Starting point is 00:00:29 I've been hearing for decades that the markets can solve climate change. Today, we have more incentives for market solutions than ever and emissions are rising. On this season of drilled, Carbon Cowboys, the story of three market solutions colliding in one multinational boondoggle. You got to get a moot. Listen on the IHeart radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Hi, it's Chelsea Hanelor from Dear Chelsea this season. We've got some awesome guests ready to dole out advice. Guests like Adam Scott.
Starting point is 00:01:08 How does that make you feel? Did I look like Tom Cruise? First of all, do you think? Do you think? Do you think? Do you think? I'm sorry. I started the sentence first.
Starting point is 00:01:18 I think you? Do you? Portia Williams, Sarah Borellas, Tiffany Haddish, Anna Farris, Carrie Russell, Kristen Johnston, and more. Listen to Dear Chelsea on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. Can they still win the series?
Starting point is 00:01:39 Sure. But Alana, this game did not instill any confidence in me. What up, everybody, and welcome to another post-game edition after NLCS game two. This is Dodgers territory. That is Clint Paseas. I am Alana Rizzo. Katie Wu is on her way into the clubhouse to discuss what is another back-to-back loss from our Los Angeles Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Wocky Brewer's taking it to the Dodgers, putting them in a very unfavorable position as they come back to Los Angeles a day off tomorrow, but now the Dodgers have an O and 2 hole. This was a fugly effort all the way around from Los Angeles. Not a well-played game for a variety of reasons. Clint, I would love your opinion. I got some thoughts, Alana. I got some thoughts. Guys, sound off in the comments first.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Everybody's going to have thoughts about this game. the Monday of baseball games. Listen, I said at one point to myself during probably, it was like the fifth or sixth inning. I was like even if they did win, they had no business winning this game. They did not deserve to win this game. Just a shitty effort up and down, top to bottom. I'm talking about from the bullpen up to Dave's decisions here, some of them. You couldn't buy a shutdown inning.
Starting point is 00:03:09 Yamamoto had basically nothing. The Brewers gave the Dodgers much more than they earned in this game. I didn't like the boo bitch decision in the fifth inning based on hashtag matchups. I didn't like Brock doing it up down there. Bad, bad game. Dodgers looking like they're, I don't know, they're playing dazed and confused. They got a bad brain day, woke up on the wrong side of the haunted mansion's bed or whatever that hotel is out there. Can they still win the series?
Starting point is 00:03:41 Sure. but Alana, this game did not instill any confidence in me. I still think they can do it, but yeah, the confidence has wavered. How are you feeling? I mean, if you're just going based on statistics, they've put themselves in a horrific position, right? You just hope, and I talked about this today with, by the way, Steve Mason, Mason and Ireland gave you a shout out today, and Dodgers territory a shout out today on the show because I was having a conversation with them, earlier and I said, listen, you can deal with losing to Jacob Mizorowski.
Starting point is 00:04:17 Their ace, likely the Sy Young Award winner in the National League. If you take one when he's on the hill, you feel pretty good, especially if you're on the road. But this to me, in my opinion, and what do I know, this was a must win game for me, because now you go back to Los Angeles, which you're glad you're going home, but now you have to win four of the next five. The brewers only have to win two of the next five. So statistically speaking, you have put yourself in a massive disadvantage. There's a lot of things and a lot of reasons that this game did not go the way of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:04:51 So let's start with Yamamoto. Okay. The Brewers did a tremendous. There's a couple of things here. And guys, as Clint mentioned, we want to know your opinion. Keep it. You don't even have to keep it clean, but keep it respectful. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:04 I want to know your opinion on what you think was the kind of the bugaboo of. of this game, your overarching thought about what happened in this game. For me, it's a couple of things. When you look at Yamamoto, kudos to the Brewers for making him work. I mean, he was, he threw what, 78, 79 pitches in terms of two and two thirds innings. This, that is, that is an unbelievably desperate outing. This is a guy.
Starting point is 00:05:30 Now, that being said, the other side of what I'm saying is that there's a situation there where Will Smith, I really believe, wanted to challenge several pitches and didn't do it because it was early in the ballgame. And there is CJ Nikkowski, who does a tremendous job covering the Atlanta Braves and was on foul territory the other day, said, you know what, why do we make the challenges limited?
Starting point is 00:05:57 It should be unlimited challenges because these guys are fearful of using them at the wrong time. Like, Mookie Betts in the first inning challenged, right? but you have to be one billion percent sure that you know the, you're in your mind that the call is right. So it's like Will Smith didn't challenge that caused, excuse me, Yamamoto to throw a ton more pitches. He didn't.
Starting point is 00:06:21 His splitter was not right. And you know way more about pitching than I do. But his splitter didn't look good tonight. He didn't have it tonight. The Brewers forced the issue. I'm sorry, but Jake Bowers was a guy that was going to hang up his cleats. I mean, he's been a journeyman. and he had the absolute at bat of his life,
Starting point is 00:06:39 the walk of his life. And then it just, it kind of just steamrolled from there, right? It was the domino effect. You take Yamamoto out of the game. You go to the bullpen. Everyone's wondering why Dave decided to take Sasaki out when he did. I looked up and Tanner Scott is pitching in the sixth.
