Number one hits, millions of records sold, awards, sold out tours.
You think that Jonas Brothers are satisfied?
Nope, it's podcast time.
We get to ask other people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Hey Jonas is available now, and their first guest is a big one.
Paul Rudd.
You know, Steve Carell is a great singer.
Can you tell you not to audition at the office or something?
I told him.
Whoa.
We were filming Anchorman.
Clearly, I was the idiot.
Thank God he didn't listen to him, right?
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.

Why do I watch the World Cup?
That's like asking me, why do I breed?
And it's beautiful.
The guys are young and cute and fit.
It's not just a game.
It's your culture.
I like watching it with my dad.
It's a connecting force.
From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in
U.S. and its underdog roots.

I can never just really sit back and take in the experience, the Marvel that is Shoha Tani
to hit at an MVP level to pitch at a Sy Young caliber clip.
It's insane.
Good evening, everybody, and welcome to a brand new episode, a brand new post game of Dodgers
territory.
Alana Rizzo, Clint Paseas with you.
Katie Wu, of course, is in the Dodgers.
Clubhouse getting ready to talk to Dave Roberts as well as the team after a very nice 7-0
victory over division rival the Arizona Diamondbacks Clint good to be with you as always

So, all right, let's get into this. This is game with 62 of 162,
Shohay Otani Clint, going up against right-hander Zach Gallen.
We'll talk Shohei a lot, of course, but the Dodgers offense jumped all over Zach Gallen early on.
Yeah, this is an offense that had an axe to grind didn't have a great first couple of games in this series.
and, you know, for all the crap that they get about not giving Shohay runs to work with,
they gave them some runs to work with.
When their 40th game, you feel good about that, second best record in baseball.
You feel real good about that.
You got a good commanding lead in the NOS.
And yeah, five runs, as you mentioned, jumping all over gallon, five runs in those first three innings,
seven scored overall.
I really love that they spread out, they shared the wealth.
It wasn't just one inning.
they moved they moved the ball around a whole lot and also people are going to be happy the Kyle Tucker
haters are going to be happy three hit game including a two run homer to get the offense going there
in the second inning for the Dodgers which it was weird I don't know if you saw it he was showing
bunt to start that frame yeah very very peculiar but you know every time the people try to to kind of
every time they say oh I'm out on this guy you pull me back in sort of thing but man did he need that
entering the game.
I think he was like seven for his last 47, under 150 over the previous two weeks.
Good, good to see the $60 million investment have a nice ball game.
Yeah, I think it's just a matter of time that I think at the end of the season,
everything will even itself out.
But man, you said that the Dodgers have a commanding lead in the NL West,
and you're so right.
I mean, six and a half games, right?
Six and a half games over the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Potteries.
Those two teams tied with identical records of 32 and 28.
But yes, good to see Kyle Tucker kind of get off the Schneide a little bit.
I'll take a two-run, home run after showing bunt early.
It's fine.
I mean, nobody in the ballpark would have expected a bunt from Kyle Tucker.
He didn't end up doing it, but that's the right.
A two-run, home run, is what you expect.
All right.
Let's talk a little bit more about Shohei Otani.
Shohei in the lineup on a start day for the second consecutive time.
But Dave Roberts did say, Clint, he made it very clear.
be on the bench tomorrow. So whatever you needed to do today on this Wednesday show, hey,
empty the tank.
Empty the tank he did. You know, you saw him kind of nibbling at his right middle finger a little
bit. I was talking in my all Dodgers discord. If you guys want to support me there,
check it out. But I'm not going to say the link here because that would be, I mean,
I don't think anybody would care. Regardless of that, you didn't see him throwing a lot of
split finger fastballs early in the game, kind of had some.
some command issues with the curveball as well. And, you know, with where he was biting there,
if you guys are watching and not listening, you know, on that kind of inside of the middle finger there,
that's where you're going to either kind of get a grip to, you know, get a good command and
turn that baseball over your hand with a curveball or with your split finger. You're going to have
it kind of slide through that part of your finger. So if it was feeling a little won't have
notice because the sweeper was still insanely dominant, as it always is. The fastball,
it's, it's fun to watch him just decide when he's going to throw 100 or he's going to throw
97 with ridiculous spin on it. He is just a fun dude to watch. And, you know, this, he keeps
setting some sort of records, Riz. Here we go from Jeff Passon here. ERA lowers to 0.74.
through 10 starts.
