Episode Date: September 17, 2026

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell leaves his start after one inning with an injury. Alanna Rizzo and Clint Pasillas react to Snell's early exit and provide updates on the 2 time Cy Young award w...inner. Past the Snell news, there was not a whole lot to write home about in a 6-2 loss for LA. Still, we make the most of it hanging out with the chat and randomly bashing Manny Machado by the end of the show. But at this point, I'm sorry, you miss a boatload of time, you miss more than half of the season, and now they've taken you out of the game because of green tightness.
Starting point is 00:01:42 At this point, I'm starting to get irritated. What up, everybody? Welcome to this live, brand new episode of Dodgers Territory, the post-game edition on this Wednesday, September 16th. Alana Rizzo, Clint Paseas with you, Katie Wu, is off in terms of this series. I guarantee you she is still paying attention. The Dodgers magic number is one. They're going to need help, Clint, from the San Diego Padres, who will hopefully lose tonight because then they get in, but that's not the way you want to go about it. I would like to know your thoughts about this game. Let's get to this. What do you think about
Starting point is 00:02:32 this? Yeah, I mean, right off the bat, just a snore fest. It's a boring game. It's a a dull game from the Dodgers offense. I think they are feeling exactly how I'm feeling, how we're both feeling, kind of sleepy, kind of out of it. We both want to be just in bed right now. But that is not really the full story of the game. The story of the game is Blake Snow exits after one inning and 19 pitches. We've got to talk about that here in On Deck, presented by Fox 1.
Starting point is 00:03:06 You're absolutely correct. I mean, that is the story of the game. He throws one scoreless inning before exiting the game. we find out later on that it is growing tightness. The velocity Clint was noticeably down. I mean, this is not the first time that Blake Snell has experienced this sort of issue. You can see there from Fabia and Ardaya, this is something that he's been dealing with over the course of his career. But at this point, I'm sorry, you missed a boatload of time.
Starting point is 00:03:33 You missed more than half of the season. And now they've taken you out of the game because of growing tightness. At this point, I'm starting to get irritated. At this point, I'm starting to get pissed. At this point, I'm like, you know what? Like, you got signed to a massive contract. Like, I'm not okay with groin tightness and being taken out of the game. I'm sorry.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Like, I'm sure that that's not fair of me. I'm sure that that's, you know, unrealistic of me. But, bro, like, you've got to be able to post. You have to be able to go in there and be able to give this team what they need. You've missed so much time. and now we have to wonder how long he's going to be out. Is he going to be okay for the postseason? Maybe it's nothing, but maybe it is.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Yeah, we saw people reporting on the internet after, you know, a few winnings after he's removed that the expectation is that he will make his next start. Hopefully, you know, they caught this early enough. But yeah, you mentioned the history part of it. And my buddy Jeff Spiegel pointed out a lot more on social media about that. you know, missed time in five weeks in 2022 with a growing issue, eight weeks in 2024 with an issue, then, you know, came back, missed more time. I think this was an extremely out of precaution early exit because him staying in this game
Starting point is 00:04:58 didn't really matter, honestly. Yeah, in the grand scheme of things for the Dodgers trying to win a baseball game today. and I guess you could say needing to not burn the bullpen. This is what I'm trying to go with this. Burn the bullpen ahead of a bullpen game tomorrow. The more important thing is making sure that he doesn't try to tough up, nut up, and injure himself further with the postseason two weeks away, less than two weeks away. But I mean, like, but why do, I mean, I feel like we have to wear kid gloves with him.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Like, I mean, he just got back 10 minutes ago, and now we're worried about a grand injury. Like, this is a guy that's supposed to be, I mean, in a rotation of aces on a roster of aces, he's supposed to be one of your aces. I mean, this is a guy that's obviously a two-time Sy Young Award winner. It was a massive, massive get. A lot of money was given to him. And he's not healthy. He's just never healthy.
