i will say that like culture is different in the bay in la but out of every place in california they are the most similar so like y'all even talk different okay melissa i just saw a tiktok of someone saying like i love ryan coogler's accent and i said ryan coogler sometimes it's hard for me to understand what ryan coogler is saying this is mind-blowing to me i watched nine videos and i go what the fuck are they talking about yeah ryan coogler one time i was watching it was when black panther the first one came out and he was doing a breakdown of um different scenes like i was watching it from like a director's point of view and he was doing a breakdown and i was like i have to turn on captions i do not know what this man is saying

like i've now that i've been because that was years ago now that i've been here longer my brain has adapted but it's very hard for me the only tell that i'm that like someone's from the bay is if they say hello hello yeah or like not anymore now but finna used to be another one but like actually if anyone like over the age of 30 says finna i'll make you're from the bay if you're younger than that maybe not it's pretty i'd say that's more aave though that's well that's that's a huge part of bay area slang in general and so i think now at this point that wouldn't be a tell to me at all finna be in the pit um but i like i was watching these clips and i could not understand what people were saying and then finally they were like oh my god i i

love boys with the oakland accent and i was like hold up do you remember when mecca was getting all that when uh everybody was she was like i don't have an accent and everybody was like you sound like e40 i think no was it e40 or uh too short too short i don't remember it was one of probably i think it was too short i think it was too short okay and then she changed her profile picture to like one of his album covers it's like this is one that like i'm still not getting like it's like it has not computed in my brain enough at the like i'm there was one this actually happened a couple weeks ago on unhinged immoral where jamila has said barbecue which is how people in the south say barbecue like you say barbecue and mecca was saying barbecue barbecue and we were

like what and she's like i don't hear the difference you it sounds like you're saying you're having a barbecue for barbies barbecue barbecue barbecue barbecue is how she was saying barbecue barbecue i uh it is i have to catch you one time when you're not yeah when i'm not like aware of it yeah because i didn't i like know that there's a stereotypical like valley accent but that's mostly like vocal fry and like long pauses and like drawn out like letters but that's more of a cadence of like how you talk and then i've always referred like i've always just thought like yeah bay area like our tell is like slang i did not realize that there's not only a california accent but like i thought again i thought it was just like oh it's valley

they're not that's not about me the bay area one i watched so many i truly could not understand what people were saying like i think i'm gonna need a good amount of time comparing and contrasting to figure like i at this point there's no way for me to figure it out like i can't hear it there's a girl let me uh play the video this i recently commented on this hold on california have an accent everybody says that like oh you're from california you guys talk like this and you talk like that honestly the way that y'all keep pressing that we have an accent that y'all are making up is just hella weird to me bro like oh there we go hella weird oh on the dead homies right you gonna go hang in the corner um and then i have responded the next video is a mariachi

band playing not like us which it was it's just so it's just it's so fun like you just can't hear when it's your your own your own thing at all um but uh yeah so basically in that bonus clip i had showed i had come to the realization that i was i was far more like moths to me is one that shocked me when he didn't know this because like he knows so much random obscure shit because again colorado colorado doesn't have um a bustling r&b hip-hop rap community of their own no you know they've got um machine gun kelly and so and like 303 and the fry and so he he like listened to music from like like southern like atlanta georgia he also went to college there too yeah and then also east coast up and west coast so he has like a very very very well-rounded like entire all coasts

and he was like i have no idea what the thistle dance is and i was like okay until you i play it he still has no idea when i showed you guys and you both were like zero clue it blew my mind and so melissa recently tagged me on tiktok of someone on a man on the street interview asking people like what is like a song that you would say is bay area and then specifically when they started saying like okay now what's like a deep cut that only barrier people know i had i would say it's not at this might have been the same reaction i had to like not knowing the fizzle dance was um d low no do you know d low no sage the gemini 32 years old six five you gotta start that over i don't know what you're talking about no i this was just me googling because i was i we'd

realized this a while ago that the reason why i think i like love the song gas pedal so much is he is he's like a california rapper too and then i just looked at sage of gemini because i was like how big is he besides that and i look and i go this man is 6 5 and 32 years old just saying i wonder what he's doing now like what music he's making now but anyways so um i mods didn't know this song and i i had i told him he was gonna love it so when he was running late for work this morning so naturally i did put it on full blast with like the door open as like he like walked away and i was like think this is your entrance song so let me know if you just recognize a little bit of it okay i can dance to the whole i'm like i no never heard this song

