Starting point is 00:00:00 Kentucky can count on bourbon, basketball, and 975. WAMZ, Kentucky, Annas's number one for country. Hey, it's Rachel Elliott, and we never take for granted that you make us part of your day. That's why we make it a point to play your favorite country. Whether you're starting your day off with the Bobby Bones show, making your workday go a little faster by hanging out with me on the job, or dealing with that Gene Snyder traffic on the ride home with Corey Calhoun, you can count on us for the best country music in Kentucky. In Louisville, you can catch us on the radio dial at 975 and anywhere on the Iheart radio app. You know, they could throw as many dudes as they want in that bullpen in that postseason bullpen. There's going to be 11 relievers on that roster.
Starting point is 00:00:37 If you trust two of them, you're not going to have a good time. Look at my face. Look at this face. Look at this face. Look at your face. While I love your face, I hate your face right now. Thank you. Stupid face.
Starting point is 00:01:06 I was born with it. Hello, everybody. And welcome to Dodgers Territory. This is Alonarizzo and Clint Paseas. Clint just put an entire rundown together that absolutely is of no value right now. He did all of that work. Absolutely no reason. I hate post games.
Starting point is 00:01:21 What on earth? What on earth? The bullpen's bad. Guys, the bullpen is bad. I don't, you can't sugarcoat it. You can't hide from it. This bullpen is broken. They are mentally broken.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Gill says same old song, ridiculous guys. Sound off in the comments. Let us know how you're feeling about this game. We're all set for a happy post game. I mean, Shohei shoved and we'll eventually talk, Shohei Otani. The offense did enough. But then they had to somehow record nine outs. And the Dodgers bullpen served up five runs and lose the ballgame.
Starting point is 00:02:03 It's embarrassing. It's embarrassing. It's embarrassing and it's insanity. Thank you guys for being here sincerely, truly. We love it that you're here like us, Great as five stars. Please. Thanks.
Starting point is 00:02:15 Honestly, thanks for being here. It's, it's, it's, we do this for us, but we do it for you guys too. And we want to hear what you have to say in the chat. But I just thought, hang on a second. I just saw a comment in our chat that said stop motion, hooray. Scott is a choker. How hard is it to tell him not to walk? I mean, obviously, guys, he's not trying to walk players.
Starting point is 00:02:35 But there was another comment in here that I just saw. Basically like, oh, here it is, stop motion. Do you guys really believe that this team can win without a bullpen? No. No. Stop motion. Hooray. I don't. I don't think this team can win without a bullpen. There's not a team on the planet that can win without a bullpen. And this is a team right now that the bullpen, my word, like honest to goodness, like even when we were up, I believe four to three, correct? Like in the eighth inning, bottom of the ninth inning, and I was
Starting point is 00:03:05 walking from my couch, which is right over there, into my office, which is 14 feet. And I get here and I sit down and you're like, oh, great. And I'm like, what? And you're like, Tanner Scott just walked the first batter of the inning. I said, say what? And you said, say, hey, and then he hit the dude. And then they tied it and then they won the game. And this was all in a matter of moments. And I just, it happened fast. And I so desperately, I so desperately want to believe in Tanner Scott. Hi, Scott. That's our boss. This is not nice. I'm right here. Yeah, you know what? The Mets stink too, Scott. But the thing is it's like, I just, I don't, you guys, I can't, I can't believe in this bullpen right now. And I don't, I want to believe in Tanner Scott. I do. And we had Dalton rushing on the show
Starting point is 00:03:52 yesterday, yesterday. And he, and he brought up a good point that recently Tanner Scott has been better. It's been Blake Trinan that has really scuffled. The last five losses have all been credited to Blake, but I did not feel comfortable. We lost you, we lost me. There we go. I can still hear myself. I'm just frozen. I did not feel comfortable with Tanner coming out of the bullpen on the road with the one-run lead.
