or it could also be a rant or a hot take so what do you got i have a combination of a rant and a hot take i wrote a letter okay dear southern white racist people my ancestors were left a plantation by their enslaver who's also their grandfather slash father a man who in depth seemed to make final gesture to his children. But the white people didn't like the idea of Black people owning land, so they ran them off. This wasn't a unique story. It was a blueprint. You wanted us gone, but you couldn't stand it when we tried to go. Fast forward to today. There's a group of people in Arkansas building a whites-only community, and I've read about it. They called it return to the land they say it's about preserving western culture about protecting their families

they're using innocuous language but the article lays out that it really is a project rooted in white supremacy their leader praises hitler the kkk and are connected to neo-nazis it's a throwback a modern attempt at an old idea. And honestly, I don't care about it. Please, I'm begging you, segregate yourselves. Build your 160 acre compound, raise your own children in your own schools, and live as far away from me as possible. I would be relieved. I would applaud it. It would mean I wouldn't have to deal with your racism, your microaggressions, or your threats. You see, the assumption was and has always been that we Black people would care, that we would be devastated by your attempt at separation. On the contrary, if you had done this, if you had just

built your own worlds and left us alone, history would be very different. But that's the thing, you wouldn't, you can't. You can't just separate and leave us alone because your entire identity, your supposed heritage, has always been built on our oppression and our labor. So when Black people try to do what you're doing now, when we built our own communities, our own thriving towns, our own success stories, you came and you burned them down. You didn't just stand by, you interfered, you massacred us. Think about the Rosewood Massacre in 1923, a prosperous Black town in Florida with homes, businesses, and thriving communities. All of it was destroyed by a mob of white supremacists who murdered its residents. Or the Tulsa Massacre of 1921, Greenwood, Oklahoma, was known as Black

Wall Street, a vibrant, wealthy, self-sufficient Black community. In 24 hours, it was leveled by white moms, and hundreds were killed. My own family's experience is a microcosm of this history when my ancestors tried to claim the land that was legally theirs they were run off not because they couldn't survive on their own but because their existence as free land-owning black people challenged the entire racist system so when people like eric orwell the founder of return to land say that they want to be left alone to preserve their culture i just don't believe them the history is too clear. Your actions have always proven your words to be a lie. The freedom of association you claim for yourselves is freedom you have violently denied

us for centuries. If you really wanted to be separated, if you really wanted to build your own lives and be free of us, you could have done that. You should have done that, but you didn't, and you never will, because what you project isn't about separation. It's about control. It's about maintaining a hierarchy where you are at the top and everyone else is beneath you. So go ahead, build your towns. The rest of us will continue to build a world where all people can thrive and a world not based on exclusion. The difference is that our project is born out of resilience and yours is born out of fear.

And we've already shown that we can build something beautiful on our own. arkansas my family and i went after church and when we walked in it was packed just the way it should be but the line was long which meant we got to sit in those rocking chairs on the front porch and play checkers on an oversized quilt it's a tradition i'm sorry are you being serious is that what fucking crackerbill has oh my god okay it's part of the experience this is a brand new information and then when you finally get inside you get to wander through the old country store and it is legit callback looking at all the kitschy things you'll never actually buy but still have to look at the knickknacks and the nostalgic gifts but you always end up with a bag of that old-fashioned taffy every single time and then when gas station like why can you

buy taffy to me that's like going to denny's and being like could i also get some taffy no you could buy so much at this store like the most tacky gifts oh my gosh and then when you get to your table you're hopefully lit by a fireplace that no matter what time of year it is it is burning and you get to enjoy your meal while you play that tic-tac-toe game with little golf tees that stick out of the wooden table this is not a real place the food is good i mean where else can you go to get chicken and dumplings on the menu they also have incredible biscuits with apple jam or apple butter and beignets and what really makes the meal is every guilty white passerby that stops and tells me that i'm pretty

now i really gotta go it's a whole vibe i wonder why you love this a feeling of coziness and community that you just don't find anywhere else. But now I've seen pictures and read articles and I'm seeing that the new Cracker Barrel design is horrendous. It's a betrayal of everything that makes this place special. They call it modernizing and freshening up. But what they're really doing is taking away the character that makes it so unique. One article that I read said that they're decluttering the interiors, removing all the country thing trinkets and line walls they've gone for a brighter more open concept shifting away from the dark woods that gave it this warmth they're even dropping the barrel

