Starting point is 00:01:35 or wherever you get your podcasts. I'll say again, Dave pulled all the right levers tonight. And he has done that. This is arguably his best postseason as the Dodgers manager. This song has a little bit more meaning tonight, everybody. Welcome to a brand new postgame edition of Dodgers territory after game four of the NLDS, Alana Rizzo. Clint Paceas, your host for the evening on this. We're happy. This is a much better, happy program.
Starting point is 00:02:09 Thanks for being here. For those that are just joining us, welcome for the first time. For those that are back, welcome back. We appreciate you guys so much. Don't forget to rate us five stars. Like, subscribe on YouTube, wherever you get your podcast. How about this, my friend, cheers to thee. Cheers to thee in a Dodgers win, eight to nothing to force a game five. I this is a different I will say this before we get into your thoughts Clint great to be with you tonight always even if the Dodgers were to lose this game tonight there was a different fire in the clubhouse something that we were clamoring for yesterday something that we were praying that they had a little bit of emotion a little bit of anger a little bit of grit a little bit of tenacity even if it wasn't the result that we wanted I saw what I needed to see it ended up being an eight to nothing win they forced a game five. We're going back to Los Angeles. Tonight, my friend, is a good night. Listen, what I have to say about this team is we saw attack, attack, attack. You had to play like your lives depended on it because they did. Your lives did depend on this game.
Starting point is 00:03:16 Look, this series, it's going to game five. The script said it was supposed to go to game five. We know it was going there. MLB wants to make its money. So Dodgers, Padres play game five in Los Angeles Friday night at Dodger Stadium. Could you ask for more? You know, you couldn't ask for more. This is exactly how this was supposed to go down. I mean, it's two very competitive teams in the same division. By the way, you don't want to win the division. I've decided you don't want to win the division. You want to go the wildcard round because ask the Phillies. You know, I'm still alive. I'm still alive. I just, I love to fight tonight. And thank goodness that they decided to put Kiki Hernandez in the lineup. Whether it was because of injury or for whatever reason, changing it up,
Starting point is 00:04:03 I appreciate Kikee in there. Mookie did his job. Gavin Lux, Will Smith, welcome to the postseason. Will Smith. Welcome to the playoffs. Oh, it was great. I love how you sent me a text that said, extend Will Smith. He's been extended, bro, for 10 years, $100 million. I know you were doing it tongue and cheek, but honest to God, like, welcome to the postseason Will Smith. Yes, Diane, smash the like button for Clint and Alana. I appreciate that very much. This is what I needed to see from this team, especially after the way that they looked yesterday. Listen, a night ago, I was very heated. I feel like I had every right to be very heated about watching this team, watching that embarrassing display that we saw at Petco Park, seen no fight, no emotion, not getting anything
Starting point is 00:04:49 out of Dave Roberts, but credit to the man who, you know, I was calling for his head yesterday. He pulled every right lever in this game today, starting Kiki Hernandez, you know, letting Miggi Roe rest up after gambling last night, you know, CT3, we'll talk more CT3 in a second. He's in there because Freddie Freeman is a last minute scratch. But going to this bullpen game, I mean, I argue bullpen games, when you have as many lockdown arms as this team has, you know, there's a lot of things that could go right, but when it goes, or that can go wrong, but when it goes right, you see this And you see the Padres shut out at home, take that crowd out of it very early, very often. And it's just, it's an absolute drudging, a drubbing, whatever the word is.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Dodgers do good at baseball. What do you say? Words are hard. Words are hard. You know, it's funny, though, because you talked about the bullpen game. And I was like, oh, my goodness. So Dylan sees versus the bullpen game. Dylan ceased on short rest only lasted an inning in two thirds.
Starting point is 00:05:49 So it was essentially a bullpen game for the Dodgers and the Padres in this game. And I tell you what, I'm proud of this team. I know I was talking a bunch of smack yesterday. I believe it was warranted. I was worried about this team. There was no fire. There was fire tonight. We've been talking about the fact, and I said this on two different radio shows in L.A.,
Starting point is 00:06:09 not only on Tim Cates and Steve Stacks this morning, but also on Mason and Ireland this afternoon. Not having any sort of production from the bottom of the order is problematic, and they got it tonight. I loved seeing Kike, her name. Hernandez in the freaking lineup today. Whether that was the difference maker or not, I loved the fact. Look at the dugout. I wish we could go back for that for a hot second. If you, I mean, Tyler Glass now on the top step, like raising his arm, Clayton's in there.
