And until we get Max Muncie back to kind of level out the playing
Starting point is 00:02:06 field, level out the lineup, everybody else has to figure it out. Ready and welcome to a live post-agission of Dodgers territory. I am Alana Rizzo. That is Clint Paseas. Chico dopedness already in the chat with a bunch of question mark, question mark,
Starting point is 00:02:34 exclamation point, exclamation point, question mark, question mark. So we're going to get to that. This is going to be the Dodgers territory therapy half hour we want to hear from you guys we want to know what's on your mind we want you to vent we are here to listen to it you don't even have to lay down on the couch and it's not three hundred dollars an hour all you need to do is like subscribe rate us five stars uh do all the things don't forget you guys you can be in this therapy session the next time in styled check out the dodgers territory shop dot com you can just scan the code right there on youtube or you can go to dodgers
Starting point is 00:03:10 com and shop all the goods um and support the show support clint support myself support us in style we appreciate it very much all right clint let's get to it this was not on emmitchian this was on the dodgers leaving a village on base yeah yeah um guys again we'll we'll say sound off in the comments we want this to be therapy one everybody to kind of get their uh get their thoughts out there we'll hang out with the chat a whole bunch but yeah what five hits in this one six walks. You think the Dodgers would be able to do something with that, which they did. They had a number of base runners. 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position.
Starting point is 00:03:49 10 left on base. Their eighth shutout of the season, third since the start of August. Hat tip to our friend Stephen Nelson, which really hat tip to Rick Krojewski for tossing the notes that way. 7, 8, 9 batters go 0 for 10 in this one. Just not a lot. A lot of goose eggs in the wrong spot. and let's see I'm going to throw the chat up here Joshua not not a happy fellow where'd you go it went away but he's saying there we go this team does not deserve to win a game in the postseason let alone the world series and risk we're going to have some crashouts to tonight today this afternoon because
Starting point is 00:04:27 they've lost two games now to the pirates come on what are we doing here yeah but you know how like Dave robert was saying that Teasca Hernandez kind of has a little bit more juice when it matters the most, like when they're in the bigger series. Perhaps that's what's going on with this team right now. I would have a little bit more patience with it if we weren't in such a tight division race. Now, the Padres lost today. They got swept by the Orioles. The Padres since they took care of business against the Los Angeles daughters. I believe they're now three and eight since that time. So the Padres are scuffling as well. I believe the daughters have what a three game lead in the division right now, three and a half game, whatever it is, you guys tell me. But that being said,
Starting point is 00:05:13 I don't like that these games, I mean, these should be blowout games in our favor, right? These should be games that everyone's kind of getting in, you know, run into the back rack, that type of situation. You could see the body language of the pirate starter. I mean, the Dodgers had several opportunities with runners in scoring position and they just couldn't get down a big hit to save their lives. That is problematic. Now, again, I, I'm always glass half full when it comes to these guys. You're the more realistic one or more of the glass half empty type. You're a good cop, bad cop situation.
Starting point is 00:05:46 Yeah, we do it well. But this can not happen in the postseason. I don't think it will. But this is problematic. And until we get Max Muncie back to kind of level out the playing field, level out the lineup, everybody else has to figure it out. And it's, you know, this was this was not good. Yeah, you know, it is weird.
Starting point is 00:06:06 I mean, obviously, we know this team is just leaps and bounce. better with Max Muncie in the lineup, at least this season especially, or I should say especially this season. We have seen it. The proof is in the pudding. He has missed time. And each time the offense has not shown up at all. But it's so weird to me that a ball club that has future Hall of Fame or Freddie Freeman,
Starting point is 00:06:26 you know, batting cleanup or just in the in the lineup in general that has Mookie bets, you know, Shohayotani still new to winning. I understand that. But these are dudes with rings, both as Dodgers. and as, you know, participants of other ball clubs, why is this on max to kind of be, and obviously not everything is on Max Muncie, but when you're seeing as the,
Starting point is 00:06:50 I'm trying to pick my words carefully. Carefully, I don't want to burn no bridges with this, but when you're seeing the effort this team is putting out there, you know, I can't just be Max Muncie. You need these other dudes to step up. You need to ask her to step up in some way.
