Starting point is 00:00:00 Boy, oh boy. We've got a jam-packed episode on today's Don't Blame Me. I'm Melissa Diamond Mons, and you are. Megan Rinks. Hello. We talk about so much. We talk about shitty moms, relatable. We talk about trying to conceive.
Starting point is 00:00:17 We also talk about Melissa's movie career, the carpets she's been walking. Or walking past. Or just seeing, and then. I'm good. Hey? Well, I'll see you later. We also talk about my eventful trip to Colorado. And you're like, you just were there.
Starting point is 00:00:39 I know, and I went back, and I'm already back again. Melissa also introduces me to one of the most unsettling AI accounts I've ever seen. Disgusting. Absolutely trash. It is required for you to all look up this account to make sure that you don't know anyone following it because you need to let them know. Because unfortunately, I did have a mutual. And we also talk about the football faker. Yeah, yeah, the scam receiver. Some people are calling them.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Oh, I love that. I love that. And so many other things. But stay tuned. If you want to get some advice from us, you can call us at 310-994-0-976. Leave a voicemail. You can also send us an audio message to Megan Podcast at gmail.com. Or you can fill out the form that's listed in the show notes or type out the email.
Starting point is 00:01:26 So many different ways. We would love for you to. Colin and write in because we obviously took a little bit of a break and just know we're up to date now we are if you've got time time sensitive pressing sort of situation that you're like this is more recent than not we're on we're on the case yeah all right let's get into it Megan somebody left you a comment tell me about it this is from Reagan and says and this is about the BBJ cult yes They said, it gets crazier. To join BBJ, you have to apply via Instagram DM.
Starting point is 00:02:20 And if you were chosen and missed your phone call, that was it. She moved on to the next person. And it was all secret. They wouldn't disclose the address until you were accepted. And then you basically had to sign an NDA. You wouldn't disclose it. What the fuck ever happened to just like going to 24-hour fitness? Like, this is crazy.
Starting point is 00:02:38 I'm floored by this. And like, I understand that like maybe like fitness community. aspect. Like some things are like different. I don't know. But like they're selling you a dream that you're like, oh, this is actually going to change my life. They have to be secretive about it. Like this feels like like this feels like like. I mean some people love that. There's a there's a store in our raw milk, the breast milk. There are bodybuilders who do buy breast milk. There's a store in our neighborhood that has like a sign that says like raw milk. And it's like in a strip mall. I've obviously never been in. And also, So they used to sell, I mean, they still do, sold raw milk my grocery store as a kid growing up.
Starting point is 00:03:17 Like, it's horrible, but like they have always done that. But I was talking to my neighbor yesterday. And we were talking about like something about raw milk. And she goes, you know that store like on the corner there? And I was like, yeah. She goes, I went in. And I go, well, hi. And she goes, I wanted to see who the fuck was buying it.
Starting point is 00:03:32 And I was like, who was buying it? And she goes, nobody. There was nobody in there except for me. And all they have in there is like two big ice chests full of raw milk. And they sell nothing else. And I was like, not even like faiths. That's a front. That's what I said.
Starting point is 00:03:44 I was like, what? Not to stereotype. It is not the people who own the store. It's not what you would think are the raw milk proprietors. Nor is the demographic of the area and specifically the rest of the stores in that strip mall. Also said demographic that statistically consumes the most raw milk. So I've said the same thing. Do they deliver?
Starting point is 00:04:12 Because maybe they're delivering it to those other people, but then why would you need to store? It's a really great question. And it's the only thing they sell. And it's been there, like, since I moved in years ago. How are they going to, how are they affording rent in that building? Great question. Great question. And also like.
Starting point is 00:04:27 It's a perfect front, too, because like. Who's going in there? Right. Who's going in there? And then, like, the people that believe in raw milk? Yeah. They're not asking too many questions. They're not looking at things too deeply.
Starting point is 00:04:41 They've done their own research. in their own research, crickets. Right. You're right. It's a good point. It's a good point. But she's like, I want to go back again and like see if anyone ever buys it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:50 It's probably not, it's a front. It's probably not even raw milk. It's just cow's milk that they're putting in there. Because they know they're going to get less traffic and you're right. Like less attention. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Good point.
Starting point is 00:05:02 Good point. Yeah, it's fucking weird. But I just think about like my like grocery store as a kid, like it would be next to regular milk. Yeah. I've seen it plenty of times. Like, so imagine you accidentally bought raw milk one time. It's like, uh-oh, there's do-do juice in my milk, and now I've got Listeria. Okay, let's get into the advice.
Starting point is 00:05:25 I don't want to think about that too much. Yep. First up, this person is 33, she-her. I haven't spoken to my dad or most of my toxic slash manipulative and violent family members about 10 years. I've made peace with not having these people in my life. I'm sad sometimes to have little family, but not sad enough to compromise myself for their comfort. My issue is now with my mom. She's caused a lot of trauma in my life, but I've worked hard to heal and maintain a relationship
Starting point is 00:05:50 with her because I've wanted to. In recent years, she's shown major growth, was in therapy, and was seemingly working towards being a better person for her granddaughter, my daughter. It hurt that she couldn't get her shit together for me, but I was grateful that she wanted to be a present and reliable grandmother. That lasted about three months, and then... My God, she attacked me last Christmas and we haven't spoken since. She continues to contact me.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Attack you how? I'm assuming violently. Yeah. But like with her fists, with a knife. I'm going to say no weapons. I'm going to, because it's Christmas. Things are closed. Unless she premed, it was really premeditated.
Starting point is 00:06:25 She got a rolling pin. Oh my God. Yeah. Attacked me last Christmas and we haven't spoken sense. She continues to contact me, disrespect my boundaries, and insist on speaking to me with a. third party therapist support. In the time apart, I've discovered that she's a narcissist. Could I told you that? I'm working in therapy on accepting the pieces of her that are not capable
Starting point is 00:06:47 of change. Oh my God. Okay. Now, you have to tell me this is not with a weapon because this next sentence is. I'm now struggling on whether I cut her off completely like I have with the rest of my family or do I have a relationship with her that is so heavily boundered. Both feel like so much work. Having spent most of my life not being able to rely on family, I'm so grateful for friends and chosen family around me. But I'm struggling with wrapping my mind around being someone who exists. in the world, though, speaking to any of the people who are supposed to love you. How do you move forward from that? Sorry, this is a heavy one. You can be very honest. Thank you. Your mom does not love you. Sorry. I mean that in a way that, like, she is supposed to love you.
Starting point is 00:07:22 She loves the idea of you. Yes. And like... She probably loves to control you. And she probably loves having your, having, being a good grandmother and having your daughter not see the version of her that has treated you so poorly. And so, And so, like, that also, she likes hurting you through that. There's no coming. I mean, I think in general, there's no coming back from how she treated you. You've given her, like, so many chances and opportunities. Because, like, you said, I don't think it's wrong to be, like, I have, like, wanted her to change. So I have, like, given her the space to change. And I've changed my expectations and my boundary. And I've done all of these things to create an environment in which, like, I can have a relationship with her because that is what's important to me. And I want that. And you already tried that. So you being like, well, should I just do, essentially you're asking like, should I do a better job of having better boundaries for her so we can still have this relationship? Like, you already did this very measured, very regulated kind of relationship with her because you wanted to keep her in your life. And like, this is how she reacts
Starting point is 00:08:31 to that. Like, it's not fair at all that this is the situation you're in. It really fucking sucks, that this is your mom. And I think, like, unfortunately, like, some people can meet their parents where they're at and other people can't. And, like, your mom is, like, this is not a place where you should ever have to meet anyone at, regardless if this is a family member, someone who's supposed to care about you and love you. And I do think that, like, you are reflecting on the fact that, like, maybe you were giving her this much leeway because she is the last family member. And if she had been the first one to do this, you probably wouldn't hesitate on creating that. like cutting you off like you did with other family members,
Starting point is 00:09:11 but it just feels like this is the last one. And so you want to really try everything as much as you can. And it's just not fair to you. And like even if she's an amazing grandmother, she's not an amazing grandmother because she's mean to her granddaughter's mom. You can try as much as you want to like separate that and like have your kid not know. Your kid will know. Yeah. And it's it's not fair to anyone here in this. And like, her attacking you violently is not, is also not something that's just contained to you. And like you might feel like your daughter will never be subjected to that. But like you can't, you can't know that. And also there is no relationship that anyone I love and care about, them maintaining a relationship with someone so I can maintain.