Starting point is 00:06:38 Like people are excited. That is what I needed yesterday. And we got it today and 8 and O drubbing. And they're going back to Los Angeles and game five. And I have an unbelievable amount of confidence in this team. because of what I saw tonight. I'm grateful. I'm grateful that I saw a fire lit under their fannies.
Starting point is 00:07:00 Listen, good things happen when the middle of your lineup does good things. And you saw that Max Muncie, a massively important double in this game, seeing Will Smith break out with a, I mean, it was a monster shot because Petco Park is a very, very large ballpark. I love this comment. I do want to fire off some comments in here. I see Scott Braun in there. I know I feel like it's wrong to read Bronny. but he says it's simple.
Starting point is 00:07:24 You don't speak to Ken Rosenthal. You lose. And that's how it goes. Amanda Z with a $5 super chat says the Dodgers showed what they can do when they get good pitching and the offense steps up. And like you were saying, Alana, up and down the lineup, Kike Hernandez. Everybody not named Chris Taylor who gets his golden sombrero tonight. Everybody did a little bit of something in this game,
Starting point is 00:07:47 including Tommy Edmund nearly getting a bunt single but still brings in a run because you were starting to worry. hey, they haven't scored in a while. You have that moment there where the ball goes off the umpire and, and Shohei is, is gunned down at home? That was a pretty like, oh,
Starting point is 00:08:01 no, is it happening again kind of moment? But they just kept stomping on their throat, stomping on their necks, and, you know, never let them get back into this game. The Dodgers never let the Padres get back into this game.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Why was Mr. Bunting in that situation? I mean, do they have no, do they have no, they have no faith in him? So they make him blunt? I don't think they do.
Starting point is 00:08:24 I mean, first and third and you're bunting. I was hoping he was going to have, I was hoping he's going to have like a Juan Uribe moment, you know, Shades of 2013. It did not show up. But we do have a 499 super chat from Bob Nightingale says, let's go. Let's run another bullpen game Friday, which I'm assuming you wouldn't be terribly opposed to because we know who's supposed to be starting Friday for the Dodgers. I'm good.
Starting point is 00:08:46 I'm good with the bullpen game. And then Richard Flores says it's refreshing that a team could win a must-win game without taunting and disrespecting the game. Keep poking the bear. Padres P standing up after all. Maybe I shouldn't have read that last part. But yeah, the other thing, Dodgers do what they do best.
Starting point is 00:09:04 And sometimes I love it. Sometimes I hate it tonight. I love it. When you're winning, you love it. Very professional attitude out of this Dodgers organization. Up and down. There was professional attitude, Clint, but there was also fire.
Starting point is 00:09:16 There was also emotion. You can be professional, but you can also want your team to, you know, if you see your opponent drowning, shove a hose in their mouth. And that's exactly what I needed to see. And that's what we saw. To your point, they didn't let the team back in the game.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Kevin, what's up from Kevin? Say it with me, Kiki with classes equals good. Yes. Kiki in the lineup, Kevin is good. Like I like, there's a reason that Kike is on the roster and it's for postseason. It's for this time right now, October 10th. This is why Kiki is in the lineup. This is why you change up the lineup.
Starting point is 00:09:50 This is why you change up the order. This is, I'm just, I'm so, I know it sounds ridiculous. Like, I'm so proud of this team. I'm so proud of what they showed me tonight. A little bit of them, a little bit of vigor. They put together the good at bats. They, like, the pitching was good enough. You know, I love this.
Starting point is 00:10:08 This is what I needed to fricking see yesterday. And I'm, and I'm proud. Maybe they listened to us. Like, maybe they said, you know what? Let's listen to Clint Paseas and Alana Rizzo on Dodgers territory. And we needed to see more fire out of it. I love it. The IG Reels hit.
Starting point is 00:10:22 The my G. I love it. Hey, how about this guy? You ever heard of this dude, Mookie Betts all of a sudden back to back? Yeah, we can't. We can't be on him anymore because we were crushing Mookie when he was 0 for four and saying that Mookie had the struggle in the postseason. Mookie's been unbelievable.