Starting point is 00:04:24 And I shouldn't feel that way. Yeah, you know what's funny is I actually had confidence in Tanner Scott in this game. I thought this would be the one. I figured the guys who had been good, and we see the super chats coming in. Don't worry, guys. We're going to get to you very shortly. I don't think you could do that on YouTube. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:04:43 But I actually had confidence because the other guys kind of sucked their own loads of butts. Vescia was the only guy who put up a scoreless inning, but it was a hell of a tightrope walk. Jack Dreyer, who has been nails for the majority of the season, gives up a couple of runs, only gets two outs. Edgaro Henriquez with the Homer, one of those runs. There was a runner on base, one of those. attributed to Jack Dreyer and um wait what are we drinking riz what what is that because i'm in oh this is just a lamarca perseco well this is that bottle that you sent me so cheers oh yay cheers i'm classy guys the bullpen guys hit that thumbs up please that the bullpen makes you drink
Starting point is 00:05:23 because yeah um we were talking to um to boss man producer uh mark wener before the show is like how do you how do you win um a world series with a bullpen like this every team has their their woes, their issues, their struggles. Let me put the chat on the screen here as well. You can't win a World Series with the bullpen that we are seeing. No. You can't. You can't.
Starting point is 00:05:50 And I hate to say that, but you can't. It's like, it's not, guys, it's not rocket science, right? And I know that I'm not saying these guys aren't trying. I'm not saying that they don't care. I'm not saying any of that. But the production and the results are not there. You should be able to go into Arizona. Again, no disrespect against the Diamondbacks,
Starting point is 00:06:10 but you should be able to go into Arizona with the lineup that you have with Shohei Otani on the Hill and close out a four to three. You don't think the postseason is going to be close. You don't think the postseason games are going to be one run, two run games. I mean, do we have to score 10 runs a night? I had a conversation with my friend Jill Painter Lopez, who has covered the Dodgers, who's been on our shows before. for a long time journalist in Los Angeles.
Starting point is 00:06:36 I was just talking to her. She was watching the game at home in California in L.A. And I was watching it here, obviously. And I'm like, do we, I don't feel comfortable unless, unless we have a five run lead. That should not be how I feel. You need more. It really feels like you need more right now. But a one run lead is, I just, I was like, oh, mercy.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Oh, gosh. Oh, goodness. Oh, dear. Like, it's like Alfonso is saying it's so stressful. It is stressful. I'm sorry. It is stressful. I don't like it. Let's see. Where is that? Oh, yeah, there it is. Roberts is so stressful. So people. I don't think Roberts is stressful. I've seen a few people. I even saw Scotty,
Starting point is 00:07:17 Scottie Braun defending some people. The runner on seconds says those blaming Dave, literally everybody is bad. This is not on Dave Roberts. He's not the guy who was going out there. He's not the one giving up the runs. Yeah. Who else is he going to go to? They spent a lot of money to bring in, to bring back Blake Trinan, to bring in Kirby Yates and Tanner Scott. These are guys that are just not performing up to their capabilities. And yeah, it wasn't Tanner Scott tonight. It wasn't, sorry, it wasn't Blake Trinan or Kirby Yates tonight. It was Tanner Scott once again, who, yes, he has been better in recent vintage.
Starting point is 00:07:52 But, you know, you invest all this money, all this time in the offseason to put together your best version of a ball club that is going to go out there and try to be the first ball club to go back to back in World Series wins since them 99, 2,000 Yankees. And they just, by the way, clinched a postseason birth today. Congratulations. Ah, Yankees. Yeah, congratulations to Derek Lewandowski on Pinstrype territory. His boys are in the in the postseason.
Starting point is 00:08:19 I didn't think they were going to be two weeks ago, but so much has changed in two weeks. Let's do this. I want to get to some of our chat here. Noah Ortega with the 199 super chats as Andrew Friedman and the, The front office are relying on hope over results to a degree. But again, who else are you going to put out there? That's the thing. Kershaw was in the bullpen.
