Starting point is 00:02:13 because he wasn't working the bobblehead night, which is rare for him. Good afternoon, everybody, and welcome to this live edition of Dodgers territory on this Monday afternoon. I am Alana Rizzo. That is Clint Paseas. We now have our own YouTube channel. check us out subscribe like us join do all the things that you want to to make us feel a little bit better about ourselves clint happy weekend my friend when we went into the break we said you know what let's not allow the dodgers in the red series to be a trap series and it wasn't the dodgers
Starting point is 00:02:51 do what they're supposed to do against a bad team and that is the the narrative of the entire season so i say let's get into it with some blue balls here you you guys out there like our new front end. The blue balls, the reason being a lot of moving parts over the course of the weekend. By the way, Stephen Nelson is going to be joining us coming up here on Dodgers territory. Of course, broadcaster on SportsNet, LA. We'll talk to him about the weekend that was. Get your questions in the chat for Nelly. All right. So blue balls. Let's talk about this. The Dodgers, first of all, choosing to send James Outman as the odd man out, Clint, instead of Chris Taylor, who obviously is struggling mightily, Fabian Ardaya of the athletic Max Muncie.
Starting point is 00:03:36 strained is oblique, Miguel Vargas and Chris Taylor will split left field versus lefties. Vargas starts tomorrow, Kike, and Miguel will split duties at third base. What do you think about this as far as outman going out and CT staying in? Well, I know folks here on the internet machine really, really would like to see Chris Taylor anywhere but the Dodgers lineup or the Dodgers active roster, but it's just the reality of it is he's owed a lot of money. He has performed in the past. He's one of Dave's guys. We know he's not going anywhere. If this was a year or two ago, he definitely would have come down with a sprained toe or something like that. We would have saw one of those phantom IELs that the Dodgers definitely made famous, but the Mets got banged for.
Starting point is 00:04:18 But that's not really an option anymore. So you see James Outman sort of fall on the sword, not that Jimmy did not deserve to go down. He needs to kind of get his head right. He needs to figure some things out with the bat. But like you kind of alluded to here, there's a lot of moving parts, too, with this Dodgers team right now. And it really starts to feel like May and you get the grind of 162 here when you have an injury. You have somebody going down, poor performance. I love saying it here on the internet.
Starting point is 00:04:46 Our pets' heads are falling off. It's fun time for Dodgers fans here. I don't know why you can't use a Phantom I.L. I think giving him a blow would be a phenomenal choice right now. The guy is, I can't get out of his own way. And listen, there's nobody that's a bigger fan of Chris Taylor than me. I said that I really truly believe that he's going to figure it out. But man, he's hitting below, below, below the Vendoza line.
Starting point is 00:05:10 He's not even hitting 100. So I don't know why you can't just say, you know what, we're just going to give this guy a breather and let him kind of figure it out somewhere. That being said, Max Muncie is on the aisle now as well. Let me ask you this. Are you concerned at all? Because we know Muncie's been getting better defensively. But now we're going to split time with Kike and Vargas or Rojas at a no, Vargas. at third base. So does that concern you at all? Third base is not an easy position defensively.
Starting point is 00:05:39 You know, it's funny. I didn't think we would ever reach an era where I'm upset to not see Max Muncie at third base, but he has made giant steps and strides this season to improve his defense at the position. We also know he's pretty much guaranteed to chip in about 35 bombs a year. So it is a pretty big blow right now, but luckily you have some capable guys there. Kika Hernandez needs against his at-bats. We know how he gets when he does not get his at-bats. Miguel Rojas, I would love to see more Miggy Roe at third base. He's kind of shoehorned into the second base spot right now.
Starting point is 00:06:14 We've seen him make some phenomenal plays at third base. So it's a good opportunity for these guys while they catch the oblique issue for Max Muncie early on. Hopefully it does not linger because you don't want this sort of thing creeping up later on into the season. As things get warmer, people get more dried out. and then into October. So take advantage, I guess, of the opportunity. I'd worry about obliques and I worry about hamstrings because if you bring them back too early, you could re-injure them, re-aggravate them. You have to be very careful with both of those injuries. Iris K has this to say, CT3 is legit hurt. His swing is hurting the team and the fans.
