Yeah, you had a lot. to sell there. Guys, we went through another series of Dodger baseball.
Starting point is 00:03:15 I think my audio looks really loud, so we'll adjust that here on the fly. Dodgers win the series. That's what you try to do. Some people upset, of course, that they lose that final game of the series with the Rangers. But it was a B lineup, and it was Roki Sasaki Day. And yeah, yeah, yada, yada. We're getting to Roki Sasaki Talk. Four innings.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Two earn runs, 94 pitches. is not good, not terrible again. I don't know. We've been talking about a couple steps forward, a couple steps back. This just seemed like a treading water sort of start frame. What's your kind of take on Roki, Katie? I think, and we have talked about this,
Starting point is 00:03:57 there is no player on the Los Angeles Dodgers roster that is going to be under more scrutiny from fans, from the organization, across the board than Roki Sasaki. So take that with a grain of salt because we are just conditioned to overanalyze his appearance. He's had just three. They've been just okay. 90 pitches over four innings is certainly not efficient.
Starting point is 00:04:19 And if he continues to do that, it won't be sustainable. But the Dodgers don't really have to worry about that at the moment because they have that favorable schedule. We've talked about Justin Rubellisky, tonight starter, also staying in through that six-man rotation for the foreseeable future. With Roki in particular, it's just about progress. And it kind of feels like he's kind of teetering. being just okay. And I don't want to get too carried away because at the end of the day, this dude's made what, 11, 12 starts in his entire career. I understand there's such a high standard with the Dodgers to perform and perform well. And Sasaki really hasn't met those expectations,
Starting point is 00:04:53 but it is so, so early in his career. Let's use April. The Dodgers again don't have a big pressing need to get him right. They've been able to knock on wood, cover plenty of innings. They have Robleski. They have the off day. Seeing incremental improvement through April, or at least until Blake Snell gets back, that's gonna be key for Rokey as the Dodgers then figure out what's gonna be next for him. But I still don't wanna hear any talk about
Starting point is 00:05:16 time to send him down. He's a bullpen arm. He's made less than 15 stars in his entire career. Give him a chance to figure it out the major league level. He's too good to go to the minors anyway. I'm thinking I agree with you there, Katie. I'm also wondering though if perhaps Roki Sasaki was tipping pitches.
Starting point is 00:05:30 And I'm not the only one asking that. Your friend and ours, Fabian Ardaya had a tweet too that said he just went through and looked at the high home for every pitch Roki Sasaki through. With the runner on second base, look at Brandon Nimmo. Does Nimmo have to tinkle or does Nimmo see something
Starting point is 00:05:46 that's going on every single time, you know, Roki Sasaki is throwing the ball. Eight splitters in those spots and one slider didn't hop on any fastball. So if it's a, you know, if it's a high heater right down the middle, he's not hopping. But if Nimmo sees some off speed stuff, some breaking ball stuff, he's hopping.
Starting point is 00:06:02 What do you make of that, if anything? I think that's an old school sign relaying here. So I'm all for that. Pitchers are tipping and it's obvious for the opposing team to see it. Why not take advantage of it? The Raiders actually ended up not taking advantage of it. I believe they punched out on all three of those abats that we were able to see with Nimmo hopping.
Starting point is 00:06:19 But yeah, that seemed to me like a pretty solid tell that Roki is tipping. It's just these little things that we're all. When we look at Roki, it's all these little things that add up into one big thing, which is just, is he good enough? Does he have the fastball command? How does the fork ball look? Has he worked in that third pitching up with the arsenal, that cutter, a slider, slutter, whatever you want to call it?
