactly sexy in the postseason for what it's worth. He was also, not for nothing. He was pitching for the raise. Like, stop. Like, you know, it's not the same. It's not the same.
Starting point is 00:20:56 All right. Yeah, okay, but here's the deal. Okay, let me ask you this question, since we're throwing questions out there. Who do you feel more confident in? Postseason Kersh or postseason butane? Right now, how they are, now.
Starting point is 00:21:08 Walker. I mean, that's, that's a, I love, I love Clayton Kershaw, but there are memes kind of for a reason. And not all of the, the issues that Clayton Kershaw has encountered in his career are his fault. Shout out somebody like Pedro Baez. But give me what Walker Bueller can do on the bump in the postseason with the right mindset and a fully functioning elbow.
Starting point is 00:21:37 I mean, that's a dog. That is an absolute dog on the mountain there. And I want that guy. My question to you, as usual, you're not listening to me. My question to you is right now. Kirsch today or Walker today, if the postseason started tomorrow, who are you more confident in? Can I see two more starts or one more start each?
Starting point is 00:22:02 Sure, Clint. It's your world. We're just living in it. Sure. Well, you can have two more starts. Angry Walker Bueller is a winning walking Bueller. I think Philip meant Walker. But yeah, I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Of course. I think he definitely pitches better angry. He's more effective when he's angry. Walker effing Bueller. We get it. Walker. He's on he's coming up right now. I love Kirshah.
Starting point is 00:22:21 I love you, Kirsch. You can start the game after Walker, but I'm going to take Walker. I'll take that flyer and cross everything myself. How many ever things I can cross to make it work. I think I just know up a gang sign. You're taking Walker in game one over Glasnow in game one? Oh, I mean, game one, if we're saying everybody's healthy, I'm always going to go the Yamamoto way, but that's not an option right now.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Really? So you're going Yamamoto based on one month of the season? Yeah, like two months. It was that Yankee start. That Yankee start was something special. Yeah, but it meant nothing. It was in May or whenever the heck it was. All right.
Starting point is 00:22:59 I think we have a super chat to see us get to it. We got a super chat. Let's go. Oh, is that my guy? I think I saw my guy. Richie Flores, Richard Flores, thank you very much. 499 Super Chat saying, talking about the Bobblehead Day. He took the day off, got there at 2 p.m.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Traffic being a gridlock, three hour away at the center field gate. Several people. I don't know if you saw this as well. People on stretchers suffering from heat exhaustion and all that. So he says, as Bobbleth traffic. This doesn't answer my question. Did Richie get a bobblehead or did he just? Yes, he did.
Starting point is 00:23:31 Okay. He and his wife. did get a bobblehead. So, you know, I got, I got space, Richie. I got space. Anyways, I wanted to ask you, let's move on. We got one more ball here for our blue balls, but the Freddie Freeman situation, he's missed the last two games. We don't know as of this point if he's going to be in on Thursday. I highly doubt it. But playing with that fractured finger has not played very well with that fractured right middle finger. Are you worried about Freddie and was it a bad move on the Dodgers part to not put him on the IL?
Starting point is 00:24:09 What if he is just being benched because he said he didn't like the way that the Dodgers handled the Jason Hayward situation. Maybe his fingers not broken. I'm just kidding, you guys. Calm down. I'm not worried about it, but I do think that I do. I mean, now, again, there's two. I'm going to talk out of both sides of my mouth here.
Starting point is 00:24:26 There's two ways to look at it. You can put him on the IL, but I worry that we don't have a 10-game lead. and you need him. But then at the same token, if his finger's really broken and he can't be effective with it, it doesn't matter. You need to put him on the IL. So I'm not super worried about him yet. But again, I'm not trying to, I'm not trying to hit and throw with a broken finger. I mean, I don't know how it's affecting him. Is it on his top hand? You know, like I. His lead hand, his bottom hand. Okay. You know, I don't. I don't know. I don't know. I don't want to flip me off to tell you what finger it is.
Starting point is 00:24:59 No, no, that's fine. You flip me out for other reasons. It's fine. But I, I just think that. But, yeah, I mean, perhaps you can put them on the IL. I mean, it would be retroactive back now, right? Well, they had a very, like, clear opportunity to do that, where I think with days off, mixing. Yeah, and they didn't do it. Seven games of over a 10-day stretch. I'll just say, this bothers me to no end.
Starting point is 00:25:25 And I think there are some people with the Dodgers, with Dave Roberts, where to me, it feels like they get bullied by the player. Freddie, he takes pride in not missing days. He takes pride in being that guy that goes out there and plays 161 every year because he takes a day off after the team secures a division title. But if your finger is broken, sit the F down because we've seen him get into bad swing habits. And sometimes it takes him a good long while to get out of those.
Starting point is 00:25:54 I will reference last September and into October where he got one hit. I think he was one for 11 in October. I think he's three for 32 since that finger injury. It's very clearly affecting him in some way, shape, or form. So if that also builds bad swing habits, just to battle for seven extra games, I don't like it. I don't like it at all. Okay, but let me ask you this. How long does it take for a finger to heal?
