Starting point is 00:00:25 Concerned about your gambling or that of someone close to you, visit connectsontario.ca. Lisa, tell them about our new show. We have a new podcast. It's called Don't Lie to Me. I'm Lexi Youanu. We're two best friends, 22 years apart, but so close at heart. And I'm Lisa Di Giulio, the old one, which means we have wildly different references, occasionally different opinions. And at this point in my 50s, I've lived it all.
Starting point is 00:00:49 Now in my 30s, being the founder of new shoes, good taste is my business. Listen on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. Start listening to Scam Goddess on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcast. But it really kind of puts a lot of the pressure back on the Dodgers and coming into the DS. It seemed like the Dodgers had the advantage strictly based on a starting pitching matchup. I came to a live brand new episode at Dodgers territory. Lana Rizzo, Clint Paseas, Katie Wu with you on this Monday afternoon.
Starting point is 00:02:02 Good to be with you guys. Katie was not with us last night on postgame. She was obviously in the clubhouse with the team and all of the things. So Katie, your impressions of kind of what went to. down there and where does this team go from here i think uh dave robert said it perfectly after game two uh they got their work cut out for him and it's a three game series and you definitely think back to game two which i'm sure will break down even more than you guys did yesterday uh the lack of offense i honestly thought it was a pretty well managed bullpen game from both sides but
Starting point is 00:02:33 some teams got a score and it was the braves who did that uh but it really kind of puts a lot of the pressure back on the Dodgers and coming into the DS, it seemed like the Dodgers had the advantage strictly based on a starting pitching matchup and the ability to rest their starters compared to the Braves coming in off a wild card series that took three games. They had virtually no pitching. Now it's all square. And you have Yoshobi Yamamoto versus Chris Sale tomorrow. And then you have arrested Tyler Molly against arrested Tyler Glass now for game four, which will be necessary. And there's just something about a game three or a three game series that I feel like it's so hard to predict.
Starting point is 00:03:11 So we'll see, I'm not pressing the panic button all the way on this Dodgers squad. It seems that they have to have a division series drama every year. But I will say, you know, there's going to be a lot of thinking back as to how they've rolled out their pitching for game two if they should have gone Yamamoto earlier. And more importantly, what can they do with the offense to make sure that they can score some runs outside of the home run ball? Yeah, yeah. You got to see the bats wake up.
Starting point is 00:03:38 You've got to see them. They're getting runners on base. We know this. They're very good at finding ways to get guys on base. And we saw this for a long stretch while they were playing like crap earlier this season. They can get guys on base, but you need to complete some innings, something that Dave Roberts talked about a whole bunch. Finish off some innings. Use different clubs to find different parts of grass in different situations.
Starting point is 00:04:03 I'm not saying they're all up there taking daddy hacks and whatnot. but, you know, read a situation and you got to get some more runs home somehow, some way. Because it turns out, Riz, this is breaking news. You need to put more points on the board than the other team to win. Yeah, I mean, that's a good formula for sure. One thing, too, and Katie, I want to get your opinion about this too. You like the way that both managers, Weiss and Roberts manage the bullpen. Do you think, obviously hindsight is 2020?
Starting point is 00:04:31 I understand that right now. But do you still think it was a good decision to go with? Blake Snell in game two. You have Yamamoto going in game three tomorrow night. Again, hindsight, so he's 20-20. Are you still okay with that decision? Blake Snell was going to pitch in this three game or this five game series, excuse me, once. And we know that. We knew that Scoobo Snell and Yamamoto were going to get a turn at some point. But I, you know, talked about this with Clint on the show before the series. I'm a big believer in your best pitchers pitch. And Yoshinoi Yamamoto is their ace. And you wonder just based on
Starting point is 00:05:04 matchup. And I know. that the Braves did not announce that they were going to go bullpen game up until right before, you know, Sunday morning. So again, hindsight 2020. But personally, would have rather had Yamamoto, and this is no disrespect to Blake Snell will get into that, I would rather have had Yamamoto against a bullpen game with an opportunity to go up to O into the series and you just got to win one on the road. It felt like that could have been a steal of a game for Los Angeles. And Blake Snell, when he is on, he's one of the best left-handed pictures. in the game.
Starting point is 00:05:37 But I think there was right to be some concern over how rusty he would be. He pitched just five innings over the last two and a half weeks. Based on that groin tightness that we saw in Cincinnati was not sharp at all yesterday, 90 pitches to get through three and two thirds. You want your ace pitching as much as possible. Yes, Yamamoto is probably the guy that you want going against Chris Sale. But if you're trying to stack up wins in this series and you have an opportunity to go Yama versus the Braves bullpen, yes, they have to score.