Starting point is 00:07:05 But really, Freddie. Freddie's kind of been as good of a season he's had. He's sort of an MIA. But we have been saying that about Teosker since he came back from the All-Star Marine, since he came back from the injury, rather. I mean, this is a guy that just doesn't have it this year. Again, I don't, I'm not concerned. I just don't like, I never perceive anything as lack of effort.
Starting point is 00:07:25 That's one thing I'll never say with this club. I never questioned their effort. I just, you know, sometimes they at bats, I'm wondering, like, is that the most professional at bat we could have taken? Are we working the count as much as we could in that particular? at bat. Are you trying to go the other way there? Are you trying to move a guy over? I mean, we had plenty of guys on base tonight, right? You didn't need a five-run home run. Just get a run. You know, like there's no way that you should have lost three to nothing to the Pittsburgh pirates
Starting point is 00:07:53 in this game. It's not like they had Paul Skeens on the hill every single inning. You know what I mean? Like there's no way that this game should have gone in the L column for the Los Angeles. I'm not I'm not saying it all falls on Muncie. My bigger concern, again, I want to reiterate this is not on Sheehan, who is also still trying to audition for a postseason spot. My bigger concern is Will Smith are right. He left the game with that contusion, which means a bruise. But it's still, it's like, okay, so how long is Will going to be out?
Starting point is 00:08:30 Yeah. And then he also had Dalton rushing kind of foul a pitch off of his his index finger it looked like and you're like oh man we are like minutes away from finally letting keke catch because they're running out of catchers here but yeah i mean if this is a team that loses will smith who obviously he's a catcher he's kind of in his second half a little bit of a second half a cold stretch even if he's been a little better uh over the last you know week or so but that much aside you still want somebody like will smith an all-star uh your franchise catcher you need him in your lineup day in and day out if you want any chance of winning or getting deep
Starting point is 00:09:10 into the post season so you know prayer is up to will it did not look exceptionally great i don't know how like with where his hand was he did a good job of hiding his hand we've seen a lot of catchers it just kind of leave their hand up on their thigh or something like that so it was out of the way just a really yeah really really bad luck situation but um you know he got one at bad don't look good at least yeah i just uh i this is funny Raider Man who I don't like your name Raider Man because I'm a Broncos fan. I'm assuming this is because of the Las Vegas Raiders, but I do like your point here. Can't beat the Angels, can't beat Colorado, can't beat the pirates.
Starting point is 00:09:46 No offense, no championship. Again, but look at those teams. It makes you crazy because of the caliber of opponent that you're losing to. But that being said, again, glass half full here, I'm not concerned because I do feel when it matters the most. August-September games are so annoying, right? Like it's just so annoying to get you get to the all-star break where do you sit at the all-star break? What are you going to do at the trade deadline?
Starting point is 00:10:13 And then it's like August just drag. September is exciting because it's like, all right, it's the final push to the postseason. But you know this team. I still maintain they're going to win the division. You know this team is going to get into the postseason. And then they have, I know you can't in baseball. You can't just flip a switch, right? You can't.
Starting point is 00:10:29 It's impossible to do. But you just have to hope that the guys that are the key cogs of this. puzzle are healthy and everyone is, you know, starting to play at least, at least to the back, not even over their skis, but at least to the backside of their baseball cards. Yeah. The note I had made to myself to try to be some, you know, give some positive take to this. Like, this is a bad team we're watching right now. It's the emphasis is on the right now.
Starting point is 00:11:00 This is a team that is missing Max Muncie. the apparent key to this Dodgers lineup, but this is not the complete product. And yes, we are getting back into the if this happens, if this happens, well, if Max Muncie comes back and produces and help settle this lineup where Alex Freeland and his, you know, under the Mendoza batting average, Mendoza line batting averages out of there, you would assume they're going to be a little bit better with a deeper lineup. That's it. That's what I have to be positive about right now. This team we are watching is a bad team. But this team is not the team. It's not the that we are going to see on the field in October.
Starting point is 00:11:35 So again, there's a lot of doomer gloomer, which we asked for. I asked for, you know, in the chat. And I want to get to a lot of those. I think you bring up a good point, though. The team that we're watching right now on September 3rd is not the team that is going to be on the, what I'm going to assume is the NLDDS roster. I'm not even thinking about the wild card roster because I think we get in as the division winners and we have one of the top two seeds and we're in the DS.