Starting point is 00:06:52 He's not physically hurt, Iris, but I understand what you're saying, a little bit of a play on words here as far as that is concerned. Yeah, I mean, and if you ask any buddy, you know, Chris has taken this harder than anyone. Nobody wants to go up there and suck, right? And I really do believe there's a reason that they gave Chris that contract. I mean, he's worked his way and earned his way into that, but right now it's just not panning out. Let me ask you this, Clint, after Arizona, which certainly is not to the level they probably want to be at this point in the year, but they're still a formidable opponent in the National League West. After that, though, the schedule gets a little bit softer for the daughters.
Starting point is 00:07:27 Again, don't treat them as draft series, but they got Cincinnati. Maddie, they have the Mets who are terrible. Now, obviously, Edwin Diaz has just been removed from his closer position, Colorado, who's not good, and Pittsburgh, who's on a come, but they've got a long way to go before they get to where they want to be. Do you look at that as an advantage? Or does it need to be an advantage? I think you could look at any game in any series, any day as an advantage for the Dodgers. You really should be looking at it that way. But yeah, take advantage and use this time right now to get your guys healthy. We know they got 150 pitchers on the I-Hill right now. use a schedule, use bad teams of your advantage, get these bullpen games in there when they are, bring up Landon Nack, who had a hell of a start against the Reds this weekend and all that. It's a long season. We don't care about so much care about May wins and all that. We know all wins are important, but take advantage, get people healthy and beat bad teams, I guess is my bow to whatever the hell I'm talking about.
Starting point is 00:08:33 All right, putting a bow on it. You know what? Let's talk to Stephen Nelson. Does a great job on the broadcast for Sportsnet, L.A. You can also see him, of course, on ESPN here in Los Angeles. He was on the call all weekend with Eric Caros in the booth. Steve Nelson. Stephen Nelson, Nellie, joining us now, my friend.
Starting point is 00:08:48 Hello, how are you in beautiful Los Angeles? First, I must say to you, a showstopper and a game ender. What a call on Show Hey, Otani's walkoff. saying, well, nice job there. And the emotion's just kind of going through the booth there when you're watching that unfold. Yeah, first and foremost, Alana, I'm hugging you through my tiny phone screen here. I can't wait to see you in person again. And Clint, nice to digitally meet you, man.
Starting point is 00:09:12 I've been aware of your work for a while now. So it's great to finally connect. And congrats and the launch in Dodgers territory, the two of you guys together. So I appreciate you having me on, first and foremost. As for yesterday, that was really fun. There's no question about it. I think, and E.K. and Ralphie, who, you know, the stage manager in the booth, they made a point as that the extra endings were unfolding. Like, you know, look at all the people here. Like, this is what you stay for. You know, you sign a guy to $700 million. And, you know, you're sitting there on a Sunday. You're cooking in the sun. Granted, it's only May, not July or August. And, you know, you might be a little frustrated with the offense and ability to break through the last few games. But. You got Shohei Otani coming up with the game on the line in his first year as a Dodger and delivers his first walkoff hit.
Starting point is 00:10:01 So that was really cool to be a tiny part of it. And glad I didn't mess it up until the sign off when the voice finally gave out. But that was a cool Sunday. Show Hey weekend. Yeah, Shohei really did take advantage of the weekend. You got the bobblehead. By the way, where are you storing your bobblehead? Is it got its own little safe house?
Starting point is 00:10:21 Because I know they gave him there. It's in a vault. I'm going to wait. I'm going to wait until Oro Hirschizer wants to bid the right number on it because he wasn't working the bobblehead night, which is rare for him. And he values those things. Those are precious commodities. So if Bulldog, you know, I got two kids that eventually are going to go through college. So when Bulldog wants to help me put them through it, that's when the first Shohei Bobbohead might make its way from the Nelson household to the Hershizer house. But no, it's just upstairs right now. That was. Did you get up with the gray uni or did you get the white uni? Come on now. No, I did not. I did not.
Starting point is 00:10:58 Okay, you got the white. I did see. I saw somebody painted a home one into gray. I was like, folks are getting after it. They're doing a little too much, but I do understand it to a degree. All right. I got a real one for you here to continue on, Tony. And then I'll hand off to Alana to do her better job than I'm doing. But first walk off for Shohei in four years. Was that something you were aware of in that moment? Because I saw the stat go online.