Starting point is 00:06:05 and I know this team does not have a good track record scoring, especially in Yamamoto starts. But I just feel like the optics of having your ace go again would, I think, really increase the odds of winning that game two. Now, like Dave Roberts said, it's a best of five series. It's best of three series now for sure. Yeah, I have a hard time taking the stance I want to take on this, which is Yamamoto should have got the baseball for game two. but I also said ad nauseum for the better part of two months, it doesn't matter which order you put these guys in. If it was Yama game one, scoble game one,
Starting point is 00:06:44 if it was Snell game one, in the moment it's the right decision. Now we have the benefit of hindsight. And let's be fair, Blake Snell did not lose this game for the Dodgers yesterday. It was the offense or the lack thereof for this team. He left three and two thirds and had one run allowed. So, like, again, it wasn't great. And yes, that's set forth in motion. As I said last night on the post game, you know, it was, it was, sorry, I got distracted
Starting point is 00:07:11 by our chat here. And set forth in motion, all these other guys who kind of pitch, had to pitch out of position, out of where they should be. I mean, Chris Bubbage coming in as early as he had to and all that kind of stuff. A wild pitch. Great at bat from, what's his name, Michael Harris, the second, all that kind of stuff. and it just didn't stack the Dodgers way, but still, at the end of the day,
Starting point is 00:07:34 it was only a three to two loss. I feel good. I still feel good, guys. I still feel good about where this team is at. Eating well shouldn't be complicated, but somehow it turns into recipes, prep, cleanup, and half your Sunday gone. Factor solves all that.

We use advanced analytics to help tell the story behind the game, turning the numbers into insights that every fan can understand and enjoy. Listen to NFL Pro on the IHeart Radio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast.
Starting point is 00:10:29 Yeah, I mean, that's why. what I was thinking too. We talked about it yesterday. It wasn't a blowout. And it wasn't as if the daughters got blown, you know, had their doors blown off of them. Everyone's questioning whether Blake Snow was the right decision over Yoshinobu Yamamoto. But Walt Weiss is dealing with the questions on the other side as well. It's easy to be, you know, Monday afternoon quarterback here. But Walt Weiss is still dealing with it. Why not start Chris Sale in Game 2? Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register just putting this on X moments ago that Walt Weiss explained the decision not to start Chris Sale in Game 2. If we have Sale in Game 2 and Game 5,
Starting point is 00:11:00 as people were screaming about. We saw it as you're getting a diminished Chris sale twice at that point. We wanted to get a full strength Chris sale, and that's game three, right? So that's tomorrow night's game. Then possibly impacting the game in Game 5, like we saw in the Philly series, that's what it came down to. We didn't want to have a somewhat diminished Chris sale twice because it would have been. It was regular rest, but he had the outing in between, and it just didn't make sense to us. In the end, yeah, as we sit here today, it's the best case scenario that we could possibly have.
Starting point is 00:11:30 win the bullpen game. That's the key right there, you guys. And now we have a fresh Chris sale ready to go. And Clint and I talked about this the other day when I said that obviously, when you have Terrick Scouble on the hill and the Atlanta Braves are starting a bullpen game, you absolutely have to win that game, especially because it's game one. It's a momentum series game. But the same thing had to be said for game two. Atlanta starting another bullpen bullpen game, not to take anything away from Kirk. He's been tremendous in the outings he's had so far for this Atlanta postseason, but you have to think if you have back-to-back-back-Sy Young Award winners bullpen game,
Starting point is 00:12:12 back-to-back-to-back-syeung award winner bullpen game at home, you better hope that you can take those two games before going on the road and hoping, obviously, for a win there at the very least. You know, if Atlanta gets game one, you still have another opportunity to get, or game three, rather, you have another opportunity to get game four. But here we are. Now they go back. And I guess you can say the momentum is in Atlanta's favor.
Starting point is 00:12:36 Yeah. Maybe. Yeah, it's this whole series. I feel like the Dodgers came in with the advantage because of the rotation. And now the series could be defined by starting pitching decisions and how both organizations look to match up their aces, if you will. And there is so much at play now with the first two games for the Braves. They were taxed.
Starting point is 00:12:57 That bullpen was gassed. and they found a way to do it again. And credit to the Atlanta relievers, what Didier Fuentes did was incredible. And I don't really think that we can pinpoint or pick apart too much of how Dave Roberts managed his bullpen. I thought for the most part, the believers did their job, the bigger concern for me,
Starting point is 00:13:15 especially knowing that you're going to go against a fully rested Chris Sale and a fully rest of Tyler Molley in game four is the offense. The Dodgers offense yesterday, 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position. They left seven runners on base. Every single run they've scored this year has come via the long ball, which is great because power plays in October, but you like to see them be a little bit more versatile with their offense. That starts with Shohei Otani, who has just not looked good.
