Starting point is 00:00:00 Then she says, have you seen a photo of my son? And I'm like, who is this person? Welcome to the Boys and Girls podcast. Arranged Marriage is basically a reality show and you're auditioning for your soulmate. And who's judging? Only your entire family? I sacrificed myself to this ancient tradition,
Starting point is 00:00:18 hoping to find love the right way. And instead, I found chaos, comedy and a lot of cringe. Listen to Boys and Girls on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. It's the new me and it's the old them. This Woman's History Month, the podcast, If You Knew Better with Amber Grimes, spotlights women who turn missteps into momentum
Starting point is 00:00:39 and lessons into power. My like tunnel vision of like, I gotta achieve this was off the strengths of like, I want to make a better life for us. If You Knew Better brings real talk from women who've lived it, unpacking career pivots, relationship lessons,
Starting point is 00:00:52 and the mindset shifts that changed everything. Listen to If You Knew Better with Amber Grimes on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. All right, son. Time to put out this campfire. Dad, we learned about this in school.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Oh, did you now? Okay. What's first? Smokey Bear said to... First, drown it with a bucket of water, then stir it with a shovel. Wow, you sound just like him. Then he said...
Starting point is 00:01:16 If it's still warm, then do it again. Where can I learn all this? It's all on smoky bear.com with other wildfire prevention tips. Because only you can prevent wildfires. Brought to you by the USDA Forest Service, Forrester and the ad council. I don't even know, I don't even know, I don't even know, I don't even know what to say.
Starting point is 00:01:41 What is up everybody? We were hoping to be able to come to you in a much happier environment. Welcome to Dodgers Territory. The first post-season edition of Dodgers territory. We are your host. That is Clint Paseas, who's about to throw shit at the screen. I am Alana Rizzo. I tell you what.
Starting point is 00:02:03 We appreciate you guys being here. Thanks so much. It's always better when you're around. What is not good, Clint, is the way that the daughters perform today. Again, it's been an interesting ride thus far. We needed them to come out after game two and show us something, and Tay Oscar did. That was about the only benefit. And I know that you want to throw stuff at the screen right now.
Starting point is 00:02:29 I know you need a massive exhale, but we're in trouble. Yeah, now your backs are against the wall. Hell of a comeback attempt by your Los Angeles Dodgers, but they forgot an important part of the comeback, and that's actually comeback. Hell of an effort. Walker Bueller gave this team so damn much, got zero help.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Mani Machado once again doing Bush League stuff. I guess they say it's legal, him running in the baseline on the grass, changing direction of where he's running. If that's legal, he did a good move, but it's just Mani Machado. But it's not on him. It's not on that one play.
Starting point is 00:03:06 The Dodgers are, it's just not a good team. And people watching me on the internet, people hanging out with me on Discord or my All Dodgers Discord. No, this, I've been a Dave Roberts defender for a very long time. This is, I don't know. He's not the leader anymore. I don't think he's the right voice for this team. Now, I'll say this and I'll toss to you, Alana.
Starting point is 00:03:29 I don't know what you do different as the manager in that situation. but to see the same thing, four years running now, three years running, whatever we're at, 21, two, three, four years running, math is hard. And also eight of nine years, something needs to change at some point. What is the issue with speaking up when Manny Machado was running into the throwing lane? I don't, maybe, maybe it was legal. Maybe it was just a way for Manny to have a heads up play there. making it very difficult for Freddie Freeman to make a throw to get him out, but at least for what is there to lose without just speaking up and getting upset.
Starting point is 00:04:13 Why is Dave Roberts not saying something? Why is Danny Lehman, the bench coach, not saying something? Why are one of the other players not up in arms and screaming about Manny running into the thrower's lane there? I don't understand. I mean, so what? So you're wrong. So it's legal.
Starting point is 00:04:27 So it moves like so nothing changes. But say something. Say something. It's legal, but it's a dumb rule. But fuck, say, oh, sorry, but say something. It's okay, we can say it here. It's a move. It's a situation.
Starting point is 00:04:42 It's an opportunity to galvanize your team. Somebody needs to say something. Migy Roe, I think, is pretty obvious. It was more worried about his health status at that point. I don't think he had a lot of fight left in him. But the play was right in front of him. You saw him put his arm out for a little bit, but there was nothing. There was no fight.