Starting point is 00:10:07 relationship with someone by proxy, if I knew that that person had been violent towards them and they were doing this for me, like, that does nothing, that does not benefit me. That is not something that I'm like, oh, I'm glad you did that. Thank you. Yeah, I have really nothing more. Megan, you said that very well. I don't really have any additional information, but just adding to your daughter will know. She will know. And because she's doing this to you, she will probably do this to your daughter too. And let's say you drop your daughter off to her. You don't know what's happening when they're together by themselves. And she could be saying stuff like, don't tell your mom what I'm doing or else I'll do this. Don't subject your daughter to that. Because violent
Starting point is 00:10:56 people are violent people and they're going to be violent, period. Yeah. And so I just don't think that this is, you shouldn't be holding onto this relationship just because you think you should. This isn't a healthy, these aren't healthy boundaries for you or her. If you do want to, you know, for your own, just like, I want to have the last word in this, this is all that I'm doing. If you want to talk with her through a third party therapist, make sure, one, that this therapist is an actual therapist and not some person that is. a friend of hers who is just getting on the phone.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Like, you need to get their credentials. You need to see them. It needs to be, like, on FaceTime or something. I wouldn't do it, or Zoom. I wouldn't do it in person because I feel like she's going to manipulate you. And it also should not be somebody that she's been seen for a long time because that person, therapists are therapists, but at the end of the day, they are human. That person could still have a bias towards your mother.
Starting point is 00:11:59 And you don't know what your mom has been telling this person. She's a narcissist. Like you said, like narcissists can put on this persona of who they should be in a situation. And it's not going to be fair to you. So, like, if I were you, I would pick the, if I just need to say my last piece with her, I myself would pick the therapist and then bring her into the situation. Yeah, yeah. Because I think there's a lot of, like, blaming yourself going on that, like, she would only do this violence to me. she wouldn't do it to other people.
Starting point is 00:12:35 And, like, she would never do it to my daughter. Unfortunately, your daughter is, like, not that special. Like, she will not be exempt from that the same way that, like, you weren't targeted just because it's you. Like, it's, you didn't deserve it. There's nothing of that of, like, oh, she would only ever treat me this way. But, like, even on, like, a much smaller scale, I don't think it's healthy for people to, like, I think there are certain things that, like, if your parent,
Starting point is 00:13:03 was not there for you, but wants to be there as a grandparent and, like, they can show up in that way. I think that, like, that is a very small scale of what that not showing up for you was. Like, I think, like, if you can be a bigger person and, like, I know someone in my own life who, like, incredibly big person for this, but, like, did not have a present family member. And when they had kids were made it abundantly, like, it was. was no option that they were going to, they were going to show up for their kids. They didn't show it for them as when they were a parent, but they're going to show up for their kids. This person buys plane tickets. They schedule all of this kind of stuff because they know that if it was
Starting point is 00:13:44 left to the other person's devices, that relationship would not be fostered in that way. But there's not violence there. And there's not something there where like there's a difference between someone who was not present, neglectful, and like self-involved versus like someone who's like malicious and evil and like has like hatred in their heart that like has to come out in some way. But I at the same time, I also think that like it does not benefit kids to be around their grandparents who hate their fucking parents. Like even just take away the violence, take away any of that, just like a parent who is like never thought their child was enough.
Starting point is 00:14:25 And then they have a grandkid and they're like, oh, I really want to be there and show up for the grandkid. That dynamic between that parent and kid is still. there and that is not, that's not wonderful for a kid. That's not wonderful for a kid to see at all. And I say that as someone who like really fucking hated her grandma. Because like my grandma, like, she was a, she was a bitch. She was a bitch to like everybody and this idea that like as a kid, I wasn't going to be like subjected to that same stuff. Like is just vehemently like not true. So like seeing how she treated other people and like there might have been a time frame that
Starting point is 00:15:00 she, like, didn't also say crazy fucked up shit to me. But, like, by the time I could form memories, that was the only knowledge and memories I had of this woman. And so, like, I just can't stress enough that, like, I haven't missed out on life because I didn't, like, love my grandma, like, that specific grandma. Like, I had a wonderful godfather who is not blood related to me, who, like, I love, like, so much. Like, when you talk about having your found family, as somebody who the people who I look back on in my life that I like have the most fondness to even from a child are not the people who are blood related to me. So like if you can foster those relationships for your kid, your kid is so much better off and so are you because you don't need to make the
Starting point is 00:15:41 sacrifice because the only person it's hurting it repeatedly is going to be you and your kid. And you deserve so much fucking better than that. Also on fucking Christmas. I hope you got a couple back in just being totally honest. All right. Thank you for writing in. And when you're ready, give us an update. Yeah. We are back. How you feeling? I'm at, I'd say, 85% now.
Starting point is 00:16:18 Great. That's an improvement. It's very much an improvement. I've been able to, so like, I have an air humidifier and then a purifier. And the purifier itself cleans out the air, but it makes it very much. very dry. So I can't have it on. I haven't been able to have it on because then it just makes my coughing worse. But I've been able to put it on a little bit. So that shows an improvement right there. And my back was in so much pain because, you know, I usually get weekly massages. I had to go get one on Monday because it was at the point where I had to lay on the floor for a little bit. And, you know, I kept a cough drop in my mouth that I didn't cough. It was a two-hour
Starting point is 00:17:01 appointment. I didn't cough the whole time. Oh, that's a massive accomplishment. Because when you're laying flat, no elevation, it's just there. Yeah. It's bubbling the whole time. Yeah. Wow. And isn't it crazy? Like, you forget that like coughing, most people think of coughing as just like, oh, a singular cough. But when you have been like having fits of coughing, the first time that you can go a stretch without coughing, you're like, oh, actually coughing's kind of the worst thing in the world. Right. I've been sleeping through the night, which is also very... Hell yeah. I'm not waking up coughing. Like, it's just, kind of like stuff is moving around after I eat. That's good.
Starting point is 00:17:36 Yeah. So you can time it, plan it, and get the, hack that rest of that shit right the fuck up. So I'm very close, very close. I feel like next week I might be able to like get on my exercise bike. Oh, okay. Huh. My neighbor was telling me that her whole family got like ridiculously sick with something similar for like weeks and weeks and weeks.
Starting point is 00:17:58 over the summer, tested negative for COVID, RSV, the flu, all that kind of stuff. And I was like, oh, I wonder if it's the same. Yeah. That same bug. There's just been like long summer bugs that people have been stuck with, which is not fun. Yeah. But I'm feeling better. I guess we're on Monday besides getting a massage.
Starting point is 00:18:18 What? I went to the premiere of Practical Magic 2. What the fuck? With your cousin. Mm-hmm. Oh, my God. Wait, that is so fun. Did you watch the movie?
Starting point is 00:18:31 I did watch the movie. Yeah, we didn't even bother with the red carpet because we've gone to a lot of premieres and the red carpet is so long. It takes so much. You have to get there like four. Yeah. And the movie doesn't start to 7.30.
Starting point is 00:18:44 So what we did was we just went, we went and got some food. We walked around a little bit and got some dessert and then just walked into the movie. See, I have to say, For any time you've ever seen me at a red carpet, I've never seen the movie. There are other times I've been to premieres where I didn't do the carpet and then I'm just going to the movie. Because it's too long.
Starting point is 00:19:06 It's way too motherfucking long. They're like, get here at 3.30 and the movie will start at 8. Right. No. And we're outside. I'm okay. I'm actually very okay. It's too motherfucking hot.
Starting point is 00:19:17 Yeah. Did you like the movie? It was so funny. Oh, I'm so excited. Because the first one, it had its comedic moments, but it wasn't flip. Well, no, because also nobody prepared us for what the fuck that movie was about to be about. So I feel like I'd be more prepared this time. This is like laugh out loud funny.
Starting point is 00:19:34 I think because like Sandra Bullock is more of a comedic actor now. She wasn't really known for comedy yet. So I feel like they put a lot of that in there. And I've been watching a lot of their pressers. Me too. Those two are horny for each other. The way that I just like kiss. They're playing sisters.
Starting point is 00:19:54 Can we like? Scissor sisters. Let's tone it down a little bit. It's time for you to kiss. And you can feel it in the movie, too. You could feel it in person. You could feel in the first movie. You could feel in the first movie.
Starting point is 00:20:04 Wow. I mean, I watched those interviews of them, and I'm like, you guys know it's, you can get married now. Like you, and they both of you, I think they're both publicly single. And I'm like, girls, the stars have aligned, the timing is right. Like, Nicole Kidman's done a lot of free. movies like very freaking movies sexually freaky movies but the way I you know like acting apart but I should have known ice white shut which is when her and Tom Cruise were married and that's just like them being in an orgy the whole time I should know but like this woman is just a freak
Starting point is 00:20:47 like she's total she's freaked out. Have you ever watched her on Matt and Bowen's podcast? No. she is so fucking funny and I feel like that was the realization that a lot of people came to after this They were like, oh my God, like, she's just a freak. Like, she's a freaky little freak freak freak. And like in the most like loving, adoring kind of way ever. But like she keeps like putting on these voices. And she's like not even telling them that she's doing a bit. And everybody's like, oh, she's always doing a motherfucking bit.