Starting point is 00:11:31 And I'm like, what the hell? How is it possible? Unicorn. Yeah, honestly, we were right there with you. Like, we got that note. And we're like, we look at each other, wait. And then EK, EK unintentionally gave the Angels astray in the postgame recap on SportsnetLA. And he's like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:51 And then you're like, oh, how many times are the angels? He's come up with a chance to win the game at the end. I'm like, dang, E.K. Like, but, you know, it's true. Like, they've had a really tough run over the last few years. But despite that, you would think that at some point along the way, Otani would have come up in a big spot and delivered. So that was pretty mind-blowing.
Starting point is 00:12:10 But something we've always admired about him from afar and now we're doing it up close is that, you know, Shohei is and he desires to be a true showman, pun intended, because that means a lot of. lot to him. He understands his role, not just as a baseball player in this team, but his role sort of has this global lightning rod for the sport. He was like that. He had that mentality representing Samurai Japan and the World Baseball Classic. You know, he does not typically take BP on the field anywhere in the big leagues, right? You know, Dodgers Stadium, one of the rare road crowds, he would do that
Starting point is 00:12:43 for. But every single part exhibition and game in the WBC back home in Japan, he did it on the field because you know people were traveling from hours and hours away, hours before the game, to watch him. And then, of course, you know, how he caps off that World Baseball Classic. So he has a feel and a desire for the moment. So it is sort of crazy that the moment hasn't found him in that regard with terms of walk-off situations in four years. But how cool is it that he was able to come through on the same weekend that he has Shohei Otani Day? LA County, his first bobblehead night as a Dodger this weekend, and then he caps it off with his first walkoff hit as a dodger. And again, it was not a cheapie. It wasn't a cheapie. That was a
Starting point is 00:13:29 bullet. Hello, hello. I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of the podcast Smart Talks with IBM. I recently sat down with IBM's chairman and CEO, Arvin Krishna. And I asked him, how can companies use AI to its fullest potential to create smarter business? My one advice to that. It is you can ski. Don't pick the shiny little toys on the side. For example. If anybody has more than 10% of what they had for customer service 10 years ago, they're already five years behind. If anybody is not using AI to make their developers who write software 30% more productive today,

Starting point is 00:15:52 Oh boy. Yeah, I know. My golf swing is off today. It's just a lesson. Who sent up, champ? I can't. I think I might have gotten away with something I shouldn't have. What the heck are you talking about? Okay, you see that brand new Hyundai Santa Fe over there?
Starting point is 00:16:05 Yeah. Well, I only paid the deal so right, it almost feels wrong. Get the Hyundai you've always wanted. Plus America's best warranty at the Hyundai Getaway sales event. Finish that bucket of balls on your own. I got to run. Little Santa Fe's coming green, right? I love green.
Starting point is 00:16:24 What, no, to come back, I paid for the full hour. It's a great day for a new Hyundai at the Hyundai Getaway sales event going on now. Get 0% APR for 60 months plus zero payments for 90 days on the Hyundai Tucson, Tucson, and Santa Fe or Santa Fe hybrid. Now during the Hyundai Getaway sales event. Hurry. Offer ends March 31st. Call 562-314-4603 for details.
Starting point is 00:16:48 Nelly, the lines to get into Dodger Stadium are always ridiculous, but particularly for Shohei Otani Bobblehead Night. I mean, you and I get to the ballpark four and a half, five hours before the game. This was insanity. What was your takeaway from it? So I'll be honest, I was late getting to the park for that night. So true story, as you know, you asked me to come on the show a couple weeks ago and I wasn't able to because I was traveling to Italy for a family wedding. And so I was gone for a couple of weeks. I landed back home in Southern California Thursday morning, so the day of the first game.
Starting point is 00:17:30 So this whole weekend, I'm just glad that I didn't say too much stupid shit or I'd say more stupid shit than normal. Because still figuring out what part of the world I'm in and what time zone. So I was, you know, again, a little slow getting to the park. And of all days to have that happen, Otani Bobblehead night, Mike Levy, RSD. deemed executive producer whom you know and love. He did call me because it was like two and a half hours before the game. And he's like, hey, where are you at? And I'm like, I'm stuck on sunset.