Starting point is 00:04:58 There was no spark. I love the tenacity out of walking. Bueller after that inning, chucking shit, punching shit. You know, there are times where punching apparently does good for a pitcher because Walker Bueller absolutely shoved. The line score won't show you that. People looking down the road years from now looking at his postseason career, looking at that game, is not going to tell you how good of a game Walker Bueller pitch.
Starting point is 00:05:21 Still does not have the strikeout, but he's need to learn, need to learn how to work with that. But that doesn't matter right now. This game was tough. And the season, I let entering this postseason, I let this time. team string me along again. And I'm sorry to the people I strung along telling you this team would be different. We would feel different, you know, three games into the NLDS. But no, there's just, there's injuries, there's problems.
Starting point is 00:05:48 Our pets, heads are falling off. Freddie Freeman exits for the second game in a row. You don't know if Miggie Roe is going to be around. It feels a lot like 2021 with all of the issues, all of the pitching woes, just coming to a head at the worst possible time. But it's embarrassing, the same time, it's sad. And it's like no one person's fault in particular. But again, I'm going to say it.
Starting point is 00:06:11 I think this team needs change. It needs something different. You know what's crazy is when Mookie Betts hit that home run to almost the exact same spot and Juerkson Profar went to get the ball. I was like, are you kidding me? I honestly thought he got it. I was like, is this happening again? And then when he actually didn't catch it, and Mookie actually got the home run, I was like, okay, I felt good.
Starting point is 00:06:37 Like I felt like the tide had changed a little bit. I'm like, here we go. Things are working in the Dodgers favor. Now we can figure out a way to get this game, the first game in San Diego. I really felt like if they got game three, which is obviously, it's always the odd number games that are pivotal games, right? One's a statement game. Three is a pivotal game.
Starting point is 00:06:54 Obviously, if it goes to five, it's a winner go home. That's not. And with that right there, you're watching. You're just like, holy shit, you've got to be kidding me. And I think everybody was like holding their breath like did he do it again and then when Mookie got the home run I was like okay like the god like the tide is turning right the gods are like in the Dodgers favor and again jerks and pro far making an athletic play there didn't get it. I was like all right here we go. This is like now like this makes sense like we're going to
Starting point is 00:07:18 we're going to be okay and then son of a bitch and it's just like it kind it's just like fell apart and I'm like what is happening what is happening and then it's like you have All of this go wrong. I'm like, I'm in a daze right now. Like, I don't even, it might be because it's midnight and I'm 100 years old. I'm like, I'm like, I'm in. And I was like, okay. And then Tay Oscar comes up and hits a grand freaking slam.
Starting point is 00:07:41 I'm like, we're in this. Like, it's a new game. Like, we're going to be fine. And that was the only good moment in the game. And I'm like, when you have a guy like Walker who has that tenacity and that fire, but he still gives up six earned runs, the defense does nothing behind him. And then I would. was very surprised at Dave's in-game interview with Ken Rosenthal. He was already, it almost felt like
Starting point is 00:08:06 he already admitted that the game was over and he was already looking for, hello Noah Ortega, Mookie's two hits and Teo's Grand Slam got wasted. Yeah, I mean, yeah, but I was like, I was surprised that Dave almost seemed like he was waving the white flag, right? And he was already looking towards game four as if game three was already over. This obviously was before Teosker hit the grand slam, but I was like, why are we talking about tomorrow? Like, we still have an opportunity to win. Like, where is that freaking fire? Where is that passion?