Starting point is 00:11:59 That's how we start our postseason. So I think that when Max returns, when Tommy Edmund returns, I think it's going to be a much when, you know, Freddie's going to figure it out. Like, Freddie is one of the steadiest dudes, right? He's going to figure it out. If Kike can be Kike in the postseason, if Tay Oscar can do even a little bit of what he did last year. If Mookie can get, I mean, yeah, there's a lot of can you can this, if that, the other thing. But this team is way too good to be dropping series to the Angels, the Rockies, and the Pirates. Okay. It's going to be a very different looking team in about less than a month when the postseason starts.
Starting point is 00:12:39 Nuts to say. Our buddy, Maddie Man 5 Dodge says we're delusional, which is fine. I want people to crash out right now. That is fine. Everybody let all the feelings, let all the hate come out of you right now. Tall Ken is saying that below 500 without Max, that's just that's a stat. That tells you they are much worse without Max Muncie. I will flip you the birds disagreeing with me that they have better options to start,
Starting point is 00:13:05 to be in that starting lineup, yet they are not starting them. What are you talking about? Listen, they didn't have Michael Conforto in the lineup today. And guess what, Alex Call got on base twice, I think it was, maybe three times. So that's already something. Dave Roberts finally giving Conforto a little bit of Das Boot. I would like to see Hezhan Kim get into the lineup. If we're talking about Ryan Ward at AAA, very clearly,
Starting point is 00:13:29 not going to ever give him an opportunity. No other team gave him an opportunity when he was available as a Rule 5 as a Rule 5 draft eligible player last offseason as well. There is something Major League teams do not like about Ryan Ward. He's not going to be an option. Right now, these are kind of the best dudes the Dodgers have at the moment. And I feel a lot better once they get Edmund, once they get Muncie back in the lineup. And I also feel a lot better is if we take a quick break and then come back and talk more with the chat. You cool with that? Fair enough. Go We will be right back. Fans, week one is your shot to play free and stack a million dollar cash bag with Draft Kings Pick Six

Hello, hello. I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of Smart Talks with IBM. I recently spoke with IBM's new director of research, Jake Embatta. We discussed his vision for the future of quantum computing. At IBM research, what we always do is answer what is the future of computing,
Starting point is 00:15:22 whether it's coming up with new algorithms, coming up with better AI, coming up with quantum, or coming up with just how do different accelerates, operators go together. It's our DNA to answer the question of what is the future. Isn't it a perfect problem for IBM because you kind of need to have a legacy of building stuff? Yes. Building actual physical machines. Yeah, it's why I came to IBM. I wanted the experience, the culture of building hard things that others have not done before.
Starting point is 00:15:55 Where do you imagine we are in the timeline of this technology? There will come a point when it will mature. Right? My cell phone is a mature technology at this point. How far are we from that point with quantum? By 2029, we'll build the first fault-tolerant quantum computer. That is one that can run a very, very large, large problem. To learn how IBM is building the future of computing, visit IBM.com slash quantum.
Starting point is 00:16:29 We are back. We have some people in the chat who want to sound off, Alana. Let's give people, let's give our friends. 300 GJW with the 199 Super Chat saying what a listless piss poor effort agree or disagree. I mean, it's not it's not yeah, listless sure. But again, I don't, I know I'm getting blown up in the chat too that everyone's like, how can you say that it's not like, you know, there lacks the days of gold at bats? I get it. Every day is not going to be 10 for 10, you guys.
