Starting point is 00:00:00 action hello bitches hoes and everybody in between welcome to another episode of what am i wrong starring two people who have not once ever not in their lives ever been even to weave it wrong did you know in espresso when she says i'm working late because i'm a singer i thought for the longest time she was saying i'm a sinner because of the the only thing that's open late is hospitals and legs that saying and so i thought she was saying because i'm and you know she's always doing things like wait you're not so that makes so much sense you're not alone in that that's like a very common sentiment that a lot of people thought that that's what she said and i was like oh i don't really hear it but that's
Starting point is 00:01:01 probably you hear it and then also it's confirmed by the context of like what you would think so you're you're very not alone in that at all i hear that take all the time i thought it was being original no i mean i also know nothing about the saying like the only thing i think is the The only thing to open this late is hospitals and legs. A spare leg. Yeah, I feel like she would like that, though. I know. Too bad she can't do, like, a more explicit version.
Starting point is 00:01:27 She has to do, like, a clean version. Every time I play a clean version of her song, I'm like, I should really scream them ahead of time. But I'm like, what are we going to pick? Because my nephew will be scream singing it. And I need to make sure we're good. Yeah. I told you, she makes nasty music. And that's what I like.
Starting point is 00:01:43 I love when women make nasty music. Men? Oh my God, no. Unless you're singing about other men. I don't want to hear men sing about women nasty because it's not, well, there's their clarification. It has to be respectful. I'm okay with women singing disrespectfully about men. I am not okay with men singing nasty and disrespectful, you know? Yeah, but I disagree. Consentful disrespect. That's when I go, yeah talk dirty to him so this is the podcast where we talk and give our opinion and our thoughts and feelings when beds have not kicked in yet they will soon hopefully and yeah we've got three different segments we'll explain each one of them before we get into it but what you
Starting point is 00:02:26 need to know is we want you to vote we want you and your insights not just your listening ears or your eyes if you are watching the patreon we want to hear your thoughts and feelings why you think someone was in the wrong and all of that. So we do that on our Instagram stories. You can vote over on there. We have it organized based in the highlights. So you can click the highlight. And if it's not there, then maybe it isn't up yet.
Starting point is 00:02:51 You can always send me a DM if it's getting close to the following Thursday. And we love to hear from you. And we read those on our Tuesday episode. See you next Tuesday. So shall we get into our first segment? montay i think we should megan this is but am i wrong this is when we talk about things that are going on in our life it could be a rant it could be personal experience that we may be wrong
Starting point is 00:03:16 about fyi my stuff's gonna be pretty off the cuff because i didn't do that much research yeah i had to drive here i had to clean and i think i might have had this thought again i mean before i think i've had this thought before and if i have just stick with me it's okay it's okay but my thought is let musicals be musicals again oh i am i love a musical movie when it's not depressing a nice fun musical movie layman's that's exactly i'm thinking about specifically what's her name give me something brown and hathaway there you go uh any kind of contact am i looking for a person i said her name anything can be a her yeah but if we're talking about lay ms what other i don't know if you were pivoting to a different no no when you said that when i said anything
Starting point is 00:04:13 that's fun and not depressing i was specifically think about thinking about when she's singing and crying at the same time and Les Mis also there's no words it's just singing and I do not like singing for me actually yeah I need words um uh-huh you don't know how how upset I was when I saw Hamilton finally no Melissa that's that's why I'm not gonna see it because I actually am gonna need you bitches to talk yeah I'm not gonna follow the storyline merely through song yes I'm just bopping uh yeah i'm glad that i knew because i listened to the hamilton soundtrack numerous times so i thought i was gonna you know get more when i i could have just kept listening to the soundtrack it's the same thing yep but anyway we had in the last year we've had mean girls the