Starting point is 00:05:57 Like, he's not healthy. Glass now's not healthy. I mean, again, this may not be a big deal. Maybe you're right. Maybe they're being super caution, cautious. maybe they're being very precautionary, but I'm tired of this. Like I'm tired of be like, oh, well, there he goes again. And this is what's fun about what we do here.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Sometimes we get to be or have to be measured. Other times we get to both sit here and be overreactionary. You know, is it disappointing that he was pulled from this game after just 19 pitches? Yeah, you know, having to kind of get everybody up and ready to work as early as they did. Not ideal. But again, for the greater picture, hopefully this is something they caught early enough. It is funny. So before the game today, earlier in the afternoon in Cincinnati, Roki Sasaki,
Starting point is 00:06:45 through a four-inning 48-pitch simulated game, I'm betting you there wishing they didn't blow that load here, because tomorrow is going to be interesting. You'll probably see Bobby Miller get optioned tomorrow. and the return of Landon Nack to help cover some innings. But all in all, I'm going to take the positive side of this, the fact that what we're hearing is that, again, precautionary, they expect him to make his next start. Again, super early that we're hearing that.
Starting point is 00:07:22 But if it is something where they caught it early enough and no reason to push him in this. And I had popped this screen up a little bit ago, But you also noticed, again, early in this game. Well, everything was early because he only threw one inning. So everything was early when it comes to Blake Snell. But yeah, he was noticeably down with the fastball velocity. And that's something where, you know, he wasn't really able to stride to his usual capabilities.
Starting point is 00:07:48 And no reason to get yourself hurt for, as my buddy, Jeff Snyder would say, just one game. I understand that. And I want to bring something up of people commenting in the chat. And of course, the chat is great. We love you guys commenting. But this is something that I find quite interesting because obviously this dude knows nothing about me. Matthew 1970 something. Alana quit complaining and honestly quit with your attitude.
Starting point is 00:08:11 I've been hearing a lot of it lately and it's not a good look for you. I'm the most fucking positive person when it comes to the Dodgers ever, Matthew. So you know what? Take a knee, sir. I never complain about this team. I'm never negative about this team. You don't watch the show enough and you know nothing about my tenure with this team. So if I say that I'm worried about Blake Snell always being hurt, it's a cause for concern.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Okay? Yeah. So shove it. Yeah. I mean, you are the queen of it's going to be great. It's going to be great. And obviously our first year going through the 2024 postseason, people have this impression that you were like, oh man, I love the Padres.
Starting point is 00:08:51 I hope the Padres won. No, you were asked a question bluntly, who do you think ends up winning this series? even the Dodgers after the fact said the Padres were the better team in that series. Dodgers got really, really lucky that they got on a heater and the Padres went ice, flipping cold with the bats after the fact. But yeah, you are somebody who is always very quick to defend, but you're not. I'm pretty freaking positive. I'm pretty like glasses, like rose-colored glasses when it comes to this team. Okay.
Starting point is 00:09:24 So I don't want to hear it. Anyway, moving on. One last other thing. So I could also understand your point with now two regular seasons with the Dodgers, a total of 19 starts for Blake's now. He was getting a lot of money for the team. So I can understand adding to your pile of frustration to him there. It's just, I feel like it's every other, I mean,
Starting point is 00:09:48 he's not pitched a full season for this team since being acquired. And again, he's an amazing, obviously, obviously. He has two Sy Youngs. I was excited, excited when they signed him. I'm still excited that Blake Snell is in our rotation, and he's not in anybody else's rotation. But the point is, and maybe they are. Maybe they're being super, super duper cautious,
Starting point is 00:10:10 because all they need to do is San Diego needs to lose and they win division in the division. And that's the goal, right? That's the first box to check, and I get it. But I just get, I'm over the like, oh, what's happening with Blake Snell? up what's happening with Tyler Glass now. Anyway, moving on.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Yeah. Sorry. Yeah. The music you love. I heart radio. Your favorite radio stations. Everywhere you go. The podcasts everyone's talking about. All in one place.

Starting point is 00:12:10 Listen to NFL Pro on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. The new NFL season is here, and you should be listening to NFL Daily as we march along to Super Bowl 61. Last year, we had Mike McDonald, Sam Darnold, on the field. after the game. But that was last year.
Starting point is 00:12:33 If you're a football sicko like me, NFL Daily is your kind of show. It is in the name NFL Daily, fresh content in your feed every day all season long. Matthew Stafford coming off his MVP season. On a dazzling darts from Matthew Stafford. Big time trades that shake up the NFL. A.J. Brown is loose. And of course, those Seahawks trying to run it back and win another Lombardi trophy. The Seahawks win Super Bowl 60.
