Starting point is 00:00:47 love to make a noise you do love to make a noise that's actually like maybe should be your bio description Melissa loves to make a noise what kind of noise you don't know what you're gonna get I don't even know maybe guttural maybe high pitch something that's you know sensual something that is foul some you know there are so something musical something um primal like there are things that sometimes Melissa likes to make sounds that the the true foley artist that you are yeah and the only sounds that I make are pretend wind yeah you're like um but yeah i can make a noise and then you can sample it perfect yeah just call me phineas up in here friend of the pod friend of the pod i mean that's not that's
Starting point is 00:01:44 one that we can we can he's been on the podcast every time i see his like face on spotify it's like a jump scare because I know him as my friend's long-term boyfriend and friend of the pod before I know him as like a musician and so I'm just like oh yeah and then I'll listen to a song like this is good this sounds familiar I'm like oh this is literally funny I was like that's why I at that movie premiere that I went to uh-huh before everything shut down um he was up talking and i was like why is he up there no no i know i have to literally have to keep remembering because i'm just like he he of all people is like so first of all he he and i have very similar i have a homeschooled leo vibe um he is a homeschooled leo i'm just not homeschooled so the vibe like i'm
Starting point is 00:02:36 like we just connect on that level that i'm like i forget that you're like supremely talented and that song lissa is what actually sparked the fact that i had to make i the first playlist i made this weekend which is called right in the jugular which is just songs that like stab you with emotion good or bad like whoa and that's the first song on the playlist because every time i hear it i hear the opening notes and i go those are tears in my eyes let's either lean in or skip the song if it's an inappropriate reaction based on what i'm at in my day anyways uh it's 15 friday which means that we are going to read the results from last week's episode of but am i wrong and it's fantastic it's wonderful it's amazing and we've got these new graphics which you know they're cute
Starting point is 00:03:19 they're wonderful they're amazing and hopefully by the time that you are hearing this you can head on over to the instagram and the votes for this week's episode are live you put these up so fast i was proud of you thank you and um except there's a butt coming i can feel it no no no i Which is, it's not a bad but, but like, you put them up so fast that I forgot that you had already put them up. And so last night I was like looking, I was like, why are these people responding to something that hasn't been put up? Hey, you know, I was just crazy on top of it. Sometimes that happens. Not always or even a lot.
Starting point is 00:04:03 but it's the um i just keep running for it you know so this was episode 80 damn look at us i believe we've done that many episodes i know it's a lot i don't know i have no idea how many we've done for don't blame me but that's none of our business so first up we have me it's a mindset it's not our business if we say it's not our business there are a lot of things are none of my business but this is legit our business once i also recently said as in today to mods something about tax he says thing about taxes and i go that is none of my business he goes it's truly your business for your business and i'm like yeah okay yeah so my optics megan says influencing is not for straight cis men four percent said i was wrong 96 said i was not wrong
Starting point is 00:04:59 someone said i really like zach and keith from the try guys and here's what i'm gonna say to that zach and keith from the try guys with love both friends of the pod are not influencers they are content creators and they are creating content from like a literal production team with a studio they're like doing this the man who inspired this is sitting in his home on his like in his fucking desk chair next to his what i assume is you know those old desks with like the pc that doesn't even turn on like he's sitting there lip-syncing i mean i'm leaving lip-syncing doing karaoke to taylor swift while people send him money on tiktok live that is not this that is an influencer that is that is there is a huge fucking difference between
Starting point is 00:05:53 that and zach and keith like it's just it's not it's just not the same it's not the same and it's follows in my one of my overarching belief systems which is you know one normalized divorce and second double standards are fine as long as i agree with them and that is one of them what does the divorce have to do with this no it's just like one of my overarching thing oh someone recently commented like got a youtube notification like they're like youtube studio notifications are not good like you'll like get one randomly a couple months later or like they'll only do one to like count for like 100 or something um but and i rarely click them but i clicked on one yesterday and it was literally yesterday like yesterday the day