Starting point is 00:05:05 musical come out we've had about that musical wonka was which was a musical and people didn't even know it was a musical i had no idea until this moment and now we have the new joker coming out oh melissa why i forgot i actually don't even know if i thought that was a rumor i thought that was like a poop crave it's a musical no oh you mean this is a real this says it's a musical it self-identifies no stick with me here okay so the definition of a musical is a is a musical or theatrical you don't have to use the definition in the definition a musical oh sorry i was reading it incorrectly a musical is a theatrical or film production that incorporates songs dialogue acting and dancing to tell a story so there's this new joker coming out and it is said to be this is the
Starting point is 00:06:00 log line fell comedian arthur fleck meets the love of his life harley quinn while incarcerated at arkham state hospital upon no they've they've updated it so it's no longer offensive oh it used to be arkham asylum upon his release the two of them embark on a doomed romantic misadventure that incorporates music and dance okay and then people that have seen it says that it's mostly a jukebox musical there's at least 15 cover songs original tracks may be at it which they have at this point and i don't know if you've seen any of the little clips from it but there is literally them coming down the stairs singing and doo-wop and kicking their legs in the air and phoenix walking phoenix and lady gaga will perform song and dance routines while singing classic tunes
Starting point is 00:06:56 like get happy for once in my life there's no way there's not a sia song earlier this year gaga promise there's music there's dance it's drama oh no but then recently at the venice film festival she said i wouldn't necessarily say that this is actually a musical in a lot of ways it's very different the way that music is used to really give the characters a way to express what they needed to say because saying it is not enough that is a musical that is the definition of a musical stephanie sounds confused and then also todd phillips who is the director of the film said most of the music in the movie is really just dialogue it's just author not having the words to say what he wants to say so he sings them instead again that is a musical he continues to
Starting point is 00:07:51 say i just don't want people to think that it's like in the heights where the lady in the bodega starts to sing and they take it out into the street and the police are dancing no disrespect because i love in the heights but i've seen clips and they are singing and dancing in the street so aren't they in like a new york style i mean gotham yeah but there's bodegas in gotham i'm pretty sure like to me that doesn't sound outrageous if you want to be like well i don't want people to think that she comes from a bubble in the sky and comes down and there's it's the wizard there's like a A lion, a witch, and a... Do you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:08:28 You picked a very normal, based in reality music. Maybe you said, I don't want them to think that suddenly they're going to start singing and they're in the African plains and someone is holding a baby lion. No, you picked in the heights. You picked in the heights. Right.
Starting point is 00:08:44 I would say that might be the most comparable. Like, my guy, Lin-Manuel Miranda, catching straights, and I wasn't even at the hands of that one. so like i don't understand why everybody is so against musicals recently i love a musical as y'all may know i love she does a musical movie i'll say i'm not really into the stage performances does that make me someone that doesn't appreciate the arts maybe i like a i like the movie i like the live performances on tv i gotta have angles she loves a fox lives
Starting point is 00:09:22 presents speaking of i found the dvd ten dollars now i don't have to watch it with all the commercials so happy for you thank you maybe he's not wanting to say it's a musical because it ruins his imdb because it goes from because i was like he i was like i can't think of anything somewhat even similar that he's done he's done he do road trip old school starsky hutch the hangover war dogs and so i'm like yeah it's a musical let musicals be musicals with mean girls the musical the movie they didn't let it be a musical in any of the previews they didn't cast a they didn't favor in a prioritizing the vocal yes aspect of the musical wonka most people didn't know it was a musical yeah you didn't know until five minutes ago i also don't know that he um
Starting point is 00:10:13 touted himself as a singer, necessarily. A dancer, though. Yeah. Very much a dancer. Oh, my God. Melissa, I figured out who we can blame for all of this. And boy, oh, boy, if I love to pin anything on this, Ronald Reagan is obviously first.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Second, La La Land. Blame La La Land. Blame La La Land. Blame La La Land. Because you want to hear what's even crazier? And I'm going to say, I love Ryan Gosling. I think Emma Stone's, I love her. She's a great actress.