Starting point is 00:18:02 I am waiting to turn on Scully. He's like, okay, well, at least you're not like, you know, stuck on the five somewhere. Yeah, I was close. But, I mean, that last corridor, the final corridor to get into the Ant Hill that we know and love as Dodger Stadium, it can get a little sticky. but I made it in time. But just seeing the videos and the pictures whilst I was stuck in traffic of the people there five hours before gates open, like camped out, basically, was pretty astonishing. You knew it was going to be a zoo.
Starting point is 00:18:34 You didn't know to what degree. I do feel bad for, I know, I have some friends who, you know, they had the special ticket packs. They got there plenty early and they didn't get the bobblehead. So it's just one of those things. the shame of it was and again not a surprise is that there are people who were getting the bobblehead somehow maybe a couple and then just like turning around and leaving which i you know don't love that but you know i won't i won't arbitrate how people behave as fans but yeah it was it was something and i'm just thankful that i didn't that i didn't miss the game because that was a little late that
Starting point is 00:19:13 day. Alana. I was telling people on this show before, on my other show as well. Hey, this is going to be an absolute nightmare, an absolute shit show. Everybody should have just clamped out at Dodger Stadium, which I wouldn't be surprised if there were people there.
Starting point is 00:19:27 But we got to switch to the other big storyline right now. Mookie Betts, you know, makes that transition to shortstop. But now he's talking about really, quote, really, really hard, of course, that it's no, it's not a transition that's ever been done. You get to see this guy in the house on the field there when you are covering the team when the great Joe Davis is out doing better things than calling Dodgers games.
Starting point is 00:19:49 What are you seeing with Mookie in this transition and just general impressions of it? If I were to just look at it objectively and take all the context of the team out of it, You're seeing somebody who has generally found everything in life, athletically easy to come by, right? That's always been the thing with Mookie Betts. He makes everything look easy. Oh, my gosh, she's one of the baseball players, one of the best baseball players on the planet.
Starting point is 00:20:25 And he can shoot hoops. He could drive the golf ball 330 yards. You know, what can't Mookie do? That has always been the thing. And that has been challenged internally. Yeah. In relation to his. Hall of Fame expectations of himself, right? That is sort of like the lens that you have to keep
Starting point is 00:20:44 in mind here is that this is not just any player with any, you know, sort of approach to his profession. This is somebody who wants to be in Cooperstown more than anything. He wants to be remembered as one of the all-time greats. And he wants to leave a lasting impact on the field. And so now he's been put in a position to do something on a everyday basis that's play shortstop that he has not done since he was a high schooler, since he was a baby. And now to do that at the highest level on earth, to talk about that is one thing. To talk about Mukie Betts doing it is one thing. To actually do it is another. And so I think what I would like for Mookie is to give himself a little grace.
Starting point is 00:21:40 And that is as someone who is also trying to, you know, work hard at their craft, that that's easier said than done. You know, like you want to be perfect. You want to nail. I want to nail every call. I want to nail every pitch. That does not happen. Mookie Bets wants to nail every ball hit to him at shortstop. It hasn't happened.
Starting point is 00:21:59 And you know what? It's okay if you're accountable for it, which he is. is, maybe too much so, but that's just the perfectionist in him coming out. So I would just hope he gives himself a little bit of grace, lean on the fact that he has been excellent at everything he has done throughout his life. And so just give him time to get there again. I do believe that he will get there.
Starting point is 00:22:24 Now, that's just the human side. To answer your question, like objectively from a baseball standpoint, is how much time does he get to do it? Like I think that's that's going to be a fair question for this team to ask over the next couple months ahead of the trade deadline. Because this team is World Series are bust every single year, especially so this year. No one shies away from that. No one's running from that. So is Mookie at short or Mookiee at second the best route to get there?
Starting point is 00:22:53 So that is going to be a question and a fair one to be asked over the next couple of months. I will not argue against that. Second outing, he looked like he was pitching more than he was throwing. What did you see from the second one? And how many starts do you need to see to know that he is really back? Oh, man. That last question I'll get to a little bit later, Alana. The word vintage was tossed around a lot with Walker after Saturday night.