Starting point is 00:06:39 before and someone had commented on the podcast episode with ned saying oh this didn't age well i'm like no it did not they were a little late to the party i know i'm like how does it got a refresh it got a huge ref i think that was maybe one of my most viewed and like most interacted tweets with ever god it was so fucking funny anyways all right then me melissa has a problem with the shaman bears who's wrong 20 said i was wrong 80 said i was not wrong honestly i thought that would be more controversial because people seem to love those little bears um yesterday as i was watching television another commercial with them came on and it made me angry to the one where i wanted to throw it was one where the dad leonard is in the bathroom and i don't remember
Starting point is 00:07:42 what he was saying because at this point i tuned it out but then the three little bears were standing outside the bathroom like commenting on what was going on in the bathroom sometimes moxville i'm like peeing he will just like stand outside he's like how you do and i'm like literally leave like just leave i don't want it like i love you and then if i'm like okay i'm gonna go poop and he'll like follow me and then just stand outside the bathroom like i genuinely need you to leave because i'm about to scroll on reddit and like watch a youtube video while i poop like i don't want to talk to you about this maybe he learned it from them maybe that it would make sense and this is why i mentioned being someone said i didn't realize they were still alive i
Starting point is 00:08:26 cackled when i fucking read that one i was like yeah i guess you do think about like different mascots or are they called mascots when it's like a brand yeah like that they live forever or is it they're just it's like when goldfish die and you replace them and you don't tell anyone well since they're animated they can live forever it's true someone said obviously melissa is not wrong but every time i see their eyes i spiral over again why who the fuck approved this shit which i thought was a good choice of words yes shit shit the operative word next up we have writer number one versus their parents who think the bachelorette that came out as gay only went on the show for fame two percent said the writer is wrong 98 said the writer's
Starting point is 00:09:18 parents are wrong a couple people responded and said they voted accidentally saying the writer is wrong, but I think that's the only writing we had for that one. Then we've got writer number two versus root customers. 40% said the writer is wrong. 60% said the writer is not wrong. So a lot of people wrote in on this one. Writer isn't wrong, but I could see how people maybe are caught off guard or if she's sitting behind a desk, if people don't think she wants to engage. Someone said, I was really conflicted on this one because while I don't think the writer is wrong per se. I don't think most of the customers are being intentionally rude if the writer's not saying goodbye to them in their direct sight line. I work in a store myself and the only customer I
Starting point is 00:10:02 find rude are the ones who come to the register and ignore me when I say hello to them to their face. In situations where I'm a customer myself if the if the worker suddenly greets me and I'm not expecting it my brain sometimes doesn't allow me to greet back because I don't have enough time go process. So an awkward smile usually happens. But when I go pay, I can be prepared and will be super nice. So that situation might be something that where the customer's not prepared to greet back. I agree with that one wholeheartedly. Like your brain needs time to process it and like context clues. You know, if you can't see the person, you sometimes like don't think they're talking to you and you don't want to be like, hi. And then it's like, oh, yeah. And you're on the
Starting point is 00:10:45 phone specifically that's the one I think is why it's best best to be like in eye like eye shot of people and also not wearing headphones because automatically like we've all before the age of like airpods or like when airpods like first started coming out like everyone would be like oh hi and it's like we've all now learned to just like if someone has headphones in we're not going to assume they're talking to us or like we can't see them or hear them yeah so I think it's a learning curve yeah i will wear headphones when i do not want to talk to people yep and there'll be nothing in them i do that because i like to eavesdrop literally that's like me on the plane like all the fucking time someone said former retail manager i get her frustration but honestly
Starting point is 00:11:25 she will eventually get over it like customers are a hit or miss sometimes some are nice and others are karens and beyonce i said it best when she said that karens are turning into terrorists someone said i think the writer's only half wrong but only because of the same reasons you said if people are being rude, they're going to make it obvious. However, I don't think they're wrong for feeling ignored to a certain extent. People just don't treat customer service workers like human beings. I don't necessarily like being watched over by a sales associate, but when it comes to small businesses specifically, I love a little pleasant conversation at checkout. At my last retail job at a small business, I made it a point to remember regular customers and call them by