Starting point is 00:10:40 I really like the projects that they do, the roles that they pick i like their performances i think they're very good i can't stand that movie as a fucking hole yes because it is like this i hate this fake idea of la like that drives me fucking crazy i also hate when things are based in la but you don't make it actually based in reality for anyone who cares they make them drive clearly from like santa monica to the valley and they're like around the block and i'm like no you can't be like a love letter to la and then just rewrite all of this this isn't fast and furious right at least Fast and the Furious they're driving fast cars they're stuck in traffic in that whole goddamn
Starting point is 00:11:12 movie I can't stand it I hate it but that audition scene very accurate that audition when she was talking about I don't even think it was in the movie but she was talking about how when she's in auditions it was about the movie but wasn't specifically in this scene but in auditions that a lot of times the people that are there casting directors actual directors production or whatever are like trying to mouth to get you to do how they wanted to do and I did
Starting point is 00:11:42 like I realized that I did that and I was like and it made me aware don't do it Melissa moms does it when we're reading tapes together and I'm like
Starting point is 00:11:50 thank god my vision's deteriorated because I used to be like don't mouth my lines don't mouth my lines while I'm doing them like it's just like a natural thing and so like
Starting point is 00:11:57 I don't think I think they both did a great job in it I saw the movie I was just it just makes me up I just can't stand it but originally
Starting point is 00:12:05 it was and like ryan gosling is a great dancer they both can carry a tune they don't have like the most insane ranges but i think they both can carry a tune and they both have nice tones to their voice i enjoy hearing that that's not musical voices though yeah but originally it was supposed to be miles teller and emma watson and i'm like hold up hold up now neither of those people are dancers or vocalists even in like a movie musical way that you go Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling like most people be like oh Emma Stone can sing like most people like Ryan Gosling's
Starting point is 00:12:42 in a band but like it was definitely a little bit surprising he was also part of Mickey Mouse club so no that's what I mean but like that was to me that was his dancing era he was singing a lot too I bet but I guess he was just petite because I always I'm like he was so young most little kids they're all well no but he was he was he was they were doing like 90s r&b and he was also a little bit older than he looked like he looked like he looked like he was sick he was not six no he was like nine and like 12 and stuff yeah he was i would say he was in the older yeah but he just looked yeah but i also never seen compared to all the other ones and to me i want to blame them because that is like first of all why would you subject emma watson to doing a
Starting point is 00:13:23 musical with miles like but like i'm just like what no and i feel like that was the gateway drug to this and then the fact that they had john legend there and they go hey we're emma stone and ryan glossing and we actually invented jazz in north hollywood and he goes congratulations love that for you what i literally had this conversation on saturday insanity i love blaming things on la la land you're right it's not it's la la land's fault it is and i hate jukebox musicals unless it's mamma mia like pick one artist do that as the catalog like i didn't see any of the there's the landis morissette one i think there's also a share i didn't see those but like the story of mamma mia has nothing to do with abba in that sense use that as a soundtrack
Starting point is 00:14:07 but like when you throw in like a titanium no make another pitch perfect then i'm fine with that yeah so i'm fine but don't make it this wow i feel like i don't know if i want to see it or i want like i really don't want it i i'm so torn the thing is like i want to see it but i don't want to see it but also they're like harley quinn won't be harley quinn in the way that we know with like the accent and like how she usually is and i'm like why are you making this movie like it could have been any character you should have picked anything else harley quinn was specifically made for the cartoon yep and because of the popularity she moved over into the comics and then in live action stuff like there is something about like harley quinn existed before like with
Starting point is 00:14:59 a voice before she was paid like yeah a comic so people already have in their head who who harley quinn is why would you do that and then like lady gaga is from new york she can do it of all the accents i feel like that's like the one she could do right maybe she's like austin butler and she's stuck in an italian accent okay do an italian brooklyn accent yeah and just take it up she's a singer she's singing in this movie late she's a singer just take it up an octave yeah also i just think that like there are movies that we need expansions on and remakes on i really liked his joker like that one i mods didn't love it most people who like liked the original or the heath ledger joker didn't like it because like it's very different it's like very like artsy dark and like
Starting point is 00:15:48 sad i really liked it and i liked his performance in it but i think like that wasn't necessarily the mass opinion i think a lot of critics also liked it yeah but i think like harley quinn we've had multiple margot robbie iterations this generation that have like been so good i think they're even still talking about doing another movie so like to me i'm just like that that's such a people have a hard time letting a character exist in such different forms at the same time so but harley quinn has just such a that just like at the same like the voice is iconic to who she is her going around with the her bat and stuff like that those are things and margaret nails it so then you're gonna have someone who's like not who's doing a way different take on the
