Starting point is 00:01:37 very cute yeah i have it in black too welcome to a brand new episode of but am i wrong starring two people who have not once ever been wrong and um we're gonna continue that streak today where we we've got like a bunch of segments on the show what you really need to know is we want you to vote on who you think was wrong in each part of the episode and you do that by going over to our instagram story after the episode is out make sure you follow us you know when that is posted when the stories are there and we've got polls so you vote who was wrong and then write in why you voted the way you did and then on our tuesday episode called see you next tuesday yeah it is the acronym you think it is we read the results as well as your messages so oftentimes
Starting point is 00:02:23 for like write-in segments we have the original writer like they will say what happened an update or anything um maybe more info more context and for the pop culture current events time passes on so sometimes like we have updates with that and it's a grand old time we're also on patreon if you want to watch the video version of the podcast see how gorgeous and cute we are and we also do live streams twice a month if you want to make new friends new city that you live in or same city but you you hate the people and you're like i i need some fresh faces or you're looking to um couch surf as you travel the world there are people or surf i saw someone being like every time they hear that anytime someone say surfboard or that song in general they just hear nick miller
Starting point is 00:03:13 going surfboard from a new girl and i was like that's funny but yeah anything else melissa Nah, that's it. Flawless, wonderful, amazing. Shall we get into our first segment? Yeah. Our first segment is called, But Am I Wrong? That's when we share predicaments in our life that we could be wrong about. It could be a rant.
Starting point is 00:03:35 It could just be something we want to get off our chest. It also could simply be just thoughts and feelings. And today I would like to present If I Was Wrong. Oh, let's see. if my it wasn't something i did it's just an observation i made we should do a trigger warning for emetophobia for this one so as y'all know a couple weeks ago i got on a little jet plane and headed to vegas i was sitting next to a father his two older children were in front of me his wife was to the right diagonal with their younger son okay hold on tell me again i need
Starting point is 00:04:16 the visual okay so me and the father you thought what i'm on i'm on the inside you're on the window seat uh-huh okay window melissa and then the father is next to me middle seat there's just two seats it's fake it's a small oh true true true okay and then in front of you or behind you you said in front of me are two old by older 10 and 8 maybe okay and then diagonal to the right so next to the row with the other boys is the wife and then their younger child which was probably like six okay first of all this man i already knew that he was going to be a problem because he they told us to put away our electronic devices that they do on every flight and he just kept on working even after the flight attendant passed by and was like put away your computer kept working
Starting point is 00:05:11 flight attendant came back up and was like put away your computer now he finally did then we're up in the air and before they say you know you can use your devices he had his computer back out working then he also passed it to his wife to proof it so I was already like this man is entitled like he just keeps doing things that not supposed to be doing also asked for something that they already said that we didn't have not paying attention and entitled but that really doesn't have anything to do with the actual story at hand but my hot take or my question is if I'm wrong for thinking if you know that your children get motion sickness then you should be driving somewhere not on a plane so coming down from Vegas is a it's bumpy like that's just something you expect
Starting point is 00:06:02 it's very dry air so it's like a little bumpy coming down you know this also keep in mind the flight from vegas from la to vegas they say it's 42 minutes it's like 28 minutes you go up and come right back down you can't even have enough time to like charge your phone you don't even have time to like get your electronics out of your fucking bag they don't the the window for the time that you can have it out is less than five minutes yes so his kids who are on their tablets i should say they each have their own tablet which adds to motion sickness if you have motion sickness start dry heaving all three of them and as we keep going they're scrambling for barf bags because the kids are all three of them are
Starting point is 00:06:55 throwing up and they're like it's weird how they all three get motion sickness like they know that this is something that happens you're not gonna get this fucking point right like they know that this is something that happens they didn't give them anything to help with it the kids are i'm giving my barf bag over like they are throwing up all three of them on a tiny plane on a tiny plane why wouldn't you it is a five hour drive or i don't know give them a medication or don't allow them have their tablets out like they should just be sitting there yeah like as someone who gets motion sickness i do too yeah i don't get it really on planes like for me it's like cars and boats but like even if i know that like when we went to ecuador i knew that like a ecuador has
Starting point is 00:07:44 some like the windiest roads and then also like altitude wise like it can fuck with your stomach i started taking i had my c-bands on and i was taking germany days before i left yep like there's a level of like if you know that how you were because like that's how i react to extremely high altitude and bad car like car rides and so if i know that like i i'm not just gonna be nauseous i'm gonna be throwing up like i'm taking germamine for the days before i have all i have medication for drop for uh motion sickness for my migraines and i take that before i get on the plane so they're they're rolling like i'm not talking like just like a little you know they are rolling up and then they left the bags on the plane air marshals send them to motherfucking
Starting point is 00:08:30 jail that should be a no-fly list yeah but they each had two a piece and they left them on the plane unless they told them to leave them on the plane no our bags take your they didn't even know because we are landing they didn't know what was happening there was a girl on tiktok who like spent the entire flight in a bathroom because she got food poisoning and they were like take your time take your time and she was like she like soiled her clothes and she was like should i take them and they're like no leave them it's a biohazard and she was like oh okay that makes sense that's if they tell you you should never just like leave they don't know what they're picking up no and like yes it's a barf bag but like it did you just stick it in your seat or
Starting point is 00:09:08 did you like leave it on your actual no it was a mixture of both like it was in the seat and then in the pocket no oh my god that makes me nauseous to think about yeah this is worst nightmare yeah like i'm sitting there trying not to also throw up as they're throwing up like do not bring your three small children on a plane if you know this is happening and also dad maybe not the time to work maybe maybe you should be sitting next to i guess they can't there wasn't a way there wasn't a way for it but like do the kids need to go to wherever you're going vegas no it's too hot they don't need to be there no and as a kid who like oh my god i cannot even one of the greatest things about adulthood is like not doing things or going places that i know that the route to get there