Starting point is 00:08:42 That's the biggest question. He was in the bullpen tonight for whatever that will do for anybody. But then all of a sudden, Kershaw enters this game, pitching in relief in the regular season for the first time since, like, I don't know, 2014, 2015. He blows the game and everybody's going to be losing their shit after that as well. No, you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't. I mean, Kershaw basically, it's like a bullpen session
Starting point is 00:09:06 facing live hitters to get ready for the postseason. That is what it is. I mean, Kershaw is obviously not going to be, I say obviously, I don't believe that Kershaw will be one of the starters in the first three games in the wild card if they need three games. However, you know, he, I just, I don't, I don't even know what to say. Hi, Diane.
Starting point is 00:09:28 One of our longtime listeners should have brought in Kershaw rather than Scott. But no. Grizzly also saying Shohei should just win all nine. Well, they are letting him go deeper. They are letting him go longer. So that's a good thing. And Shohei did really, you know what's so funny too about Shoah?
Starting point is 00:09:43 It's just, I don't know if it's just show hey or if it's just the Japanese culture. And I don't remember who was running. But when Shohei basically made that long, like, arm tag when the guy was like kind of running outside of the lane and he kind of hit him on the way to first base. And he was like, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Are you okay? I'm so sorry. Are you okay? He's so respectful. It's super, super cute. But that is a positive. Shohei is a positive in this game, and we will absolutely get to that. Let's talk about that momentarily after a quick word.
Starting point is 00:10:13 We'll be right back. Ft, fam, it's still time for you to check out what bathing suit you're wearing and why it's not Fair Harbor. Can we get a little show and tell from Eric Crats? Nice. I mean, unfortunately, you can't even see all the little. intricacies, we got sharks, we got patterns, we got waves, we got sailboats. Oh, and they feel super buttery on your skin. Can you show us the liner so people can understand how it's different?
Starting point is 00:10:45 Because I've actually been talking it up. I was just on vacation. I got the unique liner too. I got the I got the baby blue John. Something about it. I don't know. It like it pops. head to fair harbor clothing.com slash foul 20 and use code foul 20 foul 20 for 20% off your order. Once again, that's fair, H-A-R-B-O-R-Cloathing.com, backslash foul 20 for 20% off. Make sure you use that promo code foul 20 so they know F-T sent you. We appreciate you guys very much, Fair Harbor. Guys, support those that support us in our show, check out Fair Harbor. And also to check out Dodgers Territory Shop.com to support us.
Starting point is 00:11:27 here let's talk we have a lot of stuff to talk about some of it is very positive too by but yes you can scan that code you can also go to dodgers territory shop i have the hoodie like the long sleeve hoodie legit love it like i have a lot of like dodgers gear i do obby um wearing the hat right now are like our long sleeve hoodie i absolutely love it i love the the weight i love all the things um let's go to the super chats we have a lot of them we want to get you guys in here uh don't care 187 super chat two dollars from don't care one eight seven we're out of can't be fixed first round exit i do not think it's a first round exit but i do agree that something has to like something's got it's not a it's the thing is it's like for me it's not a spark
Starting point is 00:12:09 it's not like these guys are going out there like ho hum we don't care we're trying to throw balls we're not trying to you know we're not i just don't think that i just did let me ask you this does tanner scott have the yips no is that possible for a pitcher i i i mean yeah I can think back to very prominently Hung Chi Kuo back in the good old days of your. It's not a yip situation. It's just he's thrown some pretty hitable pitches. And it feels to be one of those, you know, our buddy Richie Flores who just left a super chat. He likes to pop into my All Dodgers show a lot, leave voicemails, talking about mental toughness.