Starting point is 00:13:04 They are bringing the Lombardy back to the northwest. If it's happening on a football field, NFL Daily will cover it. Listen to NFL Daily on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. Other parts, you know, not a whole lot of great overall with this game, the bullpen, and ends up surrendering all of the runs there for the, for the, for the, Reds, what was the final score, six to two with the Reds there. Seth Halverson, that's somebody I'm really negative on. I'm done with him, two-run Homer to, of course, it's going to be to Ellie Dele Cruz. Elie's just like a fantastic player, but a couple of runs allowed by Bobby Miller in there,
Starting point is 00:13:48 a couple of runs by Jack Dreyer. Chris Bubich makes his Dodger debut, clean inning there. And Ryan Ward against the DFA because of it. Yeah. I'm happy for Wardo to finally get an opportunity, he may be. Obviously, not immediately. Got a whole off-season. Nobody's going to pick him up now. But hopefully he goes somewhere, absolutely tears the cover off the ball. Agreed. As far as this segment of the show goes, to again, once again, put a positive pin on this.
Starting point is 00:14:20 Signs are pointing in the direction that Blake's now will make his next start for the Dodgers. And he should be available for the Dodgers. postseason time. So might as well watch the postseason by hanging out with our friends at Fox 1. MLB on Fox is streaming on Fox 1. You got some games this week as well. Games tomorrow night. Games over the weekend. Starting point is 00:15:21 It helps us tremendously. All right, let's talk about the Dodger offense, Clint. A game of opportunities, seven hits. eight walks, but 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position. That's my friend is not a good mark. Yeah, that's a bit of a stinker there from the boys. Obviously, you see on the screen here, three knocks for Mooky. I mean, top of the lineup, at least two and three.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Mookie and Will Smith, absolutely, we're killing it tonight. A couple of knocks in there as well for Tucker and Teo. But beyond that, yeah, what, they were 0 for 10 with runners in scoring position, just did not look good at any point with, as it says here on the screen. Offense, like I said at the top, sleepy in CINCY. I don't know. I don't know what's going on. They happen every once in a while.
Starting point is 00:16:11 I wouldn't have expected it to happen against Checks Notes, Andrew Abbott. But it happens. It happens from time to time. And, you know, YOLO. It does. I think you and Katie and I talked about this on our. show a couple of days ago. I do think that there is something to be said about the length of the season and how this team is just ready for the postseason. The Dodgers are built for the postseason.
Starting point is 00:16:37 This is how they are structured. This is how they are constructed. They have been through this so many times before. We are lucky to have a team that we pretty much know every single year is going to the postseason. We're very fortunate to have a team and cover a team and love a team that is really, really good perennially. I think they just like we said, the other day, just kind of just get there, right? Just get there. Just like claw your way through. Keep your head above water.
Starting point is 00:17:02 Get to the postseason. Be able to take a breath, reset, set your rotation, hopefully get a couple of days off to rest and recover, and then really turn things on. This team, I have no doubt will be great. I have no doubt that they will go deep into the postseason. It's going to be great. I really believe that.
Starting point is 00:17:19 Obviously, they're built for this time of year. This is just like enough. I said this before. It's like at the end of spring training when you cannot wait, Clint, for the games to start in the regular season, for them to matter. That's the exact same point we're at now for the regular season to end and the postseason to start. They're going to be fine. Yeah. It's going to be great.
Starting point is 00:17:38 It's going to be great. Don Davis 5633 says it. It's going to be great. Appreciate Don with the $2 super chat there. Yeah, you know, I mean, ideally on that note, you want to get to the postseason in one piece. this adds, you know, the Snell thing adds a wrinkle to, okay, you also already have Shohei not being a part of the starting rotation come October. Maybe, you know, not a part of, I don't see this happening, but worst case in error,
Starting point is 00:18:07 maybe not a part of the lineup for like a first series. Very much, very much doubt that. But, you know, we talked about it a little bit this week. I forgot where I talked, probably on All Dodgers last night, but Dave Roberts pointing out. Like, they know they're not playing their best baseball yet.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Dave also said the same thing. But the thing is, they don't need to right now, right? They just need to maintain. They just need to maintain. They need to keep guys as healthy as possible. They just need to, they don't need to play their best baseball right now,
Starting point is 00:18:35 rather, excuse me, they're in. They're in. They're going to win one more game or the Padres are going to lose one more game and the next 10. They're fine.