Starting point is 00:09:57 i will throw up like there's nothing worse than like just like your parents normalizing the fact that like you barf every time you're in a like you're in a moving vehicle and like you'll be fine you feel like shit after it's not like oh i feel a lot better because i threw up no no you you are dizzy you have vertigo like your stomach hurts you have a headache for all this time that i'm like don't make your kids do that it is fucking miserable it is miserable i don't do things now that like I avoid things it's not just like oh well I'll get car sick like no I when I'm in a car I prefer if I'm not driving I prefer to be in the back seat when I was a kid I loved reading I was an avid reader and we love taking road trips I've told y'all about our big
Starting point is 00:10:37 ass van that we had so we were road tripping pretty much every weekend to go somewhere and I could not read I knew that if I started feeling sick I had to lay in the back and close my eyes i did not read anything and sometimes you know we'd have to pull over so i could take a little break get some air but like that's not inconveniencing other people and you're not i'm not subjecting my bio waste to other people no that's horrible i remember having barf bags in the car as a kid because like i just would throw up in the car and then i'm like hey we're out to dinner and i'm like cool i'm not hungry yeah i just got sick yeah those kids are miserable that's horrible horrible and to do it on a plane yep that's awful you're not wrong for anything
Starting point is 00:11:23 that is horrifying i would you know i would have thrown up i know i if i hadn't taken my dream or whatever that medication is that i was taking if i hadn't taken that plus i had also taken my inhaler a little bit before i would have thrown up and i didn't eat anything either so i there was nothing on my stomach but i literally was sitting there trying to not get sick not pay attention to what was happening but i could not pay attention because he was reaching for there yeah like i'm i'm in the action no like when my like monster's like sick and he's throwing up i have to i'm like with i have to go to the next room i've put headphones in and i have to deep breathe and i have to take a zofran because like just the idea of that like i'm i don't have a fear
Starting point is 00:12:10 of vomiting i just like i'm i'm a sympathy barfer like it's just it's gonna fucking happen yep wow wow wow mine is a lot more light-hearted let's take a break and then when we get back we can all have a good kiki together hopefully we are back and it's time for my hot take and my hot take is you should be related to everybody with your last name and names that are close to your name this all started with moths and i doing what we do that melissa makes fun of us our movie night at home watching trailers and we had run back well actually we weren't running back we'd already seen like the first two trailers but a third trailer had dropped of the leonardo dicaprio tiana taylor movie and i was like this looks we
Starting point is 00:13:18 are excited to see this movie i know i am too i hate that leonardo dicaprio's in it but i'm excited for what the film is and the all the cast except for him yeah that man is difficult but boy oh boy can he act and so we were watching it and i made box pause and i said paul thomas anderson and Wes Anderson, they're brothers, right? And Moss goes, no. And I was like, and he looked at me like I was crazy. And I was like, why is that crazy? First of all, they love coloring their movies.
Starting point is 00:13:47 They both love directing movies. And like, they're not the same style, but I could see them having some of the same genetics, even half brothers. Like, this is how we end up here. I almost even said, I thought they were twins, but I didn't want to push it too far. And then he was like, no.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Do they even look alike? Moss, I've never looked at these people. Why would I ever look these people up? but then then i went to guillermo del toro and benicio del toro and monster also not related and i said now that if you are going to make a whole stink about who can register their names at sag and the writers guild and all of these kinds of things i'm so sorry that i'm now thinking you're related and i think like if i met someone with my last name maybe it's because like i don't have a common last name and like if i meet someone my last name we are related but like i think we
Starting point is 00:14:34 should you should be related to people who have your last name and i also think there's a special caveat that i think if you have three names jennifer love hewitt god we have so many of them we chad michael murray i think all of you all of you are also related thank you oh i hate to go here but i have to go here as the black person that's here the black american that's here that's the the you will notice i did pick not black people for this but yeah but you also picked latinos which i thought but i think someone said i looked at this one that one said that they gear i looked at on an article afterwards like actors with like the same last name and one of them was they found out they had a distant relation it's not them though no they're anybody
Starting point is 00:15:22 that has been colonized you cannot put that in there because like a lot of us have the names of our colonizers so that's i can't get down with that because of that what about paul thomas anderson and wes anderson there's also the fact that a lot of last names are derived from professions as well yeah that's like the what the lot of those british like we're yeah because they're what's that one like blacksmith like yeah like thatcher and like that kind of stuff cut down from huh you don't think that wes anderson and paul tom henderson look a little alike no okay that's just me then oh so this this also helps with why i associate them despite uh well they share uh a similar time frame of cinematic output i guess they're releasing
Starting point is 00:16:16 movies at the same time i just thought that was like a brotherly thing to do i got you but anderson is such a common last name so so motz did point that one out well it's just like this is like this is like picking johnson i was like well no not everyone with the same name johnson is related and then he was like i literally just think you think it is paul thomas anderson and wes anderson are related and i was like that's probably it that's probably it but i do think that wow there's something wrong with my brain i literally think they look so much alike they're just men with blue eyes yeah they look like they could be weird brothers to me they both have a very plasticky look to their face not as in like they're pulled tight but as if they
Starting point is 00:17:00 i guess what you consider candle wax face yeah well they're british you're right yeah they have that melting face yeah they've got that long jaw but they don't look like they're related they just look british and wow melissa you just solved this and you know my thing i think all british people look related which i mean a lot of them are and we've come back to this they colonized and then they said we got to keep our bloodline so we are inbreeding wow it all comes for a full circle so if anyone else thinks they look related let me know um but this one is just like i also think like it gives me so many questions about how how people have to change their names for sag but not like your last name can be like exactly this you can even have like the same syllables