Starting point is 00:06:57 Something has gone awry if Tanner Scott is pitching in the sixth. It's just not, it was not a well-played game and it starts with your starting pitcher and Yamamoto, God bless him, he just did not have it tonight. No, yeah, again, two and two-thirds. You can't plan for that.
Starting point is 00:07:15 You don't expect that out of your ace, a guy who has been absolutely nails for this team over the last few years, particularly the last two, also fantastic on the road. Like you said, they did a great job of making them work. They spoiled a lot of pitches, but he just did not have the swinging
Starting point is 00:07:33 miss going today, did not have that split finger. Like you mentioned working for him. I think he only ended up with four whiffs in this game and one strikeout. That is not Yoshinobu Yamamoto. And I don't think it was a situation where, you know, the moment was too big for him or something like that. You and I were talking before going live here about the home crowd absolutely helping the, you know, the brewers out for sure. I don't think that was necessarily what affected Yamamoto. He just didn't have his best stuff. Weird start time as well, a 5 p.m. start time or two, sorry, 4 p.m. start time in Milwaukee, two, here in L.A.
Starting point is 00:08:07 Yeah, just didn't have his best stuff. Yeah, you can't worry about that, though. I don't care what time a game is, or what time the game is, I don't care where you are, I don't care what the weather is, I don't care what the wind is doing. I don't care any of that shit. I don't care. I don't care.
Starting point is 00:08:22 I don't care. Like, both teams are playing in the same crap, right? And I, you know, I just feel like, and Yama's been better on the road. So it was like it was okay to have him in game two on the road. I get that. But he just did not have it tonight. And every single time the Dodgers scored, the Brewers came right back. So it was like the Dodgers would punch.
Starting point is 00:08:42 And it wasn't even like a sexy punch. It was like an errant throw, you know, like a sack fly. It wasn't even anything that was like, oh, wow, this is like, you know, we're really feeling like our offense get going. But however the Dodgers score and I will take it, the Brewers came right back and scored and answered. And that's, I don't know, like that's just what you need to do. you're going home down 02. And again, I like our starting staff
Starting point is 00:09:08 versus the remainder of their game three, game four starter. But remember, Blake's Dell and Tyler Glassnow have not pitched well so far in their, at least they didn't in the DS. I'd expect them to have bounce back outings. But you would expect with Terrick Scouble and Yoshinobu Yamamoto on the hill for games one and two, you were at least coming home with one win,
Starting point is 00:09:30 at least with one. And now you're down 02. Music you love. I heart radio. Your favorite radio stations. Everywhere you go. The podcasts, everyone's talking about. All in one place.
Starting point is 00:09:42 And it's free. I heart radio. Whatever you want to hear. Listen anytime. Anywhere. Music, radio. Podcasts. Unlimited audio.

Starting point is 00:10:05 You're not incurable. You're not broken. You're having a new. normal human experience and we have a solution for that. And that solution is our show Free Therapy. I'm Ben and I'm Kevin. And we think everyone could use a little bit of therapy, including us. Absolutely. That's why each week we sit down with a different therapist to talk about the things we're all dealing with. If you're trying to get rid of anxiety, you're actually fueling more anxiety.
Starting point is 00:10:32 We talk to some of the leading therapists in the country about all of life's headaches, work, family dynamics, and of course, dating in relationships. Everyone chooses a different set of problems, challenges, flaws. You have to figure out which set of problems you're willing to work with. So listen to free therapy with Ben and Kevin on the IHartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Because therapy is expensive, but our podcast is free. Whether you're stepping up to the starting line of a marathon
Starting point is 00:11:05 or just trying to take the first step toward a big, scary goal, The conversation in your head is usually the same. Do I have what it takes? I'm Emily Abadi, and on hurdle with Emily Abadi, we dive into the grit, vulnerability, and mindset that fuels our greatest comebacks. I talk to elite athletes, Olympic champions, industry change makers, and everyday runners about how they face self-doubt, redefine success, and keep moving forward when life gets heavy. I'd just love to say, I never know who's watching.
Starting point is 00:11:33 So you want to make sure you, you through and through, and you just stay true to who you are. Yeah, your path might change because different things come on your path to disrupt it, but it's just putting you on a new path and the skills you have to have faith at the skills that you've learned and developed over time are going to continue to bring you success. When the world is burning and crashing around you, will you still say fight for your dream? Will you still say it's possible? Will you still believe you're a good person? Can you still see the brighter side of tomorrow?
Starting point is 00:12:00 It's motivation, real talk, and practical wisdom for life on and off the run. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app. podcast or wherever you get your podcasts. Yeah, you got to take one of these two in Milwaukee. You gave them a lot of momentum in this particular game. And you do mention, you know, just a lot of not clean baseball. I told you before we went live. Like, Mamas don't let your babies watch this game if you want them to know how to play
Starting point is 00:12:31 baseball because I'm not just shitting on the Dodgers here. It was a poorly played game for both sides here. you saw the moment get a little too big for Logan Henderson throw a couple of balls away. And that's how the Dodgers were able to score. I had tweeted one of the 800th times that they could not hold a lead and couldn't get a shutdown inning. I was like, can we buy a fucking shutdown inning here? I'm a little upset that nobody bought like the, nobody clocked the buy it part because of the Dodgers and they buy, you know, championships and all that kind of stuff. But yeah, no, they couldn't.