Starting point is 00:10:37 And it's funny because I was like trying to flip through all the games before the Dodger game even started. And I was like, oh shit, Mookie already hit a home run. And you know, like early on in the game, I'm like, here we go. Like this is, okay. But then we saw what happened yesterday, right? So I was like, you're just kind of like a little bit nervous about, okay, how is this going to go? But this is exactly what you needed to see to take the crowd out of it.
Starting point is 00:10:57 And big respect to the Padres fans and the crowd and how loud Petco Park has been. But this is what we needed from the beginning of the game to the end of the game, shutting it down. I loved it. This is the complete game I needed to see from this club. And it gives me an unbelievable amount of faith. The day off tomorrow, coming back to Dodger Stadium, Friday night. let's get it done. And you move on to the freaking NLCS to meet the New York Mets.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Riz, I got a gotcha moment then here for you. Is it still Padres in five? That's what I'm wondering. Ah, crap. Why do you hate me so much? I thought you were my boy. I thought you were my partner. I'm just taking the crowd so you can get on top.
Starting point is 00:11:39 We already addressed this. Obviously, you want the Dodgers to win. But entering there, of course I want the Dodgers to win. You know, I'm, I'm going to change my tune. I'm going to say the Dodgers. I'm going to say the Dodgers win. I do.
Starting point is 00:11:55 I think the Dodgers win on Friday. I am a little nervous about Yamamoto. I'm not going to lie to you. I've been nervous about Yamamoto. It's Yamamoto versus Starvish. You have for the entirety of the season for what it's good. I have, and I'm not going to change that. It's Yamamoto versus Starvich who shoved it down our throats with Shohei playing.
Starting point is 00:12:16 That's a massive game in Japan, obviously. It'll be on Saturday morning there, but you know those folks, those amazing baseball fans will be up. Yeah, I think the Dodgers, I think the Dodgers forced the issue and they went at home. I think this game four usually is the odd number games that are super pivotal, but this game was massive. Obviously, it was an elimination game. But this game, the way that they showed up showed me something, and I'm proud of this team. I really am. I know that sounds stupid and I'm supposed to be unbiased, but I'm not.
Starting point is 00:12:46 I'm like, you know, there's still, there's still guys in that clubhouse that I remember I was their first interview. You know, I remember when they got drafted. I remember when they got signed. I remember when they came up to the stadium for the first time, you know, like I love this team. So I'm, you know, I love what I saw tonight. I'm grateful. I'm grateful that they forward. I thought this post game show tonight was going to be an absolute freaking train wreck.
Starting point is 00:13:09 And here we are talking about it was a very positive, positive day. I'm looking forward. I'm looking forward to Friday. Yeah, well, we'll talk about Friday in just a little bit. There's a couple of things. I love what Sarah, our producer Sarah brought up. We had Matt Camp on a couple weeks ago. One of the things he did while he was on our show,
Starting point is 00:13:28 praise the living hell out of Kike Hernandez and what he does bring to an organization. Look, people that have been watching me do this for years, no, I've not. I've never been extremely high on Kike Hernandez. You changed your tune tonight on Padres in Five. I'm changing my tune fully. all the way in on Enrique Hernandez. That's my, like my best friend, Gavin Lux, of course, you know, BFF, going to be in each other's weddings, I'm assuming.
Starting point is 00:13:56 Love Gavin, two-hit game, Homer off a lefty tonight. But Kike Hernandez, there's an intangible you get with that dude. It doesn't seem like the moment is ever too big for Kike. We've seen it in a Dodger uniform. You've seen it a little bit in a Boston uniform in the postseason. And now you get to see it again in a Dodger uniform. And I do not think you can take him out of a line. lineup moving forward, whether that's one more game or whether that's what nine more wins
Starting point is 00:14:22 this Dodgers team needs. You need to have him in the lineup. I've been saying that the whole time. Like there's a reason that Kike Hernandez is who Kike Hernandez is. And he's, he's important in the postseason. He has the postseason experience. What is Kenny Chung saying Yama is going to have a short lease? Well, shit, he better. Flaherty will have to take over, piggyback, got to win the LCS and figure it out if they advance pushing all the tips. I'm with you, man. Kenny is, Can he spot on? Like, it's all hands on deck for Friday. But I don't know.