playlist um but uh i'm curious about this one do you know cray sean yeah i made a joke about crayshon before perfect okay now this one i think is one of the best in my car by the pack do you know that matz knows this one i loved this song growing up and i won't play i'll have to play next episode i'm gonna do southern songs for you i won't i promise you i probably won't know any of them not to the same thing like it's gonna be so big it's so big in the south and you'll be like what is this yeah never heard it a day in my life and like it'll be no this is quite literally not niche at all and it's just so it is just like so funny how and like it's still a thing in the bed like i saw tiktoks of like young kids who are like

teenagers who are still in the bed being like they don't make they don't they only make music like bay music and i was like wow it's crazy like we will you'll listen to old bay while you're there and then the new stuff but i'm just like oh it's like it's not like there's just a certain era where it was like oh a ton of music is coming out of here so this this one like couple year range like you only listen to that i'm like no they're still like no this is this is all i listen to that's hilarious but it made me laugh so hard and it just like took me right back to high school because sometimes they're when i have like a little bit of a step away from it and i listen and i go damn yeah our music is you can really tell the thing is you know if you're

listening to a song you know it came from the bay yeah and i guess i didn't realize how obvious it was until i started listening to songs back to back and i forget who it was but like there's one guy who like i was never into his stuff just because i his voice does not do it for me but like he has such a distinct voice yeah yeah and i was like oh okay okay okay um but yeah uh it it gave me a a hee hee a ha ha a little giggle giggle and i'm not even gonna ask if you've watched paradise yet because i think you would have told me i haven't watched it yet i finally got caught up from months of being behind on young and the wrestlers when i say months october and it took me the last two weeks to get caught up to today

that's impressive i know two weeks yeah so um no i have it but uh now i have time because i'm all caught i still need to get caught up on days of our lives but i think that'll just take me saturday maybe um but because i'm only a few episodes behind on that one uh but it's coming it's coming i can't wait i can't wait for you i'm gonna watch that i'm sticking in it and i know you don't watch white lotus but i'll watch that too and we talked about starting white lotus just because we want to be a part of something yeah that's how i feel about like i'm not really looking forward to the show it's just being a part i'm i'm tired of skipping conversations no i'm tired of swiping on tiktoks when my hands aren't free because i go that's what i mean by

conversations exactly i'm like i'll start watching and i monster's like do we have to watch for the first season and i said i i don't care enough about white lotus in general to do the re like i'm not i don't think i'm gonna love the show that like i think we can go back but like i think just because this season does have a character that was in i haven't seen it but this season does have a character that was in the first season so it might tie back to google it and be like what's the story true and i can always go back download right now too yeah i just think in general like i'm really just doing it so like i have i can say that i'm watching it so i don't i don't feel that like if i'm like oh i'm really confused or people are like you won't be confused

it'll just be better and i'm like i don't need it to be better i'm not looking for this to be yeah jaw-dropping fantastic and i can always stop and then go back go back if we need to and be like hey actually this would be more helpful if we started from here because we did finish obviously we finished paradise but then we finished uh we started and finished running point the kate hudson i want to see it so bad i really like it my only complaint and this is my i have this complaint when they do it in any show when you write a character and the character happens to have the same name as the actor that you cast change the fucking name because when the only when the only part there's only one person whose name is there because here's the other thing if brenda song's

character is named brenda they would go well she's too famous for that so i also think it's low-key insulting when you like let someone play a character with their own name because they're like it's not that confusing because i go you're just saying they're not famous and like like that's like um with kimmy schmidt titus is titus's real name and tina fey swore up and down that she didn't write the character for him which is a lie it's literally for him she has worked with him before and reached out and said can you come audition and he was like you named this character after me and she was like no i didn't like yes you did yeah like play it cool until he signs the fucking papers and then say yeah i wrote it for you like greta gerwig