Starting point is 00:13:41 I guess we can start with you. What are your opinions, your analysis on how Otani looks at the plate? My analysis, not good. Yeah, I'm not seeing a whole lot I like there. We got this video. Hopefully MLB doesn't get mad. at us, but this, this was just an awful, awful swing and kind of indicative of what we're seeing out of Shohei a lot so far in the series. He's expanding the zone. And Davis talked about it a lot
Starting point is 00:14:09 over the last three years when Show Hey is bad. He expands his own. He's trying to do too much, which is not the Dodgers way. It's stay within yourself. Try it to do too much. Move the ball forward, so on and so forth. Yeah, you need to see him find a way to lock in by either just, just staring, you know, picking a quadrant and you're only going to swing if a pitch is in. If anything's away, let it go. Just let it go right now. Find time or find some sort of good feeling on one side of the plate. And then you could start to, you know, force them to bring it back in because I don't know if he should be taking some more walks in the series.
Starting point is 00:14:48 But I'm not liking what we're seeing at a show, hey, and Dave saying yesterday as well, if you look at the bats, there's a lot of chase. it's hard to square up and put good swings on those balls that are out of the zone. So if we are circling, if we are flagging now two games into the postseason, a big concern for the Dodgers, it's a guy who was a big concern for the Dodgers in the second half of the season that is Shohei Otani. No doubt about it. I don't think he's had an RBI since the middle of August, right?
Starting point is 00:15:15 Like August 19th or something like that. I don't think he's had a home run since August 18. If we had a research department, somebody could check that for me, but we don't. But that's what I'm assuming at this point. It's been a long time since Shohei Otani has been productive, obviously, offensively. And you saw that swing that we just illustrated there with that video. And he's just completely out in front. He's completely flailing.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Clint, you had mentioned maybe take some more walks. I don't know that he has the plate discipline right now to take any walks. I just don't think Shohei Otani is comfortable in his own skin at the box in his stance. He's chasing, as Dave Roberts mentioned. Certainly Dave knows way more than I in terms of what Shohei Otani is not doing correctly at the plate. He just completely seems lost. And guys, make sure you read Katie's article in The Athletic about how, you know, this is coming down to the rotation.
Starting point is 00:16:03 It's now shaping up to be decided over starting pitching. You can check it out, of course, in the athletic and also on Yamamoto versus Sale for game three. Check her out. We appreciate that very much. As we move on here on Dodgers territory, time to talk a little bit about Andy Pahas. Yesterday, I said a little bit tongue in cheek. Clint, they should take away the ABS. opportunities from him. And Dave must have listened because they did. He was 0 for seven in terms of
Starting point is 00:16:32 his at-bat so far in the series. 4K's one walk. The walk was a good at-bat. However, it is a good call that he is now banned from the automated ball and strike system. What say you? What are we going to? Me or Wu? You? Well, yeah, I like that. That's the right call. Apparently he missed the fact that he still had the red light on from the regular season. Dave was not a happy camper when you saw that in game one. But still, I just had those numbers up. I'm going to go and throw them back on the screen. You have to wonder, you have to question whether or not the lights get too bright for Andy Pahas here in the month of October, because outside of kind of one big game, as you see, that 2024 NLCS game 5, where he had the three hits against the Mets, I think they actually
Starting point is 00:17:19 lost that game, three hits, two homers. I think it was a pimp job against Sean. Manaya who pissed him off. Since then, it has not been good. It has not been pretty and end up writing El Bencho in games, as we said last night, six and seven of the World Series last night because it was so bad. I'm looking right now, and Katie, I'm interested in your thoughts. I'm looking right now. You got Chris Sale on the bump tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:17:42 Lefty should be an Andy Pothe's situation in center field, but usually it's October, kind of Kiktober. I need to see Kike Hernandez in the lineup somewhere, whether it's at third base or whether it's in center field, I think we see Kiki tomorrow. Seriously, where has Kike been? I think it's been about the matchups. And I see Andy Pahez with all the respect to what Kike has done for the Dodgers. If you just take the overall body of work, the much more productive player for the Dodgers this season.
Starting point is 00:18:11 But there seems to be in the postseason a different kind of approach and not in a good way for Andy Pahas at the plate. We talked to Dave Roberts about it yesterday and asked if there was any kind of concern over Andy's performance just based on the quality of the bats that we've seen in October. And Dave said, you know what, a little. So when you think about Chris Sale coming in, you know, Max Muncie's probably not going to get the start. You know, you could see Miggie Roe back at third. You could see Kiki back a third.
