Dave, did you forget about the last two post seasons?
Starting point is 00:00:42 What's going on, everybody? Welcome to Dodgers Territory. Thank you so much for being here. We are your host. That is Clint Paseas. I am Alana Rizzo. Wanted to thank everybody watching us on our Monday show. Big numbers.
Starting point is 00:00:53 We appreciate you guys so much. You have no idea. If you like us, if you subscribe, if you rate us five stars, it only helps us grow the program. It grows our platform on the Fowl Territory. family. We appreciate you very much. So tell your friends and keep it going. Get involved in the chat. We want to hear from you. Obviously, we're Dodger fans, but we want to hear from other Dodgers fans as well. Clint and I have a ton to talk about. So let's get right to it. The big ticket. All right, Clint, the division can be won tonight. The Dodgers still control their own destiny. I wanted to throw
Starting point is 00:01:24 myself off of the building in Atlanta on Monday night when I was watching the game or Tuesday or whenever the heck it was when the Dodgers lost to the Padres on that triple play that clinched a playoff birth for San Diego. But again, they rebounded. They won last night. Thank you, Shohay Otani. We appreciate you big time. What is your takeaway from the first two games? I got to stop here for a second and point out in the chat, we have Miguel Rojas burner. The official Miguel Rojas burner. It's a sorry guys once again for giving up the triple play. Yeah, Tuesday game, Tuesday game, not good, not fun, not what you want to see. But let's let's air or let's focus positive. let's spin positive.
Starting point is 00:02:06 The bullpen has been very good, and Shohei Otani absolutely is a monster right now. Let's focus on that bullpen, starting pitching. Alana, you've been preaching it since the very, like the jump of doing this show. Starting pitching a bit of a worry for this organization. I didn't want to buy in. I didn't, not to say, I didn't want to believe you, but maybe I was playing dumb.
Starting point is 00:02:29 Maybe I was lying to myself, but starting pitching even in the series, not very good. some people will defend Jack Flaherty. He had a good start. Padres are a very good team, but this team does not have an ace, does not have a bona fide ace. He might not have 100% of a Yamamoto.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Flaherty not in the, he's not pitching his best right now, landed knack. We're going to see Walker Bueller tonight. So you need to have electric relief. And that's what this organization has got. This team has right now. Michael Kopeck shut in the door,
Starting point is 00:03:02 slamming the door last night, putting the Dodgers to, to within winning tonight and you win the division, which is very important. But yeah, let's talk about that positive. What do you think about the bullpen right now? Does that make you feel a little bit better about the starting pitching situation? Not if the bullpen has to come in in the fourth inning. No, it doesn't give me great pause in terms of that.
Starting point is 00:03:23 But I will tell you, I loved the Kopeck signing when we got Michael Kopeck. I loved it. And there's reasons why I loved it. And he showed exactly why it was a good move last night. Not only did he shut the door, but the emotion, that's what you want from your closer. And give it up to Blake Trinan too. Trinan had a good outing as well. I mean, the emotion, I love that he was wearing number 45.
Starting point is 00:03:43 And I know that Pedro Martinez was a starter with 45, but it was that type of emotion and that type of grit. And, you know, you're going to have to beat me type of mentality. And that's what you need in that role. Again, I wanted if it was going to be Michael Kopeck, if it was going to be Trinan, if it was going to be whomever, start getting them early, you know, ready early in that role. going into the postseason. So I love what the back end of the bullpen is doing. I'm still wildly concerned about our starting pitching. Yamamoto, I think you and I were texting when he was pitching. And I was like, is this what $325 million get you? And I understand that he was hurt and this, that and the other thing. But here's another situation that I have with Yamamoto. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:04:25 Dodgers overpaid for Yamamoto. Thank you, Stephen Spams, for coming on the show. We appreciate your insight, at least your opinion on this. I, the Dodgers have done every single thing that Yamamoto and his camp have asked for, right? We understand when you are going to bid on a Japanese pitcher when they do the posting that there's a different type of mentality that comes with that. Their schedule is different. The ball is different. The just the mentality is different than an American-born pitcher. That's okay. You know, what you're getting with that. But they've done everything that they've asked for in terms of pitching him on extra rest for Marr standards, you know, every six day or whatever. And he's not
Starting point is 00:05:08 shown me that that schedule is worth revolving the rest of the team around. He was on the shelf for quite some time. He threw 35 pitches in one inning. I worry about the dependability, the reliability of him moving forward in the postseason. The problem is we don't have anybody else. Clayton Kirshod definitely not pitching in the first round. We're going to see what Walker Bueller does tonight. Flaherty is whatever. Land and Nack isn't the answer. I mean, really? I'm very concerned about our starting pitching moving forward. I've been freaking out about it all season. And the division right now kind of on the back of Walker Bueller, who has an ERA close to six. So definitely not a pretty situation, but I'll give the same thing that we were texting about.