Starting point is 00:16:37 character when we have that existing character who's still playing it and also a popular cartoon that's out right now like a new one that's based specifically on harley quinn why would you do that so weird that's so weird but anyway let musicals be musicals so i can thoroughly enjoy them and then you're not like pulling the wool over people's eyes that are going to see it and then coming out and being like i hated that because i don't like musicals well if you marketed it as a musical those people wouldn't have gone anyway and now you've dropped your tomato fact was it tomato meter yes that's what they call it you've dropped it because people that never wanted to see this movie are going to see it and don't trick people into seeing a musical because that's what
Starting point is 00:17:21 happened to me at the greatest showman was that my fault yeah was that terrifying to just see his twisted and snapping wrists and his tap into the foot and i went oh good god it's a musical and the other patrons who had bought tickets knowing his musical did not like me there and that it could be my fault or could be i feel like greatest showman was very much advertised as a musical with i'm i just it was a holiday time and anytime holidays come on i go oh look Christmassy holiday movie I took
Starting point is 00:17:53 MJ and Arale to see it and they had to be when did that movie come out I don't know years
Starting point is 00:18:00 I think MJ might have been like seven yeah us going to see it so I put this music on before we went
Starting point is 00:18:07 to go see it and they were like then we went to go see it they loved the movie and they came out and they were like let's listen to the music
Starting point is 00:18:15 from the movie I've been trying to get Monster to rewatch it he won't he rewatches everything I know. And he loves rewatching things he hates. Maybe he secretly loves it. Yeah. And he just wanted me to shit on it. That's a good theory. I'll tell him that when we get home.
Starting point is 00:18:29 And then it'll be reverse psychology. Let us watch it. Okay. Well, you're not wrong. Thank you. My hot take is Canadians. Period. No. Canadians. Bracket. Please stay out of American politics if you're then just going to plead ignorance. because we know we already know we've already known nothing makes me more irate than someone who does not have the knowledge of how our political system works or how things in america
Starting point is 00:19:02 work in general happens a fucking lot with british people too where they get online and they make these like hot takes and be like uh-huh and i go you know what could have fixed this a quick little google search but this like villainization of americans and specific things about america and our culture of like boiled down to like such small, specific one sentence things. And I go, that's actually a whole dissertation there. This idea of what you have does not exist. And it just makes me so fucking annoyed because like clockwork, when they get their ass fucking handed to them and everybody's like, no, no, no. They go, sorry, I'm Canadian. I really didn't know. And I go, so and why were we talking in the first place then? Because the excuse that it's a
Starting point is 00:19:44 oh, well, American politics affects Canadian politics. I agree. So wouldn't you want to make sure that you are doing the research, educating yourself and being correct and also knowing that because you do not live in America, you don't maybe have as much of a deep understanding of every news source and their political biases and those specific dog whistles of right alt MAGA tropes? Don't you think that you might be extra careful on that? Because I know for me, When I'm speaking about international matters, I'm doing even more research and due diligence because it is not being inundated to me naturally on the daily and conversations with friends on TV or whatever that is. I have to seek out most of the time international news. So if I'm going to
Starting point is 00:20:32 make a hot take, quote unquote, on international issues, I must do so much fucking research because other people will have a much stronger knowledge base based on their lived life there than I can from Google so yeah um and I also think it's like so crazy to have all these like takedowns specifically of women about how their career flops and the whole time I thought that they this that maybe this person was marketing themselves because they work in PR they sell honey oh that's who you're talking about got it in case you missed it okay okay but they don't even like didn't somebody do a thing where they actually like don't sell it it's their family's business yeah and that their family got a mat their family's company got the largest what
Starting point is 00:21:22 certain loan not pcp pcp whatever they could they could they got a huge defense massively huge contract with um the trump administration that they signed off on for like where the u.s government from the trump administration and it was like a no contest there was no they didn't have to bid for it and anything like that um so yeah and they're like cited the person who like did all this is like one of the the navarro election denier and you know people in in our on our on our side of the pond have been um hyper critical specifically of this acquisition and it's raised a lot of red flags and is still probably continuing to be investigated and so i single-handedly got online. Started a really successful TikTok account and then blew up my family's entire fortune and
Starting point is 00:22:09 might be sending those family members either to bankruptcy and or jail. I might be mortified. And also, if I was using so many beauty filters on in my photos and my videos, I would make sure that when you go find my LinkedIn photos or anything about the website, I don't look like someone who it doesn't feel as far-fetched that this person could have an mba but the youngest person to have an mba feels a little more far-fetched yeah yeah so i remember it might have been four years ago when the last election was and i had brought up like people that don't live in the u.s like this is when you sit your time out for having a discussion on this and then somebody somebody said well you're in the same way where you had just said your politics affect
Starting point is 00:23:05 us and then they went on and said something and i was like and i forgot exactly what it was it was in it's in the dms i wish you there was a search feature so i could get to it and then i was like you don't understand like i you're proving my point and then i sent them articles and they're like yeah i'm canadian so yeah i don't understand and it's like we i know that yeah like we all agree on this i'm like yes what happens in our government and our policies affect you 100 but also like you're canadian like you're gonna have to work so much harder to acquire a fraction of the knowledge that we have about this so to come on with opinions or to like make grand statements about all this like that's so half-baked and also we're on the same side you're
