Every single time out, Roki Sasaki has to show more improvement, whether that's a certain
pitch, whether that's that third pitch, whether it's the confidence on the mound.
What is up and welcome to a brand new episode of Dodgers Territory?
I'm Alana Rizzo. That is Clint Paseas. Katie Wu is on her way to San Francisco. We do hope to get her in the mix, of course, as she previews that San Francisco Giants and Dodgers series. But first, we need to talk about a series that is wrapping up today. Let's talk Dodgers, Rockies in the big ticket. All right. So far, Clint, they have lost two of three. Oh, where's Katie? She wasn't supposed to be there in the middle. She's gone. They've lost two of three so far against the Colorado Rockies. It is her fault. She's not here.
an opportunity for them to split a series, Clint, against the lowly Rockies, or were we not
giving them enough credit?
No, you never give the Rockies credit.
Rockies will never deserve any sort of credit.
The fact that we've seen this team play where we have three games in the series,
people are healthy.
That's something we should care about.
You play to split in Colorado.
Ideally, you win a series and you stay healthy.
has been injured.
That's what I care about.
I just want to get out of Colorado.
I hate, I hate, I hate Coorsfield.
Beautiful place, as you know, Alana,
but I hate seeing the Dodgers go to play in Coors Field
because this feels every single time like a different baseball team
that I'm tired of watching that version of the Dodgers.
I remember one time No More Garcia-Paris said,
put a roof on Coorsfield.
I don't know if it would help,
but both the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers,
the two teams that were in the most recent World Series have lost two games so far this season to the Colorado Rockies.
Clint, you mentioned it though. You said everybody's healthy or are they? We're going to talk a little bit more about Edwin Diaz in a moment.
But let's first start with Roki Sasaki. Best of the season so far, let's give him some credit where credit is due.
But on the other side of that coin, you said it's the Rockies, but he is pitching in course field.
So he gets a little bit of a plus sign for that as well. Does he not?
Yeah, you know what?
I said last night the start for Roki felt like a little bit of a push.
You know, he started the game well.
You see the numbers here.
If you're watching on your phone or whatever, not just listening to us,
the numbers in totality don't look great on the season 611 ERA over 17 to two-thirds innings.
But, you know, you put it all together for Roki in that start in Colorado.
He was good to start the game.
And then he kind of went to crap after the fact.
You know, they started finding some grass.
That's what happens.
He started also losing a little bit of command with fastball.
Forkball wasn't working necessarily great for them.
You expected to work great at Coorsfield.
A pitch like that does not work great.
But it felt like a push to me.
Like the fact that it was somewhat good, mostly good, not really terrible.
We don't need to sit here and say it was another really, really bad start.
Like you would like him to go deeper into a game.
That's the next thing you need to see at a Roki Sasaki.
But I don't know.
Are we giving Roki Sasaki too much grace here?
Like in saying that that wasn't a terrible start, it wasn't a bad start or what have you.
Like is that, should we be harsher on Roki?
I don't know.
I think Katie Wu, when we had the conversation, the last time we were all together,
was talking about Roki Sasaki is going to be the player on.
the Los Angeles Dodgers roster that's always going to be under the most scrutiny, right? Because of
the fact that everybody was vying for his services, the Dodgers were the ones that he wanted to sign
with. And we haven't seen greatness from him or we haven't seen what I think most of us expected
to get out of Roki Sasaki when he came here. I think the only thing that you can ask for, Clint,
we discussed this as well, is every single time out Roki Sasaki has to show more improvement,
whether that's a certain pitch, whether that's that third pitch, whether it's the confidence on the mound, whether it's the execution, whether it's attacking the hitters, whether it's getting further and further into the lineup three times through the order. He has to make constant improvement. So we know that he's going in the right direction. I am going to give him more credit because he is pitching at course field. It is very difficult to pitch well there. But again, we need to see some consistency. I want to get to the point where we feel confident that Roki Sasaki, every time he takes the ball, every fifth or six,
day, however it lines up, that he's going to give you at least a quality start, give this team a
chance to win. We saw, as Stanley 299 mentioned, we saw greatness from Roki in the playoffs last
season, but that is not what the Dodgers want his value to be. The Dodgers want his value
to be as a starter in a very formidable rotation. And that is where they're going to need to see
that consistent value every fifth or sixth day. I believe is working towards it. I believe as we
sit here on April 20th. We still have a ton of time. The Dodgers still have one of the best
records in the league, if not the best record. And they're certainly winning their division. That's the
first check mark, right? That's the first check. I want to check is win your division. And it's still
too early, but I do need to see some improvement for sure. How about this question from Al of
Minerva in the chat as well, saying Rokey, well, it's not a question. It's more of a jumping off
point here. But he's unreal for two or three innings. And this is where we get into that
conversation about that's the thing. Excuse me while I grab a tissue here. My nose is running.