Starting point is 00:13:04 And by the time you got to the fifth inning, it's like nobody really deserves. to win this game. I mean, at least by the time you got to the eighth and ninth inning, particularly the ninth inning, the Brewers were putting together a little bit more of an effort there, cleaner effort, better effort off of Edgaro Henriquez, who you would prefer to have not ended up in this game. Yeah, I'm sorry, Rebleski ends up in this game late,
Starting point is 00:13:26 which, where was he? Where was Robo earlier in this game when you realize that your starting pitcher was done after two and two-thirds innings? Again, this is where we come. back to you. I'm seeing people. I'm hoping some folks are joking in the chat. A little throwback owed to the Fire Dave Roberts era.
Starting point is 00:13:45 Enough. Enough with the fucking Fire Dave, right. He's one of the best managers in the game has been for over a decade. He's on his way to the Hall of Fame. Shut it up. Shutty. Not a great name. Shutty. For nobody. For nobody. Shutty up with the Fire Dave Roberts. Let's have a
Starting point is 00:14:01 conversation. And I feel like I feel like I kind of owe Kyle Tucker Napalty because I was clamoring for Kyle Tucker to be moved down in the lineup. But I was also clamoring for Will Smith to be moved down in the lineup and Dave moved Will down. Kyle Tucker has six hits in this postseason. So I don't know if I'm just like assuming that every time Kyle Tucker is at the plate, making 60 million AAV that he should hit a home run.
Starting point is 00:14:27 But at least the man is getting hits. At least the man is getting on base. We just, I say we like I play. collectively the Dodgers collectively the Dodgers just don't look good and again I know that there is not a way in the world I will be signed to the 26 man before the Dodgers bent Shohei Otani but he does not look good yeah yeah he doesn't look good he's a shell of himself he's not the he's not the offensive proverbial threat that we're used to sing yeah um You know, for Shohei facing good pitchers, absolutely. That is a factor for him so far in this postseason. But, you know, after today, I don't know, I kind of got a jump ship on Shohei. I feel like, I feel like I don't want to feel like I've been lying to everybody and saying that
Starting point is 00:15:25 Shohei is eventually going to figure it out because I, like, all the positive vibes and faith at this point is just not earned for Shohei Otana. He's looked bad. he's taken at times some pretty decent at bats but we're talking about like a better a stretch of like a better a stretch of at least two months two and a half months where bro has struggled and you know you can move him down into the four hole you can move him down to the five hole six whole whatever it may be he's still going to play a factor and again while it's not just him because will smith hit behind him didn't do anything today munsey another you know poor effort on his part didn't
Starting point is 00:16:04 get on base. It's not just on show hay, but if the offense is supposed to ride, supposed to run through show hay, it's making it that much more difficult. I wouldn't say it's a poor effort. I would say it's a poor result. I want to be very careful with that. That's fair. I don't think that they are not trying.
Starting point is 00:16:25 I think that the result just isn't there. But for me, I don't know. And I want to know your opinion on this. I can honestly say, like, when I was still covering the Dodgers on a day to day, Shohei was still an angel. So I was not with LA Dodgers, the Los Angeles Dodgers of Los Angeles. I was not with them when Shohei was a Dodger. So I don't know what it's been like on the day to day, but is this a situation of because Shohei is who he is, and he's the face of the sport, not just the face of LA, and you give him a $700 million
Starting point is 00:16:57 contract, and he can deal with, he can deal with $2 million a year because the amount that this man makes an endorsements is redonculus. Is this him being selfish? Is this is this a situation where they don't think that they can sit him because of who he is? Or is this legitimately a situation where he is, they look at the big picture, the larger body of work and hope that there with five games left, there is enough time for him to at least get back to a semblance of who makes him so great. I mean, what do you think?
Starting point is 00:17:38 Again, I don't know, but I'm wondering, like, if this is any other dude that is 0-4 August, September, October, you're probably going to say, you know what, my man, we're going to go ahead and just have you come off the bench. But you can't do that when it's Shohei Otani. And I don't know what the answer is, but I'm wondering, again, if sometimes this part becomes bigger than the sum when it shouldn't be. I can understand it to a degree. To the question, I don't think this is a selfish thing from Shohei.
Starting point is 00:18:15 He could be unselfish. He could, you know, I guess you could say, for lack of better word, fall on the sword and be like, look, I am not it right now. Give me a day off. Put DePaula in there because bro is earning it. He's putting together fantastic. at bats. Has three played appearances this postseason.
Starting point is 00:18:37 Two walks has looked really good. And that's the only spot where you could obviously play him is at DH because I have a conversation about getting him some work in the outfield. That's in the offseason. It's worth noting. So at this time a year ago, heading into game three or actually, yeah, heading into game three, Otani was worse last postseason. He went in game two against Milwaukee.