Starting point is 00:23:48 being counterproductive you're being counterproductive in this i don't think this guy was being counterproductive i think this was his agenda specifically politically but for a lot of people like innocently i do think that they're like well we're on the same like we don't want this either so then what about and i'm like no no just with love because you're going to you're doing the opposite of what you think so that's what i would say there you go hey hey let's take a break we're back for a break and it's time for our next segment which is but are you wrong where we read your email submissions you send to but am i wrong pod at gmail.com we ask that you keep them under 300 words you can include your pronouns if you would like but give us the rundown of the situation
Starting point is 00:24:50 that you want to know if you are in the wrong about all right hi hotties hey i like hotties more than girlies love him hi hotties i wanted to write in for but am i wrong would i be wrong if i texted a new guy right after ending a five-year relationship i am 27 he him i have been with my boyfriend for five years and honestly i think we've both been checked out the last two years we have mostly stayed together because it started off amazing covet happened then we still wanted to keep trying we just had a real serious conversation via text about the status of our relationship and how we don't think we can move past certain things i do not live with him i plan on having an in-person conversation soon as tomorrow and most likely ending things you haven't
Starting point is 00:25:38 even broke up yet okay i'm so far i'm on your side today a guy at work not a co-worker thank you gave me his number the way i internally scream i still am screaming he is so cute and i helped him out and he came back to me and said that he came back to bug me. I can still feel myself so giddy. Honestly, this alone says a lot about my current relationship because I don't think I have ever felt myself smile this hard in a long time. Also, for someone to give someone their number at their workplace is ballsy. I will wait to text the guy until I have this conversation with my boyfriend. would it be wrong for me to jump into talking to a new guy right after ending a five-year relationship ideally i would want to wait at least a year but honestly i have not felt like that ever
Starting point is 00:26:30 from meeting someone even if it ends after one day i do not want to regret anything i would love to know what you both think fyi i am an aquarius i love aquarius they're all right i say that as Aquarius we're the best you say you've been checked out of this relationship for two years it seems like the only reason y'all like really got together was because of COVID and not surprised this has happened to a lot of people I know they were dating somebody COVID happened they kind of just had that person that they were stuck with and now a year two years after the pre-vaccine time they're like i don't really know if i like this person yeah if you don't like it you already have texted about it you're breaking up with your partner then go have some fun i said
Starting point is 00:27:26 go have some fun it may not be anything at all but like you got to get over the hump sometime and it seems like i don't think you should put like a time stamp on how long you should stay single i think when you're ready to like seriously date you'll know if you just want to have fun with this person cool yeah i don't know where like the one year arbitrary timeline comes from because to me like that's what i would give myself i like my picker has been off like i'm really i need to be single i have to like work on myself or whatever but like it doesn't seem like that's the vibe like that to me is like oh i've been in a really unhealthy relationship i need to do all of this kind of work but but yeah like oh my god go for it like you're excited you are
Starting point is 00:28:12 giddy and all of that and like as a woman I can say that this I've been you a lot of the time like this is something that happens where it's like you have already gone over the relationship while you're still in the relationship so I think if it's not unhealthy bouncing from one relationship to the other because like you can't stand to like be alone this isn't that you're excited about this other person not like oh I need somebody else yeah you know what I mean so I think this is just like confirming the fact that like this relationship is like past its expiration date and I don't think you'd be wrong at all I think if you have hesitations about jumping into a quote-unquote relationship again and like I do think it would be good to date not just this one
Starting point is 00:28:56 person like you know go out with them see if you have fun and then like get on the apps and like go out with someone else like you can still end up being in a relationship with this person like later on down the road but not just uh accidentally hopping from one relationship into the other but yeah i love this and i think this is exciting like i i love when i love like hearing other people like that like butterfly thing because like it's infectious like even reading that i'm like oh my god like this yeah that's like so exciting and it's such a fun time and it seems like you're going to be respectful in this conversation you both are on the same page seemingly. So you're not wrong. Next. Hey, lovely ladies. Love the podcast. I'm wondering if I'm
Starting point is 00:29:36 wrong for changing my mind on having bridesmaids. So I have a sister who I'm not close to whatsoever. We're only 11 months apart, so you'd think we'd be super close. Not at all. We fought constantly growing up. Not silly sibling rivalry, but full on yelling and screaming. Never physical, but I'm surprised it didn't. As we got older and out of the same house, we basically had no contact, but we were cordial. When I announced my wedding, she assumed she'd be the maid of honor by default. I don't want any negative energy on my big day and she has a habit of making things about her. So I went with no bridesmaids and my fiance has no groomsmen. I'm still early in the planning and I'm wondering if I'm wrong in robbing not only myself, but my fiance of this experience as well.