Starting point is 00:05:58 I will give Yamamoto some credit in that he is here. He is pitching for this team. The other big offseason acquisition, the trade and extension for Tyler Glasnow, he is nowhere to be. Dodgers wouldn't be in this position if Tyler Glassnow didn't pitch as well as he pitched this season. Yes, do we want him now, obviously. But that was another intrinsic risk that the Dodgers took by signing a guy that has massive injury problems and a history of not being able to pitch a lot of innings in a season.
Starting point is 00:06:26 but the Dodgers would not be in this position with an opportunity to clinch the division if it wasn't for Glasnow because he pitched a whole hell of a lot more times than the Amamoto pitch. Go ahead and finish your thought. I got to look something up. Well, again, I have a problem with Glasnow being out at the most important time of the season. Not that that's what he wanted to do, but hey, you know what, as we kind of just, you know, cycle through this a little bit here, maybe the Dodgers should have been in a little bit harder on Blake Snell in the offseason. And maybe they should have been in a little bit harder on, I don't know,
Starting point is 00:06:58 there weren't a lot of guys. Maybe they should have overwhelmed somebody like an Aaron Nola who was a free agent or whatever. But you don't know. You don't really know who's going to be happy, who's going to be healthy and, you know, ready to compete at the end of the season. And unfortunately, it's not just these, you know, these couple of guys, it's not just Glass now. They're this, everybody in this starting rotation, you know, in the depth chart,
Starting point is 00:07:23 on the depth chart has been injured for this. organization. You're starting all the way back in spring training for him at Sheehan. So right now you work with what you got and at least you have some relievers that can buy you some innings and there's some days off in the postseason in playoffs. So this is this might be me just trying to talk myself into the fact that they won't get bounced in the first round of the second round. We should be more positive considering they just beat the Padres and they are one win away from securing the National League West yet again. But still, we've been there, done that, and I know what comes next.
Starting point is 00:08:00 And that's the shit I get scared of what comes next when you don't have starting pitching. 85 innings for Yamamoto this season, 173 and a third for Shoda Imanaga. Maybe we should have gone more in on Shoda imanaga. Nobody anticipated that he would have the year that he had. And if he wasn't a Japanese-born pitcher, so I'm talking out of both sides of my mouth right now. he would probably be rookie of the year. But because of his age and it's just, I mean, he's 30 years old. A lot of people don't think that that can happen.
Starting point is 00:08:32 I think you're giving up. All right, Philip, giving up on Yamamoto a bit prematurely. He's young. He's adapting. We'll feel better after he wins the Sayang in 2020. Because Shohei is going to win it in 2020. Great. I hope I'm wrong.
Starting point is 00:08:43 I would love it for nothing more than Yamamoto and Shohei to be one and two in our rotation for many years to come. And then that would justify the $1 billion that the Dodgers spent. And Shohei's already paid the dividends. I still think that we need to see what Yamamoto can do to make sure that he was worth that contract. Again, I don't blame him. I'm taking $325 million if somebody wants to give it to me.
Starting point is 00:09:09 I will say I do have some confidence in Yoshinov Yamamoto, just because we've seen him put up some very, very good starts in his short Dodgers tenure. Sure, he had a shoulder issue. He's still bouncing back from it. His most recent start was only his third or fourth game back in total, including rehab, from a rotator cuff injury. So we're going to see something a little bit closer to what we saw against the Braves, something a little bit closer to what we saw against the Yankees than what we saw in his most recent start against the Rockies. At least that's what I kind of feel. Usually on this podcast will kill you, we talk about the diseases, infections, and biological threats that can make us really sick.