Starting point is 00:19:01 He went one for five was hitting a buck 47. After today's game, he's hit in a buck 40. Game three, he went one for four, got his average all the way up to 158. And then he had the three hit game. It did take him a while to wake up last year. Yeah, but he also wasn't like missing, like his bicep wasn't jacked up, his knee wasn't jacked up. Very fair. I mean, like, I don't know what is going on with him.
Starting point is 00:19:27 Yeah, he's. I don't think he was as, I don't think he was as hurt last year as, he seemingly is this year. And maybe he's more hurt than they're letting on. And I wouldn't put it past the daughters because they're very close to the vest with injuries. And I can respect that. But again, I've said this a thousand times he's a shell of himself. And he doesn't seem, you know, before like, O'Shohei Otani.
Starting point is 00:19:48 And oftentimes, like, it would be the first pitch of the game when he was in the leadoff spot that he could immediately make a difference as the first batter of the game. And you get to Shohei. And by the time you get to Muki, you're already down one nothing. he doesn't have that presence right now. Do I feel like he'll get back to that? Sure, but I need this now. Do we, though? Do we, with what we've seen.
Starting point is 00:20:10 Somebody needs to hit. Yeah. Somebody needs to hit. We're down to, too. Somebody needs a hit. I don't know that we feel like he's going to get there right now. My hope is, my fingers across. I'm praying to every deity that will help us here.
Starting point is 00:20:27 You know, Jobu, whatever. it takes. If it is a fuck you, Jobu, I'll do it myself situation. So be it. I will be at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday, so maybe my mere presence will help them out. That's fine, but we're not, I will tell you this right now, we're not sacrificing any live animals and we're not sacrificing any chickens. Fair. Nope. We're not doing it. We're not doing it. But I just, regardless of our feelings, and me, you, the entirety of the fan base, the Dodgers, I feel, are going to maintain that they will live and die with Shohei Otani. If he's not hitting, so be it.
Starting point is 00:21:05 And again, it's not just him. Look at these, hold on. I got to get the right screened up here. Look at these averages. Top down here. That's the pitching side. No, no. And I want to be very clear.
Starting point is 00:21:17 We're not in the position that we're in for the last few years without Shohei Otani. Absolutely. And it's certainly not just Shohei that is struggling. My point is right now, nobody's hitting. Will Smith is not even at 0.050, you guys. I mean, like, this is a little bit, this is a little bit silly, right? This is scary. Tucker is it 300.
Starting point is 00:21:41 Yeah, that's another conversation. He's your best hitter right now. He needs to move up. How Tucker is your best hitter in the postseason? Tuck needs to move up in the lineup. I don't care. He's hitting for tomorrow. I never, I never thought we would say that this season, that Tucker needs to be moved up.

Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Looking at some of the chat. Chat is going wild tonight.
Starting point is 00:24:42 We appreciate you, or this afternoon, whatever. We also appreciate everybody being here during Monday night football as we are live. If it helps anybody to some degree, you guys know that we're riding with. Cali or Cali is riding with us this offseason. Dodgers are down but not out. The numbers aren't looking too good right now. I think the numbers have actually changed. Milwaukee has a 70% chance to win this series. Put five bucks on the Dodgers. I think you win like 11 or whatever. So it's not necessarily a great bet. Find some other or a great trade, I should say. regardless of that, I like the Dodgers with their backs against the wall.
Starting point is 00:25:26 I like the Dodgers because they have been here before. Alana, I think back to the 3-1 deficit against the Braves in that 2020 postseason. We'll have more of a conversation about this. I'll wrap up to let people know with our friends at Calshar. You guys can try it out if you're interested. Download the app. Use code baseball to get $55 added to your account. instantly from them being here riding with us on the foul network this postseason so do check
Starting point is 00:25:57 it out scan that QR code or click the link in the description but yeah we've seen them in these situations before down 3-1 against the Braves they I forgot at one point you know well shit we can go back and look at the the Padre series that got us in trouble in 2024 how did we feel after that game three it was not a good good feeling, not even slightly. But did we go into the pot? That was a five-game series, was it not? Yeah, it was a five-game series.
Starting point is 00:26:26 It was the DS, and we did not go down O-2. I thought they went down 2-1 in that series. Pretty sure they did. 2-1, not 0-2. Well, still. I mean, I guess it's the same thing. I'm saying, the whole point about the back against the wall sort of mentality, this team can scratch and claw and fight their way.
Starting point is 00:26:48 usually the experience of this club shines through right now. I don't know. They just, they looked lost. They looked lost all game. They were able to capitalize on some, you know, in some moments, some of those throws, but I don't know if it's so much capitalizing or having things handed to them from the brewers and not really contributing. This is a team that needs to go home.
Starting point is 00:27:12 And I overuse that where it's like, oh, maybe they'll be better at home. Maybe they just need to get off. Maybe they need an off day. But here's the thing about this, though. This is a team that has played really well in the regular season on the road, but this is also a team that sucked with runners in scoring position, and that during the regular season. And that is continuing into the postseason.
Starting point is 00:27:36 I don't know what it was tonight, but coming into this series, they were two for 22 with runners and scoring position in the postseason. Yesterday, they were one for six with runners in scoring position. It's like, not only do you have to get, guys on, you have to bring them home, you know? So it's like, it's not so much like playing on the road. I mean, the Dodgers, you win 100 and whatever, what do they win, 100 and 100 games? They won 100 games. Obviously, you're winning a shit ton of games on the road, too. But you know what?