Starting point is 00:12:52 I mean, it's mental toughness for Tanner Scott to keep going out there and trying to perform his job. with the struggle and the animosity the poor dude has right now you do feel for him but there's just something i i they've explored whether or not he's tipping his pitches it's just it's something not even in here i mean it's both it's in here and in the heart wherever the heart is i don't have one but there is something in there i don't think i don't think it's the heart i think it's the head i don't think i never broken heart breaking the head or broken broken heart maybe but i don't think it's like I don't think it's a lack of heart I mean there's very few players I've covered in 20 plus years of covering professional athletes that I'm like this guy just doesn't give shit this guy just
Starting point is 00:13:35 doesn't care that is not Tanner Scott Tanner Scott cares Tanner Scott we remember when mookie was like I'm just going to let it go let it go let it go that was Tanner Scott the other day when he was like I'm having the worst year of my life he cares but the results aren't there and that's a problem. You can't go into the postseason trying to figure it out. Like this is it. Like this, the season ends on Sunday. This is it. The Padres won tonight. Dodgers still haven't even locked up the division. Yeah, game and a half lead right now in the NOS and it keeps getting tighter and tighter. You really thought that the NOS was going to feel like a foregone conclusion. It's five games left. Still a lot of baseball to be played. But even, you know, does locking up a division make us feel better about
Starting point is 00:14:24 this team's chances in October and seeing, you know, they could throw as many dudes as they want in that bullpen in that postseason bullpen, this chance on that wildcard series. There's going to be 11 relievers on that roster. If you trust two of them, you're not going to have a good time. Straight up. All right. Let me ask you this, not to put you on the spot. Certainly not.
Starting point is 00:14:45 Just having a conversation. We're just, you know, kicking the tires here on a couple of things. Out of the bullpen right now, who do you trust the most? let's say that person could throw every inning who do you trust the most well you're saying at the bullpen right now right like like like so I can't say Emmett Sheehan who will be in the bullpen he's not he's not in the bullpen right now Alex Vescia Ves is a dog we know that um his wife needs to have that kid already so it doesn't affect the
Starting point is 00:15:14 the postseason by the way that's a whole other about your post your postseason yeah oh yeah because you I mean if you have one guy you trust. Edgarardo Henriquez was becoming one of those dudes to say just not a great outing. Jack Dreyer is kind of one of those dudes. But I mean, to enter the postseason with, you know, a rookie lefty kind of being one of your dudes, you might not feel exceptional about it as well. Yeah, to the question, it's really hard.
Starting point is 00:15:40 It is really hard to find these people. It might just be Vescia, who's the only guy who didn't allow a run out of the bullpen tonight? Tough. Francisco with the 499 Superchat earlier. It says you can't even win the NOS with a bullpen like this, let alone a World Series. Appreciate the Super Chat from Francisco. He's dropped a couple on us tonight.
Starting point is 00:16:04 All right. Let me ask you, though. No, I know. Okay. You do you first. No, no, I'm sorry. Do you guys have your bags pack for Chicago? Because if you don't, no need to worry.
Starting point is 00:16:15 The daughter's bullpen will do it for you. Divisions living away. All right, come on. Here's the thing. Cole has a super chat, $5 super chat from Cole. I only see one path to win. three starters with three starters picking out of the bullpen. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:29 Piggy backing. I mean, maybe. I mean, honestly, like, once the postseason starts, you do whatever you need to do to win that day. Like, it doesn't, like, you can't, you don't, you're not afforded the opportunity to have, like, any sort of, like, future outlook. Like, you have to win today. So maybe that's what they do. I mean, I don't think they're going to have, you know, Snell and Glasnow and Yamamoto start. And then, you know, she and hers.
Starting point is 00:16:53 Snell is one of the guys. Snell and Yamamoto, those are guys that you can absolutely send out there for six or seven innings. But maybe Shohay is piggybacked by Shee or is piggybacked by Kershaw or something like that where you're able to knock down five and then maybe three or four innings. But as of right now, this team does not have a closer. And that is scary, frightening, a concern. We've seen teams win without a closer in the past. I think it's problematic. It's problematic. It's problematic.
Starting point is 00:17:25 And I said the same thing about when I found out Will Smith was down for the rest of the reggae suit. That's problematic. Although I have to say that Ben Rort, Benny Rowe did great. Dalton, I feel better about that. So I do feel better about our catching situation than I did two weeks ago. Yeah. All right. Should we talk positives because?
Starting point is 00:17:45 Well, we have. Let's have our super chats. Hang on. Let me ask you this. Is Tanner Scott on? the postseason roster? I think today is the day that Dave finally puts some doubt into that. I really think that's currently happening right now.