Starting point is 00:09:52 But right now, we're doing something a little different. We're stepping back and looking at what the human body needs to keep going. When you consider what we know about sleep in humans, there's one rule that comes out. We are predictably unpredictable sleepers. We're talking about why sleep works the way it does, why our bodies don't follow neat rules, and why modern life makes rest so hard to come by. The second half of our series takes us to the digestive system with a multi-part series on what happens after we eat. Okay, I just have to say that all of my favorite words,
Starting point is 00:10:22 apparently are digestive words. Sphincter, paratostas, duodenum. It's fascinating. It's funny, and it matters so much more than you think. Episodes of our new series run from January 20th through February 17th, with new episodes every Tuesday on the Exactly Right Network. Listen to this podcast will kill you as part of the Exactly Right Network on the Iheart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. But let's talk positive for a second. Let's talk about the one win, the guaranteed win they got
Starting point is 00:10:51 when they did make a big off-season splash, and that is Shohei Otani, who you talk about somebody where if they didn't have Glass now, where would they be? Where would this team be without Shohei F and Otani? This is a boy that is hungry right now. He sees the postseason right there on the horizon, and I am fucking geek to watch this dude play October baseball. He is such appointment television. I remember when he hit 40-40, that was the grand slam, right? The walk-off grand slam wasn't it? That was his 40th home run. Then obviously 50-50 club was three home runs, 10 RBIs, six for six, two stolen bases. And then, of course, when you have to beat the San Diego Padres to give yourself a chance to clinch the division the following night, he ends up two for four.
Starting point is 00:11:40 Dodger Insider tweeting this out last night, Shohei Otani on the possibility of winning the division for the first time in his career. Being able to do this, hopefully to be able to do it in front of the home fans would be something that I'm looking forward to. You guys, there is nothing like the best player on the planet having never tasted a postseason. And that's what we're about to get for Shohei Otani. And don't think for one second that this guy doesn't understand what's at stake. I mean, he never had these opportunities when he was with the angels. He also had to carry the angels on his back. And while he doesn't have to do that with the Dodgers because of the length of the lineup
Starting point is 00:12:10 and because of the other 25 men surrounding him, he is doing that for the Dodgers in a certain extent. I agree with you. Where would this team be? I don't know. I also say the same thing about Teosker. Fernandez extend tail. Hey, two names you mentioned,
Starting point is 00:12:25 were not on the team last year. Just to point that out. Is there something wrong with like, and a lot of you, you've been in that clubhouse and you've seen it. Is there at times maybe, particularly with this organization too much, I can't think of the word,
Starting point is 00:12:43 but it's like they expect to just, you know, figure it out and be good and win that day's game. But sometimes they get punched the face, they kind of are stunned. They don't know what to do. You can't roll out of bed and win a division. It's not that easy.
Starting point is 00:12:57 I know the Dodgers are expected to do that because of payroll and because of talent level. I mean, money, I've said this a thousand times. I'll say it a thousand more. Money does not buy you championships, but it buys you really good players. But you have to have more to it than just being talented. You have to have that hunger. You have to have an ability to play together. You have to have that proverbial chemistry that everybody talks about.
Starting point is 00:13:17 That's incredibly important in order to. win and I was talking to several guys that have won World Series championships before over the course of the weekend and they all said the same thing it's like you're playing for the guy next to you you're not playing we've had some really really crazy talented dodger teams but they were also very selfish teams and I think you know the 2017 2018 2019 2019 2020 teams those were unbelievably talented teams but also very selfless teams the 2014 team I covered was not selfless there were a lot of superstars in there that were very ego driven and egomaniac. So you have to have all of it.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Shohay is unbelievably talented, but also has a hunger that perhaps some of his teammates may not still have because they've been there, done that. I'm not saying that everybody doesn't want to win another world series, but show has never been on this stage, and you know that this guy thrives on the biggest stage. Yeah, so you say that. And there are a number of guys who have been there, done that,
Starting point is 00:14:16 including one, Marcus Lynn Betts, MLB struggling. Oh, for the series. People are not happy. The natives are restless when it comes to Mookie Betts, seeing the struggles again. Dave Roberts said he's kind of, you know, expanding the zone a little bit. Maybe not so much that he's pressing, but he's just not swinging at good pitches. He's also popping up a whole bunch. And maybe Shohay, thank God, he's doing what he's doing because he's protecting us from having to watch Mookiee strike out with the bases loaded or pop up. up with the bases loaded. I love Mookie Betts, but I am immediately getting that ick of, you're getting the ick of last season. You're getting the ick of last postseason. And I think
Starting point is 00:14:58 that is why our viewers and our subscribers and our listeners are restless, because they are going back to 2003 when Mookie and Freddie Freeman went super cold at the plate. And they didn't have anybody else picking them up. Show Hey wasn't here last year. Teosker wasn't here last year. you know, they didn't have the guys contributing up and down the lineup. So that's why the natives are restless because people are like, oh, God, is this going to happen again going into the postseason when two massive bats in your lineup go cold again? So that's why I think people are freaking out. And yes, is he expanding? Okay, well, you better reel it back in because of the postseason, you know, starts next week.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Yeah, bat to ball, easy swings. I don't need to see homers out of mokey bets. I just want to see this team keep the line moving. I think they both, not they both. I think there are some guys who the swing gets long. And you know how Dodger Stadium also plays here in the colder time of the year. We get closer to fall. The ball doesn't travel.