But that's the conversation right about having Roki Sasaki in the bullpen as you know middle relief,
a long arm in the bullpen. You know, I don't know. But that's again, that's not where the
Dodgers have seen it. Dave Roberts said he was going to break camp as a starter, break camp with the
team and they see him as a starter. So if that's where they see his value and that's where they're going
pencil him in, then he has to be better than just the two or three innings. If that's the case and that's where the ceiling is for him at this point in his career, then that's a long man. That's not a start. So, you know, they need to evaluate again. You know, is that the future where they see him or do they continue to stick with them as he works on some more pitches in the arsenal, gets the confidence up and is able to go through the order at least two times consecutively, you know, back to back outings or whatever, and be able to
able to give you at least five everybody always wants six right but at least five quality
innings um that's what i need to see from roki sasaki yeah um we got another one in here a good jumping
off point c carrera saying uh you know rokey at four innings is Gucci for now and that's a big
thing for now because what i was also talking about this last night they don't have anybody ready
to go there's nobody knocking down the door pounding down the door that is healthy and available
to jump in the starting rotation for this team.
So what we're seeing on Roki, it's fine for now,
but then you start to see bullpen usage.
That's going to be something that takes a bit of a hit.
That's going to take a blow.
The more often you get the previous start,
the previous outing was Emmett Sheen throwing 77 pitches,
pitching into the fifth.
And then after that, you have Roki, you know,
getting, not he needs to get into the sixth inning.
He needs to get through five innings.
That's going to be the big thing for Roki.
And we're not there yet.
We're not there yet, but he is what they have.
And again, I did not hate this outing.
Hopefully it's another springboard towards something better his next time,
whether it's against the Cubs or the Marlins a week from now.
Yeah, again, it's the consistent improvement that we're looking for.
It's the consistent ability to get better and improve on your craft every single time out.
I mean, you're going to have some clunkers, right?
I think in 30 starts, 10 you love 10 are okay and 10 are garbage.
So, you know, you got to factor that in in terms of 30.
33.3 are going to be garbage. This one was not garbage, but it was it was not great either.
There was a major league baseball debut over the course of this wraparound series, which I can't
stand a wraparound series, by the way, but that's neither here nor there.
Congratulations to Ryan Ward making his major league baseball debut, tons of family and friends
in attendance. Freddie Freeman, the corresponding move. He went on the paternity list as his wife,
Chelsea and Freddie are welcoming in their fourth child. This one is a girl. I believe
they've already named her London.
So congratulations to the Freeman family.
And Ryan Warden made good.
You know, good at bat in the ninth, a couple of knocks.
What do you take away from his major league debut, Clint?
I like, listen, I love Wardo.
He's a good dude.
Somebody, you know, I battled for a lot.
Last year as we suffered through the season of Michael Conforto,
probably not going to get a lot of playing time in a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform.
However, if he could show up and show out,
in the small amount of opportunities he's going to get other teams are going to take notice
because that's what this is this is an audition for 29 other ball clubs that might need an outfielder
that might need a first baseman somebody who has proven everything and more that they can
at the triple a level and needs that opportunity he would be a phenomenal Pittsburgh pirate right
now he would be a great Cincinnati red he would be a wonderful Miami marlin and hopefully
other teams are taking notice so my do
dude, Wardo can get some opportunity.
