It's that time of year. A lot of people call it the slow season, but for us, it never stops. Rumors are swirling. There's a lot going on. We're really transitioning into this, this period. here where speculation how much can we pull from that and really projecting you know how do we put it all together buddy yeah well we put a lot together it's going to be a jam pack show guys if you can please like the show please subscribe to the channel here on youtube if you haven't already we're trying to get to 6,000 subscribers after that maybe 4 billion whatever you can do and also rate and review
Starting point is 00:02:57 the show on all your podcast platforms that really helps the show keep going keep growing but for now let's get into the big ticket scottie we got our so a Roki Sasaki Sweepstakes update. Rob Manfred, Commissioner of Major League Baseball, says yesterday that he will not be posted in this international free agency window, which changes the game a little bit for the Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Of course, we see Jorge Castillo here. I believe he's in New York Times. I forgot where he's at now. Former Dodgers beat writer. But yeah, he's not expected to sign until after January 15th. How do you think this affects the team, affects the thinking. I mean, there's more to the Sasaki saga,
Starting point is 00:03:44 but just off the bat, how do you think this affects the thinking and where the off-season progresses for the Dodgers here and leading up to the winter meetings? So I think a move like this was, you know, a lot of the chatter surrounding this was that Sasaki being posted prior to this, you know, in this 2024 deadline didn't make sense from a financial standpoint.
Starting point is 00:04:04 But I would say the way that it alters it for the Dodgers, I don't think much. Now it just gives them the ability to offer him more money and continue to, you know, be in that playing field with the rest of the teams around Major League Baseball. Now they just have a deeper pool to get into. They'll be on the lower end, of course, of that pool. But they'll be able to offer him a contract now that's smack dab where I feel like it pays Sasaki adequately, but keeps them right in the hunt. It takes away the speculation of kind of anything else of offering him. Yeah, he just took the lowest of it.
Starting point is 00:04:35 But I think it just allows the Dodgers to offer him, you know, a substantial, contract in terms of what the rules for this post, like the posting limits in this period. But it just, it keeps the Dodgers right where I think they need to be. Yeah, I mean, they're in a good spot. If anything, I know Ken Rosenthal today, Fair Territory was saying maybe this helps the Dodgers a little bit because there have been some rumors. One correction, I said New York Times, Jorge is ESPN, so that's my bet on that. But the other side of it, there was a report that dropped today, Evangrelic, of the
Starting point is 00:05:08 the athletic pointing out that there are some teams. We know there are a lot of teams, a lot of us, a lot of everybody, insiders believing, hey, the Dodgers probably are the front runners to land. Roki Sasaki, this winter, the thinking is maybe some people might be thinking there's kind of a handshake agreement already in place. Something as Joel Wolf, the agent Joe Wolf said for Wasserman, you know, there's nothing nefarious in place was his verbiage of it. but there's a few wrinkles of this whole thing.
Starting point is 00:05:41 Jim Bowden also joined a foul territory yesterday saying that maybe, you know, Sasaki to the Dodgers isn't as much of a done deal as some people think. And then there's the other side of it. There's like this endorsement factor. It's a weird time to be talking, to be talking about, let's throw this up on the screen, to be talking about Roki Sasaki and these rumors because, yeah, again, it's very, very much all over. over the place. Some people believe, yeah, it's Dodgers all the way, then other people, very much not.
Starting point is 00:06:15 I like what you said before. We were talking pre-production before the show. Nobody really knows what's going on right now. Nobody knows the full thinking of Roki Sasaki. But what's kind of what you're feeling in your bones about where things are at with Sasaki and the Dodgers and kind of all 29 other teams. Yeah. So, you know, the report from Bowden, like, you know, not saying it's a done deal for sure and that there's other teams aside from the Dodgers that have a striking chance at landing Sasaki. I think everybody has a chance. But I think that with the pulse from the rest of the GMs around Major League Baseball, all kind of having this same theme in the presence that it's the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Dodgers. You hear that a lot. It's not a theme that
Starting point is 00:06:58 it probably just happens to happen. It's probably just because it's understanding the presence that Friedman, Andrew Friedman, and his staff, you know, his international scouting. staff, these guys, they've had this, you know, group, they've been working on landing Sasaki for some time now. So I think that this is just the Dodgers presence. I think that, you know, Dallas Keikle coming out and saying that he believes that it's a done deal for whatever that means, right? It adds to the chatter, right? But I think that, you know, if Bowden wants to save something about money, now, like I said earlier, Sasaki is going in this next posting period, opens a the Dodgers up to offering him a contract that's competitive with the rest.