Starting point is 00:21:17 And I was like, oh, that's funny. Oh, I can't wait to see it. See, if I was Joey King or, um, Maisie Williams, I would be trying to parent trap them to get them together. I go, well, you're both single now. Hello. Oh. Yeah. Wow.
Starting point is 00:21:31 And it also, because when it was announced, I was like, why isn't who played the daughter? Yeah, Evan Rachel Wood in it. But it makes sense for the story why they need them to be younger. I won't ruin it because I'm sure we'll probably talk about it on the podcast. Yeah. But they need to be younger for the story to make sense. And Evan Rachel Wood is 38, I think. Well, that's the unfortunate thing that, like, when you cast movies with women who are
Starting point is 00:21:59 supposed to have kids and you make those women very young to have kids, the roles, the characters, aren't they, because aren't they supposed to, well, there's little witches. They're like lasting, living forever or whatever. Yeah, but like, they're, Sandra Bulk and, like, Sandra Bulk is, there's their kids. She's 62, so she would have, she could very much have a 38-year-old daughter. But isn't in the movie? Like, how old are they supposed to be? Are they supposed to be in their 20s in the first one? I don't think so. Oh, okay. Because I was just thinking about how much time is supposed to have lapsed between these two movies. I just think that they just were like, it doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:22:35 Like the time elaps doesn't matter because she's, I was like maybe it'll be like a little bit in the past. No, because she's using a brand new iPhone. So it's not. I was my next question. Yeah, they're just like time is irrelevant. Okay. Well, they're witches.
Starting point is 00:22:51 So time is in fact irrelevant. That makes sense. I'm really excited to see it. It comes out. the 12th, I think. Sick. Sick. And I have to make Maud's watch.
Starting point is 00:23:03 He never finished. He fell asleep when we were watching it. So he fell asleep before the whole like exorcism. He fell as well as he before I got like really fucking weird. And so I was like, we're going to have to rewatch this. So you can prepare yourself for whatever the second one may bring. Yeah. Because I will want to see that in theaters.
Starting point is 00:23:20 But that's how fun. Uh-huh. What theater was it at? The one in Westwood. Yeah. There's never any good theaters for, for, premieres. Like, there's not one that I was like, oh, I'd prefer that. I'd rather be there in Hollywood. Me too, but it's like, I'm not, it's not my ideal place in general because, like, there's
Starting point is 00:23:36 nowhere to park and, like, it's so far away and flat. Good call. Good call. And it's not far for me. Like, it was 10 minute Uber at 5.30. Westwood is a lot, it's a lot closer. Like, being where I am, I can get anywhere in, like, 10 to 15 minutes. It's true. It's true. It's a good, it's a good spot to be. Yeah. Well, my weekend. And my weekend was I flew to Colorado on Thursday. Mm-hmm. I was tracking you because I told you to text me when you got there and you didn't. I thought about that.
Starting point is 00:24:09 I was just checking in. I was checking in with you. So I thought about it. I was like, oh, shit, I have to text her. And then I was like, my phone was running on low. And I was like, she's got my location. She's fine. She's already checking in on me.
Starting point is 00:24:20 Because I'm thinking about checking in with you later than I should have been. So I'm like, she's already looked at where I am. It's going to be fine. Mm-hmm. While you were driving, I was like, okay, she's at the holiday inn now. Mons was so stressed out because he, like, kept calling me. They'd be like, hey, like, what's up? And I was like, I'm not going to miss my fucking flight.
Starting point is 00:24:39 But like, this man is so anal about- What was the last time you flew by yourself? Last year, year before last. Where did you know? I flew to San Francisco when Mons was working in the area. But you almost, didn't you almost miss it then? Yeah, but. Yes.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Yes, you did. So this is, so what he was. No, but it's more so. that like, yes, okay, in any normal person, like, you would allow to, you would be allowed to be concerned about, like, me missing my flight. But, like, Mott's is so motherfucking anal about time. And I found this TikTok that I showed him a couple months ago, that it was like this guy who was like, what do you mean that other people can't look inside my mind and know that this very definitive rigid timeline that I've created? I'm adhering everyone to, but I haven't told anyone.
Starting point is 00:25:19 That's me too. No, but you'll tell me to, like, be like, okay, be here like 20 minutes before, like, you'll adjust that. He does not. And like, it drives. me crazy, but it also, the funniest part, it also drives his fucking parents crazy because, like, he will be standing in the doorway and we'll all just be sitting down, like, so did you want to do, because he'll be like at the latest, let's leave. If he, he would say something like, at the latest, let's leave at 5.30. This man prefers to leave at 4.45. But when you say at the latest, let's leave at 530, everyone's like, leave it like 520. He doesn't want to leave at 520. He wants to leave at 445. No, you got to, he needs to put fake times in. I know. And that's what I'm like, so
Starting point is 00:25:56 you're saying like you're going to get stressed 30 minutes before that time frame and then we're all just like okay do you what's going on and then he'll just like stand in a doorway quietly and i'm like do you have something to say no it's not and it just pisses everybody the fuck off and so he kept a face time and i answered the phone after like the third time i said oh my god i'm not going to miss my fucking flight and his mom's in the background and like i told you to stop going her and i was like you're being insane but he was like no no i'm just you know and like he was gone for a while so he was also like excited to see me, but I made it to the airport plenty of motherfucking time. I was spinning pokey stops, left, right, and center. I was, I was catching Pokemon out in the wild. But do you want to hear the, so I got, at one of the kiosks, formerly known as Kzoics, at one of the kiosks, I needed, like, I've been having this feeling when I go on flights that I am dying, not in like an anxiety way, but in a, and this is what I've realized, it's my blood pressure dropping. So like I get so nauseous. I get so sweaty. I feel like I'm about to throw up, but I also like can't speak. It feels like something sitting on me. It feels like my body is like failing. I talked to my
Starting point is 00:27:06 doctor about it. She goes, yeah, that's your your blood pressure dropping. You need to take your meds that higher, that raise your blood pressure closer to before the flight. So like don't think about it in like terms of your regular day dosing. You have to do something for that to increase it. And so a part of that is also having something with like bubbles in it. And oftentimes, sometimes, something with caffeine. And so I was like, okay, let me get a Diet Coke. And so far the last two flights, this has worked. And so I was like, okay, and this was the second flight. So I was like, I think this will help. So I go to one of those kiosks and I get a Diet Coke. And it is $6.20 for a singular bottle of Diet Coke. But then I hand my card to pay. And they go, okay, it's just going to
Starting point is 00:27:52 ask you something on the screen. And I almost said, no, it's fucking not. Because I know what that means and you're telling me it's going to ask you something on the screen. There is no option for no tip. It is just you can, it's 20%, 25%, 30%, and then the last little fourth option is right your own tip. So no option. So I'm sure that like for the what they were trying to do is like, okay, no tip would have been in the write your own tip zero dollars. But I'm like, this is so uncomfortable if it gives me like an error message and then they can hear this. And I was like, I don't. And I'm just like, I don't know what to do. And so I was just like, okay, I'll put a fucking dollar in because it's the
Starting point is 00:28:29 the lowest thing I can write that's like quick, quickest. And so I paid like $7.30 for a fucking soda. And I was like, that should be illegal. Like you should not have that. The tipping culture is wild. At my massage, just as I went to a Thai massage instead of where I go to the Russians because I needed them to pop his back in place. and they had it the same thing
Starting point is 00:28:57 and they had it 30%, 40% or 50%. A tip should start at 15. I'm always tipping like 20 is my base and then 25 is great. That is what tipping culture is. Where did this 30, 40, and 50% come from? Who was tipping 50%?