Starting point is 00:30:11 No, I think it's a really smart move to not. If it's your instinct to not, the issue with weddings is like this culture of it makes people second guess their gut instinct decisions. And so if this is what you initially didn't want them, you don't want them anymore. But like, if you get caught up in like the, oh, well, the Pinterest and the aesthetics and all of these other things, like the idea of it, it's like, no, no, no. The idea of Bridesmaids would be great. The practicality and the reality of you having your sister as the maid of honor would not be great. So it can be fun as a concept, but if it's not fun in practice with your actual real life and the people who would be playing those roles, then it's not fun. You can still have like a
Starting point is 00:30:52 bachelorette party and just invite your friends or whatever. Or if you like want to get ready with a couple of your friends like you can like on the day of. But I think any sort of role at a wedding that involves somebody having access to a microphone needs to be so thoroughly vetted in the sense that you are so fucking confident that no amount of alcohol, no amount of sad songs, no amount of like family drama or stress will make them be anything other than like full-on hosting at the Oscars or the Emmys like professionalism I've been a bridesmaid several times and I honestly don't know what really we're getting out of this like except for just a title at the wedding and you have to stand up for a long time you get to party but like you
Starting point is 00:31:41 can just do that you don't have to have bridesmaids to do that i don't think you're missing out on anything and i don't even know if i asked my sisters right now hey do you think if you didn't have bridesmaids that you felt like you were you would have missed out on anything and they'd be like i don't think they would care especially like now because i don't think it's nearly as common as it used to be like then it you know what like they got married like 10 5 to 10 15 15 for megan yeah probably yeah 15 and then melanie's been married like 12 yeah that in that everyone had bridesmaids and so to me that the idea like if you're like right or if you're like listening to people who got married when everybody else did that like you need to know your peers are not
Starting point is 00:32:30 doing it so there's not as much of an expectation where like oh if you don't have bridesmaids you're going to lose those friends because it's a tit for tat kind of situation but yeah like and i just think that weddings have the ability to fundamentally change your relationships for the worst i don't think they have one aside from maybe your marriage hopefully that change your relationships for the better like it just is a super high stress situation so if i think if you want to have a relationship with your sister that's very positive down the road i don't think putting you guys through a very hard trial and tribulation is the way to get there okay so you're not wrong all right we're gonna take a break when we get back we'll get into but are they wrong
Starting point is 00:33:09 real canadian superstore has everything you need this back-to-school season save on lunchbox savers like ziggy's sliced deli meat products for always 375 and get life brand pure vita shampoo or conditioner for eight dollars each at real canadian superstore when you're ready we're ready with a whole world and more we are back it is time for but are they wrong we will nominate a person place or a thing something in the news current events pop culture that we think deserves the worst of the week to wear the cone of shame boo tomato tomato tomato my pick for this week are all the dummies who thought that chase had a money glitch we did pick the same one so we're just gonna talk at uh
Starting point is 00:34:10 this will just be a group project then yep all right so uh people this went around on social media people were writing checks to themselves and depositing them into atm machines taking out cash and then closing their account and saying that this was an infinite money glitch by chase and posting it on social media that's like my biggest thing is like screenshots of their account to prove that they got the money deposited videos with all of that information i have to say chase bank is reposting some on their tiktok which is iconically hilarious behavior yes i will like to note as far as i've seen and the reality that i'm painting for myself as of right now i've only seen one woman participate in this it does seem like mostly men mostly which feels really on the nose
Starting point is 00:35:08 yeah but to even call check fraud a glitch they didn't know it was check fraud they didn't know that we have like they're the children who've been left behind like this is crazy we need to stay in school yes like fd do y'all not know what the fdic is okay let's just talk about celebrities who've gone to prison and those cushy white collar prisons what were their crimes because here's something if you don't know what wire fraud is okay that's a little confusing yeah the mail fraud a little confusing check fraud we know what a check is i know what fraud is i can put those two and two together like have we heard of the term racketeering that one's a little bit harder we could google i am baffled that are we really living the life that you think that life is a