Starting point is 00:06:37 Does is he tipping pictures? How do you find the strike zone? Is he good enough to be a starter? These are all questions that the Dodgers do have the luxury to be able to find out in real time. They're not going to find that out if he goes down at AAA. They're not going to find that out if he's in the bullpen. They have to find it out right now and the schedule allows them to. I get that it's a little different practice with all of the other starting pitchers that they've had
Starting point is 00:06:58 because all the other starting pitchers that they've had have been, you know, all-stars, Syong winners. They have these grand expectations of being able to go out and dominate. Roki Sasaki Sasaki. going to have to learn on the fly, and that's kind of the gamble of taking him and signing him, but I understand why the Dodgers are doing it and why they're being patient. Right now, even though they haven't been efficient outings, they've been able to gut through it. So expect that to continue at least again through April. Yeah, the good thing is when you are the Los Angeles
Starting point is 00:07:24 Dodgers, you can survive Roki Sasaki outings once a week. And I agree. He's too good to send down the talent is there. Hopefully they figure it out. I do think we're going to see a little bit of glove change, though, between this start and his next start, if people are able to kind of get in there and see that forkball. But guys, we have seen the Dodgers play 15 games so far this season. I figure it's a good time to have a little bit of an assessment. How do we feel the team is doing? Well, when you have an 11-4 record, like obviously they're doing good, that best record in baseball, but, or at least they have the most wins in baseball, but when you're looking at kind of recency bias, yeah, they're still winning baseball games, but not the cleanest games we're seeing.
Starting point is 00:08:05 We saw that moment with Alex Call and Shohei Otani kind of called getting sort of caught off a guard there, maybe some ABS usage being a little weird with, you know, Headsong Kim and I think it was Dalton rushing yesterday. So they blew their load early when it came to challenges. But yeah, just not as clean of baseball. Edwin Diaz had, you know, over the weekend a little bit of a roller coaster himself, but ends up blowing a save. The Dodgers get to win. And yeah, I just would like to see them clean up the act a little bit.
Starting point is 00:08:39 And I'm sure Dave would as well because we know. You can see, you know, when Dave's frustrated, he's a little more fidgety in his seat in the dugout. But that's one of the things I've noticed of late. Alana, what are you seeing with the team 15 games in? Well, I think the biggest thing is keeping things in perspective. And when you are the Los Angeles Dodgers and you do have the record that they do sitting at 11 and 4, which is the best record in baseball. and it is the highest winning percentage in baseball.
Starting point is 00:09:05 There's seven and three in their last 10. They have lost that one game. Okay, so you're starting a new streak today, hopefully as they welcome in the New York Mets. But you can poke holes when you're this good, right? I mean, and what I mean by that is there's just a few holes to poke and to fill because you want to make sure that these types of situations, when you're not playing baseball cleanly,
Starting point is 00:09:25 do not bite you at the wrong time. And I'm talking about game five of the 2024 World Series, like the New York Yankees. That bit them in a really, really bad time. And again, I think that's why Dave gets frustrated. I think any manager would get frustrated because you can deal with physical lapses, but you can't deal with mental lapses. And I think right now they need to just shore up some of the sloppy stuff.
Starting point is 00:09:49 Again, it's 15 games out of 162. You're not going to be perfect every single game. But you're able to, as a daughter's organization, you're able to clean that stuff up quickly because you have nothing else to worry about, right? I mean, this is just such a good team all the way around. That's like, hey, let's make sure that we're playing all sides of the ball to the best of our capabilities and as the reigning back-to-back World Series champion. So am I worried about it?
Starting point is 00:10:14 No. It just stands out because what else are we going to pick out right now? I mean, we're going to get into a little bit, obviously, of Edwin Diaz and where we go from here with him. We're talking about Roki Sasaki. And as Katie mentioned, he's the most scrutinized player on the roster on all sides of it. But, I mean, where else do we go from here? You know what I mean? It's like, okay, but we're 11 and 4.
Starting point is 00:10:34 There's no need to panic. Just clean up the messes. Clean up the stuff that you don't like to see, but better now than in October. Yeah, and again, that's us nitpicking right now at this point in the season, which is, you know, what we get paid to do, point out some of the issues. There's also good things going on. I mean, Katie and I did a show just before the season started talking about things we're watching over the first, you know, month of the season. One of those things for me was the bullpen. A couple of guys, Blake Trinnan, who has not been scored on so far this season.