talks about that in like so all of the kens it was like ryan ken or whatever and she was like no i wrote everyone's name like it was barbie margo it's really hard reading that uh yeah screenplay difficult difficult but i'm like at least like own that but like what do you mean that jay ellis is playing jay brown stop because they keep saying jay and i when they're talking about jay and then jay ellis comes on screen i go jay ellis is playing himself like what do you mean and like the only way that you can like justify that is that like the name enough doesn't have enough recognition that everyone's gonna go oh that's who that because for me when you said jay and then jay ellis is on i'm thinking that he is playing a cameo of himself but he's not and i also

find that insulting that you're saying that he's not famous enough that people aren't going to be like why do they have the same name speaking of jay ellis an insecure isa ray who of course created and wrote it her character on the show's name is isa d and she she says she regrets it every day that she didn't change the name because people confuse her with this is who she is and she's like this is nothing like me and it's like a good like selling point for something where it's like it's your show your pov you're right like it makes more sense that she did it but like i yeah i would regret you would regret unfortunately you would regret that but i'm sure people were like no it's a great idea it's a great idea you should keep with that you should keep with that but people

blur that and so i really just and like they're when they're like i can't believe jay did this i was like you guys this is really like stop stop um the only other complaint that i have is that i understand when they want to cast a guy who is shorter to play basketball because no matter what you're going to go well the justification will always be steph curry and the justification will always be mugsy bogues who's like five two okay so maybe that's what they actually leaned into a little bit more with this because i'm like you can't use that justification for chet hanks like that's fine like then kate hudson is like not that tall the issue is jl is tall so i'm like give him a couple apple boxes or cast the rest of the baswell players to be shorter and do some

forced perspective thing because watching chet hankston next to these guys who without a doubt are well over like 6'3 minimum it does look like the team in the water boy and we're supposed to believe he is like a key player and when he's not playing well everyone's like pissed and i go you can't even see him on the court what do you mean he's he's a crucial part of this team he is making country music now have you seen that uh no i've not he does rap in this which i wondered if it was part of his contract um i feel like they probably wrote the character specifically for him just and he's great at it that i've seen he's playing a version of the many characters that he himself plays exactly um

but yeah he has forayed into country as a lot of people are doing right now rap to country it doesn't sound bad it keeps popping up on my for you page well here's the thing about him um does he know who he is no but is he incredibly good at adapting to being other people like i'll give chad hanks is he's perceptive yeah he's a sponge he can he can and he's he's also good in the show so like i'm i don't think they should have cast somebody else i just think you should have given him an apple box like he just looks so fucking short um but it's a good really enjoy the show in general and one of the guys who plays like the star player or whatever he has like um uh what's his what's the actor's name toby sand sandman sandman sandy sandy man

sandman oh he's an english he's english and double gold medals who represent great britain in the 200 meter i'm sorry what um but he has jaylen hurts eyebrows and i have to say i love when they put a pretty boy on the team like i was like good casting with this too i enjoy that thank you so much thank you so much um but it's it's good i enjoyed it and a lot of reading reviews and like some people were like so mad and the reviews were killing me because of course the reviews are i don't like that there's a woman in a basketball show get this woman out of my basketball show but the way that they have to hide that is i don't like how they portrayed these basketball players basketball players notoriously are very very kind intelligent people i don't like how

they made them some of them look not so smart i was like okay so athletes as a whole don't have a don't have a reputation of being mensa scholars okay for sure but uh it was just i i i deeply enjoyed it and then mots would pause and then tell me some of the references to because like it's it's supposed to be the lakers but he will he will be like okay they're definitely this isn't like a lakers lore thing but like this is a reference to this other team and this other person or whatever and he was like no he's like i can't understand how anybody would the critique would be the people who wrote this don't know basketball he's like that's like the exact opposite like there's so many he's like i think if like most people are probably missing a lot of

crazy spot on because it wasn't bluey but it is also a blue cartoon for kids cartoon smurfs and smurfs what two smurfs world tour smurfs like yeah it's not the first smurfs no i mean smurfs started as a just a regular cartoon well and cardi is also doing i don't know if she's a voice in smurfs or she's doing a song but i do know her profile picture on tiktok is like her painted blue with the hat on like as a smurf but like it's not like a cartoon version it's just like her it's just her like cosplaying smurf smurfette um gauchos come back okay so capris are coming back so i do think that this no gauchos are coming back too i saw i've seen advertisements gauchos are coming back thank god that has not also the uh i don't know how to say