and the man from the logo the very thing that makes it recognizable so like i said they're taking the crack a marketing professor even said the new logo makes the brand new the brand stand out less and risk diluting the brand's uniqueness. And I couldn't agree more. The CEO, Julie Fells Massino, says that it's all part of a $700 million plan to shake off its stodgy image and lure in new diners. But it's always packed. She also claims that the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic. But I have to ask, who are these people? Because social media is telling a very different story videos of the redesign have gone viral on tiktok and from my end all by black people with comments saying the nostalgia is gone and i don't want another bland box store

type restaurant one person even wrote can we please go back to the original work the nostalgia is gone but i'm sure the conservative on the conservative end they're probably blaming the woke left for this, but this is not what we want. Cracker Barrel is a place where you're not just a customer, you're a guest, and you feel it the moment you walk in. The cozy, the clutter, the slightly dark interior, the old-timey country store, the fireplace, the rocking chairs, all of it works together to create a feeling that is completely and totally unique. And now that they want to strip it away what exactly does it bring a crowd that wants bland sanitized food in a soulless modern space we already have plenty of those i don't want my cracker barrel to look like every

other restaurant chain i want it to be what it is has always been a home away from home not my home but somebody's home somebody's border home but you keep calling it cluttered as a restaurant to is objectively crazy like that has to be a health code violation no it's not that it's because it there's just like the tables are close together so much stuff the tables are close together and it's just like the walls are filled with photos that's so overstimulating um the company might say that the numbers are working but they're missing the point the value of cracker barrel isn't just in the cell it's in the soul it's in the cozy chaotic and kind-hearted atmosphere that has made it a favorite for decades so i'm asking them in the name of the biscuits and oversized

quotes and every grandmother who has ever told me how pretty i am put the crackers back the problem as i see it is that so many people are confusing these two ideas the dangerous destructive project of so-called heritage built on hate and the beautiful, simple nostalgia of a place like Cracker Barrel. The first is a threat to the foundations of our society, a violent lie that must be exposed. The second is a comfort, a piece of our lives that a corporation is destroying. At the end of the day, do I really care about Cracker Barrel? No. What I care about is the way we confuse heritage with hate, nostalgia with nationalism, and comfort with control. A restaurant can strip away its rocking chairs and lose nothing more than atmosphere. A society that strips away

humanity loses everything. So if you want to retreat into compounds and call it culture, go ahead. Just know the rest of us are building something bigger, warmer, and more real. something worse sitting down for even without the barrel sincerely melissa demonts the coastal elite of 13 years but a southern bill for eternity i think we found your new bio that was a ride i as a coastal elite of my entire life the way that you have described cracker barrel um has actually like blown the ceiling off for me because like i thought this was just a restaurant i didn't i didn't understand the interactive level i didn't understand i didn't really understand any of it i will say when i heard that people were getting upset

showering no and then by the way you're not showering you also smell like vinegar everything is vinegar it is just so gross and the fact that like they keep their gray water from the showers like out on like a big open thing to be like oh it'll evaporate and i watched a video guy goes yeah it never evaporates we just like have to figure out how to dump it and all they do is then just bring it to the fucking next town over and just litter everything and completely dispose of everything there but the elements are begging people to stop going to burning man and this idea that this is like this otherworldly cosmic kind of thing of like oh you'll never understand like it changes you as a person really changes you as a person because all of you go back to your

fucking tech jobs ai and you go and then sell your app to sell government data like to sell our data to the government being like it changed me i understand empathy do you do you you all are like bajillionaires who work in tech and do all this caught like pretending to be like oh poor under all of lovingness and like we're all together in this no you're on ecstasy and you're horny you didn't understand empathy you didn't figure any of that out you rented a a rv for like fifty thousand dollars you spent all this money like it is so fucking wild and then beyond that people bring their kids to burning man there is like rampant sexual abuse obviously sexual abuse that happens but also there is so they're like body cam footage of it they don't have real police

there they have like their own like our own governing body here who's here who's dealing with all of this but there's like a footage of this of people being sexually abused and them trying to report it and then being like don't report it to the police don't just discouraging people okay um there's also people die there's death and then this year guess what murder there's motherfucking murder there was one year where someone ran into the burning man like a i don't know if it was an intentional self-immolation like as a stance to that because i'm pretty sure self-immolation has to have a political or uh social it has it's it's a it's a cause-driven thing not necessarily a drug-driven thing as the primary factor i don't know about