Starting point is 00:08:39 Where is like, we know we got this. Like, we're the comeback kids. We know, like, there's nothing that we can't overcome. That's just not, it's just not this team. Ambitious, well-intentioned, ferocious and wealthy. Mother looks like in the black community. This Woman's History Month, the podcast, Keep It Posit, Sweetie, celebrates the power of women choosing healing, purpose, and faith, even when life gets messy.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Love is not a destination. You have to work on it every day. Keep it positive, sweetie, creates space for honest conversations on self-worth, love, growth, and navigating life with grace and grid, led by women who uplift, inspire, and tell the truth out loud. I have several conversations with God, and I know why it took 20 years. To hear this and more, listen to Keep It Posit, Sweetie, on the I'd Heart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. It's the new me and it's the old them.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Everybody's on their journey and your journey is different to this. This Woman's History Month, the podcast, if you knew better with Amber Grimes, spotlights women who turn missteps into momentum and lessons into power. I think coming out of where I came from, I'm from the Bronx, I think I grew up really poor. I didn't know that then because I very much used my creativity to romanticize life. And I'm like, my mom did a really good job of like you step back,
Starting point is 00:09:57 and you're like, whoa, we, I don't know how we made it. So a lot of my life was like built out of like survival to get to the next place. Like my drive, my like tunnel vision of like, I got to be better. I got to achieve this was off the strengths of like I want to make a better life for us. If You Knew Better brings real talk from women who've lived it, unpacking career pivots, relationship lessons, and the mindset shifts that changed everything. Listen to If You Knew Better with Amber Grimes on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:10:31 All right, son. Time to put out this campfire. Dad, we learned about this in school. Oh, did you now? Okay. What's first? Smokey Bear said to... First, drown it with a bucket of water,
Starting point is 00:10:41 then stir it with a shovel. Wow, you sound just like him. Then he said... If it's still warm, then do it again. Where can I learn all this? It's all on smokybear.com with other wildfire prevention tips, because only you can prevent wildfires.
Starting point is 00:10:57 Brought to you by the USDA Forest Service, your state Forrester and the ad council. Yeah, I mean, there's a few things we go with this. The defense, Keen-O-Kong in the chat says defense lost this game, plain and simple. You know, Miguel Rojas, a tough decision where that, it wasn't going to be a double play, but does not turn to double play, does not record an out in the second inning there where everything just completely comes apart. I will give credit to some of the decisions Dave Roberts made. I mean, letting Walker go out there, Walker, you know, restoring order, pulling the right levers when it comes to the bullpen choices. Those guys were nails once again.
Starting point is 00:11:35 I saw our guy, Scotty Braun, in the chat talking about how good this bullpen is. But beyond that, the fact that he's talking about worrying already, it's the second inning or the third inning. You're talking already about worrying about the next day's game and your arms and who's going to be available. if you lose this game, like try it, why not just focus on winning this game? Fuck tomorrow. Tomorrow will be there when you get there.
Starting point is 00:12:00 And one last thing, with the lack of any sort of of fight or anger or any sort of emotion from Dave, listen, that comes down to what we saw game two and what we've seen over the last couple of days with the emotion, will say that the Padres play with. They got under the Dodger skins and a skin,
Starting point is 00:12:26 and then what we see this organization do, sometimes often in the postseason, try to overcorrect and act a little too nonchalant. So Dave Roberts not trying to egg on the Padres there by complaining. You got to get out there and at least start a little bit of a huff that Manny Machado played. The fact that nobody said anything, the fact that it took the broadcast,
Starting point is 00:12:45 the Fox broadcast, maybe three, four, five minutes to even kind of address it. I mean, Joe Davis did slug. lightly, but I mean, just a hair of a mention and then they just completely avoided. I think there were a lot, like a lot of us who did not know if that play was legal or not, but the fact that you're not out there, you're not saying something. The only time we saw him come out. Even if it is legal, even if, even if Manny Machado is 1,000% in the right, everybody,
Starting point is 00:13:11 there was enough people, if it's more than one person questioning whether he's allowed to do that, somebody say something, somebody on the bench, somebody on the coaching staff, say, something about, hey, can we check this? Is this right? Is he allowed to do that? Like that, I mean, okay, by the way, I have to say that, you know, we have been on Mookiee Betts for not performing in the postseason. He went two for four tonight and got a home run. So I'm off, I'm off the, let's like, let's be mad at Mookie Betts train because he did his part tonight. And starting with the fact that he hit that home run to get things going. And I was like, all right, the tide is turning in the favor of the Los Angeles daughters. There's no freaking fight in this team. And it
Starting point is 00:13:47 irritates me. And it bothers me because they're so unbelievably talented. And I was talking today about, hello, Swellyn Sausage, hello. I miss you on the dog. I miss you too, sweetheart. Thank you. I was talking today on MLB network on national TV about how all of the team, every single AL Central team, okay, they all have grit. I know we're talking about gritty, we're talking about gritty tigers.