Starting point is 00:23:20 That's for sure. I mean, he had everything going. It wasn't like he was leaning on one pitch. It was throwing the kitchen sink. I mean, the curveball looked awesome. I mean, I don't care who it was against. I know the Reds are a scuffling lineup. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:23:37 You play against, you pitch against who's in front of you, and he shoved. I mean, six shut out, you know, three hits, no walk, seven Ks. 78 pitches. I know some folks are like, oh, why does he go back out there? Dodger fans of all fans should know that it's the big picture, especially with Walker coming off his second T.J. Like you want him in form in October. That's what it's all about.
Starting point is 00:24:01 I don't need him throwing 100 against Cincinnati in May. I don't. I would be mad if that was the case, right? The biggest thing for me, Alana, and you would know this far better than me or anybody, given that you covered Walker's ascension in this organization, in this rotation, is just his development, his maturation as a human. We are seeing it right in front of our eyes, right? And he's talked about that, how he's, he was always angry all the time and he wants to get back there.
Starting point is 00:24:31 And who knows how serious he is and how much he's joking when he says that. But that was something that pushed him to that greatness. I remember being around Walker doing a college game for MLB Network and, you know, Vanderbilt was playing. And he came and was talk with Tim Corby and some of the guys. And I was on the top step watching with him. And I was trying to get a conversation going with him. And he just was having none of it. And I was like, man, like, he's not pitching.
Starting point is 00:24:55 today. This is spring, spring training, and he's just watching his old college, like, does he hate me? Does he hate the world? Is it, is it all the above? And now you see him smiling in between the white lines, forget in the dugout after a great outing. Like, it's, it's really refreshing to see. It's heartwarming to see. Obviously, McKenzie and their first child, Finley have, you know, everything to do with that. Now, in addition to what, EK talked about on the broadcast, which is just, you know, when you lose the ability to play the game, and then you get it back, you realize how much you truly love and appreciate it. So we're seeing all those things come together. As for the baseball, how many outings do I want
Starting point is 00:25:41 to see? I am going to give Walker like a year. Truthfully, truthfully, I'm going to give him like a season because to come back and, you know, After a second major elbow surgery, relearn the mechanics, you know, try and get your stuff and feel back, get through the mental barrier that it takes to trust those rebuilt mechanics to let it eat. That takes, I don't know how much time that takes. I've never done it. I don't know. So I'm going to give him a minute. If he gets it, you know, knock on wood here, if he gets hit hard his next turn, I'm not going to panic.
Starting point is 00:26:25 If he doesn't give up a run his next four turns, I'm not going to get too excited because you just have to stay even keel through the highs and lows. Like that's the cliche of baseball, but that's truth of baseball. But the fact is he needs time. Just like Gavin Lux needs time. Like that was just not any knee injury. He had his leg rebuilt. And so if he's 30, 40 games in and still figuring out how to use his new leg, that's okay by me.
Starting point is 00:26:53 I know that the stats and the standings don't give you that grace period. But from my perspective, Alana, I'm going to give them time because what they're doing here is no routine deal. But if he could build on that, and I think he will, like that is obviously, obviously a game changer for not just the Dodgers, but the entire landscape of the league. Hello, hello, I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of the podcast Smart Talks with IBM. I recently sat down with IBM's chairman and CEO, Arvin Krishna. And I asked him, how can companies use AI to its fullest potential to create smarter business? My one advice to that, pick areas you can scale. Don't pick the shiny little toys on the side.

Starting point is 00:30:41 we got some input from Elisheva Jones here in the chat, asking about the Dodgers at Dodgers Stadium. Big change from Farmer John a couple years ago. People up in arms about that because you get up in arms about everything. but for the phone here on Dodgers territory build that perfect Dodger dog oh okay oh okay I thought you were going to say kids someone asked them to like I was like that's so far that's so far above my pay grade like a lot a lot of can ask uncle Juan but I mean we can only we can only do so much um I so when it comes to to me and and and the dodger dogs or any hot dog or brought like I keep it pretty simple
Starting point is 00:31:26 I'm a mustard, onion, a little bit of ketchup. Sometimes I'll mix in some relish. So, yeah, I'm pretty, especially at a baseball game. Like, I don't try to reinvent the wheel with my in-game snacks. That's that. But I love that they brought back the, and Rosso Sheeta, the Dodgers director of graphic design is at the helm of this. But they brought back the old onion thing. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:52 That's super sanitary. It's totally fine. Not a problem. Yeah. We're not just back. It's true. Yeah, all the way back. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:04 We don't need to get into how the sausage or the Dodger dogs are made unintended with regards to the onion. But yeah, I just like seeing those back around the ballpark again. But yeah, that would be my quote-unquote perfect Dodger dog. I want to quickly steal one here from Alana as well. This one comes from our producer, Mark. No avocado? The Dodger dog?