Starting point is 00:07:40 The difference is that teams at the high end of that in this 2025 period were sitting around $7 million, right? Seven and a half million. Now, the Dodgers can offer a contract. They'll be at the lower end, so around 5.1. The difference in the money they could have offered him in the 2024 period currently, it's the same exact difference now. Now every single team has the opportunity to offer him a contract.
Starting point is 00:08:03 So anybody's questions, was this a handshaken thing? thing for the Dodgers prior, it's washed away. Like it's a good thing that Sasaki let this happen. You know, they're pushing this towards the 2025 period because it eliminates those question marks. Yeah. And it's just now maybe he had the Dodgers all along. And if it doesn't happen, then, I mean, not that people were wrong.
Starting point is 00:08:24 It's that other teams just had a different pitch, maybe a little bit more money. But it's the question of can the Dodgers just offer way too much in terms of guarantees, in terms of, you know, whatever structure they have. It's just now it's an even playing field from a sense of money and everything else. Now, where we know, I mean, we've heard the rumors or we've heard kind of from, reportedly rumored from Sasaki's camp, what he's looking for. He's looking to win. He's looking for top-notch organization, top-notch player development.
Starting point is 00:08:52 Now, that is something the Dodgers can offer better than just about any organization out there. And if he's going to sign somewhere, it's probably not going to be just because of the money. It's not just going to be because of the endorsements. because Otani and Yamamoto are there or are not. It's going to be because Dodgers have won the best chance of running it back and winning in 2025. Maybe they do. The odds, most recent odds coming out, say they do. Dodgers fans might feel a little bit different looking at the state of the roster.
Starting point is 00:09:21 We will talk roster in a little bit, but they are good. They are great at developing pitchers. And that's what Roki Sasaki wants to do. He wants to be here. Money is not important to him. If money was important, he would wait a couple more years to be posted. And he'd get the bag, probably more, maybe more, than what we saw Yoshinobu Yamamoto get last winter. I went and sat on the little ottoman in front of him.
Starting point is 00:09:48 Hi, Dad. And just when I said that, my mom comes out of the kitchen. She says, I have some cookies and milk. This is a badass convict. Right. Just finished five years. I'm going to have cookies and milk. Yeah, mom.

Starting point is 00:11:58 But let's take a step back for a second. Let's listen to Jim Bowden on with the boys at foul yesterday, this whole 85% chance he signs elsewhere. We'll listen to that and we'll kind of dissect it from there. He's not one of those players that's going to go where Wasserman and Joel Wolfe's agent are going to send them. He's going to make his own call. But the sense I get from everyone is that the narrative of him going to the Dodgers, it's way more likely he signs elsewhere than he signs there. And I'm not saying at the end of the day, you know, perhaps he changes his mind. Perhaps Otani and Yamamoto can convince him. but based on what I'm hearing, I would say 85% chance he does not sign with the Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:12:41 So a couple of things there. A couple of things. I mean, we almost immediately say one thing and then kind of step it back, which, hey, listen, I'm all about that. I do that all the time on my show. But he's like 85%, but also I'm not going to be surprised if he signs with the Dodgers. I don't think anybody's going to be surprised. I at this point would be surprised if he signs elsewhere. I don't think there's a deal in place.
Starting point is 00:13:02 I think I, Yeroki, Joel Wolf, they're going to be. going to do their due diligence. They're going to talk to a lot of organizations that are worth talking to. Sorry, Colorado Rockies. You're probably not in the running. But they're going to do their homework. They're going to talk to organizations. And it's probably going to be the Dodgers at the end of the day. What are your thoughts about Jim Bowden there? The Dodgers check all the boxes. They check every single box. Jim Bowden taking, you know, saying 85%. It's basically saying, I'm going to do that, you know, take the field. That's just the dog. He's not picking the Dodgers. There's a lot of momentum that way, opening it up to the money. If the endorsement,
Starting point is 00:13:34 thing. If Sasaki is that marketable, he'll find those endorsements kind of wherever he goes. But if the other boxes that he's looking to check are sustainability, an incredible structure, Otani's coming back from not his second Tommy John, they're not calling it a Tommy John, but from a second elbow procedure, right? There is a plan in place for a lot of these guys. The Dodgers have a six-man rotation, six-man rotational, air quotes that, going into 2025. So it already has a built-in thing for him. They're not going to ask him to do much of anything else he hasn't already been doing in the MPB. And from what I know and what we've seen is that the Dodgers are going to be incredibly careful with these pitchers.