But really cool.
A couple of knocks, you know, taking some G hacks.
Well, one G hack seeing the first pitch in his major league career, gave it a ride,
you know, give it a fly out or was a fly out.
But really, really cool.
The fact that, you know, Dave acknowledged, hey, this guy should probably start this game
instead of Dalton rushing.
And Dalton also saying, yeah, bro, I was going to tell you, go let this guy play today,
give him that opportunity.
Really cool.
Really cool to see.
Seems like a nice guy.
Seems like a really hard worker.
is continue to grind and improve his game at the minor league level.
You've seen strides if you look at his minor league stats over the course of his career,
learning how to take a walk better, make better decisions in the box.
He's a good player.
He may not be a complete baseball player.
Definitely when you're talking about the Los Angeles Dodgers.
But for other baseball teams, 100%.
And I hope he gets an opportunity.
But good on Wardo.
Congrats.
A couple of knocks, a show RBI.
We love it.
I mean, but isn't that the whole point of why sometimes we say that Andrew Friedman is a genius?
I mean, this is just a piece of the puzzle, right?
We've talked about it at length and how it's going to take more than the 26-man roster.
It's going to take more than the 40-man roster.
This is a piece of the puzzle that while it might have been in audition for Ryan Ward for 29 or let's just say 25 of the other clubs,
this is still a piece of the puzzle that when you have a situation where one of your key guys,
your key cogs goes on the paternity list or on the IL or on.
on the bereavement list or whatever it is,
needs a blow.
You have a guy like Ryan Ward that can come up and produce
in the moments that he's been given.
Do we expect Ryan Ward to be Freddie Freeman?
No, he's not gonna need to be Freddie Freeman.
That's the whole point of knowing who you have,
putting them in places to succeed,
and also to his credit, knowing his role,
and also to Dalton Russians' Dulton Rushing's credit
saying, yeah, let's let this guy play today.
I, you know, it's just part of the bigger picture
is the Los Angeles Dodgers and good on him for getting a couple of knocks.
I'm happy for you. And it's going to be like, what have you done for me lately as soon as
Freddie Freeman is off of the paternity list. But that's okay. To your point, maybe the other
clubs are paying attention. Maybe he's a trade piece. It's part of a bigger package at the
deadline. Who knows? But whatever happens with the Dodgers, if they get a ring,
Ryan Ward gets a ring. One thing I'm a little bit concerned about Clint is this whole Edwin
Diaz situation where in your mind are things with the Dodgers closer because so much of pitching
especially the ninth inning guy is about velocity and it just hasn't been there yeah uh i mean it's
definitely become i mentioned last night you know for for the first time all season rokey susaki
was the b storyline of a baseball game but edwin diaz didn't pitch for eight to 10 days i forgot what it was
It was the 10th, and then he got into a game on the 19th.
And, yeah, couldn't record it out last night.
Three singles or three hits.
I forgot if they were all singles, but three hits.
A walk.
Three earned.
The velocity was down.
The control was not really there.
Did not have command necessarily of that fastball.
And the numbers on the season, not looking good.
They started out well, you know, I think a run over his first seven appearances.
But the last two with 10 days in between or whatever, three earned over an inning.
and three earned with no recorded outs.
And yeah, the velocity, is it an injury?
Is it something to do with that surgically repaired knee
that's not allowing him to push off with consistency
or without feeling pain, you know, whatever it is?
Obviously, the Dodgers aren't being very open and honest,
but it feels like Edwin Diaz isn't necessarily being open and honest.
And we've seen Dave Roberts kind of open the door to honesty.
Like, hey, we need the player to let us know.
where he's at, what he's feeling.
But it's definitely something that at this point in the season, it feels like a pretty big
spotlight.
And I want to ask you if it is something with a knee, if it's not 100% right, do you send
them to the IL?
Do you give him a blow right now when you know you need him in August, September, October?
Oh, yeah.
I mean, I think if it's going to cost you ball games now, I mean, it may only be middle of April,
but you never know what's going to happen in the remainder of the season.