this one i don't know if it was just here i'm on a lot of drugs and i see the light now i'm running fucking to to fire or whatever um but now there was a person who was found in a pool of blood and guess what they just dismissed everyone i'm burning man too many people go home go home the fuck the food disgusting the fact that i literally watched the whole time to being like let's go get pancakes at burning man and it's just dick pancakes in the desert and i'm like you're eating you've got pasties on you've got furry boots on like you're going to a rave the weather is atrocious and they get this thing called um something lung something lung where it like is literally leading to like emphysema like not just like oh you're getting sick after going to this but it's like

no no it's like long-term effects on your cardiovascular system specific and like your lungs like the fuck and you're paying all of this money to go do this all of this money because it changes you as a person you know you can do lsd at home just get like get one of your little like buy a lava lamp and like trip balls at your fucking house you don't need to do this to the desert you don't need to like fucking absolutely destroy the neighboring towns and cities and you don't need to bring your goddamn fucking kids no yeah um they tried to do something similar like they might be doing it but something similar like this in arkansas and i had got invited and i was like absolutely not no thank you like on paper there's no way that anyone

thinks like yeah this sounds like this is gonna be wonderful and safe and and great like there's also like people who like go there to like preach and i was like doesn't counterintuitive to like pay all this money to go there and then be like oh yay the orgy tent finally broke down because of the winds and i'm like is it those same people that stand outside like concerts and loki i kind of think that would be better at least in outside the gates with your signs that you already have you're spending thousands of dollars to get in there in there like they're doing it because those people are counting on getting hit by something and suing no they're like enjoying burning man and i was like okay so i just think this is like and if someone wants to be oh and

like this whole thing of being like no it's like an anti-capitalist society too much fucking money that people who run burning man make do you know how much it costs do you also like know what little thing you're getting for this like astronomical cost and guess what everyone's like you know if it's not just rich people you can work for it yeah you know you can go and get a discounted ticket if you are working to the bone and serving those goddamn fucking rich people who can just pay a fee to get out of the community helping you just pay a fee and then it goes hey poors we'll just give you the money then you work to the bone you sleep in a goddamn fucking tent that like is thrashing you all around like you need a stronger sense of your mortality my god and if anyone wants

applied the facts as reported reveal a series of misjudgments that led to a predictable and avoidable outcome so first this incident occurred in a spanish class not an english class the west valley school district english department has a long-standing well thought out protocol for handling the racial slur in To Kill a Mockingbird. According to Superintendent Kyle Riedel and English Department Leader Christine Coolstone, this protocol, which has been in place for over 15 years, involves English teachers consistently skipping the word or referring to it as the N-word. So what happened was that he was in class and he overheard two girls talking about two students talking about how in their english class they don't say the n word and he was basically like i don't see what's wrong with that so after he said the slur which was prepped by a student who just happened to have the book open on the page where the word is handed it to him and basically said say it these students hate him what's that one news who was that on the news that they invited the guy

and they're in like it's not a big deal just say it say it i mean it's a tv show it's an act yeah but that people think it's a news it's the guy that's in uh sinners yeah but it was on it was like a new segment on the show yes yeah yeah yeah but it was it wasn't real yes yes a lot of people think it is real no that was the acting is phenomenal yes so after he said the slur the students in his class could be heard giggling and shifting in their seats this is a quote this was not the silence of profound contemplation it was the sound of discomfort and unease a truly quote-unquote teachable moment doesn't produce nervous laughter it fosters respectful dialogue and deep reflection keep in mind they recorded

him saying this so they have all the proof. When he overheard his students English teachers were skipping the word he disagreed calling the practice silly. In that moment he prioritized his own opinion over the established thoughtful and humane approach from his colleagues. And then the most serious misstep his professional duty. A teacher's primary responsibility is to be the a well-being and safety for their students. This duty takes precedence over rigid, single-minded interpretation of authorial intent. The vice president of the Spokane chapter of the NAACP, Jamie Stacey, spoke directly to this point, explaining that the teacher's actions lacked cultural humility and were insensitive to the experiences and emotions of Black students. The incident, she said,

was about centering whiteness and white people's opinions on the use of the word rather than the harm caused to the black students in the classroom. We cannot claim to be confronting history while simultaneously inflicting real-time trauma on our students. Confronting history requires understanding the impact of our words and actions, not simply repeating them for shock value. Matthew said this is the kicker he doesn't regret his actions and that his conscience is clean and while I personally cannot speak on his conscience the professional world operates on a standard of accountability not personal absolution the school district's decision not to renew his contract was not an overreaction it was a measured response to concerns from parents