Starting point is 00:15:57 The baseball doesn't travel. I could still see Gavin Lux's almost home run in, or maybe it was Will Smith in 2019, the home run that wasn't and just kind of standing there stunned. Maybe it was both of them. But you got to have a different approach. The reason, I'm not going to say the reason. But you look at when the Dodgers won in 2020. They didn't play at Dodger Stadium, and that helped them out a lot.
Starting point is 00:16:19 I think sometimes they do not know how to play at Dodger Stadium. But two guys I'm watching, two guys I have concerned with, and they're both run producers. That is Mookie Betts and that is Will Smith at this point as we get, we're a few days away from the start of the postseason. Watch those guys. I would like to see a slightly different approach. And have some fun playing baseball at the same time.
Starting point is 00:16:40 You got Show Hey, let him do the heavy lifting. You guys have some fun and contribute. where you can. All right. So let's, let's do the. Oh, all right, super chat. Thank you so much. At this point, would you give cease $325 million? That's interesting. I mean, this is a guy that's thrown the second no-hitter in San Diego Padres history after Joe Musgrove did it before. Would you, is he worth $325? I mean, at this point, he's going out there. He's posting, started the season a little bit rough. He's got to be a $325 guy. You wonder if, if Blake, Snell is all of a sudden also going to be a 325 guy. He's a little bit older. I think he's on the
Starting point is 00:17:17 older side of Dylan Cis, but pitchers that can go out there and put up 30 starts, maybe even 25 in this era. They're going to get paid. I don't think the Dodgers go the Dylan Cs route, but that would not be opposed at all. But we'll say that we'll pocket that one a little bit, a little bit further down the road in the offseason when we get there. I mean, if you're looking at it, it's tough to throw out $325 million to anybody. But it's so much easier in hindsight when you're seeing what those guys are doing and they're not on our team. I mean, if you're a Padres fan, I know that hell would need to freeze over, but let's just pretend right now that you're a Padres fan.
Starting point is 00:17:58 I think you're feeling pretty damn good about your team right now if you're a Padres. Because they are, I think, the most complete Padres team and health-wise, they're the healthiest that they've been in a really long time. And you cannot say that about the Dodgers right now. You can't say that about the Dodgers all season long. Yeah, Padres have positional depth. They have some guys that are producing, even guys that aren't kind of producing up to their career norms,
Starting point is 00:18:25 maybe like a Zander Bogart. He's been a little bit better as he reacclamates himself to shortstop. Jake Croninworth is always going to do damage against the Dodgers, but most importantly, they have some starting pitching, something they didn't have over the last, you know, a couple of years. They didn't really have all those pieces there. And the bullpen is electric. So very dangerous team striding at the right time.
Starting point is 00:18:44 And maybe the Dodgers just kind of once again don't know how to deal with the team that kind of has the good vibes going like that. I don't know kind of where to go with that one. But listen, you're the Los Angeles Dodgers. You got all this money. You got all this talent. You got to go out there and beat these mofos in your house. They cannot win tonight. The Padres cannot win.
Starting point is 00:19:05 Are we going to talk about this freaking. triple play or are we just are we just going to pretend like this didn't happen and that that whole scenario didn't happen and that he wasn't going to let him bunt and all of the things we should we should but we should first hear about our friends at factor so guys we'll be back in a second we're going to hear from our friends a j presensky eric rats and of course scott brawn who's in the chat go factor we're busy you're busy and figuring out food all the time is a hassle especially when you're trying to eat right. We appreciate you so much. on the foul territory platform. All right. So is Dave out of touch? All right. So we set up. There's a few people in the chat who said,
Starting point is 00:20:50 please, what triple play? Don't talk about that. That never happened. It's old news now, but that was just, that was a frustrating. God, that was a frustrating situation. That whole inning,
Starting point is 00:21:03 I was just annoyed, upset. I knew something bad was going to happen. You don't expect the triple play. But so you put, you put on the bunt, you don't get the button down, you don't really go for it, the defense changes and then you put the swing on. So you draw in the infield to possibly set yourself up more for a double play, let alone a triple play. Nobody was thinking a triple play was happening there. Not saying this all extremely well, but I didn't like any part of that. You keep the bunt down,
Starting point is 00:21:33 and I've seen people talking about it, you can make that out at third or whatever. for, sorry, Miguel Rojas is a very, very, he's very good with the bat. He, there was such a massive hole towards second base. You could get a runner over or at the bare minimum not end up grounding into a double play, let alone a triple play. If you push that baseball towards second base with a little bit of gusto, get it past the pitcher, he might even reach on an into field bunt in that situation. However, afterwards, Dave Roberts talking about the, he didn't want to butt,
Starting point is 00:22:07 Bunt into an out in that situation or in that situation. I know what he's saying. What he's attempting to say is that he didn't want to bunt into an out at third base. However, the point of a sacrifice bunt is to sacrifice the out. Literally into an out to put the, yes. And then Shohayotani, as Joe Davis said, Shohayotani is going to get in at bat. The best player in the world was going to get in at bat after Miggie Roe.