Starting point is 00:11:04 And Tanner Scott, who's having himself a really nice second season, knock on wood, having himself a nice second season in Dodger Blue. Katie, what are you seeing with Tanner Scott? Is this a situation where maybe some of that burden of being, you know, the closer last year is off of his shoulders? Or is it that he's just not throwing the baseball kind of middle, middle as much as he did last year? Clint, I could feel your trepidation as you were talking about Trinan and Tanner Scott. Like, please don't be a jinx.
Starting point is 00:11:35 So you guys know where to go if things go sideways against the Mets. But I think like to your point, it's a combination of both. And obviously Tanner Scott said it a thousand times, can't be middle middle. And we've only seen that really one time. The last, I want to say, might have been Toronto. Don't quote me on that where he left a pitch middle middle and it left the yard. But other than that, it's been remarkably better in terms of exescent. executing pitch location.
Starting point is 00:12:01 And another thing that I think is working out for both Blake Trinan and Tanner Scott is the way that Dave Roberts is using them now. Because you have a certified traditional closer in the ninth and Edwin Diaz, Dave Roberts can essentially work backward from the ninth and lineup matchups the way that he wants to. So you can see Tanner Scott getting the lefty leverage lane.
Starting point is 00:12:22 You also see Tanner Scott getting some confidence, buildup innings maybe earlier in games, fifth, six inning, just go out there, pinpoint the level of. execute, get out. Same with Blake Trinen. The Dodgers have been able to Dave Roberts credit to kind of pinpoint the lanes that make the most success in terms of opponents and matchup and run from there. So when you're Scott executing the pitch location much better and you're putting him in lanes where he's going to have more success or
Starting point is 00:12:46 at least should based on the numbers, you see a sub to ERA and you see two set up men stepping up. We talked about this at the start of the season. If the bullpen's going to be good, the veterans got the veterans have to step up, be the set up men to get to Diaz. so far so good and let's also not forget to give love. He's looked pretty nails as well. What I love about this is that when Tanner Scott was not pitching appropriately and when he was pitching poorly, we were all over him. This is another guy that was on Artemis. He was on his way to the moon. You guys, I realized they went around the moon. I realized they did not go to the moon. I don't want to hear it. But the point is let's give him his flowers because we were all over
Starting point is 00:13:24 Tanner Scott when he was pitching poorly. And we said not only when he, you guys hosted the show, but we all have said collectively that in order for this bullpen to take a step forward, even with the addition of Edwin Diaz, you wanted to see a bounce back year from Blake Trinan and you wanted to see a bounce back year from Tanner Scott. And so far in this very small sample size, but again, we're just talking about the first 15 games. That's where we're at right now, right? Those are the games that we can speak specifically to. He looks really good. I mean, he has a 1-3-5 ERA and eight games, six and two thirds innings of work so far. I mean, a whip of point six, so he struck out eight guys. Whatever it is that he's working on, of course, throwing it not,
Starting point is 00:14:04 you know, not throwing it down the middle, middle. That helps. We've talked about that. But it's working. So all you can ask is for a guy to continuously improve like we're doing with Roki Sasaki. Please just try to get better in some facet every time out. And I think Tanner Scott is doing that. He is absolutely doing, fixing. the things that made him on the rocket ship last year. And I can appreciate that. So let's give him his flowers because we were certainly all over him when he wasn't performing well. Another guy that we need to talk about, I guess, just in the first 15 minutes. And Katie, you know what it's like going from one team to the next as you are new to the beat. I don't know. We use this cliche all the time,
Starting point is 00:14:47 pressing, guys pressing too much. Is Kyle Tucker pressing too much? What have you noticed from his at bat so far and just kind of his performance through the first 15. I think that's fair to say just based on the optics of the approach. Kyle Tucker is not a guy that strikes out a ton and we've seen a higher chase rate, a higher strikeout rate from Kyle. Did I say Tanner Scott or did I say Cal Tucker? Kyle Tucker. He said Kyle Tucker.