And do I think the Dodgers will win the NOS? Sure, but I don't know that they're going to run away with it by, you know, 15 games.
So, yeah, I mean, if it's a matter of something that's just going to take time to heal by getting at rest, then yes.
I mean, if it's something larger than that, if it's a mechanical issue, well, if it's larger than that and it's going to take something surgical, well, that's a huge problem.
But if it's not, if it's not surgical, if it's not health related, if it's just a matter of giving it some time, then I'm okay with putting him on the IL for however length of time that needs to be.
because I do have trust in the rest of the bullpen to be able to get this done.
But it is concerning. And we're not the only ones talking about it.
Ken Rosenthal on his show today, Fair Territory with Ken Rosenthal talking about it,
how it's either that he's rusty or there's a bigger picture in terms of what is happening.
But if he continues to be run out there and he is giving up the save or giving up the ballgame
or losing games for this team on a consistent basis, then that is.
something that needs to be addressed. We'll see. We're going to see what his usage is. And then if they do
decide to put it on him on the IL, is it going to be retroactive? Is it going to be, you know,
for the minimum longer? Yeah, for the minimum that you can put. I don't know, but it is concerning.
The VLO is concerning. Is it the knee issue? Is it something else? When did this start? Is it because of,
you know, pitching in the World Baseball Classic? Is it, does it have anything to do with that? I don't know.
I mean, later in the season for Edwin-Dia's is much more important that he's healthy.
But again, you don't want it to get two out of hand early either.
Yeah, final thoughts on this before we throw to a break.
And we got more Dodgers territory coming up.
Appreciate you guys hanging out with us.
Like the show, subscribe to the show, all that kind of stuff.
We appreciate it.
But a lot of the conversation about the rust, yeah, taking that much time off in between.
That's a bit of a concern.
But the reason they take that much time off, they had them take that much time off,
is because clearly something is not physically all the way right.
And if he's going to be,
I think of Mookie Betts last year with the sickness
and developing bad habits in the swing
that took him months to get out of.
So if there is something,
some sort of inflammation that doesn't,
that's not allowing Edwin Diaz to really push off the way he's used to,
that could affect something else.
That could affect the shoulder.
It could affect an elbow.
It could affect the mechanics overall.
I'll reiterate,
he is much more important later in the season than he is right now.
You need to give him a blow.
I'm okay with it.
But this is something.
I don't know.
This might be the biggest thing to be monitoring right now is the health and effectiveness of the Dodgers closer, Edwin Diaz.
No, without question.
I mean, to me, he was the biggest off-season signing.
Certainly in terms of pitching, maybe in all of available position players and pitchers on the free agent market.
No, that's a huge blow.
That's a huge blow.
If you lose Edwin Diaz for any length of time, I'm certain that the.
The Dodgers training staff is all over this.
Hopefully it's not a big deal.
But yeah, I mean, if he goes on the IEL, hopefully it is for the minimum amount of time that needs to be done.
All right, more to come on Dodgers territory on this fine Monday afternoon, Alonarizzo, Clint Paseas.
But first, a word from our friends at Fowell Territory.

This seldom used not my problem because despite all of the crap we're talking about what the Dodgers
they are in first place. We'll talk about this in a second. But before we move on, I want to remind
folks, we do have YouTube members set up. It's not showing for some reason. I literally just put
it back in, but the software has been being a bit of a pill of late. But if you don't know what
YouTube members is you get different perks by signing up.
You support the show financially.
I think it's $3.99 to the show.
Yeah.
And with that, you get, there's badges, there's different emojis.
And we were having a conversation after last Thursday show, which people very much enjoyed
me and Alana being less professional.
That's water today, which is why she's lame.
But we're talking about doing members only happy hours, maybe like once a month or something
like that.
We'll probably introduce that once we reach like 25 members.
or something. So click that join button here on YouTube. If you want to support the show,
we'd appreciate it if you did that. If not, the best way to, the other best way to support
the show is like, subscribe, rate review, all that kind of stuff. But moving on to not my problem
here. We, a couple months ago, we're talking about the biggest threats to the Dodgers in their
pursuit of a three Pete. Who are the guys in the National League? Who are the teams in the
national league that we assumed would be good? And now, Alana, it's early.