Starting point is 00:18:42 They're going to win the division. Check that box. They're fine. Like, I understand the overall management of everything. Like, in the microcosm of it and like breaking down each game we can be upset about you know snell coming out and lack of offense today but the overall broad stroke big picture this is a team
Starting point is 00:19:02 that is it's they're they're they're exactly where they want to be they're achieving exactly what they need to at the right time yeah just get to the just get to whatever it is september 29th i think when when the postseason starts or whatever that day is yeah i mean it'll be a little bit later, obviously for them, I think that still might be the start of the DS. Not 100% certain, but yeah, another thing that Dave pointed out today as well is, you know, it is important for this kind of older squad to get those few days off. They are in a good position to still maintain their lead over the Braves. The Braves are down eight to two or eight to three, I think, at the moment to the Cubs.
Starting point is 00:19:41 So you're still going to most likely maintain your three and a half game lead over the Braves. Like it would take a, you know, knock on desk, I don't curse it here, would take a monumental collapse for the Dodgers to end up playing in the wild card series. Yeah, you're absolutely right. And to your point, you are correct. Once again, the wild card would start on the 29th. So the Dodgers would not have to play until four games after that or four days after that. So yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:07 Which one of those wild card teams kind of scares you the most? Right now it's Cubs, Phillies, Padres. Shit, all of them. All of them. Cubs, Phillies, Padres. Yes. Like I... Phillies always worry me for some reason. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:26 I feel like, I mean, the Cubs are obviously hot. PCA is probably going to win the National League MVP just because he's been on... I think he hit his 44th home run tonight. And obviously with Shohei not pitching and not having the same show hey type of season, this is an opportunity for somebody else to win the National League MVP. I believe that's going to be Pete Crowe Armstrong. So he's obviously backed up the top. talk. Yeah, so I mean, it just depends, Clint. It's whoever's the healthiest and whoever is
Starting point is 00:20:55 playing the best brand of baseball at the time. And that's why baseball is so tricky. The regular season is so dang long. It always depends on who's the hottest and who's the healthiest. So I guess of all the teams, the Phillies have always concerned me. Big blow for the Phil's today losing Jesus Lizard, Jesus Lazzardo, will be out for He will be out for an extended, or I know if it's an extended, but he's out for the rest of the regular season by virtue of when they placed him on the IL. Dodgers, so as of right now, they would, if this bracket is still correct, they would play the winner of Braves, Padres. You know, I feel really good about playing the Padres, beating the Padres. I just, I don't know that I'm emotionally ready for all of the BS.
Starting point is 00:21:47 that comes with that kind of series. With the Padres? Yeah, it's just, because then it's not about baseball. It's the one upsmanship. It's about, you know, I wouldn't say necessarily winning headlines, but Padre's fans definitely trying to win.
Starting point is 00:22:02 Oh, we're so much better. Look at us. We're stuffing, you know, Petco Park and we're going to block Dodgers fans from being here. Oh, look at those upper decks are empty because the Dodgers close off, you know, like a big-ass chunk of seats. But the thing is,
Starting point is 00:22:16 the thing is Clint Passier, As you know this, being a Dodger fan your entire life, being a Southern California native, you know that that's all they have to glom onto. That's all they have to like, you know, like hang on to. Like that is their experience in the postseason. That is their experience against the Dodgers. Like the Dodgers are not even worried about that. Sure, everyone can make, can say whatever they want about the Dodgers, you know,
Starting point is 00:22:40 Dodgers Stadium is empty. Nobody shows up into the fourth. They leave until the eighth. That's fine. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. We know what it's like to go to a game there. We know what it's like to live there.
Starting point is 00:22:51 We know what it's like to deal with the traffic there, all of the things. If the potteries want to like hang on to that and that's, you know, that's their, they're going to hang the moon and the stars on that. So be it. That's fine. It doesn't matter. Yeah. It's okay.