Starting point is 00:16:56 I understand. I know that you're pissed. Here it is B. L. Boyd. Max being gone is total bullshit excuse for this shit, Alana. How can you not question their. effort when we have seen this shit with runners and scoring position all year long. Let it out be,
Starting point is 00:17:09 oh, boy, I hear you, brother. I get it. And I understand the frustration. And that's what we're here for. And that's as a fan, you have the absolute right to feel that way. I just know what it matters the most. They're going to give you the professional at bats. They're going to be the product that has put on the team that you guys expect to see and
Starting point is 00:17:26 want to see. Yes, what I have loved to have swept the Padres, or excuse me, and I show the potters and the Angels and the Rockies and the Pirates. all the things, but you're not going to go 162 and 0. I mean, if they start looking like this going into the postseason, then that's a different conversation. You know, but then again, like I don't want to be, I don't want to be the guy who talks about the past,
Starting point is 00:17:47 but we're going to have to talk about the past a little bit. We saw them in 2017. You saw that team, and we've talked about it here before on the show. You saw that team very up close and personal that they played like dog shit in September and made it to the World Series. We're a very, very good ball club. 2018 team was pretty bad, played 100, you know,
Starting point is 00:18:04 had to play 163 games to end up getting to the postseason made it to the World Series. Twenty-teen was just, you know, an absolute monster. But in 22 and 23, these were teams that won 107, 111, 111, a billion games and were swept in the first round. I always like to say, and Alana, you've heard me say in a million times now, you know, part of a good story is some strife, some issues in the middle. If you're watching a movie where it's just perfect polypositive all the way through the movie. It's a boring movie. And to have this shit happen now, I much prefer it happen now than one month from now. And then we're complaining about a first round exit. That is exactly
Starting point is 00:18:48 the point that Dino Ebel made. When we talked to Dino Ebel earlier in this season right here on Dodgers territory, for those of you that remember that episode, we appreciate you being there then and now. He said that when we talked about the strength of the NL West and how. And how How much better this division was, the Colorado Rockies notwithstanding. We thought the Diamondbacks were going to be a lot better, right? We thought that the Giants were going to be better. And I certainly thought they were going to be a lot more competitive when they got Rafael Devers. But the point being at that time was you want that adversity.
Starting point is 00:19:19 You don't want to run the table in the division and then get your ass absolutely handed to you in the first round of the postseason, especially if there's a layoff, which we probably will have if we win the division because we get the first round by. So I'm okay with the adversity. What would scare me more is if you couldn't beat for the life of you, if our record against 500 or above teams sucked, then I would be worried. I'm not worried about losing the teams that are below 500. I'm just not. Do people feel a little bit better?
Starting point is 00:19:51 It's going to be a lackadaisical moment to take a, you know, a quote out of the bat flip one, wherever it went. I will flip you the bird. Yeah. Yeah, I will flip you the bird. Um, that, yeah, you know, I get that. I would rather have lackadigal, lackadaisical effort against a below 500 team than a team that you know that you're probably going to face. If you're lucky enough to get to the postseason that you're going to face in the playoffs.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Yeah, Lucy saying to the chat, there's no urgency to say what you're saying again in a different way. I'd rather have no urgency now than in a month from this point. earlier in the chat, Tall Ken, Chit also said Freeland Conforto are saviors. We don't need saviors. They kind of need some saviors right now. They need some help. Richie talking about that stretch in 2017.
Starting point is 00:20:41 That was two weeks in September. This bullshit has been going on since July 3rd. And you know who's been missing from the lineup for the majority of the time since July 3rd. Is Maxwell Stephen Muncie? You've got to get my boy. He's going to be the savior. Remember? Thank you, Oakland Athletics.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Hey, can we have a moment to be positive, Brandon asking, what happened, man? Like last year's team was so great. And I mean, so much of that 26-man roster is still around. It's weird. And we got better. We got better because we have Blake Snell now, show hay's pitching now. Like, we got better.
Starting point is 00:21:15 By the way, do you like that I'm wearing my 2020 World Series hat? I love that. I love that your hats backwards like it's supposed to be. The other day you wore it Bill Ford, we were like, what the hell is happening? I'm sorry, listen. So, yeah, no, I do like, I do like. My Dodgers Territory hat doesn't have a logo on the back. And I will say I'm happy that on fair territory, sorry, on foul territory, they made Prisinski his hat with the logo on the back, which I had to do also with my personal hats as well for my All Dodgers show.
Starting point is 00:21:43 Listen, take care of us hat backwards, boys. That's very, it's a really good idea. I never, I never thought about that. See, you know what? See, that's why we need to be all inclusive, like inclusivity right here on Dodgers territory. I never even thought about that because I usually don't wear my hat backwards. but anyway yeah i mean i think yes to your point max muncie is a massive piece to this puzzle and that's okay um that's neither here nor there he's not here right now so we've got to we've got to pick up the pace
Starting point is 00:22:08 um it was a shitty series it is what it is it's bad series yeah uh richie with a 999 super chat thank very much richie saying this is no longer a slump it's a total choke job non-competitive at bass listen richie he needed a good crash out we haven't had voicemails on my channel for a while Richie needs a good crash out. Saying poor bullpen performance, no life. If Dave could bench tail and call him out, where's the same for Conforto? It's September.