Starting point is 00:28:04 Milwaukee won 103 in the regular season. So they win at home and on the road. And this to me is a team, a Milwaukee team that just doesn't care. They're not the underdog anymore. Yes, do they have a Well, the three of the four teams that are left in the postseason have ridiculously low payrolls, which only goes back to what I've said, 59,000 times that spending money doesn't guarantee you championships. It guarantees you a birth probably in the postseason, and it guarantees that you get really good players, but it does not guarantee World Series rings. They just don't seem afraid. And tonight was another illustration of that for Milwaukee, because like I said,
Starting point is 00:28:40 every time the Dodgers scored, Milwaukee came and punched right back. So you figure they have to, like, they're like, all right, we're going to go home. We have a two, or excuse me, we're going to go on the road. We have a two game advantage. Even if the Dodgers win the next two, then you're tied. I don't know. I just feel like I said going into this series, Dodgers in six, that means the Dodgers have to win the next four games.
Starting point is 00:29:05 I don't know if that's going to happen. I still think the Dodgers win it, but now this bad boys going to seven. Yeah. And, you know, I did on my all Dodgers channel, which, by the way, the boys are live right there. I'm going to jump over to the channel after we're done here. Might give myself a chance to breathe so I can go back to being upset. But I specifically dropped on Saturday a whole video letting people know the brewers are good. The brewers can beat the Dodgers. This is how they beat the Dodgers.
Starting point is 00:29:33 And I laid out a few keys for the Dodgers. It's like, yeah, get their starting pitching out of there. They've done well with both of those so far, getting Henderson out early, getting the Miz out early. You've gotten plenty of looks at their bullpen, but it's also capitalized on things that are given to you. They, I don't even know that they have capitalized because, again, yesterday, that game was terrible. You leave, well, you get six walks, seven hits, and you got to do more with that. If you have that many base runners, you need to do more. And this circles back to, there's a kind of theme in the chat, something that maybe we all didn't address.
Starting point is 00:30:14 enough or didn't give enough stock to over the final couple months of the season. But the offense was bad. The offense really did struggle with runners in scoring position, with grounding into double. They led baseball. All season. In double plays. It letting into double plays. And you're seeing this series so far.
Starting point is 00:30:34 It's just two games, but they're two ugly games and they're two important games. And if you lose two more, you're done. These games. They're not done. There is no way that this team is done. It's not, it's not been pretty. It's not. They're not done.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Wait, hold on. Is it, like, does it reverse? Do you need to have an even amount of crossed fingers for it to count? Like, so if I have three fingers crossed, does it, does a three, does an odd number, guys, let me know in the comments below. Does that offset? I'm crossing all of it. Like, like, we're doing the eagle pose and yoga. Like, I'm doing all of it.
Starting point is 00:31:10 I'm doing all of it. This is where we're, yeah. You got any superstitions? You even got some stitions. Lay them out there right now, guys, because the Dodgers need some help. I do want to get into the chats a little bit. We got some super chats, and then we will eventually come back, look at Wednesday's game. We also are going to be live tomorrow afternoon.
Starting point is 00:31:28 I believe at 1 p.m. myself. Alana, Katie will be joining us who will have a pulse of this team in the clubhouse. I hope she has a pulse. Well, she also might have a pulse. She's dead. Who's more dead? this offense or Katie Wu, too, me and to find out. I appreciated this thought from John.
Starting point is 00:31:51 John said that what he loved and appreciated about the Brewers fans is they cheered. Let's go Brewers, not beat L.A. I have to say, I was born and raised. What the fuck am I talking about? I lived in Wisconsin for three years. And I know that whatever that guy's name was yesterday that we blocked out of the chat because he was super crude and disgusting, was saying that I was a traitor.
Starting point is 00:32:13 He spelled it like I worked at Trader Joe's, not like traitor, like actual traitor. Like I was bartering versus being a traitor. Yeah. Wisconsin has really, really nice, wholesome fans. They're good people. They're kind. They're respectful. Like, I don't want the, I don't want the Brewers to win this series.
Starting point is 00:32:35 But if the Dodgers happen to lose, which I don't think that's going to happen, I want the brewers to go all the way. They're kind human beings. Wisconsin's a great place. they love their fans. So they're good peeps there in Mila Waquet. I lived in Madison, but they're good,
Starting point is 00:32:50 they're good human beings. Have not been. And they're right. Yeah, like, let's go Brewers, not beat L.A. So. Yeah,
Starting point is 00:32:55 I love that because usually every other town, every other city, every other sport, it's about beat L.A., beat L.A. So very tired. My, my brewers appreciation
Starting point is 00:33:05 have not been to Miller Park, have not, you know, been to Wisconsin. It's not Miller Park anymore. It will always be Miller Park. Amfam. Amfam field.
Starting point is 00:33:15 No. Like out of here with that. It is Miller Park. I don't care what they say. You've never tailgated at... Dodger Stadium is also Dodger Stadium. No, I have not. But I have tailgated at the whatever they call it.