Starting point is 00:29:15 Well, also imagine accidentally tapping that and then the embarrassment of being like, sorry, can you like go backward? Because it's not necessarily the cheapest service in the world. It's not like, oh, it went from $7 to $14. Right. That's like, you're doubling something that's also a luxury that's like some people aren't paying for it all the time. So it's just so odd to me. Like I feel like it there needs to be like legally you need to have an option that just like on the front page says no tip. And I say this
Starting point is 00:29:43 as someone who like got shitty fucking tips when I worked it food service. Like it sucked at TCBY, the country's best yogurt yogurt. Like it fucking sucks. I got like really shitty tips and it it wasn't fun. Like it was not great. But like at the same time, I know it's like, and I feel bad for these people because like this person, I'm sure they're like, I really don't give a shit, but like they can't say that. And so I'm the one though grabbing the soda and like bringing it up there. There is. And like I just think that like there are some people who will tip a lot. But if you have just the automatic assumption that like you have to opt in for the tip. It makes people bitter. And like, I don't want to be bitter about tipping service workers. Like,
Starting point is 00:30:25 I like, I like giving people tips. But like, when it's something like that, I'm like, well, I don't want to feel bitter about this. I just don't think that this should be something that, like, I have to opt out of and possibly embarrass myself and say that it's like $0.00 and $0.00. And then I'm about to walk over to my gate, which is five feet fucking away and sit right down staring this person in their face. So I'm like, sure, $7.30 for a soda. So fucking. So, fucking. stupid. But yeah, so then we were there for, I think, in Denver for like 20 hours. And then we hit the road. And I wasn't expecting you being back so soon. Yeah, I mean, Mott's was there for like 10 days or something. No, I mean, like you were back on Saturday. Oh, yeah, that was not
Starting point is 00:31:11 a great choice that we made. Yeah, I was like, I thought they weren't getting back till Sunday. Yeah, me too. But Mott's was like he really wanted to have like a day at home. I mean, he did say we're actually never doing that again. That was like not what I thought it was going to be. But we did have to deal with, which is not something you usually have to deal with there, like thunderstorms and like rain. And so thankfully we ended up leaving a little bit, well, that's on the second day. But like we left a little bit later on the first day.
Starting point is 00:31:43 We have to like three or something. And it was good because like we like waded out some of the rain and the storms. And we made it to our first stop. which was Grand Junction, spent the night there, woke up the morning. And I slept like the motherfucking dead. Like, you know, hotel sleep, blackout curtains. Yeah, I love hotel sleep. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:32:05 I was like, fuck yes. And I was why I hadn't slept well. I was sleeping good for the first couple days he was gone. But then after a while I was like, I'm not sleeping as well. So I was like knocked the buck out. And it was lovely. And then I wake up of what I can only assume, it's like waking up a corpse to my that's handing me, handing me a cup of coffee that he has gotten to get me and saying,
Starting point is 00:32:27 we have a flat tire. He got to get me. Whatever. He got me a cup of coffee. And then he says, here's your coffee. We have a flat tire. And I said, what? And he goes, yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:39 And right when we got in, like probably five minutes before we had pulled in to this hotel, it was like a thing. And so, again, this is his brand new car. Just got the new car. And it was like, oh, okay. maybe he we went over a speed bump in the calibration of it. We didn't listen last week. Megan or Mott's got a new car.
Starting point is 00:32:59 He went home. She flew out to help him drive the car back to LA. Yeah. So it's a brand new car. And, you know, like it could be a calibration thing could be off. And like, to be fair, the last time that we did, we drove to the wedding the weekend before in my car. Same thing happened. And we checked it.
Starting point is 00:33:17 And it was like, oh, it's fine. But sometimes after like, like, long car rides, especially like lots of turns, the calibration of it. And you can add a little more air. But like, nothing's wrong. Once the air is in there, it needs to rotate a bit for it to get going. And it's a brand new car. It's been sitting on a lot probably for like a year.
Starting point is 00:33:36 Yeah. So like it hasn't really been driven yet. Yeah. And so we were like, oh, okay. And so then we had pulled into the hotel when we got there. We checked everything. And it was like, okay, there's no holes. There's nothing in the tires.
Starting point is 00:33:46 We're totally fine. And so then in the morning, he's like tire comically flat. He was like, it looks like a cartoon. And there was a lady behind him as he was. She walked down and she goes, oh, no, that's not good. And he was like, yeah. And so he had walked to get coffee, then came back and told me. And then we had to find a, he called AAA, the guy from AAA, first day, first day on the job.
Starting point is 00:34:10 And Mons was like, okay, so do you have like a pump that I can pump it up with? And he goes, my pump's not really working. And he goes, okay. So I did in fact put in the service of grass. for AAA that I have a flat tire. So could we do that? And he goes, I really, you know, it's, I don't think this one's going to work. And he was, Mots had already went, he has a pump in the car too.
Starting point is 00:34:32 And so he was like, well, I wanted to use yours. They're like, why don't you use yours first? And he goes, okay. So the AAA guy watches Mots pump air back into the tires. Why is he there? I have no fucking idea. If I was Mots, I would just lie and said, I'd already chart this. Like, it true.
Starting point is 00:34:50 And then he goes, okay, and he's like, I told you, mine's like, it's, I need the more heavy-duty one. Like, I just, something. Like, and even just like the quick little patch, I just need to drive this to the mechanic to get a replacement. Like, or just like, help me if I, like, bring a spare, whatever. And he's like, oh, I don't have, I don't have any, like, universal spares. And Mons is like, okay, what do you? Why are you here? Why are you here?
Starting point is 00:35:13 And so then Mott uses his pump. And guess what? It does, in fact, work to get just another air in the tire for Mots to get to the, the, mechanic and the AAA guy's like, wow, it was crazy. Can't believe that worked. And then goes, hey, man, please make sure to give me five stars. And Mott says, just immediately. You didn't do anything.
Starting point is 00:35:30 Did he have to pay for this? This is not off the issue. I don't know. Yeah, but do you get like, don't you like five? Yeah. He should be, I'm sure he should say something. But he immediately turned to him and he goes, you have to be kidding me. And he was like, what?
Starting point is 00:35:42 He goes, for what? Like, I just did all of this and you just watched me do this. And Mott's like, and then it's just like, I'm just having some kid watched me do all this, being like, I could have embarrassed myself in private trying to do all this stuff. Like, why are you here? And so he made it to the mechanic. And then it took hours, hours to get it because it was so backed up. And then they started like taking people who are like, oh, you know, this one's a really good patron of our business, blah, blah. And Mott and I were like, well, if that's the way that the line is working of like who goes first, we are in fact fucked because
Starting point is 00:36:17 we don't live here and like we're actually just trying to get out of here. And then it took like, I think it probably took like three hours, three or four hours. We couldn't, we were supposed to leave at like 7.30 or eight and we didn't leave until like noon. And they, they like kept accidentally taking people in front of Mots and then the guy who like Mons had checked in with like realizes this. And he was like, oh, so sorry. Okay. And then they did it. And then they felt so bad. They didn't charge him for it. And I was like, well, that's an, like that's a bad. But they, found like a six inch massive nail in in the tire, but it had adhered like so perfectly that it blended in. So like we couldn't even see it. And it took them a while to find it. But it was it was a
Starting point is 00:37:01 thick enough nail too. And apparently it's a roofing nail. So it's like a it's a wide ass nail. And that's what kept it like in place for so long because it's just like it's sturdy. And so we tried to like retrace our steps. And we realized that we had driven. There was a a construction site next to one of the rest stops we went to. But that was like probably two or three hours into the drive. Like, or no, probably like two hours into the drive. So it like drove for like three hours with that in there. So we're like really lucky that it didn't pop or like it didn't really affect it until we got there.
Starting point is 00:37:38 I've been in the car where my tire popped off. And that was one of the scariest moments in my life. Oh, that's terrifying. terrifying. So then our day two, we did drive 11 hours in one day. And then Monsu's like, I actually can't ever do that again. My body hurts. And I was like, yeah, my body hurts too. But I did introduce him to the Millennial Hope Corps, which he didn't know about. And so I showed him the Millennial Hope Corps playlist, and that really helped fuel him. What did you show him? Have you heard of millennial hope core just as a concept? Yes, I'm familiar with it, but I just want to know what
Starting point is 00:38:15 So, like, the youths, for anyone who doesn't know, the youths are, like, tattooing mustaches on their fingers again. Like, they're, like, bringing back, like, peplum tops and, like, corporate at the clubs, even though there's no clubs for them to go to. And they're like, God, I wish I could have lived in this time period. And I'm like, you know what? You're not wrong. It was a great time. It was a really fucking great time. And so I told him, I was like, oh, no, I was like, I think you're really going to like this.
Starting point is 00:38:40 And so I just typed in Spotify, Millennial Hope Corps. and it is a collection of all and he was like, oh my God, this is, we listened to it for 11 and a half hours. Actually, that was how long we were straight driving even between rest stops, like 11 and a half hours straight. He was just, he loved it. And so for anyone who wants to know,
Starting point is 00:39:00 it's got a lot of Phoenix Passion Pit, MGMT, Janelle Monet, two-door cinema club, group love, Capitol Cities, Matt and Kim. Like, it's very much like you're at a festival. Other than, Janelle Monet, or these white people, because I've never heard of most of the things you just said. I love MGMT.