Starting point is 00:22:37 Yeah, I mean, he kind of, he wasn't asked about, he's been asked about Conforto a lot. By the way, I had also, because Richie, Richie commented this also on our Twitter pages. So I had that one ready to fire off, but he gave us a super chat to get that one on the screen. So we appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:22:56 Listen, right now, I don't disagree. I don't know. It's not a choke job. They're just not, they're playing like dog shit. That much I can agree with. They're not choking, though. I mean, I don't know. Bases loaded nobody out in the second inning.
Starting point is 00:23:11 Nothing. Twice. Well, the second time they loaded the bases, at least in the third inning, there was two outs. There were two outs, I think. I don't care. You can't leave a village on base. Like, you just, not against this team. Like, you've got to take advantage.
Starting point is 00:23:26 of any opportunity. There's still a Major League Baseball Club, whether you want to believe it or not. But again, I'm looking at the standings right now, two and a half game advantage over the San Diego Hodries. it's only two and a half.
Starting point is 00:23:40 I thought it was three. Well, I mean, I can refresh it. Maybe it had an update. Yeah, okay, yeah, two and a half. You can refresh it, but it's as far as I, as far as I see. You're right, you're right. You're right. You're right.
Starting point is 00:23:52 I mean, there's that. Potter's a lot four in a row and we've lost two in a row. Yeah. Padres, by the way, I mean, talk about a crash out right there. They lose their ace, like one of their ace relievers and Jason Adam. He's done for the year. I know. Probably done for next year with a blown blood.
Starting point is 00:24:06 Well, they lost Xander Boggards too. And then, yeah, they're starting shortstop. Who the Dodgers fixed back in, like, June or whatever was out for at least the rest of the regular season. Like, I said this on last Monday, I think, or whatever. I said this last week, and I still stand by it. Like, I'm not worried about the division and the Padres anymore. I think at knock on desk. I am if we get them in the first round.
Starting point is 00:24:33 Well, I'm talking about just the division. Winning the division, getting crowned that. That's another thing. I mean, that's, in my opinion, I feel confident that's going to happen. Where I am worried is I need that first round by for this team. They need to leap frog the Phillies again. And now they are, what, two and a half games behind the fight and fills for that second seed in the National League.
Starting point is 00:24:56 I need to have it. Got to have it. I know that you've said that you need, I'm looking at my phone because I'm just texting Matthew Moreno. He is our guest tomorrow. I just want to confirm that he can be. Do you,
Starting point is 00:25:10 you had said you definitely want the buy because you want the break. Yeah. Do you care if we start at home? Is there any advantage of the seating in your opinion? I mean, yeah, the Dodgers, generally play better at home. But when it does come to the postseason,
Starting point is 00:25:30 I really do like the way in years past that they've played on the road. Also, let me get the chat back up on the screen for us. We know Dodgers fans show up loud and proud at other stadiums. So that does work in the Dodgers favor. Well, I just really want to, if I have my piece and cues about it, I want to avoid that short and wild card series. That's the type of thing that worries me. Three games.
Starting point is 00:25:52 All right. season ends today who do you fear who do you fear the most if season ends today who are they playing is it cubs doesn't matter it doesn't matter doesn't don't look it we're not talking in reality here if season ended today who do you fear the most man that is that is tough like just national league should we stick just national league yeah yeah we're not talking to world series right now um jr says fillies yeah it's got to be the Phillies i said the Phillies like two months ago Or is on the P. J.R. pickup team.
Starting point is 00:26:26 You're all over the map. Wait, hasn't Yon Duran been kind of booty for them, too? I don't know. But you know what I said the other day to Chris when I was watching the Phillies game? If you're going to come out to that fanfare, every single time you come out, you better freaking shove. You better never give up a hit or an earned run for the rest of your existence. If that's how you're going to come out.