Starting point is 00:35:55 video game and there's actual cheat codes mother load you just got to hit a few buttons and suddenly you got a sims house in your backyard makes no sense and so this is what people were doing they were depositing fraudulent checks often drawn on closed accounts or with insufficient funds then before the check could be verified they would quickly withdraw the funds when the fraudulent check was discovered to be invalid the bank would reverse the transactions leaving the account with a significant negative balance like i saw somebody that had like negative thirty five thousand dollars and was crying about it i loved that video crying insane and so like the consequences of this are financial loss so people that engage in this activity often face substantial financial losses
Starting point is 00:36:42 including overdraft fees on top of the money that they have to pay back and potential legal action getting their accounts closed which chase did they address the issues closing all these fraudulence accounts and people thought just because like they closed the account that they would be fine no you're still also on candid camera babe not just candid camera you're on the video that you posted yourself you know that they let's say it's your debit card you go in they have your pin they have your social security number they have a video of you doing it and then they have a video of you being like look what i did they also have when you signed up for the check-in account you've signed that you're gonna follow the law when it comes to this you're never gonna get a loan ever again
Starting point is 00:37:29 you're never gonna be able to get a car you're never gonna be able to get a house you're never gonna be able to insurance all of these fucking things like first those are all the things that you get even after you probably will go to jail yes you will go to jail because this is fraud and you will be a loser in jail and that's like really embarrassing very embarrassing like imagine being a loser in jail and they go you're that big of an like other people robbed banks you thought you got an infinite money glitch and then you filmed it on tiktok idiot idiot so embarrassing they're all idiots like this to me was like depressing i was like no god there's no way i wasn't depressed like i mean it's for the sake of the fact i was specifically depressed for the teachers
Starting point is 00:38:14 which i go i know you tried your damn hardest with these kids okay you're damn fucking hard and those kids their parents their guardians other people in their lives people who have probably tried to see them and it's just la la la la la oh no to me i go is this what the results of ipad babies are can't be this is all going back to like critical thinking which seems to be lacking now too what's happening i do wonder and to me the most like this is like my hints they tinfoil hat brain but to me that this may this is more likely to me that the first person did it knew that it was check fraud but didn't think it would actually go through did it and then documented it to get more people there and involved in doing all of that so hopefully if
Starting point is 00:39:03 more people do this the idea of like well they can't arrest all of us well they can't do it and they can but to me that's more realistic than like the first person ever doing this and thinking of doing this you wouldn't think to do this without knowing that it's fraud i could see people seeing someone else do this and saying they do it then doing it not knowing it's fraud but to me like the original idea i don't know how you get that without from like a movie where they're literally robbing but also why do they think like it was so specific for chase too no i know that's what i'm saying like it's just kind of like okay guys this doesn't add up this it just doesn't and also why would it only work now and not before like do you think someone's been testing this
Starting point is 00:39:54 all the time but like i also my other conspiracy hat is that like is somebody robbing trying to like rob like a bank of america or something and they want everyone to focus on chase and so they started this whole thing to get everybody's eyes on here to the other or people were doing smaller amounts let's say they were doing like a hundred dollars they knew they were going to get paid the next day so that just that pay it covered it and they were like you you timed it so you avoided your overdraft yes and so they're like if i keep doing that then i can get money but it's like no you're it just got deducted from the check that you already had coming in yeah you just meant the processing yes this is like it's just crazy to me that these people have bank accounts because