I tell you, I tell you though,
but we did kind of bad so far.
I mean, we did, but is it,
is it us Clint that did a bad job predicting
or is it the teams themselves
that are doing a horrific job producing?
I'm gonna deflect and say that it's the teams
because if you look back at what we talked about
going into the season in terms of who was going
to be the biggest competition in terms of knocking
the Dodgers out for a three-peat.
This was the order that Clint and I and Katie discussed.
And we actually had a member
each of our podcasts, each of our territories, you know, the Phillies show, Mets Up, Northside
territory, Friars Territory, Brew, Territory, all the territories, Hammer and Hamron Territory,
come on and talk about why these respective teams were going to be the biggest threat to
the Dodgers in the National League. I tell you what, they all look like garbage. Take a look at
their records right now in terms of National League so far, their respective records. The
Philly's holy mother are really struggling. I truly thought, and again, it's April 20th.
This could all very much change. But as far as the top six that we decided, look at the records,
you guys. Philadelphia Phillies at 813. The Mets have lost 11 straight. Chicago, okay, winning record at
12 and 9. San Diego Padres, who are about to be sold, I think, for 3.9 billion, which is just
stupid money, 15 and 7. So they're obviously eight games above 500.
12 and 9 for the brew crew. I never count them out. I did not think that they would be as big
of a threat as the Mets, the Phillies, the Cubs, and then the Braves. The Braves are, I think,
probably surprising most folks at 15 and 7. So then I ask you this, Clint, who do you think
right now? Again, these records notwithstanding, but just what you've seen from these clubs,
Who is realistically the biggest threat to the Dodgers come September, October?
Yeah, I don't necessarily buy into those records that we see on there.
I'll go ahead and throw it back up for a second.
You know, it's funny.
We talked a lot about the Braves, and I'll get to your question there,
but we talked a lot about the Braves, and I said, I don't buy it.
The prognosticators, the odds makers really like the Atlanta Braves.
And so far, they're looking right.
even with all of the issues they had heading into the season with the health of their starting
rotation, be at 15 and 7, that's pretty good.
But also the NL East has struggled a whole bunch.
But really, the Phillies and the Mets are by far the biggest shockers of how terrible the Mets really have been.
They're the terrible one.
But the Phillies getting off to a bit of a slow start there.
Obviously, they had some changes in the offseason.
Bobeshet hasn't really worked out.
No, not Bobishet.
whoever I forgot they I forgot who they signed did they get Bo I'm thinking he went to the Mets did
that's right they missed that are you talking about are you talking about the Phillies the fact that
they kind of missed on the Phillies that well they got Kyle Schwerber back um they got uh yeah I mean
they didn't get they didn't get people they missed on a few people that they were going for but
and then of course the big decision to uh move off of Nick Castellanos and all that kind of stuff
but just so far a Philly's a bit of a shocker there. Padres, I had higher expectations for than other people.
They're exceeding so far. They've also played the Rockies a whole bunch. So grain of salt there.
But yeah, yeah, I don't know. I feel like we could file this under. It's very early for all of these teams.
We know the Dodgers, of course, doing well. We look in the NL West in general here.
Thank you, Mark. Yeah, that's right. The other guy, the other bat that the Phillies added at Elise Garcia.
But yeah, NL West, doing solid.
Really the division that's surprising me.
Look at these records from the NL Central. Central.
Central has been really good.
Does it surprise you, though?
Because I feel like both of the centrals in each league are always have so much parity.
And you really never know who's going to jump out and surprise folks.
I feel like they're always kind of neck and neck.
I mean, with the exception of the Tigers last year who were running away with it and then poop the bed.
And here come the guardians and end up winning the division, I think, by one game.
even though the Tigers gave up like a 15-game leader, some craziness.
I feel like for the most part, the Central Divisions are just that, kind of the middle of
the middle of the road, nobody really pulling away.
And it's kind of anybody's game.