Starting point is 00:12:02 name they seem to really like that which led to being treated like an actual person and not a machine but that's also not necessarily for everyone while it's nice to feel a bit bonded with customers you can't expect it out of them i say the vast majority just want to shop and mind their business so like right but also wrong yeah i don't think the intent and i think it's what we said when people are saying the same thing of like moving the desk is a good idea because i don't think any of it is necessarily intentional and then when it is intentional then you'll then know which ones are intentional because the worst is like when you i do it all like where you like misread a situation like i've done that where like i think someone's being
Starting point is 00:12:41 nice and then i'm like oh no you actually hate me and i'm like oh fuck or like the opposite of that so the more you can like streamline that kind of thing then you can reserve the true like cunty pettiness for the people who deserve it and not the people who you're just like oh shit did i yeah read this wrong and i'll say my father who was uh miscongeniality mr fully mr but also in the furniture business he would stage the desk so it looked like so he put it near the front of the store but staged it to look like it was part of the displays so then he could be right there when people came in if he was there that's smart yeah it's very smart i think everyone should be allowed to sit at their job and so like i also think that we should implement in like
Starting point is 00:13:28 everyday life the kinds of stool slash chairs the rolly ones that doctors have where they can like get from like one room to the other with just like one one little leg pop that and i'm like we need those in everyday life like i want that in my kitchen like i want that everywhere doing everything and i think people who work retail whatever they work you should be able to have that yeah then you could just be there once when i was working in retail i had a secret shepherd come in and they gave me a bad score but it was only because it was i don't know why they would have somebody come in during the holiday season and it was the store was packed it was on a saturday and there were six steps that we're supposed to go through with each customer and because and i
Starting point is 00:14:11 was the only person working and there was no possible way i could go through each six steps you'll lose sales yeah and so the woman was like she was great like she was super nice she was super attentive but she didn't go through these things and i was just like there were so many people in here i literally i had to work the register and the floor there was no way and i was like whatever yeah no it's like at the end of the day it's not like i got like in trouble or anything my sales were exceptional look at you finally something that i have not been able to get off my feed which I'm very fucking okay with Melissa when I I watched I need everyone to watch the promo video for this episode it's so funny it took me a little while to get it up so you might
Starting point is 00:14:55 have missed it but I did include I couldn't even include her whole fucking serve because her serve was longer than the time we took to talk about it Melissa I was like I can't include this like I literally included just a small portion of it and it gave me such a giggle so this is our shared wrong of the week laura sigmund and marihana veljovic and 98 said they're wrong two percent said they are not wrong that two percent i am like a hundred percent sure that those people all messaged and said this was an accident the responses to this are so fucking funny so first off i don't know if you saw this one but someone said okay so i saw the daughter of the woman in the tunnel who was really shocked after bitch baby came in after the match apparently she just
Starting point is 00:15:46 said fuck but the worker woman is someone who reacts really big when someone curses def thought she said a slur something racist but i guess not i also saw that video and i rebuke that information i want to say watching that girl i could see it in her eyes that she was communicating that i knew what she knew and she knew what i knew but she was saying what she needed to say so the other people could hear that and go oh it didn't actually happen but she knew if you knew you knew you could see it in her eyes or i was just like okay cool i whatever we have to say for hr that's totally fine your mom needs to keep her okay cool but we know you know we know you know we know you know we'll know in five years yep and then someone said i don't understand her
Starting point is 00:16:25 sob story afterwards she was borderline cheating rule-breaking and the ref was being too lenient with penalties racism is likely to play here for that like play the damn game yeah that part it's like it's not even borderline cheat like she was cheating but she was doing like the the ones from i've seen a lot of tennis players like stitch these videos and they talk about it and she's doing the kind of quote-unquote cheating that is a lot of people like overlook the first one and it's just kind of like okay you know it's a tough game like we get it like people whatever but it's like the subtle stuff that the only people who can really tell and who really pisses off is the other player so it's like not disrespectful to like the fans necessarily