Starting point is 00:22:31 Miggie Roe could have struck out. He could have bunted into a double play. Show Hey, Otani was still going to get an opportunity to, possibly tie the game with a homer. But the bat was taken out of his hands. And if Shohay has walked, you know, Mookie comes up, he gets that opportunity. But all of it was a wash because of the decision to take that bunt off.
Starting point is 00:22:51 So there's two things I don't like what Dave has said. And then finally let you talk here. I'm sorry. I've had some agitation about this. But so he says, I didn't want to bunt into the out there, which again, that's the point of a sacrifice bunt. And then the clip that we just had on the screen, if we throw that one back up there, Dave saying that, wait, what did he say again? We still had a pretty good season.
Starting point is 00:23:13 Like there's no, there's no panic on the outside of the clubhouse. We still have had, you know, the best record in baseball. No one inside the clubhouse is worried. I understand that. What else is he going to say? Here's the situation that irritates the hell out of me is that you can't. I mean, granted, the doctors have not bunt into or had, you know, hit into a triple play in 10 years. So it's not, the odds are not in the favor of the Padres for that, right?
Starting point is 00:23:36 Like, you don't think that you're, that's going to happen to you. You don't think you're going to hit into a triple play. It's an unbelievable amount of bad luck, and I do agree with this. It is an unbelievable amount of bad luck. But again, the biggest thing is you do not ever take Shohei Otani out of the equation when you know that he's going to have an opportunity to hit. That was the biggest thing for me. I mean, yes, bad luck, okay, whatever.
Starting point is 00:24:03 And also the fact it was against the Padres at home, and you still have the division on the line. you know yeah yeah no um again you you do not expect the triple play you know i think it was a less than 10% chance or like a 1% chance i don't know it was highly highly unlikely that somebody was going to hit into a triple play however putting the bunt call on or the bunt side on and then taking it off that actually set the triple play up because the infield adjusted manny machado who by the way is a very very very good third baseman played in beyond the the third base bag and was able to make that play and make it a a game ending triple play and again taking the bat
Starting point is 00:24:48 out of show hey otani's hands um i just you keep the bunt on there and i love you know jerry harrison junior was very adamant about this as well you keep the bunt on there uh and and that's one game that's fine but the the going back to that clip there what dave said he surprised about the panic outside you know outside of the clubhouse dave did you forget about the last two post seasons this feels the same way. This is the same shit that we've seen the last two years where it just feels like there's a lot of excuses like, oh, we know we're a good ball club.
Starting point is 00:25:21 We're going to play better tomorrow. That eventually you run out of tomorrow's. So maybe. Yeah, I think the problem is Dodger fans and perhaps my co-host, Clint Paseas, wants to see Dave Roberts like flip over tables and get really fucking pissed because they didn't play well. But that's not Dave's personality. That's more of a Tommy Lasota personality.
Starting point is 00:25:40 You're never going to see Dave Roberts do that. that that's not who he is. We don't know if he's throwing tables over in the Dodgers clubhouse. We don't know if someone's stepping up, they're screaming and panicking, like, what are you doing? Or like, Dave, what the F? Why aren't you, you know, why don't you just leave the bunt sign on? Why put it, why put it on and then take it off and then, you know, and have that happen to you. Again, hasn't happened in 10 years, but for whatever reason, it's magnified now because of the situation. You don't let Shohei Otani hit. It's against the friggin' pardres. You're at home, obviously, because it ended the game. And you still don't have the division secured.