Starting point is 00:15:12 Kyle Tucker is not, I mean, he's one of the best hitters in the league. And when you see the high strikeout numbers and you see the higher chase rate, that to me is a sign that, you know, this is a guy that's just pressing a little bit, trying to do, you know, maybe make a good impression. He's sitting number two for the Los Angeles Dodgers. And of course, with Mookie Betts out, there's a pressure on the rest of the top of the order to produce. Am I worried about it?
Starting point is 00:15:33 No, we see this a lot with top free agents who come to a new organization. They want to do well. Tanner Scott is an example. Sometimes they get in their own heads because there is a lot of pressure when you sign such a mega deal and you come to the Dodgers who have such high aspirations of winning the World Series for the third year in a row. I think Kyle Tucker just needs some time. I'm not going to freak out over 15 games here.
Starting point is 00:15:55 But still, you know, maybe he just needs to adjust a little bit more. I could say it's pressing. I don't think the strikeout rate is going to continue. I don't think the chase rate's going to continue. I think the more he gets adjusted to this new place. Again, this is the second year in a row where he's had to do this, the more we'll start to see Kyle Tucker stats the way that we expect to. Yeah, I mean, we're looking at a guy who absolutely is pressing with all of the cyber ink
Starting point is 00:16:19 that was spilled about him in the offseason and then, you know, trying to do well in front of the new home crowd there at Dodger Stadium. It's a situation where he's pressing. He'll get a little bit of batted ball luck. Things will turn around and this will be a very tiny footnote in an otherwise very long season. He's going to be good. He's going to be good.
Starting point is 00:16:42 He's going to be fine at some point in time. 100%. I don't, I never worry about Kyle Tucker. I mean, you just, you have to look at the, the back. of the baseball card, right? The whole sample size. You can't look at a 15 game stretch and be like, oh my God, what are we doing? People already comparing him to Michael Conforto. Stop it. Katie, I know. Lickfrey-Forto's in 300 right now for what it's worth. Okay, it's not. It's not worth anything because he's not on our team. But let me ask you this, Katie. And we're going to get
Starting point is 00:17:08 more into Edwin Diaz in behind the seams after the break. But there is some talk, obviously, that Dodgers are kind of just paying attention to the dip in velocity, if you will, closer Edwin Diaz. Dave Roberts saying that they're just going to watch it kind of day to day, that they don't believe it's a mechanical issue, but they're just trying to figure out what's going on. No physical issue, so he's not hurt guys, but there is a dip in velocity.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Are we making too much of that? You know, I think any time that there's a little bit of a downside in below in April, I'm more hesitant to be like it's early in the season. Guys are still getting ramped up. It's a little different though for Diaz, given that he's a closer. Now he has said that his historically over the last three seasons since his WBC injury in 2023. He's been slow to ramp up. The metrics do back that up.
Starting point is 00:17:55 But it is a big enough concern where the Dodgers did not use him on the second day of a potential back to back on Saturday. And Dave Roberts kind of playing like a little coy when asked in Sunday's game, the Dodgers lost five to two. So obviously no safe situation there. But was asked if Edwin Diaz was going to be available on Sunday. And he said, as Bill Plunkett says, I'm going to keep that one to myself. So the Dodgers have maintained that there is no injury. the, Edmund Diaz has said there's no injury, just a bad outing on Friday.
Starting point is 00:18:22 The Velo is down almost two ticks. I think it's sitting 958 over his first six appearances compared to his 20, 25 average of 972. That's a notable decline for me as a closer where it gives me some pause, but I will give the Dodgers the benefit of the doubt and Dia's the benefit of the doubt. There's no reason to push him on April 13th. So we'll see. This is a situation that I'm going to tab as monitoring with caution, but optimist. mystic and certainly with the Mets coming to town and we'll get into that tonight. Dodgers want Diaz.