Starting point is 00:33:26 I think it is an American family type field thing in spring training. At Mesa. It is Mesa. No, they're not in a... Oh, my God. Oh, my God. We know where they're at. Maryvale.
Starting point is 00:33:40 Mary Vail Ballpark. That's what it is. some of the nicest people like me and the boys we get together every single year and and we here we are we got a bunch of people one guy's wearing a cubs uniform we got like three people in dodgers gear we're just drinking tailgating and they're like hey you guys want some dogs you know like you want some food they're very nice they're very nice nicest people very good people yeah good humans for sure we're upset i'm i can only imagine i'm afraid to look at the chat to see how upset they are that we're uh glazing up milwaukee fans The music you love. I heart radio. Your favorite radio stations. Everywhere you go. The podcasts, everyone's talking about.
Starting point is 00:34:21 All in one place. And it's free. I heart radio. Whatever you want to hear. Listen anytime. Anywhere. Music, radio, podcasts. Unlimited audio.
Starting point is 00:34:31 It's on the free IHurt Radio app. Let's go! One app. No subscription. Always free. Grab the free app. I heart radio. Video app today.
Starting point is 00:34:46 You're not incurable. You're not broken. you're having a normal human experience, and we have a solution for that. And that solution is our show Free Therapy. I'm Ben. And I'm Kevin. And we think everyone could use a little bit of therapy, including us. Absolutely. That's why each week we sit down with a different therapist to talk about the things we're all dealing with.
Starting point is 00:35:06 If you're trying to get rid of anxiety, you're actually fueling more anxiety. We talk to some of the leading therapists in the country about all of life's headaches, work. family dynamics, and of course, dating and relationships.
Starting point is 00:35:43 Whether you're stepping up to the starting line of a marathon or just trying to take the first step toward a big, scary goal, the conversation in your head is usually the same.
Starting point is 00:36:11 I'd just love to say, I never know who's watching. So you want to make sure you, you through and through, and you just stay true to who you are.
Starting point is 00:36:37 Can you still see the brighter side of tomorrow? It's motivation, real talk, and practical wisdom for life on and off the run. Listen to Hurtle with Emily Abadi on the IHeart Radio app. Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts. A couple of other points before we get ahead to tomorrow's game and then we'll come back and make sure we get all of the super chats and everything. There's another part to this. Sean Allen, 999 super chat.
Starting point is 00:37:03 Thank you very much. We appreciate the support. We've talked about the DePaula for Otani. We didn't really talk so much about the Hunter Feduccia and Will Smith. If it ends up being Robert Gasser for the brewers on Wednesday, you won't see Hunter for Dusha. I think that's who's going. I think it's a,
Starting point is 00:37:22 I think it's Snell Gasser. Yeah, yeah, it should be. But the other part is, and you did mention this, but I kind of want to explore it a little bit more, should Roki, could Roki have pitched two innings?
Starting point is 00:37:35 More so, should he have gone two innings right there? I think at that point, you need to tear up any sort of script you had for him when Yama goes two and two-thirds. Yeah, he looked great. I think he could have gone out there again. I mean, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:37:49 I mean, I always feel like, and Dave, I trust. I'm putting that on my tombstone. But I am. I love Dave. He's a good manager. He's going to love him. Today was not a great game for him. It wasn't a good game from anybody.
Starting point is 00:38:04 I, hold on. It wasn't a good game for anybody. Let me add. Let me add. It wasn't a good game for him, but I also don't think he went out there and told them all, hey, can you just like shit on this bed? If he did, it was a fantastic game for him. him because they really bought the message.
Starting point is 00:38:19 Because that's what they did. Again, I don't think it's effort. I think it was just execution. And I will say this. I just, yeah, Roki looked really good. So at that point, because Yama was so, such a quick hook on him because he was not effective, see what Roki can give you to extend the bullpen a little bit.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Because now, I mean, you had Vessier, you had Sasaki, you had, you know, you had Brock Stewart, you had Tanner Scott necessarily, not necessarily in that order. I understand that. But again, in a 7. game series, you're hoping that you can preserve your bullpen. But I mean, to be honest, and to be fair, it's not like Logan Henderson went deep into the game either. So they had to use their bullpen too. It's just their bullpen was like wicked effective. I mean, it's like,
Starting point is 00:39:01 obviously Ashby and, you know, like they looked really, really good. That bullpen was formidable, but so is ours. Irribi was locked in. He was absolutely. Abner Arriba. What a name. What a name. Abner Arribi. I love it. Yeah, that is definitely an name. The chats are definitely having some issues with Mr. Otani. We want him to sit. I guess this is Gaddi Ordonez, if I'm reading that wrong.
Starting point is 00:39:32 So look at Otani after the shoulder injury, World Series 24. Offense was cold and Otani was cold. And then JDP was on offense. They went on that small run in September. When he did hit the IL, he was good. JDP was good. And again, I would love to see the world, the reality where we are able to see how the team, how the games would play out if Otani was on the bench and, you know, DiPaula was in the game. But I just, I don't think we're going to see it.