Starting point is 00:17:56 or whatever like changing spelling and anything like that because it's like oh no people will get confused as if like they're not but it's also like payroll related that's fair and then credit related because we don't want people to be credited in the same way like somebody might think this is x y and z in this movie when it's the other person like john and but then you have john and joan cusack that you can't tell me that they're not getting each other's paychecks that's like we've got two letters off and they're also actually related though i know and they also have the same exact thing and there's another one of them yes and who has also has the same it's exact opposite of the hemsworth brothers where like two of them look alike and the other one's like damn
Starting point is 00:18:36 who invited him but like huh i guess i just really want an snl sketch with paul thomas anderson and wes anderson together or they do like an opposite day kind of thing for april fools one of them like drops a trailer for the other one's movie and it's like shot in that same style like but to be fair i do think mon said he's never thought about this before so i do wonder who the only person who is like they're not related i'm sure people have gotten it confused there was that snl sketch where they had hillary's running mate come out that no one remembers that mate oh yeah god what was him but he also looks a lot like com was right yeah like tim walls yeah and i think his name was tim too yeah and so they had him come out and people are like y'all don't even
Starting point is 00:19:19 remember who i am that's what i that's what i want that's what i want kane tim kane yes yes but god that would just i just think that like there's an opportunity if you have a director who's like your peer who like you're releasing the same like not the same movies but you're releasing like both very stylized kind of like movies that are very film bro referential all that and you're releasing movies honestly they release movies almost the same year like every time i don't like damn you guys are like really right after each other and then like you just like walk a red carpet and pretend you don't know each other exists like come on like at least like pretend to be cousins like i just think that would be fun but i also never heard either of
Starting point is 00:20:00 these men speak so i don't know if they have the personality for that probably not the kind of movies that they made i was about to say making movies for the kind of people that are in their head a lot so heady i don't know these men they might be lovely i don't know but well paul thomas anderson dated fiona apple what i need is a good difference someone literally did an indie wire article is like a link of all of their movies like like side by side have like the same theme that are coming out on the same time i think they have crushes on each other i take back my entire new hot take i kind of ship paul thomas anderson and wes anderson i just knew there was a link between the two of them that's really what i should have gone with because i i see no link
Starting point is 00:20:46 between guillermo del toro and benicio del toro like it was just that benicio del toro's in thomas anderson movie trailer that started all of this i was like oh he's not related either i was like zero for i was oh for two but um yeah i ship wes anderson and paul thomas anderson maybe they're the new coen brothers maybe that's why people say that they're brothers in their name so people you don't assume otherwise okay maybe that's what it is i'm looking benicio del toro don't ever cut your facial hair off ever again wait when did he do that i don't it's in when you google his name who is that man right wait he looks like johnny knoxville wait doesn't he look like like yeah what wow i would not know who that man is who is it that he looks so much like that i like could
Starting point is 00:21:36 not tell the difference between him and oh he looks very similar not when they speak though um who married hillary burton but that's him and another man look exactly like two really um hold on yeah jeffrey dean morgan and oh and um um ghost marvel oscar isaac no javier gordon oh my all three of them put him in a movie triplets attractive men all of you never shave your facial hair never i don't if you have to glue it on to keep it that's fine did you see that graham norton revealed that like hair transplants for men don't work and that like every every actor that you know who has like gotten a thicker hairline that they're just wearing hair pieces or they're going back numerous times he's like he's like after a certain point they can't do
Starting point is 00:22:29 it anymore he's like no wigs and everyone's like how do you know and he goes i've i have a hair makeup trailer here there's i know the soup fella joel mckale joel mckale said that he's gone back like four or five times and that hair is still wispy yeah you just just put a hairpiece on apparently chris evans wears wigs yeah i saw that too which that makes sense yeah we've i remember when his hair started going away yeah in like a perfect score that man was he was not gifted with longevity in those follicles yeah and that's fine if you do what you do whatever you want to do with your hair if you want to shave it off depending on how you look if you want to shave it off if you want to have a wig if you want to get a lace front if you want to get surgery if you just want
Starting point is 00:23:21 to comb it over do what you want to do all i ask is that we don't forget the hairline where we came from if you had a strong widow's peak i don't think now is your opportunity to have a thick full luscious straight line across that to me i agree and i say that as someone with the widow's peak yeah i've got cowlick one widow's peak combo so i just need you to know that like we're here to support you in your hair journey but but we're not here to like we're not starting from scratch let's let's the bones of this house were good let's build up this house don't knock it down right don't knock it down okay the end all right let's take a break when we get back we'll get into but are you wrong
Starting point is 00:24:11 we are back it is time for but are you wrong this is where we read your submissions for the circumstance or situation you have found yourself in that you would like to know if you are in the wrong about you can send them to but am i wrong pod at gmail.com we also have a form you can fill out that's listed in our socials as well as the show notes and we ask that you keep it under 300 words use pronouns if you would like gotta tell us how old you are but tell us the situation and we will tell you if you are wrong i'm in a weird mood today okay so i feel like getting a little weird this has been on our docket oh no for months oh god i know exactly what you're saying and we've been skipping over it because we don't know what the fuck you're talking
Starting point is 00:25:15 about but let's present it to the maybe they can help us yeah maybe y'all can help us decipher what the hell this means and you brighter you can also help us with some more clarification all right here we go watching a lot of tv is the only good thing about being sick so says lorelei gilmore and so says i well i think a lot of people will say that especially us that had grandparents that watched the price is right now four days into a terrible cold allergy down spiral I am naturally consuming an inordinate amount of series and movies of streaming services one of them days and the resident per your recommendations both of which I thoroughly enjoy now that SZA is part of SAG and exploring her acting interests I perked up when she came
Starting point is 00:26:16 across my screen on a Hulu commercial I don't normally attend to ads but I heard her voice and then saw her as Catwoman. I thought, this looks like a great crime comedy film. What is this and when can I see it? Then it revealed itself as a State Farm commercial. I haven't seen this commercial, have you? No, I mean, look it up.