Starting point is 00:18:37 I like the veterans coming in. Game three feels like a must win game. And I know every game in the playoffs is a must win game, but you cannot go down to one in Atlanta and lose a game that Yamamoto starts, regardless of who the Braves are throwing. So I can see Dave Robert switching things up. And this is a patient manager. He trusts his players,
Starting point is 00:18:57 but this is not the time to see if guys are going to figure it out. In two games, Andy Paix has not really shown the plate discipline that has led to his success. It looks like he's kind of pressing outside of the zone. I wonder if you can see Muncie off the bench, along with Osweid de Paula, and see maybe both. In Miggy Row and Kike Hernandez starting,
Starting point is 00:19:18 maybe you see the game six lineup where they push Tommy, to setter, you put Kike at second, McGee Rowe at third. Just try to stack your experience righties as much as possible against one of the best lefty pitchers in the game. Something to consider because Shohei's going to stay in there, Dave Roberts said.
Starting point is 00:19:34 So there needs to be a different kind of switch up with the other player pressing the most in my opinion is handy. Yeah, and I had said that last night a few different times, a few different ways for the people calling for DePaula over Otani. It's not going to happen. The Dodgers are going to win and lose with Shohei Otani.
Starting point is 00:19:50 in the lineup. That's just how it goes. I don't care if he's over his last 700. He's going to be in the lineup because it's Shohei Flippin'Otani. With Andy Pahez, you can kind of experiment a little bit. You can see what you can do lineup-wise. Obviously, I've mentioned before, Kalshi is a part of the run with us here for the three-peat. And I looked at one of the player props, just a little bit of something different here to see how people are feeling about Pahas, just to do anything you see on the screen hits runs rbi i just one one or more do anything right now that's trading do something do something it's trading it only uh 62 percent or whatever it is uh firmly i mean honestly for me i'm taking the no on that one uh by the way if you take the no at that price five dollars uh will
Starting point is 00:20:37 get you $11 and 92 cents if you're right but yeah i just i just don't see um i don't see Andy Pahez right now doing anything well outside of that again that walk and all that kind of stuff I don't see him doing a lot well and I think you need to find a way to get Kike in there a quick shout more about our friends at Kalshi if you guys are interested in trying it out you could scan that QR code download the app and use code baseball to get $55 added to your account instantly there's also a link in the description it is a peer-to-peer trading app it is not a sports book You're trading directly against other users, not the house. So public opinion sets in line, price moves based on where money goes.
Starting point is 00:21:19 But you guys don't want to hear about that. You want to hear that the Dodgers are going to win a baseball game tomorrow. I hope. It's going to be, listen. As a baseball fan, I wish I didn't have a rooting interest in the game tomorrow because, and we're going to talk more about it a little bit, but it's going to be fun to have Yolomoto, Chris Sale, on the bump. You look at other odds.
Starting point is 00:21:41 and lines and things. I mean, this is a straight-up pick-ham game right now. Nobody knows who's going to win. And I think that's fun. We could see a one-nothing shut out. Two-one game. I'm not looking forward to the anxiety of it. I would agree with you just because of who's on the hill. But I would love to see the offense get going. I really
Starting point is 00:21:59 would love to see, you know, not necessarily a laffer, but, you know, put some at bats together, move the line, you know? Like, this is, it's just so lackluster. And again, I know it's not from a lack of trying, but, I mean, it's just, it does not bode well moving forward. But I have to say, it's not just the Dodgers, by the way, that are not hitting.
Starting point is 00:22:17 I believe it was Alden Gonzalez, who has, you know, covered the Dodgers for a very long time and also, obviously, is now with ESPN as their main baseball reporter. But it's not just the Dodgers. Eight teams have played 12 LDS games, so National League Division Series games thus far. They're combined slashline 174, 277, 295. So, you know, again, not. that you care about the other teams. We care about the Dodgers, but it's not just L.A. That is really struggling as far as that is concerned.
Starting point is 00:22:49 All right, much more to come here on Dodgers territory on this Monday episode as we get ready for game three tomorrow between the Dodgers and the Braves. Starting point is 00:26:00 You know, scream, yell, cry. We're here for it. We can be your three therapists on this Monday afternoon. Let's start with the crowd situation first. So I remember, you know, everyone's saying, you know, L.A. always has terrible fans, blah, blah, blah, they show up late. They leave early, yada, yada, yada. It was 150 billion degrees on Saturday.
Starting point is 00:26:19 so I kind of give them a pass. I was a little bit more concerned with the crowd yesterday because it was, what, a 5 p.m. start in L.A. guys. So it just fell off. The vibes. Katie, you were there. The vibe was just dead, right? I mean, Katie, you were there.
Starting point is 00:26:35 What was it like? Yeah, game one, even though it was quite literally 150 billion degrees, I loved the vibe from game one, great anthem, great flyover. Bleachers looked a little empty on TV, but they were loud. They even did a roll call for dogs. I've never seen that at Dodgers Stadium before. It was active in the bleachers. I was kind of jealous.