Starting point is 00:14:51 I have so much more confidence in it. It's amazing what 24 hours is done. Because yesterday, I was like, I'm going to burn my house down. This is horrible. And today, today I'm feeling pretty great. We had that in L.A. And then we had that here in San Diego. It's a very, very, listen, postseason baseball, man.
Starting point is 00:15:11 It's rough on the old ticker. It is absolutely rough. on the old ticker. But we get to play a game five. That's the important thing. Your Dodgers are playing a game five. And I mean, we should be looking probably ahead at that a little bit. What do you want to do right now, Lana? We're going to talk about this more, but let's have a moment after a quick word from AJ Pursonsky, Eric Kratz, and Scott Braun on heel. We get it. Mornings are nuts. All right, Clint, when you lay your head down on that pillow tonight, what's the
Starting point is 00:17:24 one, the biggest thing that you're going to take away from this game? What do you think was the most pivotal thing in game for, again, it was eight to nothing, but I think there's more to it than that. They may look like the Dodgers, oh, absolutely abolish them. But no, I think that there's a lot to pick apart on this game. What's the one thing you're going to take away? Will Smith, Homer. I needed to see it.
Starting point is 00:17:45 I needed to see some life out of William Dills Smith. And we saw it. This team needs it when you don't have your, you know, either four or five or five, six hitters doing something in the lineup. You're not going to have a good time. And we straight up did not have a good time in games two and three. But getting Will going, if that is the hit that gets them going, if that's the swing that gets him going.
Starting point is 00:18:07 I feel extremely confident about this team in game five. I also feel confident. I mean, there's a lot of game five. We could talk later on, but listen, if we're talking you, Darvish, he's returning to the scene of the crime. In elimination, final game series. You know, there won't be any trash cans at Dodger Stadium this time,
Starting point is 00:18:30 but I'm hoping the demons get to him this time. I love you Darvish. I think he's a great pitcher. I think he's done a lot of great things for the teams that he's pitched on. A lot of great things for Japan and the game of baseball. But give him hell. Make him feel pain, the same pain that we felt in game seven of that 2017 World Series. And on the flip side, let Yoshinobu Yamamoto, let him exercise those demons from game one.
Starting point is 00:18:58 So I can text you. Ha, ha. Look at how good my guy Yama is. I hope so. I hope so. We gave him $5 billion. I hope he's phenomenal in game five. I hope he's really good moving forward in the postseason. I hope he's good for years to come as a Dodger because $325 million is a shit ton of money. Okay, I agree with you on the Will Smith home run. I also think just there's something about Kike being in that lineup. And I applaud Dave. I applaud the front office for changing it up. I understand Freddie's hurt. I understand Maggie's hurt. So it's
Starting point is 00:19:33 probably out of necessity. But I just felt really good about Kiki being in there. There's just, it brought me back. And maybe it's just nostalgia. Maybe it just takes me back to 2018 and 2020. And, you know, when it was the bellies and the Seegers and the Kikis and the Chris Taylor's and, you know, all that stuff. But there's something to be said about when you're back is against the wall and the guy has nothing to lose, like he just goes out there and I don't know, he just brought a different element to the game that I really appreciated. And I think, think that's again it's like it's a it's a you know a cyclical effect and it just kind of rolls forward and here we are an eight to nothing win to force game five eight to nothing at petco and they
Starting point is 00:20:15 were they were rowdy they were loud but we took them out of the game early and that's exactly what you needed to do when the lineup hits the team is unbeatable yeah that's usually how it goes and you're going to win more on kike for a second the only reason he's in that lineup is because Miggie Rowe is injured. Yet still on the lineup. If he can't post today, I don't know if I want, if Miguel Rojas says he's ready to go,
Starting point is 00:20:41 I don't know that I want him starting a game. You know, he has his own now. Miguel's not ready to go. Like he's, his groin is like, he's not ready. Yeah, he's running on strings, but if he's not ready to go,
Starting point is 00:20:56 if he's unable to answer the bell in any way, shape, or form, if he's completely unavailable tonight, he should not be on the active roster. And I don't know why you don't make some sort of change. You don't make a move. But if he is going to stay in the roster, if he feels that he could maybe make some sort of difference for this team down the road, he shouldn't be starting.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Love Miggie Rowe. We've been praising Miggie Rowe on this program all season long. Friend of the show, he's been on this channel. Had great chat with him earlier this year. But if you're hurt, there's a fair chance you're going to hurt the team. And there's a difference between being hurt and being injured. And I think he's injured. Let me tell you this, though.