And is I guess what surprises me?
Throw that back up there, if you don't mind, in terms of the NL Central Clint.
The Brewers never surprised me.
I feel like the Brewers are always going to be in some sort of contention.
But yeah, I mean, there's only a game and a half difference between the
the Reds who I, you know, again, the Reds were in the postseason last year.
They got knocked out in the first round, but who cares?
They were in the postseason.
St. Louis, whatever.
Pirates, I think there's a lot of fanfare right now about the pirates, obviously because
Paul Skeens is so good.
And obviously, you know, the huge extension with Connor Griffin, that's exciting.
But man, yeah, the NL in general is just kind of, and I really do feel the NL is still the
stronger league overall in terms of quality teams.
but we were a bit off.
Yeah, I'd be interested in, you know, revisiting this after another 20 games and kind of resetting
our NL competition because I do think the Reds are a little more for real.
And let's not forget, they were a playoff team last year.
The Dodgers did beat them, sweep them in the wild card a season ago, just a few months ago.
Cardinals, I'm learning a lot about the Cardinals these days.
these days they're a little bit of a surprising team there they're kind of running on some vibes they
have some young starting pitching that's doing some some decent things jordan walker having a a breakout
season um when he was somebody that they were talking about sending to triple a or d f a and all that
kind of stuff um you know i think at the end of the day the Phillies are going to be who we thought
they're going to be i think the Padres are going to end up being who i thought they're going to be
even though this is a little bit of smoke and magic but i would say
the Mets. I'll go back to this list. The Mets are the biggest shocker. And I don't know that they're
going to be able to crawl out of that. I don't know that they're going to be able to crawl out of a
seven and 15 start. And like you mentioned, losing 11 consecutive.
Yeah, that tough. That is tough. And it hurts for them. But I have to say, you know,
Ken Rosenthal also talked about this. They talked about it on foul. They're talking about it everywhere.
This is not a Mendi problem. This is not a Carlos Mendoza problem. Like you look at the way that
players play for their manager and what they say about their manager. This is not a Carlos
Mendoza problem. So yeah, I think it's incredibly shocking that the Mets have really scuffled as much
as they've had. And you know what they say, that old adage, the huge cliche, you can't lose
the pennant in April. You can't win the pennant in April, rather, excuse me, but you can lose it.
And they tell you what if, what if they don't win the division by two or three games or whatever?
And they don't get into the playoffs by two or three games because they scuffled so badly here in the month of April versus what could possibly happen for them if they get really hot later on in the season.
All right, let's spin it forward because it's important to talk about what the Dodgers are doing, guys.
We know you don't come here to learn about the Mets.
But the Dodgers versus the Giants for the first time this season, that will begin tomorrow because again they're wrapping up with the Rockies today.
The San Francisco Giants, nine and three to open the season.
This whole, sorry, 913, this whole thing, the experiment that is Tony Vitello is not going well.
What is your take?
Yeah.
When we're looking at the Giants, I thought there would be a little bit of something in there.
I don't think it's a manager as well, but they keep kind of, I don't know, I'm going to learn more.
I'm looking forward to learning more about the Giants.
I haven't paid a whole lot of attention.
So the series coming up is going to be fun to watch.
But I don't know.
I mean, it feels to me like even if Buster Posey was wrong to hire a college coach to be his manager, he's not going to admit it.
They're not.
There's no way.
So you're writing through this.
And, you know, 9 and 13 opportunities to get better.
But, you know, fourth place.
They're going to be a fourth place club.
I thought maybe they can get as high as third, maybe even challenged to be behind the Dodgers runner-ups.
But no, no.
I got some talent there with Devers and Matt Chapman, Willie Adomis, but Logan Webb has been asked to start the season.
He's even said as much.
Bullpen is a little bit of shakiness there, like not a lot of household names.
Looking forward to seeing that ball club.
Yeah, I think it's going to be a.
a fight to the fifth place finish between the Giants and the Rockies in terms of the National
League West.
Not that I feel bad for either team.
All right.
Much more Dodgers territory to come.