Starting point is 00:23:07 Yeah. Beyond that, Braves fans also kind of fall. Not kind of. They fall pretty heavily under that kind of blanket. fans don't bother me the stupid tomahawk chop bothers me like if i have to hear that oh oh that bothers me but the the fans themselves don't bother me i mean whatever every every fan base thinks they're the best and they're all right it's like every everybody thinks their dog is the best and they're all right you know what i mean yeah it's fine all right so show hey down today rehab off day uh is show hey gonna
Starting point is 00:23:40 be a factor in the post season seems like they're he's trending the way they expect him to right now. Then again, we know we can't trust them very much in their reporting or how they kind of deal with Shohay and his injuries and his recovery. But I think either way, we're going to see Shohay in that final series, you know, in San Francisco against Giants is Blake Snell right now speaking to reporters postgame. So we'll keep an eye out for anything from him there. actually we've got right here the quote from Jack Harris as we quickly shift gears said he felt his groin grab
Starting point is 00:24:19 pre-game bullpen decided not to push it after the first inning is going to take things day to day it feels like quote should be good to make another start before the end of the regular season again it's what you're saying it's it's the perfect thing that you said they're just being precautionary and I'm okay with that I just hope that that's all it is I hope it's because there's 10 games left in the season what is the point of pushing the issue
Starting point is 00:24:40 forcing the issue. If he feels a little bit uncomfortable, get them out. You know what I mean? Like, I'd rather that they take the precaution and get them out. But, like, you're more so less okay with the, the, I mean, we've had, we, they've dealt with so many injuries. And we've had to keep talking about injuries. And when it comes to, like, this time of the season, crunch time, two weeks less than
Starting point is 00:25:02 to 10 games. I just, I just feel like we're always talking about, oh, shit, Blake Snell came out of the game. Oh, Tyler Glassnow's hurt. Oh, what's going on now? And it's like, what does this mean for the future? That's what bothers me. It's like Yamamoto seems to be able to figure it out. Love that, man.
Starting point is 00:25:19 You know what I mean? Like Yama seems to be able to be healthy. Hey, let's do this. We've got to take another break. Well, I'm going to do that right now and we'll come back, have a little more conversation with everybody. We've got some chats. Other news of the day. So we'll be right back.

Starting point is 00:27:27 Glasnow underwent, sorry. For Glasnow, it's more of like, hey, get ready. He's starting game one on Friday. So nothing to worry about there. But with Henriquez, obviously placed on the IEL yesterday, I believe it was, or two days ago, with the lower back issue. Got an MRI back.
Starting point is 00:27:43 They're saying it is a lower back strain. Doesn't seem to be too serious. Dave said, you know, hopeful he could pitch in the postseason. Now, Oh, my God, he better.
Starting point is 00:27:53 I'll lose my shit. Dave is always hopeful. But this feels like one. Like, Edgaro Henrique is to lose that, like one of the probably most trusted arms on that on that trust tree, particularly throwing from the right-handed side.
Starting point is 00:28:08 I don't know that they have enough. to kind of survive the entire postseason without Edgardo returning. He's been the most underrated, most valuable reliever of the entire season. And we've tried to give Edgaro Henrique's his flowers. Katie Wu did a phenomenal job
Starting point is 00:28:26 covering him and doing a really nice piece on him in the athletic. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend that you do so. This is a guy that has been underrated, has just gone out there every single time, high leverage situations, non-high leverage situations, has taken the ball, has just shoved. We have joked because of the lack of production and the lack of availability for Edwin-Diaz
Starting point is 00:28:50 that Eduardo Henriquez is the one that deserves the trumpets. He's been great. So if you lose him for any length of time, based on what he has done this season, I think that would be catastrophic for a bullpen that doesn't have a healthy and productive Edwin Diaz, who doesn't have a Tanner Scott that is performing at the highest level, who doesn't have guys that you have a tremendous amount of confidence in right now. He's been the absolute X factor in the bullpen, in my opinion, for the Dodgers this season. So if you lose him, that's a huge concern to me. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:33 Need to have him back. You also, you mentioned Edwin Diaz made another, unplanned, technically, rehab appearance for AAA Oklahoma City today, scoreless inning for him. So, like, drops to him, step forward. I'll take it. I'll take any positive at this point. Fabian Ardaea saying he didn't get any swing and misses on eight swings against him,
Starting point is 00:29:53 which means he's, you know, not quite fooling anybody yet as they work to get that arm slot up a little bit more. But you know how it's going to go with this team. They're going to find a way to shoehorn and Diaz, whether he is good or, you know, or not. And again, maybe, you know, maybe it's just a point. I keep saying it, I ad nauseum, and I apologize for the repetition. I know I sound like a broken record.
Starting point is 00:30:14 You just got to get through the next 10 days. Honestly, like this is a team that is built for the postseason. The regular season is boring. It's boring to them. It is. It's boring to them. So they just got to get to the postseason. And I think everything, honest to goodness, will be put in the right perspective.