Starting point is 00:26:11 That's why people are freaking out. But if you want this to get a rise out of Dave, that's not going to happen because that's not Dave's personality. So again, and then that's going to have to leave it up to our fan base, us flipping over tables and being pissed. We are predictably unpredictable sleepers. We're talking about why sleep works the way it does,
Starting point is 00:26:48 why our bodies don't follow neat rules, and why modern life makes rest so hard to come by. The second half of our series takes us to the digestive system with a multi-part series on what happens after we eat. Okay, I just have to say that all of my favorite words apparently are digestive words. Sphinctor, peristolsus, duodenum. It's fascinating. Starting point is 00:28:44 She's a year old. She's a beautiful, beautiful dog. She is smart. She is active. She is vaccinated. She is spayed. She is cool as hell. Look at her with her little sunnies on.
Starting point is 00:28:55 That's why they call her Sunny. She is available for adoption. She's great with other dogs. She's great with kids. She's a wonderful pup. She needs a home. Please, please, please. On this hashtag, remember me Thursday, honoring all orphaned dogs.
Starting point is 00:29:10 that have no homes. Guidry's guardian.org. We would love to share more information about her. And by the way, Guidry's Guardian Foundation has one heck of an auction going on right now. Our wonderful supporter by the name of Christina donated her two Taylor Swift tickets to the concert, the heirs tour show in November, November 1st,
Starting point is 00:29:31 in Indianapolis. She could not go to the concert anymore. So instead of selling her tickets or having a refund given to her, she donated them to us. So it's two tickets, November 1st at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indy. Now, airfare and hotel not included in this, but two tickets. You can bid at 32 auctions.com slash GGF Taylor Swift for an opportunity to win these two tickets. So who doesn't want to go see the heiress tour, Taylor Swift, as my youngest stepdaughter
Starting point is 00:30:02 just walked in the room wondering what the heck I was talking about. All right, baseball thought for the road. Yes, Kylie, you've already been. Baseball thought for the road. How worried if they don't clinch the division tonight? I don't know if it's worried because you still control your own destiny. You had to win one game in this Padre series. You wanted to win more.
Starting point is 00:30:25 You wanted to sweep. I'm not worried about them not winning the NOS if they do not win tonight. I'm just worried about, I will continue to worry about them in the postseason. That's where I'm at. I also worry, as Sarah brings up, in our chat here. I worry about them having to play meaningful games, important games in Colorado, with the Dodgers pitching staff in Colorado, anybody existing at Coors Field where just bad
Starting point is 00:30:50 things happen. That's where I'm at. But I'm not extremely worried about the NL West. Where are you at in this situation? I'm more worried about I'm not going on short rest. I'm worried about the fact that we don't have, I mean Yamamoto, sorry, maybe. Maybe I really wanted Imanaga. He did.
Starting point is 00:31:12 I will say I was big on Imanaga in the offseason. People go back, check the tape on my channel. You guys can see I wanted Shotasan. I think he would have been great. But don't you think if he's worth again, and listen, I've never thrown a pitch in the major leagues, what the hell do I know? But don't you think if this guy was worth $325 freaking million that you would pitch him on short rest to clinch your division?
Starting point is 00:31:35 I mean, are you that, are you that soft? Are you that fragile that you can't, like, you can't pitch on one day of short rest when you haven't had the innings building up all season long? I will say I do believe that the team is coddling him a little bit too much. I think he can more than handle an every fifth day start. I think he would be just fine. He would not explode. And you've seen, we saw it in practical application, six days in between. they still had an injury.
Starting point is 00:32:08 So you need to be available when your team needs you most. And now it's going to be bullpen games in Colorado, which, okay, so you're hiring out your bullpen because you don't have starters that can go deep into a game. And then your bullpen's going to be exhausted when the postseason actually starts. And it is tough to pitch in Colorado on top of the fact that you're going to have a bullpen game. Yeah. So when tonight, Walker Bueller, we need you. this is the biggest start of your life as a Dodger in 2024.
Starting point is 00:32:40 You need to go out there. Second half of the season. I need Butane to be butane of old. And I've been praying for this. The fan in me wants that old Walker Bueller back because that's what. Oh, no. Oh, no. Riz has been driven to drinking thanks to Walker Bueller.
Starting point is 00:32:58 I'm saying he's going to have something of a shove. I'm calling it a Walker Bueller shove. Six innings, two runs tonight for Walker. win. Dodgers win on schedule, as Vin Scully told us in 2016. By the way, shout out to Makers Mark for the L.A. focused kit that they sent me. This is pretty sweet. You guys, there's L.A.