Starting point is 00:17:09 unless they also really understand the game of tennis and know all of that stuff like for me if there's like an extra long break in between someone serving like i'm not as an audience member like i'm not automatically thinking something's going on especially if the commentators aren't saying it or they're not filming whatever it is so i did think it was like it is so unique like mind game attempted mind game yeah but our gal coco won that shit the whole fucking thing that video of her winning and her mom oh my god i cried yeah i'm so excited i also who she played against lost with grace like yeah she walked off went to well first of all she made a joke about firing her whole team which was hilarious
Starting point is 00:18:08 because some people didn't know she was joking i really hope some people on her team were like it's my job in jeopardy i'm like okay your vibes are unmatched people's mouth mouth like literally dropped i don't know why people think that tennis is like ultra serious like have they not seen all especially specifically the american tennis players like people are like dabbing after they win and they're like i'm like they're these are kids they're having fun this is like a hee hee ha ha and then she went back to the locker room when of course was like mad and was like beating her racket on the ground and just threw it she did that in the locker room where or it wasn't in locker room because why would they have a camera in the actual locker room but
Starting point is 00:18:47 um wherever it was like the prep post yeah and she put it in the trash and she was done with it and then she still goes on to the presser and it's like i'm still number one in the world so yeah yeah i don't think there should be cameras there because people were making like various dude like where it's like if serena williams said this like the shit that people would completely lose their mind over and it's just like there is there is a there's racism in the sport and so it's like instead of the double standard how about you just remove the cameras from these rooms because like you know i think anyone should be allowed to like get angry and especially when you've got all that adrenaline running through you and you've been playing for
Starting point is 00:19:33 was it a couple weeks seemed like forever for a few weeks and it comes down to this final one but like she's still a great player yeah and you lose tennis so quickly like you win really fast and you lose like just in the there's not a lot of like it's always like neck and until the match point And so that's one of those things that it's like, you write like the adrenaline, like you have to get the rest of that out. Like, it's not like you've been slowly declining in the process of it. But USA, USA, USA. So proud. Me fucking too.
Starting point is 00:20:17 There it is. Whoop. There it is. Upside down and inside out. is that the next lyric wow do you know the song it's so cold in the d it's so cold in the d how the fuck are we supposed to keep peace mons didn't know that until yesterday i showed him that i was like in the mons household even though that that song is about murder you know it is but in the mons household it is a christmas tune you know i i feel the festivities
Starting point is 00:20:50 there like that actually doesn't that's not a huge shocker to me what a song it is and i asked him because i had been raised i've been making new playlists because there's been some like new music out that i've been enjoying and i'm like i need to get back to listening music it makes me more creative like i love music um and i was asking him i was like what's like did you say making music playlists oh i was like first of all bitch i did have a garage first i'm so sorry do you not know my origin story no i don't girl girl like i've been a star star was born on august 4th and it was me i you like whatever it was like i was like i used to make like obviously like any other kid make movies where it's like instead of an essay how would i make a movie and i would
Starting point is 00:21:35 always do things like that but specifically i went to steven kate camp shout out um anyone from the Bay Area I don't know if they're anywhere else um but I would only go to like the date like they had like one I couldn't go a lot because it was crazy expensive and you had to also like spend more money to do like more cooler things and one of like the baseline things you could do that is just for like the amount of money it is was actually I think they didn't deal with like the YMCA when my dad worked there something like that that I got to go for a couple days they had one where it was like a garage band class and you could like make music so naturally I spent 85% of the time making me cover art for me my album because I was like this is far more important
Starting point is 00:22:16 um but I learned how to do like garage band and then I took that knowledge with me to high school where friend and I made a Christmas album with all I think we had one original song and then the rest um were parodies of different songs and we had we made a whole leaflet like pamphlet that folded out to a full-size poster of us and then ones with like each individual like photo with the lyrics there so yeah i've uh you could call me a musician megan i've known you for at least seven years uh-huh i believe and i've never heard any of this must be thankful because how many times i told you the same stories over and over and over again and look me brand new information to you and well thank you for sharing now I can't promise a lot more I need to hear the