Starting point is 00:18:05 He's speaking with reporters most likely now or a minute ago or whatever, haven't seen anything come up from the beat writers. I just don't see how you can have both Tanner Scott and Blake Trinan with all of their struggles and then potentially Kirby Yates. That's too many question marks. On a season where we have lived with so many question marks and waited for so many ifs to figure themselves out. Riz, a lot of them have.
Starting point is 00:18:33 Mookie figured himself. I don't know. Who do you replace them with? You can't get rid of Yates, Scott, and who was your third one? I don't even remember anymore. I don't know. Blake Traylon. You can't get rid of all three of them.
Starting point is 00:18:49 I mean, you can find a way. You certainly can find a way. Hey, you got you. Who's going to do it? Roki Sasaki is going to be back with the team tomorrow. He hasn't touched in six years and he's going to come down from space. We don't even know where fucking Roki Sasaki's been. Dodgers are likely going to activate Roki Sasaki tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:19:05 He'll pitch out of the bullpen in a TBD role. Yeah, TBD, like, are you even human? Brock Stewart is day to day. So you're going to have beef do it. He's pitched for, what, one game before he got hurt and put on the IL? And was honestly pretty well. That's who you're hanging. I mean, that is one guy.
Starting point is 00:19:24 You know one dude, I honestly would, I would honestly love to see Kyle Hurt get an opportunity for this team. And he has pitched even less. We're not talking about a cup of coffee, coffee for his big league level or big league career. It's an espresso. It is, it is a micro amount of, of, it's called a Cafesito or a Cortado. Mom is. I don't know. Somebody else is kind of where I'm at.
Starting point is 00:19:54 You need some people that can get the job done. Right now, I love to say good players, living players. All of these three dudes in particular are living players. They are not good players right now. And I can't imagine Tanner Scott having any sort of like mental faculties about himself left to get the job done. Maybe, I don't know, maybe there's something different about the calendar flipping to October and everybody has a zero ERA, although the postseason will start for the Dodgers on September 30th. It's tough question. We don't get to answer it.
Starting point is 00:20:30 You're right, though. You're right, though, because I do feel like every time Tanner comes out of the bullpen, I do hope that this is like the outing that increases, like, his confidence is here, right? I always hope that this is going to be the outing that helps elevate the confidence. And he gets back to where he's supposed to be. It gets back to the point in which he was performing at the level as to why they signed him to what they did to begin with. And I just feel like he just seems so defeated. And I hate that for him. I hate that for him.
Starting point is 00:21:00 I see the comment from Mario says bring back answer, Alberto. And there's a little bit of less. Hey, we just saw Russell Martin. He posted a zero. the way, I've not seen, I've not seen this many comments in our chat ever. Like, this is, I can't even read them. Like, this is insane. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:16 This is one of those shit losing kind of games, one of those shit losing kind of losses. Tim with the $2 super chat earlier says Tanner Scott won't be on the postseason roster. It's hard to disagree with that. We got $999 for Ritchie Flores. How does this keep happening? How many times does Tanner Scott need to pee on our cornflakes? Before we understand, he can't be trusted. the NOS is still in play for San Diego.
Starting point is 00:21:39 Fuck around, find out. That's kind of where we're at right now in this NOS battle. We had our first super chat of the day, whatever. We don't want to just read super chats, but we appreciate the support everybody a whole bunch, but 300 GJW saying, inexcusable, hit by pitch, walk to start the inning. And in reverse order, but yes. Like, yeah, I mean, yeah, it stinks. You can't do that.
Starting point is 00:22:04 It stinks. But let's talk about some positive. positives. Shohei. Showe was great tonight. And they are going to extend him. They're allowing him to go a little bit deeper than five innings. Fabi and Ardaya does a great job with the athletic. He's a friend of the show has come on a multitude of times. Shohei Otani's 90th pitch of the inning hit 99.8 miles per hour. His 91st got him through six sittings for the first time as a Dodger. God, I forget. I forget that this is his first season as a Dodger pitcher. You know, it's like I feel like there's part of me that feels like he's been here. here forever. Yeah, so three nothing Dodgers at the time. Well, I didn't work out so well. And then yeah, the other part of it there, yeah, go ahead. Dave Robert said today you could be willing to push Joe Hey, O-Ton. Yeah, this was earlier today. Oh, no, this was like an hour ago. Um, no, this was yesterday. This was yesterday. 24 hours ago. That's a byproduct of several conversations on how
Starting point is 00:22:58 Otani has been feeling during his buildup. Yeah, I mean, Otani is phenomenal. It is, it is what it is. And he's going to have, obviously, this is like the dumbest thing I've ever said. he's going to have a significant role in the postseason, clearly. But I don't know. I see in your very hardworking rundown here, is he our game one starter? I mean, that appears to be some sort of conversation that could be in the mix. Of course. Is that just because of the timing in terms of the line, like the way that they're lined up?