Starting point is 00:26:43 But she would be so good as a vigilante in a crime comedy. It would be so good and much better than whatever the hell Daredevil is. disagree yeah people love daredevil that's a crazy fucking thing to make i love daredevil wait hold up they said this feels like she just played catwoman in the commercial commercial yeah i want us to move away from these action-packed superhero movies to campy superhero again like the 1996 batman tv show oh 1966 batman tv show and then you gave batman 1966 the batusi youtube
Starting point is 00:27:26 i guess that's what you would like us to see i don't have to go see because i watched a ton of this this used to come on nick at night and then later what was the other channel that turned that was from nick at night but it was a whole network oh whatever that was called it was on there i was watching it i love the classic so i know exactly what you're talking about bam okay also that's where we got earth the kids cat woman which i would say is the greatest cat woman ever anyway thunderbolts is a good indicator toward a sort of shift from boring serious superheroes to exciting and fun supers. And SZA as a cute and fun yet meaningful superhero vigilante could and should be a reality. Also, I agree. I want more Cordelia Cup. Well, sorry, when you wrote this, it wasn't
Starting point is 00:28:23 canceled. It's canceled now. I think I would prefer, though, if it isn't through a continuation of the series The Residents, but through other limited series. She's previously done cases at places other than home so why would she only solve cases in residences well that's the name of the show yeah i think it would be fun a fun way to differentiate it from other shows tv series and they could all be part of the cordelia cup collection are my television and film opinions wrong yeah well mostly because like did you see thunderbolt thunderbolt is by far the darkest marvel movie i've seen ever like the like not to spoil for like anybody but like the theme of thunderbolts like is the most like i would say like realistic villain because like it is it is
Starting point is 00:29:12 like quite literally about like the psychological effects of like mental health and like abuse and like like being a prisoner of your own mind like it is not like no campy and light-hearted and fun do you want campy watch the batman lego movie which i think is one of the greatest batman movies ever but it's also very campy and meta i love that yeah watch the first ant-man yeah watch watch uh madame webb like there are other ones and like you're talking to someone who like i'm addicted to bad campy action movies but like thunderbolts is like not not like not one at all and like i i sisa is like very talented um i don't i just watched that commercial i don't know what you saw from that that was like she should play cat woman because she's not even
Starting point is 00:30:11 committed to she's half like it is like she's being like she's not even like going full into it on purpose which i'm like so do we just want action movies that are just like snl skits of like people reenacting do you know what i mean like doing a a version of it yeah um i i um i don't know if sisa is new to the acting world and i don't know yet if she has the range to do that maybe one day but the script the thing about campy things is that the script has to be so good like it needs to come from somebody that loves comedy but also is very good at drama too yeah and the the the best performances and really campy things are people who like go it's like parker posey or like um like kiki palmer like people who like do not play into the humor of it
Starting point is 00:31:05 at all like it is like you go full throttle to to to that like it's not like haha i'm in on the joke like you can't be in on the joke if you want it to be like truly truly campy yeah and like if we are big believers in bringing back campy productions and like you didn't mention the one that we talk about all the time where i think if you truly meant it that you wanted campy things brought back you would have brought up scream queens and you didn't maybe you haven't seen it but scream queens is exactly what you want yes and unfortunately the world is not ready for it and like i don't know that that's like scissors her niche will be like campy right thanks and i will say too i think like superhero movies get like a lot of like
Starting point is 00:31:47 shit of being like so pedestrian or like not like you like the acting in them is actually deeply important and like that's why the best marvel movies like involves like actors who you're like oh this person like like florence pew who can like really motherfucking act and you're like oh okay this is actually needed to do a really good job at this because like that none of the world is believable so you really have to sell it and make me believe it as as a character like that yeah i just i like cannot imagine sisa being like being excited for like 12 hour days in a harness doing stunts no not at all but we know she can flip and stuff so yeah that's there but i think she's like i'm not like i'll flip you can't flip me yeah but i i love where
Starting point is 00:32:34 your heart is me too i want to know what you're sick with and if you're on medication because me this giving a little like okay first person we saw they are the savior of the industry coherent i will say it is it is it is yeah like exciting and fun superheroes being the thunderbolts from boring serious i'm like for sure for sure we did have a scene in that that just replays of someone having to like murder another child as a child over and over and over again like it's very dark i love your enthusiasm yeah i also will say candy i love watch the the guardians of the galaxy movies yeah i love a good state farm commercial the fact that that's the one that stuck with you like i like a good neighbor was jake in it too i haven't seen it no it has jason
Starting point is 00:33:23 bateman who you know terrifies me um but if you i think he's a i think jason bateman is the perfect person to have like if you were going to see two people in this commercial jason bateman is a comedic actor but also a serious actor but he's usually the straight man in the comedic roles like he's very good at that yep yeah he commits he fully commits to it he's also been acting since he was a child yeah that always trips me up i was actually when i was going to see the suit they were playing old tv shows in the lobby and i think it was knight rider that he was on which you probably have no clue what knight rider is it was his old i don't even know what knight rider's job was but mr job mr feeney so mr feeney is the voice of the car named kit and he had like
Starting point is 00:34:17 a smart car back in the 80s okay and mr feeney's voice was a voice of kit in this this show and then night he might have been a detective or something i don't know what like a kid detective no no no no removed from that okay removed from that so there's who was i think it was uh yeah it was david hasselhoff and he was um you could watch this and this will fulfill everything that you want he was a sleek and modern crime fighter assisted by kit who was his car an advanced artificial intelligent self-aware car okay also once you finish that watch transformers and so kit would guide him and talk and be like a wisecracker while he's going on his little mission and then in one episode there's a tiny little kid in it and he was like digging in the dirt
Starting point is 00:35:17 or something and my friend that i was with was like i think that's jason bateman oh my god and it was Jason Bateman wait that's so funny yeah also if you want campy action movies Hobbs and Shaw Fast and the Furious um Bad Boys Bad Boys 2 for life maybe you need women-led camping movies Scream Queens um uh Confession no not well Confession of the Tandem Queen is relatively campy um my favorite star del mar is a great film um um drop dead gorgeous um i want to say desperate housewives is quite campy it is desperate housewives is camp the laura croft movies and watch a cat woman movie fucking the um um spy we love spy charlie's angels the new charlie's angel the new charlie i've actually the charlie's angel tv series camp charlie's angels the 90s movie
Starting point is 00:36:21 series high camp the newer charlie's angels movie mid-camp older ones is much more campy No, not Nuevo. Nouveau camp. Nuevo. Do you like shark movies? A lot of shark movies are campy. J-Lo movies. Specifically J-Lo playing stalkers or people being stalked.