Starting point is 00:26:54 That's just absurd to me. I mean, I think it's fun. From a fan, it's from, like, you know, like Edwin Diaz and the Tommy trumpets and all, whatever the hell. That was fun. And Johann Duran, that's fun too, but my word, you got to think pretty freaking highly of yourself. And then if you come out and get lit up like a Christmas street, that just doesn't match. You know, I, I, baseball is weird how they've done that. I do wonder if he was a part of that.
Starting point is 00:27:19 I think there was a story about, you know, his whole Duran's walk out there in Philadelphia. They had it ready pretty quick. I'm pretty sure they had some semblance of an idea. I don't know if he had that going on for him in Minnesota. It's a lot. Oh, no, that's exactly where it started. It started in Minnesota like that. I, like most people, don't watch a lot of Minnesota twin baseball.
Starting point is 00:27:41 Burn. Give me back to the good old days of welcome to the jungle and a few lights flickering because you couldn't turn the stadium lights on it off back in the day because it would take forever. And then there's a drone and Kiki doesn't feel. safe and all these sorts of things that happened. That was one of the funniest interviews ever. But like, I mean, even like when Trevor Hoffman would come out,
Starting point is 00:28:03 remember back in the day and then like all the stuff by Hells Bells and Mariano to Metallica, I mean, that was, again, whatever. I digress. We always get off the rails on the show, but whatever. We appreciate you guys hanging with us. But again, like, if you had to pick a team right now nationally. Philly's. It's still Phyllis.
Starting point is 00:28:19 They scare you the most. Yeah. They got some slug. They got, they got Butane on that team now. postseason Walker is always going to scare me. Sure, you want Wheeler instead, but they have Walker. Yeah. I think it depends on what Aaron Nola does too.
Starting point is 00:28:36 You know, how. But that's the thing. Like, I feel so goddamn good about this Dodgers ball club. We just need them to get Max back and pull their heads out of their asses and play better, more consistent baseball. You know, Maddy Mad said much earlier in the chat, they look bored. And I can kind of co-sign with that. This is the team.
Starting point is 00:28:53 I mean, but you know what? Speaking from experience, and again, I am not trying to say that I'm a major league baseball player, but you guys for 20 years, I went through that rigor of that schedule. I did that every single day for 20. I was, well, not exactly 20. I was with the Rockies for five. I was with the Dodgers for seven. So that's 12 right there.
Starting point is 00:29:12 But then covering it on Major League Baseball Network and around, I mean, I've been doing this for 20-something years. That grind is real. You cannot, you cannot get up every single day and go, you know, balls to the wall. every single game for a hundred. It's just not physically possible. There's a pill for that these days. Hey, listen, back in the 70s, they let them, like, crush greenies in the coffee.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Bring back greenies, baby. Bring it back. Well, I mean, I didn't say that. Clinton said that. But the point is, like, you can't be amped up every game. You just, it's impossible. It's impossible. It's impossible.
Starting point is 00:29:47 Your body physically does not do it. Yeah, Miguel Rojas said pretty much almost the same thing over the weekend. We talked about it. it on my other show that I it's an excuse i don't not a big fan of excuses it's also a very reasonable excuse is like in so many words he said look we have things going on our life uh it's hard to have that 100% razor sharp focus day in and day out and we as fans have stupidly high expectations of these men going out there to entertain us for millions of dollars that said
Starting point is 00:30:21 watching the way the team is playing right now i can understand why people are very very, very upset and why they're concerned. I'm not as concerned about this team when it comes to the postseason. I still have a decent bit of confidence. I just don't want to watch this anymore. No, but we won't. This is not what we're going to be watching in the postseason. You don't think they're going to be fired up for the postseason.
Starting point is 00:30:41 My only concern is like if they get, if they get beat in the postseason, it's because it was a better opponent, not because of lack of effort or lack sedesical at bats. Maybe it was better, you know, it was a bad matchup, you know, in favor of the other. team, not the daughters, but it's not going to be for lack of want to. There's different reasons why you lose and why they're losing right now is very different than why they would lose in the postseason. Yeah, no, that's fair. Why don't we take one more quick break and then we're going to come back and still hang out with the chat. So bear with us, gang, we'll be back. We're throwing a curveball at you this week for our arena club segment as AJ has opened up a Pokemon slap pack.