Starting point is 00:18:54 I'm sure Diaz wants to be out there pitching too. Yeah, this is a big series for both sides for sure. Yeah, I've mentioned with closures these days, you don't get that lockdown. Like there's always going to be a little bit of a tightrope. Having one bad outing does not make him a bad pitcher. We're not worried. We're not worried about Edwin Diaz. And now we say this and probably in like three or four hours,
Starting point is 00:19:17 we're going to get something that says Edwin Diaz's. Edwin Diaz to the injured list with the shoulder thing. Katie will riot. She will riot. Nope, we're going to benefit of the doubt. We'll just, we'll see.
Starting point is 00:19:28 I think it's good that you've got two days of rest. We'll see how it goes when we get to the park and go hours. Hopefully, hopefully we're not reporting later on Katie Wu arrested at Dodger Stadium. After trashing the, the clubhouse or the front office, guys, we got more Dodgers territory coming up.
Starting point is 00:19:43 We got more Edwin Diaz talk, the fact that he is a Dodger. The story is pretty crazy. We got some good reporting from Katie Wu. First, we got to pay the bills a little bit. Here's some words from our friends at Fowl Territory. Guys, you ever get it from your children all the time? Dad, same old meal.

You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. And rule two, never mess with her friends either. We always say that trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield. And in this new season of the girlfriends,
Starting point is 00:21:20 Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me? The cops didn't seem to care. So they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed.
Starting point is 00:21:38 I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. One of the best things and I think I was Zach, I can't remember, oh, was, um, who was on our show the other day that was that said Katie Wu was the great edition. Oh, oh, that was Coglazer.
Starting point is 00:22:15 He is absolutely, he is absolutely right about that. And this is why I think, um, not only is she a tremendous journalist, but just the, the inside stuff that we can bring you because she's here. She did a fantastic article in the athletic about how Edwin Diaz really became a dog and how Kike Hernandez was a big part of this in terms of getting him here. So Katie, you and Will Salmon put together this piece. Tell us more about how they pounced on the Mets closer to bring him to L.A. Yeah, and we've heard bits and pieces about this story.
Starting point is 00:22:48 Obviously, when Edwin Diaz signed with the Dodgers, I'll speak on behalf of the entire industry to say we were surprised would be an understatement. And when we were piecing together the story, Will Sampen, of course, covers the Mets for the athletic. We really wanted to focus in on what changed for the Dodgers because they had maintained all offseason, you know, that they didn't think that they were on going to be able to land Diaz. They were looking for relievers on one to two year deals. Edmund Diaz was projected to have four or five or at least covet that. But things changed. Things changed really when the Mets signed Devin Williams and the Dodgers realized, hey, we might actually have a chance to get in for your deal.
Starting point is 00:23:27 And the reason that that kind of came to fruition, Kay Hernandez, who is very close with Edmund Diaz. They obviously both to Puerto Rico. Hernandez's father actually was told him to be before Diaz was drafted. They share the same agent. They have for years. Decided, hey, you know what? I'm a free agent right now, but you know what I could also be as a recruiter.
Starting point is 00:23:47 So he sent a three-minute voice text to Andrew Friedman saying, this is the time. If you want Edmund Diaz, I promise you, he wants to be here. This is not a leverage place. if you want to keep winning, this is your guy. And Andrew Friedman responded and said, you know, this is great to hear because we've been a little skeptical. So they kind of went to work. And Hernandez and his wife reached out to Diaz and Diaz's wife.
Starting point is 00:24:11 And they got on a call to talk about the family aspects. It's a big move. The Diaz has have three boys. The Hernandez is also, you know, they have two children now. And Kike's been there for nine years, the better part of nine years. So he would know what it is like to have the family element. That's super important for free agents. And then Andrew Freeman just kind of got to work on the market.
Starting point is 00:24:31 And we talk about this term all the time hanging around the backboard. Well, he saw an opportunity to put up a dunk, and he did. And I think, like, the most interesting part about the story is after Kike's voice memo, the 72 hours-ish that happened after that was all at the winter meetings. And as the Dodgers were talking to Edwin Diaz, their Mets were still negotiating, Friedman has said, he's like, I was still pretty skeptical. I was getting a little more confident, but I wasn't confident all the way.