That is the lowest ERA in Major League history.
Sorry, sorry.
That is amongst the lowest ERAs in major history.
It's so beautiful to watch him on both sides of the ball.
Six innings, another gem against the D-backs.
Three for four today.
You know, three for four, and he lowers his ERA to 0.74.
He had two walks.
Three for four and two walks.
I mean, it's just unbelievable.
Then, of course, on the other side, six innings just giving up two hits, no earned runs, six strikeouts.
So the man is three for four with two walks and also pitched a six strikeout, six inning game.
I mean, it's just beautiful.
The Dodgers now 40 and 22 on the season.
Again, a beautiful seven to nothing victory over the Diamondbacks in Arizona.
You'll take it every single time.
A couple of other things we wanted to talk about in terms of this game, Clint.
We mentioned jumping on Zach Allen early five.
runs in the first three inning seven overall spreading it out over a course of the course of the
game you talked about that a little bit Alex Freeland top of the seventh a two run single seven nothing
Alex Freeland has really been impressive six for 11 with a double and a home run in his last four games
what have you noticed about him he had three hits today what did you know what have you noticed about
him lately at the plate you're saying a dude who's finally feeling comfortable I think you know obviously
he he opened the season with the ball club out of spring training uh was sent down
a couple of weeks at AAA, found something at AAA was raking down there. But I think the confidence
in knowing that when they called him up, Dave Roberts said, look, bro, you're getting a runway.
This is going to be your opportunity. And it took him a game or two to kind of get his feet
wet again, kind of settled back in. But since you're just seeing really good quality at bats,
he's not, it's, you know, the old cliches, the baseball cliches of staying within himself,
trying not to do too much, just getting, you know, barrel to ball.
and good things will happen.
He's moving the baseball all over the field
and has been a really, really good nine-hole hitter
for this team, and you saw him.
He's getting on base a fair amount,
chips in a couple of runs,
but also scoring for Shohei Otani,
who you mentioned had the three-hit day.
He had, he reached base five times
because that's what Sho-hane does.
He's absolutely,
you ever just really,
you know, I want to make it about Sho-Hag.
I never just really sit back and take in the experience, the Marvel that is Shohayotani,
to hit at an MVP level, something we will never know about, to pitch at a Cy Young caliber
clip.
It's insane.
I think of like a pitcher hitting, the best of the best pitchers.
You think of Clayton Kershaw.
He was so damn good doing it, but you watched him in the batters box.
And I love the future Hall of Famer, but he did not look quite like an athlete in the batters box.
with the stick in his hand.
He wasn't hitterish.
He wasn't hitterish.
And you think about all of the guys, of course, back in the day when pitchers, of course,
in the National League had to hit.
And yeah, they just look awkward, right?
They look like you and I in the box trying to make contact.
I certainly couldn't make contact.
I could not get it out of the infield.
I could.
I could.
No, no.
I look hitterish.
Definitely.
I do not think I could get it out of the infield.
But like Zach Grinky, I mean, you were around in Zach,
covering the Dodgers in the Zankanke era, he was one of the better hitters,
better hitting pitchers in the National League.
And even so, him, it was still very much, you know, knobbed baseball, you're trying to hit,
you're trying to chop a baseball over the gap, over, you know, second base gap or whatever.
Like, he was somebody who maybe, maybe, you know, he was a shortstop growing up and all that kind of stuff.
Maybe he's sort of athlete-ish, hitter-ish.
But then you also think of somebody like Rich Hill, who, our friend, Ross Tripling,
told me you get him in the scrap zone and he's just hoping for the best um listen don't don't
don't forget about our friend babe ryu hengen remember remember that one of the greatest that was still one of
the greatest moments like we all we all had the joy but watching you and nomes just experience
that joy out in the left field pavilion i believe you guys were in that was that was that was a
flip an awesome thing. But to watch Shohei Otani do this where he is arguably the best hitter in
the game, the most complete hitter now hitting back over 300, the OPS is going to creep back up
over 1,000. He is the most complete hitter. And he is also arguably one of, he can be one of the
most dominant pitchers in the game. It is so, so fun to watch this dude operate. My God. Yeah, it's cool.