and a recognition of poor judgment and the teacher's ability to serve as a good role model. This situation is not about a teacher's right to speak. It's about a teacher's obligation to act responsibly and to use their professional judgment within the school environment. It's about recognizing that there's a difference between teaching from a book and using a position of authority to inflict harm a truly bold and virtuous teacher understands the differences and chooses the path of empathy and professional standards every time not even his class no he would have absolutely crushed it at my school growing up though our spanish teachers were so fucking weird all they would do is put on music videos of titties i feel like most spanish teachers

fucking issues and like problems and i think they maybe like shit has like really like changed immensely but i just remember growing up that like it was something that like they tried to be like oh look at this stupid nurse who did this and everybody was like why did you have her working this many hours with like no checks and balances there like why was she even able to do that and why was she being forced to work for this long um so i don't know if like shit has like It's changed immensely since, but their legal action, they did, let's see, yeah, they implemented a system-wide policy for charity care and health care discounts for uninsured patients, expanding their policy. Then they had a settlement agreement for class action related to the billing of said policy. They were sued for violating antitrust laws, leading to higher prices for health care insurance premiums.

they agreed to pay 228.5 million to settle class action lawsuit for towards three million people they filed another there's another antitrust lawsuit against them another one all of these settles like they were not required to admit wrongdoing but are paying like almost six hundred thousand dollars and like it's just like there's a lot so oh this yeah yeah this part so in 2022 over 8 000 nurses and health care workers in the 50 northern california sutter health facilities did a strike for one day asking for safer staffing levels and other contract demands and sutter locked them out for a week so i'm i i have like always been and that's also a personal bias of mine because like that's they took over the hospital that i was born at and in my town

or not town we didn't have a hospital tiny town but um they have said that they're deeply concerned about the employees actions we are deeply oh we are deeply concerned about a disrespectful that's light uh social media post made on a personal account by a former employee and we are now conducting a full review in line with our policies they stated that the individual who had posted these and all who appeared in the viral tiktok have been fired as of wednesday it was claimed that the former employee hasn't worked the facility in two months and then i'm like how do you so then you have you let people have their phones and they can film and record and like no one said hey by the way there's a former employee who has video because like what if there's like

patient information in the back of the video like there's just like you're filming at work in like a medical space you don't work there anymore and you're going to post this and if it's like oh well made sure that what did you really go through the like the the avenues to make sure that there's nothing private there when by the way what you're posting is private but like just because it's technically and like it still is HIPAA compliant because you're like well you can't tell who the person is based on the wet spot on the fucking table saying that they're the Sansom Clinic released a statement saying it shares the concern but it's just fucking wild um but the original user was angie uncut and they have obviously since gone private yeah also the people that

were in they were going like posting a photo of a group of people that worked in the hospital with her that were not in the photos of the jelly incident and some of those people are innocent so they after they did an investigation so i want media companies to stop using the group photo because some of those people did not know what was going on no this to me though it's like you have to do this over multiple days like you this is like such a long this is probably a joke that they all had together and to me it says so much about the work culture because I'm like there's too many people involved in it that like you had to keep it a secret either you had to keep it a secret from one person who got oh they're an arc but

like it does seem like the vast majority based on like you know how how many people we're usually seeing in these like medical facilities who are working there in a day it doesn't seem like you were not amongst like-minded people who also found this funny and appropriate it just is like so horrible and demoralizing and like again like knowing that this is like an urgent care this isn't just like typical routine exams like this is like usually because like something's going on like something's wrong and people already don't go to the doctor in general let alone like to get like gynecology health care anything like that because like there is this stigma of this being embarrassing of this being like dirty of this being gross and something to be like ashamed of

and like of all the fucking people like even still we're like i don't i'm like we're folding our fucking clothes when you're getting a pelvic exam like you're still like oh let me make sure my underwear is not out like you're still worried about that even though of all of the people in the world the same people who are telling like it's like uh um pilots being like of me of all people you should trust me when i say it's safe to fly when a health care worker is like of all people i'm the person that you shouldn't feel uncomfortable with this like i'm the person i'm like oh great now what like now now the barrier to health care even greater and to me i do hope that this uh helps push forward the access of at-home pap smear tests yeah because