Starting point is 00:14:12 The two teams that don't have any freaking fight, the two teams that don't have any freaking fight are the two biggest teams in the game. The two teams that have the biggest peril. The Yankees don't have grit and the daughters don't have any fight right now. The Padres, the Mets, the Phillies to a certain extent, and certainly all three of the AL Central teams have like something to prove. Like have this fire and like they're playing a kid's game with unbelievable fire, a fire lit under their ass. And we are just missing that.
Starting point is 00:14:43 We're missing it. And it's so it's so disheartening. And it just makes me want to scream. You know why we're missing it. We just had that super chat on the screen from Kevin Perez Allen that said the Dodgers need that kind of fire from the legendary manager, FRG. That's me to bring the power that I bring, the tenacity I bring to my recreational softball teams. Holy crap, 999. Kevin, thank you. Thank you, Kevin Perez, Allen.
Starting point is 00:15:11 We appreciate that every much, very much. You know, last night on my Monday off day show, I did predict a mooky bets breakout. but I also went in pretty hard on Will Smith. I've been doing that for the last month, but Will Smith and Max Muncie outside of a garbage time homer for Max. Hopefully keep coming on that work, bud. But like having nothing out of your, what is it, five and six hole, that is a massive problem for this Dodgers lineup.
Starting point is 00:15:40 It's not just moving. Lonsky O for four, Smith O for four, Luxo for four, Edmund O for three, Rojas. Well, I think Will O for the series. And listen, listen. The thing with Will, and I said this a month ago, and I got some shit about it. Maybe it was more than a month ago. But I said, we need to have some real Will Smith conversations right now.
Starting point is 00:15:59 Lana, you covered the team. You were there in the dugout on at least three separate occasions where Dave Roberts, where this team gave up, they punted on their starting catcher in favor of Austin Barnes. One of those times, it helped, both those times, all three of those times, it helped lead them to a fucking world. I said this, whether it was last, whether it was. was, what is today, by the way, Tuesday? Tuesday, whatever. So on Thursday, I said this.
Starting point is 00:16:25 Like, Austin Barnes may not get a ton of playing time in the regular season, but for whatever reason, the real A-B, as Jerry Harrison, Jr. calls him, ends up being the starting catcher more often than not in the postseason. Maybe there's something to be said about that. Yes, he is not the same offensive catcher as a Will Smith. He wasn't the same offensive catcher as Yasmani Grandal. He wasn't the same offensive catcher, perhaps. as AJ Ellis or whomever else we freaking had behind the plate.
Starting point is 00:16:53 But there's something about Austin Barnes behind the plate that's mattered. If Clayton Kershaw wanted him, you know, I know A.J. Ellis was Clayton Kershaw's, you know, personal catcher. But there's something about Austin Barnes that was different. I don't know if it was because they didn't, you know, have a ton of pass balls like Yasmani did or whatever it is. But there was something about him in the postseason that made him different. There was something about Kike in the postseason.
Starting point is 00:17:17 There was something about Chris Taylor in the postseason. I don't know. This team is just, and I hate it. I hate it. It hurts. It hurts me deep inside to say this, but we just don't have it this year. And I've been saying this shit the entire season. It's like, again, I know Jack Flaherty went deep into the ballgame. Yamamoto, not good. Walker Bueller gave up five earned runs or six earned runs or whatever the frick it was. I understand the defense kind of, you know, let him down. Six earned runs for Walker Bueller. But it doesn't matter. At this point, you could put, you know, you could put a healthy Clayton Kirschild out. There's just you can only do so much.
Starting point is 00:17:53 And it's so freaking infuriating as, as talented as this team is. Again, it doesn't matter if you win. They could have won 160. They could have gone 162 and zero. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. If you don't win in the post season and you can't get out of the first flipping round, that's a freaking problem.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Yeah. When that calendar flips, you see a different mentality. I got to use a chat. I want to get through, then I figure we should probably let people hear about Mint Mobile in a second. But Devin talking about what conversation when it comes to Will Smith, he just got paid. Yeah, I mean, Yasmani Grandal was making a good amount of money in 17 and 18, and they opted to go to Barnes for the Greater Park because of his defense. In 20, Will was still pretty damn green. And it's worth noting, Austin Barnes, the 2020 postseason hit 320 with an 833 OPS. The Dodgers do
Starting point is 00:18:47 not make the World Series, let alone win the World Series without Austin Barnes catching there. If he's, even if he earns a walk or maybe gets a hit, it's still better than what Will Smith is providing. Tomorrow is your last day playing baseball in the 2024 calendar year. If you do not win a ball game. And I think, I was talking about it last night on my stream, what do you do? People wanting to move mookie bets down. I think that's a panic move. Now you're in panic move situation, and you don't know what the Padre lineup is going to look like. But people, not very happy Justin Yamas as Will Smith is irrelevant. I see that. I get that. What did I see? Richie. He better start becoming relevant because they gave him a 10-year, $100 million deal.