Starting point is 00:25:00 Then they hop on a Zoom call with Dave Roberts, Diaz, Brandon Gomes is on the call. This is Monday at the winter meetings in Orlando. Dave Roberts, of course, is with a celebrity. He calls in from Eric Stone Street's house for Modern Family Fans, that's Cam in Kansas City. And by the time Dave Roberts got on his flight from Kansas City to Orlando Monday night,
Starting point is 00:25:20 the Dodgers Brass realized that they could really do this deal. You know, the drill Tuesday morning, Edwin Diaz three years, $69 million. So a fantastic look all the way around. Shout out Kike, maybe has a job of an Asian in the future. Who knows? But that voice memo was imperative to jump starting all of these conversations.
Starting point is 00:25:40 I mean, it's such a fascinating story. And guys, please check out Katie and Will's article in The Athletic, support her there as well. She does tremendous work. We don't need to keep telling you that. But this just tells me how much it is, how important it is relationships in terms of how much you trust your front office, how much you want other players to come and be where you are.
Starting point is 00:26:00 If the Dodgers weren't a destination, Kike is not trying to get one of his friends over there, right? You're not going to set somebody up that you appreciate and respect to fail. And this also reminds me of when JT convinced Kenley at Kenley's wedding, which shout out 10-year anniversary to Kenley and Gianna Jansson, by the way, when JT convinced Kenley to come back to the Dodgers. When Kenley, J.T. and Rich Hill all got those deals in the same off season. I mean, they're talking about it at the wedding. Like, you want your friends and your teammates that you respect and love to be in a good situation. That's exactly what Kike was doing. It also reminds me of the story that Andrew Friedman told us on Dodgers territory a couple of times
Starting point is 00:26:42 ago that he never would have envisioned the guy that was in a freaking banana uniform on the plane and in the dugout would end up being such a leader and such a glue to keep this team together and doing so many different things off of the field that he does on the field, specifically in the postseason. So great reporting, super cool to hear of that story. And, man, I'm psyched that Enwin Diaz and the trumpets are in LA. I can't wait for the series to see him pitch against the Mets. You know, the final thing, I'll throw in for the Kiki factor. I love that he was doing that.
Starting point is 00:27:16 He was not employed by the Dodgers at that time, despite the fact, you know, maybe he has the new Clayton Kershaw badge that he has to get around Dodgers. but he did not have a contract with the team he was just like no if you guys want to keep on winning yeah we knew kike was going to be back in dodger blue at some point but if you guys want to keep on winning go get this dude now is the time that's fun that's a fun story great great great shit from katie put that on the shirt maybe once a month we'll be able to say that uh so so professional so professional yeah that's what we're here for grand for all of us here but that i think that was also So obviously, I don't think there was any doubt that Kiki would come back to the Dodgers,
Starting point is 00:27:59 but for Andrew Friedman to reward him two months later, sign him back for another year contract. Just all around, I think that was really, really fun. My favorite part of the story, though, was finding out that Dodgers assistant general manager, Alex Slater got really hyped in the suite Monday night as the deal was coming together. He puts narco on YouTube, puts it on the TV, trumpets blaring. The room is getting hyped. Boys are going to be boys, no matter who they are, how old they are. and noise complaint from security immediately.
Starting point is 00:28:29 Just imagine. This is Wardolph and Orlando, okay, not some courtyard Marriott. Imagine opening that door and seeing that room of, I love them all, but absolute nerds. That's what they said, hey, this is actually really lame. We're watching a walkout video right now. And security, I was probably like, you know what, this is the winter meeting that's actually far worse. You know what? I'll take our nerds up against any else's group of nerds, any other team's group of nerds. Okay. All right. Thank you, Andrew Friedman. Thank you, Kiki Hernandez. Let's get to last looks.
Starting point is 00:29:11 There's two golden rules that any man should live by. Rule one, never mess with a country girl. You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. And rule two, never mess with her friends either. We always say that trust your girlfriends. I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of the girlfriends, Oh my God, this is the same man. A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. I felt like I got hit by a truck. I thought, how could this happen to me?