Starting point is 00:26:53 I wanted to be double-fisting in there, to be honest. But some of us have to be professionals at work. I get it. And then I don't know what happened, game two. Even though it was a later start time and there are more shadows, I actually thought it was much hotter game two than game one. But I don't know if it was the way Blake Snell came out in the first inning, 27 pitches, a couple of walks.
Starting point is 00:27:13 But the way that he started the game just kind of took the air out of the stadium. And it never came back. thought that was weird because, yeah, they trailed the majority of the game, most all of the game, but it wasn't a blowout. It was a really exciting matchup in terms of the pitching. You had different pitchers coming in, and I know bullpen games kind of dragged. This one to me didn't because the matchups were so compelling. And the Dodgers were in it every step of the way. But it was really hard for this crowd to bounce back after Snell's kind of, you know, clunker of an outing. And then the offense going silent from the fifth inning up until the final strike in the ninth against
Starting point is 00:27:47 Didier Fuentes and company really didn't help at all. So the vibes for Game 2, not at all really what I expected. And I don't really want this series for the sake of our loyal subscribers to go 5 because I think the sanity there would be lack thereof would be insane. But I was surprised and not in a good way about the overall vibes of the atmosphere in game 2. I get the way that the game started was not ideal. But overall, it was a great baseball game.
Starting point is 00:28:17 not one that had, I guess, because the Dodgers were trailing and there didn't seem to be a lot of action. It was hard for fans to get back into it. But it was still, the postseason was still down by one, two runs max. And it didn't really feel that way. The vibes felt like they were down by 10. Yeah, especially after, you know, third inning, you get runners on. You can't convert. Fourth inning, same thing.
Starting point is 00:28:38 Fifth inning, same thing. By that point, yeah, you could almost hear a pin drop in there. And, Alana, you know in the past, I've taken some shit for it. I've given crap to the fans, deservedly so, because, you know, I'm not going to say PCA's right, even slightly, where, you know, where fans in L.A. show up to take their selfies or whatever. But when things don't go well, when things don't go the way early that fans might want, it takes something to get the blood flowing again for them, you know, to get the excitement kind of percolating, especially in an early, I don't want to say meaningless division series game for the Dodgers, but...
Starting point is 00:29:19 Well, it's not, it's not, it's anything but meaningless. 14 years in a row. 14 years in a row, because I could think back to that house, was a 2008 postseason Dodgers, Cardinals. It was the walk-off where Mark Loretta hit fly ball off of Mad Holidays ball sack in, field. You guys can quote me on this one. And that was, the place was rumbling. It was shaking. Now, granted, they had a lot going on in that ninth inning. But flash forward, a billion years later, it's just now, oh, the postseason division series, much like the regular season, it's a lot of ho-hum. And I don't know how you get the fans to stay involved outside of, you know,
Starting point is 00:30:05 scoring. A show hey, double would have fed generations. If you have to tell your fans to stay engaged and motivated. That's a problem. They do that plenty. How many times, Katie? How many times have you heard Katie Wu or Ken Jung or whoever else? Make some noise, Dodger fans. And I hate that.
Starting point is 00:30:22 I hate it. But I mean, every single. That was my Chris Tucker, by the way. The times, the amount of times I've had to hear, Dodgers fans, we can't hear you. I'm like, you know what I can hear? You know what I can hear? The thousand decibel level of things coming out of the Dodger Stadium speakers. So I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:38 I've been at Dodger Stadium twice where I was like completely taken. back by how loud it got. Obviously, one was game four of the NLCS last year of Shohay doing show hey things. And then the 2021 walkoff, Chris Taylor in the wildcard game against the Cardinals, that was the loudest I've ever heard Dodger Stadium. And granted, I haven't been there, you know, thousands of times, but I've been there a good amount. And I was surprised to see just what game two felt like. Clint, I think you make a good point. They, Dodger fans expect to be in the postseason. They expect to be in the DS and they expect to continue to go past this. So when you have a clunker of start for your starting pitcher and you see an offense that that's not, you know, producing quality
Starting point is 00:31:16 at bats and it's really hard to get back into it and you definitely felt to yesterday. One of the things, too, it might be is maybe they are taking it for granted. Another thing is maybe it's an economic thing. I don't know. I mean, it's, it's expensive, man. Life is expensive right now and gas is expensive and parking is expensive and tickets are expensive. Although I give the Dodgers credit, they did have very affordable, depending upon what is affordable. They didn't want to. Affordable seats.
Starting point is 00:31:44 Affordable seats available. I can guarantee you. They did not want to have affordable seats available for that game. Yeah. If it's $65 to park for the National League Division series, they're expecting $300 for a ticket. Yeah. Tickets were cheaper than parking.