Starting point is 00:39:20 But other than that, you'll just recognize those people. You'll just recognize the music. Like, I couldn't name who sang 90% of these songs, but these are what, it's like at the cafes that are like, have like a bright pink like wall in the background to be like, oh, if there's a photo up here or whatever, it's like, I don't want to call it like Target music, but it's like music from like commercials in that kind of. It's an Apple commercial music. Yes, exactly.
Starting point is 00:39:49 It's exactly that or like boutique music where you're like, it's all of those things. So like I couldn't tell you a singular, like, if you told me who sings these songs, I'd be like, oh, okay, for sure. If you asked me to name another song by there, no clue. Like it's like they're all just these individual songs that popped up and you would recognize the songs.
Starting point is 00:40:08 But like, because that's the whole point. It's like it's not bands or like they're not, Taylor Swift. Like it's not P, it's not Beyonce. It's not people that you know that are like staples. It's literally just like this genre of music of all the songs kind of sound the same. They all give you the same sort of like feeling, but you're like, it's going to be like girl who's going to be okay. Like it's going to be all right. It's very much like Zoe de Chanel movie soundtrack, like the last song, credit, like scenes. Yeah. So if you don't know about MGMT, like I really, really like their music. And then I found out that it was like,
Starting point is 00:40:42 an embarrassment to like their music. No, it's millennial hook war. Because they were, they had like an actual like real band and then they're like, we're just going to start writing as a joke. We're just going to start writing music that we know will be hits, like generic pop music. And that's what they did and release their music. And like it's just a joke, but I really like their music. Sorry, it hits.
Starting point is 00:41:05 Like, it really fucking hits. Like, shoot it straight into me. Like, I, there's something about it. And, like, that's the feeling that all of these songs give. And, like, if you ask me who's, who sang all of these, I probably would have guessed MGMT sings every song on this playlist. Like, that's the vibe of it. Like, it's very Coachella, like, 2014.
Starting point is 00:41:23 Mm-hmm. The Ting Ting's on there? Of course. Of course. I love them, too. And so, like, it was just, like, so, and there's so many different ones that are, like, so many different playlists of it. So, like, if anyone just wants...
Starting point is 00:41:37 Because I would say that my current favorite still while driving my car is Robin Radio, because fun fact, Robin's never made a bad song. Like every time you hear a song, you go, this is her best song and you actually it's not. Like she is, she's everything to me. Like she makes incredible music. And then this is like a close second because like at no point are you feeling tired. Are you feeling downtrodden? Like you are constantly, it just makes you constantly feel like it's going to be okay.
Starting point is 00:42:01 Like everything's going to be okay. And I was like, this is so funny because the people who are popularizing this millennial hope court are not millennials. They are the youth that they're Jet Alpha who long for Jeffrey Campbell Lita Boots. They long for the prime era of American O'Herald before we found out that they're all predators. They long for cronuts. They long for- I long for cronuts every single day. Peak of yogurt land.
Starting point is 00:42:29 I do have a cronut probably once a month. I love a cron. There are two of my favorite things, a donut and a croissant. Like, I have to say anyone is missing, like, longing for millennial hope court. You should just know that, like, L.A. is not what it used to be. But I do think that we have, like, fought tooth and nail to, like, hang on to some of those things. Like, people were like, oh, my God. Like, I miss, like, just, like, going to get a cupcake or a crona or, like, frozen yogurt.
Starting point is 00:42:57 I go, we have all those things still. Right. We still have all those. And they're still thriving. Cupcake place right down the street for me. I go get a, I'll get a cronet up. from, it's not like the official cronuts. But when I was in Vegas, I did get one of the official cronuts and I was like, it's good.
Starting point is 00:43:15 I've had better. Yeah. But, yeah, I'll go to, I'll go to, Randy's has delicious. They call it a crondy because it's like Randy. But yeah, delicious. So good. So good. So good.
Starting point is 00:43:28 And then if I want a more sophisticated one, I'll get one from the Paris Bakery. Also delicious. It has a little cream in it. Sometimes I don't want the cream. God, I could go for one of those. I did have ice cream when I was in Denver, and they make it old school dairy-free with, like, coconut, which I prefer because everyone else is making it with oat milk,
Starting point is 00:43:47 which I'm like, now you've made me have another issue. Now this isn't a dairy issue. This is a gluten issue. But it took us so fucking long. And we ended up, though, thank God. Funny enough, what did save us from, the flat tire saved us from the level of storm that had happened right before, but also was happening right after.
Starting point is 00:44:13 Like, we were, it was like twisters and we were chasing a future storm and there was a storm coming, that we were running away from. Like, it was like the storm in front of us, we're going fast enough that like, we're not going so fast that we're not catching up to it, but we're going fast enough to like not get the one behind us. I have never in my life seen a sky so dark at like 2 p.m. It was like it looks like midnight behind us. Like it was just this dark cloud. And all we were getting was flash flood warnings and like videos of people like a man like stuck on top of their cars and like get to higher ground. And I was like, oh, so if we had left earlier, we would have been stuck in that. And if we had left later,
Starting point is 00:44:52 we would have been stuck in it too. So burnt toast theory. So I was like, okay, this will be fine. And also I did nothing. I just like, like, sat in bed watching Spider-Man edits while he, like, went to the mechanic and, like, fixed everything. Incredible. Love that. And I was like, well, yeah. And then tomorrow, everyone, cross your fingers, wish me luck. I'm getting my
Starting point is 00:45:11 transvaginal ultrasound, but this time is the one where they will be controlling me like a joystick to try and pry my ovaries off of whatever they think they're attached to. And I am never nervous for these appointments, like, because I've done them before.
Starting point is 00:45:27 Once you've done one, you've done them all, or so, I thought. This, I'm a little... Is not going with you? Yeah, he's taking me. Okay. I'll say I'll take you if he's not going to. The way that they talk about it and they're like, we're going to have... And they do that kind of like side look of being like, we're going to have to.
Starting point is 00:45:41 I go, oh, God. Because they always underestimate how things are. You might feel a little pinch. Yep. No, it's a big stab. Like, they always, like, say things. So, like, if they're like, oh, you know, it might be... Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:45:58 It's kind of, you know. And I'm just concerned about how long it's going to, because they're like, you know, it might take a while. But I have to do it with a full bladder. Like, I have to drink 32 ounces of water an hour before. And I'm like. And then they're moving around in there. And they're not sure. I know.
Starting point is 00:46:14 And I'm like, if they're like, I'm not sure how long it's going to take. And I'm like, I feel like I'm going to have to give you a time limit because like I'm going to have to piss. Yeah. And you pee for a long time. Wait, I also meant to tell you at the same rest stop where we turns out, We got the nail in the car. I was peeing for an incredibly long time. And it was a absolutely like gorgeous rest stop. The bathroom, disgusting. Like I was like, you've redone everything in here. We also stopped at one in Vegas that had slot machines that I had to like walk around to try and find the bathroom. Yeah. But I was peeing for so long and I was like, oh my God, I honestly should like text Melissa and be like, you have no idea. I'm peeing the longest pee ever.
Starting point is 00:46:55 When in reality, who I should have been thinking to text was Mons, because as I'm finally walking back to the. car, I see him outside of the car with a panicked look on his face saying, I thought you got kidnapped. I was about to have somebody go into that fucking stall. And I was like, oh, I wondered if it was extra long. I was texting, I was going to text Melissa because I pee for so long. He goes, you peeved that a whole time? And I was like, yeah, yeah. He went from kidnapped. Like, you, maybe you just had an upset stomach too. Like, he just went immediately to kidnap you because upset stomach is where, I mean, for you, that could be. That's the most logical route for me. because he was like, you didn't text me.
Starting point is 00:47:32 And, like, I would have assumed if it was something like, oh, sorry, I'm just peeing for a long time. Don't worry. Like, you would have texted me or, like, my stomach hurt something. And I was like, there was no service. I'm so sorry. I was like, just imagine. I was bored. I had no service on my phone that whole time I was peeing.
Starting point is 00:47:45 But he was like, it was like, it was like seven minutes straight of pain. So I was like, oh, that's, that is a new record. But that's what I'm thinking about with this. And I'm like, you're going to be joysticking me around with a full bladder and take my, I have to drink that an hour before. I'm going to be miserable and then they're like not sure how long it's going to take. I'm giving you 45 seconds and then I'm going to piss for an hour straight. Like, what? And I'm not looking forward to that, but I'm so glad Monsor's driving me because I'm already going to be uncomfortable at the beginning.