Starting point is 00:40:01 I really do know. I mean, but listen, I don't, but honestly, even if we sat Otani, I love Hosewede de Paola, but we know that he can give you a walk. I get that. right and he's like super animated and you can give you a walk he can give you a knock okay joe is saying try him in game three and see what happens uh joe dollar 99 super chat show had seven pitches to hit wasn't close on any and and that's where you know to kind of focus in a little bit more on that there were some some fastballs i really feel like show hey healthy show hey gets to that logan henderson threw him he was late on some 94s
Starting point is 00:40:43 up in the zone, not even exceptionally up in the zone. He was laid on some 96 up in the zone. Showe Otani, when he's right, he's sending that. He's sending that up to, I don't know, they got like that. That is my point. Shohei Otani is not right. I guarantee you this man's having off-season surgery on something, on some body part.
Starting point is 00:41:04 Yeah. Because I think he's been trying to play through this since August. I mean, the man has not hit a home run in three months. Yeah. that's insanity this is this is a 50 50 dude yeah like you just kind of like you kind of run into one at that point if you're that talented you just kind of run into one and he hasn't so something is not something is truly not right ran with that injury played with that injury for too long and i think he just got into such bad swing habits trying to compensate for it and and yeah he's probably
Starting point is 00:41:35 still feeling something feeling some sort of twinge in the body while he's swinging so it's bad spot bad spot for show to be in um and it's also it's also exacerbated just because nobody else is hitting either right i mean freeman doesn't look great uh you know no what no one is no one is capitalizing no one's getting on no one's capitalizing with runners in scoring position kyle tucker has six knox but it's just it's not enough will's not done a ton free free my guy Kyle tucker move him up move him up in that lineup hey let's uh we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna come back and do more chats and everything. Apparently a longer show than we anticipated.
Starting point is 00:42:15 We had a lot of things to say, but we've got to look ahead to that game three on Wednesday. We're going to do it with On Deck, presented by Fox One. Game three. Yes, we appreciate on deck presented by the Fox One app. Game three, it is at 6 p.m. Pacific, which is 9 p.m. Eastern.
Starting point is 00:42:34 It is on Wednesday. It is on FS1. It is the probabilities are looking like this. It is Blake Snell versus Gasser. Okay. So we need, in my opinion, again, you know pitching way more than I, but I can tell when a guy doesn't have it. And Blake Snell did not have it in his first outing of the postseason.
Starting point is 00:42:53 So what do you need to see from Blake Snell right, I would say off the bat, but right out of the hands? It's so difficult with Blake Snell because even when he's right, he's still going to be given up walks. He's still going to have his free passes kind of issued there. He's not a big contact guy. He's not. What I really, really, really need to see out of this dude is a clean first, or at least a scoreless first. I need to see command.
Starting point is 00:43:27 You need to see him have some semblance of command with the fastball early because the change up will almost always play. Hopefully having the home crowd there, great start time at Dodger Stadium. The weather should be nice, not too hot, not too cold. I think all things really stack up for the Dodgers. I also think, you know, I'll go back to what I said. I think this is, even with as ugly as this game is, I think it's going to be not a happy flight,
Starting point is 00:43:56 but a good flight home because, you know, they got their two separate planes. I think the players are going to have, they're going to have some time to have conversations about, like, how do we get this right? You know, let's, let's, what are the, what are the conversations? If I knew, if I knew, I'd probably be a lot more, a lot more well off in terms of my pocketbook.
Starting point is 00:44:16 But it's about just playing smarter. I think there was a point where the game started speeding up on them today. After like the fifth inning, the game started speeding up on them. You saw them chasing a little bit more. They were absolutely chasing Slug. Max Muncie got real big, real big on some swings in there. Find some grass. Like kill them with paper cuts.
Starting point is 00:44:37 I don't need to see home run. I don't need to see Slug. I need to see. I need to see them hopefully get and hold a lead for Blake Snell or just keep tacking on leads. So that's what I think the messaging will be. Like, hey, let's do we know, we are the Dodgers. We are back to back. We are still champs, as my friend Jeff Spiegel says.
Starting point is 00:44:57 Like, find a way to win this game. And I think from there, the avalanche effect, the snowball effect for this team takes off. I think they're too good to be this bad. It's a fact. Yeah, they're just not hitting collectively. Let me ask you this question because this was a conversation I've had with several people, that it's like some folks think that you guys like how dressed up I get for the show. Some folks think that.
Starting point is 00:45:24 There's usually a lot of things happening. Yeah, some folks think that the brewers seem like they want it more. And there might be some truth to that only in the sense that it's been 180 billion years since they've won a World Series. Okay. They have won a World Series, but it was a long time ago. And like their fan base is craving this so much, whereas Dodger fans, we've had the luxury and the privilege of really having so much success for such a long period of time. And I'm not, and this is not to say that the Dodgers don't want to three-peat. This is not to say that the Dodgers don't want this.
Starting point is 00:46:00 But it just seemed like the crowd was like living and dying on every single pitch. And I hope that when we go home and we play. on Wednesday that our fan base and our crowd shows up because I know for certain having been in that ballpark as long as I have, the players feed off of that. And even though you have multi-time MVPs and World Series champions and all stars and all of the things, they still want to know that their fan base is behind them and they still want to know that you guys care. And I think that's really important. Okay. So like, be loud. Show up.