Starting point is 00:23:10 music though well there's one that's a cover of hey there Delilah um and we changed it to hey there Jackson Carter who's a kid in our class that we used just like wait I do know that yeah so that was from the Christmas album okay um and I like sent him an apology like I don't even know like five years ago and I was like I'm really sorry that was like you know so inappropriate like whatever and i've known this kid since we were like three or something and he was like bro like it's fucking fine like what are you talking about i was like no i just think i'm realizing now he was like well i don't think you would have done it if we hadn't like if we weren't chill and like hadn't known each other for so long he's like no i loved it like don't pretend that
Starting point is 00:23:46 like i wasn't in on this and i was like okay fair see i know all that yeah that information i do not know the origin story of it or there was another song on there instead of um uh gimme gimme which is from i think thoroughly modern millie which is the broadway show um we changed it to i thought it was britney spears oh give me give me more what a song what is it let me see um give me yeah sutton foster oh she's the original i don't know um but uh we changed what she come up so much on this podcast does she yes because i mean i can't talk about oh yeah the thing but the thing because of strike but um she's come up a lot that's actually true she also like comes up and just like across my for you page all the time um and so does the next thing which is related to it so
Starting point is 00:24:37 we did a we did a parody of that song instead of gimme gimme it was gibby gibby from a struck show yes mostly you know that show i was like that was a shout out to the people who like they would like as soon as i say gibby they go i know who gibby is you know who gibby is this is crazy to me of all of the things that i'm like you haven't seen or like we have not crossed that this is the one that i would have never expected it's like no no we share this like there are other ones and i'm like of course we both know this that's why i asked you if you've heard so cold in the d because i'm like that's a high probability but i've never once thought melissa definitely knows gibby wow i love that for us me too so it was gibby gibby was the song
Starting point is 00:25:21 incredible maybe it was abba i don't know whatever it was um have you seen um it's so cold in the deep music video of course most i showed it to mods and he was like whoa and i go that's my girl and i point to the one in the denim in the back dancing and he was like what and i was like no you have to like do you not watch sir you have to assign which one you are and he's like i don't know and i'm like okay i like actually this is too hard to explain the years-long lore of this song and like which character you are to somebody who's never seen it oh so the whole moral of the story was I asked him as I was making these playlists I was playing him some songs and I was like what's like your favorite like song that has come out in the last
Starting point is 00:26:00 couple years because there's like a couple that I was like you know these are like very good songs that I would have like loved from any age and like the fact that they came out this year it feels like they've been around forever and he goes all serious he goes it's so cold in the d and I was like great choice great choice i'm so happy so that's it if anyone wants to follow my spotify i um made a new playlist i've actually made two recently and one of them drugs and whatever no that's not a playlist songs with drugs in them yeah first of all that one is whiplash because you go from different songs with totally different vibes but the one through line drugs no unless that one of them is dedicated to you and something you point out about me it is called i don't have
Starting point is 00:26:45 spotify so i'm telling you okay it is called the white girl shimmy and it's songs that make me want to shake my shoulders and they again are from all different genres all different vibes so you've got Addison Rae. You also have Flyin' a Boss. You have Mabel. You've got, I mean, lots of like British slight EDM. And also
Starting point is 00:27:12 the If I Were a Fish song from TikTok. Megan, why is it as soon as you said that I look down at my phone and that man from my past that is popping up has sent me a Spotify
Starting point is 00:27:29 playlist. Shut the is he watching us right now i know i'm like is there is there a feed in this job that i do not know because that was part of the reason why we were not together because he doesn't have a job he did not keep a job he would have a job for a while and be like i'm done this man has a master's degree vibes well mba so in business oh okay i was like it says this to me something That's what Masters of Business Administration. Wow. That makes a lot of sense.
Starting point is 00:28:04 Not that he is an MPA, but just that's what MPA stands for. Because, yeah, I guess it is crazy. Everyone I know who has an MBA works in business. Yeah. Cool. Okay. Nice, nice, nice. Yeah, he doesn't have a job.
Starting point is 00:28:16 Anyways. All right. Well, that's it for Fisting Friday. Have a spectacular weekend. And we'll see you back on Monday for Don't Blame Me. tuesday for see you next tuesday get a little break on wednesday and then but am i wrong on thursday and then we start all over again start all over