Starting point is 00:29:43 The cops didn't seem to care, so they take matters into their own hands. I said, oh, hell no. I vowed I will be his last target. He's going to get what he deserves. Listen to the girlfriends. Trust me, babe. On the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Starting point is 00:30:09 Ready for a different take on Formula One? Look no further than no grip. A new podcast tackling the culture of motor racing's most coveted series. Join me, Lily Herman, as we dive into the under-explored pockets of F1, including the astrology of the current grid. Lewis Hamilton, Crapicorn Sun, Cancer Moon. Wouldn't you know it?
Starting point is 00:30:27 Michael Schumacher is also a caper. Horned Sun, Cancer Moon. The story of the sport's most consequential driver's strike. We have one man who, upon hearing that he was going to be fired, freaked out, and apparently climbed out the window of the bathroom. And was Daniel Ricardo's illustrious F1 career, a success story, a cautionary tale, or some combination of both? He started getting all this attention, and he maybe started to think, I'm bigger than this,
Starting point is 00:30:53 I'm better, and plenty of other mishaps, scandals, and sagas that have made Formula One a delightful, decadent dumpster fire for more than 75 years. Listen to no grip on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much that my podcast called Playing Along is back. I sit down with musicians from all musical styles to play songs together in an intimate setting. Every episode's a little different, but it all involves music and conversation with some of my favorite musicians. Over the past two seasons, I've had special guests like Dave, Grohl, Leveh, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolf, Jeff Tweedy, really too many to name.
Starting point is 00:31:34 And this season, I've sat down with Alessia Cara, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, and more. Check out my new episode with Josh Grobin. You related to the Phantom at that point. Yeah, I was definitely the Phantom in that. That's so funny. Share each day with me each night, each morning. love me. You know how you...
Starting point is 00:32:02 So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to Playing Along on the Iheart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, guys, the good news is we only have about three dogs in our care right now, which is good because that means we can save and rescue some more as long as Foster's step up and do their thing. But Chip has been with us probably the longest of the three dogs that we still have under us. He was found abandoned near Los, the Griffith Observatory in Los Felis.
Starting point is 00:32:37 He's a good boy. He's about two years old, mixed breed, great with other dogs, super smart, super active, happy, healthy, all the things. He's being fostered right now, but he needs a forever home, right? So if you're interested in adopting Chip, please at least share him. You can go to my social media and share him. He's in California, as I mentioned, available for adoption in Southern California. So let's help out Chip, huh? Let's get him home for his forever home, if you will.
Starting point is 00:33:06 All right, guys, Katie, you are headed to the park here momentarily. Upcoming series with the Mets, you'd rather them be playing better than they are because kind of an early season measuring stick, if you will, to use another cliche. But what are you looking for in this series? Yeah, Mets not off to the hottest start. They've lost five straight. They were just swept in New York by the A's. and it still pains me to not have to say
Starting point is 00:33:33 open in front of that. I will never call them Sacramento. But yeah, a surprising face you might see in left field today. Tommy Pham signed a minor league deal with the New York Mets on opening day. He went all off season without any offers and switched agencies. And he's now with Republic.
Starting point is 00:33:50 So shout out Republic got the job done. And all of a sudden, he is now been called up. He's played exactly five games in single A. But the Mets, they need a spark. And obviously they're familiar with Tommy fam. He last played there a couple of seasons ago. And if you need someone to come spark up the clubhouse, I can speak from experience. Tommy fan's going to do it.
Starting point is 00:34:09 So maybe this will be the jump that the Mets need. I'm sure the Dodgers will be happy if it's not. But this should be for all of the drama, the Dia stuff, two National League powerhouses, going in two set productions right now. Looking forward to see what's going down at Dodgers Stadium later today. Yeah, this is going to be a team that absolutely wants some wins against the Dodgers. need to win tonight. You got to win game one.