Starting point is 00:30:32 They will put everybody in the right gear in the right spot. And it's going to be fine. I don't ever, I don't really worry about this team. Until they give me a reason to worry, which they haven't. I mean, they have a massive lead in the division. They're about to clinch another division title. They're already in the postseason. I'm not concerned at all.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Yeah, where I'm less concerned, obviously you would like this star-studded lineup to be a little bit better at doing their jobs at scoring runs, driving in runs at the run production factor. But they haven't all year, Clint. They haven't all year. thing. They're doing the type of, they're playing the type of baseball. I mean, a lot of it, of course, not a lot of it, but right now they're playing a stretch of games against bad teams. And for the greater part, they're kind of winning those games, you know, just forget about that Miami series. But they're winning games in the way that you need to win games in the
Starting point is 00:31:22 postseason. So I feel good about them for the greater part. It's not going to be, it's not going to be, yeah, you got to do the little things and you've got to play really defensively fundamental baseball. And I, and I do think they'll do that. I really do. It's about just doing enough to win 11 games. I mean, honest to God, if you're already in the postseason, this is the worst time of year. The last two weeks of the regular season, you're like, can we just please get to October? And we've talked about, I haven't said it as much of late, but, you know, early in the season I always talk about, I would love there to still be something this team
Starting point is 00:31:54 is playing for later into September. We saw a few years ago, the 2021 Dodgers, I think it was, you know they secured the division crown on like December or such September 2nd or something ridiculous yeah I know too early then it's like a month where you know we that's where we get into the whole conversation about flipping on a switch and like how do you do that um well rest versus rest yeah yeah as it is right now again they're doing just enough they're they don't need to put the hammer down quite yet uh they just got to stay healthy and hopefully you know get out of Sinty as well like the heat there the humidity. I'm sure that didn't help Blake Snell in that growing situation.
Starting point is 00:32:36 Get that boy some water. Get him a banana. He'll be fine. Isn't that Dame Vasay's job to make sure he's full of potassium and water and all the things with Snellzilla? Just give him a rub down. Yeah. Yeah, this is boy. This is best friend for life. Before we do get out of here, we got a handful
Starting point is 00:32:57 of chats, super chats in particular from our friend Nancy. We always appreciate Nancy. She's the best. Nancy Brown's my favorite human on the planet. Leave Alana the F let her. Yes. Yeah. I love her even more now. Let her continue to live my best life. I love that, Nancy. You're the best. I adore. I adore this woman. And twice with two $5 super chats for the same comments and we appreciate you on that, Nancy. But the bullpen trust tree is a tiny trust bush right now. Yeah, not the greatest of efforts. Honestly, it might be it might be a twig at this point and and somebody also noted somebody noted in the in the chat i didn't star this one but that uh again chris boobich looked good there and and also i appreciate this
Starting point is 00:33:44 because oh donnie boy gets my uh gets my banana reference you know monkey never cramps monkey never cramps and another ten dollars from nancy potassium the potassium is important oh i love her so much there it is this is 100 percent clint don't need the aggravation talking getting into our playoff who we could potentially play a conversation. Don't need the aggravation of playing the Padres and dealing with their pathetic fan base. Currently, they're excited because Johnny not going to hustle. Johnny not going to hustle has died his head. We all know who Johnny not going to hustle is.
Starting point is 00:34:13 You know, just for funsies because we can and tonight's game really sucked ass, is, is Mani just not the most performative player? I don't know how much, like, FaceTime you got with him. I think if you, I mean, enough, I think if you, if he didn't have his antics, right? If he didn't have his antics and like a lot of the distraction type of things about his game, I think you love him on your team. Because if you look at the overall numbers of Mani Machado, it's actually pretty dang impressive. Like, he's a guy that you want, he's a guy that you love on your team.
Starting point is 00:34:52 I mean, he was only with the daughters for seven minutes. But he's a guy that you love on your team, but you also have. hate him if you're the opposition. Because of the antics and because of the distraction, because of the lack of hustle at certain times. But the overall numbers of Manny Machado, in the course of his career so far, in like the grand body of work is impressive.