Starting point is 00:31:20 Did that how you say it? Pokemon. Don't ask me to say what that card is, but what's doing with that card? I already sold it. Are you kidding? Back, baby. I bought it, and then I got more money than I paid for the pack, so I sold it straight back. You bought it for $2.50. You sold it for $2.99.
Starting point is 00:31:39 And you can go get yourself something that you maybe know how to pronounce. Yes, or know what it is. I just did it because I saw certain people opening in Pokemon, and they were making money, and guess what? I got lucky. Made money off of it, too. Exactly. But of course, if you're into sports cards, that is something that you can find a ton of on the Arena Club marketplace, buy, sell, slabpack, trade.
Starting point is 00:32:02 20% off your first slab pack or card purchase can be had at ArenaClub.com slash foul and use the code F-O-U-L. That's ArenaClub.com slash foul and use code F-O-UL. Hello, hello. I'm Malcolm Gladwell, host of the podcast Smart Talks with IBM. I recently sat down with IBM's chairman and CEO, Arvin Krishna. And I asked him, how can companies use AI to its fullest potential to create smarter business? My one advice to them, pick areas you can scale. Don't pick the shiny little toys on the side.
Starting point is 00:32:38 For example. If anybody has more than 10% of what they had for customer service 10 years ago, they're already five years behind it. If anybody is not using AI to make their developers who write software 30% more productive today, with the goal of being 70% more productive, so we are not asking our clients to be the first experiment on it. We say, you can leverage what we did. We're happy to bring out all our learnings,
Starting point is 00:33:12 including what needs to change in the process, because the biggest change is not technology, is getting people to accept. that there's a different way to do things. To listen to the full conversation, visit IBM.com slash smart talks. We're back and to hang out with everybody for a few more minutes here
Starting point is 00:33:37 on this Wednesday evening. Dodgers lose, and I have a button ready to fire off for that one, and it's, oh no, we suck again. Pets, heads are falling off. That's something you always say. Look at this. Carl, first of all, Carl, this is never going to happen.
Starting point is 00:33:55 Is there a clearance sale on Dodgers tickets? No, bro. I don't care if they lose 162 games. There will never be a clearance on Dodgers tickets. I'm trying to find Carl here. Let me pull up Carl real quick. There he is. There he's getting some love.
Starting point is 00:34:11 No, that's with Shoehai and Deepak. That is. That's Joe Hay and Deepak. He's a very good boy. More of our super chat friends that we have missed so far, 300 GJW, also with another 199 super chat, saying that Alex Freeland needs to stop Stop striking out looking. Yeah, the kid has
Starting point is 00:34:28 been racking up the case. I think at one point they said he had something like 14Ks in his last or I don't know. I think a lot, too many strikeouts is the point. So immediately Max Muncie makes that spot better. The runner on second,
Starting point is 00:34:45 this might be a Pittsburgh fan. I don't know, but it says... The runner on second, okay. The runner on second congrats on a 10-year playoff drop and high draft pick Pittsburgh. Oh. Okay. Okay.
Starting point is 00:34:58 Yeah, no, no, it is a Dodger fan, I believe. Either so. Thank you for the super chat. And yeah, Pittsburgh, they've got to be flying high right now, winning a couple of games. Dr. V, earlier in the chat says Spin it, guys, spin it, tell us how we shouldn't be mad or disillusioned with this team. Chalk it up to it's not our year. We are tired and uninspired. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:35:15 It's not our year. Would you stop? Dr. V, come on. We are tired and uninspired. Dr. V, I think you. you need a nap, perhaps you're tired, my love, and uninspired. We're going to be just fine. Stop.
Starting point is 00:35:31 Eventually. Just give it time. Give it time. Girkin, which is a pickle for 99-superchat. They would have scored more runs today if they didn't swing the entire second inning. Yeah. I mean, Andy Pah has struck out on ball four, a full count ball four. I don't remember what Freeland did, but anytime Freeland keeps his bat on his shoulder is
Starting point is 00:35:53 probably a better decision at the moment. Dr. V also said for $2, there's no switch to flip. The electric bill wasn't paid. What is Jason Diamond saying? My season tickets won up 13% and it's not our year. Stop being delusional on it. When did I say season ticket prices were going down? What am I being delusional about, bro? I don't know what we're talking about. That we have a positive outlook on this team eventually being better? They're going to be. My God, they have a two and a half game lead in the division. We're going to win the division again. And then the whole season reset.