Starting point is 00:23:28 One week from today is game one of the wild card series. Tomorrow, Blake Snell pitches. after that, it's Yoshinobu Yamamoto. Dave did some vintage Daveism. Of course, DodgerBlue.com did the transcription here for us, but they don't know, gives us some option. The likelihood of him starting a playoff game is very high. Yeah, he is going to be one of the three guys to start a postseason game. I had him in, sorry, in the wild card series.
Starting point is 00:23:56 If it goes to three, and my order is Snell, Yamamoto, Otani. I also do not hate an Otani game one. But the thing is, he can't go nine. And that, in that scenario would be Glasnow's now. Which, oh, no, you have another ace to go out there. I mean, if this team, if this bullpen finds a way to fuck around and waste this starting rotation and waste 22's final season, his final postseason, not going to be a happy boy. I'm actually going to be a sad boy.
Starting point is 00:24:30 I'm not going to be a mad boy. I'm going to be mad too. Yeah. You guys, either somebody needs to jump off the chat or jump on the chat because we're at 666 right now. Keep it there. I don't know. Oh, I just lost six people. Damn, come back.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Sorry. Can't tell him to leave, Riz. I don't, I don't, I don't know about, I don't know about this. I don't know about how I feel. Yeah, no. I mean, I don't. It's a very, very good. The bullpen's not trying to blow the starters.
Starting point is 00:25:09 But here's what I'm, no, no, no, that was terrible. The bullpen is not trying to blow having amazing starters. I apologize for that. Seriously. But what I would love is if the starters could, like, go back in the day and go at least six, six full. Seven would be amazing. They've been doing that. But then you just have.
Starting point is 00:25:36 have, but they can now. Yamamoto went eight and two thirds and they lost that game. Well, don't let facts get in the way of my dream. Hey, how about we do this? We have another break. We have another break. Guys, let us take one more quick break. Please stick with us. We're going to keep hanging out here with people. We're here to vent. We're here to, I don't know, maybe figure some things out, but we will be right back. Todd, father, you and me grew up in Jersey. We liked to collect. cards, but the way the process got was ridiculous. You open up a pack. There's a bunch of cards you don't care about. Then you want to get certain ones graded. It takes forever, right? Then you want to
Starting point is 00:26:18 maybe sell one. It's such a to do. Arena Club has been the solution for us. Arena Club has been a solution for everybody. You go online, go to Arena Club, and you check out what they have, put a little cash down, you might get one of the best cards that you've ever seen in your life, an autographed card. And guess what? If you don't like the card, easily, you could sell it back and make a little cash. You never know what to expect. It's a cool way of doing it. You're going to get a surprise every time. And if you're in the cards, this is something you really need to get into. Right now, you can get 20% off your first slab pack or card purchase by going to arena club.com slash foul and use code foul like Todd father's talking about with those slap packs. Every pack has a grail. That's at least 20x the price
Starting point is 00:27:01 of the pack. Check it out. All right. We're looking for some positives from this game. We can look at the offense just a little bit. Let's talk about the legend of Benny Roertvet. Got the FT boost today, the FT bump, if you didn't see that, goes yard for the first time in a Dodger uniform, solo shot in the seventh that looked like it could have maybe been the one. The one run the team needed to hang on and win it.