Starting point is 00:19:29 So he better figure it out. And you know what? This is an opportunity to really jump on Michael King. And Teosker Hernandez did jump. I mean, he gave up five earned runs, four of which happened to be off of Teasster's bat when it comes to, you know, when it comes to the Grand Slam. but it's like you've got to take advantage of this. And I don't even know, I don't even know, I don't even know, I don't even know what to say at this point. Alana, let's do this. Let's take a mental reset. We back in a moment after a quick word from A.J. Prasinski's Eric Kratz and our guy, Scott Bron, about Mint Mobile. This moment's history month, the podcast, Keep It Pazes, Sweden. celebrates the power of women choosing healing, purpose, and faith, even when life gets messy. Love is not a destination.
Starting point is 00:21:21 You have to work on it every day. Keep it positive, sweetie creates space for honest conversations on self-worth, love, growth, and navigating life with grace and grid led by women who uplift, inspire, and tell the truth out loud. I have several conversations with God, and I know why. It took 20 years. To hear this and more, listen to Keep It Posit, Sweetie. on the I Heart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:21:50 All right, Ben Mobile. We appreciate you very much. Here's a thing. Don't worry, Clint, because Landon Knack's on the Hill tomorrow. It's going to be fine. That's exactly who you thought was going to be pitching game for.
Starting point is 00:21:58 Land and Nack, and it's probably going to end up being a bullpen game facing elimination. I feel totally, totally fine. I'm fine. I'll add to that as well. You don't know if Freddie Freeman's going to be in there
Starting point is 00:22:10 after jamming that ankle could barely get to first base after getting that final single in whatever inning it was. I don't forget, Miguel Rojas, probably done for the postseason with the way he looked coming out of the game in that moment. And then you wonder, now, is this a situation where do they go to Kevin Kiermeyer, who's going to do nothing on the 26th man? It's not a slight on him. He's just not going to make a difference.
Starting point is 00:22:33 Or do they go wild? Do they bring up Dalton rushing for his big league debut in the post season? God, you've been clamoring from this dude for, Oh yeah, sure. Watch him. Okay. You know, there needs to be something different. That's the point here.
Starting point is 00:22:49 And they also have some problems. They have some areas of concern when it comes to health. And Landon, Nick, listen, there are better pictures you'd want out there. There are worst pitchers that could be out there. Landenac, pretty dang good, all things considered. He kind of had his opportunities in, in tough situations and tough starts. You know, didn't look great in Atlanta, but talked about,
Starting point is 00:23:12 how much he learned in that spot. I think he's kind of learned how to deal with the raucous that you're going to get at Petco Park. And I mean, we saw it be a different animal in that, what, second inning. It ended up costing Walker Bueller a ball because he couldn't hear his pitch calm. Landon neck. Can he rise up to this moment? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:36 Can he rise up to the moment? There it is. I don't know. But he's all we got. And that's the fun of being a Dodger, in this era when they aren't handing out 60 game seasons anymore. Oh, stop it. You better, you better get off that.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Get off that asterisk. That's not cool. All right, a couple of things that you said. You can stay help. There's a couple of things that you said that I want to bring up. I want to expand upon. Number one, Walker Bueller, having his glove up to his ear, every single pitch. He obviously, I'm like, just fucking throw down some fingers.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Like, go back to old school. Like, if you can't hear because the freaking crowd is so crazy. Like figure it out number one like like this is obvious and then the more he does this the more the crowd goes crazy like there's got to be some sort of like all right here's our plan You know like we're gonna throw down these fingers like figure there has to be a backup plan before you know pitchcom was a thing like they were throwing down fingers they painted the fingernails that's nothing here's another thing maybe the Padres are just better Maybe the Padres are just pretty good we talked about maybe this is just not the Dodgers year there's there's a strong likelihood I mean, you face these teams who play as well as the Padres did in the second half. They got momentum. They enter the series feeling like they have very little to lose.