Starting point is 00:32:01 I can't. I get it. I get it. There is a. And they're selling a $125 hamburger for some reason. Yeah, that's insane, by the way. I was like, is it? Is it like Wagyu beef and is it is the bun gold?
Starting point is 00:32:13 Should we get that? Should we get that for the show? Maybe Mark will be expensive. They, uh, I feel a show remotely at Dodger Stadium. They should bring that to us. But yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:32:22 Maybe it's an economic thing. I mean, it's difficult. It's a difficult time. Uh, but again, that the fans in the stadium, you're already there.
Starting point is 00:32:30 You've already paid it. So like, let's get, let's get a little bit more engaged, right? Have a few more, have, you know, if you can afford all that, you can afford two more tall cans that just bring you to,
Starting point is 00:32:39 better levels of being okay with public embarrassment. That's what this team needs. We can get there sober. We don't need tall cans. We're there. God bless us all. We did say at the start of this segment before we kind of took over and made it about us. I mean, I guess it is our show. And if you guys like it, hit that thumbs up button, subscribe, all that kind of stuff.
Starting point is 00:33:00 But into the chat, V-Track. He's in line with us much earlier. They're in line with us much earlier saying bench Pahez, consider benching Edmund. Both have great defense. neither are hitting. But nobody is. Nobody is. Nobody is sitting.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Okay. I do think the Edmond stuff is interesting. That's the, that's where you're going to see Hosewate de Paula. And I would have liked to see him in the seventh. I think if the Dodgers got a runner on in game two, we would have seen Hoseway take that at bat for Tommy. It was, welcome to the postseason. Hoseway Zapala, here you are down.
Starting point is 00:33:31 You need to score. Did you get on base? Two outs in the night. Go get them. But I honestly thought the, you know, the level of success, the percentage of success and that role was slim to none and you can't really evaluate a kid on one ad bat in the postseason. But I would have really liked to see him take the abat in the seventh, especially if a runner was on. And I think we would have seen that. But Tommy Evan, and I wonder if that played into
Starting point is 00:33:51 Dave Roberts' decision to bunt in the third. I'm not a fan of doing that when McGee Rowe is at second base, you know, he's a lot of things. Fast is not one of them. But Dave Roberts doesn't usually, at least in the regular season, we've talked about this. He's not a small ball manager. Rarely does he hit and run. He'll sometimes do a sack. front. I was curious about the timing there. I think that reflected more on how Edmund's feeling at the plate. And if you're going to get going to get late into a scoring opportunity, why not have Oswey DePaula take that at bat over Tommy Edmund? Because then you can deploy what the Dodgers do well with their depth. You can have Kike take over at second. I think Dave Roberts is comfortable
Starting point is 00:34:28 using DePaula and making it a three-player switch, you know, where it's something where, okay, we're going to burn DePaula and then we're going to put someone else and off the bench. I think he's comfortable doing that. Tommy Edmund is the spot for me. We'll see if that spot comes up. Again, it's going to be a little bit of a different bench component, if depending on what happens with Andy and with Max Muncie coming off the bench as well. But to me, Tommy Edmund is where you can see, I think, the easiest path for JDP. Yeah. All right. Next comment is from Ismail Sanchez, 3403. Thank you so much. Ismail for the super chat, five bucks. We appreciate you. If anybody finds the Dodgers offense, please tell them to report to seven.
Starting point is 00:35:07 755 Battery Avenue, Southeast, Atlanta, Georgia, 30339. I have to say, yes, number one, absolutely. Send them straight there. Also, the fact that Atlanta, that Truest Park, is at 755 is the coolest thing ever. Hank Aaron's home run number. I think that's so sick. I love that. Just those little details, that's something that obviously, it's just a cool thing.
Starting point is 00:35:33 You know the history of your organization and those types of things. Jana Marie Smith would do something very similar than, you know, like that at Dodgers Stadium with a lot of different things. You know, renaming Vin Scully Avenue a couple decade ago or whatever it was. I still think that should have been Vin Scully Way, though, instead of Vin Scully Avenue. Because it's like Vince Sculley's way. You know what? Anyway, what does it right? Semantics. All right.
Starting point is 00:35:57 What else do we got here in the chat? We appreciate Richard Flores. I am out of super chat money. But here's my take. Padres and Brewers are very beatable. The dog is biggest. The Brewers. Yeah, the Brewers look pretty good.
Starting point is 00:36:09 It's that simple. Yeah, I mean, Clint said it before. If anyone's going to beat the Dodgers, it's going to be the Dodgers themselves. So, yeah, I mean, that's, that's very true. Very, very true. That Brewers game, I tuned in at the perfect time. I tuned in bottom of the ninth, what? And at bat, do we think, did we think, uh, Mason Miller's tipping?