It's cool to see.
And again, the more innings that he continues to eat up, the more conversation or the more he will be in the conversation, of course, of perhaps winning that Cy Young Award because the only knock on Shohei is just, is he going to have enough innings?
And there is a ton of competition in the national league, Clint, in terms of a starting pitcher that could be in the running for a Cy Young Award.
Obviously, we're talking about the Paul Schienes of the world.
Certainly Christopher Sanchez, whose scoreless inning streak, oral is okay, because it's safe because Christopher
Sanchez had 50 and two-thirds innings of consecutive ball of scoreless innings. So
congratulations to Christopher Sanchez. What a run that he's been on. But I tell you,
Shohay's right there. Jacob Mizorowski with the Milwaukee Brewers is pitching out of his
mind. Harrison, Kyle Harrison with Brewers now, too, pitching out of his mind. So there's a lot
of competition in the National League. There's not any competition in the American League,
especially now that Terek Scoobal is on the shelf with an injury. But Shohei is a beauty to
every single day, whether he's pitching or not, whether he's hitting or not, or whether he's
doing both in the same game. And we're excited about that. All right, you had mentioned, I'm talking
a little bit about the bullpen, Clint, seventh and eighth, clean frange for Jonathan Hernandez,
the only Hernandez that is not on the IL right now. And you bring up a really good point. So
solid, 113 ERA over eight innings. What is he doing well? Because I know you love to break down
pitching. What's funny is he's one of those guys that I, I, I, I, I, you know,
know he is going to be such a short timer that whenever he's pitching, I'm kind of doing something
else. I've honestly not watched him a whole lot. He's going to be one of those guys. He's going to
show up here. It's going to be one of those like, oh, man, I can't believe they're sending this
dude down or they're DFAing this guy after he's been so great over this time. And then he'll go somewhere
else and he'll post like an 8 ERA and then he'll end up with the World Series ring at the end of
the year. But I think what it is, it's what the Dodgers do best is they instill confidence in
people. They, they identify the best pitches, the best quadrants for those players. You've seen it
with Will Klein. We've seen it with Evan Phillips. You know, maybe somebody like E-Philly, you mix in that
sweeper to create a weapon who will be back eventually, by the way, he's set to head out on a rehab
assignment pretty soon, feeling earlier than expected for him. But somebody like Hernandez, he's just
another one of those guys that the Dodgers find. Like I've said it before here on the internet,
on this show like Andrew Friedman, you know him and Brandon Goebes. They love spending the money.
They love going out and getting to show Hey Otani, trading some guys to maybe not the trading guys,
but getting a Tyler Glass now, extending him and all that. But this is where they get off.
Finding the diamonds in the rough people that maybe, maybe pitchers who haven't quite developed
all the way or maybe just didn't really have the best coaching staff or the best game planning coaches
just to have them to maximize the stuff that they have.
And you're seeing that with somebody like Jonathan Hernandez.
You see it like somebody who, you know,
wrap this game up as well in Jack Dreyer.
Like this is a reason.
There's a reason we love Mark Pryor.
There's a reason we love Connor McGinnis and Rob Hill and these type of dudes.
They,
that three-headed dragon of pitching knowledge and,
and just everybody else that goes in between, you know, Pete Montaro doing video stuff and all that,
they are so damn good at what they do and so damn good at maximizing.
I'm not going to say the worst pitchers because I know very little about Jonathan Hernandez.
I think they get the most out of the guy, right?
They don't try to make people who they're not.
I think the Dodgers are really good about allowing the guy to be who he is,
obviously tweaking some things, like wanting to get the most out of the player,
but they don't try to make them somebody that they're not.
And I think that you have to have those guys that are the kind of garbage time mop-up guys, right?
I mean, right before we did, before I watched the Dodger game,
I did unobstructed views on Nesson for the Red Sox and Orioles game.
And Ryan Watson is that guy for the Red Sox, right?
I mean, Peyton Tolly pitched a really good six shutout innings.