But first, a word about today's show sponsor, Seat Geek.

and now I've got my own show.

I apparently don't have the front end for that either.
So boop doop doop doop do do do do.
Dude, dude, here come the dogs.
Here comes to all right.
Things keep changing on me here.
That's okay.
Listen, you have a.
a wide variety of responsibilities.
You get a C minus for today's show.
However, let me introduce you to Nacho.
If you're watching us on YouTube,
he is on the left.
And Millie, she is on the right.
These two puppers are a bonded pair.
You know, sometimes you don't know who your friends are going to be.
These two don't look anything alike.
But they were found as strays roaming around Clint's neighborhood.
Maybe they're Clint's La Puente.
And they were cross.
a very, very, very busy street by themselves.
They were, not anymore, but they were flea infested.
And thankfully, a foster stepped up, and she is fostering them until we can get them adopted.
We got them groomed and a flea bath yesterday, so they're feeling much better.
It was last minute, so that was 210 bucks for a mobile groomer.
And then they are going to the vet this afternoon at 4 o'clock Pacific time.
So anyways, guys, we could use a couple bucks to help with their vet bills.
Neither one of them are altered.
So Guidry's Guardian Foundation will be taking care of the neuter, the spay, all of their
vet needs.
And eventually, they're going to need to be adopted.
We'd love to keep, we would love to keep them together if possible because they are bonded.
So please go to gidry's guardian.org.
If you can spare a couple bucks, we'd appreciate that very, very much.
All right.
Baseball thought for the road.
He was a member of the Dodgers for a very short time, Clint, Garrett Anderson, and I know how you love to make fun of the angels, but he arguably is one of the best angels to have ever put on an angel uniform.
And he helped them get to, what was it, the 2002 World Series or whatever the heck it was, the last time that they won.
Just your thoughts about the sudden loss of Garrett Anderson at 53.
Yeah, GA, GA was one of the good ones, you know, generally not a massive Angels fan.
am I but you know I got into watching baseball a little bit later in my life I'm a man
now I'm 40 but I didn't start watching really closely until like 2000 2001 so I really enjoyed
that Yankees diamondbacks world series and then I really was in on that Giants Angels world
series and GA obviously just such an integral part of that ball club and a baseball at the time and
you know it's funny he was kind of one of the original guys where
He doesn't show a lot.
He doesn't have a lot of emotion.
So he doesn't care about the game.
No, this is a guy that cared about the game.
He cared about the team.
And you saw it for, you know, the better part of a decade and a half in an
angel's uniform.
And we got to see a little bit of it in a Dodgers uniform.
Even at the end of his career, you know, some of the talent, some of the speed had waned
in his later years.
But he was just a good baseball player.
He was a good clubhouse dude.
And, you know, this is.
deserves a lot of love, a lot of respect, a lot of admiration around the league.
You've seen a lot of people are in front of the show.
Matt Kemp, shouting him out on his social media, giving him some love, other guys from that era, you know, getting into like D. Gordon.
I can't think of all the guys who have shared at least a little bit of love for GA, but a good one.
And, yeah, 53, just absolutely devastating.
So much love to GA's family and, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hopefully he already sells.
for him.
Yeah, his wife, his kids, of course.
I mean, so many people coming out and giving them, you know, paying their respects to Garrett
Anderson.
They loved him so much.
Tim Salmon, obviously, Mark Goobaza, Mike Trumbull, Mike Trout, Tori Hunter, on and on and on,
you name it.
Of course, many, many Dodgers as well.
So gone way too soon at the age of 53.
Justin Yama's number one says RIPGA.
Absolutely.
Well, that's going to do it here for us on Dodgers.
territory. A reminder that Clint and I are going to be back on Wednesday and Thursday for post game.
Since it's post game, Katie will be in the clubhouse doing her stuff for the athletic.

My dad gave me the best advice ever.
He goes, just give it a shot.
But if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall
and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit.
If you saw it written down,
it would not be an inspiration.
It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat.
Just hang in there.
Yeah, it would not be.
Right, it wouldn't be that.
There's a lot of luck.