Starting point is 00:36:28 Yeah. It looks like, did you see South really like go to his, like go to his neck? Yeah. You know, obviously he was, uh, obviously. way more blatant about it at second base. I would be like, somebody who was also saying, too, that they need to,
Starting point is 00:36:43 the game and the sign stealing has evolved in such a way that the gloves need to start evolving to. Talk to him. There's a story for you, Katie. Talk to Mickey Betts about his new glove company and see if they're like changing the design of the glove to cover the freaking baseball better
Starting point is 00:36:58 when a guy's on second and relaying signs. Talk to their model after Roki. It's going to be like the Roki Express or something. You know what I thought was funny? We're watching the NLDS game between the Pudgers and the Brewers and the Press Box. Dodgers game hasn't started yet, so relaxed. And you heard everyone locked in on every at bat and the collective like, oh my gosh, I came from the press box when Turore when Trio came through.
Starting point is 00:37:24 And it makes me think, like, how much do Dodgers fans relish in how the Padres have lost these two games against the Brewing? Whether it's clanging a maybe home run ball off the roof or an out, or for whatever reason, Mason Miller, who has not been asked to do a six-out save since he was an athletic coming in and not, you know, balltering in the ninth. I don't know. I think Dodgers fans might be celebrating more than Padres fans are crying. And Padres fans seem to be crying a lot over the last two games. Justifiably so. If I was a fan of a baseball team and my team lost two games in the playoffs like that back-to-back, I would not be in a good place.
Starting point is 00:37:58 No doubt. That's a painful one. Losing with your best guy. And Dodgers and Padres fans, there's absolutely no love lost there. absolutely no. Speaking of, we got this. $2 for Nancy. Nancy.
Starting point is 00:38:09 Nancy knows. But hey, those, yeah. And we got another. There's your answer. Yeah. But hey, those podre, smiley face in there. Another $5 super chat from Nancy. We appreciate Nancy.
Starting point is 00:38:20 So Dodgers need to get pissed off. Hopefully yesterday did it. Angry win. Is that what we need? A little bit of an angry win in Atlanta. It was pretty quiet in that clubhouse when I walked in. And usually even after losses, obviously they were in the regular season. They're still like a little bit of like, hey, we'll get after.
Starting point is 00:38:35 we're going to be fine, but it seemed like they were angry. They did not take advantage of an opportunity, not in a panic way. Just like, all right, now we put ourselves a little bit of a hole. We've got to get out of it. Yeah. Our final chat is going to be from Latino Slant in the Super Chant variety, and it's going to be positive. So close.
Starting point is 00:38:54 Latino. Latino Slat. We love Kelly. That could be when I'm like, when I have a bad take, that wasn't Katie. That was Kelly. Yeah. Listen, at least it got the two ends of Rala. So if I had my sound board.
Starting point is 00:39:05 going, I would definitely mash that applause button. But yeah, you know, we've talked around tomorrow's game a whole bunch. Let's talk about it for real here with On Deck, presented by Fox One. Riz, take it away. Yeah, I mean, we talked about it, right? Chris Sale, we went over what Walt Weiss had to say about the reason that they're starting him in game three. Makes sense. They don't want a depleted guy in two times, so you're going to get the best that you can get from Chris Sale in game three. I think it's a great matchup. I love it. You know, I agree with Katie. I think this is a must-win game because you don't want an opportunity for Atlanta to finish it at home. I mean, you're glad, I guess, if you force a game five that you have home field advantage and you come back to
Starting point is 00:39:50 Los Angeles, but I don't even want it to get to that point. Yeah. Yeah. Did you see, so Walt Weiss today spoke to media, Katie, and he was asked a question about, is there, do you think about kind of flipping the order and saving sale for game four? And his response was, we've all had these questions. But yeah, we're not done talking. As we sit here, we're looking at sale for game three. Would they consider that? Because, I mean, you win a bullpen game in L.A.
Starting point is 00:40:20 It feels like you're playing a little bit with House money here. Would they... And you have two games at home. Would they honestly consider pushing Chris Sale back one more game? No, I don't think so, especially with Molly right behind him, who was not good as a giant, but who was this year. He's been the best pitcher of those traded at the deadline, including Scoobel since coming to Atlanta.
Starting point is 00:40:43 So if you have both of those guys rested, I think it's a pretty even matchup when you have Sail Yamamoto and then Glassnell, Molly. So, no, I don't think that. I'm looking at the transcripts right now before I head to the ballpark. I love ASEP Tech's time of year, baby. I love it. It's the best. What I miss on the plane?