Starting point is 00:35:17 But I can understand why he rubs a lot of people the wrong way. I can absolutely see that. Same thing with Fernando Tetis. Same thing with, you know, there's like PCA. I get it. Pue. Like, I get it, right? Like, you really got to know the person and know, you know, I completely understand people's opinion about him. Foxy Cinnamon said, man, he wasn't an A-hole. I wouldn't dislike him. I mean, that Foxy Cinnamon 7307 said it a lot more simply, simplistically than I did. But that's exactly what I'm talking about. If he wasn't a perceived asshole, he'd be much more of a likable player. I know I'm in a different sense. So it's like, I don't see him.
Starting point is 00:35:58 way, but I understand how people do. How much you want to bet that some sort of like San Diego area radio was going to take this and just run with it and you're going to be slammed on Twitter tomorrow? Oh, that's fine. I mean, at this point, I don't care. Like, I've already, I'm not making any friends lately on social media and stuff and I could not care less. Like, I've gotten to the point in my life where like I just, all of the Fs that I used to give, they are gone.
Starting point is 00:36:24 I don't care. Like, it's gone. Like, I just don't care. who I am, take it or leave it. I don't care. And we're proud of you for it. I am at least. But yeah, the button up the man he talked. And dude, as of entering play today, three homers away from 400 in his career. His numbers are impressive. Over 1,200 ribbies. He is very, he's on a trajectory to the Hall of Fame, whether you like it or not. And the thing is, you know, a war above 60 by baseball reference. And the thing is, what could keep him out? Like, it's a fringy,
Starting point is 00:36:57 Hall of Famer maybe, you know, within the first 10 years or something like that, he could make a hall of fame. What's going to keep him out? It's postseason shit. It's postseason stuff. And honestly, like, I know there's not a character clause to get people into the Hall of Fame. But if there's, if you're voting, if you're voting and it's based on how you perceive him, how he's treated you, dependent upon the vote, whether it's supposed to matter or not, that type of stuff does matter. Yeah, it really does. That's where we appreciate the Dodgers, even when they're not playing well like they did today. Just a bunch of really good character dudes on that roster with Freddie, with Mookie, smiles. Well, and I think that's why they've been so successful is because there's a group of guys that play for each other. And again, like, I know Mani in a different way because I've known his family and the whole thing. but I can completely understand why people don't like him.
Starting point is 00:37:57 He's not a likable character, but his numbers are very impressive. So I don't know, might be fringe, and that could be what keeps him out is the, yeah, he's just an unlikely. I don't disagree with this. Yeah. And this. I don't agree with. I don't disagree with him. He's not wrong.
Starting point is 00:38:15 There's been different points, too, where he could have, he could have altered the course of, you know, that narrative. And he, you know, instead just kind of reverted back. But you remember back in the day, you know, you're, I think, I mean, I know you're 10 years younger than me, but back in the day when Charles Barkley was like, I'm, I don't want to, I never asked to be a role model. You know what I mean? Not everybody wants that role.
Starting point is 00:38:39 And just because you're a superstar player, people assume that you're going to carry yourself a certain way. Not everybody, like, wants that. Like, that's not, that's not what they're paid to do. And again, like, right wrong or indifferent, like, I don't necessarily. falsely fault him. Like, do I want him to act differently? Sure. But, like, that's also not what he's paid to do. He's not paid to be, you know, the good guy award. Yeah. You know what I mean? He's paid to hit bombs. He's paid to have a really good defensive third base. And I don't know,
Starting point is 00:39:08 I don't know how this got into Padres talk. But anyway, prior territory, which we have on the Fowell territory. Yeah, go hang out with Darren Smith and Marty Caswell. I just updated their profile on E-CAM. So should look a little bit better over on that show. But guys, I think, That says it's about time for us to be wrapping it up here. Dodgers lose. We're back Friday. Friday. Me,
Starting point is 00:39:30 So by that time, hopefully we will have clinched. Are we going to have a little, well, for Wu and I, I'm assuming she is working, but it would be a noon o'clock Pacific time, you know,
Starting point is 00:39:42 celebration simple. I will be here with a glass of bubbles for all of us. And all of everybody on our chat, we will be toasting the Dodgers. 50 billionth division win in the last 50 billionth year. You were there for a lot of them, too. I was. Look at you now.
Starting point is 00:40:00 You're stuck with me. We'll see you guys. I love this team. I don't ever want to say that I don't want anyone to be like, oh, she's so negative. Anyway, all right, guys, we'll see you on Friday. Go, Dodgers. Bye. Hey, I'm Mike Yam.