Starting point is 00:27:26 Caught six more scoreless innings from Shohei Otani. I don't know why he called so many bad pitches for the bullpen, But I digress on that. I'm sure it was Benny Rose fault, putting down the wrong fingers or pushing the wrong button on the pitchcom, right? So that was cool. I liked seeing Ben Roitfitt succeed, getting an opportunity to watch him on FT today. I thought that was pretty cool. If you guys missed it, go check it out.
Starting point is 00:27:54 That was a fun interview. Also, his thoughts on the ABS system, which was announced as coming to Major League Baseball for next year. The other thing, Teoscar Hernandez, he has been another dude who, who has been hot and cold, yes and no, in and out, up and down. He had himself a nice little game, 25th Homer of the year, had a triple three RBIs on the night. And this is his fifth consecutive year with 25 bombs on the campaign. I mean, he's had a lot of down this year.
Starting point is 00:28:21 I mean, he's had a lot of down. He's never been the same this season anyway since coming off of the IL. But this was great to see and the emotion was great to see. And he had, you know, the home run and the triple, right? was really in key times of the game. And it was great to see that and the emotion was amazing. I say amazing. Like that's a bit of a crazy superlative.
Starting point is 00:28:45 But it was good to see. It was good to see. So the offense I have no issue with. I'm not nearly as concerned about our catching situation as I was a couple of weeks ago. Yeah. So that's good. Of course, I want Will for the postseason. But I do feel, I do have confidence in Ben Roart vet.
Starting point is 00:29:03 everybody knows how to say his name now. And obviously Dalton rushing. Yeah. Yeah. It's going to be the bullpen. And this is something we've talked about for some time. And, you know, keep beating this very dead horse, the fact that they didn't do as much at the trade deadline. You know, the Phillies went out and got Yohan Duran and the Dodgers got Brock Stewart.
Starting point is 00:29:28 That's tough. That's tough. And again, I mentioned earlier a lot of all of. the ifs that we were hoping would figure themselves out. A lot of them have. This one has not. Irvine Cattle Ranch earlier in the chat, 499, saying when you do the same thing, expecting a different result, you are Dave Roberts.
Starting point is 00:29:48 I will defend Dave in this one again, just because he has no other options for one. There are no other options. Yeah. You need, and you also need to know if these guys are going to be able to get you through a postseason. I would rather know that Tanner Scott officially blessed you can put it on the board. Yes, that he sucks now before the start of the postseason rather than, all right, let's hope he can close out.
Starting point is 00:30:13 Game two of the Wild Card Series. Let me know that now. Let me know that now. Grayson, with a positive perspective, 199, earlier in the chat. What are the odds the bullpen just clicks in October? I hope so. What sense do you have? I hope so.
Starting point is 00:30:33 I mean, at some point, but here's my question with that, Grayson, and I appreciate the positivity. I do. I'm with you. I would love that. But baseball is on a sport where you can flip the switch. It's just not. And we've talked about this at length. It's not a sport where it always tends to be a sport with whoever is playing hot at the right time and who is healthy at the right time.
Starting point is 00:30:54 But it almost seems like that is just an organic, I don't know what the word is, but like an organic. Not possibility. It just happened organic. Organic switch flip. No, no, no, no. It just happens that way. It's not something that you can say, hey, guys, it's September 24th. Let's win the division.
Starting point is 00:31:16 Flip the switch. Or, hey, guys, the postseason has started. Now let's really start playing well. It doesn't work that way in baseball. It just does. Okay, for example, two weeks ago, the Detroit Tigers were leading the NL Central by 11 games. The Guardians of Cleveland were out of the division title 11 games. Today, September 24th, two weeks later, the guardians are tied with the Tigers for the division
Starting point is 00:31:49 lead in the AL Central. The Tigers may miss the postseason. That's what I'm talking about. It wasn't like the guardians were like, hey, everybody, let's just flip the switch. Now it's time to do it. And the guardians or the tigers are like, me, we don't care. We'll figure it out. It doesn't work that way. So as much as I would love the bullpen to just figure it out in October, yes, but I don't know that that's a possibility.