Starting point is 00:36:45 Yes. Yeah. Like, I love this. Movie starring The Rock. Jumanji. Very campy. Okay. If anyone has any more suggestions, let us know.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Yeah. Okay. Now that we've said this, I don't think you're wrong about wanting more camp. No, I don't think so. But the SZA thing is what threw me off. The SZA thing is where I'm thinking the cold medication. Maybe that was like your log line that you started with
Starting point is 00:37:08 when you were really like, we were big on Tamiflu. And then as you came down, you're like, let me write the intro and the outro. And like, we stuck with the SZA in the middle. But yeah, I think maybe you just need, you are giving director energy who's like, I actually can't see unless someone is in front of me in the costume with the outfit.
Starting point is 00:37:26 I can't see them as this role where they're like, i can't picture her as a brunette and it's like just close your eyes and use your imagination so maybe you have a future the new kiki movie that we should watch maybe that's something we should do you don't want to see it you already watched it bitch sorry i said i was gonna do a watch i know but i'll watch it again i loved it i had i literally wasn't even gonna tell you that i saw it but it came up see and that's why we can't discuss things before because you tell on yourself i know i know i was gonna tell you that i was like okay i'm gonna i'll watch it this week and then we can discuss it next week we can also watch it again it was but it was so and you're
Starting point is 00:38:05 gonna do you know who i think was the funniest in the whole movie oh pete davis oh i don't say evil angoria because that would be shocking no she was fine she was you know she's funny to me but like i was like i don't think she's in it no but as her role's not like yeah you know i think um glory not glory was it what was her name on desperate housewives um was it gloria gabrielle gabrielle um she was really funny on desperate this she wasn't like written to be like the funny like she had her funny moments but pete davidson was i was like there is one fucking line that killed me in it because i was like whoever wrote this there was no like they wrote this for pete davidson to play this role for this specific line and i was like and you could tell that he
Starting point is 00:38:58 just like he knew that he it was supposed to be him and he was supposed to be there because like he was just he was doing his reactions he was he i think he had a really i think he had so much fun filming this movie and i'm turns out i didn't realize that like i actually mean i'm an eddie murphy girl like i looked back you mean you didn't realize you literally said this months ago but but i like went back and looked because i was literally every time eddie murphy any and he did his little like just like his little like comedy bits where he's like doing like the hand but he's describing things and i was cackling i'm always like damn he really he really does it for you and i looked back on his imdb and there is a whole section where i'm like i've seen every one of
Starting point is 00:39:37 these movies like yeah i had a whole thought process where we where you said i need more eddie murphy i need him i love him where has he been and i said you've missed his black movies because he's been booked and busy and no since the time and then i said he has this movie coming up i'm literally making a list on my letterbox of the eddie murphy movies i missed because the fact that i almost ran back dr doolittle 2 and dr doolittle 1 i was like i gotta watch him again and monster's like maybe you should see some of the other things he's done i was like the point he's so funny coming if you've never seen coming to america the first one i've only seen it on so good don't watch coming to the second one it's terrible oh well i think we spent enough time
Starting point is 00:40:25 breaking this down yeah time for the next this is a bit of a rant and a bit of asking if i'm being dramatic i 29 she hurt enjoy taking dance classes and want to take more however comma i hate how it's become standard for people to show uh oh to set up their little phones at the front of class and record i know it's to capture themselves dancing but there's always going to be casualties in the background this isn't a recital i'm in class to get better not to have people recording and posting my sweaty clumsy self in the background of their videos i wish it were more common to keep it phone free maybe at the end do one last run for anyone wanting to record themselves i feel like my options are either a to not take dance classes b take classes
Starting point is 00:41:03 online or c ask people not to record none of which seemed too great so am i wrong to my aversion to being filmed in dance class am i just insecure for not wanting to be filmed i've been trying to put myself out there more and be okay with doing things badly in front of people when i consent to it i don't think taking a dance class automatically means i should have to consent okay thanks love you both bye i don't disagree at all okay so they're saying that it's like people within the class because like i've had teacher well actually i've also never had like i've only ever had like teachers like when i'm like at a studio who will like record us because we're all students of the studio not like just like a adult dance class that's the only time i bet like because
Starting point is 00:41:40 like they need to see us you know i mean like that's the only time that i would have seen it but like i i'm a big believer if like if you want to film yourself working out um you can have a home gym or you can set up a space in a corner in the far back and like if you're dancing in the front that's you no no you're filming in the back if you want to film yourself you need to be in the back where there's no one behind you and there's not like window like there's not like people just like working out behind glass that they can see like that's what it is and I will be honest with you most studios dance studios workout studios all of that stuff have privacy uh you are not allowed to film within class I think when you were taking classes yeah but I think now it's a lot
Starting point is 00:42:25 different when i was doing my um twerking and pole classing classing classes we would have like they it would be like everybody needs to be filming themselves like it was like you i didn't want to for but they were like yeah have them out i saw like for example i saw recently a um woman was in a yoga class and she said it was on tiktok and she set up her camera and was like it's so rude that this lady moved so i wouldn't be on her camera and everybody was against her because they were like why that woman didn't want to be filmed so she just moved she didn't even say anything she just got up and moved and the woman that was that had got up and moved then made a video to be like i didn't want to be on camera so i moved um and then also i saw this
Starting point is 00:43:19 woman was in a yoga class with simone biles and she put her camera up and was like i'm in this class and like simone was next to her and i'm like i don't think simone wanted to be recorded do you know how many celebrities i've taken workout classes yeah and i don't bring my fucking phone out maybe that's an la thing like la like a lot of studios here like you can't like if you brought like if you brought your phone into soul cycle they would well i think that's also just maybe maybe join some of the culture ones that are like we're isolating you from the outside world but like i to me this is like i would tell someone at the front to be like hey i'm really not comfortable that there's someone who like films in here like is there a policy