Starting point is 00:14:17 It's just what they're going to do. If they have a need and they need to supplement something, they're going to go out and they're going to make it happen. So they're on the Dodgers are on the hunt to supplement this starting rotation. And what better spot to get Sasaki, someone who needs to get his feet wet in Major League. baseball with already a ton of veteran guys on the roster currently. You have Yamamoto, you have Otani. He'll come back mid-year. But there is just a, you know, a mentorship that can come from that. And I know you Darvish with the Padres, there's a lot of pull there, different stuff. So what I think in the boxes that are going to be checked with the Dodgers, always, that's just the system they've
Starting point is 00:14:52 set up. They are now a destination for free agents. You can get your money. You can absolutely get your money if you're what fits the bill and you're going to have a chance to be able to win year in and year playing in a structure with an environment that players want to be in. So I think that from what we heard from, you know, from Bowden, 85% take in the field, you can have that. But what I'm going to say, all the boxes are getting checked with the Dodgers. But that's kind of where I stand with it, Clint. Yeah, I hear you on that.
Starting point is 00:15:22 I mean, either way, Roki is not a factor for the next couple of months. So we can kind of move on. I'm going to pause for a second to say, one, guys, subscribe to the channel if you haven't subscribed. already. Give the video thumbs up if you want Roki Sasaki to be a Dodgers sometime in the middle of January. We got a couple of super chats, by the way, our friend Bob Nightingale, not the real Bob Nightingale in the chat says, 499 super chat, thank you very much. He says Bowden, sorry, Bowman, well, I'm guessing it's Bowden, is a noob per sources. He's not a noob. He is a
Starting point is 00:15:52 former general manager. He does talk to people. He's not just pulling this out of his you nowhere. He is talking to people. But it's a tough time of year, and he's got a lot of columns he's got a right. So I understand painfully well where Jim Bowden is working. And $1.99 from our friend Richard Flores saying Scott is a Dodger Pro, no kitchen for his backdrop. My
Starting point is 00:16:13 co-host on my show, Kevin Skinner, catching some strays for the kids table in the kitchen. But let's spin forward a little bit. So we know Roki Sasaki, not a factor to be a Dodger at least for the next couple of months. To me, I'm looking at the state of the
Starting point is 00:16:29 Dodger starting rotation right now, and I uncomfortable. I do not see a group of dudes that can run it back because you really only have I don't, I mean, you could say four healthy dudes, you could say three healthy dudes, you could say two healthy dudes because Otani is not going to be ready for opening day because of his labrum surgery. Yamamoto had the shoulder injury last year. Glass now finished the year on the injured list. Tony Gonson, we haven't seen since he was pitching mostly injured in 2023, very good in 2020, but these are the guys you have. Clayton Kirshaw still technically a free agent.
Starting point is 00:17:04 Walker Bueller, a free agent. Now we hear the other part of it. Ken Rosenthal also reporting something I agree on. The Dodgers are going to be hot in the starting pitching market, and they reportedly have met with Blake Snell's representatives this week. Maybe it was this week, but Snell trying to get signed a lot sooner than he did last year. There's three big name free agents. There's Blake Snell, Corbynnell, Corbyn Burns.
Starting point is 00:17:29 and Max Fried. These are the three the Dodgers have been linked to all off season. Who do you like more? What's kind of of the feeling you have in your soul of who fits the Dodgers' best
Starting point is 00:17:41 long term and who realistically has the best chance of coming to L.A.? I would say so it's a nice conversation to have because it also has the name power, right? And we can operate this. This is something we talked about, pretty as well,
Starting point is 00:17:58 about the Dodgers hunting for the high-end starting pitching. And I think that with Corbyn Burns, he's going to provide you length. He's going to provide you bulk stuff. I know there's some concerns about the strikeout stuff coming down, but I think the Dodgers pitching staff, you know, Mark Pryor and the rest of the planning guys there, they have an ability to get the best out of these guys. But Corbyn Burns goes in, day in, day out. He's making you 32 starts a year.