Starting point is 00:32:25 Oh, yeah, geez. Okay. Mark, Mark Wiener is trolling me here because he knows that there is no singular food on planet Earth that I despise more than avocado. It goes to war with my... Yeah, I know I'm a Japanese man that does not love sushi and I'm a Californian that hates avocado. Make it make sense. You can't. It goes to war with my body.
Starting point is 00:32:52 So avocado, you should ask avocado why it hates. me you know I've tried it I've I've tried it on overpriced bread I've tried it on on nachos with in the form of guacamole and every time I'm just like I don't I don't understand I don't understand the the appeal here but Alana I think I don't know when we went to dinner with with Milar at the World Series a couple years ago when we went it was a lovely restaurant a lovely three-person date that we had but I don't I don't remember if we ordered anything with avocado, but had we, I would have, I would have just given the, I just remember the really pretty drinks that we.
Starting point is 00:33:36 Yes. That's all I remember. I don't know if we ate at that dinner, to be honest, or you. Pinky, pinkies out. Yeah, those drinks are really, really pretty. Yeah, pinkies out. But that's the thing. So, Clint, like, if we're ever, if we're ever out, they're eating and there's a sandwich that has avocado on it, I will say, I want my avocado on the side, and then I will hand it to you or our, friends. So again, just because I don't like it, does it mean that everybody else has to suffer without it? That is so in California of you. Stephen Nelson, you are the absolute best. I can't thank you enough for coming on. I love listening to you in the booth. The entire broadcast crew for sports in LA is fantastic. So thanks for being here. Best select the rest of the way. Please don't be a stranger. We will not make you eat avocados, but come on Dodgers territory again. Hey, Alana, love you guys. if you ever feel like wasting air time with me, I am here for you. Now that I'm back from international travel.
Starting point is 00:34:30 Unless you're flying to Italy for a wedding, but it's fine. I totally know where we stand. All right. Stephen Nelson, thank you so much for a friend. All right, we love you. All right. Bye. Time now for the greatest showman.
Starting point is 00:34:44 Clint, we're going to continue to talk a little bit about Shohei Otani. What a weekend, right? I mean, you could not have asked for a better weekend for Shohei. He gets the, you know, basically the key of the city. They named May 17th after him, the city of Los Angeles. I mean, Justin Turner took him a hot second to get that. And JT was like the captain of the team. Shohei already has a day.
Starting point is 00:35:06 He has a bobblehead, which, by the way, Austin Barnes had to wait two decades to get a bobblehead. And then he has the walk-off hit, game four of a four-game series. So he is living up to the moniker, is he not? This, you know, I don't know if all of these type of accolades were, were baked into the contract. or if this is still just the honeymoon phase where the Dodgers are still trying to woo show hey and be like, look, we really, really, really love you. What do you need to woo him for? They gave him 700 million. I'm like, listen, you don't have to talk to me ever again. If you want to give me 700 million, I'm good. Listen, you never know who's slipping into them DMs. I'm just saying. So you got to make sure you keep them happy and you give them days. You give them bobbleheads. You create panic with more bobbleheads or whatever it may be. And then you have Stephen Nelson, off a nice weekend with a great punch, great call on that walkoff, his first walkoff hit
Starting point is 00:36:01 as a Dodger. But man, it's got to be fun to be show Hey, Oh, Tani right now. It's got me real fun. Yeah, I would imagine. You know, the thing is, though, to whom much is given, much is expected, and he's living up to it. You know what I mean? And I do like the fact that Nellie mentioned it, and our producer also, Jeremy mentioned it too. The Angels didn't give him a ton of time to have any sort of walkoffs. They didn't give him the opportunity to walk it off there. Whereas LA gives him that opportunity. And notice I said the angels and not the angels of Anaheim or whatever the hell they're called. The doctors have given him the opportunity to get himself in that position.