Starting point is 00:24:53 They just got to beat a team. They beat a whole bunch. They're not a whole bunch, but they beat more than the Dodgers beat them this regular season. And the Dodgers entered this postseason, missing more than half of a starting rotation, going in with an injured Freddie Freeman, going in with an injured 35-year-old shortstop. The cards were stacked against the Dodgers. and the Padres are just a very good team, and they know how to use Petco Park flawlessly.
Starting point is 00:25:18 Listen, I will applaud the Padres for what they did. Mani Machado, still Bush League, still don't like him. But he's a grinder. He's a ball player, and this is what that team does. They love being the villain, and they love getting under the other team's skin to a point where the Dodgers apparently just try to be like, oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say anything.
Starting point is 00:25:39 You know, like you guys keep playing your game. We're just going to be here, and hopefully we win. I don't know. I want to see some more folks. But shouldn't you rise above, like, teams trying to get under your skin? It's like I saw the Max Muncie post game or pregame comments that he's saying, that's just the way that they go about it.
Starting point is 00:25:55 You know, they just, they try to get under your skin. But shouldn't you just, shouldn't you be the better team? I mean, if you want, again, and I, and I'm, I never say that payroll buys championships because it doesn't, because payroll buys really good players, right? But again, 325 million and Yama still hasn't. shown me anything. You know, obviously, Otani has paid for himself, himself a billion times over, but payroll doesn't guarantee championships. You have to figure out a way to rise above who you're playing. And I'm not saying that the Padres aren't good. I thought that they were good all season
Starting point is 00:26:32 long. I think this is the best Padres team I've seen in a long time since like way back in the day, since the Tony Gwind days. I mean, this is a hell of a well-rounded team. And, you know, again, it's, it's been a combination of things. It's been, I just didn't think the starting staff was there, and you're going to have to out slug these guys. And it hasn't happened. And Fernando Tatease, for whatever reason, has he not hit a home run in every game so far? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:00 I mean, he hit a home run today. He hit a home run in game. I don't know. I feel like he's hit a home run. He's hit enough. He's hit enough. He's not the hell of the postseason. They have the vibes.
Starting point is 00:27:11 We hope the Dodgers had what they called. They were saying the Dodgers had an edge. There's a bad joke I could make here, but, you know, edging and the Dodgers and us not being able to complete the comeback. But I'm not going to do it. I'm going to avoid it. But the Dodgers apparently set a record, or the Padres could have, you could also say set a record. 16 consecutive Dodgers hitters retired following the Teoska Hernandez Grand Slam. And that is a postseason MOB record.
Starting point is 00:27:37 That's how bad the Dodgers are. They're setting the worst kind of records you want to see out there. But you got one more game. Is there positive? Do you have any positive left in the tank, Alana? Yeah. I mean, we have no choice but to be positive, right? We have no choice, we have no choice,
Starting point is 00:27:52 but to think that they're going to figure this out and force a game five to come back to Dodger Stadium. I think if it comes back to Dodger Stadium, I mean, again, I hate to say it. And I love this team, but that's why I said that, unfortunately, you know, on national TV and everyone was jumping all over me that a Padres in five. And the reason that I think that is just because I think
Starting point is 00:28:10 that they just have better starting pitching. And it's like, at least you aren't paying Bogart's $300 million. Yeah, well, we're paying Yamamoto $325, Sam. So let's see where that takes us. But the point is, it's like, I just, of course, I have to believe. Like, what's the point of being a fan if you're just going to give up? I just don't think that, obviously, I think if the Dodgers win tomorrow, they've got a really, really good shot of winning game five.
Starting point is 00:28:36 Even with Yamamoto in game five? No, no, I don't want Yamamoto. on the mountain. But I just, I just don't, I don't know who else you throw. I don't know who else you throw. We just don't have, we, we just don't have the start. I mean, how did we get into this situation? Like, it's just, I mean, the amount of injuries that we've had and it's just like the guys that are healthy, you know, I mean, Flaherty went deep into the game, but you got it, you got a hit too. And our offense just is not there. There's not, they're not coming up with the exception of Teosker, who was my X factor in the series. They're not just they're not coming through in the clutch with that big hit that matters that like that come from behind just look at the I don't know how many of our fans Dodgers fans and our viewers and listeners have been paying attention to the other series but it's just like it's punch after punch after punch on either side if you're looking at the guardians and the tigers. It's like these come from behind winds if you're looking at the Phillies and them I mean today's Mets Phillies game notwithstanding because the Phillies just you know shit the bed. But like in games one and two it was back and forth and back. and forth, you know, and the Yankees and the Royals and the Guardians and the Tigers, it's like there's just, there seems to be a fight in each of those teams for those particular series. I don't know. It's just, there's just a, it's just a, it's just lackluster to me.