Starting point is 00:18:21 He's going to be out there all the time. But for what Blake Snell provides, he's not going to command, you know, a deal in the seven-year range. It might be a four. It might be a five, but he's going to give you big time strikeout stuff. Walk numbers are there for sure. But I think that there's enough traction with Snell last offseason before the Giants offered him that contract. The Dodgers made their, like we're ready to make their pitch as well. It didn't happen. So there is a track record there. I think it's kind of one and one with Snell or Corbyn Burns. I don't mind either one. Max Fried, I know, is just an incredible talent. But there is a run of, you know, injuries there that I kind of want to stay away from.
Starting point is 00:19:01 I know the rapport he has with the players right now. I just, I don't know why. There's something telling me to stay away a little bit from Max Fried. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. But it still means that they were either in the hunt for Corvin Burns or Blake Snell. Yeah, I mean, obviously, you know, Snell has some history around the Dodgers with the Dodgers. I really do like where he's at in his career right now. You saw him kind of have a really, really bad start. to his 2024 season wearing a Giants uniform. But he's been around the league now at this point. He's a two-time Cy Young Award winner.
Starting point is 00:19:33 Like, you can't take that away. Both leagues, the dude's been the best in two leagues at different points in his career. I love the ability to punch. I love the ability to, he seems like he fits in as a Dodger very well. Because we know in L.A. The expectation isn't always to go seven, eight, nine, ten innings or whatever. Like, he can be a five-and-dive. He can be a six-inning guy.
Starting point is 00:19:53 We know what others think about. somebody like a Blake Snell, but he fits into the six-man rotation idea. He can give you more if he needs, but I like the ability to rear back and get a punch out. You can get that a little bit with Burns as well. Burns can definitely get you more innings. And when you're looking at the state of the staff
Starting point is 00:20:13 and all of the injuries, and we had Mark Pryor on the show on Monday talking about the six-man rotation and some of how it affects the rest of the team, the bullpen, somebody else who can be in there, you could plug in 180, 200 innings. I think that goes a long way. And both of those dudes, you know, the best case scenario, both of them can.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Or there's injuries and then we're all sad and everything explodes. But if I have, we'll say, you know, I don't want to say gun to my head, but I'm going to say gun to my head right now. I take Blake's knell. I've been kind of in on Blake's knell. I started talking myself into him towards the end of last off season. and I think it's the perfect time for him to go home, join his father, Austin Barnes, for what could be Barnes's last season in Dodger Blue. Go join Papa and try to run it back.
Starting point is 00:21:08 That's where I'm at on Blake Snell on these rumors. With that, I'll ask you one more and then we'll move on. In my opinion, as well, going back to the Roki Sasaki thing, I feel like the fact that it is delayed. So the Dodgers right now, they don't know where they're at. It helps in knowing, yeah, we're not going to sign them immediately. But again, the state of the starting rotation is a little iffy. I'm wondering if this increases the chances of the Dodgers resigning Walker Bueller.
Starting point is 00:21:41 I know you would love to have Walker back. I think all of us would love to have Walker back after listening to him on Mukie Betts podcast this week. is that something you think is maybe in Andrew Friedman, Brandon Goem's mind kind of pushing it a little bit more than they might have, let's say, two weeks ago? I would say, I would say it kind of stays the same. I think they've factored all these things in. I think the Dodgers front office knew that this was going.
Starting point is 00:22:08 If Roki Sasaki were to have signed on, you know, he hasn't even, you know, ball hasn't gotten rolling yet, right? So I think that them not, the Dodgers front office not slapping the, qualifying offer on Walker Bueller, just did him, you know, an incredible service by allowing him to go out, find out what the market is for him. And I've seen projections. I know ESPN's Kylie McDaniel put out a projection for Walker Bueller. And we debated this on our Dodger Head Show that it was three years, 54 million. I think that's very steep from what we saw. But I think that the intrigue that I've seen, and I was critical of Walker Bueller at the beginning of last year, just because I wanted to see his
Starting point is 00:22:45 fastball metrics weren't great. I was saying that he needs to, lend more towards throwing his secondary stuff, and you got to see that a lot. When he was at his best, his cutter was working beautifully. His knuckle curve numbers were ticking up, and you got to see that on the biggest stage in the final inning of the World Series. He lent a lot of, you know, he loved his knuckle curve. He stuck with it. So from what I would like to see with Walker Bueller coming back is maybe a one-in-one
Starting point is 00:23:11 sign him to a one-year. Second year is a mutual option there. But I think that Walker Bueller, there's a lot left in the tank. And just like he said, Walker Bueller, quote, He said, I'm a problem now. I'm a problem now. I'm a problem now. He was heavily loaded on Bud Light, by the way.