Starting point is 00:40:41 what do you mean what do you mean and the thing that was the craziest to me but also that they have checks that's another thing it's like that's what so that's what i'm saying that i'm like people don't even really use checks these days so they have the idea that you would use a check i don't think you know about checks unless you know about check fraud like it just to me those things are correlated so it's like one person did it knew what they were doing and said shit this fucking worked i didn't know this was gonna work i need other people to like flood this and do this so it's not just all on me essentially but like that's the part that makes no sense like i the way i have to search my house to find a goddamn fucking check and i got checks recently because i
Starting point is 00:41:19 mott was like you need to have checks and i was like i haven't looked at a check in year i haven't written inside a check i have on my phone i have a screenshot that says how to fill out a check because i can't remember the top of my head and these people are younger than me yeah and checks are not a big thing of my life no like i have it i have checks because i write myself a check instead of waiting for it to direct deposit so i'll just i have a business account because i have a business i shouldn't i should clarify i have a business so i write myself my payroll check yeah and pay myself instead of doing direct deposit because then i can pay out of my business account into my personal account and it'll automatically be in instead
Starting point is 00:42:00 of waiting two days yes yes yeah it's just insane to me and like they're like the the notion that there would be no consequences is so mind-blowing to me because people are like well what happened my account is now negative thirty thousand dollars but this makes no no sense like I yeah I wrote that check for like no it was like negative thirty five thousand dollars and it was like but I only wrote that check for thirty thousand dollars I had five thousand dollars to pay my rent and they're like can I have my five thousand dollars back and I'm like no we have to you stole this money and they're like well no no part of that was mine it's like no no there's also overdraft fees now too you can't and also it's just illegal like you cannot do this and the fact that like i so badly
Starting point is 00:42:52 wish i had seen these take talks as they were happening in the comment section because i also don't fucking believe for a second that in the first five comments i'll say five first five comments one person isn't saying this is check fraud like you're not gonna be able to and i know for a fact the defense is gonna be like well the glitch and the judge is gonna be like ban i bar the word glitch from my fucking courtroom you can't keep calling it a glitch like there's no way you literally crowdsource to tell people and then other people without a doubt told you that it was fraud and then you did it anyway yeah and documented it so have we learned nothing filming your crime and i will say i'm not a huge fan of banks i'm not a huge fan of the like i love
Starting point is 00:43:36 the you know i like my money but like i'm not a huge fan of like the idea that they can go bankrupt and like they give your money all these other things whatever and i go yes stick it to the man guys not like this no silly whatever happened to robbing banks and too hard too hard too much work think about those which i again will say i think they're women the women who robbed that bank in LA, Easter weekend. They were had 24 hours security. There was never any money there except for this one day. And there was security there the entire time. And then he's one little laugh and there was a hole in the back and he said, what? And he goes in money gone. You know what? We've never heard a peep from those bitches. Nobody knows who they are, where they are or
Starting point is 00:44:15 anything. All we know is they stole the money and they kept quiet about it. They didn't make a tiktok saying hey guys diy how to rob a bank right but big up for all the lawyers so happy for you guys you guys are going to be working everybody's got a job and it's easy easy money unlike them you're you're actually getting easy money that's actually legitimate yeah there you go happy for you guys the rest of y'all i need to know though if any of you know someone who did this or if you know if you were on TikTok at the time and saw any of the comments like what was what was that like yeah for sure well that is it we hope you all enjoyed don't commit check fraud don't commit any like fraud specifically like on purpose right because as two people who had to
Starting point is 00:45:09 really rethink their entire merch plan because I was I was sitting with a real fear that we were going to go to jail for tax fraud because it was unavoidable because I couldn't do the math and I was sitting online for hours trying to figure stuff out and i couldn't i was like why is there not just a checklist uh-huh and i don't understand i still don't understand why there's not a checklist but i tried to explain to monty because i don't get it i go exactly me neither exactly me fucking ether and he should if if he should know and he's like well explain it to me i think you're missing something i go i think i am too yeah i don't know how to do it better boy i am missing something and it's fine and it's fine so any of you have any ideas of great merch companies that