Starting point is 00:29:56 It's just, it's just, thank you, thanks. I mean, that's, we're putting the, that's a, that's a pretty low bar there, Frankie, but I appreciate you and love you. Listen, that's a pretty low bar, Frankie. Let me, let me spit for a second. Dodgers, your backs are against the wall. You've been in this situation before. Maybe a better club, a better 26-man roster was in the situation before, but they've pulled out of it. They've pulled through. Maybe tomorrow's the game where they go out and put up an 11-run first inning in a hostile environment in San Diego.
Starting point is 00:30:27 We knew this was going to be a bloodbath. We knew this was going to be a dogfight in San Diego. And I think for everybody, for baseball, the script says this needs to go to game five. It needs to come back to L.A. where it will be anybody's ballgame. but you got a chance. Baseball is not over. What did Vince Scully tell us all those years ago in the history of the Dodgers? Nothing has ever come easy.
Starting point is 00:30:48 This is one of those moments where somebody needs to step up. It's not just show, hey, it's not just Moogie. It's not just on the starting pitching either. It's everybody. Everybody needs to do something. They need to do something to help their ball club win or more so something to help their ball club not lose, which... That's what we need. We need a laffer, right?
Starting point is 00:31:07 We need a laffer. We need to go out there and, and jump on them early, put up, you know, like a six, seven spot in the first three innings. Something to like let this team just take a breather and relax. That's what that's what you need. You need something to like, they're so tense right now. They seem just like they're not having fun. They're not smiling.
Starting point is 00:31:25 They're not loose. They don't have it doesn't look like they have confidence. You know, like this is not a team that knows that they can win and feels like they've got it under any situation. This is not like the come from behind like nothing phases. them. I don't get that sense. I feel like they're, they're tight and they're worried and they're just stressed. They got a lot. They got a lot on their shoulders. They understand the narrative. Mookie talked a whole bunch yesterday about understanding that narrative of, of being over 20, his last 22 in the postseason three for his last 44. He was able to reverse that narrative.
Starting point is 00:32:03 But the Dodgers haven't won. They haven't advanced in the last, well, coming up on three years. if they can't figure out how to win two more games. They haven't made it to a World Series since playing in that short season in 2020. They haven't made it to an LCS until they fell apart in 2021. They've got a lot of stress. They've got a lot of national media looking at all the money this team just committed, committing to more than a billion dollars in free agents and payroll this offseason two possibly, or this past off season to possibly lose in the first round again,
Starting point is 00:32:42 it's stressful. No doubt it's stressful. But you're also big leaguers. You get paid a lot of money. As Mookie says, you all drive nice cars, figure it out, bring it home,
Starting point is 00:32:51 and let's celebrate in front of the Dodger faithful at Dodger Stadium. Hopefully with nobody throwing shit on the field. Yeah, I do think they win tomorrow. And I think obviously, if they win tomorrow, it forces a game five, obvi,
Starting point is 00:33:03 I think they win game five. But, you know, you got to jump on them early. You got to get out. and show that, you know what, we can do this. We're fine. We've got this. I think that a laugher would be, I mean, for my own heart, for my own heart and for my own mind, can we just like get out and, you know, smash them early and then come back to Dodger Stadium and get it done. And I have faith.
Starting point is 00:33:25 I do have faith that that can happen. But man, I need to see, I need to see a little, like, you know, happiness in their step. Like, you know what? Go out there like you have nothing to lose, even though you do. You have everything to lose for sure. Yeah, have some swagger, have some, you know, strut in your stuff, which it felt like they had in the first inning. But, hey, put it all behind you, boys. It's time to go out there and win.
Starting point is 00:33:50 Or if not, tomorrow's show, if we're doing one, is going to be even worse, whether it's here or whether it's on my channel.