Starting point is 00:34:31 Best way to keep winning these series. I don't care about the sweeps. I don't care about rattling off 20 wins in a row or anything like that. It makes it a lot more fun, but keep winning series. And you start winning with winning game one. It should be the easy game to win. David Peterson hasn't been great this year, as have several Mets. And Rebliske making the second start.
Starting point is 00:34:49 So Riz, how many wins? We got two. We got three. What are you thinking? Is it a three game series? Yeah. I'm going to say two. I'll say two.
Starting point is 00:34:58 It's only a two game series? No, no. I'm saying two. Oh, you're saying two out of three. Yeah, no. I say two out of three. Two out of three. This is a funny thing really.
Starting point is 00:35:08 I get so distracted. I'm ADHD, the older. I get Mr. Seabad. My cat Lasorda escaped for two days, but made it back home. LaSorda really smells bad. The Mets smell worse. They stink. I'm trying to find this one.
Starting point is 00:35:21 That is pretty good. We do have more people in the chat. We'll hang out a little bit with the chat. Then we will sign off. By the way, Richie, was our first member to sign up. We can do flesh clap is what I like to call that when I don't have my soundboard ready. Thanks, Richie.
Starting point is 00:35:37 We'll try to get you some fluffy stuff. Good job, buddy. The fluffiest of stuff. We also got 499 from, I believe, why do you keep changing size? Smurphy 24 doee. And again, Francisco, I believe, or Fernando. I keep getting, I got myself so jumbled on who it is. But anyways, $5, deep chat.
Starting point is 00:35:57 I say ride him until Snell is ready talking about Roki Sasaki and then make the decision. But what Stephen Nelson says, the ZRA is above six past third inning. It's definitely a bit worrisome there. That's the thing. We talked about that, right? If you can get through the order, how many times can you get through the order? That's how I'm going to also continue to judge as well, like just how much he's improving. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:19 J.Y. Kim, also in the chat, $5 super chat to people complain about Roki. Just remember the team could have had the paid that EMI money. or however you say am i yeah yeah my money am i and uh you know i think he i don't think am i got out of the first inning i don't think you got out of the first inning and they they sent him back for imaging so that's that's not that's that's down bad oh my god they've lost seven straight i think on the road nobody on this chat feels bad for houston but mercy that's a brutal road trip no and the final one two bucks from brandon in the chat and this chat is has a mind of its own but it's Freeland always in the wrong spot on defense.
Starting point is 00:36:59 I don't know about that. I think they're just hitting it in good spots, but hey, something to watch, something to keeping our eyes on there. I'm pretty sure he has the cards. I don't think Alex Freeland is playing Yassi El Pueg ball where he doesn't care by defensive alignment. Just throw that. I don't actually not Freeland's against.
Starting point is 00:37:15 I've enjoyed seeing more of him on a consistent basis. I don't know how long that's going to last. Kike Hernandez, maybe back middle of May. Tommy Aden maybe a little bit later. But take it in while you have it, because once Moogie Betts comes back or any of those guys, I don't think we'll see Alex Freeland in the everyday lineup. Nope.
Starting point is 00:37:32 You will guys be seeing us tomorrow because you have postgame, myself and Alana. Katie won't be there, but she'll be back with us Thursday, question mark. That's right. That's a point. We will be there. So shout out again to Richard Flores for being the first person to become a member. You guys can become a member too. It's right here click the join button to become a YouTube member.
Starting point is 00:37:52 You get some perks, most of which, the perk is supporting us and supporting independent Dodgers coverage here on the internet, buy some stuff. There's new stuff in the store and subscribe to Dodgers territory here on YouTube. It makes Katie happy. Yes.
Starting point is 00:38:10 That's what I'm excited. All right, we'll see you guys. Tomorrow night after the Dodgers win. Take it easy. Bye. Thanks, guys. See you. When a group of women discover
Starting point is 00:38:28 they've all dated the same prolific con artist. They take matters into their own hands. I vowed. I will be his last target. He is not going to get away with this. He's going to get what he deserves. We always say that trust your girlfriends.