Starting point is 00:41:00 Oh, it's right here. Well, I think we'll see Sale, and they're all planning for that as well. It should be Sale. Again, this is the defining game for me in the series right now, because once you go up to one in the DS, especially if you're the home team, it becomes a lot easier to wrap it up. The Dodgers, they love drama in the division series. It's a tradition unlike any other. Let's just keep it going. And hopefully you guys have a much more positive show tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:41:23 Alana, with that whole idea in mind, again, Chris Sale is advanced in his age for a professional athlete. and if they're still concerned, like if there was a possibility that if he felt right, he would have pitched yesterday, but clearly he woke up and told Walt Weiss like, yeah, no, that ain't it, bro. This is me paraphrasing. And they're saying he's still maybe not 100% tomorrow.
Starting point is 00:41:49 I don't know. Like, do you, do you think there's any sort of validity to him? Is this a little bit of gamesmanship, I guess, from Walt Weiss? Yes, it is gamesmanship. They don't have to say it until tomorrow. at the last minute. I mean, if you want to be, no, courteous to Dave Roberts and let him set his lineup, you do it earlier than later, but he doesn't have to.
Starting point is 00:42:09 As long as he's within the Major League Baseball rules, then he's fine. I think a lot of it, too, is maybe they wanted to sell to pitch at home. I mean, he's 21 and 5, 224 ERA, and 40 appearances, 38 starts at Truis Park. The Braves of 132 of the 40 games. So maybe that's part of the reason, too. You know, there's a lot of different things that go into it more than just, you know, like rest and and those types of things. You know, there is gamesmanship behind closed doors.
Starting point is 00:42:36 So listen, it doesn't matter who they throw. Dodgers got to start getting some hits. They're hitless and nine at bats with runners in scoring position. All seven of their runs in the series have come on five homers. Like they got to start manufacturing some runs, especially like Chris Sale against a guy like Chris Sale. So. Yep.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Yep. You need to play some small ball tomorrow. That's the plan. goal. Get some, uh, get some, uh, Ducks on, drive them in. 2-1 probably is your final. It's going to be a fun game. It's going to be great. It's going to be great. It's going to be great.

All right, guys, I don't understand how nacho is still available, but he is. He is, look at this big-headed boy. It is, by the way, October is Pit Bull Awareness Month. He's the sweetest little pitty mix. His skin is like butter.
Starting point is 00:45:00 He's so soft. He's such a good boy. He's healthy. He's happy. He's neutered. He's great with other dogs. He's great with kids. He's great with everybody.
Starting point is 00:45:09 He's being fostered in La Puente. So Clint's hometown, or at least where he lives now. And he just, he's looking for a forever family. Like I said, he's just a big old, like, big old-headed, wonderful little boy. So anyway, adopt him, please. Run, you know, just like hit up Kidri's Guardian. Hit me up on social. or whatever and I can get you more information on nacho.
Starting point is 00:45:32 His mom was already adopted about a month and change ago. So it's his turn. Yep. Get, get, Nacho and his big old, big old beefy nodding. His big old blockhead. All right,
Starting point is 00:45:43 we got a few more super chats here from friends here in the chat. We got Caesar, $999. We got a proper misspelling, but it was also a nice. That's the best best selling I've seen. Yeah. Lana, the best analyst.
Starting point is 00:45:57 We miss you. I miss you guys. Thank you. Follows up. with 499. We appreciate the support here on the show. Alana, go Dodgers, gut feeling. Do we still win this series? Thousand percent. Thousand percent.
Starting point is 00:46:09 Yeah. We also got a course correction from Latino Slant, Dollar 99, Super Chat, with still a misspelling, but it's all good. Kite, kite? We, listen, we need the levity right now, so we're not making fun of you. We just appreciate this. We're laughing with you, not at you. I imagine my day.
Starting point is 00:46:30 That's hilarious. And the final one from Juan Pasquale, $2. He says Kike, he's in the dugout playing Pokikemon. Pokiki-Mond. Is that how he says it? No. He just, one just insured a Kiki-based knock, maybe even an RBI tomorrow. I'm just totally going on a vibes that he's going to start.
Starting point is 00:46:51 I have no idea. We'll go talk to Dave in about 30 minutes or so, so I'll be sure to bother him with that. But my vibe right now is we'll see a Kikee start. Yeah. I hope so. Kikei needs to be in every single October lineup. Everyone. That's the problem. I don't care who he's facing. That's the problem with how good this team is. Like when we were talking two weeks ago about how do you get playoff at bats for Hosewade de Paola, how do you get at bats for Kiki Hernandez? Usually there is a clear path. There is a Michael Conforto path to him getting playing time. This year, it was less obvious.
Starting point is 00:47:25 Well, Latino Slant has just spent his mortgage on trying to get Katie's. he writes a super chat from him. Katie, I got it right. Let's go. Love it. You know, that's worth, that is worth firing up the, the soundboard here. There it is. A little man, man, man, in there.
Starting point is 00:47:44 Guys, we, oh, God, what did I break? I think I broke everything. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to hit the music here.