Ryan Watson comes in out of the bullpen to eat up a bunch of innings because the Red Soxie,
Red Sox had a decent lead at that time.
And that's kind of what, at least in this situation, Hernandez was, is for the Dodgers
at the time.
But you need, I mean, those are valuable guys.
They're just as valuable as anybody else.
I mean, it takes, it's going to take a lot more, as I've mentioned a billion times, take
a lot more than the 40 man.
So everyone did their job tonight.
Obviously the tone is set with Shohei Otani.
All right.

We'll get back to the box score here before we move on to some other Dodgers conversation of the day.
By the way, guys, tune in tomorrow.
We do have the Bulldog, Oral Hersheiser, joins myself, Alana Rizzo, Katie Wu, and we thinks you're going to like it.
But looking up and down that lineup, another two-hit game here for Freddie Freeman.
Freddie has been on a tear.
We mentioned the three-hit game for Alex Freeland.
You mentioned Otani in there with the three hits.
and get that back. Actually, this is a better screen. Let's go to here.
You know, Andy Pahez gets a double in there. The Homer for Tucker. If we're talking about
one of the things I really like to see is, you know, spreading it out, not just scoring in one run
and not just scoring through the slug and all that. This is a great game in terms of doing a little
bit of everything. And about it. Dodgers win. That's how you win. Put more points on the board.
You and the points. You just love to ruffle the feathers at our chats.
It's like they're not runs.
They're not points.
They're runs.
But I just love, I love the people who have been watching us for like so long who are like,
actually it's runs.
It's like, how many times have we gone over this?
I know.
It's me.
It's me jeffin with you.
That's what I do.
It's what I'm here to do.
It entertains me.
It brings me sustenance.
Anyways.
It does.
Before we say goodbye, I just wanted to really quickly.
reiterate what you and Katie and I talked about with, well, several people, but the bullpen dogs.
Again, doing the job when Edwin Diaz goes out. I mean, I don't think enough can be said about what the
bullpen has done specifically in the absence of Edwin Diaz. I wasn't sure how that was going to work out.
And I tell you, they've been brilliant. So obviously, a tremendous start from Shohei, but a bullpen,
you know, locking it down as well. I don't know if most of you saw. I'm sure that you did because I know
that you guys are paying attention.
But the first All-Star voting has opened in terms of players.
Who are you absolutely certain Clint needs to be there?
Looking at the, okay, so of the players that we can vote for, we can't vote for pitchers as
fans, but of the players that we see here on the screen if you're watching, of course,
all your starters, Freeman, it's funny.
It has some Kim's on there, but that's the guy who was a starting second basement at the time.
You got Moogie beds.
At the time.
Yep.
Max Muncie, Teosker, Hernandez, Andy Potts.
Kyle Tucker, Will Smith,
Shohay Otani. I got three guys. Show Hey, of course.
You're going to have Shoehonti in there.
He will be doing all of the things.
Andy Pahez. If Andy Pahez is not a National League
All-Star this year, I swear to God, I will riot.
I don't know where. I don't know if it will be public.
But I'm not going to be a happy boy. I'll tell you that much.
And another guy, like, I'll go back and then I'm interested in the guys
that you believe really, really need to be on that all-star team.
because we might not see a Will Smith this year.
He's not going to have the counting stats.
You're probably not going to see Mookie Betts now.
Two years running that Mookiee Betts won't be an All-Star.
Maybe Freddie gets in there.
He's turned his season around.
But one guy who's been consistent and also had himself, you know,
an RBI single in today's game, Max Muncie.
Muntz, yeah.
Even if Muntz, you know, was very, apparently very upset at himself in the game,
or before the game hitting BP yesterday,
slam the bat, broke the bat and all that kind of stuff with the frustration.
pouring over. He's still
just such a consistent
rock in that lineup and finding a way to either
get a hit or get a walk, keep the lineup moving. OPS
close to I think 9 or sorry 880 or something like that. I don't have
the numbers in front of me. You'd think I'd put those up. But
he is good. He is good. He's consistent. And I would love
to see Muntz kit his what third All-Star nod. He deserves.
I do believe it would be his
Yeah, for me, you're spot on.
Your choices are absolutely spot on.