Starting point is 00:48:15 And I have to time my meds because my meds also make me have to pee. So we'll see. But everyone cross your fingers that I don't piss on a poor ultrasound deck. Like, that's my biggest fear. Yeah. Well, best to look. And also, like, I'll tell everyone, don't remember everyone, I will report back to what it feels like when they probe your ovaries. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:36 Because I had mine. I had my, but they weren't moving anything around. Yeah. Mine was just like, it's in there. And then she was, she was moving it, like, to get to, like, I need to see the left side. I need to see the right side. But it wasn't so that they were prying something apart. And that's one that I'm like, you can feel the sensation when they're,
Starting point is 00:48:57 they're like turning the different direction. But like I don't know the sensation when you're hitting an organ. And like the fact that like no, not only are we going to hang in an organ, we're going to be trying to like separate aspects of an organ. And I'm like, oh my God. Okay. So I will let everyone know what that feels like. Maybe they're part of me I'm like, I don't want them to be attached because that's bad. But if they're attached and like it's so clearly they're attached, maybe they'll be like, okay, go pee. You're fine. Like they're very stuck or they're very not stuck. And then they're like, Because I've been able to see up in there. Yeah, so we'll see. I hope it doesn't take a while. And I really hope it's a woman. And you better text me this time. I will. I will.
Starting point is 00:49:38 I will. Oh, my gosh. All right, let's give some more advice. I have been struggling with infertility for over a year. I have been happily married for two years. And I feel so hopeless when everyone around me is pregnant without even trying. I have truly turned into a monster. How do I stop feeling so angry?
Starting point is 00:50:05 and upset with myself and others during this time where I'm struggling so badly. And this person is 25, she, her. Well, I mean, neither us, like, specifically, we're not actively trying to get pregnant right now. So it's kind of hard for us to relate to this or give advice because we usually try to give advice from personal experience.
Starting point is 00:50:32 I know this is difficult. I know people that have. have been through this or that everybody around them has been getting in the same way, like, getting pregnant and they're not. And they've been, like, specifically trying to get pregnant. I mean, we're not doctor, so I can't talk to you from a physical standpoint. Yeah. I'm assuming you're seeing a doctor. But I would, yeah, that's what I was going to say. I presume that you're seeing a doctor. I'm sorry, like mentally. That takes a very big toll on you, very much so.
Starting point is 00:51:02 And I'm sure that, like, I would ask, I would ask. would see if there's any. And you can ask your doctor or just like look online, but I could understand that it feels even more isolating dealing with this quite young, that there's like a lot of people talking about dealing with struggling to conceive and stages of struggling to conceive tend to be overwhelmingly. The topic you hear about more is people who are a little bit older. And that doesn't mean it doesn't happen to people of like all ages for all different reasons. but that it might be helpful for you to, like, see if there's any sort of, like, resources or people that you can talk to who, like, the same age group as you kind of
Starting point is 00:51:44 dealing with this. And then I would say that, like, I think that there are certain things that you should just point blank do indefinitely. And that is, like, block the words, baby, pregnancy, conception, all of those things on all of your social media accounts that you use. So you're not seeing them pop up. You're not seeing them pop up. You're not seeing. all those kinds of things. If you know someone in your personal life who is pregnant, like, mute them on social media. So you're not seeing any of these kinds of things because not having just like constantly be bombarded with that. And then for like your friends in your everyday life, like I would I would talk to them and like tell them. Like I've got friends who are not able to have
Starting point is 00:52:29 kids. And that has been something that like that's the conclusion that they've come to because they don't want to put their body through any more of fertility stuff. And I've talked with them about like dealing with when they get invited to baby showers, when they get invited to certain things. And so then another one of our mutual friends when they had a baby, like they invited them separately, but we had known that this person was not able to have kids. And so they invited them separately. They didn't send the invite. And they were like, hey, I want you to, I want you to feel included and to come to this, zero pressure to come. It's totally, it's, it's very okay. And you do not have to worry about it. And then we've, I've heard stories from them of like people who
Starting point is 00:53:11 like are adamant that they come to things that they're for their baby and that they should just be happy to celebrate all of that kind of stuff. And like that to me is like not a real, not a real friend at all. Like I think if in general, if you're close enough to someone to invite them to something with your with your baby, that really, relationship should also be close enough that you have been able to have a conversation with them about this. And like, yeah, even if that means like having to take like some space from friends or people in your life who are at a different life stage, I would never feel offended by that or anything like that and like seeing a friend go through that and how much like it
Starting point is 00:53:53 has put pressure on different friendships of people who like cannot fathom. Like sometimes, and And I don't mean this to disparage it at all, but sometimes people treat having a baby like their wedding that like everyone needs to put everything else aside in their own lives and that they are the most special person in this moment right now. And so any sort of personal shit that you're going through any hangups that you have about like motherhood or you have about like trying to conceive need to be put to the wayside and you need to celebrate for this person because it will come back to you and you like that's not that's not true. Like you don't have to do that. It is not. other someone else's pregnancy is not more important than your like mental health by any means and any good friend would be able to tell you that. But I think like being angry is I think anger is like a really necessary emotion to like feel. And I think a lot of times like women are told like being angry is is is a default or is hormonal is emotional is also racially charged all of those kinds of things. And like you're allowed to be angry. Like you're allowed to be angry and like you're allowed to be angry and like you're allowed to be angry and like you're allowed to. be like if that means like you get a journal and you like write all of these negative thoughts and feelings that you have and just like push that out of you for that as opposed to just like thinking that you shouldn't be feeling any type of way about this because this is something you care about and this is something that you want and it doesn't feel fair because like it isn't fair life isn't fair and you're allowed to feel all of those feelings you don't have to be
Starting point is 00:55:23 feeling those things doesn't make you a bad person or make you like a bad friend or anything but I think like I do think that you would be a bad friend if you'd didn't tell your friends you were going through this because you're not letting them show up for you in that way. And like that to me would tell me as a friend that I was not doing enough. I wasn't a good friend because you weren't feeling comfortable telling me any of that kind of stuff. So yeah, I think it's it's tough, but it's also like so so incredibly common, even with people your age. Yeah. All right. And if any of our listeners are going through or have been through the same thing, please write in and share your thoughts as well.
Starting point is 00:56:01 Have you gotten into the NFL scammer? Yeah, I'm obsessed. I think it's so fun. I thought it was fun until he texted a 17-year-old and asked her when she was going to be 18 and he was lying saying he was 21 when he's 35. Oh. So it was fun until then.
Starting point is 00:56:31 Well, I thought it was fun until I found out that he was arrested for fraud because people were giving him money. And then I don't like it when I'm disappointed in my girls. Like I don't, I'm like, girls, we're better than this. We can Google. And I don't like how many have come forward. I don't like that either.
Starting point is 00:56:48 I don't like that they're okay with knowing. The ones that came forward that were like, I never gave him any money, like you're stupid. The ones that have text message records of them showing, like, you're not an NFL player. And he's like, you just don't know how it works. And she's like, actually I do. I was an athlete too. And then he was like, okay, tell me how it works it. And I was like, oh, he's just taking notes so that he can get over.
Starting point is 00:57:12 You're consulting for free. Those are fine. But then, like, you're giving money and now you're showing your face that you gave money. Like, what are you going to get out of this? No, it just makes me be like, we're better than this. Like, you got got, but at least get got anonymously. Right. Please, please.
Starting point is 00:57:31 Don't. But why are you sending somebody that claims to be a multimillionaire? money. I know. Not just a football player, but has a huge real estate portfolio. Somebody he told was a real, he told him that he was a international real estate agent. Yeah, he said he owned stock in a Gucci store in the mall. Like in Sacks. He said, I own a good, our family, my family has stocked the largest shareholders for Gucci on Sacks Fifth Avenue. Fifth Avenue is the street. Sats is the store.
Starting point is 00:58:08 That's the store. What? I was floored by that. Or when he was like proving, he goes, this is a black Amex and it was cardboard. And I was like, deep that the cards are metal. He's signing his contract sitting in an apartment complex lobby. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:58:27 So that was painful for me. But it was fun at first. I will say the 17-year-old was smarter than a lot of these other girls because she cut it off almost immediately. Yes. Well, he also doesn't look 21. No. His hairline is like...
Starting point is 00:58:41 What hairline? In Bermuda. Yeah. It's on the back of his neck. In the Bermuda triangle. It's in the nape of his fucking neck. He turns around, you squint, get closer. Ask him to turn to the side.
Starting point is 00:58:52 There's the hairline. That's why he always had on a helmet. Yeah, because... But he also was scamming for food. He was scamming a barber. Like, he was just scamming anybody that he could. I think he liked... He likes the scam.