Starting point is 00:23:26 But yeah, I agree. He's a problem. But that's when his truth's coming out, right? So I want to see Walker Bueller back just because if you guide him through the regular season, whatever you get out of him, he's going to continue to learn, continue to build. I want to see, again, how much does 21 have left in the tank here? What does he have towards the postseason? Because there's players that just perform and the lights are on.
Starting point is 00:23:47 Kike Hernandez has done it year and a year. out, Walker Bueller has done it year in, year in and year out. When that postseason lens is on him, something happens. But I think this second part of Walker Bueller's career is something that I personally don't want to see anywhere else. I've, you know, said if he gets in the Brewers Lab, the Tampa Bay Rays, he goes to the Cleveland Guardians and they figure out a little bit more, I'll be upset. I need him to stay with the Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:24:13 But Clint, I also think that they can do a deal like that while getting a front-end guy with Sasaki just because they need these starting pitchers. They'll need these arms and going ahead out like getting going out on the limb and saying a six man rotation is where they're trending. They'll need they'll need to make this happen. And you need more. We saw it last year.
Starting point is 00:24:34 You need to have more. We've seen it in so many years past. We had a spring training where there was like eight I think there was eight starting pitchers vying for five spots and you still had to go to 10, 12 different arms getting starts, getting opens, whatever it is. So bring back Bueller, sign Blake Snell, hope that Roki Sasaki comes to L.A. And you're in a really, really good spot to run it back
Starting point is 00:24:57 because you know Clayton Kershaw still coming back at some point and you have other bodies ready to go. Maybe Dustin May moves to the bullpen, fills in that Daniel Hudson spot. So a lot of stuff. Very, very, I think it's going to be, has the potential to be a crazy, busy winter meetings for the team, even if they're not getting anything done.
Starting point is 00:25:18 But perfect timing. Okay, go ahead. Look at the last thing. Real quick, look at the starting rotation of what it is. It's like Yamamoto. Otani's not coming back to second half. And then you've got Tyler Glass now, which they often monitor with his elbow, like, very closely. Tony Gonson's working into a full workload.
Starting point is 00:25:33 Bobby Miller has this stuff, but we have no clue what we're getting. Dustin May, can he sustain a starting pitching type of workload? Land and Nax out there. So there's a lot of question marks. They'll need arms. It's a deeper thing. I'm not going to say it's a problem. because they can find the production. They always do.
Starting point is 00:25:48 But it's an area that they'll need to dip heavily into, which is why do that. Bring back to Oscar Hernandez, Kika Hernandez. All right, next segment. I went and sat on the little ottoman in front of him. I said, hi, Dad. And just when I said that, my mom comes out of the kitchen. She says, I have some cookies and milk. This is a badass convict.
Starting point is 00:26:11 Right. Just finished five years. I'm going to have cookies and milk at mom. Yeah. What a great front, Ann, if that doesn't get you hyped, I don't know what will, but we're going to have a little bit of fun here with me and Scott E.G. Guys, make sure you're subscribed, of course. Follow him on
Starting point is 00:28:32 the Twitter if you're not already. It's at Scott German. He makes it really easy. It's just his name. We are two weeks away, with two and a half weeks away from winter meetings. Dodgers have some holes. Yeah, that's still a very, very good product out
Starting point is 00:28:48 but they got some holes on that roster. We've already talked a lot about the pitching side of things. They committed breaking news. They committed a lot of money to this team last year. How much more can they commit? And we already kind of talked a little bit about, you know, other additions. Maybe we're talking before the show, actually, about like Willie Adomas. That's another name.
Starting point is 00:29:10 Ken Rosenthal threw into the equation. Other players saying the Dodgers are among the favorites to potentially land a Willie Adomis. If I'm looking where there are holes, outfield, infield, non-pitching side, I want to see a Willie Adomas in a Dodgers uniform. But let's kind of spit ball with this. What, in your opinion right now, put on your best Andrew Friedman cap, your best Andrew Friedman robe, what do you think the Dodgers plan is this offseason? So with Willie Adomas, and I see some regulars in the chat that tune into our stuff.
Starting point is 00:29:43 When I've, you know, I've been speaking about Willie Adamas since last year, when they're figuring out shortstop. Willie Adomas is someone that, of course, he's at the high end of where the start, like the shortstop market is at, right? But if we're getting into the range of a contract for Willie Adamas and we're pushing 200 million, say seven years, 200 million, that's too much for me.