Shohay, Avi.
Andy Pahas.
I mean, if there's only two, to me, it's Shohei and Andy.
But yeah, Muncie's the consistent clog in this,
consistent clog in this whole thing.
So I don't know about Freddie.
I don't know that Freddie's had an all-star year.
I mean, certainly not to his, not to his standards either.
You know what I mean?
I mean, he's so upset still that he's not hitting 300.
He wants to end the season at 300.
He's getting there.
He's like, what, 276 now?
So he's, you know, he's getting there.
But I don't think he's having an all-star.
year. And I think it's important that, you know, and Freddie's been to enough and he's a veteran
player. He's a future Hall of Famer, first ballot hall of famer. I think Freddie, and I would tell
Freddie this to his face. You know, I don't, I don't think Freddie thinks he's an all-star
this year. So, but yeah, Muncie, Pahez, and Shohay, for certain are incredibly deserving.
And who knows what happens by the all-star game? But of course, the names on there are who was the
starting person at that spot to open the season? And that is why Hassan,
Kim is up.
Pride is like love.
You feel it in your heart.

Hey, it's us, the Jonas Brothers, and guess what?
We have some big news.
What's the news, name?
Huge news.
We created our own podcast called, Hey Jonas.
We invented a podcast?
Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it.
We're just a first people to do podcasts.
Pretty, yeah, pretty wide range of podcasts throughout there.
But this one's extra special.
So how do we actually come up with a name, Hey Jonas, guys?
I honestly don't remember.
I think it was on a call about what we should call it.
And we were thinking I'm originally calling it one of the early names of our band before Jonas Brothers.
This is how you guys remember it going down?
Yes.
I have a very different memory of this.
We were talking about a thing, a bit for the podcast, where people could call in and say, hey, Jonas.
And then I wrote down on my little notepad, Hey Jonas, and offered it up as a potential title for the podcast.
But thanks for remembering that, guys.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your
podcast. Just listen. We don't care where you hear it.
What's up, fam? It's Isaiah Thomas. And I'm C.J. Toledano, and our podcast Point Game is about
Defying the Odds. Like LeBron heading into the playoffs without Luca and Austin Reed.
And finding ways to win no matter what. He's the smartest player to ever play the game.
His IQ is at a level that we've never seen before. And he knows. Without Luca and Austin
Reeves, I got to manipulate the game. We get a player's perspective on the challenges of the
playoffs. I think Joker's going to be exhausted this series because when they don't have Rudy in the
lineup, he has to really guard guys like Nas Reid. He has to guard Julius Randall. And then he has to
give us everything he gives us on the night-to-night basis on offense. And when IT's friends stop by,
like Quentin Richardson, we dive into some playoff history too. Steve Nash will get that thing.
That man, hell get the flying. He run up the court, licking his fingers, why he got the bar. Like,
after you go through a training camp with that, Isaiah, you figure it.
out real quick. Get your ass up and down the court and you're going to get the ball. So listen to Point Game on the
iHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, Gavin Stone Update.
What are you hearing about this? Reading between the lines. Doesn't sound great, Clint.
Does not sound great. And this is what I've been anticipating. Nobody has wanted to ask about Gavin
Stone, where he's at. And his recovery, of course, had the shoulder surgery, made
one start during spring training felt good, look good, and then felt bad. The day afterwards
has been shut down since. And of course, the Dodgers in Arizona, that gives them a chance to
see some old friends, familiar faces coming over from Camelback Ranch. And Dave Roberts gave
a not good update when we're talking about Dave here and how he would speak. But this is the
quote on Gavin Stone. He's one that I'm really bummed about. I think his makeup is off the charts.
good, compete.
Right now, his body's just letting him down a little bit.
All of our bodies are for real, but there's nothing else he can do when he ramps it up.
It just sort of shows itself again.
So right now I'm not sure exactly where he's at in this progression.
And if you guys have been watching me, we talked about it a lot more on my other show,
the All Dodger Show.