Starting point is 00:59:07 He's so scrawny. Somebody also got him on camera. This was even before all this happened that he lied about being, he was like at a pickup basketball game and somebody was just recording and he's lying about being an international basketball player. And I was like, there are so many leagues overseas. That should have been the lie to stick with it. But I was that to say.
Starting point is 00:59:31 Because there's so many leagues. There's like big leagues and smaller leagues. Like saying that. That's more believable because you could say it's some language that nobody understands. Yeah, my name is translated. Yeah, you can't read it on the website. Makes more sense. Totally.
Starting point is 00:59:47 I just don't know why he thought that he was like, oh, I'm not tall enough for that scam. You're not big enough for the football one either. And that didn't stop you. And when he took his helmet off, at first I was like, oh, a teenager is scamming. And I took the helmet off and I said, oh, an old man with a very scrawny body is. is scamming. The teenager, he did, his cameraman, his friend, legit a teenager because he's 18 now, I think, 18 or 19 now.
Starting point is 01:00:16 So it means that he was a child when this initially started. That's his co-conspirator. Yeah, try him as a minor. I'm sure that he believed it for a bit too. Yeah. I'm sure. I'm sure. Because like, you'd be confused and you're like, well, why would anyone lie about this?
Starting point is 01:00:32 This is so, because that's the whole thing. I'm like, it's so obvious. Unless they sat down and came. came up with it themselves. That's true. But a 17-year-old, I don't know that they're going to. And he was younger than that because I think he's been running that scam since 2000 and 22.
Starting point is 01:00:46 And he's 18 now. It is a COVID scam. Like, that's something where it's like, you know, like, you wouldn't understand. Like, things are different now with COVID. He was 14. Oh, my God. Yeah. He didn't, he did not cook that up with him.
Starting point is 01:00:59 He was, he. And if he did, did not understand the repercussions of, of what that, or like, what it was going to end up becoming. But like, yeah, there's been a lot of this pop culture, like, he-he-ha-ha-ha to laugh at. But then simultaneously, the Graham Reaper has been grabbing every single wrong one. Yeah. And I'm just, I'm confused. I'm going to be in 92 years old.
Starting point is 01:01:27 Every time I, any of these people have died, I'm like, but they were so young. And Mott's was like, Mots was quiet. He goes, I thought she was already dead. Isn't she old? And I was like, she's elderly, but she's not that old. And then I looked it up and I was like, oh, she's old. Yeah, Dorothy Pittman Hughes, who died a few years ago, too, I think in 2022 as well. Or as well as when I'm talking about this scammer, the scam started.
Starting point is 01:01:55 But yeah. Yeah. Like, what? What? And like we still don't have proof of life of Mitch McConnell because he's dead. And like... That one, I just, I don't understand why it's still going on. I just don't understand how, like, I think that we, as progressive media, we need to start playing just as dirty as conservatives.
Starting point is 01:02:20 And I think we need to offer someone money that they can't refuse to break HIPAA and to never be allowed to work in health care ever again. And then we set them up with an offshore bank account and we help them disappear and give us the info. Right. Or even that what happened, there was somebody on TikTok that went to his house and then was in the backyard. It's a townhouse. It was in the backyard, the stuff directly behind. He's like, there's a storage, one of those portable storage units and then like the 1-800 jump, that type of thing. Like, they're getting rid of beds and stuff in there.
Starting point is 01:03:02 Yeah. And they took, and then that person haven't heard from them since. And they've also apparently had like government vehicles who just like been patrolling outside like the whole time. And I'm just like, come on guys. Like can't we pay people for information? Whatever happened to that? Whatever happened to good old bribery for information? I would like to know because the fact that we've moved on from it.
Starting point is 01:03:24 I was thinking about it yesterday. Now it's just like, where is he? Where the fuck is he? I know he's not alive, but like where is he? Where is his body? Are we getting him cremated? Because at this point, that feels like the only possibility because he's decomposing. Right.
Starting point is 01:03:44 Unless they stuffed him like a... Taxidermy, weekend at Bernie's. I'm worried that that's... Well, you know, they're doing as a trial run for the big guy once he goes and you figure out how to do it. Because there's also video of the Senate was on the floor for hours. people are coming in and out, in and out, in and out, in and out. And he's just sitting in his chair. So, I mean, like, he didn't move at all, at all from that chair.
Starting point is 01:04:15 He didn't have to use the bathroom. I think that's when he died, because then that's when he disappeared was after that. Well, you know, none of them have to use the bathroom in a way of moving because they're wearing diapers all the time. But, like, everybody else was, like, coming in. They've had lunch. come back. Like he's just there. Oh, he doesn't need any sustenance. Unmoving. Yeah, dead body. He literally
Starting point is 01:04:38 did not move the whole time. Oh yeah, he died there. Yeah. He died there. Good God. It's just and yeah, I can't believe it and I just, they say that it comes in threes. We're now at four. Tim Curry.
Starting point is 01:04:53 Yeah. I think we're at more though. Are we? Mm-hmm. Oh my God, yeah. The girl from zombies, this actress, she just passed two. I don't want to keep fucking waking up to like devastating news. It'd be like another one of America's favorite people die. It was 3 o'clock in the morning. And I was up when they announced it.
Starting point is 01:05:14 Ugh, fucking sucks. Yeah. And then I was like, now I have nobody to tell. And I don't want this to be the first text message that somebody reads in the morning. So I'll just go to sleep now. It is what I opened my phone too. And I was like, I literally said out loud, are you fucking kidding? And Mott's was like, yeah.
Starting point is 01:05:31 I saw, did think she was already dead. And I was like, okay, well. But yeah, I just, at this point, I'm like, I don't even know what else it's going to be. Because Betty White's already gone. Mm-hmm. I know. I've got, you know, I've got my top five. No, I can't think about that.
Starting point is 01:05:48 And three of my top five are gone. When I started looking up, like, because to me, Dolly Parton, I knew Dolly Parton was ill. But when I looked at, I'm like, well, I don't think Dolly Parton is older than all. all these other people. And I started looking up ages of some of my, some of my favorite elderly women. And I said, I'm actually going to have to stop this right now because some of these women have about a decade on her. And that's really stressing me out. Yeah. Like, people are mad that Julie Andrews isn't doing Princess Diaries too. And I'm like, that woman is 92 years old. I don't think that, I think she wants to be at home. Yes. I don't think she can send up.
Starting point is 01:06:31 to set. She can do a voiceover for Bridgeton. Yes. And I think they might have set things in place in case. I think that might be, I don't want to speak too much on it. But yeah. No, it's devastating. It's, it's devastating. But I, I just have to hold out hope that something's going to happen. Something else is going to happen. Because, like, we're not meant to just receive all of this. We're also meant to be and gifts. And I think we're owed. A big old present. There's been times when God has cleared out the world. Yeah. Because of evilness and had to get on an arc. And maybe that's what El Niño is. I have seen people make that joke. And I was like, uh-oh. Yikes. Because as someone who knows nothing about the Bible, I am familiar with Noah and his arc because that's in everything. And I'm like,
Starting point is 01:07:29 oh no oh no it might be too much i might have gone too far but well i mean hey do you see that they're now river otters attacking people like animals are going yeah like what yeah and then this girl was explaining it on tic-tok and then somebody was like and it was a black woman of course so she's getting extra hate and they're like why don't you go get a degree or something and then come back and tell us And then she pulls out her multiple degrees on the subject, on the subject matter. I have seen that. There's this lawyer that I follow on threads who, like, will talk about, like, current takes. And everybody's like, oh, where'd you go to law school?
Starting point is 01:08:11 And did you just post pictures of diploma? She goes, Harvard? What about you? And everyone's like, I'm upset. And it's all the time. Because, again, she's a black woman. And so everyone's like, well, what do you know about this? And she goes, a lot?
Starting point is 01:08:23 A lot. Like, this is my job. You're a nobody. Yeah, we're supposed to get rain this week. It's supposed to be a hurricane. I don't know that it's going to happen here. But Saturday or Sunday we're supposed to get rain, Wednesday and Thursday. Wow.
Starting point is 01:08:39 So we'll see. We'll see. But I just can't wait to, like, get on this podcast with, like, with, like, just like an extra. You could hear a smiling as you talk. You know? I've grown some more dimples. Like, yes. It'll be great.
Starting point is 01:08:55 It would just be so, so nice. Nice. Oh, last thing. I went to the library for the first time in L.A. I saw you did a big book hall. Uh-huh. I have one of my books right here that I'm reading. Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Read. It's about an astronaut and you know how I feel about space. So I'm excited to read that.