Starting point is 00:43:56 with that or like and then they can make an announcement like the teacher can make an announcement at the start of class even like one of the places i went to get my hair done they i couldn't fill out my consent form for them to do my hair without also filming filling out a thing consenting to be on camera and i'm like i don't want to be on camera like and so i called them and i said hey i'm not filling out this and this was also after i had paid for my deposit it was like the next thing and i'm like i don't want to be on camera and they're like oh that's totally fine but like it shouldn't be an extra step where i have to call and be like i don't want to be on camera that's wild to me like anytime like i'm given like a release in yeah
Starting point is 00:44:36 like a release form i use they're like oh just sign it and i was like yeah you can call my agents right if you want but like i also think like not even in terms of like that part where it's like you can't use my face and my whatever to do to promote or whatever but like i would just be like i would lie and be like i'm in the witness protection program you need to not you can't do this yeah no and like you also don't know about the people in domestic violence that you like or if they're like anything about that of like their safety if they have a stalker like just anything that like they're i yeah i mean this is like this is blowing my mind because like i have not been to like a workout studio in a while but like i was a very like a frequenter
Starting point is 00:45:16 and like i'm someone who like i have social media i post on social media i would post like workout related stuff i wouldn't even take like mirror pics at pilates with anyone in the background like i would either get there early or do it at the end and wait till nobody's wait till like nobody is there and like any like workout stuff like i'm i'm posting like my feet i'm not posting me doing a workout and like you're in front of a mirror the whole point is like no one and you're not teaching anyone to do anything you're just showing that you're doing it yeah but like when i was in the the twerking class it was like so you can see your progression i'm like okay yeah but i understand i don't want to be i don't want to be in other people's videos
Starting point is 00:45:55 though no i don't know where they're posting this you need to be far enough away from each other also you're in a compromising position and compromising attire and that specifically but like that the only aspect of that i can understand is like because you're spinning you're not there's not mirrors all around you all the time like there's a certain way you can see yourself better i'm talking about also in the twerking class they wouldn't spin in anywhere we were on the ground hunching i do not want other people to have that on their phones and like maybe you don't even want to have that on your own phone like what if you're like oh i have a like you know i've got like a kid who like has like i've got youtube kids on my phone
Starting point is 00:46:31 for them to watch miss rachel and there's just a no i don't want that like that's yeah this is just this is really wild to me and like i yeah i think i'm ignorant and naive in the aspect of like i thought there was privacy policies in more places i guess social media is so big now that people are like encouraging it yeah because it's free advertisement yeah but this to me is like say something to like the studio because i promise you the instructors hate it they hate it they don't want that because it also makes people insecure and like depending on they don't want to come back to said class wow no so say say something maybe we just need to bring back photo bomb all right we're gonna take another break when we get back we'll get into but are they wrong
Starting point is 00:47:30 we're back it is time for but are they wrong and you are up first i am my wrong of the week is dean came so um as you all know i love superman i grew up watching superman even the black and white versions of it um and then but then like my clark kent was dean kane on lois and clark the new adventures of superman and i love this man i watched it when i was of like first grade i was watching this show and then when they started replaying on tnt when i was pre-teen i was like this part of my sexual awakening right now and then he started popping off at the mouth and we learned that this man is just this man of japanese descent is a raging racist like so racist it's wild and um this week he this week as in yesterday from when we're recording
Starting point is 00:48:47 this he announced that he has signed up to be an ice officer this 59 year old man has signed up to be an ice officer this man that is constantly on fox news praising that's where i recognize current day him i was like why do i know his fucking face yeah that's because he doesn't have a job anymore and all he stays on fox news and he's been like he also criticized the new superman movie and said it was too woke and um his lowest lane is terry hatcher whoa yeah like that is what really she okay so she was on an episode of seinfeld where she was like they're real and spectacular and so like that was her like breakthrough in tv and then she was on huh about boobs yeah okay and it was like it's one of the most famous lines from
Starting point is 00:49:49 she's got great tits yeah and then and because the whole thing was like he they were like arguing like if her tits were real or not and then the end of the episodes they're real and they're spectacular and then she was on lois and clark the new adventures of superman um and she was lois lane and they were amazing together they had like their chemistry was undeniable she also i don't know if you know this but her you probably don't know but she had this picture where she was wrapped in superman's cape naked seemingly she just didn't have a top one okay but it was very annie lebowitz it was but it was like in color and not sad looking she looked into it she looked like she had blood within her body she looked like she was alive the most downloaded when
Starting point is 00:50:34 they were tracking these things which you can't really do anymore it was the most downloaded picture it was like in the world moment yeah okay yeah so um like they were a cultural phenomenon at the time okay um and so like now he's just constantly talking shit online about anybody that isn't white which he isn't fully white uh and is now an ice officer i didn't even know you could just like sign up like it's well they've been doing like casting calls basically for recruiting ice like this past week and i think they're really just trying to make him like the spokesperson is what i would think it's actually happening an episode of brooklyn 99 where they like hire an actor to be like the face of this and then like can't actually do any like they really are