Starting point is 00:30:04 That is too much. I'll put that flat out. But if it's getting to the point where it's six years, like a buck 50, which is where like Spottrack have him projected at, he is the cream of the crop right now on the free agent. shortstop market, right? And then if you project ahead, you look towards, you know, year after year, I would say up until Gunner Henderson's potentially a free agent with the Baltimore Orioles,
Starting point is 00:30:27 which I don't think he leaves there. There are not many options out there. He'd be willing to pencil in saying, I'm going to give a contract to, I'm going to bring you in to the Dodgers organization and be there everyday shortstop. So it's kind of, I'm not going to say this last stop, but it is one of their last opportunities to fill the shortstop void. Unless they're just going to pencil in Miguel Rojas, they're going to say, Tom. Tommy Edmund. You're going to be our part-time shortstop, which I love me some Tommy Edmund. One of my favorite players that I've acquired in the last 10 years, right? But this is the opportunity. It definitely is. And I think that's why they're keeping their options open to pivot a certain number of ways. I won't be upset either one. But Clint, it's definitely with Willie Adamas. That's that, that's this last opportunity to sign one of those upper echelon guys where it's not a Trey Turner contract. It's not a Xander Bogart's contract. But you're still going to be getting this power production. in here. Yeah, and it's also not a Corey Seeger level contract. And we know they were willing to go pretty high on keeping Corey Seeger around. Look, the fact of the matter is the Dodgers have some
Starting point is 00:31:27 infield prospects, but they don't have, what my feeling is, they don't have guys they fully trust. They don't have guys they are willing to run out there. The last guy we saw was Miguel Vargas, flamed out in 23, traded in 24, saddest man in baseball in 24. They don't have dudes that they really, really, I know, I'll throw that in there, really that they are fully bought into. Maybe Kellynne, Lindsay down the road. I like the outfield depth they have if we are projecting forward. We're looking at Hoseway DePaul, maybe Zaire Hope. The other kid, Kendall George, they have some speed, they have some talent, whether they help at the major league level in a Dodger uniform or they help elsewhere in a trade.
Starting point is 00:32:12 They have the outfield kind of covered. But when you look at at the infield, this needs to be the offseason. That kind of, it doesn't just set you up for 2025. I think it sets you up for three years down the road, for five years down the road. And, you know, we talked a lot. Our producer Sarah threw in the chat, like, are we interested in the Boba Chet trade? I think Toronto is still keen on holding on to him, but maybe he's somebody that's available at the trade deadline. But I don't want to be in that situation that we found ourselves in a couple months.
Starting point is 00:32:44 months ago, Scott, where we were worried we knew how much help this team needed at the trade deadline and kind of got lucky taking a flyer on an injured player who hadn't even played and Tommy Edmund. He, you know, he goes into Corey Seeger God mode during the NLCS, steps in, plays a great shortstop and all that. I mean, we kind of lucked into that, I feel like, if you can get a Willie Adamas right now and it literally is just costing you money, and he's somebody who can play shortstop for you for the next three or four years and maybe move third if one of those other shortstop dudes works out you got to i think you got to go in what was the number you said is too high for you 200 if it's true if it's that's that's pretty 100 it's too
Starting point is 00:33:26 much i understand what he's at but it's the the tier of hitter or it's the it's the you know caliber of hitter that like teoska hernandez is right it's a lot of you're going to get a lot of slug you're going to get some whiff in there but the caveat is that williamis he had a down year defensively this one but i think it's more of an outlier but he is an elite defender But I saw someone in chat say that, you know, they, Brandon Gohm said that shortstop is not a priority for them. I think they can find the production and a couple different spots. But a lot of this depends on with Mookie Betts moving back to the infield. It's a lot of that happened because I remember the second that was announced last year that Mookie was taken right field reps.
Starting point is 00:34:08 It was just an immediate relief that it opened up the rest of the roster. And it just, we remember that. We definitely do. That it was a huge deal. And I know if Mookiee Bet's moving back to the infield, now what do you do with Gavin Lux? Is he a rotational guy here? You need to find some outfield options.
Starting point is 00:34:24 But again, I think that if you're there comfortable with the platoon of Dalton rushing and Andy Pahas in a corner outfield spot, then I'm okay with that. I really am. There's at one point, Clint, you've got to find out, like, can these top prospects play? And I think that Dalton rushing has production to be able to do it. You bring back to Oscar Hernandez here and slots right in.