Starting point is 00:21:36 This is something that I appreciated too. So there was this whole thing about Miggie, like he was out playing cards. First of all, I don't give a shit that you were out playing cards. Okay. There's a massive difference. And I don't even know if it's true or not with everything in this world with AI and who knows? I don't care. The point is there's a massive difference between going out at midnight and going out
Starting point is 00:21:59 at 8 a.m. There's also a massive difference that if he's hurt and can't play versus a rookie, I mean, there's a lot of different factors. I don't care. These guys are human beings. They're allowed to let off steam. He was probably pretty pissed that he didn't, you know, flip the ball over and get that double play, this, that, and the other thing. But he was so upset and put it on Instagram about how there's nobody that wants to win more than the guys in the clubhouse. That is the stuff I was looking for yesterday. I just, and I know that you can. But I think you need to outwardly show that you care. For the fans that are putting all of this effort and love into this team,
Starting point is 00:22:38 and for the fans that are spending harder money on the tickets to get to the stadium and go to the games and to support you, people that are trying to like, whatever's going on in their world, they look to baseball and they look to you for a little bit of levity and a little bit of peace. They want to know that you give a shit as much as they do. And I loved the fact that McGee put that out there. Like, hey, nobody cares about this more than the players in that clubhouse. That is a leadership move to me. And I loved seeing that from him. So I agree with you.
Starting point is 00:23:10 If he's too injured and he can't. Alana's much more. Yeah, I know. I'm a trainer on Dodgers territory because I'm allowed to say what I want. $10 super chat. Appreciate you, Jay. Custing, relaxed, Dodgers territory. Alana is much more fun.
Starting point is 00:23:28 professionals. We're all counterpoint or maybe just add on to the Miguel Rojas showing leadership that you're talking about here. The problem was he did it in response to somebody in comments on Instagram. That's not really
Starting point is 00:23:43 outwardly, you know, in the post game with S&LA or whoever being like listen, I across this team. But if you're poked, I appreciate the response. I appreciate the response. He's like, yeah, nobody wants to win more than they do. And I appreciate the response from him. So there was a little bit of
Starting point is 00:24:02 that fire that I needed to see. Yeah. So I want to see some more. We need to see some more fire in game five on Friday here in L.A. Amanda Z doesn't want to see Muncie batting forth. Hey, listen, it worked for the Dodgers tonight. I think this is the lineup they go with. The only change I would do, I would love to see Luxie. If Freddie's not in there, we'll love to see Luxie batting up in that three hole if we're just having some lineup fun here. But again, it ain't broke. Don't fix it. The Dodgers have scored seven runs and eight runs and their wins.
Starting point is 00:24:35 So something's going right. Maybe I, again, maybe I was a little, a little hasty last night. I'm not, I'm not hasty in asking for my, my maybe Dave Roberts or talking about Dave Roberts. Maybe he's not the right voice for this team anymore. Or the record, I never wanted Dave Roberts to lose his job for the record. I wanted more fire out of Dave. I wanted somebody to like, you know, one, all right, from the runner on second,
Starting point is 00:25:00 I hope people are starting to give Doc his flowers. Yeah, I, again, I don't want the guy to lose his job because I don't know. Who else is out there that's going to be better? And everyone's like, oh, Skip Schumacher. Listen, he's had 10 minutes with the Dodgers organization, okay? Like, it to calm down. Listen, the only thing I'll say about Dave is, or about the situation is we're talking about the team needing to play with that fire.
Starting point is 00:25:22 this team kind of arguably needs to be playing for their manager. They need to be playing because, you know, have that spark, saving his life, saving his job. I mean, there's a very high unlikelyhood or it's a very low likelihood that he would lose his job because we know how much this organization loves him. But when you do the same thing, when you lose in the first round over and over, and it's the same kind of problems. The only conversation I'm bringing up is you need a change.