Starting point is 00:51:27 trying to make this a more desirable job yeah it's 50 hours an hour no actor has the thick enough skin to be like handled having being booed at like constantly except for him he's gonna because he hasn't been working no he hasn't been working and he's been booed at that skin is thick he also seems like he takes care of his body in the in the mar-a-lago kind of way so i think he might be very buoyant i think you could throw things at him and they'd bounce right back off wow he's always constantly talking about he can't get a job because he is pro-trump and stuff and i'm like kelsey grammar stays booked and busy yeah it's your talent you couldn't get a job back in the day after superman either no i literally
Starting point is 00:52:17 know nothing about him besides that what you have told me like you went to santa monica high school what oh my god his he played his schoolmates were charlie sheen and rob low damn must be hard to grow up next to rob low he also like played professional football for like a second and then got cut oh my god he joined 2020 he joined another police yeah in idaho wow he actually something in common with my wrong of the week idaho well what a fucking loser yeah this is like the big unemployed final boss i'm gonna join i'm gonna be an ice agent i really think they came to him and we're like we want because he says that trump is one of his very best friends and they've been friends for years and he's such a stand-up guy i really think that
Starting point is 00:53:14 this was an idea they came up with together yeah when they're having a sleepover wait oh my god Kane said he voted for Bill Clinton twice and voted for Al Gore don't you're a liar from from what I've heard from people that have worked on the Superman set including one of my teachers and this was actually the class that Issa Rae came and sat in on back before she had Awkward black girl she wasn't like as famous as she is now but like my teacher said that he was such like from everything i heard he used to be such a lovely man so i i would believe that he did vote for them and then something switched yeah he just he was not employable and then he just got angry and then got took that out on other people oh my god he also he dated brooke shields but he's
Starting point is 00:54:06 fumbled a lot yeah like in the i think when he was in college or football it was something like very early on but he wasn't even famous yet wow and for a long time he was still like he would talk about her all the time yeah he has a kid the kid's probably an adult now he had full custody of the kid so i was like he must be a stand-up guy something changed he's in rat race that's the only that's what i know him from i know him from fox news and the young version of him when i recognize that face it's rat race oh my god he was in a movie called obamagate obamagate colon the movie i know it's a movie it's you don't need to tell me it's a movie in the title of the movie right okay well speaking of idaho
Starting point is 00:54:56 my wrong of the week nomination is sydney sweeney an american eagle oh yeah i didn't pick it just because i figured yeah we talked we've talked about it a bit too um and this also is a geography lesson to me which you know i'm everything becomes a geography lesson when you went to alternative learning for elementary school and you didn't get much of it like montana like melissa telling me yesterday montana is not the south and i said well that is a good point because to me it's southern and then i looked on a map later and i was like it's not even southern from here no it's just i don't know where anything on a map is so um this also helped me learn about idaho and because i thought of idaho as potatoes but i have been rewiring my brain and um because i was
Starting point is 00:55:44 like well idaho potatoes oregon oregon i would say i think of as a combination of um sundown towns and coffee and like barista which is random restaurants yes and weather and like you know it's it feels like conflating and then monster talked to me about um there's like a specific part of idaho that is like touches oregon i have not no idea about any of this yeah it's and that is like nazi white nationalists like the pinnacle of that like the that's like the epicenter of white nationalism in the united states a lot of people that have are descendants of people that were murderingly murdering indigenous people yeah so that's like macho telling me that like and when i think of like montana as like oh you think of militias whatever and he was like you need to
Starting point is 00:56:34 think about this section of oregon and of idaho and i was like whoa and that all came up because that is where sydney sweeney was born and where sydney sweeney grew up and where her family is out of so when people look at this and being like oh she's just she's just your average white american girl who happens to have conservative family members it's like not a normal kind of conservative like if you're conservative in that area you're aligning yourself with like being conservative there is like a different level uh and i don't like to like create like lesser evils of like maga republicans or whatever but i'm like there's levels to it yes and like when that is like a that level and that place and like you would cut your family off if you didn't believe
Starting point is 00:57:19 that um so if anyone doesn't know american eagle released the most the stupidest motherfucking ad in the world the whole series of ads which i think the biggest part that i think is being overlooked i've seen some people talk about this is this is a back to school campaign this is like for kids she's not a kid and when she plays kids she plays hyper sexualized kids and shows about kids that are for adults to watch gross i think it's weird i think it's weird and so the fact that this is what they put their money on for back to school campaign everyone thought american eagle was teasing that it was going to be renee raff and people were like oh my god i love that american eagle needs a reason like you know and prior to this like biggest campaign has been about no
Starting point is 00:57:59 retouching and they did one with ali raisin the olympic gymnast who's been like very open about like her struggles with body image issues and um just like you know being perceived as like strong as women with eating disorders like all of that kind of stuff and who i would say is like a quite literally like cereal box role model like on a fucking like cereal box for kids like she is she's has been that exactly and so for that to be like their last like biggest campaign and what most people like know them for is like being like airy real inclusive like real size real models real people real bodies no retouching to then pivot for our back to school campaign we're going to put sydney sweeney in some ugly ass ill-fitting motherfucking jeans that her ass
Starting point is 00:58:41 cannot fill out and she's going to get up in here and talk about her blonde hair and her dyed blonde hair and her blue eyes and about how she has good genes and genes are passed down from parents from her white nationalist upbringing and this is how she has good genes she has great genes she's got the best genes it's point blank like eugenics nobody's reading too much into it because in marketing campaigns they read too much into everything like when you think back to english classic being like why are the curtains blue and you're like no one cares and thinks about that marketing does marketing everything means something they think about it for so fucking long there is like that's why they have the penis or uh swastika test for graphic design where it's like