Starting point is 00:36:32 Stop. But they lost today and we have to be mad about that. That's fine. We can be mad, but I'm not delusional. You're delusioned. The last one we had in terms of super chat from the Daxon dude. Let's see. Why?
Starting point is 00:36:48 Dachshund. I tried my best. Daxooned. Why does Edmund need to get healthy? in order to drop Conforto. We have too many sub 200 batters getting playing time as is. Enough is enough. And yeah, I mean, between him being in that lineup, again, wasn't in there today, which was pleasant.
Starting point is 00:37:09 Alex Friedland in particular, hopefully Dave is true to his word and says that Alex Call is going to get more opportunity in left and in right because Alex Call has put together a decent little run since joining this team. And I'd like to see him continue to get those opportunities. Yeah, he has. I figured out why they said I was delusional because I, my, I'm delusional because that this team is going to win the, I never said the team was going to win the world series, Jason, at least not in this show. Okay. Listen, these people tell you, we appreciate the hell out of these people. What do you mean,
Starting point is 00:37:46 you people? Well, any, any final words of delusion or wisdom for the crowd here is? No, here's a thought for the road. And we were, I presented this to you earlier. today has nothing to do with this game. Oh, yeah. So Shohei Otani hit the hardest hit ball ever. His most recent home run as a Dodger was the hardest hit ball ever by a Dodger player. For a Dodger, yeah. For a dog.
Starting point is 00:38:10 120 miles an hour at the bat. 120 miles off the bat. That sounds scary. 120 miles an hour off the bat. That's insane, right? So if you happen to catch that home run ball, okay, and there was a price tag, yes, it would hurt you. It would hurt.
Starting point is 00:38:23 There was a price tag. associated to the return of it. Let's just say, right? Let's say for whatever reason, that was the one Show Hey wanted back. That's not gonna have it, but let's just say. For conversation sake, what is the price that you would, what would you want in return for that particular ball?
Starting point is 00:38:41 The hardest hit ball ever by a Dodger player. What I would want, what I would ask, I would get the team all together and say, I want you guys to go out there and win a World Series if you want this baseball. Okay, that's not, something that is manipulation. That's not quantifiable.
Starting point is 00:38:59 That's not quantifiable. You need something that you can like tangible that you could touch like half. All right, but in the words of Cousin Eddie and the original National Lampoon's vacation, about $50,000. As long as you move the tenement on wheels off of my driveway. Three-fifth I'm going to take a tank. Cole gets it. Cole, gets you a minute to get you a quarter of a tank in California.
Starting point is 00:39:23 It is not. If you live in California, bro, you're still going to be parked in your parking lot. Today's edition of I caught up baseball, can I retire? Alex says, Merry Christmas. Shitters full. It's the best movie ever. Oh, gosh, so good. Good.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Dr. V had another one. When you say it like that, Alana, I mean, I guess I feel better about it. I do need a nap, though. Look at that. Take a nap, Dr. B. You're going to wake up tomorrow. You're going to be refreshed. You're going to feel so much better.
Starting point is 00:39:51 It's going to be great. It's going to be a good time. And we will be back again live tomorrow at 12. noon here on Dodgers territory. Three o'clock, what is that, Eastern time. Join us. We think our friend, Matt Lorraine is joining us. He was in.
Starting point is 00:40:06 He is in. He just confirmed. He is in. Cool. Of course, so you guys know him from Dodger Blue. Dodger heads here on the YouTube. He'll be joining us.
Starting point is 00:40:12 And maybe he has an idea of why the Dodgers sucks so bad. But the final super chat, 499 from I will flip you the bird says love Tia, Alana and cousin Clint. Appreciate you. We love you too. All right. I appreciate you.
Starting point is 00:40:25 I will flip you the bird. All right, you guys. Thank you for being here. Yes, don't forget to subscribe, like all the things. Rate us five stars. Go to Dodgers Territory Shop.com. Clint and I will be back tomorrow. Good night, y'all.