Starting point is 00:26:22 How long is it going to take for that finger to heal for him to sit out and get his swing back? I think I saw something like three to four or three to six weeks or something like that where even just giving him that that initial stretch for it to heal up a little bit, I think that would have gone a long way. But playing him- I don't know if you can like heal it. I don't think you can heal it a little bit. I think, I mean, what good is it going to be if it's healed like 20% and then he
Starting point is 00:26:49 rebakes it or whatever? Like either you put- I don't know big city lawyer or big city doctor here. I'm not going to know this kind of stuff. But I'm just saying, I'm pretty sure that bonus week or that week on the front end of it would have helped a lot more than two weeks or a week and a half after it happened. That's going to be my take on it. But I'd say just don't break things. You're going to be fine.
Starting point is 00:27:11 Oh, sure. Yes. Just don't play at all. All right. We're going to come back in a moment with last looks. We'll be back after a word from A.J. Pruzinski, Eric Kratz and Scott Braun. I love a great deal.

Less licks as far as baseball is concerned. A series, a big one wrapping up tonight with the O's, but you know what? We're going to play the Diamondbacks, and these people are on our heels, Clint. This is a good
Starting point is 00:29:42 club. This is a good club. And this is a situation where it's a little bit too close for my liking. Yeah, Diamondbacks finally playing, well, I would say they're playing above where I thought they were going to be. We knew they were going to be a very good ball club this year, had some stumbles and scuffles entering this season. all of a sudden pieces falling together. This is why it's 162 games. All of a sudden, this feels like it could be the biggest series of the year, especially in the National League West.
Starting point is 00:30:12 What's your take on that? Would you label it that way? I do. I think it's huge. I don't like that they're this close and they're playing really well. And by the way, I mean, they don't have Christian Walker might come off the IL just to shove it right back down our throat again and then go back on the IL when this series is over. You know, Christian Walker is not in the lineup, but I tell you what, Corbin Carroll's starting to play really well.
Starting point is 00:30:35 A. Eugenio Suarez has been ridiculous. I mean, he was hitting a buck 70 at the end of June and people were asking for him to be DFAed. And he has put this team on his back. I love that it's a wraparound series for games to me is a good series with some good pitching matchups. I'm pissed that Eduardo Rodriguez is a Dback and not a Dodger, but that's for another program. I'm excited. I like the competition. They need to be challenged this team, I think. You know, you don't want to wait until the postseason to wake up because you've run away with the division and you have a 15 game lead wire to wire. So I don't care if you win the division by one game or 50. You got to win it. And then you've got to, you've got to shove in the postseason.
Starting point is 00:31:14 So, you know, you got to think about last season too, last postseason. You know, the Diamondbacks were like, oh, you don't think we're good. Okay, we'll see in the World Series. You know, so again, they have that ability. And they have an interesting culture. I love Tori Lavello. you know, he believes in his squat and it is a good club. And it's interesting too because they went from a six-man rotation.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Now Jordan Montgomery is in the bullpen because he has an ERA above six and a half. But they have a good starting rotation. Yeah, I would say, I mean, we saw the matchup if you guys want to throw it back up on the screen. If we can, if not, I like that it is the best of what is available for the Dodgers right now. But still at the same time, the D-backs don't get another look at Glass now. They don't get another look at Yamamoto. I appreciate that kind of stuff, especially considering these two clubs could meet up again in the postseason if things fall a certain way. So, you know, enjoy some baseball this weekend, guys.
Starting point is 00:32:08 It's going to be a very fun series. I hope everybody in baseball really does take this series in because you're watching two of the best ball clubs in the National League battling. Dodgers very good, all the money, all the show, hey, and Diamondbacks reigning National League champions playing the way they're supposed to be. So good baseball. This is what baseball fans want. Good teams playing each other. So I'm looking forward to that. And the NL East has a big one too because the Phillies and the Braves start tonight.
Starting point is 00:32:35 So that'll be a good one too. Obviously potential opponents for the Dodgers as they work their way through the postseason. What's coming up on all Dodgers? More Dodgers talk. I want to do a deep dive on Will Smith's struggles because I'm at a point where I wonder if, and they're not going to take him off of the roster. But I'm wondering if there's better options. cough cough dalton rushing for the dent serious right now listen we we we I blew my load on this show
Starting point is 00:33:04 already for good stuff tonight so you got to make up good stuff for later will smith off the roster I'm about to take you off this show look at Willie's numbers they have been it's fine but you know what for a hot minute he has been one of the best hitting catchers in the game since he got called up I don't want to hear You're being ridiculous. He's also hitting 182 over his last, since June 12th, 182 with a 608 OPS. Your mom said 482 since June 12th. All right.
Starting point is 00:33:41 Next, what else is coming up on all Dodgers? I don't know. We'll talk about stuff. I'll make fun of you for having such a strong distaste for this. I'm not saying it's going to happen. Will does a lot of good things. But we'll talk about it more. Guys, Tube in, Alana, Tube in tonight.
Starting point is 00:33:58 You can yell at me in the comments there on the show. 6 p.m. Pacific Time on All Dodgers with Clint Paseas. That is me, Tube in. We'd appreciate it.