Starting point is 00:59:22 you have to think about these things so fucking much it has to pass through so many goddamn fucking people and i think she loves the controversy i think she's all about this i think this was something that this she's not an innocent participant in this and it's like she's just trying to get her money she saw like does her campaign selling her fucking bath water like what are we doing what are we doing and your audience american eagle that's not who's buying this also which a lot of people haven't pointed out this is a they're trying to invoke something that brooke shill's jean commercial that came out in the 80s when she was a child and she was being hypersexualized then too they're also trying to invoke that because it was controversial but why
Starting point is 01:00:06 are you trying to invoke something when Brooke Shields literally came up with a documentary within the last year talking about how terrible this was to her why are you trying to re-invoke that no it's very much giving sexy baby and I'm like what are we fucking doing and then sydney sweeney of all people being like love it let's do it let's do it and i guess like some like it's now become like a meme stock and like like 18 year old like frat bros are like buying the stock like yeah i'm like it's not gonna it's not successful it's not gonna do anything good with that and like it crashed after yeah they had a high and then it was a look 12 hours yeah and just like the it is like such a bad to me like a bad indicator and a
Starting point is 01:00:55 bad omen of like where we are going culturally to the fact that like Abercrombie started as like a deeply exclusive anti-fat anti I mean just like very like pro-white and also you have the Terry Richards of it all and like the exploitation of like young boys and the fact that you're having like teenagers be these like greeting models outside of their like being sexualized people are encouraged to take pictures with them you've got underage models shirtless on these bags that people are hanging it was just all of this is like so so so narrow in this view of like what is uh deemed attractive and victoria's secret was like the same way victoria's secret has not tried as hard as abercrombie abercrombie is like restructured from like top down yeah years and
Starting point is 01:01:43 They had a new commercial that came out, too. And it's been like a decade of them before people started really like actually being like, OK, I'll give Abercrombie a chance. It was like 10 years of a new CEO who like had said that. And I watched an interview with her that she had worked there for years and like worked her way up and was like, I'm not going to change companies. I want I want to transform this place. I want to do it. And it took her one of the one rare people that have actually been able to change from within. Yeah. And she's a white woman.
Starting point is 01:02:08 and like it took her that long to like stay within this company to see how bad it was to be like i'm gonna change it and then not expecting it to pivot immediately and like being like we'll take the small growth we'll take the small growth and like the public opinion of abercrombie has like drastically changed and american eagle didn't start american eagle didn't start at where abercrombie was and instead they're like fuck it went to abercrombie i mean to american eagle because it was the alternative and you could get jeans that fit like a lot of people talk about how good their jeans are yeah but actual jeans and not the denim and like to then have it be like your most successful campaign all about like not retouching your ads and like they were known
Starting point is 01:02:58 for using like most like most of the plus size models like really like championing those careers and all of that stuff that like again even like sports illustrated has like gone from being like just your like typical playboy model to being like oh no we're the discovering of kate upton of like like martha stewart doing all of these photo shoots did gail ever do it or we just did i just put that as a model and like so you have all of this and then for this to just make like such a good like a like a nasty nosedive intentional rage bait on purpose kind of a thing is so deeply disappointing but yeah like an indicator to me of like where we're at that that feels like it's not just as much as I look at it as rage baiting I'm like oh it's
Starting point is 01:03:50 no you know that there's an audience there for it it's not just like rage bait like angry marketing like you know that there are buyers after this yeah but you're exiling your entire the entire like audience you had built up to start with yep it's just like donuts also released one this week too or last week which it's boston so racist as it is but but you know boston they go only we can be racist we don't like you can't do that that's our job i get very weird with it but like yeah I just I think it's deeply disappointing and if anybody has any recommendations of your favorite places to get underwear let me know because I have like most of my favorite underwear is Aerie which by the way is the same thing you can't boycott American Eagle and be like well I still
Starting point is 01:04:41 shop at Aerie those are the exact same company yep and I saw someone who worked in marketing there and was like I'm not shocked at all by this like oh yeah yeah I saw it they used to work there yeah yeah they were like they left like like a year ago or something and they were like this is the mentality of the higher-ups and it was only a matter of time before they let that infiltrate i wonder what glenn powell thinks i knew you were gonna say that hey maybe i'm rage baiting too all right that's the end of our episode join us tomorrow for see you next tuesday wednesday go listen to my audio series coco's giving it rave reviews she loves it horny on main uh thursday we've got don't blame me friday fisting friday and then we'll be back here
Starting point is 01:05:33 on monday what do you ever get those like sex bot messages on instagram yeah so i just got one and like i didn't have it in a while oh my god i think because i was blocking all of them i have been trying and they still keep coming back and i like didn't mean to open this and i accidentally read it and i just have to read you a couple of them of how they phrase them okay hello pussy you are invited to my private show then this one my vagina personal video is no my personal video is here and my vagina is very itchy please come here enjoy my big tits and tight pussy babe no I'm sorry, my vagina is very itchy, is my favorite. But they also called you a pussy.
Starting point is 01:06:15 Yeah, all of you are like, hello, pussy. Hi, gay. We're sashing, we're into deals. Oh my God, they've sent so many about their vagina being itchy. They need to fix their chatbot. Nobody wants to look at an itchy vagina. I was like, do you have a yeast infection? Go to the doctor.
Starting point is 01:06:31 We should, let's go get this checked out. Sounds a little yeasty. Want some yogurt? We need some fermented things up in here. Whew. Okay, sorry. just killed me i was like why does it say itchy gross the end the end the end all right that's the end of this episode so we will circle back goodbye