We are weeks away from the tweet that says Gavin Stone is undergoing season ending.
surgery of some kind and it sucks. It's terrible. I think there's just something going on in there. And
clearly if he keeps re-agravating something or if something just can't, you know, he can't get
over the hump, whether it's scar tissue or whether it's further damage, I had heard shortly after
from a source after the injury that it's much, much worse than the Dodgers were letting on. They were
hopeful that a little bit of rest and, you know, some injections in there would bring down the
inflammation, he would be okay. I don't think Gavin Stone's going to be okay. Um, so that's,
that is that is tough. Yeah, it's a bummer. I mean, right, right shoulder inflammation, right?
I mean, it started, um, he's, he continues to be sidelined from that. It began after his first
cactus league start early in the season. I mean, this has been something that's been going on for a
really long time. So yeah, I mean, the Dodgers are usually pretty coy about their injuries. I mean,
we went from, you know, Tyler Glass now is not going to need an I else into, well, who knows when
Tyler Glazno's coming back. So, I mean, that's just their way. And that's the
okay and they don't need to they don't need to share everything with us they're obviously doing
something right um but yeah it sucks it sucks for gavinstone um he was so good for this team
i feel badly for him yeah and what 2024 i mean we're talking about him being a potential all
star at that point and now it looks like he's another one of those guys where you know injury
could derail his career hopefully it's something minor or hopefully there's just one of those
days and we've seen it happen as well uh where something just kind of changes you go out
there you do your work and then suddenly the next day it doesn't hurt i'm 40 now it always hurts
the next day he is still young i'm a man i'm a fort i'm 40 um but this is why i quickly for the people
who are saying oh yeah trade somebody like river ryan for a terrick scubel which listen
detroit tigers aren't trading terrick scubal and other teams need him a lot more are willing to
give up a lot more but river ryan is kind of the only legitimate starter on the 40 man
roster in the organization that is ready to plug in play in that rotation right now if there
is another injury.
Another injury.
Yeah.
That's just the thing.
Anyways.
You can never have enough pitching depth.
Really quickly, Bobby Miller ramping back up, shoulder and back issues have sideline
him to this point.
Bill Plunkett, friend of the show, we just saw his quote about date, you know what Dave had
said, but they are the forgotten men of the 40 man roster stashed on the 60 day aisle and
relegated to rehabbing at Camelback Ranch.
No one has been forgotten more than Bobby Miller,
once a top Dodgers prospect now,
trying to recover from shoulder and back issues.
So, yeah, I mean, he's not coming back
anytime soon. So it's a bummer, but
that's why I said you can never have too much
starting pitching. We went from where are we
going to fit all these guys to please nobody
else go on the IL because then it will be River
Ryan. And again, no disrespect to
him, but River Ryan is not Blake Snell.
River Ryan is not Tyler Glass now,
you know, so River Ryan's
not Gavin Stone. I mean, let's be
honest. On the final thing I'll say about this is thank God, Roki Sasaki's finding something
because we would be in a world to hurt. Eric Lauer's been solid in his two, his two appearances,
his two stars. But if Roki Sasaki wasn't start hadn't found something, Emmachian's been a little
bit better, of course. If those two guys hadn't found something, we'd be in a world of hurt right
now. But right now, the Dodgers are not in a world of hurt. They have the second best record
in all of baseball, sitting pretty in the NL. West. You might fall back on
hard times, but enjoy the good times right now while we can.
I'll hit the music and we'll remind you guys, the Bulldog joins us tomorrow.

Hey, guys, it's us. The Jonas Brothers. I'm Joe. I'm Kevin. And I'm Nick. And guess what?
We created our own podcast called, Hey, Jonas. We invented a podcast. Well, we didn't invent it.
We just contributed to it. We're the first people to do podcasts. We get to ask other
people questions because we're sick and tired of being asked questions.
Well, sick and tired is a strong way to put it, but, you know, tired and sick.
Tired and sick.
Listen to Hey Jonas on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Just listen.
We don't care where you hear it.
It's that time to put on your jersey and wave your flag, whoever you root for.
Why do I watch the walk up?
That's like asking me, why do I breed?
And it's beautiful.
The guys are young and cute and fat.
It's not just a game.
It's your culture.
I like watching it with my dad.
It's a connecting force.
From Futuro Studios, I'm Fernanda Chavari, and this is American Football, a show about soccer culture in the U.S. and its underdog roots.