Starting point is 00:32:13 There is something to a team like Cleveland just not needing to give a shit anymore. And one win starts a winning streak and then you keep winning and then you keep rattling them off and at the same time, Detroit just spiraled, much like the Mets did and
Starting point is 00:32:31 have um yeah i think detroit's worse detroit's work i mean the guardians do have the tiebreaker over the tigers which is also problematic for detroit i think the tigers is worse because they had a massive division lead whereas the meds have not had that much of a lead in the n lees and everyone wants to we talked about this yesterday you and i yeah on our thought for the road the meds have a massive payroll that guarantees good players it doesn't guarantee good it doesn't guaranteed wins. Yeah. Speaking of the Mets, Scotty,
Starting point is 00:33:01 Scottie Braun helping us out here with some bullpen ideas, of course, saying they're going to piggyback. Kirshan and Sheen are going to pitch a lot. They can win two wildcard games with five starting pitchers piggybacking if they really wanted. Yeah, you just got to get out of that first round and then kind of reset, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:20 still at some point, you're going to need to have guys like Tanner Scott give you something, guys like Blake Trinon in that. I really don't think Dave will pull the ripcourt on just because of how important he was to this organization and that bullpen and that success we saw last year. Somebody's a need to step up. They need to step up big time. I have a shit ton of faith in Emmett Sheehan taken down big, massive, important innings for this ball club in some sort of relief role. Is your Emmett Sheehan of 2025, your Brett Honeywell of 2024?
Starting point is 00:33:55 for. Don't you dare. Brent Honeywell. Brent Honeywell was like a, he was like a puppy. Like if the puppy's not going to win you a ball game, but you're like, oh, like, drinking out with us, buddy,
Starting point is 00:34:08 you're such a good boy. He has some decent outs. And by the way, as long as the puppy is adopted, I'm all for it. I mean, he had some, he had some decent outs. He was big last year, Brent Honeywell.
Starting point is 00:34:19 To a degree. I mean, his, his heroics, well you're talking about last year just specifically in the in the postseason because his heroics and his legendary status in that clubhouse kind of came from him being a whipping boy kind of him from being him being the practice girl for the other team when they were all right this game is done let's try to get us through tomorrow I don't know I'm just kind of going off of what
Starting point is 00:34:45 max muncie said in the postseason celebrated now if you're talking about talking about what he brought to that clubhouse that is a different story and that is what this Bullpen might be missing. A Brent Honeywell, a Dan Hudson, who was kind of the unofficial de facto grandpa leader in that bullpen last year. Missing E. Philly pitching for this team. Evan Phillips is massive. Yeah. It is massive.
Starting point is 00:35:14 It is a massive issue. It's a big, it's a big worry. It's a big worry at this point. John with the 199 says too many gut-wrenching losses in one season. It sucks. And we're looking at a team that still has won 88 ball games. Could have been 89 tonight. They've probably left, I don't know, 10 wins out there, maybe more.
Starting point is 00:35:40 According to Rafael Marano, who also has a super chat for $5, we appreciate you at Rafael. What is it going to take to throw in the talent, Scott Nades? We would have won the division and second seat if it wasn't for the 10 blown save. So there's your 10 losses there. I mean, it's not fair. You can't throw it all on the bullpen. But, I mean, yeah, I mean, you look back at this now, like, oh, that game, you know, that one Wednesday in May when we lost a one run game to the pirates or whatever. Yeah, it all matters now because we're so used to being so far ahead in the division, we're spoiled.
Starting point is 00:36:12 And we feel like at this point, you know, with less than a week left in the season, that we should have locked up the division. We should have a 10-game lead. We should have a first round by. we should have home field throughout the playoffs you know all the things that's just that's not the way that it's going this year no um david has a role by the way for tanner scott says he can be bad boy bad boy you're taking a roll away from the bad boy that's fair that is that is fair um got to win tomorrow got to get better got to figure it out got to piece things together you have five games to figure out what you're wow that was quite that was quite the poem got to win tomorrow got to get
Starting point is 00:36:52 better. Gotta figure it out. Gotta piece it together. Look at you. Guys, tube in for more deaf poetry jam with FRG and Alana Rizzo every Monday, Tuesday, and sometimes Thursday here on the YouTube.