Starting point is 00:46:44 Let's do this. Like, we're not dead yet, right? This is, we're the fucking Dodgers. Let's go. Period. I love it. Dodgers to the moon in a good way, in a good way. In a good way.
Starting point is 00:46:56 Right. Right. Right. Right. And up and up into the right for the Dodgers. Yeah. I think it is imperative. It is on, you know, issuing here a mandate to Dodgers fans, to Dodger Nation, if you will.
Starting point is 00:47:09 you got to show up. You got to be loud. If things go a little wonky, a little sideways early, stick with it. Don't lose it. Don't lose that energy. Don't lose that focus. Do it for Venn. Do it for Riz.
Starting point is 00:47:23 Do it for Micah Johnson. Not me. Do it for VIN. I'm not even in the same conversation. Do it for Clayton. Look at it for Gwain. Over here, this guy. There he is.
Starting point is 00:47:34 Do it for us because we want to get to a World Series. We got more post-game shows in us. And you guys, they'll be able to watch all of those games on Fox. M-LBA on Fox is streaming on Fox 1. The postseason is here. You know this. The NLCS is here. And they have your light, sorry, they have your front row seats to the wildest walk-offs.

Open the free IHR Radio app. Search video podcasts and tap watch. I said we got some more chats. Let's get into a few more chats.
Starting point is 00:48:44 You would be shocked to know that our friend Richie has some thoughts. I'd love the laugh on that one. Richie. 999 on the super chat. No. Oh, he's actually paying this time. Normally he just throws it in there like, I don't have any money for super chats. And here I am.
Starting point is 00:49:02 I'm going to have to hear about that one. But Richie, and what's funny, he's probably in like three other show chats right now as well, at least. And in like a Brewer's show chat. He's probably on Brewer's territory right now. But Dodgers were consumed by the environment. It was all self-inflicted. How can we keep Otani at DH because, or how can we keep him at DH? Because his name is Otani.
Starting point is 00:49:22 Will Smith, not challenging is beyond me. They wanted out of Milwaukee. Definitely agree they want out of Milwaukee. And they hope they get a chance to go back to Milwaukee. A lot of people, rightfully so, have issues with the lack of challenge from Will Smith. And you'd mention, were we talking about that here? We're talking about that here or before going live. There's one easy fix about like unlimited challenges.
Starting point is 00:49:49 Just get the fucking call right. They have the ability to immediately get the call right. Go full ABS if you want instead of having challenges. I don't give a shit about the human element of an umpire if you are able to challenge him and gamify the thing and then sell the fucking thing to Team Mobile or whatever. I don't give a shit about that. How about just get the call right if you have the ability to, in a split second? You know, shove a buzzer up the umpire's ass so he knows it's a baller or strike.
Starting point is 00:50:18 Oh, man. Depends on the end. Now we're getting violent. By the way, I wanted to. It's 40 minutes into the show. The Brewers have not won a World Series. They went in 1982, which was the Harvey Wallbanger's year. So I apologize.
Starting point is 00:50:32 I wanted to, I wanted to correct myself on that. Yeah, I don't know. The challenging thing is challenging. And because you don't want to waste them all in early on. You're figuring like, okay, the further we get closer to 27 ounce, now is a better time to do it. I think that's the problem. Like, do you trust yourself? Do you trust your gut?
Starting point is 00:50:55 Are you afraid? I mean, I think we could all, if you think about just challenges in life, if we could just go through life, like driving or going through a job interview or whatever, going to the grocery store. And I'm like, should I do this? imagine doing it in real time I do by the way really really really matters well it's not in stuff that really really matters but me and my friends we're idiots
Starting point is 00:51:17 and we do that kind of stuff where it's like hey you know you're an idiot and somebody else will do this so at least we got that no one's challenging you on you're an idiot everyone agrees everyone agrees wow all right so Clint and I are back tomorrow at am I hitting the music yeah 1 p.m. Pacific 4 p.m. Eastern,
Starting point is 00:51:38 where we're going to preview, there's no game tomorrow for us. There is an ALCS game, but not for us. We will preview game three. We anticipate it being Blake Snell and Glasser, Gasser, Gasser, Gasser, Glasser. Gasser, Gasser. Gasser.
Starting point is 00:51:51 Bobby Farts. Robert Gasser. That's right. Yeah. Bobby Farts. Joel Trudge, we appreciate you. Oh, Latino Slant. Dodgers will win Wednesday.
Starting point is 00:52:03 I agree. Dodgers will win Wednesday. He's going to be there. Buena Switth. That means good luck for those that don't know. Yeah. I don't know. You know, I don't speak Spanish. Oh. Pocket rude boy, 499 super chat. However, this playoff ends, I write with my Dodgers preach, buddy. A lot of anger in the chat is for folks not growing up with Vin to reassure them have faith. Amen. You guys, listen, we've had our back against the wall before. It's going to be great.
Starting point is 00:52:32 It's going to be great. We'll see you guys tomorrow. Live 1 p.m. with Katie. Bye. I've been hearing for decades that the markets can solve climate change.