Starting point is 00:34:46 Then you're basically heading into 2025 with the offense that you felt comfortable again, running into a season with or the second part of a season and eventually going on to win a world series. So I don't think you have to do too much offensively. I think I'm convincing myself more about Willie Adomas just because of not having a shortstop that's a mainstay, big time guy makes me uncomfortable. But I think if they find the production elsewhere, I think we'll be able. okay. Yeah, for me again, I'll throw this out there. And with all due respect to my my all Dodgers co-host, producer Kevin, Mookie Betts is not going to be a shortstop.
Starting point is 00:35:26 Even if throwing was his biggest issue, he's still not going to be a shortstop and moving him here at this age. Yeah, it's not the right move. Second base is great. Now, what does that mean for Gavin Lux? Gavin Lux's only value to this team is now going to be as a shortstop. So you work on it, You figure it out. If they don't sign Willie Adomas are like, we'll have to hit this one quick as we are running out of time. But do how comfortable are we if they at some point tell us during the winter meetings like Gavin Lux could be our shortstop? And then we mean, we know we have ripcords. We know we have Miguel Rojas.
Starting point is 00:36:01 We know we have Tommy Edmund around, which makes me feel better about doing the Lux experiment again. I mean, we've seen him be an elite bat when he's right, when he's healthy, when he talks to on. Uncle Aggie, Uncle Augie. But if you hear that, what's your stomach doing if you hear Gavin Lux is going to get a chance as be the starting shortstop again? Churning. Churning. Churning.
Starting point is 00:36:26 This is why. The Thanksgiving meal churning, Clint. And this is why I believe if you can go out and get Willie Adamas, you got to go out and get Willie Adamas. But guys, we should move on. There's a lot of conversation to be had about this. We got all off season to be talking about it. But what we want to do right now is go to Last Lakes.
Starting point is 00:36:53 Guys, Alana's not here. That doesn't mean we're not showcasing a pup. This is Bernadette. You guys have seen Bernadette before. Bernadette is a good girl, according to all reports. Insiders have confirmed she is a good girl. She was also spayed this week. So she just turned six months old and is ready to be like the rest of her brothers and sisters.
Starting point is 00:37:15 and find her forever home. Again, only six months old. She's leash potty train. She's vaccinated, chipped, and ready for adoption. Reach out to gidreysguardian.org for more information. Send Alana a DM. I'm sure she would love that if people are slipping into her DMs. She definitely would love it if it is to get a doggo home.
Starting point is 00:37:39 But that is Bernadette, and she looks like a very, very good girl. Quickly, I mean, I mean, we're, again, we're pretty low on time. I'm going to do this. Let's talk for a minute about how good Mookie Betts podcast was, and one factor in there where they all agreed. San Diego was the best team this team faced in the playoffs. San Diego's still pretty good.
Starting point is 00:38:05 They have some missing pieces, but the Dodgers got to get better. That's all I'm going to throw to you. Run with that. I left you very little to work with. Run with that. Dodgers got to get better than the Padres. I called this getting out of the division series round on our shows. First off, the podcast was incredible.
Starting point is 00:38:22 I loved it. Mookiee Betz is amazing at it. Everybody can weep. Mookiee Betz is doing his thing. It's incredible. I love that the players are standing with him on that. But from what we said, we all could see that the potteries had the most complete roster going into that postseason.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Their deadline moves for AJ Preller were cherry-on top type of moves. Those are the moves that if you go on to win a World Series, you say you did a hell of a job, Preller. Like those are the moves. that they needed. They did it. They accomplished it, but they didn't. The Dodgers knew that they were, the Padres were a force. It's just they went into an incredible cold streak. The Dodgers game plan and prepare and execute second to none, better than anybody. So they all agreed that once they got through that Max Muncie even said it himself. He's like, it's not that we, you know, let up. It's that we could
Starting point is 00:39:07 take a breath that they got past what they saw was the best team in the playoffs. And I loved it. That's the biggest thing I took away. Yeah, I mean, it was so good. If you guys haven't seen it, check it out. Usually, we don't promote a whole lot of other people's stuff, but do check that out from Bleacher report. I heard, because I have a friend who works at BR and Moogie shot all of that himself. He did all the audio himself and just gave it to Bleacher Report.