Starting point is 01:09:13 There's so many people who are like, oh, there's one of them. They're like, oh, you're either going to love this book or hate it. And that's kind of like, I wanted to like gauge where I am in like current popular authors and like things that are like style. Because like everyone's like, oh, if you like, do you like this person's books? I'm like, I don't know. And so I'm like, okay, let me pick the ones that are the most interesting to me of some of these authors, and we'll see. And I only picked it out. We only had 15 minutes in the library. So I only got from like H to Z and like still found some. You can't really read so much. Totally. But like I was surprised that they had this much here. Yeah. But I love a library. It was so cool. And I can't wait to keep going. I just I love the vibe of libraries. You got the newer Bridgeton book. That was written with Shonda. Yes. I got the Queen Charlotte one.
Starting point is 01:10:01 Yeah. Because someone recommended that. I don't read any of the other ones. Read the Queen Charlotte book. And I was like, yeah. Fuck yeah. I actually never thought about reading that one, even though I should. Because it was written within the last few years.
Starting point is 01:10:18 And it makes more sense to read that one. Because I know the other ones, I'll be like, and close. I'll get four pages in. And I'll be like, and never fucking minds. Like, no. But this, yeah, I forgot that they even made a book version of this one. And then someone recommended it being like, I know they're like, I see you repost Charlotte and George edits on TikTok all the time.
Starting point is 01:10:39 Oh, do you? Oh, I'm reposting them constantly. Like, that is like, I'm obsessed. Anytime one comes across my desk, I'm obsessed. Like, oh my God. I will tell you where the moon and the stars are. I, like, I'm like, I'm obsessed. I will stand between the heavens and the earth.
Starting point is 01:10:55 I love. And so they were like, you should. should read the book. And I was like, forgot that was an option, forgot they even made that. So I can't wait for that one. And I know I'm going to like that one. So I'm saving that one in case like I wanted like immediately be like, I'm fucking out on any of these other ones. But we'll see. Shout out to the libraries. I did post like, wow, you can get free books. And so it's like, oh my God, where is this? And I was like, this is the library diva. She was like, my bad. Couldn't tell. Because they don't have stickers on the bind that was like showing. And she's like, oops. But I just want to stress to everybody, like,
Starting point is 01:11:27 go to the library. Like, you can, beyond just, like, reading books, there's so many things you can do for free there. Libraries famously have fantastic air conditioning in most places. Like, they usually have really good water fountains. Like, they're just, like, things like, you need a little reprive from, like, the heat. You need a computer. You need to print something.
Starting point is 01:11:45 A lot of libraries offer, like, so many services. Yeah. And also, like, arts and crafts thing. Like, you want to learn how to soak. You want to, you know, just come, cut some stuff out and glue it to a piece of. of paper. Like, they got a lot of stuff going on at the library. Yeah. I looked at the classes at just like LA libraries as a whole. And the number one most offered class, I thought was really cool and popular. That was taught by like teenagers to other teenagers who's second language is English
Starting point is 01:12:17 for things that like made like for like social media stuff, for pop culture, like things that maybe your parents wouldn't know or other people like that. So it's like, peer-to-peer teaching that and then also kids teaching adults about how to spot AI scams. But then also the number one is studying for citizenship tests. Oh, that's great. That's like the number one offered one, like everywhere. But then also additionally helping people, again, English, second language, like paying their bills here and like doing that kind of like direct translation and like house management, apartment management, like certain things that are like just like your life and how to get all. through all those and then college apps and all that stuff.
Starting point is 01:12:59 And I was like, oh, my God, that's great resource. And it's pretty much like every day at these libraries. Hmm. Yeah. That's awesome. Yeah. So if anyone needs that resource as well. But on the theme of AI scams, and I came across on Instagram, because, you know, like on our
Starting point is 01:13:18 Instagram, mostly it's just food content on our shared Instagram. And there's an account that I was just looking at. And I was like, this looks absolutely disgusting. What is this? And then as I'm looking more closely because the meat isn't quite connecting, I said, this is AI. And there is, this account has 129K followers. And then I listened to it with the sound on.
Starting point is 01:13:51 And I said, because it's like, oh, this, look at that juice. it's coming apart. I'm like, how do people not know that this is AI? Oh, no. And then it's like the same voice on all the videos. Oh, it's just, it like makes me equal parts enraged and then equal parts like sad because I'm like, the suspended disbelief for this that I'm like, there is no critical thinking being done to realize like it's so obviously AI.
Starting point is 01:14:24 But then I'm like, oh my God, you're so desensitized to this that like people, are falling for it, but, like, they've infiltrated everything. They do. And even on this account, they're selling cookbooks. Like, it says, like, buy my cookbook. And so, like, in each, like, the messages in the responses in the comments, it's like, okay, here, I'm sending you a link to buy my cookbook. It's disgusting.
Starting point is 01:14:48 Who is my link? Oh, my God, Emma's easy recipes. Oh, my God, Emma's not a real person. No. Shop it. Someone I follow. follows her. Oh, no.
Starting point is 01:14:59 But literally look at it, it's disgusting. These aren't real. This is worse than Rachel Ray's picture of her Thanksgiving table. Yeah, because at least that was real food. Oh, my God. This isn't steak, honey garlic glazed steak with mashed potatoes. That's meatloaf. And then just like, look at the video as things are coming being pulled apart.
Starting point is 01:15:20 Yes. Well, none of this is real. And this is why they keep making meatloaf is because it's the only thing that they're like, Well, I can just scoop it. But even the one with the like pasta slash lasagna because it doesn't realize that those are two separate dishes. Wait, Melissa, 90% of what they make is just meat loaf. Mm-hmm. But they're saying it's like steak and stuff.
Starting point is 01:15:43 Yeah. Oh my God. This is horrible. I can't believe it. I'll put a link in the show notes so y'all can see it because it looks absolutely disgusting. that the count is Emma's easy recipes. They made shrimp lasagna, but it's with penai noodles. And it changes frame to frame, too, of what it is.
Starting point is 01:16:09 You can't cut a slice of penit. Like, this is, it's not, like, this makes no sense. No. But AI has also infiltrated my favorite genre, one of my favorite genres of TikToks, which is news bloopers. And now they're making fake news bloopers. And I'm like, this makes me so. I'm just looking at this going like that man's there's one of the hosts he's like laughing and as he's laughing he has no teeth and I'm like this isn't real it's just it's skin it's just skin across the teeth not just like the bloopers but then there's also real ones where they try to make it look real and people are in the comments like I can't believe and I'm like this is AI I've turned in TikTok you can make it so you get like no AI stuff but then
Starting point is 01:16:54 then like, which is great, but then like people will respond and the responses will be AI. And that can't get turned off because it hasn't figured that out yet. But I just like, whatever happened to Googling. Instagram has now started labeling stuff as AI too, which is great. Yeah. But it just makes me mad because everyone's like, well, like Google AI is the same thing. And I go, you can turn that off, but also like it's not the same thing. It's not the same thing.
Starting point is 01:17:21 It's not taking. Just scroll one little fucking thing past that. Mm-hmm. The idea that it's like, you're not going to, well, I'm not going to Google to see if it's real because Google just tell me it's real. Well, if you actually, your capacity is only for reading the first 120 words, then yeah. But, like, that sounds like something you should take up with your doctor if, like, you're physically incapable of, like, scrolling and reading past that. Maybe you shouldn't have a smartphone. Maybe it's time for, like, a rotary phone because you clearly don't have the capacity to deal with a smartphone because you are not being smart.
Starting point is 01:17:49 The phone is not just smart. You have to be smart using the phone. Actually, I just need you to not be a dumbass. I don't even need you to be smart. Just like don't be a motherfucking dumb ass. Oh, and it makes me mad. It makes me mad. All right.
Starting point is 01:18:01 Well, thank you guys for joining us. We're both enraged on many different levels, but we're also mostly happy. Yeah. You went to the library. I went to the library. Life is complicated, you know. The highs and lows of, what is it, football? What's that?
Starting point is 01:18:20 Yeah. I don't know what you're talking about. It's a Riverdale quote. because I watch Riverdale. It's just a meme. Miss Piggy just posted with glorious item and the episode. All right, y'all. Join us on Thursday where we actually will have a new,
Starting point is 01:18:37 but am I watching? Where we'll be watching 9 to 5 with three of my favorite white ladies. And then we'll be back on Monday for a new episode of Don't Blame Me. Bye-bye. Bye. This is a sister-sign production, hosted by me, Megan Rinks. And me, Melissa D. Mons, plus Diamond imprint Productions. Post-production by Coco Lorenz.
Starting point is 01:19:09 Production Assistance by Melanie D. Watson. And music by Ryan Hunter and Giacomo Picasso.