Starting point is 00:25:49 Okay, let me ask you this. Okay, let me ask you this then. All right. So why are we losing in the first round? Is it because of managerial decisions or is it because of lack of execution from the players on the team? Is it managerial decisions or if it's lack of guys going deep into games or not being able to hit with runners in scoring position or not getting the big hit? Like it's not Dave's fault that everyone on this flipping team is hurt. It's not Dave's fault that the guys in the bottom of the order until tonight we're. producing like what what's going to change if the manager changes like are we losing games because of managerial decisions or are we losing games because of lack of execution and lack of production from players and lack of healthy living players yeah that's not dave's problem it's not his fault and and it's it's the whole it's a change for the sake of change the argument i'm going for here if it's not him then it should be a danny layman or a bob garren or mark prior who you know very well. I love deeply. It's, it's one of those things where there needs to be some sort of
Starting point is 00:26:55 accountability. And it feels weird having this conversation after the Dodgers win. I'm just, you know, I guess responding to my stance last night. Somebody needs to be held accountable for the team's continued struggles and continued failures in the postseason or else they could just keep doing it. So that's what I'm saying is, is this team now kind of playing for their manager. They're not even playing for their jobs, but they're playing for their manager's job and to not have to have media talking about Dave all off season long, which we've all gone through. We've all heard. Andrew Friedman, Brandon Gomes, have addressed these questions, each of the last three post seasons and eight of the nine that Dave has been running this team. You're playing for that.
Starting point is 00:27:42 You're playing to not have to deal with that. And I'll say again, Dave pulled all the right levers tonight. And he has done that. This is arguably his best postseason as the Dodgers manager, pulling the right levers, making the right moves at the right time, bringing in the right pitchers. But again, it's about accountability. If this team gets bounced in game five, you're set up for success. You're bringing it home. You have your ace on the mound. You spent $325 million on this dude. You have everything set up now for you to win. Yeah, you might not have a healthy Freddie. You might not have a healthy Miguel Roe. but you are primed to win a baseball game.
Starting point is 00:28:22 You just saw you Darvish a couple days ago. You should be able to win this and go on and play them Mets. If not, there's no reason the Dodgers should not win on Friday night. There's no reason. Ambitious, well-intentioned, ferocious and wealthy. Mother looks like in the black community. This Woman's History Month, the podcast Keep It Posit, Sweetie, celebrates the power of women choosing healing, purpose, and faith, even when life gets messy.

Starting point is 00:29:16 It's the new me. And it's the old them. Everybody's on their journey. And your journey is different to this. This Woman's History Month, the podcast, if you knew better with Amber Grimes, spotlights women who turn missteps into momentum and lessons into power. I think coming out of where I came from, I'm from the Bronx. I think I grew up really poor.
Starting point is 00:29:35 I didn't know that then because I very much used my creativity to romanticize life. And I'm like, my mom did a really good job of like, you step back and you're like, whoa, we, I don't know how we made it. So a lot of my life was, like, built out of, like, survival to get to the next place. Like, my drive, my, like, tunnel vision of, like, I got to be better. I got to achieve this was off the strengths of, like, I want to make a better life for us. If You Knew Better brings real talk from women who've lived it, unpacking career pivots, relationship lessons, and the mindset shifts that changed everything. Listen to If You Knew Better with Amber Grimes on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:30:16 Babes, what are you doing? What? I'm just mowing the lawn. No, it's blazing hot and dry out here. Don't you remember? Smokey Bear says, Avoid using power equipment when it's windy or dry. Where'd you learn this? Oh, it's on...
Starting point is 00:30:32 Smokeybear.com with many other wildfire prevention tips. Right. Thanks, honey, bear. Because remember, only you can prevent wildfires. Brought to you by the USDA Forest Service, your state forester and the ad council. I want to know why so many of their pitchers get hurt. They've got to figure that. I agree with you. That's a huge thing.
Starting point is 00:30:52 I mean, I don't know if that's the training staff. Like, I don't want to point the finger at anybody, but that's a massive problem. And it's not just the Dodgers. It's a freaking epidemic as far as pitchers are concerned with major injuries and Tommy John and all of the things. But again, that's not Dave. But that's neither here nor there. I don't want Dave to lose his job. I think Dave does a fine job.
Starting point is 00:31:16 I think going back to Dodger Stadium, now this game four was so huge. It showed me something that this team still has it. And I think that's going to massively catapult them into success on Friday. And going home helps being around, you know, the Dodger fans and all of the things. I mean, you just saw the Padres fans. They were as dejected and, you know, sad as we were yesterday. You know what I mean? Like you look at the crowd and you look at the crowd.