Starting point is 00:36:35 But he is leading in so many different offensive categories. He's a man of the people. You saw what he did to that, you know, that little boy that was at Dodger Stadium in the interview room the other day, made his whole life. You know, he's living up to it. Let's see, you know, it's got to continue. I just, I hate to, I hope accolades are not built into a contract. because that would be a little ridiculous. Like, you can't give him a day already.
Starting point is 00:37:00 Like he's been there for five seconds. Like, that's a little weird to me. He's been in LA all this time. So it's Hanaheim. Heavy use of the air quotes on that one. Also, congratulations to show Hey, Otani passed with eight million subscribers on his Instagram. That is, that is insane.
Starting point is 00:37:20 That seems like a lot of people. That's about you and I about what we have. I think I have about 100. hundred thousand people look at this eight million followers athlete i love it just says athlete los angeles dodgers number 17 happy eight million followers to show hey god bless i need to i need to put athlete in my profile that's what i'm missing oh is that is that it yeah i'm sure that's what i'm missing too 220 i wonder where the 224 are that he's following i'm going to have to go look and see if he's following l-d territory on twitter because we know we have our own twitter
Starting point is 00:37:48 l-d territory all right is it time now for last licks it is All right, this one bums me out a little bit, but let's make it into a positive story. I want you guys to meet Babs and please, if you're not watching us right now, please listen in to Babs, his owner is a man by the name of David and unfortunately he has terminally ill of cancer. So his dying wish is to find his 10 year old baby Babs a home before he passes away. So Babs is 10 years old, she's a senior, she's a sweet girl, needs a house with no other dogs, no kids. If you can help us out, try to find a soft landing spot for Babs. As David's last wish, we would certainly appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:38:35 Visit giddreysgarden.org. I can connect you to some folks that want to help. If you can foster, that would be amazing. No cost to you. My foundation will take care of it. So let's find Babs a home so David could be at peace with his decision. All right, Clint. They're starting a series with the Arizona Diamondbacks
Starting point is 00:38:53 before touching a, I guess, a softer portion of their schedule if you want to put it that way. what do you need to see game one uh game one who's starting tonight i know it's it's finally not a bullpen game i probably should have been more ready but what i need to see from this team is just keep on doing what they're doing oh you got yoshi on the mound tonight yoshinauba yamamoto that's a pretty good one to lead off a series with but just keep with the business as usual that's what this team does as what this los angeles dodgers organization does best when they're playing at their best they don't care who they're playing this the the situation that their opponent
Starting point is 00:39:28 it is in and I will note the Arizona Diamondbacks pretty freaking injured missing two of their their key starting pitchers. Alec Thomas is on the aisle as well, their center fielder and of course missing really missing the bat of Corbin Carroll for the entirety of the season. But don't let that fool you. Don't let that, you know, kind of low you to sleep. Take advantage of these situations like I keep preaching and you know, it doesn't matter how many players are hurt. Just play your game. Go out there and win some ball games. Right. For me, I want clean defense. I want a really clean defensive, quick, tight, nice defensive game. I think Yamamoto will do well on the hill.
Starting point is 00:40:04 I never discount the opposition. They're big leaguers for a reason. But I want to see a tight defensive game, especially with all of the changes tonight. With once on the IAL, obviously, you know, guys split in time at third base, you know, Mukki's transitioned to second, all of those things. So tight defensive game. That's what I need to see. Right on.
Starting point is 00:40:21 You guys could see more of me. I'm going to plug me tonight. All Dodgers will be live 530 percent. time on my all Dodgers YouTube channel with me, Clint Paseas, talking more about probably some show hey, but I got some mooky Bet's thoughts about the shortstop
Starting point is 00:40:38 situation and all that. So tune in here on YouTube. Guys, subscribe there. Subscribe to this YouTube channel. We should tell you, again, there's a Dodgers territory YouTube channel. We're trying to get to a thousand subs. We'd appreciate it. If you would be one of those, lucky number 1,000, gets nothing.
Starting point is 00:40:54 But you get to be proud. Written into your contract. You will get nothing and you will like it. Have a great afternoon, everybody, on this Monday. Thanks for being here with Clint and I on Dodgers territory. Like he said, like us, subscribe. We'll see you on Thursday for another episode. Take care. Bye.