Starting point is 00:31:45 and you look at the players, and that's exactly how the Dodgers were yesterday. So it's like turnabout is fair play, right? That's exactly what needs to happen to the Padres on Friday. What I loved about that as we get a 99-cent super chat from Jay Smooth 23. Thank you very much. Jay Smooth. What I loved about it as well is Petco Park was so out of it.
Starting point is 00:32:08 Joe Davis and John Smoltz were able to have a conversation at this level. They didn't need to yell. They didn't need to talk over the crowd. So I have to hear from people that, oh, Joe Davis wants the Padres to win. It's like, no, he's very, very, very good at his job being a neutral game caller and making each and every play an exciting moment in the game. But that's just part of, like, that's just part of fandom, right? It's everybody thinks that Joe Buck hates their teams.
Starting point is 00:32:36 Everybody thinks that Joe Davis is a homer. I mean, Joe Davis is right down the middle when he calls national games, you know? The same thing with Brian Anderson. It's like Brian Anderson does the TBS games. If the Brewers were still in it playing the Mets or the Phillies, like that's that's for another podcast. Like broadcasting, broadcasting territory 101 type of situation.
Starting point is 00:32:58 By the way, breaking news from Jack Harris. So Freddie Freeman and the team decided at breakfast today that he was not going to play tonight, but they opted for a little bit of games. Why they do such a late scrap out, like the gamesmanship. That was a little bit of one of these,
Starting point is 00:33:13 the Mike Schilt. Hmm. That's fine. All right. So super chat from, how do you guys think San Diego feels returning to L.A? I mean, I think San Diego has a lot of confidence. Nobody, San Diego does not want to go to game five. Okay. The Dodgers obviously want to go to game five. San Diego does not, in my opinion. But I don't think they're going to bow down or be scared. But obviously the Dodgers have the advantage. You're home. It's game five. It's your crowd. It's your stadium. You have the last at bat. You know, this is the opportunity for you to get out of this. bugaboo of being bounced in the first round and move on. And, and, and, and then you meet, I think if the Dodgers get out of this fricking round, they go to the World Series. Like, this has been such a hurdle and a roadblock for this team, the last couple of years, just get, getting out. And by the way, I don't want to win the division for the rest of our lives. I'm fine going as the wildcard team for the, the future of this organization. Because the
Starting point is 00:34:10 freaking division winners don't, they're not rewarded. in the current playoff system so if we win friday we go to the world series i really i truly believe that postseason is is absolute dog shit the way uh the way this is works or stinks it stinks it doesn't reward division winners no no they should recede that they should reseed after the wild card round i agree i agree i got i got very little to add to that i hate it i absolutely hate how uh this new format. It's been terrible. It hasn't worked for any division winners even slightly. Agreed. Are we getting everybody in?
Starting point is 00:34:55 What are we doing? No, I'm just asking, are we getting everybody in in the chat? Oh, yeah. No, I mean, the chat, the chat's here. The chat's having a good time, but I need to know where we're, you know, this is, we're, guys, we will be back tomorrow. So we're trying not to get too much into game five yet. We need to pocket some. stuff to talk about tomorrow. So maybe this is where we signed off tonight. You tell me, Alana, I'm good with it.
Starting point is 00:35:19 I think we had a good time. I don't want to be here making the decisions, but I feel. I have elevated you to decision maker, Clint Pisces, Dodgers territory, decision maker. No, I'm glad. I'm happy. I'm in a good mood. This is a good thing. I saw a lot that I needed to see.
Starting point is 00:35:36 Clint and I will be back with you on a brand new Dodgers territory, our normal time, tomorrow Thursday at noon Pacific and 3 p.m. Eastern. We're talking obviously tomorrow all about game five and how the Dodgers forced it. More importantly, what they need to do in game five against the Padres to force the issue and meet the Mets in the NLCS. Thanks for being with us on this postgame show. We really appreciate you guys. Like, subscribe, rate as five stars, wherever you get your podcast and on YouTube. Thanks so much. Have a good night. We'll see you tomorrow. Dodgers in five. Bye. Then she says, have you seen a photo of my son?
